This is Herbert West about to experiment on Jeffrey Combs. The concept originally came from @heliojip on here. He hasn't released his image yet though.

I had begun jokingly brainstorming how Jeffrey Combs would react if he was transported into the Reanimator universe and met Herbert. I think he'd escape with his knowledge of how horror movies work and how to act if you wanna be the survivor, and then go eat some keebler fudge magic middles (discontinued). Then Herbert would find him and Jeffrey would have to make up a reason why they look so similar, and he'd tell him that he was his REAL biological dad; the sperm donor to his actually adoptive father. Anyways if you want more of this headcanon tell me, it was fun

i foolishly started another playthrough of bg3 in the early access even tho the game comes out for realskies in like a week or so and i'll have get to make more characters/new pts anyway.

trying to make myself not be a pretty wood elf/half elf druid so rolled drow paladin (i'm def going to play a druid first once it's out for real tho b/c talk to animals is my favorite larian studios skill and i'm so sad without it. i just want to talk to all the animals and also wild shape!) and it's actually been pretty fun to just be tanky and whack things.

npcs are super rude to drow tho, it's real da elf and skyrim khajit/dunmer flashback hours (i don't love it? the fantasy race racism stand-in in rpg games always feels not terribly thoughtful? i realize it's b/c the source material has it but still idk there's got to be a better way and wotc/dnd is historically still not great at it)

i keep attempting to play a different type of character (i usually start to swing chaotic good no matter where i start lol), but it's difficult and also it's real hard not to flirt with astarion even if he disapproves of my kinda do-gooder paladin atm lol (i think b/c a character disproves sometimes my contrary nature takes the better of me b/c i'm like oh no but i want *them* to like me even tho everyone else approves or maybe b/c everyone else approves XD i've already romanced him & shadowheart tho, gotta try someone else's arc or proto arc as it were lol. BUT FLIRT WITH HOT KINDA STANDOFFISH ELF!!! i am weak T.T)

still wish you could set up the "what do you desire" character to be genderfluid and appear as both masc/femme forms. like my characters are all bi/pan! they're attracted to lots of people- idk if they've said anything about this? i haven't been watching *too* many dev videos b/c i don't want to spoil myself too much but i did some searching to see if it was mentioned anywhere yet and couldn't find anything (i did see that they'll have more body types for your tav at least in the final which is another small thing i dislike about the early access cc- even tho you can pick non binary as an id, you're still stuck w/ very binary body choices)

one thing i will never understand is why the general consensus is that kfp 3 is by far the worst in the trilogy. not that i particularly care whether or not other people like the pieces of media i like as much as i do but i literally just dont get where its coming from. like normally when i see criticism of pieces of media i personally like i can understand where people are coming from but with kfp 3 i just dont get it. like the things people critique it for i either straight up find not to be true at all or were just as true for the previous movies. like im convinced at this point that i watched a different movie than everyone else.

#the only real critique i have of it other than the fact that some of the jokes dont really land is that the conclusion of everyone in...#...the panda village just suddenly learning chi and po with no prior experience with chi does all kinds of complex stuff with it and...#...defeats kai #but its pretty in character because hes shown to be very spontaneous #and always seems to be able to figure things out in the heat of the moment #you could say it feels unearned bc he didnt really work towards it but i think it works because the power comes from his friends...#...and family working together to save him #so its kind of the culmination of the community hes created and how he has brought so many people (animals) together #so basically yeah its a little rushed but it still works #i think a missed opportunity tho is having tigress show the others how to do chi #bc hear me out its implied that while not a master of it she does know how to use it #bc when she kicks kai in the jade palace battle it actually does some damage and the visual effects are similar to those when characters...#...are explicitly using it in the movie #i kinda wish they had elaborated on it more #but i get kfp 3 wasnt really about her it was about pos relationship with his dads #me once again being incredibly normal and regular about these movies

it's so interesting seeing people point out things that were upsetting about mac & dennis's dynamic in the last ep. none of those things really bugged me not bc i don't think they're toxic but bc they didnt't feel ooc or surprising in any way? like it's essentially a lot of shit they've done & gone thru in previous eps just packaged in a different way.

