Transits that Enhance Beauty & Attraction
Tumblr media
✰ my masterlist
︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵
❦ Venus Hours
Click here to calculate planetary hours. I use planetary hours more so as a life hack, it's not something I would go out of my way to plan my days around. But, Venus hours are definitely worth being taken advantage of. All activities related to beauty, love, and the arts will have an especially heightened effect when occurring during Venus hours. Plan dates during these hours, and partake in beauty routines. Taking selfies and posting them during a Venus hour might result in heightened attention.
︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵
❦ Fridays
There's a reason why this is everyone's favorite day of the week. This is the perfect time to engage in pursuits of pleasure. Connecting with people comes easier on Fridays which is why it’s so favorable for social activities. Making an effort to relax is essential. Go shopping so you can buy yourself something beautiful. Eat good food, put effort into your appearance, and listen to music that makes you ponder about love. Wear pink or green if you can.
︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵
❦ Venus in the First House
People genuinely look GOOD when Venus is transiting through their first house. It is also natural for people to make adjustments to their appearance during this time frame, and it always serves them well in the end. When Venus is in your first house, you can look forward to a month full of good hair days and clear skin. That alone is usually all it takes to greatly boost one's confidence. Attracting attention, especially the romantic kind, also occurs during this transit. I always have encounters that leave me feeling really good about my appearance when Venus is in my first house.
︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵
❦ Neptune in the First House
Getting in touch with yourself allows for your inner beauty to radiate outwards, which is oftentimes the result of this transit. The most beautiful people you know are also always the kindest. Acting on compassion will enhance how attractive you appear to others. An air of mystery tends to hang around people when Neptune is transiting through their first house. It is common to have people yearning and fantasizing about you during this transit.
︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵
❦ Venus in the Fifth House
This transit brings a lot of fun into my life. There's always an uptake in invites to social engagements, and I’ve had lots of flings and short term relationships begin under this transit. I also tend to discover a lot of new music when Venus transits through my fifth house. My only advice for this time frame is to take full advantage of it! I think leaning into the spontaneity of this transit results in a carefree attitude. You won’t be caught up in appearances because you’ll be having too much fun to really care.
︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵
❦ Neptune in the Tenth House
I’m not going to get into all the situations that may occur during this transit. Neptune transiting through the tenth house doesn’t have much to do with physical beauty and attractiveness. But, it is a good time to try and capture photographs of yourself. You’ll look especially good on camera.
︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵
❧ Sun Conjunct / Sextile / Trine Sun
During these transits, people often find themselves feeling lively and rejuvenated. A general sense of excitement and love of life is felt quite deeply. This type of energy brings out the best in people and they glow from the inside out. An excellent time to throw parties and host celebrations.
︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵
❧ Sun Conjunct / Sextile / Trine Ascendant
You’ll be hard to miss with the transitioning sun positively aspecting your natal ascendant. The people you encounter during this time will find you especially attractive and will feel energized by your presence. Job interviews and first impressions are favorable under this transit.
︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵
❧ Moon Conjunct / Sextile / Trine Mars
Getting in touch with your sexual desires is common with these transits. Lots of passionate feelings arise. Insecurities are unlikely to hold you back, you’ll feel sexy and attractive. Being direct about your feelings will result in positive encounters.
︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵
❧ Venus Conjunct / Sextile / Trine Sun
It doesn’t take much for you to feel good when these transits are occurring. You’ll feel beautiful and will receive more attention due to this. Go out and have fun. Spend money. Be affectionate with your friends and loved ones.
︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵
❧ Venus Conjunct / Sextile / Trine Moon
A sense of security is generated through these transits. You’ll feel charismatic and easy-going. Emotional harmony is reached and affectionate feelings will be increased. Whatever has been causing you stress will dissipate for the time being and your physical appearance will reflect this. Sexual attractiveness is heightened and you’ll find it easy to connect with the more sensual aspects of life. This is an especially favorable time for haircuts.
︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵
❧ Venus Conjunct / Sextile / Trine Venus
You’ll be feeling downright gorgeous and will feel a great need to invest in your appearance. The clothing you buy during this time will be in alignment with your style. You might find yourself experiencing a streak of good luck. It seems as though everything comes easy to you when these transits are occurring. People will be especially kind and affectionate towards you, you’ll have many positive social interactions. Focus on the aspects of life that bring you peace during this time so you can use them again when life becomes more chaotic.
︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵
❧ Venus Conjunct / Sextile / Trine Ascendant
The only downside that occurs with these transits is having to deal with a sense of laziness. You’ll want to forget all about your responsibilities. Luckily, you’ll be very well received and can get away with more than you normally would under ordinary circumstances. You’ll find yourself stuck, staring into the mirror because you look THAT good. You might catch yourself constantly making adjustments to your appearance. Warmth and affection will follow you throughout daily life. This would be a good time to take a vacation.

tuesday again 10/10/2023
by dry volume, this post is 80% talking about gallery walls. tl;dr : do not buy or hang up things you do not like in a vague attempt to make your house look more grownup ONLY put up things you love, mat your art to give it visual room to breathe.
listening
had a playlist of the james bond theme songs on while i was deep cleaning my kitchen and the line "YOU GOT TO GIVE THE OTHER FELLA HELL!!! " from SPECIFICALLY the guns 'n roses cover of live and let die (even though the playlist had the correct mccartney version) has been THOROUGHLY stuck in my brain for forty eight hours.
youtube
-
reading
academic transphobia to follow:
an anti-reading section, for once. Retraction Watch (site that tracks academic paper retractions and major academic beef like when someone is stripped of tenure for fraud, formerly my beloved) published an op-ed by an anthropologist TERF who is Big Mad she got called out by her professional association for trying to submit a conference talk that amounted to hate speech against her trans colleagues in the name of the stupid fucking largely disproven sexing skeletons thing. the comments have devolved into the professor sock puppeting anyone who goes "hey RW why did you platform this?"
would be very interested to hear from RW about how a retracted conference talk has the same impact on the scientific community as a retracted paper, but we'll fucking see. i think RW provides an important service to the scientific community (they are the most indepth and thorough tracker of retractions, more so than the actual publishers) but this is a fucking weird move
-
watching
rewatched Who Framed Roger Rabbit? (1988, dir. Zemeckis) for fic research. GOD this movie is fucking good. it performs a minor animation miracle every thirty seconds.
Tumblr media
-
playing
nothing to report
-
making
by popular demand (four people), some thoughts about gallery walls. some discourse on the method, if you will. i went with a gallery wall bc i like the look and i had an extremely large blank wall to fill bc this apartment is slightly too big for me. the string lights remind me very much of my dorm rooms but cool lamps have been few and far between down here.
Tumblr media
how to get art (and why/caveats)
i honestly don't have a ton of direct collecting advice here other than "have you tried going to a lot of thrift stores". i cheat bc both my parents were architects who collected art, everyone in my family dabbles in fine art, and my sister has her bachelors in art history. so i am awash in paper, constantly. i grew up with a set of flatfiles and a closet full of spare frames. i recognize most people do not grow up like this.
with that caveat out of the way, how do i actually get my art? usually one piece at a time over a very long period of time. there's a postcard on my gallery wall i got in 2009. this is a game you will be playing for the rest of your life as you discover things you like and your tastes evolve.
it is VITAL that you love every piece on your walls. no filler ikea canvases unless you actually like them. the instant you start thinking "oh i need a landscape to look Grownup" you have to strangle that thought in the cradle. there are no rules, especially in art. put whatever the fuck you want up on your walls with no regard for the public's taste.
i feel like "i should buy and put up more art" is something that often falls into a vague Grownup Improvement Goal (like budgeting) bc it is an Grownup Improvement Goal and not bc they actually want to buy and put up more art. fortunately for everyone, you do not have to buy or put up Morally or Socially Improving art that will impress some vague category of grownups, bc we don't fucking live in victorian times.
most importantly you do not need to spend much (or in some cases any) money to put things on your walls. getting the effect you want (fancy washi tape, matching frames) may take some money, but using the printer at work and stealing some scotch tape is free.
how to get art (actual advice this time)
i feel a little silly typing this all out but i really like reading other chewsdayposters' processes, and it is really helpful for me a lot of the time to have someone say: actually there is this complete other way of doing something you have never considered bc u did not grow up with it
i ask you: do you have a stack of sentimental papers somewhere in your home? congrats you have some frameable items. a thing does not need to be Fine Art to be in a frame to go on the wall and make you happy. tape up a birthday card. put a quilt up on your wall. pushpin a label from a jar of pickled herring bc it reminds you of your grandma. frame a beloved tshirt. this is a martha stewart ass statement but things that are not traditional paper art on your walls will add variety and whimsy to your home.
other places for art that are not thrift/estate/yard sales:
i do believe that making your own art, including a $3 paint-by-numbers kit, will fix something in your brain. it's very similar to how i personally have to go stand with my feet in a body of water twice a year or THE SLUDGE smothers my brain
your favorite weird indie bands are almost certainly selling posters on bandcamp even if they're not currently on tour
i like the artists' co-op justseeds for art that deals with "social, environmental, and political engagement" like my beloved "fuck space tourism" poster
start a "good lines" or equivalent "art i like" tag on here and buy prints when u have the money. even if artists here don't have a shop open or don't have the specific piece u want as a print, ask if u can throw them an appropriate amount of money on venmo or something and get it printed locally or online. ive had good luck with vistaprint and they have rolling sales
do you like a piece of art in the public domain, like something from a museum? print it out. put it in a frame. no it's not as nice as a professional print but it's free if you do it at work and now it's on your wall
fuck around on wikimedia commons and the internet archive. i particularly love pulp magazine covers and little illustrative insets for out of date astronomy books
non- and semi-consumable supplies
if u put $25 into supplies u can use for many many other projects (i assume you probably have some of the following list), you can make any frame nice and save approximately a gajillion dollars.
good utility knife and extra blades
hammer
tape measure
level (comes with most command hook packs, you can also use your phone)
stepstool, sturdy chair, or patient tall person
assorted nails (you can buy a little tackle box with assorted nails from most big box stores)
little squeezy tube of DryDex spackle ($5) and putty knife or honestly old credit card to fill in nail holes when you move out
OR command strips and hooks
matboard that is white on one side and black on the other (~$8 at big box craft stores). you can use this to cut your own mats and/or replace a kind of weird back on an otherwise good frame
most printer paper these days is acid free. steal some from your workplace.
