What may make me stand out from other teachers is my commitment to positivity and encouragement, as well as determination to provide unique guidance for a variety of challenges different artists face. I could go on, but you'll just have to listen in and see for yourself if I'm the teacher for you. :) ⚠ (This space will be for 18+ individuals ONLY) ❕ Anyone who is unable to attend lectures live will have access to public archived videos on Youtube, whenever I get that rolling. 💲 Support myself and the school on ko-fi https://discord.gg/EMwTwQtD4N

This is gonna be a long read but have you ever noticed how some of the human characters and background demons look either plain or like they don’t belong in the same show? Okay hear me out, because i know the critical community sometimes praises the designs obviously not done by viv. And i wouldn’t be surprised if they look a bit plain to give the animators that deal with viv’s wrist suicide designs a break. But it’s a really subtle way of showing just how bad of a director and artist viv actually is. When you try to replicate her style without all the details, it looks really boring because she only has three body types, and two eye types. It’s also a bit off putting because why are some demons like the main ones sharp, monstrous and detailed, but others look generic. Plus with the humans, some of them don’t look like they’d become demons if they died, their silhouettes aren’t very similar, which makes stolas human look even weirder when his proportions aren’t seen in the humans.
This might seem nitpicky, but even basic shows have background characters that don’t overshadow the main yet look like they all fit in one style because other shows have clear style guidelines while leaving room for varied features i.e powerpuff girls, rick n morty etc. Viv probably can’t direct the animators for shit. It also doesn’t have to be plain if the appeal is interesting details. Rise of the teenage ninja turtles has even better animation! And detailed colorful designs with all characters!, it just knows how to simplify it into base shapes and details that still let the design show through. Here’s one artist take that shows how easy it’d be https://www.tumblr.com/aimasup/716642713709264896/sorry-for-the-gushing-this-banana-is-the-only they have other redesigns too. If she was actually a good artist, but no the HH redesigns for prime look worse and somehow has more details! basically she’s a bad artist and so’s the show. And has anyone noticed this?
this is a worth while read, thank you anon~!
okay- yes let’s talk about Viv’s background character designers, to be fair these guys are REALLY good artists imo. They understand coding, body language and telling stories through the simplest designs perfectly fit for animation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The reason why they look so off (in comparison of Viv’s style) is just that, these artists are experienced in animation design it’s their JOB-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Viv just got lucky in the animation scene cause normally her art wouldn’t fly. Random unimportant patterns with random rips in every outfit??? Where’s the uniqueness? Where’s the story? They all are the same body shape and same fashion sense which peeves me the most.

These are just her wolves— it gets worse with her more humanoid designs…
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The illusion of difference with ✨COLOUR/eyelashes-✨ but seriously… look at their noses and face shape.. the Eurocentric beauty standards zapped her with its laser beams- button nose and sharp jaws.
as for the design you linked it makes me so HAPPY, the deconstruction ? The dedication? This person could definitely have a job in design, it’s a designers job to take away the useless and keep the most important features- to simplify and make sacrifices for the sake of proper turn arounds (which Viv struggles so hard at cause her hair/faces can only be viewed usually in one direction…)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Chad fan-designer VS
Beta Viv who struggles with a 360 turn around…. (Dear lord look at her eye lashes changing size every direction and her hair lines not making any sense—) she’s so lucky her animators made it out alive.

Okay, before I can give my input about this trailer, lemme just ask. Who drew Vaggie sitting like that, lol!! I'm sorry it's just . . . .everytime I look at this screenshot and can't help but look at her and be bothered. I get that she's supposed to be leaning forward with her legs apart when she's sitting, but they just did it wrong.
I feel like I wanna fix this . . . .

If you draw a fat character and make their face and neck so thin that I have to second guess if your drawing is actually of a fat person, you need to go back to the drawing board.
Artists, please start learning how to draw fat people and stop thinifying us to make our bodies more acceptable to you. We have fat faces, necks, chins, arms, legs. We don't just have fat thighs and breasts and the occasional fat stomach you'll sometimes draw when you're feeling generous. I had to see a popular drawing yesterday by an artist who had even written that the character was fat in the caption, but they had drawn the character with such enormous, physically impossible breasts that the character's barely fat stomach was completely covered by their breasts in multiple drawings. Because the only semblance of fatness had been a slightly protruding stomach, all of the drawings where that stomach was unrealistically entirely hidden by the character's breasts made it look like the character was just a thin person.
You can't draw a character that looks thin in half of your art and then claim that's fat representation. Stop half-assing art of fat bodies.

“Buy less. Choose well.”
-Vivienne Westwood
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Vivienne Westwood Fall 1995 Ready-to-Wear Look 35 Modelled by Kate Moss
We are living through a global collapse as our oceans are killed by plastic, and our land melted by global warming. The big companies that run our world have decided that money is more important than the planet we all live on, and the fashion industry is not innocent. 10% of the worlds carbon emissions are from the fashion industry alone. Just last year, 235million items of clothing were sent to landfills. In this culture of fast fashion, and micro trends, clothing has become one of the biggest pollutants.
Fashion has always been a major part of society, going as far back to the old ages where it was a sign of social status, to today where it is our main form of self expression. Yet this has been exploited. The pay for labour to make clothing is decreasing, the quality of the clothing is decreasing, and yet the cost is still increasing. Even cheap companies such as Shein are racking in an impressive profit just down to their abysmal production costs. The fashion cycle goes faster, churning out new designs and trends (often stolen from independent designers) so fast that within a month they are old. Even if you aren’t one to be bothered by wearing out of style clothing, don’t worry because the clothes will be unwearably damaged in no time.
Ethical and quality clothing may be more expensive, but in the long run it will cost just the same as the countless cheap versions that have to be bought. Second hand shops, reselling and repurposing, are all great alternatives for shopping ethically. Even sewing, or knitting new clothes will make such a difference. It may be harder to follow all these rapid trends, but by buying less and better quality clothing you will be able to achieve a stable wardrobe that doesn’t need replaced monthly.

Some of y'all REALLY need to stop sugarcoating things just because it has a cute art style or has the tropes that win you over. Like, that material could have the worst message that you could ever give to people and some of y'all would brush it off and make excuses to avoid thinking that your tastes may be actually pretty harmful.