#i mean... last time dennis couldnt get mac to do what he wanted he started a literal cult #and there were A LOT of equally bad ways that couldve gone but he literally ended up getting someone killed #the problem with this ep is that some things literally only work if ur willing to read them thru the lens that #mac would be willing to go thru w/e dennis would put him thru if dennis communicated it properly #(which doesnt sketch me out so much as the idea that if dennis could admit his feelings he *would* be able to communicate everything else)#idk i get macdennis! i get the appeal of 2 people who genuinely love e/o but constantly end up in toxic situations bc the only way they kno #it's just the fandom's single-mindedness that makes the ship annoying #& im kinda opposed to any critique that just says toxic = bad esp on this show #(even tho im seeing a lot of valid critiques on here within that which i genuinely love to read)#i do wish we could get an actual exploration or subversion of these dynamics but i still think that's a little beyond the show unfortunatel #s16 spoilers #i thought i had a point here but looking back over it i dont think i actually did...#oh actually 1 more thing... it's weird to me that so many ppl specifically blame megan for making characters/dynamics more toxic #bc almost all her eps feel like this to me... a rehash of a dynamic used in another ep that barely goes 1 step further

I have been wanting to talk about this for a while, especially since I keep seeing it on Twitter

For the most part, I agree with this tweet. I struggle to make the PJO cast look like themselves. It’s really important to get those features right. That being said, we also have to remember that a good chunk of the PJO fan artists are inexperienced artists. While there are a lot of artists who are just flat out racist, there’s also the group of artists who have a harder time drawing from life. I’ve seen so many amazing artist who clearly know how to draw black people, but their Annabeth fanart still doesn’t look like Leah.

No hate to the op, again I think she’s right to an extent, but it is so frustrating seeing mainly non artists saying this. And there are so many people in the comments saying “it’s so easy” when it really isn’t. Drawing from life is a skill that comes with practice. And whether you know how to draw black people or not, you’re probably going to have a tough time drawing any of the PJO cast if you don’t have that skill. Thankfully tho, there are a few simple ways you can improve on drawing from like:

I have some notes for Walker and Leah specifically, just because I think they’re the hardest to get right. (I know this probably seems creepy, but it’s so helpful to look at refs) This is all basic info you can find anywhere, it’s not revolutionary or anything

Walker:

-The eyebrows to me are the most important part. They’re much darker, and close to his eyes.

-He also has a pretty straight nose. Drawing him with a button nose will make him look like a random white blond boy

Leah:

-Again, the eyes and eyebrows are pretty important. Her eyebrows are thin and long. And her eyes have shadows underneath(plus she kinda has doll like eyes)

-round face

To show what I’m talking about, I did a quick doodle of Leah from reference. For me personally, when I draw from life I like to pick out a few distinct features that makes them feel real. It’s pretty bad because again I’m not the type of artist to typically draw from life, which is why art study’s can be super helpful to spend time on.

I really dislike when non artist complain about what fan artists are doing. We do this for free, in our free time, for a community that we love. But I also think it’s important to LISTEN TO CRITIQUES. If someone is telling you your Annabeth fanart is too light, you need to listen. As much as I agree with OP that this is predominantly a Leah issue, it isn’t just Leah. I can see throughout the fandom that a lot of artists are having a hard time drawing the characters(and I’m one of them). The PJO fandom has not had real people to base their drawings off of until two years ago, which is probably the reason a lot of us are having trouble with it. Even outside of this fandom I have a hard time with this. It took so much practice for me to get Alex and Henry right from RWRB, and I still can barely draw Henry 😭

Even some of the most experienced artist have difficulty drawing from life, again it’s a skill that takes practice. Anytime you see PJO fanart that actually looks like the actors, it’s probably because they just have more practice, or they’re more experienced artists.

I’m honestly having a hard time finding what OP is talking about when she said “artists draw Annabeth as a random black girl while referencing Walker for Percy” I was looking through saved work of other Percabeth fanart, and I see the same issue for Walker. I don’t doubt that there is work out there she’s referring to, I just can’t find it myself.