assorted small brushes
little thing of acrylic paint in whatever color you want your frames to be (~$1.50 ea). you can also spray paint your frames for a different finish but i don't have the space or patience in this apartment
sandpaper or sacrificial emery board
i would further recommend a little set of letter size desktop drawers/mini flatfiles like this to keep all the small stuff you want to frame in one place. i have sentimental art i don't want to frame in one drawer and things i do want to frame in the other. this has been very good for my brain bc it's all safely and flatly contained out of sight, and it's easy to flick through a stack of things i already love when i need one more small thing or one warmer thing to fill a gap
Tumblr media
frames
the good news for us is that frames and art are a fucking bitch to move and people frequently give them away. your local discount and thrift stores are going to be fucking awash in small frames 8.5"x11" and under for under $3 each. when you are thrifting or estate saling or yard saling or generally gallivanting about on a weekend, pay little attention to any art actually in a frame. is the frame in okay shape? can you repaint it without too much trouble? will it clean up all right? does it have the glass? can you insert the glass from a different frame into the one you actually want without any thrift store employees noticing?
for weird sizes above 8.5x11 and outside poster size that cannot be easily found at thrift stores, the big box craft stores here in america have roughly quarterly frame sales and frequent coupons. do NOT get your shit professionally framed at michaels bc they upcharge by about 3x compared to other local framers (both on the east coast and here in tx).
i went through two periods of seriously buying frames (last year of high school and the year i moved into the original lair, when/where i thought i was going to stay for a few years) and ive swapped in out and between those dozen or so total. once you have built up a little stock of frames that fit the general sizes of art you tend to collect, ur pretty good for a while. the only new "frame" i bought for my gallery wall was a little floating shelf.
mats
the absolute biggest fucking thing u can do to make your art look nicer is mat that bitch, which gives it room to breathe. if your art does not have a built in border or a lot of white space (see 9, 12, and 13 in the gallery wall below, as well as 8 which has a ton of negative space with the car door), you need a frame bigger than your art. you can google the suggested proportions yourself or decide with your heart.
i am a big fan of a very slapdash floating mat, which means cutting a piece of printer paper to size or flipping around the paper that tells you what size the frame is and slapping your art right on top of that, sometimes with a lick of gluestick to keep it in place. generally a floating mat means a sort of 3D matting technique but we don't have time for that. do not do this printer paper technique long-term with a particularly beloved or expensive piece of art.
u can also buy pre-cut mats at Michaels or Joann’s for not too too many dollars, or cut your own with the acid-free matboard ($10 for a poster board sized piece) and a new utility knife blade and a steady hand. or, if you're lucky, it comes with the frame.
gallery wall specific advice
there aren't any rules. actual galleries and museums tend to put the center of a piece or group of pieces at 57" from the floor. you may want to fuck around with that depending on your own height, the space you have, and the pieces you own.
a gallery wall does not need to be 24 pieces like this one. it can be any number.
this is the first one i have done mostly by myself and it is the most color-restricted one i have ever put up. it is also the one with the most successful repeating motif (circles). usually i grab the art i want most to go together and send pics to my art historian sister who will then arrange it for me and say shit like “do you have another small blue thing for the top left” or “do you have two pieces that are warmer and larger” or "different frame for the middle left"
look at a lot of other gallery walls. personally i like the ones that have non-framed and non-square things in them. ideally mine would have photographs and taxidermy in it for maximum weirdness. but u cannot go wrong with a grid, or all horizontal pieces, or all vertical pieces. for a full wall puzzle piece like this, u do not generally want an american southwest four corners meeting situation. stagger it. lay everything out on the floor and move it around eighteen times (this is the worst part). the gallery wall as a whole does not have to be perfectly aligned to the ceiling or the back of your couch or what have you. it can be sort of an organic blob shape along the top and bottom edges.
my wall
this soothing blue and green wall with wood tone pops has pieces from almost half my life. it skews later in college/recent acquisitions, as i sharpened my taste for limited-number prints and had a car to go to thrift stores with, but that’s just how this specific wall came together
Tumblr media
the list below should tell you what each piece is, how much i paid for it (and the cost of the frame if applicable), and when i got it. this wall has most of the Nice Art in my collection that is signed/numbered/in some way slightly fancier bc it is the wall i stare at when on my couch.
embroidered Scorpio constellation hoop, birthday gift from my sister (free, came with hoop, i used some makerspace felt and batting to properly back and finish it much later so free with my tuition), nov 2016
numbered and signed print of an italianate cityscape, $5 and came with the frame and mat from an estate sale, i put a new back on it with scrap matboard so the back of the print wasn't just naked, fall 2021
signed print of a new england landscape, came with the frame and the mat but is stained right over the signature :( $2.50 from salvation army, one of the last things i bought in spring 2023 before i moved
signed original multimedia on board collage by my sister from her like second ever gallery show, $69 in winter 2022 for the art, the frame was from a free pile i gave a new acid free back with scrap matboard. that was such a good free pile i got a huge pile of frames from that
magazine page (idk which one either) i saved in high school (i graduated in 2013) or very early college, frame was from a free pile by the side of the road in summer 2021 and repainted with some white acrylic paint. it is float matted with printer paper. maybe a dollar for the paint? i definitely did not buy the magazine
this is an out of print poster by one of my favorite living artists (Josh McPhee) so i emailed him and asked if i could get it printed myself if i threw him $25 and he said yes. i think it cost $22 to get it printed professionally, the frame is basics by studio decor ($20 for a 2-pack) (i spent so much money and time on this one bc i wanted a very specific look for a very specific space in my kitchen in the old apartment), feb 22
signed numbered woodcut by Roger Peet ($20 in august 2020), another studiobasics frame that was i think $8 in summer 2022. float matted with acid free matboard and not printer paper.
gigantic fuckoff unsigned unlabeled poster i bought bc she reminds me of the Barnes & Noble murals, $10 at goodwill (came with the frame, half off) sep 2023
star chart from the US Naval Observatory that was on a free shelf at Amherst College when i was taking a class there in fall 2018, another studiobasics frame (idk when i bought this one) so under $10. float mount on acid free printer paper.
plaster frog mirror from an estate sale in spring 2021, i do not remember how much i paid for it but it was not more than $5
Tumblr media
oh goddamnit this is a new block so of course it restarted the numbering. fatal off by a power of ten error, very typical for astronomy. poster from a show i went to in college spring 2015, do not remember when i bought this sub-$10 studiobasics frame either, float mount on acid free printer paper.
signed poster from my roommate-at-the-time’s cousin’s band in fall 2014 (i can’t actually find the receipt but i did find an email from her cousin letting me know he shipped me and my roommate’s orders together lol) let’s say $20, another sub-$10 studiobasics frame of mysterious provenance.
moon map out of an old science book in high school, let’s be generous and say $10 for both the book and the frame (another studiobasics)
numbered but unsigned new year’s print from a local-ish print shop in massachusetts, $12 at savers with the frame, fall 2022
cover of a very fragile vintage paperback copy of raymond c/handler’s The Long G/oodbye i acquired in high school (could not have been more than a dollar or two), with a frame and mat that came in an ikea multipack my dad bought me in high school bc i had a set of l/ackadaisy miniposters i wanted to hang, looks like the closest modern equivalent is the EDSBRUCK, a single will run you about $12 today
postcard inherited from my grandpa’s collection of loose paraphernalia in 2010 (free but at what cost etc), frame is a studiobasics that come in a pack of 6 for $20 (less if you have a coupon) so let’s round down a smidge and say $3. don’t remember when i bought this frame either, it is matted with real matboard bc the postcard and the back of the frame are so thin
“my heart is a fish” cross stitch (a reference to the imperial radch trilogy of books) i made this and did not date it but i know i blogged about it on here at some point between 2014-2018, i remember having to buy five colors of thread but owned the hoop already, again back and finished it properly much later with maskerspace batting and felt, let’s say $5 not counting my time
postcard from @believerindaydreams last winter in another studiobasics frame and float mounted with acid free matboard.
tiny moon mirror from salvation army in early spring 2015, under $5
CD mirror from Vapor95 ($125? preorder in fall 2021), came with velcro command strips which was very nice of them
a $300 original multimedia collage (the first one my sister ever made, when she was in middle school) i bought in spring 2021 from her first show, sitting on a $5 acrylic shelf from five below i bought last month
22-24 are national geographic maps, 50c each at an estate sale last month, had to buy $7 worth of binder clips and pushpins to put them up bc i don’t fucking know what box they’re in and didn’t have time to rip the whole closet of boxes im ignoring apart
a slightly longer tl;dr: do not buy or hang up things you do not like in a vague attempt to make your house look more grownup ONLY put up things you love, thrift and repaint your frames if possible but you can get very cheap studiobasics ones if you want them all to match, acid-free mat your art for preservation and to give it room to breathe, keep a little drawer or box of stuff you love and might want to frame

I've been Framed
I don't know why this is a thing that art buyers do, but it's happened to me quite a few times and it the most delightful thing . .
" [Husband] wanted you to see the frame he made for the painting and wants to get your opinion on the color.  He loves the painting."
Tumblr media
He MADE the frame! Isn't that a perfect match?! Others have sent me pix so I could see where it was hanging in their house:
"I put your painting right by my desk" "It looks so good in my entryway" "I made a collection of themed paintings and yours fits right in" etc and so-forth.
Let me tell you. Buying a painting from an artist makes them happy. Sending them photos from your house to brag about how good it looks - *Chef's Kiss*! I am weeping. I am showing the photo to my friends.

Haunted Holidays
December 21: Wrapping Paper <-AO3 link!
“I think that’s everything,” Carrie said as she looked over the sea of bags and boxes surrounding her.
“It had better be, I think we bought out half of LA,” Reggie groaned from where he had flung himself onto the couch.
“You know some of that is for you right?” Carrie replied.
“I’m aware,” Reggie said, looking up from the arms he had covering his face. “Which is why you should hide them while I’m too tired to peek.”
Carrie hummed but did grab a few bags and rushed off, making Reggie bite back a grin. Honestly he loved that she used the holiday season to spoil their loved ones. Stuff none of them would buy themselves, but they all secretly wanted. Carrie was aces at gifts, and Reggie was getting better since they started dating.
“Okay Peters,” Carrie declared as she reentered the den with a clap of her hands. “No napping, we have to get wrapping!”
Reggie groaned, sitting up and looking at her. “Okay, gimme a beat.”
