Christmas List Erased Day 5! Beefton the Red-nosed Bull-man! @plasticskeleton who does all of our sketches stopped progress for 3 days to make this, so hope ya'll enjoy it! Yes, she need to redesign and shade all the sheep because why not. No, not even she knows why she drew 9 total sheep, when asked on the matter she started counting them because her tunnel vision is genuinely so bad she didn't know how many she had drawn.

We've been having a lot of fun with this challenge and have way more coming soon. Let us know your thoughts on our pieces and which ones are your favorites! Two weeks and one broken foot later, I have returned.

Bed rest sucks, but there is plenty of time to draw Vaggie <3 Especially because I have fallen victim to the buff Vaggie propaganda, and now you shall be subjected to it as well. Couldn't resist putting Charlie there because me too man. Vaggie is so insanely pretty, I had tunnel vision the whole time drawing her. Expect more of her soon.

Also, finally drew my girls!! They are so silly, I'll have to put together a little comic or something for them soon. To clarify before I even get there, I'll always have drawings of the show before the oc stuff because I understand it's not everyone's cup of tea. I am very grateful for all the engagement with my art regardless! <3

9th feb '24 - [arch] characters, interactions and emotion - making a mini webcomic

Gahhhh Shri this has been an absolutely crazy couple of weeks!!!! Hope you are doing well :)) First of all, WOW! You have a lot of goals, and I’m sure you’ll get them done! I’ve worked a lot on my graphic design during the process of making Winter Wellbeing. If you wanna see a blog post dedicated just to that, I can do so! It would be cool to compare notes on the approaches we take for graphic layouts. If you wanna share your knowledge of camera skills when you build that up that would be awesome 😭😭

It’s been a tough few weeks, art wise. I have been reflecting on my process, motivations to create, the ego and all the baggage that’s lumped into the creative process for me. It turns out there’s a lot. I took some space from my illustration practise (literally for a weekend!) and began to realise how dysfunctional it is. I’ve been writing a lot about that so there may be a larger piece of writing coming about that at some point (no promises!!)

But for now, let's talk about little successes!

I’ve been playing with some characters for a while but I’d hit a bit of a block with the plot. I realised the expectation of having a finished project of high quality soon is unrealistic, and an unhealthy expectation to put on myself. I rarely give myself time to play with concepts for a long time and let the characters, plot and interactions evolve naturally. Maybe this in part came from sticking to the short university module turnaround. I noticed that that short turnaround was causing a lot of block, so I have decided to bench it as a comic for now and focus on using it as a playground - falling in love with the characters, creating stories and drawing them for fun. Maybe years down the line I’ll make them into a comic - we shall see!

I *tried* to do hourly comics day this year and it didn’t quite work for me. I think I made 3 comics? And then got distracted with a bigger project that ended up taking a week or so to complete. Let’s have a look at it, shall we?

First of all, it’s based on an unfinished fanfiction I started a couple of months ago, which was mostly bad, but there was one nice scene that I liked and wanted to expand on. I started by having a look at the script I wrote and thumbnailing on the iPad. I’m away from home at the mo and usually would prefer to do most of my artwork traditionally, but because I don’t have access to a scanner, the whole process was digital this time. A lot of the pages got scrapped because the dialogue wasn’t necessary, and I’m not drawing pages that aren’t necessary.

I thought a lot about posing during the process, acting the scenes out in my mind and sometimes physically, really understanding the emotions of the characters, why they’re saying what they’re saying, their tone and how to convey that though their body language and expression (i find grian really annoying normally [affectionate] but I want this grian to step on me).

Pearl was hard with this because she’s quite erratic and unpredictable in this series, so I wanted her to switch from raw explodey anger to playful jabs at Grian. I’m hoping this comes across as somewhat insane, rather than tonally off and inconsistent. I did super enjoy drawing her and her explosive nature though, especially in comparison to Grian’s coldness.

I played with levels and monotone colour too - I’m not working with multiple colours much at the moment so I’m able to focus on things like values composition, characters and backgrounds. My skills limit the kind of stories I can tell currently, so I’m working to improve those foundations. Maybe when I’m back in the riso studio I can play with colours a little more.

