i feel like not enough people talked about how good church sounded live. i actually kinda like it a little better than the studio version. patrick drops down an octave for some bits of the final chorus and i always love hearing his chest voice.

obviously i have to link one of the few times they've played headfirst slide into cooperstown on a bad bet live. they did (coffee's for closers) at this show too and i think about it always.

they didnt do where did the party go live that often because it is MERCILESSLY heard to sing live but my GOD. when they did it. my god.

that one performance of the kids aren't alright where pete screams alongside patrick for the entire last part of the chorus ruined me in ways i have difficulty articulating.

the way way early version of sugar we're goin down they played live in 2004 before they changed all the verses

anytime they'd do just one yesterday live and patrick would do the bridge and kill it every time

the acoustic version of sophomore slump or comeback of the year they did for a private show in 2007. (they did this acoustic again in 2013 and i love that version too)

save rock and roll live is like. so important to me personally it never fails to bring me to my knees. but specifically the time they did it for the mda telethon in 2014. joes backing vocals come through sO clearly and its SOOOOO AAAAAA

also the time they did save rock and roll live for vevo. BIG ouchie.

okay also the time they dedicated save rock and roll to bowie after he passed because pete gets VERY VISIBLY EMOTIONAL OVER THIS and i can't handle it.

we don't take hits we write them literally Only exists in live format so i have to give a special mention to that. what i would give for a studio version though...

it's hard for me to pick a favorite moment of the time they played wrigley field during mania tour. i was lucky enough to catch a livestream of most of the show and it was frankly magic. someathing has to be said for the energy in the way the show began...and for the way it ended.

im incapable of not bringing up the immortals acoustic version they did during boys of zummer. i cant NOT. joe and patrick sound sO GOOD TOGETHER VOCALLY, OKAY

remember when they opened some of the monumentour shows with THIS IS THE TAKE OVER, THE MOTHERFUCKING BREAK'S OVER cause. i do.

if youve never seen the stripped-down piano version of young and menace and only heard the studio instrumental i beseech you to watch the live version. i will never forget hearing this live. the whole stadium got so, so quiet in what i could only describe as reverence.

you know that one text post that talks about patrick getting all emotional during a performance of what a catch, donnie and then just sniffs a little and says "i'm a loss for words...which is a good thing i have a microphone, right? so i can keep talking." well this is that exact performance.

okay. neil time. my official review: guys oh my god he is so good i love him so much. but much more gushing below:

im not retyping all that + setlist. he really did not speak like at all. before fuckin up (i think idr) he DID say ‘my producer died. we’re all gonna die by the way. just something to keep in mind’ which like. okay lol. and then every few songs he would say, and i quote, “hows everyone doin”. we’re doing great neil. but i respect it. anyways the man can play a hell of guitar for someone who is 78. i was just standing there being like my god. thats neil young and he is playing guitar. he’s real and he is so good. phenomenal stuff!! i can tell he was just havin fun with it lol. the horse was also very good. they were friends all having fun!! i want to be more insightful than this but literally like. he’s good guys. he did some really good solos. and i love him. good setlist 👍 losing end i feel like was surprising? but lots and lots of everybody knows which is always good. both the electric and the acoustic sets were wonderful. and i don’t know if it was the sound mixing or what but his harmonica sounded absolutely magical. i like harmonica but i have NEVER heard it that beautiful before.

this sign… i could cry. welcome back neily :) also i loved the nya village i had seen pics of it but i didn’t know what it was all about. wow the guy just loves to find his way into my envsci heart. imo it really really felt like the times contrarian come to life because it was a bunch of tables with different themes and they were giving away seeds and talking about agriculture and all that. and i loved that it was very local to toronto (/whatever city he’s in ofc). like they had local alternative magazines and their environment stuff was about here. i loved that level of care. this paper was the only thing i got there and now he lives on my bedside table :)

there was a family of goslings before the show and the moon was out and also there was a severe thunderstorm watch and the show almost got postponed but luckily it didn’t even rain so all was good. oh also its victoria day so people light fireworks and we couldn’t hear them because neil was blasting but we could see them it was nice

oh and lastly. him. typically when i take concert pictures they always suck because they make the performers look so far away even if i have good seats. and like thats true here but honestly i was so far away from the stage that he was so tiny anyways. no jumbotron which is a shame but that is par for the course from neil ‘dont even THINK about filming me’ young. i had a great time tho like i definitely saw him. he’s been playing a lot of small venues but lets remember that toronto goes ALL OUT for that old man and this was a sold out 16k seat venue so i cannot complain i literally got to attend a concert from my all time favourite old man. disbelief honestly. i love u neil!!

ive seen a few people genuinely asking abt what happened at the LA ritual so i decided im making the dang post myself

it was a no phone event because it was being professionally recorded. they had a few special bits and an amazing dance group and set of new musicians.

the set was as per usual, with the first deviation after watcher in the sky (i think. if im wrong i apologize, its a bit of a blur). Papa left the stage, reappearing on a small platform in the center of the crowd. he sang if you have ghosts- an acoustic version, accompanied by cellists, a pianist, and at least one fantastic vocalist (couldn't see well but it looked like they were dressed in long black gowns and veils). and yes, he messed up the lyrics lmao.

after, two crew members came out and dressed him in boxing gloves and a robe. he filmed a boxer style, running through the crowd before a fight type bit, while a recording of dominion played.

