Since coming out of the hospital and learning of the spy, Vincent has been more vigilant of his surroundings. He felt uneasy that someone might still be following him...even in another country. After resting he was a bit more alert, so just to be cautious, he asked Jay if he had any hats to wear to hide his face, especially in the busy town centre.

Some paintings in the building caught Renee's attention and she took some photos. One stood out in particular. It had a plane statue and she could see some people in the background. Armed with weapons.

Renee: Jay do you know what these paintings are of? Jay: These are of Chestnut Ridge and the plane one…I dunno. Maybe the next town? Or made up? Renee: Oasis Springs doesn't look like that. I wonder if that's Strangerville.

Sooo Paralives and the Brainwashing EA has done

It's funny. Paralives launched a gameplay video that looks really good, along with some announcements. One of them being that they won't be offering paid DLC. I was watching Satch on Sims and him, plus a few other people, seem to think this is a bad move.

No shade, but it's easy to tell people who don't really game and all they play is the Sims. Like EA got yall so brainwashed that you actually think you're SUPPOSED to be getting charged for base game features.

His concern was wanting a different world to play in or different aethitics. Who said we can't get that for free? We may not know what all features Paralives are going to offer, but what rule says that they can't give us another world to play in for free? I mean literally, there are so many games that do free updates and only offer DLC if it's a niche theme that not everyone would be into, or if they're adding ADDITIONAL gameplay that has no resemblance to what's already in the game.

Only EA removes base game features just to sell them back to you later. Or expect you to buy a multitude of different DLCs that have the exact same theme or niche. Now don't mind me while I gripe on this point a little.

Growing Together and Parenthood should have been one generations themed pack.

Discover University and High School Years should have been one pack focused on education.

All of the occults (vamps, wolves, witches, ghosts, aliens, mermaids, plant people) all should have been in ONE paranormal pack.

Features from Dine Out should have been included in Get to Work. There was no need for that to be seperate DLC when they both relate to active careers.

For Rent and City Living should have been one pack.

Simple features that should not be locked behind a pay wall, and I'm not even talking weather. Like why do I have to buy DLC just for my sims to have access to a hot tub (Perfect Patio), an ice cream maker (Cool Kitchen), a popcorn maker (movie night), for them to have the ability to carve a pumpkin or have different holloween costumes, when Holloween is a holiday that comes in the base game with base game ability to trick or treat, etc. (Spooky Stuff), I have to buy Vintage Glamour just to have a butler (if anything the butler should have been in get famous along with everything in the luxury stuff pack. These are all things that should just be base game that they force you to buy DLC to have access to.

And speaking of weather, I do feel like packs like seasons, pets, laundry day, bust the dust, and my wedding stories should all be base game features. Yeah I don't care if we're used to paying for stuff like seasons and pets, things can and should change. These are all life basics, why am I paying extra?

Now I'm not all negative. There are packs that actually make sense. Get Famous makes sense. So does Island Living, Strangervile, all the vacation packs (jungle, outdoor, snowy). Hell, even Journey to Batuu made sense. Yeah, hear me out. These are all OPTIONAL packs. Stuff that not everyone is going to play with but they each bring something different to the game. Now whether any of these packs are filled to the brim with playable content, thats another story. But at least the concept makes sense.

Okay, off my soapbox and moving on.

I will forever and always use No Man's Sky as an example of a development team that chose integrity over money. That team has been releasing update after update for YEARS. Significant updates too. Updates that completely change the gameplay mechanics, adds brand new features to the game, or updates/changes the look of the game. All for free. Yes, it's normal. Not normal in the sense that these companies should be releasing broken games or not delivering on promises to begin with, but at least they weren't money-hungry assholes about it. The amount of updates that game has, quite a few could have been paid DLC and they didn't do that. Now if they started releasing DLC with specialty ships or different cosmetic features, I would have no problem paying for that cause it's optional.

Paralives knows what they're doing. As long as they are focused on making the base game everything it's supposed to be, I don't see why they couldn't sell the type of optional DLC that makes sense in the future. But I'm certainly not going to say that they're making a mistake by not having paid DLC right now.