Carrie scowled and waved a tube of wrapping paper at him. “Come on you.”
Reggie gave a mock salute and started taking items out of bags, handing them over to Carrie so she could find the right gift bag or bow to go with each gift. “I always figured you’d get a professional to do this kind of thing.”
She shook her head. “That’s more my dad’s thing. I like wrapping gifts, giving it that personal touch. Shows that you’re willing to spend the time on it outside the thought of the gift itself.”
“When I was a kid I wrapped all my gifts in the comics section of the newspaper-saved up the colour pages every Sunday to do it,” Reggie commented.
“MeeMaw didn’t have paper for you to use?” Carrie asked. She knew better to ask about his parents-they only gave him shame, complexes, and recrimination, never presents.
“I wanted to do it myself,” Reggie said with a shrug. “She loved my version of a personal touch.”
“I bet you made her great gifts,” Carrie said. She had never met MeeMaw, the woman had unfortunately passed before she got the chance. But she loved hearing Reggie’s stories about her.
“Oh yeah, the best pages of scribbles, popsicle stick picture frames, and clay handprints you ever did see,” Reggie said, then a look of melancholy passed over his face. “She kept it all though, had a box of it all stored in the attic.”
Carrie scooted over , cuddling into his side. “She loved you, and treasured everything you gave her. I know I would.”
Reggie snorted. “Doll you gave me an itemized list of gifts.”
She had done that hadn’t she? And she knew he had bought her every one without complaint. “I know,” she whispered. “I think I needed a reminder that it isn’t what you get, but the love and thought behind it.”
“So I can return the ludicrously pricey scarf?” Reggie jested.
“Not on your life,” Carrie said, sticking her tongue out at him. “But feel free to wrap it in some newspaper if you keep the packaging on it.”
Reggie grinned, tilting her head back for a kiss. “You know, I just might do that.”
Then on Christmas morning, Carrie had to laugh when every single one of her expensive presents were wrapped in homemade paper-covered in Reggie’s doodles and lyrics.
She kept every piece. Which turned out to be worth it, as the next year she used the paper he had made to wrap his gifts in. RReggie gave a delighted bark when he noticed, and made a show out of oh so carefully peeling the tape off so they could use it again.
By the third year, it was getting a bit worn, so Carrie said they would just have to make new paper, and spent a lovely afternoon doing so. “But we’re still keeping the old stuff right?” Reggie asked shyly.
“Oh sinta of course!” Carrie assured him. “We could make a cool art piece out of them if you want.”
She missed the way his face lit up at that, but Reggie thought that was for the best because he now had a plan to blow all other Christmas’ out of the water!
Oh Christmas morning, Carrie came down the stairs, and saw something hanging on the wall, covered by a sheet. Reggie was standing next to it, looking a little nervous, a little tired, but still his gorgeous sunshiney self. “Hey doll, Merry Christmas,” he said, greeting her with a kiss when she replied in kind.
“You figure out what to do with the paper after?” Carrie asked, taking a step back to survey the large set up.
“Yup, you wanna do the honours?’ Reggie asked.
Carrie nodded and ripped off the sheet, then gasped. There they were --all the pieces of wrapping paper. Covered in their doodles, notes, and little bits of their history. A photo of the two of them after a paintball game where she had dominated and Reggie was just happy to be there. Riding side by side on horseback, though Reggie was doing so with considerable more grace.
There were programs and ticket stubs, and a few candy wrappers, lyrics to half finished songs, even a section for Tisdale, Carrie’s Shar Pei that Reggie used to walk every day-it was how they met after all. And though she had crossed the rainbow bridge, the both of them would forever be grateful for her influence in them getting together.
Then right in the middle, was an origami heart, with the words Open Me printed on it. Carrie grinned at Reggie, wondering what silly pun awaited her-he did love his jokes her man.
Only when she opened the heart, there were only two words printed there. WOrds that made Carrie’s heart race and her face break into a smile. A smile that grew even wider when she saw Reggie kneeling before her with a ring made of folder paper.
“I swear I got you a real one,” he said, offering it up. “But I kinda had to doll.”
“No no, this is perfect,” Carrie said, slipping the ring onto her finger. “Yes by the way.”
Reggie whooped and spun them around, all while Carrie admired her ring. She knew it would probably end up framed somewhere so she could keep it forever-but right now it outmatched even the brightest of diamonds, and was worth more to her than every gift under the tree.

Your sweet selfishness
AO3 / Commissions / Links /
Warnings: hurt/comfort, feeling of worthlessness, none (?)
Summary: Crowley thinks he doesn't earned to be happy And his Angel deserves someone else, someone better. However, Aziraphale reassures him, it's not the case.
This story is for @giosnape <3
Tumblr media
Line art is mine:)
All of you, please know that you are enough and loved!<3
The Moon was hanging on the sky,
With her beautiful light,
She was showering her beloved stars,
No clouds were chasing on the dark canvas,
The shining orbits were decorating with enchant,
It was a peaceful, quiet night,
The one you long for with delight.
The air was filled with the cosy smell,
That autumn brings with itself.
There were a few lovely pairs,
Enjoying the cool evening air,
They were enjoying their silly talks,
So didn't notice a puffy man,
Running errands in his outlet.
He was in the bookshop of his,
In Soho on Berwick Street.
The windows were beaming bright,
Even tho the shop was closed.
Aziraphale was the owner of this shop,
Which gave home to many rare books.
The angel was now cleaning up,
And making tea for his beloved one.
Oh my dear boy!
Crowley has been weird lately,
He looks at me sweet but sad,
And when he thinks I’m not looking,
He looks so depressed.
Something has been eating up his soul,
But when I ask, he says no.
He has been spoiling me with his pretty yellow eyes,
And buying everything I like,
There is a longing and something tense,
In his shoulders when I hold his hand.
I see, how he wants to be saccharine,
But when he tries,
It looks like,
Invisible ropes hold him tight.
I can't bear to see him in this misery,
I need to do something to resolve this!
– These were the worried thoughts of Azi,
While finishing their cups of tea.
He closed and finished everything,
Switched off the lights,
And turned towards their bedchambers.
He lightly hopped on the stairs,
Seeing there is no gleam upstairs.
The Demon with the ruby head,
Was lying in their bed,
Him and his Angel has been a couple,
For at least a year now,
It’s been 6000 years,
Since he allowed his snake-like gaze,
To settle on the other’s glow,
His home-y, and tender presence,
Seemed to welcome Crowley’s existence,
He is the entire universe in my eyes,
While me a mere star,
He is all the light and warmth,
I thought could never feel again,
…. Or rather don’t have the right,
To feel such a loving sign.
What am I? A failure.
Someone, who can’t do their job accurate
Doesn’t matter, if I’m in Up or in Hell,
I’ll always shatter.
– From his inner disarray,
He stared outside the window frame,
He saw all the stars,
He once painted bright.
They were sparkling in the night,
Singing there lullabies,
— I don’t understand what he sees,
I’m not the Angel who once been,
Now looking at my design,
I realise,
How broken am I.
He deserves so much more, better
Not this shattered shell.
… I’m unforgivable,
A creature of the dark,
A fallen one.
— He kept staring at the night,
Lying in the dark,
He has been in Heaven,
Since him and Angel been together,
He could forget all the pain and fright,
And let himself being giddy for a while.
With the simple word “Love”,
It’s impossible to describe his devotion to his God.
If he was a little ant,
Then Aziraphale the mountain ahead.
Yet,
He felt he has to give in,
The only glee in his being.
He is too good, too nice,
To be with someone so immoral.
He deserves all the fondness in the world,
But not from me I’m sure.
I worth noting,
And—
In this moment,
He heard steps coming up the stairs,
And turning on his side,
He saw Him in his eternal light.
As the Angel reached the door,
He listened a little more,
All was silent and depressed,
He felt Love but it was sad.
I don’t understand,
Every time he is here,
He is in Love and glow,
Why did this change then?
He stepped into the dark room,
But all he could see was a human shaped form on the bed.
“But My! This room is a maze of murkiness,
Tut tut.. Let’s open the window to the fresh peaceful night,
Because it seems like you need a little delight.”
“I’m fine Angel!
Really am,
Just needed a little rest.”
“I put down the hot cup of tea, I made a few seconds before for thee,
Thy mood will be better after you drank the warm comfort and lighting a lamp is the key”
– Since Crowley didn't move,
Azi lifted his hand to turn on the lamp,
Which was sitting on the bedside table next to them.
He moved slowly to the bed,
And climbed next to the Serpent.
“Now dear Crowley,
Please tell me,
What’s bothering you?
And don’t tell me nothing!
I can see and feel something.”
“Angel it's.. It's noth-- I mean–”
“Was it me who did something?
If I did, let me do the dancing–”
“You?! No!!
You are perfect as you are,
The most precious being alive,
So beautiful and kind,
No!
It is I”
“You?
You did nothing wrong dear,
Recently in fact,
You’ve been the sweetest boyfriend I’ve ever had!
(And you are the first and only one, my dearest)”
“Don’t you understand?”
– Crowley started sobbing at this point,
Hiding his face with an army of pillows,
“I am the Fallen Angel,
The Serpent of Eden,
Who is a failure in every task!
I can’t pull you down into this shame,
You deserve someone,
Who is full and frame. “
— With that, the demon with the burning hair,
Was pulled into a warm embrace,
A gentle voice filled the room,
And love seemed to bloom.
“Don’t say such things my beloved,
You are the Sun,
On a cold winter day,
My burning flame.
You are treasured in my eyes,
The shiniest Ruby in the dark,
You sacrificed so much for me,
Now it's your time to be selfish.”
– Said Aziraphale with a smoothing tone,
And if it's possible, hold him more close.
Time seemed to slow and stop,
The tensed silence changed into a sheltered one,
Their heartbeats danced along,
In an Austen-Ball like fashion.
The Snake-Eyed man continued to weep,
His chest was so full of the feeling de-stress,
It was impossible to be contained.
The tears fall like the ocean on Noe’s back,
Making the Angel’s coat wet,
With every tear he felt relieved,
And clinged harder to the Holy Being.
They stayed there, which seemed like an eternity,
But it couldn't be more than an hour in reality.
“Maye you are right,
Sometimes it's nice to be selfish,
….. But I’m still not nice”
– Crowley’s voice sinked into sleepiness,
And moved closer to his dearest,
The two cups long forgotten,
Stood on the bedside stool,
Covering the pair with their aromas.