Sorry if this was a garbled mess of a post. I know it was really long, but hopefully this can help some artists to pick up on distinct facial features and replicate it in their own artwork. Trust me, as an artist I know it isn’t easy, but practice will always help. Best thing about being an artist is there’s always room for improvement

I'm just gonna start by saying if Disney doesn't renue this for a second season they are stupid and will have missed out on a harry Potter level phenomenon.

- LUKE MONOLOGUE HOLYSHIT ITS GIVING GOOD KID REPRISE

- HE IS KIND OF TERRIFYING IN THAT SWORD SCENE THO

- Ares' cackle. I love him .

- Ares just threw him like hulk did loki

- annabeth having to hold Grover back is so important to me because he's wanting to help percy but Annabeth knows this fight is to the death and any interruption would just get Grover killed.

- Annabeth also knowing he needs to prove himself as the son of poseidon and discover who he is.

- "let's kick the son of poseidon into a puddle right near the sea" I now understand why Athena is battle strategy and Ares is just war.

- THAT TSUNAMI JUST PARTING FOR PERCT US ICONIC AND HE JUST RUNS AND SWOOPS AND CUTS ARES

- my only critique is that Percy never does any movements to show its his power (which ik this is accurate to the books) but it comes off a little like he's just calling on Poseidon to do stuff. I wished they had some sort of indicator that it was Percy like maybe a slight movement or having the water pull back from the puddle he fell in and into the sea.

- I did think the fight was a little quick tbh but it still worked.

- the way I screamed "close your eyes close your eyes close your eyes!" When he was about to show his true form.

- woooh Hades helm

- The cabin looks fuckung terrifying rn

- I haven't seen the end of credit scene yet but I'm predicting it's going to be Sally with Gabe's statue.

- Alecto just wanted to get tho boss his hat back!

- "please" "good luck on Olympus" I thought she was going to be nice but noooo she's still a bitch.

- Annabeth trying to stop Percy from going because they're friends now and she's worried for his safety. I love Leah she is AMAZING.

- "I'm done running from monsters" THAT LINE OMG THE WRITERS ROOM ATEEEE

- THE NECKLACE?? THE MUSIC?? "You're gonna need all the luck you can get." Is so sweet and so patronising she is perfect. Leah is Annabeth Chase she has cyclops powers and just embodies her!

- "I'm here to see Zeus." Lightning bolt on the table " I don't have an appointment"

- Sally divorcing gabe is much much better than her just turning him to stone because it gives the message that she now recognises her son can look after himself and now she doesn't have to protect him anymore.

- GABE ASKING THE LAWYER HOW TO PICK A LOCK IS SO FUNNY

- I really like how it's his own hate for percy and everything percy has that gets him killed rather than straight up homicide. It really sets the idea that people like that will find their own downfall (which is ironic bc this trope is commonly used in ancient Greek tragedies)

season one of percy jackson is stunning. It's a masterpiece even with the changes and whilst there was definitely some timing issues and the cut to black became annoying, it was very, very good. If it is renewed for another season, it has a lot of potential, and I will be very excited to see how they adapt The Sea of Monsters for screen.

You knew of the baggage that came with dating an athleteㅡ a famous and loved one at that.

You were aware of the heavy media presence in the relationship; thousands of eyes following your every move, every post and every word that comes out of your mouth. You were aware of the criticism and harsh remarks you received along the way because out of everyone else, Jude decided to settle down with a normal, commoner girl like you.

You used to be bothered by it, always ending your days with tears overflowing from your eyes as you try your hardest to ignore the comments and not let it get to you. And for a while, you just learned to cope up with it. Until their words that was typed and uttered with venom no longer pierced through your self-esteem and consciousness as you grow mentally numb to their critiques.

It was a difficult situation to be in, but you never once let it be the reason to end the relationship you had with Jude. You loved him, and for you that was enough of a reason to hold on despite the mentally-draining position you have as a constant presence in your boyfriend's life.

But that tight grip you have in the relationship was snapped easily by a simple, gracious mistake Jude made.

You scoff. “Is that not a bit overused for situations like this-?”

Jude grows silent, solemnly casting his eyes anywhere but you.

“I’m sorry.”

“Yeah, I’m sorry for my fucking self too.” You reply before hastily packing your remaining items, speed walking around the room to take your stuff and shoving them haphazardly inside the luggage.

