Orwell's depiction of a dystopian world was one where people are crushed by oppressors and have no hope of escape, meanwhile Huxley's depiction of a dystopian world was one where people passively and happily allow their oppression.
This is why Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget took such a sharp turn in aesthetics compared to the original film, as the oppressive and dark visual themes of the first film as well as the narrative themes of forced compliance compare better with something like Orwell's 1984 but the colourful retro-futurist themes of the sequel, combined with the themes of delusional compliance and mind-control compare better with Huxley's Brave New World. In this essay I will--

new art for merch?
They’re really hyping up this release for some reason 🤔 so maybe it’ll be an extensive line of new merch featuring this art??
It seems to feature the TWST boys in the more classic Disney traditional animation art style. The clothes are suits with sashes and crystalline sleeves, which look like something a Disney prince would wear (just with less color).
So far only two examples have been released (Riddle and Leona, pictured below). We will see more designs in the days in come!

ok here’s my take: when the little mermaid isn’t trying to hit every single beat of the animated film it’s a goddamn delight, and every time it decides to do a setpiece/homage to the 1989 movie after under the sea it really kind of drags (so, poor unfortunate souls, the sidekick parts of kiss the girl and honestly the moment between ariel and triton at the very end, in the boat). just. i could have watched a whole film of ariel and eric frolicking around the island bonding over their shared love of exploration and drive to see the world, and then various shenanigans after she turned back into a mermaid

for those confused- the blond boy is GOLDEN FREDDY. this is obvious when he shows up in abby's home and is very clearly apprearing AS GF, with the missing ear, busted eye etc (not to mention disappearing when abby gets to the pizzeria, because he is a GHOST and doesnt have a physical animatronic to possess) BUT
this is also made obvious by his placement and his role amongst the group. we never hear any of the other kids talk, even as animatronics. just him. people consider freddy the leader of the band, but hes Not the leader of the ghost pack. the most powerful of the 5 is golden freddy, with the ability to instant kill in game, create the hallucinations and such.
ALSO something that stuck out to me is where hes always seen standing.... it'a very reminiscent of where we see golden freddy in the bad ending of fnaf 3- hes found a place inbetween the others
hes the one who always seems Off, and the blond boy is the only one who is a logical fit for him. plus given how obvious the other kids are connected to an animatronic, i think the blond hair makes it kiiiiinda blatant. (and he has gold stripes on his shirt, if you wanna argue 'his shirt is brown!!')
PLUS the blond ghosts actions VS the animatronic freddy just dont match up. the ghost kid is a planner, cunning and somewhat manipulative. freddy is just a silly guy who acts no more menacing than the rest of the gang. GF's only tools are his words because he doesnt have a body....
(garrett is also very clearly the puppet in this universe-!! so he's definitely still involved.)

This popped into my head last night and now I can't shake it. Anyone else here think there is something so oddly familiar about an enemies to friends to lovers relationship between a scoundrel who flits from one job to the next in a vintage starship with an alien companion he's extremely close to (surviving on 70% luck and 30% skill) and a warrior princess with a bitchy attitude who lost her planet and is leading a rebellion against the Empire? No? Just me, huh.