he reappeared on stage with the band, and they played twenties. many (probably 8-10?) incredible dancers came out and performed a routine to go with it. they were dressed in skeletal bodysuits.

the dancers left, and they returned to the original setlist, until the encore, where the dancers came back (but wearing black dress pants over their skeleton suits.. i think. it was hard to see.) and preformed for kiss the go-goat, dance macabre, and square hammer. during this they did not one but two! fabulously dramatic overhead lifts of papa.

anndd that was it! otherwise it was a show like any other, just with some bonus camera men running around to get some good shots from all angles. the usual papa isms, more or less usual ghoul shenanigans. i hope this is helpful to someone- yall are welcome to message me and ill do my best to help, although i did not see everyhing sadly (i am NOT all eyes. lmao)

GREAT QUESTION!! i have a lot to say abt all of these so sorry for my ramblings in advance but in no particular order we have:

1. MCR Boston2 - its hard for me to pick my favorite of my MCR shows but the setlist for this one juuuust pushes it over my first show i think. got to gear sooo many of my faves that night- SCARECROW and Deathwish and Summertime and Boy Division and Best Day Ever and Cancer!!!!! they played a lot of danger days song which obviously i fucking LOVED and idk something abt Famous Las Words really got to me that night. maybe its bc even tho our seats were kinda shitty that meant i could see basically the whole crowd as well as the stage and i just remember feeling so at home like "oh yeah. you all understand too huh?". i was also dressed as party poison that night so a lot of cool people came up to talk to me lmao

2. Set It Off at the Palladium for the Dopamine Tour - my most recent time seeing the boys AND MY FIRST TIME MEETING THEM!!!! they were all so sweet and they played an acoustic version of Bleak December which had me Felling Things. AND THEN THE SETLIST FOR THE SHOW ITSELF WAS INCREDIBLE AND THEY FUCKING PLAYED MISS MYSTERIOUS WHICH US LIKE MY FAVORITE SONG EVER OF ALL TIME AND ID RATHER DROWN WHICH IS ANOTHER ONE OF MY FAVES AND FUCKING ILL SLEEP WHEN IM DEAD WHICH WAS MY ANTHEM IN MIDDLE SCHOOL- and also Scene Queen opened and she was fucking spectacular and im really glad i lost my dad in the crowd before her set bc i lost my shit screaming along with her sings and he Did Not need to hear that 💀

3. Fall Out Boy at Darien Center - first time seeing fob the seats were so fucking good and i met so many cool people AND HEARD HEADFIRST SLIDE AND YOURE CRASHING AND 27 AND GET BUSY LIVIN AND- also i was at the park connected to the venue and i fucking left before the rest of my family to get some rest before the show. and literally as soon as i get to the fucking hotel my dad texts me a picture of PETE FUCKING WENTZ. IF I HAD JUST WAITED LIKE TEN MINUTES I COULDVE MET PETE WENTZ BUT NOOOO I WANTED TO REST SO J WOULDNT GET A HEADACHE IM STILL NOT OVER THIS MY DAD WHI DOESNT LIKE FOB SAW PETE WENTZ AFTER I HAD BEEN JOKING ABT JT ALL DAY GOD HATES ME BUT ITS FINE BC AT LEAST I GOT TO LOSE MY SHIT TO HEADFIRST SLIDE ONLY SONG EVER OF ALL TIME

4. Set It Off at Toad's Place for the Welcome to Elsewhere Tour - yes of course they're on here twice idc if theres other vands i could mention THEYRE THEM. this show was incredible, i managed to push my way almost to barricade by the end of the show AND i caught one of zach's guitar picks!! the openers were both killer too, but Cherie Amour in particular stood out to me so obviously i bought a CD after their set (which was SIGNED and i got to meet/take a photo with Trey and Brendan and they were both so nice it was awesome)

5. The Used & Pierce the Veil (i forget where this was and im too lazy to look it up rn 💀) - VICS VOICE LIVE HELLO????? HOW DOES HE SOUND LIKE THAT IM IN LOVE WITH HIM RAAAAGH- and look even tho i love ptv im much more of a casual fan when it comes to them so it was nice bc i had fun during their set but still had so much energy left over for THE MOTHERFUCKING USED. YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW LOUD I WAS SCREAMING WHEN BERT CAME ON STAGE MAN AND GE WAS HOLDING A TRANS FLAG WHEN HE WALKED OUT AND THAT ALONE NEARLY MADE ME CRY THEY WERE SO AMAZING IM VERY INCOHERENT ABT THIS SHOW BC I LOVE THEM SM IT WAS SO FUN AND I CANT WAIT TO (HOPEFULLY) SEE THEM AGAIN NEXT MONTH

So i came up with another DCA AU.

In short before the virus hit the pizza plex FazCo got bought out in a hostile corporate takeover.

The pizza plex is shut down and demolished (for killer robot in the basement reasons)

The glamrocks along with a recovered and repaired Bonnie continue doing the same music they always have there brand staying largely the same thought hey are moved from the plex to being an actual touring band

DJMM is sent out to DJ for clubs

Our dear sweet Daycare Attendant however is split into three bodies. one for Sun one for Moon and one for Eclipse. The new bodies are designed to be not only incredibly good looking but optimized to play music. There new boss seeing an opportunity has them learn music like humans rather then programing them then has them write there own songs with a fair bit of creative freedom as long as they can fit the bill of the Emo revival band there boss dictates.

