Anyone else notice how only Rhaenyra is shown to be a loving mother but not Alicent and Helaena?
Emma’s first scene of Rhaenyra giving birth, Olivia’s is Alicent being the cruel stepmother who forces Joffrey be bought to her immediately. For extra points they even have Rhaenyra leave a trail of blood just to show how evil Alicent is.
Rhaenyra is constantly kissing and showing affection to her sons. Alicent’s only scenes with Aegon is her berating him and Helaena recoils from her touch. All to show Rhaenyra’s the perfect mother with perfect sons whilst Alicent’s a mess just like her kids.
We have a scene where Rhaenyra happily introduces her youngest two to Viserys, she’s cuddling them and smiling with her father. Meanwhile the show doesn’t even tell us Jaehaera and Jaehaerys’ names, Helaena doesn’t even hold them, no one else acknowledges them. Just so we don’t feel too sad about Blood & Cheese.
I noticed it too and it angers me a lot. It’s such a shame we didn’t get to see team green just being a family that acts like one.
When my grandma was watching the show she didn’t even realize that the twins were supposed to be a boy and a girl.
It’s like the creators can’t write a single scene where the greens are showing love and emotions, especially the two mothers, Alicent and Helaena. Almost as if they’re afraid we are going to sympathize with them. I know that both were technically forced to have children, but that doesn’t mean in any way that they didn’t love them and that they were bad mothers, especially Helaena??
ugh it makes me so mad

Gilbert's spoiler lists :D
Still incomplete though and not in order lol
Tumblr media
Why is Gilbert using an eyepatch?
Because he knew one day, he would die, and when he heard about the story of the real Leon Dompteur, that his mother is looking for a slave boy that looks exactly like the real prince (yeah he knows that too) and Gil thinks that's cool
He actually found someone who looks like him, and since his eyepatch is covering (almost) half of his face, no one would know (that the real Gilbert is dead, if ever)
But ofc his "duplicate" isn't needed anymore because he decided to live for Emma
Why did he remove it?
Ehehe bc lovey dovey time
Tumblr media
After undressing her, Gil is taking his sweet time admiring his little bunny's body
Emma is shy and covered her chests with her arms, and Gil said he will remove his eyepatch
He did, and she was bamboozled
Now he can see her in full view lol ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
And said that he will only remove his eyepatch whenever he and Emma are alone
Why red and blue eyes?
The red eye was from the father side while the blue was from the mother side
If I'm not mistaken, red was the eye color of Obsidian family
It's only Gilbert who has red and blue eyes
Isn't he so beautiful?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
About Chev and Gil
Chev and Gil have known each other since they were kids, and often read books together (I think near his "hideout"? Because the background is the same from the flashback and from the scene where he took Emma to his private place or probably in some sort of alley
Chev knows that Gil was once like Emma, who is pure hearted
He asked Chev that if ever he's not around Emma, Chev must protect her, since he is the only one who can protect her
Chev was stunned, it took him a moment to understand what Gilbert means, it's his will, his dying wish
After exchanging a few words, Chev agreed
His family?
Gil had 4 brothers, all dead. Including their mom. I think he has no relatives other than Yves, after all, the Obsidian family are killing each other for the throne
He is the current emperor, he killed his father, who tried (and failed) to invade Rhodolite 10 years ago
First love
Gilbert and Emma have never met before, but since Gilbert used to stay in Rhodolite when he was a child, he met Akatsuki (bookstore owner) and Emma's adoptive father. Akatsuki mentioned that little Emma is so pure hearted and loves books, just like him.
Whenever Gilbert and Akatsuki met, he will tell him more about her and Akatsuki blamed himself for Gilbert's obsession for Emma
And since he's so obsessed with her, he made sure she will stay by his side, Emma was a hostage but she actually went with him in Obsidian willingly
Since the emperor fell in love with her, overnight Emma became the Empress of Obsidian (proxy)
Chokebert
Whoever discovers his illness (his weakness) will die, and Emma finds out (thanks Walter)
Gil strangled her, but when she passed out, he lets go and bury his face on her shoulder
His doctor shouted at him that if he kills the woman he loves, he will suffer more
Gil denies this, and when Emma woke up, he gave her a choice, either die or she will live with him forever
Illness? Is he dying?