The Moon and her Stars were smiling on the sky,
Shielding the couple with their light.
They fell asleep in each other’s arm,
With no concern in their hearts,
The Angel,
Who once Fell from the sky,
Felt happy and safe for the first time,
In 6000 years since the Beginning of Time.
In his dream he smiled,
While the nightly orbis continued their lullabies.
Thank you for reading!<;3

Since ur requests r still open here's a lil smth : imagine the riddlers(YJ, BTAS, whoever) working, right? Watching them work on whatever project they have at the moment - and painting them. Quietly, while watching them work. And then giving it to them when they're done. I think that'd be cute as hell :D
Artful Endeavour
Edward Nygma X Artist Reader
At hours of working on your own projects, both of you had headphones on as to not disrupt one another-- with Eddie in his recent mayhems for Gotham while you were simply lounging around, art supplies in hand. Eddie didn't like it when you dub his brilliant as simply mayhem, but he does see why, but still. It's called 'plans' not mayhem. If you weren't cute, you wouldn't have gotten away with it.
Noticing how the shade of green of his clothes matched with your paint, you absent-mindedly sketch him for a moment... Until then you find yourself concentrating to draw him. You've finished your painting of him whilst he still wasn't done with his work, he seemed to have been frustrated with that glare on his face. Wanting to cheer him up for a moment, you stood from your seat and presented it to him.
💚 Young Justice
Due to the headphones, he didn't hear you calling his name. Lowering your headphones to your neck, you approached Edward with a kiss on the cheek, making him slightly jump. The tense frustration in his countenance dissipating exponentially from your sweet attention when he realises it was you. By this he finally takes his headphones off and eagerly attempts to return the kiss you gave him, when you handed him a watercolour painting of him.
"Whoa..." A smile break from his features, further pushing the tense emotion he has been feeling earlier at the least of his worries.
He is beyond flattered that you'd go out of your time and effort to paint him like this and depict him in a way he will never thought he will ever be, a certain beauty translated in paper and ethereal colours. By this he only have one word for it that's best suited to describe your work, no matter how fucking cliché it is;
"It's beautiful... Thank you."
💚 Batman Unburied
💚 Batman the animated series
When you tried to call for his attention, he heard you through the cluster of instrumentals and vocals in his headphones and immediately lifts an earpiece.
"Yes, my dear?" Though he was frustrated with himself, he cannot bring himself to use you as an outlet of his rage, though you can certainly pick up the edge of his tone. He may be a criminal, but this is a crime he will not forgive himself if he ever committed it.
"I made you something." Snatching the piece from your desk, you merrily walked over to present it to him.
Traces of tension from his face fades as his eyes soften at the sight of him drawn in watercolour. His lips pull up, along with his besotted gaze aligning with your cheerful ones.
"Soooo, how is it?"
God he fucking loves you. "Priceless."
Tapping on the top of his headphones, Edward pulls it down, hang it around his neck before glancing at you with a raised brow. Without a word, you handed his the piece of paper you have been working on with intricate watercolour painting of him. You can see amusement brimming his eyes as he analyses the piece then glances at you.
"What, do you want me to put it on my fridge or something?" He chuckles. Don't let his nonchalance fool you, he is melting inside.
"Oh I don't know, whatever you want with it I guess." You handed him the paper with a shrug.
"To the fridge it is." He jests, before tucking it between the pages of his priced journal, noting to himself to buy a frame to hang it on his bedroom wall later.

Hi! I love your art 💖 I was wondering what is your opinion about yesterday’s episode. Did you like it? :)
Awww hi! Thank you 💜💜
I loved it!!
I really don't get all the complains I'm seeing here and on Twitter.
Mappa did an astounding job portraying Hange's last moments, staying true to the manga and at the same time making it better and more cinematographic.
The frames are the same as the manga, it appears quicker because animation is always like that, you can't stay on it as long as you want like with a manga panel.
Plus the pace was already quick, they're running out of time, Hange has to buy them some last precious moments to fix the plane and flee. They can't dwell on the single frames too much. It's all part of the narrative.
"Dedicate your heart" is a Levihan scene ofc but it's first and foremost an Hange scene. It's their moment to shine, the big hero departure, the ultimate sacrifice to let the others leave and live.
That's also why I appreciated Mappa making their fight longer, we get to see Hange at their best, first humour (even in their last moments), then determination, then awe at the beauty of Titans and science, then badass fighting like we've never seen before culminating in the afterlife welcome from the other Vets.
I don't think they could have done it better.
As for Levihan itself, I saw complains about Levi not showing emotions or the "dedicate your heart" scene not being the love scene it should be.
Now, we can compare it with the Aruani moment. That has been changed, the wrist grab has become hand grab, they blush and they're embarrassed, they're teenagers.
Levihan are adults, Veterans trained for a long time to hide their emotions and feelings leaving space for duty and freedom.
You don't need a kiss or a hug to show they're in love (but I'll do it and add it anyway in my drawings 😂)
As much as I would have died to see it myself, we all know it wasn't going to happen. They don't have room for big manifestations of love. AOT is not like that.
And honestly, at least to me, Levihan is in the little things, little everyday gestures and moments that build and strengthen their relationship, the fact that Levi never said those words to anyone else, adding the use of the left hand (the hand of the heart not the hand of duty), speaks volumes about how he feels in my opinion.
Hange's surprise and smile are equally meaningful.
Same goes for Levi's tears. He doesn't need to cry to show his emotions. He's constipated and we know it, but you can see his pain in his posture, in how he's cradling his hands on his lap, in his lack of expressiveness, in the empty stare, in the determination he has to fight once more and not make Hange's sacrifice in vain.
It's not by chance that everyone is screaming and crying when Hange dies, huge tears rolling down their cheeks, faces disfigured while Levi's the only one who stays quiet and silent, almost spacing out. And I think this is very in character (no matter how much I make him cry in my stuff 😂).
It's not easy to adapt from comic to animation and I think Mappa really did their best keeping the line of the manga while improving it and making it better at the same time.
That being said I only have one last thing to say, LEVIHAN CANON 😌
Thank you for the ask and sorry for the pep talk 😂

HAPPY FALLLLLLL!!!!!
It’s September 22 and my season has arrived!!!
Tumblr media
Mmmmm-hmmm, I feel it in my bones!   I’ve gone down the frugal decorating hole while pulling together my craft room, and I have lots to share, but first let’s talk about fall.  It’s HERE!  I pulled into the driveway a couple of days ago and when I stepped out of the car THIS beauty was on the ground.
Tumblr media
Is that perfection or what?  Oh, my soul gave a huge sigh of relief and I thought, “It’s happening.”  I mean, it happens every year.  We know it’s coming.  But as we slog through August it feels so far away...then those first few brilliant leaves show up and hope soars.  Too dramatic? Is it just me?  I don’t care. Give me fat pumpkins and beautiful leaves! I woke up this morning and my very first thought was, “It’s autumn!”  The calendar says so.  I had no idea what the forecast for the day was, might be 60, might be 90 - but it’s officially fall.  Then, as if that’s not enough reason to rejoice, I received an early birthday gift. It rained!  The sky grew dark, the wind picked up, and the clouds emptied their bellies.  It was glorious.  I’m sure there’s a word for people who love rain...hang on, I’ll look it up.
Tumblr media
There ya’ go.  Bet there’s a club.  Maybe I can start a local chapter for those who “find joy and peace of mind during rainy days”.  Members will only have one rule, leave me alone on rainy days.  The rest of the time we’ll just sit around together wishing for rain. Anyway, I was so  excited about the downpour that I decided it was the perfect time to go buy some mums and pumpkins. Denton is so pretty in the rain.  I sat at a stop sign during the 4 minute drive to the store (everything is 4 minutes away in this town) and admired this house.  Rocking chairs on the porch, flags flapping in autumn’s first rain, but in dire need of pumpkins.
Tumblr media
That porch is begging for some cornstalks, mums, and pumpkins.  I should become a gourd bandit and go around town after dark leaving pumpkins on front steps.  In America that’s a great way to get shot, so I won’t. From that stop sign I zipped (at 25 mph) up the street and picked out two big pots of burgundy mums and a couple of chubby pumpkins, either one would make a fine carriage for Cinderella. They’re on our porch right now, celebrating September 22nd - the gateway to all that is beautiful and fun.  It’s dark as I type this, so I’ll snap photos tomorrow.  Time to start dressing the porch for the season.  I love summer gardens, but fall colors fill my soul. In other news, my craft room is nearly finished.  I have been a painting, transfer rubbing, decorating, tugging, lugging. moving, organizing fool.  I don’t want to share photos until the last piece is in place.  That last piece is a rug I ordered and I’m going to be bummed if the color is not what I’m hoping.  Shopping online is sometimes a roll of the dice.  BUT...I’ll share some of what I’ve been up to. The desk was painted, then I used Iron Orchid transfers for floral accents.  I put together a gallery wall behind the desk, using frames I already had or found at Goodwill.  Various shades of gold paint gave them some interest. I filled those frames with prints I’ve picked up on our travels, or that I printed at Walgreens.  I did the whole wall for less than $20.  That’s why, although it’s not perfect, I love it.  Here’s a glimpse when the room was still topsy-turvey.
Tumblr media
Stuff on the desk, stuff on the floor - but in progress!   Also, a note about the desk.  My plan is to put a quote on the front panel - some meaningful script about art or imagination, done in gold.  I haven’t settled on anything yet but this keeps coming to mind.
Tumblr media
It’s really more appropriate for what I’ll be feeling when I use the room. Also, that left front panel may need a do-over. The whole desk is heavy wood, and is meant to be pushed up against a wall, so that one panel on the left is a really cheap, almost cardboard sort of something.  Because of that the transfer looks a little too much like a sticker.  On other parts of the desk it looks painted on and just blends so beautifully. It’s not budging, but we could replace that with a thin piece of wood and I could paint it and slap some flowers on.  Or I could leave it just like that because we’re apparently not on the Christmas home tour this year.  Go figure. Anywayyyyy, back to the pictures.  I picked up this little watercolor in a gallery in Bar Harbor, Maine.
Tumblr media
This one is from Sisters, Oregon and made me think of my Grandma Ethel.  I painted a sturdy piece of cardboard with the same paint I used on the desk and stuck it on there.
Tumblr media
This  Beatrix Potter print was purchased on Portobello Road in London.