Colours - despite the simple pallete it gets a bit nerdy here.I stuck to specific flat percentages for most of it - Pearl’s hair and Grians jumper are 60%, Grian’s hair and Pearl’s cloak are 20%. Then I added a 14% layer for shadows, using a ahrd blend eraser tool for highlights, making the images quite dark. I fill a layer with texture from Forystr’s riso brush for procreate, and turn it into a 40% opacity colour dodge layer. This gives it some much needed texture and makes the lighting feel low and nighttimecore. It also pushes the values to look really nice - I tend to be too scared to push them by myself.

I tried a few different colour layers to get a *vibe* but settled on a low percentage riso blue in a colour layer. All layers besides the riso blue are in a riso black, colour picked from a riso colour pallete. I learnt these tools - using percentages to get good values - from working with risograph. I really recommend having a look at these techniques and doing some monotone work. It's really improved by character designs, page layouts and compositions.

That's all from me today, though I have had MANY other thoughts over the past two weeks about creating, but perhaps we'll dive into them another time. Just one more story, please? The child whined. I want to hear the one about the sun and the moon again!

They sighed. Very well. Once more, and then you must rest, young master. There is much to do tomorrow.

I know! I know!

The child climbed into their lap as they laughed. Their four arms cradled the boy in a gentle embrace as he settled in with a beaming smile on his face.

Now then, there are many legends about the sun and the moon; some say they are lovers, some say they are brother and sister, and some even say they are the eyes of a giant, watching as the many worlds turn gently among the stars, but none of these are true.

The sun and the moon are son and mother. It is why even during the day, her faint shape can be seen in the sky. She watches over her child, and when he grows tired, she blankets the heavens with her arms and clutches him close so he may rest. That is why the moon shines.

Doesn’t she get tired too? The boy asked. Who holds her when she is sleepy?

They flinched. You have never asked that before, young master.

Well, she needs to rest too, right?

No, young master, the moon never rests. She is always there…

She must be very tired then. The boy mused.

Yes… I’m certain she is.

In the silence that followed, the two raised their heads toward the darkened skies. Stars and faraway worlds twinkling and shimmering as far as the eye could see. Perhaps beyond. Evocative, yet empty. Yearning for the majesty of her presence.

Do you think she’s lonely?

No. How could she be? With all of those stars about her... They placed their chin atop the boy’s head—a vain effort to keep their tears from falling. They gathered the child’s small hands into their ancient ones. You should take care not to be so transparent, young master.

Why?

Because this is a dangerous place.

But I am The Sun! The boy declared proudly. No one can hurt me!

Temperance, young master. They responded with some difficulty as they gave the boy’s hands a protective squeeze. Would that he could understand things were not so simple.

Temperance?

Yes. Someday soon you shall understand what that means. Now, that is enough about stories. To bed.

The boy grumbled and complained but did as he was bid and drifted off to sleep. His apparent peace widened the pit of sorrow in the four-armed one’s stomach. And guilt, with its creeping and forceful hands, brought them into submission once and for all as their head lowered and their eyes closed.

Forgive me, Your Majesty. Not just for returning to this place but for the treason I am about to commit. But I cannot sit idly by as The Night draws near...

Let’s Celebrate Love: a Valentine’s Day Collab

As February not only marks as the month of love (with Valentine’s Day), but also, according to fanon, the birthday month for Jotaro, and as a personal milestone, it’s been a year since I created Anika (her birthday is in December, same as mine) and a year since I selfshipped with Jotaro, I decided to create this Valentine’s Day collab dedicated to only oc x canon shippers and selfshippers for fandoms. Here are the details:

A collab for self-shippers, self-insert x canon and oc x canon shippers, so feel free to be as self-indulgent as you want. <3

I also accept polyamorous relationships and love triangles if you wanted to include them ^_^

As it is a NSFW collab, all genres are allowed, INCLUDING dark content. That being said, minors, ageless blogs, blank blogs, b0ts, and pro-shippers, please DNI with this collab.