I can definitely see them adding things like weather, a new life stage, or new clothes/build objects for free and that's dope. I'm excited about Paralives more so than Life By You. But either way, I'm just glad EA has competition in the life simulation genre now that isn't just about farming management.

Everyone's heard of Johnny Zest. (Or so he hopes.) Former Landgraab, up-and-coming comedian, a friendly, outgoing goofball hanging around Oasis Springs just waiting to make it big.

But even Johnny can't shake his family's streak of ambition. It's got him thinking: I'm not the same as my parents, but why is that so bad? I live laugh love my life. Maybe I can create a live laugh legacy that allows every Sim in my family to follow their own dreams and goals...

Johnny's legacy aims to celebrate differences. It's okay to not be like the family members that have come before you! In fact, for this challenge, it's required.

Live Laugh Legacy Rules

Your challenge is to help Johnny carry on this new legacy through ten unique generations:

You must assign each generation ONE adult aspiration category. That generation may only complete aspiration(s) within that category. That includes heirs, spouses, etc., any young adult or older Sim living in the current household that is not from a previous generation.

Your Generation 1 category (Johnny's generation) must be "Popularity", though it's up to you which Popularity aspiration(s) you choose to complete.

You cannot repeat a category once you have used it for a generation. All Child and Teen categories/aspirations are excepted from this rule.

You must complete at least one adult aspiration each generation before continuing to the next.

There are exactly 10 Base Game aspiration categories, one for each generation including Johnny's. If you have additional packs installed, you may have more categories to choose from.

(optional) Every heir must have the Ambitious trait, because some family legacies are harder to shake than others...

This challenge is meant to be bare bones, allowing you to put your personal creativity and spin on it. You might even play through it once, then play it again a different way. Play as-is or add your own bonus goals and guidelines to create the game you want!

Ninjago Strangerville But I Hacked The Objective With The Power Of Friendship

So I have seven people in my household, right?

Which means seven people were taking photos and gathering evidence and so on. But you need 15 in your inventory to get the keycard.

Well, I just found a hack.

That’s literally just moving all the evidence to one Sim’s inventory. (Lloyds inventory in this case)

AND THAT COUNTS

I just found a hack. You’re welcome. Just have multiple sims in your household gathering evidence.

Idk how other people who played Strangerville did it, but I’m sure they didn’t have as many sims as I do.

(I play with big households ALL THE TIME. Im pretty good at juggling everyone.)

Anyway, we got the info, so we invited over Darwin to our base.

But we had to become friends first.

So Lloyd just had to talk to him about the sun. And also they’re ninja and elemental masters and they saved the merge and they can help.

In my headcanon, Strangerville is a part of Ninjago that formed through the Merge.

And he reluctantly gave the keycard up.

But we didn’t go to the lab cause everyone’s needs were bad. So we spent the rest of the day at home grinding money for the rocket. Cause if you remember, that’s our other objective in this: Build a rocket so we could go home.

Basically, you have a bad need, take care of it, you don’t, you’re painting.

That included grinding painting.

(Kai is mad cause mad. He wants to paint houses on fire because fiyah. Don’t ask.)

Lloyd took naps on this log way too much.

I think he’s gone insane enough that he’s obsessing over a LOG.

I didn’t realize it earlier but this lot is actually a vampire lair…? (Lot trait)

Interesting twist to this place. And we kept getting plasma packs in the mail.

That I SOLD, cause no one here is a vampire.

There was some bonding time. Kai and Nya got to watch TV on the bed together which was cute.

Zane is erratic so he was ‘talking with friends’ (probably P.I.X.A.L) and Nya just… took it. Smiling.

And they also trained together. Nya showing off.

Sora kept getting stalked.

A stranger crashed into our place…

It was… the guy at the bar that was nagging her.

A mean guy AND a stalker. Great.

He just stayed in our base and danced.

Much to Kai’s paranoia.

Welcome to the plot I guess sir.

And Arin got ATTACKED trying to take Riyu out for a walk.

Not kidding, this possessed lady went up and tried to assault him!

I was so scared the possession was contagious that we were gonna lose Arin.

No he’s fine. But I told him “Get back inside, kid! We’re not losing our children!”

I actually don’t know if they can get possessed or not. I know you CAN get possessed. I just don’t know how.