However there new boss did not expect them to be good at this, there new boss did not expect them to have fun with this. They did not expect songs from the heart about how these pore robots have had there heart broken again and again.

And now there new boss has a hell of a band to manage and they are raking in the dough.

On the other side Sun Moon and Eclipse are suddenly granted not just a lot of creative freedom but a lot of freedom in general with the expectation of acting like any normal music stars.

The focus of the story would be on the DCA and probably will not have a Y/N.

focusing instead on how they change as people. When instead of being trapped and monitored and constantly told what to at risk of being tazed or scraped, they are given not only a lot more freedom but also privilege as they get more popular as a band.

Also the band name "Cry me the Stars" in very emo fashion as they where being put together as an emo revival band.

They are built on the same base moddle being largely human in the frame and face but there faces are a bit rounder and they all still have that iconic split down the middle though now they do have noses. they have claws on there fingers but they are guitar pick shaped and fully retractable. They stand about 6'7''

Sun is yellow in color pallet with orange star shaped freckles here and there on his arms and face. blue eyes and a set of interchangeable silicon rays he can move much like before. Singing voice: Alto with a fair bit of range into soprano Instruments: Electric & Acoustic guitar, later to branch out into brass instruments such as trumpet and saxophone Personality shift: eager to please, anxious, and fun loving -> cocky, demanding, party boy, knows for the most part he is in charge.

Moon is blue in color with silver ascents. Freckles are silver and star shaped only a few on the face. eyes are still red. Has ultra thin LED rope as hair that goes down past his shoulders. he can control the light and color and how they turn off and on. Singing Voice: tenner to alto Instruments: Electric Bass later branching out into string instruments such as cello and violin. Personality shift: not talkative, enjoys scarring people, actually a rather soft guy -> Out going, gets calmer, focuses in hard on the music.

Eclipse gets a mix of both designs with both the hair at a shorter length (to the shoulder) and rays (only 4) divided in half with a fade between blue and yellow and lots of star shaped freckles that are orange or silver based on if they are on the yellow or blue side. singing voice: Alto with some range into tenner and soprano Instruments: Drums, Synth, guys going to later go crazy with mixing software. Personality shift: mostly running off base daycare programing so extra sweet and joyful -> Total fucking diva

I'm going to try to write this as a fic i need something less combat oriented then Old Habits Die Hard.

I think im going to name the fic after there band Cry me the Stars.

But for the AU im thinking of just calling it ether "My Chemical Robot" or "Celestial Emo Bois"

First of all, for GMA’s smaller space, Louis planned for a softer, more acoustic arrangement. Isaac’s and Michael’s guitars are acoustic-electric hybrids, I think? Steve Durham only has a snare and a bass drum instead of the full drum set. Zak is playing on a xylophone! The overall effect of this arrangement is to showcase Louis’ voice and bring it forward.

The GMA mic sounds a lot “dryer” than on the Late Late show. The voice doesn’t reverb or “echo,” but stops in front of the air as quickly as it’s sung. Therefore, any “roundness” or softness has to comes from Louis’ mouth and throat. This also means that the mic will amplify every single sound around it.

For example, as soon as Louis starts singing, it’s clear that his voice is raspier than on LLS (probably from a lack of voice rest, smoking and alcohol at night… his bad habits 🫢). I hear more vocal jitter— the wobbliness around a pitch. A softer voice requires better breath control, and Louis’ voice was too stressed that early in the morning. Singers try to warm up before performances, and early morning performances are the hardest! Vocal cords are muscles!

The instrumental arrangement of the second verse is very, very pretty. The strings provide a warm wash of sound over which the xylophone is a bright ornament. The contrast between the warm strings, the deep/ round bass, the clear, clean xylophone, and Louis’ raspy, smoky voice is really what music in small spaces is all about, a study in beautifully blended textures.

(An aside: Bigger Than Me’s chorus is too big, too anthemic to play acoustically in a small space. The harmonizing vocals are too much.)

By the time we get to the bridge, Louis’ voice has warmed up and his control is much better. In fact, the segue (the two bigger than me’s) leading to the bridge are already much more controlled, steadier, the tone fuller, more luxuriant and supported, the throat looser and more relaxed (but the smoky vocal cords … still raspy! Bad boy, Tommo! Go to bed earlier!).

Louis sings the bridge with full command of his beautiful voice. Sometimes in a performance, it takes a bit of time for a singer to adjust the vocal volume to the ensemble (especially with in-ears in a foreign setting), but by the bridge, Louis has found the perfect balance. The harmonizing vocals have also been brought into line.

I think singing Bigger Than Me in different venues is a great learning experience for Louis. He smashed it at the Z 100 End of Summer Bash, but the Elvis Duran performance— in a tight space again— was rockier. It was also part of a very hectic schedule. In my opinion, nothing beats the Milan performance though. The world premiere of Bigger Than Me— the graphics, the lights, the pyro, the emotions in the air— it was all heartstoppingly poignant. I will never forget it.

ok so ive been wanting to do an in depth review of Dimension: Answer by Enhypen for time and i guess today is the day, here are my thoughts on this I think KILLER sophomore album from a kpop boy band:

We open with Intro: Whiteout. I love this song because it doesnt make any sense. "My eyes are closed. No, wait, theyre open. But i cant see"??? It takes you on a journey right from the beginning, and Jake's Australian accent really delivers it. Plus the pulsing beat in the background feels like you're running to an undisclosed location. Ends with the words: "what do you think?" Its inviting and narrative and just a great opener.