Jude simply stood beside the door, hopelessly watching silently as you packed away, knowing all too well that he can't do anything to keep you from leaving.

He finds his voice when you're rushing to get out of the door, two luggages on tow.

“I really am sorry...”

His apologies will never be enough, you both know that, and you remind him of how this downfall in your relationship weigh on you more than it ever will to him.

Just as before you reach the door, you turn around, grip on your suitcase tight as you try to keep your voice from quivering.

“I gave up a lot for you... I tolerated so many fucking things just to be with you, and I fucking regret that now.” You tell him, watching as his face fell and you continue to jab him with your words deep. “I fucking love you, and I really, really feel so sorry for myself for thinking that I was gonna be enough for you because obviously that's not the case here. Let’s hope we never cross paths again. Good bye Jude.”

His eyes never left your figure as you slam the front door shut, eyes fixated on the spot where his eyes saw you last. And Jude only grasps the situation he placed himself in as the silence of the house prevailed even after an hour you left, slowly drowning in the realization that he's wasted four years with you in a single mistake he shouldn't have done in a single night.

This happened many, many years ago, before I knew AITA was a thing, and at the time I wished there was something like AITA so I could understand if I ATA.

Here it is:

AITA for taking a table that had been recently abandoned in a bar, even though there were plenty of other tables available?

My partner and I used to frequent a pizza place/bar in the town we lived in. I knew most of the bartenders, and knew many of the other regulars by face and name, though I didn't know many of them personally.

We went to this place at least once a week, for their pub trivia. We always arrived early, to save a table, because this place would get PACKED.

One day we arrived particularly early. It was mostly empty, maybe 20% of tables being occupied. One of the occupied tables was our favorite, a particularly large table, in the middle of the main seating area, close to the fireplace (it was winter, so warmth is ideal) and the speakers (for ease of hearing for trivia). It was one of maybe 3 tables that was large enough for our expected trivia team. My partner and I got beers and sat at another, less ideal but available, table. This is maybe 2ish hours before trivia started, with rush hour being about 1 hour prior to trivia.

Seated at our ideal table were two patrons, a regular that I recognized, and another person I didn't. Both older gentlemen.

After maybe 20 minutes, the men got up and left the restaurant.

My partner and I discussed whether to move or not, and decided to go ahead and take their table, because it had all the qualities we were looking for in a table. This was the table we sat at whenever we had more than 4 people on our team. We moved, the two of us, to sit at that table.

About 5-10 minutes later, the regular came back and chastised us for pushing his drinks aside and sitting at histable. It was so long ago, I don't remember exactly, but I think he ordered another drink and his friend drank the rest of his drink at a 4-person table near us, before leaving before trivia.

INFO: Here's the things:

The table in question sat 6-8 people.

The drinks we pushed aside were an empty glass and a glass of beer that was maybe 1/3 full.

Neither had a coaster placed over it (which where we live is code for "don't touch this pls").

Nothing except for the glassware was left at the table (that is, no bags, hats, phones, etc, that might indicate it was occupied).

Weekly we saw this regular leave as the trivia crowd start to trickle in. It was normal that he was there when we arrived (usually he was sitting at the bar tho) and he would leave, not to return that night.

There were plenty of tables available, this just happened to be our favorite.

In their defense, I understand how weird it must've seemed:

They were having a drink; one of them finished their drink, the other almost done, and they decide to get up and have a smoke or something? The restaurant is mostly empty. They step outside. They come back in to find that a couple has inexplicably taken over the space where they were sitting, despite there being many other tables

My reasoning:

He was a regular, I thought he knew that the trivia crowd was coming in and that's why he was leaving? There was no indication that the table was taken (no coasters on the cups, no bags left). That is, if we had walked in as completely new guests, we would have no way of knowing that this table wasn't available but just hadn't been bussed yet. There were other tables available but they were either too small, far away, or too drafty.

If I'd thought they were coming back, we would've waited, because we knew that this guy was a regular who always left before trivia anyway.

