Keyframes VN Update

Hear ye! I've come with updates for Keyframes! This time, I'm shooting over some previews for our CGs!

Currently, we have one artist who's breaking sweat getting these done for our players so be sure to thank @tsyshen for her efforts!

2/7 CGs are already fully rendered, and haha you can probably already guess who these two are.

The rest of the CGs are a work in progress, but we can give you a bit of a hint as to what you can expect in the extended demo with them!

All these papers strewn about must mean you're studying. And jeez-- that monstrous burger sure looks intimidating. But it looks like you're hanging out with a large group of people in these events!

And believe it or not, the rest of the previews I've got to show you are from the same event-- the BBQ party you've played through in the Otome Jam Demo!

We've talked about this a little bit beforehand, but some of the CGs in the extended demo and the game moving forward can change depending on the choices you've made!

Regardless of these changes- there's quite the celebratory mood in each shot, don't you think?

If you haven't heard already, the plan for the CGs in our VN stray a little from convention. In that, not all of them are going to be specially romantic or dramatic, or these full on screen images. Rather some of them are just photos reminiscent of something that you would even find in your own photo gallery.

I can't wait for everyone to see the full photos as well as the subtle changes amongst some of them! I hope it feels as authentic as taking silly pictures with your friends and may everyone make happy memories with our cast!

wow so I have like 3 analysis in progress that touch on this topic but I really need to just talk about it rn with its own spotlight.

Aziraphale has this entire life that he's built for himself on earth, after armageddon he's thriving. When we catch up with him in Season 2 his first scene is literally him going to check in with one of his tenants, and throughout the season we see that he has a decent relationship with nearly Everyone on the block. He has an entire life for himself all hashed out and pretty.

Crowley... does not. His cold open in Season 2 is back in St. James park, checking in with Shax, finding out the gossip on Hell. He doesn't have his apartment, he only has his Bentley and the few plants he could fit in it. He doesn't have any other human friendships. His entire life and everything he loves to do is built entirely around Aziraphale.

This is something that I just find so fucking thrilling because when it comes to their characters and where exactly they are in their arcs right now, it's essentially like looking into a mirror.

Aziraphale knows exactly who he is when he's on his own. He nurtures his own relationships with humans he sees often, he's a nice landlord, he loves books and classical music, and hot cocoa. But, Aziraphale still holds onto the ideals of heaven. He still cares about doing good and being forgiving. He still cowers and jumps at the opportunity to help heaven, not because he wants to but because he's supposed to because he's still an angel.

Crowley has nothing. He has his car, which he drives to a secluded location to park every night, only to drive it right back in the morning. He's only even vaguely recognizable because people associate him with Aziraphale and this is fine for him, he could care less. He doesn't really need to know who he is or process his traumas, why would he when he can put all his attention and focus and love and care directly into Aziraphale? His friend, who has always been his friend, the one person who has always stood by him. Who cares about heaven and hell, he has Aziraphale.

When we finally see them on their own and without the influences of their head offices, we see the opposite of what we'd expect, and nearly the opposite of the outcome we see in episode 6. Crowley is the one constantly checking in with Hell (wether he likes it or not), and Aziraphale is the one who's living care free without even thinking about heaven. When he does something good that he wants to report, he just calls Crowley.

this whole dance of Crowley not knowing who he is without Aziraphale and Aziraphale knowing who he is fundamentally but not knowing how to break free from the confines of Heaven that stop him from truly embracing Crowley in the end, it's just so delicious.

Was looking through some human/android GLaDOS and Wheatley designs before taking a stab at my own, and ended up doodling some that really stood out to me!

Now for the arbitrary ratings of each design for each character simply because I can lol

Wheatley

@shrimperini ‘s design: I like this one a lot! He looks very polite. 10/10.

@the-dangerous-mute-lunatic ‘s design: ??? ?????? Why is he so pretty??? I’m confused but I still really enjoy looking at this one. He’s getting a 9.5/10 only because he slays too much when we all know that, canonically, he would never

@zimtdraws ‘s design: This one feels the most like what Wheatley would look like if he was a human (or human-adjacent), at least to me. One of my personal favorites. 11/10.

@cupcakeshakesnake ‘s design: One of the best object head/android designs I’ve seen of Wheatley thus far. The body perfectly matches the clunky, industrial aesthetic that his core already has! 10/10.