Track 2: Tamed-Dash is next - song of the summer. They mention summer and in the choreo do a hand fan motion indicating hot weather. Great beat, fun lyrics, catchy chorus, good choreo as well with the music video. Jungwon really stands out in this one; overall a great single no flaw track.

Track 3: Upper Side Dreaming: UNDERRATED. This song is constantly stuck in my head and the beat is so good its just catchy, the little chorus "doo, doo doo doo, doo, doo doo, upper side dreaming like. YEAH no exactly. Also the interspersed English words are really fun. perfect transition from Tamed-Dashed.

Track 4: Just A Little Bit: Not a bad song by any means, but much lower key and more acoustic than the others, not my fave, a little boring but they have pretty good vocals. Plus its a good lead into...

Track 5: GO BIG OR GO HOME. This is my FAVOURITE song on the whole album and it just delivers EXACTLY what it is trying to do: pulsing beat, club early 2000s vibe (kind of usher-esque in the beat??), good mix of English and Korean and fun lines (don't get away, I need a diamond ring, im feeling lucky) and then the chorus hits, great buildup to extremely catchy chorus (we going going going we RIDE) like it just delivers so well. The bridge is really good too, good beat drop. Nothing excessive or innovative but i LOVE this song I think I've listened to it at least 50 times its just so well done

Jumping into Track 6: Blockbuster. Right off the bat we get "hop in, big bills" and you KNOW its gna be a banger with some shredding electric guitar in the back. Simple verse but chorus pulls thru with a beat change, Jay with good vocals, Yeonjun feature for the rap is so killer gives a grungier sound, he brings good ad libs "are...you...ready?" Just a fun song, again, does what it's supposed to do. This album overall just delivers a clean, upbeat, well produced pop album. Like yes the members probably had ZERO SAY in anything they did but i kind of don't care bcuz the production is so good.

Track 7: Attention, Please! is another solid track, good clean chorus, nothing innovative but great fun, the "panic, panic, here we go" in the chorus is fun. Well produced.

Track 8: Interlude: Question - this follows similar format to the intro but different background, more relaxed, same kind of narrative feel and arc though. My one critique is that the interlude is only two songs before the end, but to be fair i can't really think of where would be a better place to put it.

Track 9: Blessed-Cursed - solid single, i've heard it way too many times though and don't like it as much as the others. They were def going for an edgier feel, it is a solid track, good pre chorus, good choreo (easy to remember, learn, and representative). I think they definitely took this songs popularity as the inspo for their next album which sadly is not nearly as good. They do fun pop so well idk why they felt they had to go edgy and autotune but it seems a lot of the groups are doing that these days i guess.

Another note: this album is supposed to be in their vampire boarding school era (re: webtoon) but not enough vampire boarding school nrg. Like theyr really set up all this lore and having the other group be werewolves but very little delivery. I mean drunk dazed was VERY vampiric and slay and that whole mini album was but overall it was not as good an album imo and fever i don't like for them. They should have brought more in here.

Ok i am writing a lot because I am stalling talking about my least favourite track: Polaroid Love. Basic, classic, happy acoustic nothing song, repetitive chorus and verses, NOTHING innovative. I guess they wanted to show the kids actually had vocal ability because the audition show focused so heavily on dancing, but its not a good song imo even though one of the members Heesung says it's his favourite. But it kind of fits the theme, I don't like the transition from Blessed-Cursed bc it just softens out so fast and for what

Last is Outro: Day 2: Very similar to Intro and Interlude, the instrumentation on this one is very fun, reminds me vaguely of some kind of Lorde inspo (VAGUELY) and then builds up, he kind of rambles about "writing his day two", idk what plot they were going for honestly but it closes the album out well, fading out.

Ok wrote more than I thought but those are my thoughts. I need to give Day 2: Manifesto (their new mini album) another listen, but Im just not feeling it. It just doesn't have the same precise production and immaculate vibes as Dimension: Answer.

Overall this album is imo a pop masterpiece, and one of my favourite overall kpop albums, and maybe just albums in general. With one HARD skip and that's it, we are doing pretty well, plus the first half bangers make up for it. Its camp, its concept, its well produced and well delivered, and thematically very fun. Recommend to all :)

discard the measurement if there were any pops or clicks during the sweep or if the impulse response does not resemble previous measurements. The impulse peak is not where it should be, the measurement may have been corrupted. matching the levels each time i get this message. so anyway i match the levels at the calibration stage again and click next.then finish so it takes a measurement. An RTA is really not very good for tuning the room. I think theres also a Smaart extension for one of the iPad/iPhone apps that give you the transfer function display. to find/tweak acoustic issues of the room but for final tuning Smaart is very comfortable. so i switched from the 4th preamp mic input back to the second preamp mic input and i pick up signal on REW. That said, REW & Fuzzmeasure are great tools for waterfall displays etc. i don't even get a signal when the ECM8000 has 48v and I'm clearly picking up audio on the interface but not on REW. using SMUGSoftwares FuzzMeasure 3.0 program and a 96kHz sample rate. I connect the measurement mic to my 4th preamp input and turn on 48v. So I drew a line from the tweeter to the 36 height of my ears, 106 away. So i load back up the calibration file i already had from when i was working with GIK. I don't own a Mac, but some people prefer the commercial (and affordable) FuzzMeasure program meant for Macs.

got it.i click on calibrate and click next so the 1k tone plays constantly. REW also works with Mac and Linux computers. At that point, you should be able to measure a speaker, then switch the second speaker into the same measurement position, and measure it.