No use to critique what I shoulda/coulda/woulda done here (asked the bartender, looked outside to see if they were still there, or anything like that). Based on the info I had (explained above), was I the asshole to take their table?

overlords edition! includes a rewrite of the vees and a removal of. the gross one. anyways ramble below :3 (Includes the time periods they're based on!) also i have based this on kolkocat's video that i watched a while back

note: I COULDN'T THINK OF ANYTHING FOR CARMILLA FOR HER PRE-DEATH... SO IT'S 'UNKNOWN' FOR NOW. SORRY :( (i'd be happy to brainstorm with ya'll tho)

King Edward Zestial III (1300s) zestial was a paranoid king, in constant fear he would be stabbed in the back or poisoned or strangled in his sleep. this was shown through how he ruled his kingdom, if one was suspected of any sort of disliking against him they would be executed in the town square immediately. this continued for a long time, until he was finally overthrown and killed.

when zestial arrived in hell, it was far more different than it is now. demons like furies were more set on hurting the souls that arrived and extermination day wasn't even a thing.

zestial lived in hell for 700 years and it shows, he's the overlord equivalent of that one school teacher that's way too old yet refuses to retire. he's still paranoid though, velvette loves to mess with him whenever they cross paths.

Carmilla Carmine (????) not much is known about carmilla, she's kept her past life as a secret for a long time now. we may not know anytime soon.

anyways, carmilla is a well known weapon seller across hell. while most weapons are not so different from the ones in the mortal plane. carmilla has taken it upon herself to learn satanic magic from an older demon and to infuse it with the weaponery.

while being rather intimidating, carmilla is not as cold as she seems. she as a soft spot for her adopted daughters and her friends and will do anything to defend them.

Velvette (2010s) professional meanie head, in hell and in life. she was once a popular fashion & makeup content creator, although she couldn't handle critique of her work. she would talk behind people in private group chats, harass 'haters' and basically all the cyberbully examples in a anti-bullying psa.

velvette died in a car crash, not paying attention and doing makeup in the mirror. which is why she has permanent clown makeup (the design also has a double meaning with the clown emoji being used in arguments i think)

in hell she wasn't exactly strong, but after joining vox she became alot more powerful. vox wasn't very convincing during the overlord meetings, but velvette would usually manage to sway half the party over. so velvette did the talking while vox made the tech.

Vox (1980s) vox is a nepo-baby with with a wizard of oz complex, he came from not-so-humble beginnings. he had good friends and manage to climb the coporate ladder fairly quickly (probably because his dad used to be in the company and was a higher up but coughcough-)

it came to a tragic end during a workplace accident, some of the technology being worked weren't working well and vox died of eletric shock.

vox at first wasn't really doing good in hell, it's not exactly a friendly enviorment for beginners. luckily things changed after meeting a certain demon, things got a lot better.

vox began to work on himself and by that i mean heavily modify himself with satanic-magic infused technology to make himself stronger.

vox once again began to rise to the top and managed to get himself among the greats. the overlords, one issue was that they didn't respect him. but after meeting velvette, vox realised that maybe he doesn't have to do the talking at all. so vox stayed behind the scenes while velvette attended the meetings and kept an image for the public.

Shang tsung isn't evil but a product of corruption and the environment that surrounds him. He's not evil in the sense of black n white thinking of morality. Especially from a western,psuedo Christian American perspective that so many people wanna shoehorn him into. (No shade here but im calling it like i see it nrs)

How is he evil when everyone in mortal kombat kills?

Also shao kahn quan chi and shinnok has arguably done worse

And even more so he's worked more with them,and under them(shao Kahn namely) and had no choice but to follow orders. Namely some things sure were aligned in benefit. But truly can you really argue that it was all his doing? No to say so is ignorant and undermining the other villains and antagonists of the series and their own contributions to the story narrative in opposition of protags and other characters.

The most evil is those who hide behind self righteousness and say they are for peace when they are being manipulated by promises of a better realm or timeline(cough fire god liu kang. COUGH)

Like nah guys mk12/mk1 don't make sense even for the narrative they are trying to pull. Shang is wonderful but yall missed the point even tho the storymode sucks and everything about it makes me nauseous, shang tsung shines thru because of what he represents. The story,It falls through the crack simply because of the fact

In mortal kombats chaotic and cruel world. You kill or be killed. You do what it takes to survive. Or be food for the gods. As you are nothing but entertainment for them.