1. What’s your favorite sims death? well, I prefer my sims not to die at all 🤭 if they do, it’s usually from a good old age

2. Alpha CC or Maxis Match? today it’s mostly maxis match / maxis mix. I had an alpha phase during the sims 2-3 era though

3. Do you cheat when your sims gain weight? nope. I do not mind if they gain/lose weight on their own

4. Do you use move objects? always

5. Favorite mod? First Impressions and PreferencesPlus, these are relatively small mods, but they give sims some much needed depth

6. First expansion/game/stuff pack you got? for Sims 4 it was City Living and Vampires, if I remember correctly. for sims in general, it was Makin’ Magic🪄

7. Do you pronounce “live mode” like aLIVE or LIVing? aLIVE

8. Who’s your favorite sim that you’ve made? well, I played with a particular redhead sim a few years ago, he was beautiful and very evil 😁 had a lot of fun, will definetely recreate him in the future

9. Have you made a simself? no, mostly because I’m generaly bad at making sims based on real people

10. What sim traits did you give yourself? geek, ambitious and socially awkward. and also lazy and perfectionist ambitious-lazy-perfectionist combo is great, I know

awwh, hi there jingles! 💛✨ it's so good to hear from you again! i missed you a lot during my hiatus okay, i love seein' your name back in my notifs! thank you for givin' me an excuse to talk about the hadleys: they helped me fall back in love w the sims and i adore them!

the hadleys, plus tia + her family, are thirteen strong and four generations deep! it began when i was limited to playing on my mac with minimal cc, and thus, steven hadley was born. i wanted to start from uni and see where the game would lead me - the game spawned rangi as one of her dorm roomies, and from there it was history.

steven and rangi were thick as thieves. they would prank each other's toilets, autonomously buzzer each other, and kiss and canoodle just as much. when i tell you these sims showed me the delight of autonomous sim romances! even if they're little lines of code, they genuinely loved one another.

rangi kealoha (the green ghost who i forgot to take solo pics of oh god) is headcanon'd into the universe as makoa's cousin (maternal), and the two of them moved to sulani after they graduated college. they had their baby boy blue very early (before they graduated) thanks to rangi's family aspiration, and their twin daughters selene and luna followed shortly after: they took the kids to selvadorada when they all aged up (they were all abt 4 days apart in age bc i was very impatient on my mac lmao) and were married at the top of a temple!

because i'm impatient as hell, the hadleys developed a tradition of their heirs leaving home once they aged up into a teen (because i was not dealing with children and teens goin to school all at once on a tiny little macbook) and blue moved out to live with his godmother, lilith pleasant (who was hot af, steven's best friend, and just died in-game rip) in glimmerbrook.

fascinated by magic and spells since his youth (he befriended dolphins in sulani and would stay up "reading under the covers" for ages), blue was exhaustive in his search for a way to the magic realm. once he got there, he was determined to become a spellcaster: and simeon silversweater, though reluctant and certainly irritated by this plucky newcomer, hesitantly agreed to turn him into one.

and then blue developed a crush on him when he aged up and i let it play out because i'm a dirty, dirty sinner.

(the glows around them are their immortality overlays! blue worked tirelessly to craft perfect potions of immortality for himself and his lover: seeing as his dad just passed in-game, he's kinda regretting not making some for his parents dfhkld)

circe hadley was blue and simeon's firstborn: same gender couples can have genetic babies in my game with no questions, bc it's the sims. she was originally going to be the third generation's heir before i went back to blue and simeon's household and discovered tia. (her original randomized name before i retrograded it to tiamat)

circe followed hadley tradition and moved to strangerville when she aged up. i wanted to play through all the packs i hadn't bothered with in my first few playthroughs! circe met tristan (her now-husband whose last name i forget woops) when she was gathering information for the strangerville mystery - he was a military agent at the time.

(yes he was also a young adult at the time they met i'm a piece of trash)

the two of them saved strangerville together (alongside jess sigworth and erwin pries) and moved to brindleton bay to start a family. their daughter carolina (left, firstborn) and their son rango (right, secondborn) were the first great-grandbabies of the hadley legacy, and rangi was able to meet them both before he passed. 🥺

needless to say, i am very excited to explore the new family-themed pack with these guys! i loved my not-so-berry family, but playing the game fully sandboxed within the realm of the hadleys was such a fun and inspiring way to get me back to what i loved about gameplay as a kid (long before reshades and screenshots and edits), and for that i will love them so so so much.