#Fuzzmeasure vs rew software

the video shows a small interface and says connect a cable going into an output then into an input. You need to measure the speaker output, using something like REW or FuzzMeasure, so you need a computer, the right software and a measurement mic. Next it goes to setting up the loop back. got it.universal audio apollo selected on output and input device. now in the video it starts by having yo click on preferences and select your interface. FuzzMeasure is one of the many helpful tools I use to do my job effectively.Ok so i started all the way from the beginning following the video. That means even though REW is cool, Dirac simply has superior results. Dirac is automated and has the most advanced algorithms out there (It uses mixed-phase filtering - in effect, a combination of IIR and FIR filters.) and also correct impulse and timing. Before FuzzMeasure, I did all this by ear. REW lets you design filters to correct frequency response. when he isn’t at a panel or doing meet & greets, he’s dragging you everywhere to see the whole convention center (clingyinnit)

he is just so at awe despite this not being his first convention to attend

you’d be surprised he gets tired pretty quickly & stops over to the partner lounge

you both rest for a bit against a wall in a pretty packed hallway despite it being an exclusive area to twitch partners

every time a famous streamer walks by he will yell it out and record it then vlog your reaction, even if they’re surrounded with bodyguards & trying to get to another place quickly

he’d zoom in his camera to their face at a horrible angle and be like

“oh my god it is THE ninja. ninja famous fortnite player, HELLO.”

but he gets completely ignored

then the camera pans out to you, still really zoomed in that the capture is blurry

honestly with wilbur it’s slightly more chill

he already experienced twitchcon before so he’s just glad to see his friends again after so long

wilbur would probably have like a mini concert and gets you front row seats with the rest of the group

but that doesn’t mean before it that you’re not helping him set up

you’d all probably have dinner there and chill, watching the pretty sunset

wilbur honestly doesn’t spend that much time in the actual convention center, he’s probably sightseeing a bit of san diego with you instead

but i could imagine him staying at the tabletop games area playing dnd or smth

it’s just a nice, calming moment after all the loud music mixed with hundreds of conversations at the party

also something about like taking polaroids pictures with wilbur just seems to go hand in hand for me

i’m not sure why but you will be taking lots of pics with wilbur for sure (not necessarily you both in the photo, but of sceneries as well while you’re together!)

literally a dad on vacation with his children, it doesn’t matter how old you are

HOWEVER i could see him wasting a lot of his time at the gaming area and testing new games that are currently on the works of being developed

like “woah y/n, this vr game is sick, you should try it out!”

ngl i feel like phil would plan a visit to disneyland for everyone, like he gets the tickets and everything but once you’re at the park it’s free reign, y’all go everywhere with not much of a plan

the minors would try to cheap out phil and pay less than the others even though everyone else fully paid phil back and everything LMAO

ok but if he’s feeling nice, phil will buy everyone cotton candy/pretzels :D

and if you’re not hungry, he’d at least get you a mickey balloon

surprisingly techno is really calm despite this being like one of his first conventions

but when he finally settles in and gets comfortable, he’s showing the same energy

if you’re playfully yelling, he will yell back

however there’s still those awkward moments that are unavoidable

idk why but something about him makes me think that if you feel tired and want to go back to your hotel room, he’d go with you just to make sure you get there safe

he probably also needs a break from being around everyone else for a moment too LMAO

i could also see him searching far and wide in the artist alley for fanart of himself AHAHAH

walking around with him in the convention consists of someone yelling “BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD” every 5 minutes but you don’t really mind

something about him makes me think he’ll be forced into playing minecraft twitch rivals along with the rest of sbi or smth

and he’s like “oh god, i’m going to be on stage? and people will see my face while i play minecraft?”

“i’m sure it will be fun!”

“i mean i like being competitive and feeding my ego, but i’m not that desperate.. well”

do i imagine techno getting easily tired of being surrounded by a bunch of people and just going back to his hotel room with phil and watching some anime with him? yes

and will you watch even if you have no idea what’s going on? also yes

i feel like after a while of you guys hanging out in techno’s room, the rest of the gang will just slowly join you guys

like eventually everyone is there; you, techno, phil, wilbur, niki, tommy, tubbo, ranboo, etc

and techno is like “wha– where did you guys come from?” because his room is basically packed

and niki could be like “oh we can go if you want!”

then techno just insists that she’s fine “but who let the child get in?” clearly implying tommy’s presence

eventually techno gives in with the company and someone gets a bunch of board games to play from the front desk

lots of yelling and laughing for sure

when it becomes late at night, techno is like half conscious, you’re on your phone, wilbur is staring out the window & enjoying the night view, tommy is passed out on the couch from tiredness, tubbo & ranboo is still wide awake quietly talking, and phil & niki are helping clean up the giant mess

eventually everyone brings themselves to go back to their own room except tommy who won’t budge

you give techno a look and he immediately understands what you were thinking

he rushes to the bathroom to fill up two cups with ice cold water and handed one to you

“on three?”

“okay.. one”

“two”

“three!”

then both of you pour the water on the poor child’s face

he jolts awake and saying a string of curses

“what the fuck techno? y/n too?”

“get out” is the only think techno says that before tommy rushes out with his stuff and you leave right after

FEATURING: denji!