Tumblr media
And so on..  I still have some that I haven’t used but I can add to that gallery over time.  This time I filled in spaces with things I printed at Walgreens for pennies.
Tumblr media
This one might be my favorite.
Tumblr media
Pardon the lights reflecting on the glass, but that little mouse, who climbed that ladder to stuff his face with Moon cheese, is just the sort whimsy that I like to surround myself with.  With which I like to surround myself. Isn’t he a hoot?
Tumblr media
But the bit that is making me the happiest, the  pièce de résistance, was the result of cramming together two things I already had.  I’d picked up this old frame at a barn sale in Tennessee.  I chalk painted some slats, glued them in, and put a big ol’ P. on it.  I never found the right spot for it.  So I pulled that P off and sanded off the glue.
Tumblr media
I had loads of transfers leftover, and a sign that spoke to me at the last Country Living Fair I attended.
Tumblr media
I rubbed flowers all over those slats, glued my sign on top, and left a heavy box of books on it for a day. Now I’m in love with it!
Tumblr media
That’s on the wall to the right of my desk.  I plan to gaze at it a lot. Good focal point for daydreaming.  The mister gifted me a beautiful cabinet (it’s my birthday!) that sits in a corner across the room on the left side of the double windows.
Tumblr media
I’ve been busy organizing the interior, so the top isn’t fancied up just yet. That’s my witch ball from Salem, some of my favorite art books, and extra brushes. That basket has more books in it.
Tumblr media
I’ll foof that up later.
In the other corner is a chair that was in our living room in Mt. Juliet.  Mickey loves it (it is really comfy) and was adamant that we bring it up here for his office.  He quickly decided that he didn’t want it in his office,  and since it worked with our old furniture and wall colors but not the new - I didn’t use it in the living room.  It doesn’t really match anything in this room either, but I tossed a cream-colored throw over it and added a rosy pillow.  Good enough.  It’s a lovely spot to read on a rainy day.
Tumblr media
I’ll find a better pillow, something that ties it in with the room a little better, but I am trying to pull in more of the rose color, which is what I’m hoping the rug will do.  Rub some beads, light a candle, I’m asking the universe not to send me a hot pink rug.  So you can see what’s been keeping me busy this week.  Painting, gluing, dragging stuff around, going through three packs of command strips.  Hanging pictures is not easy when you’re a short woman.  Pretty sure that I did a solid hour of step aerobics going up and down on my step stool trying to get things right.  My pink tape measure and my pink level got a workout.
Tumblr media
I mark the height I want with painters tape so I can sort of sit the frame there and then level it.  Works for me..  For the gallery wall I just found the center of the wall for my big picture, then worked my way out using the same amount of space on each side.
Tumblr media
Is that the right way to do it? I have no idea.  But when you’re a small woman working alone with a step stool it gets the job done.  I will never be featured on HGTV, but I will finish the dang job. So all of those pieces are starting to come together and the room is looking pretty.  Once I get the finishing touches in ( is a room ever truly finished?)  I’ll do a little video or something.  Maybe just pictures - no one wants to hear me narrate a room. You just know I’d yammer on about every little print and flower. If you’ve stayed awake and finished this whole post, give yourself a cookie!  You have certainly earned it. I basically dumped all of my thoughts - Fall! Rain! Room! - in your lap and rambled like a loon.  There was a lot to be happy about today.  Did I mention the mums and pumpkins?
Tumblr media
Alright, I’m off to take a bath and read about murder while two cats stare at me.  They can’t bear to let me out of their sight so they sit in the bathroom and  watch me in the tub.  Weirdos.  I tried closing the door but the crying and apparent emotional abuse wasn’t worth it.   I hope that your first day of autumn has been a splendid one.  We’ve just boarded a train for a ride through the most scenic part of the year.  I hope it goes slowly so I can savor every moment. Sending out love and everything pumpkin spiced! Stay safe, stay well.

5 and 8 for either?
Since I answered these both for Vin, I'll answer them for Asphodel too! 5.) What was the last time they cried, and under what circumstances? (Good way to get some *emotional* backstory in.)
Asphodel is unfortunately a frustration cryer, and they hate it. They're frequently anxious and can be easily frustrated with or by circumstances going wrong despite their best plans. This drives them insane because they're the type to try to rationalize everything and make sense of everything, and it drives them insane when their mind is working through something but their body won't stop making these stupid tears while they're trying to think.
That's why last time they cried was over something minor but deeply obnoxious; they had ruined one of their old but incredibly well-loved and sentimental items (a silver-handled mirror) and in trying to fix it had wound up breaking it worse. The thing that irritated them worst about it was that the more they tried to fix it, the more they messed it up, and their increasing frantic attempts to undo the last mistake they just made wound up bringing them to tears.
They know themself well enough to know at that point, they simply have to step back, let themself cry it out and come back to it later. They're fairly private and don't like to talk about things until they've had time to think it out, so they prefer to go somewhere private and let the waterworks happen and then come back when they feel better.
(And they did! They realized that even if the glass was unsalvageable, the silver handle could still be used for something else, and they wound up using it as decor.)
8.) Describe the place where they sleep. (ie what does their safe space look like. How much (or how little) care / decoration / personal touch goes into it.)
Asphodel has the larger of the two rooms in theirs and Vin's apartment, because they had far more furniture when they moved in, and because they had previously been in a small studio apartment with nearly no space for their possessions and so Vin was happy to concede the larger room in exchange for them helping to fill the living room and kitchen, which were nearly bare when he moved in. They have a small vanity which mostly has hair products, pins, clips, styling tools, et cetera. They don't really wear much makeup, but they have a lot of hair, and in order to keep it healthy and maintained they need a lot of care to it.
The largest part of their room is bookshelves; they try to destash and donate or resell any older books that they haven't touched in a while and keep a manageable collection, but their idea of manageable is probably most people's 'excessive'. They try to have no more than two full bookshelves' worth, and try to roughly split that between fiction and nonfiction, but they tend to impulse buy things based solely on interest in the cover or title, and so they wind up with several small stacks tucked between the two shelves where things have begun to overflow.
Their bed is an old wooden bedframe that is both serviceable and also a little worn; it's sturdy, but it's seen better days and probably needs to be sanded and re-varnishes. They have an excessive amount of blankets and pillows, as they are the type to lay on the bed while they read and so they have quite a lot of bedding that's for propping up on or lounging against. They have some cute, themed decor- a cute lamp, a few framed pieces of art, a matching duvet set and rug that all fit in the same color theme.
They do not have as much laundry as Vin, but that's because a lot of their clothing is made of natural materials and simply isn't meant to be washed with the same frequency or process as Vin's is. They have a lot of real wool items especially, which they tend to hand wash and hang dry instead of running them through the washing machine. They try not to let more than a single basket of clothing build up at a time, since this takes so long, so they're fairly on top of it. They're always rolling their eyes when Vin has to do his fortnightly "i ran out of underwear" wash and has to run the washer and dryer nonstop while he's trying to purge all the laundry from his room.
ALSO i didn't realize this wasn't in the ask and wound up answering it too, so have a bonus 10 for Asphodel as well!
10.) What objects do they always carry around with them? (What do they need for their normal, day-to-day routine? What does ‘normal’ even look like for them.)
Since Asphodel makes and modifies a lot of their own clothing (they're excellent with a sewing machine), they're the type to add absurd amounts of secret pockets in their clothing. They always try to have at least enough pocket space to hold a wallet, a phone, housekeys and a small makeup bag in. (Their wallet is leather and they've had it so long that the edges have worn soft; they keep nothing but their (current)(human) ID, one bank card, and around $25 cash in at all times.) (Their phone is an iPhone 5; Vin cannot convince them to get another one. If they had their choice, they'd still be using a land line. They use it exclusively for phone calls and texts. They have one app besides that, which is a word scramble game that they play when they're stuck in line or on public transport.) (Their keys to their and Vin's apartment have a holy talisman of theirs as a keychain. It's just a little safekeeping. They scarcely need to use it. But it's reassuring to have something of a ward of protection on their keys.) (Their makeup bag contains chapstick, concealer, a brow pencil, a small compact of powder foundation, and a small travel sized perfume bottle that actually contains holy water.)

June 2023 Wrapup
June has ended, the time of Queer Pride is over, which means we resume our normally regular scheduled broadcast of Queer Wrath. Please do not adjust your set, we will continue to bang on pots and pans (both the metal object, and the people who are into lots of genders). Pride Month is the month where we party, the rest of the year is when we arm ourselves, you see.
But with that in mind, let’s check out a bunch of stuff I wrote and made this month and why you, you, you, might want to go back and read it, and see the cool things you missed!
Starting the month with our five game pile articles, threeeee of which were videos, we got:
Kings Quest I, a game commonly seen as the historical foundation of the narrative adventure game, and how its place in history is closer than you think it was.
I Was A Teenage Exocolonist, a truly amazing game designed, it seems to drill a hole in my skull and take up residence permanently.
Fallout New Vegas, and the question of why this game persists as a meme as a signifier of the trans community, specifically trans women
Girl By Moonlight, a Blades in the Dark hack that explores a genre that is mostly about women and tries to decouple it from the assumptions of Blades’ vision of Truama and how it changes you.
Playing With Tier Lists, where Fox and I talk about a bunch of characters for Pride Month that came out in 2022’s absolutely ridiculous anime seasons.
Then over in the Story Pile, we got:
Harrow the Ninth, the continued story of The Locked Tomb, and oh no I am going to be one of those people who just wants to recommend every book in this series aren’t I
Sword Art Online Alternate Gun Gale Story, a yuri series that also features a bunch of guns and a really insightful examination of the videogame structure of Sword Art Online
GGWP — Young Ladies Don’t Play Fighting Games, a manga about girls who want to do sick wavedashes as a metaphor for kissing
Call of The Night, a horny anime about a not-very-horny vampire, and the not-very-romantic boy who is trying to fall in love with her.
I wrote about the Hanamusa ship, which got attention from Kiana Mai, and therefore, it got fantastically large amounts of attention on tumblr. That was cool, that meant that there were people meaningfully engaging with the point of how Delia is a character you know can’t do some things, and you know that Jesse is a character who you know would do most things (that aren’t sensible).
I also wrote about queerness in D&D and my worldbuilding. I talked about how heterosexuality as a cultural frame has to be invented, and that means everyone in Cobrin’Seil exists at a level of background queerness we can’t. I talked about the forced gender locking of two different heritages in the 4e book Heroes of the Feywild, and the way that gender transition in 3rd edition was cheap enough to build infrastructures around.