Took a break from Kate & Sebrina because I felt like playing with the new kits & new CC, a new to me mod, and the Portsims save file - none of which fits Sebrina and her style. So I moved good ol' Iggy Pancakes to Oasis Springs and built him a house.

I was inspired by this house, but it's certainly not exact. I kept it under 40K but I didn't cheat him any extra money so he's been struggling.

I had come across The Selvadoradese Owl mod and, since the Maltese Falcon is one of my favorites, I had to play. Iggy is a detective.

It's pretty fun but basically just a rabbit hole. But I like the continuing story. I really just wanted something different. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but I'd love another Strangerville-esq game pack with a mystery to solve.

I do love the Portsim save file though, so many interesting characters!

However, I have not been taking screenshots - I've just been playing (these are actually the only ones after 10 in game days). I don't normally play in Oasis Springs but I'm really loving it right now. It's unfinished in this version of the save file but that's fine, I've been adding some builds. I'm really just into the new & madeover Sims!

So if there's a bit of break between this and Sebrina, I'm happily solving crimes and getting Iggy into trouble (again).

What's your favorite sims death? Hmm I don't really know... I guess death by cowplant just because it's a classic.

Alpha CC or Maxis Match? Maxis Match!

Do you cheat when your sims gain weight? No I don't really like to but I will confess that I have used the weight loss potion a grand total of twice a long time ago, once to see what it did and another time because I'd made it in the science career, however I hat using it and always regret it. So, yeah, I leave their weight alone unless they're like sims that would be really into staying fit or something.

Do you use move objects? All of the time. I wouldn't survive without it 😆

Favorite mod? UI cheats!

First Expansion/Game/Stuff Pack? Seasons! By the time I got the game I think they were up to Island Living in releases so I decided that seasons were highest on the priority list. I have no idea what my first game and stuff packs were 😅

Do you pronounce "live mode" like aLIVE or LIVing? aLIVE mode because I always thought of it like a camera being live, like live recording, if that makes sense.

Who's your favorite sim that you've made? Corey! I love him so much and had such a great time playing as him! 😄

Have you made a sim self? Yeah! I make one about the same time every year or so (it's not really consistent 😅). I'm about due for a new one now...

What sim traits do you give yourself? I'd give myself socially awkward, creative, and clumsy. And the Bestselling Author aspiration 😉

Which is your favorite EA hair color? I think the newest black swatch because I use it all of the time. But I really like the darkest brown swatch too I think it's really pretty.

Favorite EA hair? The one male hair from Discover University (I gave it to Corey for the Strangerville round of the Globetrotter Challenge) because I love the texture of it so it's only gone to my two favorite sims pretty much. I also love the one Dream Home Decorator hair, the side parted one with the really defined part I don't know why I just love that one!

Favorite life stage? Young Adult! There's a lot to do during that life stage and it's fun to start over and stuff. I've really enjoyed doing Adult makeovers though since I've been working on realism so there's that.

Are you a builder or are you in it for the gameplay? Gameplay! I'll build things when the inspiration strikes or I want something to be my own that I built but otherwise I stick to gameplay and CAS and enjoy everyone else's beautiful builds.

Are you a CC creator? No but if I had the time I wouldn't mind dabbling in some pose making... I'm just not sure what poses I'd make 😅

Do you have any simblr friends/a sim squad? Yeah I've definitely made friends on here and I have so many lovely mutuals that have made it awesome to be here 🥰

What's your favorite game? (1, 2, 3, or 4) Unfortunately I've only gotten to play 4 so I'll say 4 but I wiiish I could buy 3 or 2 because they look so fun but I'm happy with playing 4 for now.

Do you have any sims merch? Nope.

Wow it has changed so much since I started they used to look terrible I feel so bad for them 😭 They didn't look too bad but compared to how I make sims now it's pretty different. I used to lean a lot more into a cartoony style with bigger eyes and stuff, but honestly since my drawing style has changed I think my sims style changed to reflect that new style, going to more realistic eye sizes and experimenting with different body types, noses, etc. so I'd like to think it's a lot better now.