SUMMARY: in which you and your baby-hating boyfriend embark on a secret mission too retrieve a pink plastic spoon.

WARNINGS: profanity, mentions of food

A/N: this is pure crack and chaos and i love it.

The image that came to mind for a “top secret mission” was definitely not the slobbering, babbling lump of a premature human wiggling around in front of you.

“I was expecting something a little more… menacing?”

“Hmph. Who does Aki think he is, assigning us to take care of this buggy caterpillar?”

You clapped a hand onto your boyfriend’s bony shoulder. “Well! Looks like it’s couple bonding day for us!”

“Ow, that hurt!” He swatted your hand away with a sweaty palm before he bashfully averted his gaze. “I… I hate babies. They scare me.”

“Hah! My brave, bold boyfriend… the almighty Chainsaw Man is afraid of mini adults?” You softly grasped his chin with your forefinger and thumb, fixing your eyes into a knowing gaze. “Good to know.”

You heard a grumble from behind you as you knelt down to meet the cooing baby at eye level. “Hello, Aiko, my boyfriend here is a big baby himself, so let’s all get along, alright?”

“Yaya!” The tiny girl waved her chubby arms in a gesture that looked suspiciously like she was pointing at the pouting boy behind you. “Ba-by!”

You flashed Denji a cheeky grin over your shoulder which was met with a dark scowl. “Yes, baby.” Snickering, you scooped the younger, smaller, diapered baby into your arms, lifting her up so she was face to face with the older, larger, hopefully-not-diapered baby. “This is Denji. Can you say Denji?”

“Benchee!” Aiko pressed her chubby little fingers onto your boyfriend’s face, smushing his eyes and nose under her tiny palm.

“Hey! I can’t— Bleh!” He struggled desperately as the baby giggled, mercilessly smacking his face. “Babe, help me out here?”

Chuckling, you pulled her into your chest once again. “Okay, Aiko, why don’t you go to papa’s arms for a little?”

“Papa— hey, if this is gonna be a new thing between us—” He stared in horror at the baby who was suddenly placed in his arms as his shoulders began to tremble. “Uhhhhhhhh…”

“Denji, hold still! Look up!” You centered his stunned face in the middle of your phone screen, snapping a barrage of photos of your bewildered boyfriend with a babbling baby in his arms. “Oh my god, this is adorable.”

“Stop taking— stop taking pictures and help me!” Aiko had begun to attack Denji’s face once again, yet this time, she was wailing like a siren with tears streaming down her chubby baby cheeks. His eyes widened with panic and fear as he frantically searched for something to distract her with. “She’s— shh, shh… don’t cry… (Y/N), she hates me!”

Grabbing what you hoped was her pacifier off of the coffee table in front of you, you tossed it to Denji who fumbled with it in one hand before plugging up the crying baby’s mouth with a pop.

Everyone in the room seemed to deflate at once, including Aiko.

“Ooookay, well, I think it’s time for a snack, because I’m hungry! You’re hungry too, right Denji?”

“No, actually before we came here I ate a slice of toast with—”

“I said, you’re hungry too, right Denji?”

He took one look into your pointed gaze and immediately caught on, bouncing the little girl in his arms. “Oh! Right, we are hungry, so let’s eat!”

Even Aiko seemed to perk up at that.

Denji stood with his hands on his hips, staring at the stocked refrigerator in front of him that was bursting at the seams.

“Well I’ll be damned.”

“Denji!” You clapped a hand over his mouth, casting a cautious glance at the baby over your shoulder. Sighing in relief to see her excitedly fiddling with a pink plastic spoon, you hissed into his ear, “Don’t swear!”

“Okay, okay! Sorry. But look at this, it’s heaven!” You could practically hear his voice melt as he slinked towards the refrigerator in a trance.

Dragging your boyfriend backwards by the back of his t-shirt, you slammed the fridge door shut. “Cut it out! She can’t even eat any of that stuff.” Grabbing his shoulders, you veered him to the marble countertops where an assortment of soft baby foods lay spread out.

His tongue immediately shot out of his mouth im disgust as he scanned the labels of the various jars. “Blech, spinach and pear? Cheese and carrot? Who’s designing this stuff?!” Seeming to search for the least grotesque flavor, his eyes lit up at a familiar label. “Ah, applesauce!”

“Sweet, let’s give that to her!” As Denji tossed the tiny cup into your hands, you ripped the lid off of the container and set it in front of Aiko, who was still fiddling with the plastic spoon in her hands. “Okay, time for yum-yums!” You attempted to reach for the pink utensil in her fubsy hands, but she immediately jerked it away from you. You tried to wrangle the spoon from her stubby little fingers once again, to no avail as she continued to wave it this way and that, just out of your reach.

Panting from the effort to steal this tiny plastic stick from a literal baby, you threw a helpless look over your shoulder at Denji, who was leaning against the fridge and observing the fiasco with a snickering grin. “Grab some popcorn, why don’t you. Help me!”

As if he was snapped back to reality as he realized who was barking commands to him, he immediately straightened his posture and performed a dedicated salute. “Yes, boss!”

Denji marched on over to the other side of Aiko’s high chair, so the two of you were surrounding her. “Nowhere to run,” he drawled in a low voice.

“We aren’t in a wild west movie, Denj.”

“Well, we should be!”

“Fine.” You cleared your throat, smothering your vocal cords with your best southern accent. “Quick draw, winner takes all.”