The Story Piles were kinda overloaded this month – if I’d wanted to, I could probably have done nothing but anime for weeks! I summarised a bunch of queer anime that I didn’t really want to write about entirely as that. I also talked about the way that Wreck It Ralph echoes a story of a trans identity while trying to make that identity invisible. Then I got nostalgic about the woman who scared me about the sin of Pride because she was freaked out by a talking cat plush toy in a book for four year olds.
This month’s shirt design is a design that’s meant to evoke the Ulysses jacket from Fallout: New Vegas, which is a killer shirt design and I like it a lot. I might not buy it myself, because I am currently pretty poor, but that’s not the important thing. The important thing is filling my Redbubble store with stuff that makes me think: hey, I bet X would like this design.
I’m not always right but it’s what I’m trying.
If I could, I’d put this design on the back of a soft jacket. I don’t want it to be a hoodie, because the hood would hang over the top of the design, but maybe a long-sleeve shirt with this design on the back. Not sure.
At the start of this year in my journal I wrote this:
I want to do a better job of the things I know I care about.
Source more.
Plan ahead.
Double check.
Early bedtimes.
Permit softness.
This June, I knew I had some real bad days for early bedtimes. I got to bed at 5 AM one night because I was trying so hard to get marking done before a key date (which I messed up, hilariously, and had more time than I thought). Thing is, this is also a month where I was able to get myself to go to bed at 10 pm every day of the week until the weekend, and that’s good! That’s a really good difference in how I relate to sleep normally, especially since ‘get to bed at 10pm and then wake up at 7am’ is a great way to get more work done.
Elli also got more walks, more walks with both Fox and I together, that’s also great. He loves to walk in the sunshine. Bright, sunny days and he has this way of walking that I call ‘high steppin’, where he kind of struts and bounces as he walks, like he’s much more interested to look around than he is to snuffle around underneath the grass of things.
There was a big windstorm. There was Fox’s birthday, and my sister’s birthday. There was a lot of family stuff this month too. Bloodwork also got to take precedence – I was able to make sure I spent time on that, and time on my literature review.
I feel like I can do more. I want to do more. I want to do better.
Check it out on PRESS.exe to see it with images and links!

How to Incorporate Black Wall Decor for a Stylish Touch
Tumblr media
When it comes to home decor, the color black often gets a bad rap. Some people consider it to be too dark or moody, while others see it as a color that should only be used in small doses. However, when used correctly, black can actually be a powerful and sophisticated design element, especially when it comes to wall decor.
In this comprehensive guide, we’ll take a deep dive into the world of black wall decor, exploring everything from its history and symbolism to the best ways to incorporate it into your home. Whether you’re a fan of minimalist design or you love bold, statement-making pieces, this guide has something for everyone.
First, we’ll explore the history and symbolism of the color black. From ancient times to modern day, black has played a significant role in art, fashion, and culture. We’ll discuss its associations with power, elegance, and sophistication, as well as its darker connotations of mystery and danger.
Why Choose Black Wall Decor?
Tumblr media
There are several reasons why you might choose black wall decor for your home. Here are just a few:
Sophistication: Black is a timeless color that exudes sophistication and elegance. When used in wall decor, it can give a room a sense of luxury and refinement.
Versatility: Black wall decor can work well in a variety of different styles and aesthetics, from modern and minimalist to bohemian and eclectic.
Statement-making: If you want to make a bold statement with your wall decor, black is a great color choice. It can create a dramatic focal point in any room.
Neutral: Despite being a strong color, black is also a neutral that can complement a wide range of other colors and patterns.
Timeless: Black wall decor never goes out of style, making it a great long-term investment for your home.
How to Hang Black Wall Decor
Tumblr media
Once you’ve chosen your black wall decor, it’s important to hang it properly to ensure it stays securely on your wall. Here are some tips for hanging black wall decor:
Choose the right hardware: Depending on the size and weight of your black wall decor, you may need to use different types of hardware to hang it. For smaller pieces, you can use picture-hanging hooks or adhesive strips. For larger pieces, you may need to use a wall anchor or a heavy-duty hanging bracket.
Measure carefully: Before hanging your black wall decor, use a tape measure to determine the exact placement you want. This will ensure that your piece is level and centered on the wall.
Use a level: To ensure that your black wall decor is hanging straight, use a level to check that it is not tilted.
Consider grouping pieces: If you have multiple pieces of black wall decor, consider grouping them together to create a cohesive display. Use a level and measuring tape to ensure that the pieces are evenly spaced and aligned.
Avoid direct sunlight: To prevent your black wall decor from fading or discoloring, avoid hanging it in direct sunlight.
Where to Buy Black Wall Decor
There are many places where you can buy black wall decor for your home. Here are some options to consider:
Home decor stores: Many home decor stores carry a variety of black wall decor, from framed prints to wall sculptures.
Online retailers: Online retailers like Amazon and Wayfair offer a wide selection of black wall decor at varying price points.
Art galleries: If you’re looking for unique and high-end black wall decor, consider visiting an art gallery. You may be able to find one-of-a-kind pieces that are not available elsewhere.
Thrift stores and flea markets: If you’re on a budget, thrift stores and flea markets can be great places to find affordable black wall decor. Look for vintage pieces or pieces that you can upcycle to fit your style.
DIY: If you’re feeling creative, consider making your own black wall decor. You can paint a canvas or create a collage using black and white images.
In conclusion, black wall decor can add a touch of sophistication and elegance to any room in your home. By following these tips for choosing, hanging, and buying black wall decor, you can create a stylish and timeless look that you’ll love for years to come.

Why its important to have an Integrated Marketing Plan for your business.
New Post has been published on https://wr1tepress.com/why-its-important-to-have-an-integrated-marketing-plan-for-your-business/
Why its important to have an Integrated Marketing Plan for your business.
An integrated marketing plan is the foundation of a great business plan. It allows for deeper understanding of your company surroundings, it prospect customers, and it industry current market trends. Companies are better able to grasp its businesss position in the market, and enter the market by pinpointing the areas of potential growth.
What kind of art do you like?
There are many opportunities to browse art within your community at local exhibitions, art fairs and galleries. Even small towns usually have a not-for-profit gallery space, or cafes and restaurant that exhibit local artists. In larger cities, galleries often get together for monthly or periodic “gallery nights” where all the galleries hold open house receptions on the same evening. Its a great way to see a lot of art in a short time.
Today the internet provides the largest variety and depth of fine art available worldwide. You can visit museum websites and see master works from ages past, check out online galleries for group shows, and visit hundreds of individual artists websites. One advantage of using the internet is that you can search for the specific kind of art you are interested in, whether its photography, impressionism, bronze sculpture, or abstract painting. And when you find one art site, youll usually find links to many, many more.
Should the art fit the room or the room fit the art?
If you feel strongly about a particular work of art, you should buy the art you love and then find a place to put it. But you may find that when you get the art home and place it on a wall or pedestal, it doesnt work with its surroundings. By not “working,” I mean the art looks out of place in the room. Placing art in the wrong surroundings takes away from its beauty and impact.
What should you do if you bring a painting home and it clashes with its environment? First, hang the painting in various places in your home, trying it out on different walls. It may look great in a place you hadnt planned on hanging it. If you cant find a place where the art looks its best, you may need to make some changes in the room, such as moving furniture or taking down patterned wallpaper and repainting in a neutral color. The changes will be worth making in order to enjoy the art you love.
Sometimes the right lighting is the key to showing art at its best. You may find that placing a picture light above a painting or directing track lighting on it is all the art needs to exhibit its brilliance. If you place a work of art in direct sunlight, however, be sure it wont be affected by the ultraviolet light. Pigments such as watercolor, pencil and pastel are especially prone to fading. Be sure to frame delicate art under UV protected glass or acrylic.
How to pick art to fit the room.
Size and color are the two major criteria for selecting art to fit its surroundings. For any particular space, art that is too large will overwhelm, and art that is too small will be lost and look out of proportion. The bolder the art, the more room it needs to breathe.
As a rule, paintings should be hung so that the center of the painting is at eye level. Sculpture may sit on the floor, a table, or pedestal, depending on the design. Rules should be considered guidelines only, however, so feel free to experiment.
When selecting a painting to match color, select one or two of the boldest colors in your room and look for art that has those colors in it. Youre not looking for an exact match here. Picking up one or two of the same colors will send a message that the painting belongs in this environment.
Another possibility for dealing with color is to choose art with muted colors, black-and-white art, or art that is framed in a way that mutes its color impact in the room. A wide light-colored mat and neutral frame create a protected environment for the art within.
Style is another consideration when selecting art to fit a room. If your house is filled with antiques, for example, youll want to use antique-style frames on the paintings you hang there. If you have contemporary furniture in large rooms with high ceilings, youll want to hang large contemporary paintings.
How to create an art-friendly room.
Think about it. When you walk into a gallery or museum, what do they all have in common? White walls and lots of light. If a wall is wall-papered or painted a color other than white, it limits the choices for hanging art that will look good on it. If a room is dark, the art will not show to its best advantage.
If you want to make art the center of attraction, play down the other elements of the room like window coverings, carpeting, wall coverings, and even furniture. A room crowded with other colors, textures and objects will take the spotlight away from the art. Follow the principle that less is more. Keep it spare and let the art star. Then relax and enjoy it.
Selecting and displaying art is an art in itself. Experiment to learn what pleases you and what doesnt. Youll be well-rewarded for the time you invest by finding more satisfaction both in the art and in your home.

Album cover wall decor how to#
Album cover wall decor mod#
Album cover wall decor windows#
This technique works on most porous items like wooden ornaments, dressers, and photo frames.