Everyone kills in mortal kombat. So shang tsung killing means fucking nothing and is a moot point. He does it,everyone does it,how is he truly any different than anyone at that point. Thru mortal kombat,a supposedly Divine system,he's doing exactly what he's supposed to be doing. And what his character is designed to do. Period. So killing,moot point and argument.

Im not talking about. MK12/MK1 specifically. Tho that grinds my gears for many other reasons. Im talking shang tsung,overall as a whole as a character thru the 30+yrs the games and mk has been around. These are common arguments for that shang is "tHe EVil OnE" when there's no such thing in mks world. Truly. It's posturing and posing flowery words at that point. Period.

Stealing souls? He has to,to survive. He is cursed by the very gods and mentors that once swore to protect him. But did nothing.

Climbing for power? He does so because he wishes not to rule over. But so he doesn't have to worry about going to bed hungry,to suffer. He wants stability,comfort,and most of all security. A thing that long ago was robbed of him.

See you can't say shit about my man without having many reasons why he's not.

Could he be evil,nasty,and dowright fucking cruel? Oh you bet your ass he could. But does he enjoy it? Not really. He takes no pleasure unless it's out of necessity or you're considered an enemy.

He is no different than a hungry hunter. Trying to find his next meal or the next place of dwelling. Until he finds his true place of being and achieves a stable life.

Like ffs people it's right fucking there fine print and that still,STILL GOES OVER YOUR HEADS!

Like y'all who don't understand nuanced villains WANT him to be stereotypical,y'all want him to be easy to pinpoint. Because that means you dont get to critique your beloved "Heroic" characters. And use your brains,and critically think that maybe,just fucking maybe. Your nice dudes were wrong for once.

In mortal kombats world (if you can call it that because the world building sucks)

It's kill or be killed. Morality be damned. Shang tsung found that out long ago. Hiding behind morals in a world that could care less than about you. Gods that only see you as food,throw away entertainment,etc.

He may have respect for someone who despite all that crap,has some moral backbone. But isn't blind to the truth,it's survival. Dont be a pushover boot licking lapdog. As long as you don't hide behind your self righteousness and "goody goody" attitude. He'll respect that you have a noble heart. In fact,that may make him actually enjoy your company. But dont be a condescending jackass about your morals. And he'll be fine.

Shang tsung is just playing the game that the world is built upon. The rules,the gods,the empires,have made. And plays them well into his advantage.

And y'all pissed he plays it better than you. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

That my dears is a truly well done villain,antagonist,and just a beautifully complex character.

That's how you do or are supposed to do shang tsung. Period.

Been seeing a lot of increasingly hostile posts about this pop up again from both sides and honestly I think that "you should work on decoupling your drive to create from your desire for validation bcs audiences are fickle and algorithms are evil, so it's in your best interest to create for yourself first and foremost" and "if you want the creators you like to continue making stuff you should try to give them feedback and support in whatever way you can bcs the internet is fucked and while someone might bake just for the fun of it, if they spend six hours on a cake and take it to a potluck and no one touches it that's naturally going to be discouraging" are concepts that can and should coexist.

Like I don't think fans should feel SO pressured to engage in the Correct Way that they stop engaging all together(like if someone truly does not have the energy to comment on every fic they read I don't want them to stop reading fics in general, hearing about that makes me really sad, I want people to read my stuff even if they can't/don't want to comment), and I do think some people can go a bit too far when making "pls reblog stuff" PSAs, but I also don't think artists/writers are inherently being whiny and selfish for desiring support from the people who enjoy their stuff, especially bcs algorithms are stupid and evil and the internet kinda just sucks in general for creators so that fan feedback is really the only support a lot of us are ever going to get(and also there's also nothing wrong with pointing out general trends in fan engagement and culture and critiquing how some of them are concerning/harmful).

Is it good to create for yourself first and foremost? Yes. Is it normal to want feedback and support? Also yes. Are you obligated to reblog/comment on every single piece of art you find that you like? Not at all. Is it still a good idea to try to support people when you can? Absolutely.

Idk I just think there's nuance here that gets ignored. I'd love to hear what other people have to say tho, cuz I think this conversation needs to happen, so feel free to chime in.