“You forgot to say, like, pardner or something.”

“If we were partners we wouldn’t be fighting in a quick draw!”

“Oh. Then, uh… cue tumbleweed, cue acoustic guitar music, cue countdown… On the count of three, three, two, one!”

“Three! Wait, wha—”

Denji lunged for the pink stick in Aiko’s grasp, but not before she could quickly jerk her arm away from him, giggling all the while. You took advantage of its positioning closer to your side and reached for the spoon, just as Aiko swung her arm to the other side, smacking Denji right in the center of his face with a thwack.

“Ow! Jeez, baby, why are you so strong?”

Aiko only chortled in response, clearly enjoying watching you two struggle to pry her weapon from her grasp.

“Damnit! Why is this stupid high chair— so— high?!” You waited for the rambunctious baby to rear the spoon back for another hit as Denji scrambled to regain his composure. “I got it!” you hollered as the spoon came just inches away from your face, reaching out to grab it, when—

“AHHHHHH!!!”

A spartan cry roared out as something barreled towards you at the speed of light, knocking you to the floor in a split second with a thunderous crack.

The wind kicked out of your lungs and pain seared throughout your entire body from the nape of your neck down to the tip of your tailbone. As you regained consciousness…

“What the— DENJI!” The bewildered face hovering over you was panting heavily as he braced himself with his arms planted on either side of your head. “What did you— oh my god, is the baby okay?!”

His astonished gaze shifted to his right hand, which he lifted to find a pink plastic prize inside. “I… I did it…” he breathed. His eyes widened as he remembered why the two of you were here in the first place. He rolled off of your body and onto his back, fixing his gaze on the high chair that was still upright.

A tiny giggle. “Hee hee! Benchee!”

The two of you lying on the kitchen floor sagged in relief at the confirmation that the baby in your temporary custody was, in fact, still alive.

“Denji… did you just tackle the love of your life to the ground, nearly giving them a concussion, just to retrieve a single plastic baby spoon?”

“Fuck yeah I did. I mean! Hell yeah I did! No, shit! Damnit! I uhhhh…”

“Yes, you did.” You patted Denji’s hand as the two of you lay side by side on the tiled kitchen floor, gazing up at the ceiling. “Yes, you did.”

Ok I was typing my thought for part 2 and an hour in I lost everything so bear with me!

K: Hi, I'm Kaoru from Dir en grey, starting this week's episode of The Freedom of Expression. Joe, Tasai, welcome.... Ahh, its hot isn't it?

J: One thing I was surprised by was the acoustic opening. During that first song, I was wondering whether the whole set would be acoustic!

J: Because this is Dir en grey, I thought there must be something unique in store, and when I heard that first acoustic song, I got excited that the whole show might be acoustic.

T: haha

J: I did get excited. But it was only the first song.

K: We might have run into a bit of trouble if the whole thing was acoustic, haha.

J: Incidentally, who's idea was it to make the first song acoustic?

K: Well, we had originally planned to do a Sogai tour last year, and we were going to do the same then.

J: Oh, is that it?

T: I see.

J: It wasn't especially planned for this comeback tour..

K: Well, conversely we did also think it would be quite good to do it for this particular show too. Like, we usually always play the SE and then come out one by one, but we thought it could be interesting if we were all already on stage this time.

J: It was very refreshing. As a performer, did you notice a difference in the atmosphere with the audience actually being there in front of you, even though there was no cheering?

K: Of course. It didn't really feel like a live before when there was no audience.

J: Was it more like shooting a music video?

K: Yeah it was kinda like that. Even though we were on stage.... Thats the kinda difference I felt.

J: Ah, yeh, like with no audience response there. But even though the audience were quiet this time, wasn't there like a fantastic enegy flowing through the venue?

K: Yeh, thats probably also due to it being the first show in ages too.

T: There was clapping though.

K: Well, yeh, clapping is the only response possible at the moment. That, and raising your hands in the air. Its tough for performers right now, but I thought it also must have been tough for the audience, only being allowed to clap.

J: Yeah, certainly. To have to put all their praise into clapping..

K: Yeah.

J: This was the first time for you to play in this venue, right?

K: Yeah.

J: How was it, in terms of sound etc?

K: Well, for a first time at a venue, I don't have????, but it was easy to play there.

J: Oh, I see. Was it difficult playing a new venue, whilst also in a comback sense? Did you find rehearsals hard in that sense?

K: Not really, no. Everything went as planned on the day. ??????????????

J: And you were finally able to perform Oboro. I thought that was a pretty big moment too. I interviewed you for Rolling Stone recently, and you said you might not even play Oboro there, haha. I was like, 'Whaaat?!!' Haha.

K: Yeh, we weren't sure whether it would fit.

J: But this was actually your first time to perform the song as a band?

K: Yeah, in public.

J: What are you thoughts on how that went?

K: It went well, I think.

T: It was really good. I should be using better words to describe it, but I can only think of 'it was fab,' and stuff.

J: Well, for me, its the same every time, but I love the song 'Ranunculus' so much, I can't stop singing it after I hear it live.

T: Yeh, haha

J: I really love that song!

T: There are some songs that do that, aren't there?

J: Like, with that last line 'watashi ha ikiru', and Kyo's performance of this song just gets better and better each time. Well, all the songs are performed amazingly, but this song really shakes me up, and I listen to it constantly after I get home. I just love it.

K: Hehe, if people feel like listening to the songs after the live, that makes me happy.