Album cover wall decor mod#
For an older-looking piece, add a layer of antiquing tint before applying more Mod Podge and then a layer of polyurethane. Lay out the tunes, apply a layer of Mod Podge directly to an item of furniture, place the sheet music, and coat with another layer of Mod Podge. It also makes fantastic furniture covering, per Miss Mustard Seed. Of course, sheet music can substitute for any paper decorating application, including tablescapes, collages, wallpaper, and handmade wreaths. Why not use them and make some beautiful music in your home? From simply displaying a favorite piece of music on a steampunk or Victorian music stand, sheet music mixes with all decorating styles. The music and lyrics come in fashionable covers that express their era and genre. When bubbles form as the coating dries, use a blow dryer to make them disappear as the polyurethane cures.Īvailable in every style, theme, and color, with bright pictures of composers, singers, bands, and Hollywood stars, sheet music is a conversation starter. Tape the table edges, and pour on and spread the polyurethane. Once assembled, glue them to the table and apply four or five more layers to keep the polyurethane from penetrating the papers. Get some Mod Podge and polyurethane, and start organizing your musical treasures. To make your own version of this table, you'll need a drop cloth, sandpaper, painter's tape, foam brush, gloves, a drywall scraper, a bucket, and a paint mixing stick. No matter your musical taste, concert tickets and photos on acid-free paper make beautiful music together on a coffee table like this from Rouse House Design. Of course, shadow boxes and display tables can hold musical memories but let's give them something more substantial. Toward the end of that post, you’ll find some suggestions for hanging them on different types of windows. If you have tickets, swag, or large posters from classic rock bands like the Rolling Stones or Bruce Springsteen, combine them into a personally curated musical exhibit in your home.
Album cover wall decor how to#
You’ll find a detailed tutorial on how I hang my wreaths here: How to Hang Wreaths on Exterior Windows. I just replaced all mine a couple of years ago (they last for many, many years) and I purchased them here: Bows with Streamers for Holiday Wreaths.
Album cover wall decor windows#
Update: I’ve had a few emails/questions about where I purchased the bows for the wreaths I hang on my exterior windows each year. Thanks to Teresa for letting me share this fabulous idea for repurposing our old record albums! Loved my visit to the great state of Texas! I have several more posts I can’t wait to share from that visit. You’ll also find them available here, although, I think the first link is the better deal: Frames for Framing Record Albums. The frames come in packs of 3 and they are currently on sale here: Frames Perfect for Framing Record Albums. Arrives by Wed, Aug 31 Buy ANERZA Album Cover Posters, Album Covers Wall Collage Kit Aesthetic Pictures, Room Decor Aesthetic Vintage, Cute Bedroom Photo. The only cost involved to decorate this huge wall over the bed was just for the cost of the frames, which wasn’t that much. What record albums do you still have from the past? I love this idea so much! Old record albums often have really interesting covers and this is such a cool way to remember the music you were really into back in the day.Īny time we can take something from our past that we may no longer be using and turn it into something beautiful or functional, that’s totally a win-win! Instead of tossing out or donating her old record albums from yesteryear, she turned them into exciting wall art!ĭo you still have all your old albums from days past? I was absolutely enthralled with how she had decorated above and around the bed! When I visited with my friend, Teresa recently, this was the bedroom where I stayed.

I Call This One: Bold & Brash!
The egos x artist! gn! reader
ty @pokemonpunqueen for the request!
A/N: I’ve decided that I’m gonna write for the egos when I can’t think of anything else or I need practice writing lmao. I mean I was doing that before? But I didn’t know it? listen it’s fine it’ll be fine but FOR NOW I thiiiink I’m gonna take requests. Just a few. I’ll stop when I think it gets too much. This is exactly what it says. I focused on like drawing/painting for “artist”, with some references to animation thrown in there. I did Darkiplier, Wilford, Yancy, Illinois, Google, Eric, and a Host thrown in there bc I love him and I miss him
Word count is 1.5k
Enjoy
Egos x artist!reader
Darkiplier
He’ll want to commission art from you
He makes comments about how Mark is a narcissist but also he’s a narcissist.
Oh look, Dark’s asking you for another picture. What does he want? He wants you to draw him? Again? For the fifth time this fucking month? Wonderful.
He likes looking at how you make art of him, be it stylistic or realistic
He will hang them up all over the fucking house so pace yourself
He’s fine if you draw anybody else
Except Mark. Never Mark. How can he tell, you ask? No fucking clue, but he does
Gets a bit worried that you won’t make enough money to live comfortably
Just because not everyone needs a fucking MANSION-
Will always buy things for you if you ask
Likes to be able to support your job or hobby
Sugar daddy? I mean maybe
Makes sure you eat, sleep, drink water, survive--
Leaves snacks for you at your desk for when you don’t want a meal.
Carries you to bed if you fall asleep at a desk
Recommends you wear comfy clothes at all times so you can fall asleep wherever
A bit of an enabler, he’s doing his best tho
If you take commissions don’t be surprised if he threatens to kill someone when they don’t pay or are rude to you
He loves you, that’s all
Wilford
Fucking elated
Draw him!!! Please!!!! Please draw him!!!!! He has coin!!!!! He can pay!!!!!
Ecstatic if you actually draw him like he’ll giggle for an hour straight just looking
Secretly commissions more art from you
So also sugar daddy
It’s always something so obvious so you know it’s him anyways
He likes bright colors and eyestrain for some reason
If you make that, he just. Stares at it. Unblinking. You have to snap him out of it (im not projecting what do you mean)
Gets extremely worried about you not taking care of yourself
Gets someone to fucking babysit you when he’s gone so you take care of yourself
When you get greatly offended by this he settles for texting you reminders
And when you ignore those he texts more
Don’t be surprised if you get spammed by several people and an alarm starts to play from somewhere in the house
You’re gonna be healthy whether you like it or not, asshole
Drags you to bed aggressively
He WILL NOT drug your food with melatonin because that’s illegal. B U T-
He’s a little confused, but he got the spirit
Will advertise your art to anyone and everyone and also on his show and threatens the audience with a gun
AGAIN, a little confused. he just wuvs u so much
Yancy
I mean technically he’s kind of an artist too so he appreciates your skill and creativity
He’s very nosy and likes to look over your shoulder while you work
If you don’t like him doing that, he still does it, just more secretively
Likes to work in the same room as you.
That is if you don’t mind constant singing or tap dancing in the background
He shows off your art to anyone and everyone and gets mad if they don’t immediately say it’s fantastic
May or may not have stabbed someone over it, you’ll never know
If you show him something you’re working on, he’ll show you something he’s working on in return
The law of equivalent exchange
You tell him you can make MONEY from things like art and dancing and he goes apeshit he gets so fucking excited
If you’re like an animator and offer to animate his dancing he might actually cry
He’ll deny it constantly every day until he dies
If you make things traditionally he hangs them on the wall Everywhere
You might run out of room
By which i mean you will run out of room as soon as possible
Will never tell you a drawing is bad ever unless it’s like Really Bad which it never will be in his eyes
He loves anything and everything you do u are so precious
You have a permanent support system within the man
Google
Used to see art as pointless
Then comprehended the chemical release it causes in the brain and thought that was fine
Then saw you get really mad with something you were working on and got confused again?
If art no make good chemical, why art?
He still doesn’t understand, but that’s ok
You tried to get him to make something once
He just. Kinda. Made a buncha ones and zeroes
You still framed it and hung in on the wall and he got embarrassed
If he could blush, he would
If you draw him he looks like he doesn’t care but it’s at that point he decides he would die for you
Primary objective: answer questions as quickly as possible. Secondary objective: make u happy. Tertiary objective is to destroy mankind
If you draw bing that will disappear IMMEDIATELY you have BETRAYED him
If you ask for a color palette recommendation he Always says the google colors. Always.
You might’ve thought he was going for an rgby type of thing. But then you realize.
He is in charge of your financing. He will tell you the most efficient ways to make money as an artist and you follow then
He is also in charge of making sure you FUCKING EAT A MEAL
“But isn’t an objective to destroy mankind?” shut up he’s not happy about it either
Despite his best efforts he loves you and that ain’t gonna change
Illinois
Doesn’t fully understand
He needs to be outside at all times and cannot stay in one place
And you’re like??? Required to stay still???? For prolonged amounts of time????? Disgusting. Anyway, whatcha workin’ on?
He might ask you to try and teach him
If you do try he gives up almost immediately
Sometimes you just get so into it that you forget to do basic things and he gets upset
(i.e. eating, sleeping, living, etc.)
He gets worried about you
He is a hypocrite bc he does the same
He will drag you to bed, motherfucker
Honestly he might lock your shit somewhere until you fucking take care of yourself. it’s like a hostage situation god
“Where the fuck did you put it” “I have no clue what you mean. I might know if you eat your dinner, though”
Asshole (affectionate)
Sometimes you like make faces when you try to draw a person and it’s hilarious and cute to him
He looks at your drawings the moment you walk away but acts like he doesn’t care
He cares a lot
Will support you no matter what but will also tell you without hesitation if he thinks something looks shit
Listen he’s out of line but he’s right
Eric
Loves you a lot and will support anything and everything you choose to do or make
Drawing? Awesome! Painting? Wonderful! Animation? Superb!
He often wants to buy you supplies or something but he does not know what anything is
Fuck is a chalk pencil???? What are gel pens vs normal pens?????? Watercolor????? What the fuck are you saying??????????
Will subtly drop hints that you could,,,, draw him,,,,, maybe,,,,, if u wanna
And by subtly I mean he starts to ask and then starts crying
If you draw him he will cry again he loves u so much
If he ever were to get a tattoo it’d be something u drew. Nothing else is as important to him at the moment
He enjoys photography and film, and likes to try and bond with you over artistic things
I mean. Some things overlap.
You could talk about a single drawing for hours and he’d listen intently the whole time
Don’t ask him for feedback, it’s always some version of “it’s perfect and I love you”
Even if he hates it
Which,,,,, he might hate it sometimes
He’s not a good reviewer. 2/10, very biased
He likes to take photos when you’re in the zone
If you tell him to delete them he will
While secretly making one his home screen
Host
Hey, he gets it
He writes, he understands the hyperfocus
Sometimes he wouldn’t move from his chair for a day because he was busy writing a script
That being said, you probably have to be the one to get him to take care of himself
Or you have to take turns
Otherwise you’re both gonna fucking die
He asks you to describe your art to him and tries to picture it.
He’ll tell you if he thinks it probably looks good or bad
You shouldn’t take it to heart because he can’t see it
He is a bastard sometimes
“Well, what do you think?” “I think it looks fantastic” “Thanks, babe” “...” “... you think you’re fucking funny, don’t you”
He asks if you can draw him sometimes
No, he won’t see it, but he’ll appreciate the sentiment if you do
He will ask for your opinion on his scripts sometimes
If you say it’s bad he gets really defensive
You work in the same room a lot of the time and forget the other is there
One of you has to preemptively order food or like set a timer so you can goddamn Survive
You’ll be fine

OG 911 Character Details from Canon Pt 2
Hi y’all I’m back! I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who reblogged the last details post - I sort of just thought people would like it and it would die, so to see it travel and hopefully reach more writers was so great so thank you again!