Who's your favorite CC creator? RatBoySims and Rebouks for poses and sforzinda and laeska for CAS (that's a lot of favorites but they're all so good!)

How long have you had a simblr? Since October of 2021!

How do you edit your pictures? I use Krita for most of my editing like adding text and other fancy things.

What expansion/game/stuff pack do you want next? I want bands so bad! Only because it would just be so cool! I feel like they even have the perfect base with the club system because I imagine it working in a similar way. Also, I feel like a pack with bands could also include some bonus additions for music in the game like maybe some new instruments?

What expansion/game/stuff pack is your favorite so far? Okay favorite expansion is probably City Living I looove San Myshuno so much and all of the festivals! Game Pack is probably Vampires or Werewolves and my favorite Stuff Pack is Nifty Knitting!

I’ve been playing a lot these days :)

1 : I’m discovering a lot of packs I missed with Nayiah and Ian. A lot happened to them since Strangerville. They’re finally engaged and I wanted to discover the wedding pack with them but they actually have no friends really and no family soooo ... I think I might make them friends with the DH cast now that they met. Nayiah is a bit friend with Soso already.

2 : This is Nayiah and Ian’s closet/wardrobe. Fun fact : most of these things are Ian’s stuff.

3: Is this really a dog ?!

4/5/6 : Ian was a clothe designer level max until Nayiah announced him she was pregnant (yeaaaaah!). So they’re delaying the wedding while Nayiah is expecting, they (I) found cute to have their kids enjoying the wedding as well. Ian decided to become (and I decided to test) a home decorator and guess who called him for his first mission ? The DH gang ! They all look super happy at then end and all super cute, especially Destiny ^^ Leïla also got a bit in love when she saw Ian ... Drama is coming !

Sharing stills from my Stranger Things Save. Steve and Billy spent a day at the park, Max got upset because she was too little to go, and Billy got scolded for throwing a tantrum, but the two made up in the end. :)

I’ll probably share more bits and pieces from this save to #thestrangerlife as I play, but I am so pumped for the *expected* high school expansion pack coming to the sims 4, that I am thinking of starting another blog series. It has been awhile since I have been inspired enough to work on one, but this save is so precious and I might finally be able to do it justice.

Summary:

The Stranger Life

Billy wasn’t happy when his military father remarried and moved their family to the backwards town of Strangerville. Something really weird is going on in this town, but Billy’s not gonna get any answers from his dad who has gotten stricter and more secretive than ever.

At first, Billy was angry all the time, stuck babysitting his stepsister who can’t seem to take a hint that he doesn’t need another shadow; but when Billy met Steve everything changed. The two quickly became friends and as a new world of adventures opened up to him, Billy started to appreciate life in this cooky town with his new family.

But will their friendship stand the test of time when Billy & Steve become teens and life brings new schools, new cliques, more pressure, and new love?

This generation is really fun to play - from Ash’s childhood in Strangerville and Evergreen Habour, messy fboy years, failing university and joining the force, settling down with his long time crush and friend (who had initially rejected him), having the twins, performing his guitar solos and writing a best selling motivational book

Maura’s friendship with Eila and keeping their crush on Ash a secret, moving to UBrite dorms to study Art History, leaving the brewing company to start her own business in San Myshuno while Ash pursued his career, struggling to cope with being a new parent and losing their father prematurely

I am excited for the Gen 3 twins, Sage and Bryn, to age up into teens and play the new pack, but Gen 2 is shaping up to be just as fun as Gen 1 with Aspen and Alex.

New Legacy Pack Challenge!

I have been playing the Sims for decades, and not once have I ever played out an entire sim lifetime. Most of my saves are abandoned once my sim reaches their Adult years. And if they have children, I get so hyperfocused that I get overwhelmed and don't go much farther than aging them up to a young adult.

Not to mention, I have every pack - when you play on a console, it's the only way to get new content - but I've never dug into all the gameplay that comes with each one.

So, to keep myself consistent and perhaps one day get that sweet, sweet Alphabet Legacy trophy, I'm doing Rosannatxt's Pack Legacy Challenge. She has a fantastic notion dashboard setup that I am using to keep track of everything.