@dipworld-dippa ‘s design: This one’s fun! I love the cartoony vibe he gives off. Another personal favorite. 11/10

@demelly ‘s design: I like how unconventional this one is. A good mix of not-quite-human, but not-quite-machine, either. I also like how messy he looks; the curly hair sticking out all over and clothes that don’t seem like they fit him quite right give off the impression of a disorganized individual (which, considering his status as a core that generates nothing but bad ideas and never shuts up about anything ever, is very fitting). 10/10.

GLaDOS

@shrimperini ‘s design: I like this look for her. Very clean and sleek. 10/10.

@the-dangerous-mute-lunatic ‘s design: This one is my absolute favorite. Intimidating, but also very pretty. Also really like how much her chest plate looks like the one for her canonical robotic design. 11/10.

@zimtdraws ‘s design: Another unconventional design, especially for GLaDOS. But there’s something about this one that’s so charming to me. The thick curls and darker skin tone is a nice addition that I don’t see all that often for her. 10/10.

@cupcakeshakesnake ‘s design: Another banger for the object head types! I love how smug and condescending she looks all the time. Just like the real deal. 10/10.

@lacking-hydration ‘s design: This one reminds me of a classic Disney film/Saturday morning cartoon villain. Love that for her. 10/10.

@opthedragon ‘s design: This one is so silly. She’s so small! But that only works to her benefit. I really like how emotive this one is, despite having a potato for a head. 11/10.

So Base Jumping is basically sky diving but off of tall buildings. Zorbing is going into a big clear inflatable ball and rolling down a hill. And he also likes killing whales. Good to know

First one, the idea that Yellow has brown hair means that shit definitely gets dyed and theres no way he's doing that himself. Anyways, got carried away with that one.

Also oh my god the concept of Red having that many insane hobbies is really fucking funny. I like to think that he is not. good. at any of them. He's a very sedentary guy a very sit all day at home type of guy.

ALSO WHAT THE FUCK IS DUCK WEAVING? I WAS LOOKING IT UP AND WEAVING LOOMS ARE HUGE. WHAT ARE YOU MAKING LITTLE FREAK

Anyways also oh my god the contrast between the fucking answers to the dream question? That shit is so funny. That is so hilarious I had to draw it.

Sometime post-series, Reigen takes Mob out for one of their semi-monthly ramen nights and the kid seems more distracted than usual. After he bends his spoon for the second time (and the ceramic ones are much more fiddly to fix), Reigen’s finally like “Okay, Mob. What’s bothering you?”

Mob: Oh. Well. I . . . realized that I have feelings for Hanazawa. Reigen, clapping him on the back: Hey, that’s great, Mob! Mob: But I don’t think I can tell him Reigen, immediately shifting into Business Mode: Why not? Mob: *stares wordlessly into his soup* Reigen: Now Mob, you shouldn’t be afraid of rejection! I know things got a little . . . hairy with Tsubomi, but in the end you handled it like a champ! Mob: No, it isn’t that. Reigen: Of course it isn’t! He’s not, uh, dating someone else, is he? Mob: No. A lot of girls have confessed to him, but he says he isn’t interested in any of them. Reigen: Well, that sounds like great news for you, right? Mob: *continues fixing his spoon* Reigen, internally: shit, is someone giving him trouble for liking boys? is he afraid of how people will react? are society’s judgements preventing him from following his dreams? Reigen: *deep breath* Reigen: *launches into a long and heartfelt speech about how it doesn’t matter what other people think of you and you should always be true to yourself and pursue what makes you happy, and being different isn’t bad, in fact it’s beautiful, and how no matter who he loves Mob will always, always have his support. By the end he’s crying a little and so are half the other people in the ramen bar* Mob: Oh. Mob: Thank you. Mob: But it’s not that either, Master. Reigen, giving up: What is it, then? Mob, wringing his hands: When you ask someone out, it’s polite to pay for their food. But Hanazawa’s appetite is so large and I don’t have a lot of money. There’s no way I can afford to date him! Reigen, suddenly haunted by the Ghost Of Restaurant Bills Past: . . . Ah.

(and that’s the story of how Reigen ended up sponsoring their first date)