T: I really love the song 'Ningen wo kaburu'. I like seeing the lyrics and stuff show upon the screen behind. It gives me that feeling, like 'This is it!'

J: Ahh, that feeling comes differently for everyone, right?

T: Yeah.

Kami: It really hits you in these times though, doesn't it?

T: Mm, yeh, that may be true.

Kami: Hearing those lyrics 'watashi ha ikiru/I am alive', it really strikes home during these covid times.

J: Oh, it really does, yeah.

Kami: And because you can't cheer, you have space in your head for thinking.

J: Yes, thats right.

T: Oh, maybe, yeah.

K: Well as for the songs we played on the day, we did choose them with that in mind... Not so much to make the crowd go wild, but to allow them to feel the atmosphere of the live, the songs, the members, the performance. This was a setlist that will only ever be performed on that day. So, people may have had space to think. And there were also some songs that really need belting out, so with those Kyo would do things like put more power into it during the main performance than he did during the rehearsal, or he would sing it a bit differently etc, just for this day.

J: Yeah, it really was a thought-provoking performance.

T: Yeah, that goal worked too well, haha.

J: It did. But not in a negative way, it caused very postive feelings. That fact that we finished feeling like this life is not so bad... that is another one of the great things about Dir en grey, I think. And I realised that if it wasn't for this State Of Emergency, this show propbably wouldn't have happened.

K: Yeah, the content was something that we can perform and feel only at this time. Well, of course, the best thing is to be able to perform lives as usual, where the audience can vocalise, but at this current time, we thought we would try to this as something to experience uniquely now. After doing it, I think its been a success. Well, we tried to avoid the type of songs where everyone would want to sing along together. There is a bit in Utafumi where that usually happens, so like, we took that out. But actually, we have a tour coming up...

T: In September, right?

K: Yeh, and we are not sure yet, but its possible that the audience might still be unable to sing along then too, it depends on the situation. But we did decide to do the tour thinking that it would be nice if everyone were by chance, actually able to sing along in that kind of hall atmosphere. Its the same again, we won't know if we don't try it, like how it will all come together with no vocalisation from the audience. No matter how it goes, we are gonna try and see if we can keep it true to ourselves.

J: Ah, it'll be like an experiment.

K: Well, thats part of it. But honestly, it will really be something we could only ever do at this time, and something to feel only at this time. I mean, its not just us, other people are doing this kind of thing too, right? So I think this is something we ought to experience. That kind of excitement you said you felt at Tokyo Garden Theater earlier, Joe, this will be a tour where you can really experience that feeling, so we will do the tour with that in mind.

T: Ah, it'll be fun

J: Yeh, I think a kind of new vision will be born between you and the audience. The recent show was only one day, and it was the first one in a long time, so it came with a tonne of emotions, but the tour will come will a whole different atmosphere, and the situation will also be different from what it is now. I really wanna experience what it will be like.

T: Yeah, I wanna go.

J: Right?

Kami: People can sing along in their hearts, right?

K: Hehe. Kami is pretty serious, isn't he?

T: Or at the end of the show?

K: Well, probably towards the end with 'Hageshisa', and 'Sustain'... It didn't really feel like 'we've arrived'....more like, we were able to do this together. I was a little nervous during the start of the live, and was kinda stumbling in the dark a bit, like, worried about how it would turn out. But during the encore, I felt more like we'd managed to do it.

J: Ah, so at first you were nervous?

K: Well, I don't know anyone who wouldn't be.

J: Of course.

K: I mean, I did hear predictions of what it would be like, because there were other artists who had aready started doing lives, but they are different from us, so I didn' t really know how it would go. I just had to imgine as I went.

J: But with Dir en grey, there is often a sense of reaching the peak towards the end, right?

K: Well, I think its down to the songs too. The songs during the main part of the show were kind of like radiated out from us.. Well, that sounds a bit odd to say... But they were songs to reach you inside. However, in the encore it was more like blasting them out. This was where it struck me that we had done it.

J: I see

K: We have more lives coming up very soon, I'm not sure how exactly we are gonna do it yet, but I want it to be a tour that you can really feel a bit more. Its gonna start in September...

Kami: There was a really great 'live' feel to Sogai.

K: Yeah, I want to increase that feeling with the tour. Like, in these circumstances that we are in, I want people to see this if they can. I know there are people who are unable to come, or people who are worried about coming, but this will probably contain some experiences that are only possible at this time. So for the Autumn tour, if it looks like you can go, I think it will be a unique experience.

J: Well, Sogai was in Tokyo, wasn't it? But the tour starts in Kanagawa, and goes through Miyagi, Shizuoka, Tochigi, Saitama, Nagano, Okayama, Shiga, Osaka, Tokyo, and Aichi. So its good for those who couldn't get to Tokyo.

K: Yes. It'll be nice to have that feeling going to a live venue again for everyone, so if you can, please do come. Well, I think we can end on this note...

Kami: Uh, don't you love that feeling of togetherness? With the audience? Like, 'we're all here together'..That was great! I don't think we'd have had that if covid had never happened.

T: Yeah, I think so.

J: Calling it 'camaraderie', might not be the right word, but that feeling was definitely there, wasn't it?

Kami: Yeah, yeah. I really think everyone should exprience this.

J: Yeah.

K: Well, with us doing this for a year without an audience, I think we felt this the most.

J: Ah, yeah, just having the audience there, and being together is a great thing, right?