Because I am a console player, I can't use mods, and cheats are out the window since I still want to earn PlayStation trophies. I am reordering the packs and adapting the rules a bit so they are better suited for the console.

On that note, I'm starting with Strangerville and solving the mystery of the giant crater sitting on the outskirts of town with my legacy founder, Lucas Ashcroft. I'll introduce him and his story in the next post.

Everyone's heard of Johnny Zest. (Or so he hopes.) Former Landgraab, up-and-coming comedian, a friendly, outgoing goofball hanging around Oasis Springs just waiting to make it big.

But even Johnny can't shake his family's streak of ambition. It's got him thinking: I'm not the same as my parents, but why is that so bad? I live and laugh and love my life. Maybe I can create a live laugh legacy that allows every Sim in my family to follow their own dreams and goals...

Johnny's legacy aims to celebrate differences. It's okay to not be like the family members that have come before you! In fact, for this challenge, it's required.

Live Laugh Legacy Rules

Your challenge is to help Johnny carry on this new legacy through ten unique generations:

You must assign each generation ONE adult aspiration category. That generation may only complete aspiration(s) within that category. That includes heirs, spouses, etc., any young adult or older Sim living in the current household that is not from a previous generation.

Your Generation 1 category (Johnny's generation) must be "Popularity", though it's up to you which specific Popularity aspiration(s) you choose to complete.

You cannot repeat a category once you have used it for a generation. All Child and Teen categories/aspirations are excepted from this rule.

You must complete at least one aspiration each generation before continuing to the next.

There are exactly 10 Base Game aspiration categories, one for each generation including Johnny's. If you have additional packs installed, you may have more categories to choose from.

*Be aware, the Animal aspiration category only has one aspiration. Feel free to combine it with the base game Nature category instead.

Additional Rules

No money cheats at any point during the challenge. All other cheats, mods, and custom content are ok!

Designate one heir per generation to carry on the family just like any standard legacy challenge. A new generation starts when the next heir ages up to young adult.

(optional) Every heir must have the Ambitious trait, because some family legacies are harder to shake than others...

That's it! Those are the rules! This challenge is meant to be bare bones, allowing you to put your personal creativity and spin on it. You might even come back to try it again a different way. Play as-is or add your own bonus goals and guidelines to create whatever game you want to play.

Sephiroth is proving to be a little more fun to play now that he’s a vampire, but that’s in part because he’s doing more new things again. For example he’s taken up fishing so he can make his own plasma packs. Yes he caught and kept a batfish and put it in a boneyard bowl. In his new windowless bedroom down in the basement, which is decorated to largely match what’s in his old bedroom upstairs.

He still does a lot of gardening, mostly after dark though sometimes he risks daylight (and is working toward being a daywalker to make it less problematic for him). Because of all the paintings and books he creates to fill in his largely sleepless hours, his fame is still on the rise, so I decided to have him get the perks that give him corporate partnerships and improved video editing skills, and built him a little video creation/editing room down in the basement. One of his first partnership offers was for a fishing video, which worked out well with his newest hobby being just that. So he now has a flying drone and I’ll probably get him a streaming drone the next time I play him.

His BFF Molly is willing to let him drink from her, and he’s been befriending his maid so she’ll do the same (she’s very pleased by the string of 100 simolean tips).

Jaxson meanwhile has completed the childhood motor skills aspiration and moved on to the mental skills, so that’s been a reason for lots of chess, reading, and getting his homework done.

Jaxson might be either genderfluid or trans. At least him-in-my-head has expressed interest in switching over to potentially including some feminine outfits once he ages up to teen.

Also, Sephiroth met a descendant of one of my previously created families (Benson McKay, currently a teen - descended from Jon McKay, who was the sim I played in StrangerVille), and hit it off well with him. Benson is also a very pale blond, and is now mentally bookmarked as possibly getting involved with Seph once he’s a tad older. Because I’d enjoy bringing that family into this one too. There might even need to be a second science baby before I finally switch over to moving Jaxs out to his own place. Actually he might stay at home right through college, since I’m now back to being used to playing, and it’d give me more time to work on Seph as a vampire. Subject to change if I start to find it frustrating or boring, of course :)