Details under the cut since I went a little crazy 😅 and if this is your first time seeing this, the first part, and any future parts, can be found under this tag here!
Quick note before I get to the details - always, ALWAYS take details from dialogue or plot over details from the set or props if they contradict each other. The writers have the ultimate say over what happens on the show/for the characters, so whatever they say goes, even if it goes against something props has already laid down (eg, Chim’s birthday, sorry Libra crew. He’s an Aries or a Pisces). So keep that in mind for the future in case some of these details I have which are from props/set are changed in the future, or if you’ve noticed something yourself!
Also if you have questions, I am MORE than happy to answer them, although if you leave them in the tags on this post I’m probably gonna lose them, so if it’s something you’d genuinely like an answer to, drop it in my inbox! Besides my standard “ask” tags, I’m also tagging asks about canon details with this tag here. Every time I make a big post like this, I’m going to link all the asks I’ve gotten since the last post, but if you’re looking for more info in the mean time, that’s the other spot to look!
Buck has a grill on his patio.
Eddie doesn’t hang Christopher’s art on the fridge - instead it is either hung on the corkboard in Chris’ room to the left of the door, or Eddie puts it in an actual frame and hangs it using a hammer/nails in Christopher’s room. All the Diaz family has on their fridge is a bunch of bendy people magnets. (I absolutely ADORE him putting all this effort into treating Christopher’s art like it’s something you’d buy from a professional artist).
Info on everyone’s ages can be found here. (Little more discussion of Chim’s situation here).
Albert has a bachelor’s degree! I don’t know in what though, except that it’s some field for which is a Master’s is useful.
Athena was in a sorority in college, Delta Sigma Theta. Their website describes them as “ ...a sisterhood comprised primarily of Black, college-educated women ... [that] considers the issues impacting the Black community and boldly confronts the challenges of African Americans and, hence, all Americans ”, which I love for Athena, and feel is very in-character for her at that time in her life!
Chim is an aviators dude. When he wears sunglasses, they’re always aviators.
Athena also wears nothing but aviators.
Bobby wears square aviators.
Eddie, on the other hand, always wears Wayfarers.
Buck either doesn’t really like sunglasses or he constantly forgets he owns them, since we’ve only seen him wear them once in 60 eps, in a move I’m pretty sure was ONLY for dramatic effect.
Hen’s sunglasses change style over the seasons like her regular glasses do, but she tends to like browline sunglasses.
Info on Christopher’s school can be found here!
There are two colors of dispatch polo, and there doesn’t seem to be any rhythm or reason for who wears what. Maroon - Maddie and Linda. Blue - Josh and May. Jamal has actually worn both maroon and blue, so it doesn’t seem to be TOTALLY set in stone although I’ve never seen anyone else switch. Sue is too badass to wear a dispatch shirt.
Both Bobby and Eddie drive 4 door pickups. Bobby’s is navy. Eddie specifically has a black, 2020 GMC Denali 1500 pickup truck (in case you want to specifically look up what the inside of it looks like or what features it has 😂)
Info on the 118’s medical certifications can be found here.
Correction to Eddie’s living situation from last post: no next door neighbors, but instead UPSTAIRS neighbors. (Pointed out by Abigail in this ask). Also since someone else was wondering the notes of the last post - no, there is absolutely no discussion on the show of whether or not Eddie rents the apartment or owns it. But based on the fact that it’s 1) LA and 2) an apartment, my guess would be he rents it.
When Maddie isn’t feeling like herself, she tends to straighten her hair rather than curl it. It seems to be more when she’s uncertain about her place in her own and other people’s lives, rather than just when she’s simply worried - eg it’s straight in 2B, when she’s uncertain if she wants to continue working as a dispatcher/is unsure about her relationship with Chim.
For work, Chim, Eddie and Buck all use black duffel bags with a LAFD patch on the top. Hen uses several different cute bags, and Bobby seems to have a plain black duffel bag.
Watches - Bobby, Athena, Chim, Hen and Buck all wear their watch on their left wrist (but Athena ONLY wears hers for work, she takes it off at home.) Eddie wears his on his right wrist, and Maddie doesn’t wear one.
Chim (and Maddie by default) literally still have the exact same couch as in the pilot. (Which means that Chim has cuddled Tatiana on that couch, AND Albert has had sex on it. TIME TO GET A NEW ONE, BUCKLEY-HANS 😂)
The 118 has five different rigs - the engine (E118), the ladder truck (T118), two ambulances and the captain’s truck. 95% of the time, when the team is chilling in the cab of a rig and chatting (eg the ‘stuck under a live telephone pole’ scene in Jinx), they’re in the engine, not the truck. (Which I personally learned recently are NOT interchangeable terms!)
Athena and Michael got married when Athena was 37.
If you’d like to give Maddie a full name beyond “Maddie”, you should use Madeline. (I know, I know, in 4x04 she says Maddie is the name on her birth certificate, and that you should never use props details if they contradict script details, but I always thought that was a super weird exchange in 4x04 which could be explained by Maddie getting a nickname since she was born when Margaret and Phillip, you know, actually loved their kids and showed it, so of course Buck doesn’t get one, and in 4x04, Maddie was trying to avoid the entire issue of why she got one and Buck didn’t. But! Do what you want, and use Madeline as the full version of Maddie if you’d like, since that’s what’s on the BOLO in 2x13 😂)
Athena’s call sign is 727 L30, but she doesn’t have a specific squad car - the number changes throughout the series.
Chim really likes chewing gum, but he’s the only one out of the entire family!
The station has an Xbox One S, and it’s white.
In the real LAFD, there are stations 1 through 114. To avoid confusion while filming on the streets (I’m assuming), our fictional LAFD never uses the number of a real station. So if you want another station for a fic, and you want something that would be real in OUR universe, use the numbers 115 and above. They’ve gone as high as 221 in our universe.
Battalions - station 118 is in Battalion 7, which is also not a battalion in real Los Angeles. The 118 has interacted w/ Battalion 1, which is a real battalion, but other ‘non-real which makes them more likely for our universe’ battalions include numbers: 3, 8, 13, 16, 19 and above.
S1 Buck knew the term Jedi, but based on context, didn’t understand AT ALL the context provided by Star Wars, so there’s another edge of his pop culture limits for you.
Chim is the most tech-savvy out of everyone, hands down.
Athena has a VERY active Twitter account.
Abuela’s house number is 8902. I don’t have a street name for you unfortunately though. :/
Athena’s favorite flowers are white roses. None of the other women are really flower people.
Michael likes to wear purple.
When they’re at a call, Buck does pretty much all of the stuff with the hammer and the saw. Eddie does all the work needed with the drill.
Harry goes to Meadowbrook Elementary.
Buck lives on the fourth floor of his apartment building, across the hall from Apt. 416. The lovely @lovelessmotel found this listing for what is more or less the apartment. What happened was: the set crew rented this apartment for the one episode at the end of s2 when Buck moved in, and then over the summer before s3 built their own set of it, and changed some things - eg giving him an island, and moving the sink to a second counter against the far wall, you can see the changes here in this amazing gif set by the awesome Austen, but the listing should let you click around a little more upstairs and figure out dimensions better than what the show provides!
When Athena and Hen go out to eat together, it’s always fast food burgers and fries.
Waffles are Athena’s favorite food, and tiramisu is her favorite dessert.
Every takeout we’ve seen Buck eat has always been in a Chinese food takeout container, and we know he likes Thai food the best. EXCEPT! The one time we see him eat takeout with Eddie and Christopher, they have pizza. So take from that what you will......
Eddie has a cell phone and a landline.
Chim is a shameless multiple texter.
Chim and Bobby sleep closest to the door in their respective bedrooms (both right side of the bed if you are standing at the foot, facing the headboard), and Athena and Maddie sleep furthest away from the door (left side).
Some canon last names for other firefighters at the station in case you wanna add more people to a fic - Mitchell, Sanchez, Serrano (woman), Porter, Meyers (woman), Maxwell, Voyta
Hen and Karen really love decorating their house with dark/red wood.
Karen is Mommy and Hen is Mama.
Bobby has a brother, and a grandmother, and that’s literally ALL we know about his family outside of Marcy and the kids.
Evidence points to Eddie being the oldest child in his family.
Karen has multiple brothers (no sisters), but no idea how many - just that one of them is named Trey, and one of them lives in LA and has kids. They might be the same brother and they might not be.
Both Hen and Athena are only children.
Athena has been on the police force for 30 years.
Christopher and Denny are the same age (born in 2011), and Harry is two years older than them.
Michael lives in apartment 308.
The bank in this universe is CalAm.
Hen and Karen have a picture of Denny, May and Harry on their fireplace mantel.
Eddie having a black thumb + a lot of plants in his living room = him buying fake plants bc he likes the aesthetic ™ or someone (cough Carla cough) is taking care of them for him.
The COVID timeline in OG’s universe is fucked up compared to the real world’s, so it shouldn’t be used as a way to measure time! They just throw it in wherever it makes sense for the story they want to tell (eg the vaccines in s4 ep 8), since s3 was both done before COVID hit but also airing while it was happening. It makes absolutely no sense for May to graduate in March nor for Chris to be going to what is specifically labeled summer camp, and the vaccine plotline was INCREDIBLY early, even for real life, so don’t use anything from that as a measure of time. I’ve found except in specific examples, eg the two tsunami episodes, it’s very safe to say every episode covers a week - fall holidays on the show line up with their real life counterparts, indicating about the same amount of time is passing for us and them.
On that note - Jee-Yun was born in late January, early February 2021. (Conceived in Pinned, which was end of March/beginning of April, meaning Maddie was around a month along at May’s graduation in May ➡ 42 weeks + 3 days from then = late Jan/early Feb. Which unfortunately means we most likely won’t see her birthday celebrated on screen. If we assume she was conceived on the date Pinned aired, aka the very sexy hotel scene, then January 21st or 22nd would be Jee’s birthday, depending on if she was born after midnight or not.
Buck has had at least one other Jeep between the one Maddie gave him, and the one he has now, which means that when he needs a new car, he is purposefully choosing Jeeps.
I hope this was all as interesting/enjoyable to you as it was to me! And just to repeat - I love answering questions so pls let me know if you have any at all ❤