Fandoms: Mainly JJBA (since this is predominantly a JJBA OC and selfshipping blog), but I do extend this to all fandoms.

what do you draw for? I am open to being flexible with certain characters so please feel free to dm me with questions!

when can i expect my comm? I don't have a good estimate unfortunately! I am a full time artist but some pieces take 20 minutes and some can take 3 weeks. If the piece is needed by a specific time please tell me beforehand and I will let you know if I can do it.

can i change something in my comm? Yes! I allow free alterations to any piece before I line it. After that you have a limited amount of alterations before I must charge for them due to the difficulty with altering something once colored and inked.

can i post it once its done? Sure! I only prohibit my art being used for commercial use unless I've discussed the terms with you previously.

do you draw just self ships or character x character? Both and anything in between!

FILENAME: I despise thee, who holds thine heart within his fist.

NOTES: ITS FINALLY DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ITS DONE ITS OVER WITH GODLESS ANIMAL/DARLING ADORED/I DESPISE THEE YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! oh my GOD, ive tried to conceptualize this piece for WEEKS, i actually planned on posting it aishin -> urazen -> urashin BUT i cannot help myself i had to give the people (me and the other urashin enjoyers) something to chew on. Originally, this piece wasn't supposed to look like this At All it was supposed to be much more..... idk, boring. It looked boring and had too much going on (RIP rope you shall not be missed).

Then, one night recently, I was like "what if it was a hug." because WHAT IF it was a HUG. This composition feels much more on par w/ this series, extremely close glimpses of saints and tragedy holding each other close, studying and committing the moment to memory. Just in case.

But back to this piece solely, I knew in my second concept (which i didnt post) that i wanted to incorporate the cross seals from Godless Animal, both as a "fuck you get sealed" and also as a catalyst for being completely and totally Enraptured with someone. The slight difference is of course Kisuke stabbing himself And Aizen, which is mostly just symbolism about how much Kisuke devalues and objectifies himself. He is not a person, a victim of circumstance; he is a defective shield, something rusted and shattering at the slightest strain, and he has failed to do his job. I covered Aizen's face because i didnt want to draw it, tbfh..... but it can also be a callback to Shinji's mask in the other two pieces. ONE THING, however, that i'm v proud of is the hogyoku (im on desktop so excuse my no-accent writing), as it stands in for the halos/suns found in the other pieces. Nothing about two-way subjugation and submission is holy, this piece is not one of silent dissection (godless animal), and not one of blind reverence (darling adored). Its one of desperation and Apology. Idk. its the last installation so im a little sentimental HAHAHHA.

Working on these pieces, conceptualizing new ways to consume and create these characters was so fun. I had so much fun creating these works without really talking about them or their process, simply creating and putting out little subsections of my art. I don't work digitally very often, and i dont use color (besides hues of gray) in my traditional work, so when i get the chance i really try to exercise my color theory brain. Rose x Kanaya colors, im not sorry. goth Freudian-slip girl to aizen enjoyer pipeline is REAL and i am a victim of it.

Genuinely, thank you for all the notes and comments on my other pieces, both from this collection and just towards my art and writing in general. I get so excited to read all of your comments and notes and reblogs, it does so much for my drive to create. If it weren't for some close friends and mutuals, I don't know if I'd even post my work online for anyone except myself and the..... lemme check......... ONE THOUSAND AND FIFTY-THREE OF YOU WHO FOLLOW ME. what the FUCK. Anyways, this rant is getting too long and i have GOTTTT to post this soon so i can acquire sweet sweet sweet compliments on it tbh. ROBIN - CAREFUL AND CONSIDERATE

"Personality: Robin is a penguin who is considered quiet and contemplative. They're always willing to offer a flipper to those who need it. Often times they would rather help others than help themself out.

While they can seem nervous, they have grown a lot since coming to the island - even if there are setbacks along the way.

Background:

Born not on the island - but arrived when they were just a little chick. Their father and older sibling were actually part of the team that helped get Club Penguin into a site ready for penguins to come live in loads as well as the very beginning construction plans of everything alongside Aunt Arctic.

Things… occurred, and soon Aunt Arctic was the sole one left on their project with their sibling gone and their father taking them to another island to live after. A very stern penguin overall - having disagreed with the direction that the island went on - he was very harsh on Robin.

When they were a teenager, they came back to the official opening! It was… very overwhelming for Robin to be surrounded by so many penguins after being home-schooled for so long, but soon enough, they found a footing. They finished school, got themself a job as a photographer for the yearbook (choosing not to help with the newspaper for the sake of bad memories left in the past) - and somehow found themself wrapped up in being an agent.