Technically, yes
But he refused to have surgery, saying that the evil bloodline of the Obsidian family must end with him
He's coughing blood
Having seizures
But dw, he decided to have a surgery so he can live with Emma

No one:
Me: You know who would have been better as Belle's infidelity partner than Will Scarlet? Jefferson.
Tumblr media
Before I begin, THIS IS NOT A BELLE HATE POST! Yes, I am going to address IT, but I am not putting her down for this...and I'll tell you why.
So after that god-freaking-awful twist in 4x11 when Belle sends Rumple over the town line, both he and Belle are left shattered at their dubious betrayals, the latter of which so much so she sought additional comfort (again, not hate, just hear me out).
That love interest ... for whatever reason ... was Will Scarlet, a cameo from Once Upon a Time's short-lived spin-off OUAT in Wonderland, which had ended a few months prior.
Tumblr media
I, along with a good chunk of the fanbase, thought it was a unique choice, and most likely a way to acknowledge the spin-off in canon.
Don't get me wrong, I like Will as a character in OUATIW, but he was just off to me in OUAT. Like he was just shoved in there without a real purpose. Even his scenes with Robin Hood felt forced to me.
And honestly, it seemed strange to me that Belle, the logical scholar and fruitful romantic, would break her wedding vows of all things even after what Rumple did.
BUT THEN AGAIN, I also don't think it's established how intensive wedding vows are in this universe. I mean, Snow technically cheated on David with Dr. Whale, and while it's addressed comedically, it's not really addressed as an issue in their marriage but they comfortably move on from none the less.
Of course, it's obviously just the show's weakest attempt at *drama* and a way to baffle the Rumbellers into stunned silence so they can focus on *other things* (I am NOT going THERE today.)
And I think I remember an article or something about Will's actor's Michael Socha, feeling underused and wanting out especially since he had a kid at home. While he has a few zingers between him and other characters like Rumple and Hook, he looks so awkward when he's on-screen with Belle, like even he doesn't know why he's there!
But for the sake of *drama* Belle needs some side yum. Cool. Girl's gotta work out her frustrations some way right? But WILL SCARLET?!
This Will Scarlet?
Tumblr media
"I love you Anastasia Tremaine" Will Scarlet?
Tumblr media
Who ripped his heart out because her betrayal was just too much?
Tumblr media
For freaking sake, they had a TLK!!!
Tumblr media
I will only, and I mean ONLY accept the following two theories as a reason why...this happened...
1. This takes place during Will and Anastasia's break.
It's established in the OUATIW that the events in the spinoff are happening sometime in either late-season 1 or early season 2's canon. I think. But maybe, just maybe, it was actually around season 4's timeline? The timeline is screwed to hell anyway so...
Ana's presence is established in OUAT after Will, who broke into the library and vandalized a copy of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, is arrested and held indefinitely. And while Will looks distraught at the mention of his former love, but he's not devastated enough
The scene subsequently serves as a pointless but sweet way to introduce Belle and Will. I myself wrote a fic few years back as a way to fill in how that played out afterwards. But the actual writers just kind of tossed it in there.
And dropped it.
Yeah, WIll just kind of disappeared after season 4. Thanks for stopping by, I guess.
And btw, you cannot convince me that a guy who reacts like this after watching the love of his life get killed in front of him:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like I kid you not, Will's screams and cries were stuck in my head after that episode. I gasped and covered my mouth. I remember feeling the same way when Graham died in OUAT because Emma's grief was just as raw as this. This is not the kind of grief you just up and move on with so casually. This sticks with you.
BACK TO JEFFERSON
Okay, I swear, I have a point.
Again, if Belle just *needed* a love interest during her break from Rumple, fine, but why not use the opportunity to do some freaking fan service after that Frozen mess?
Bring. Back. The. Hatter.
Why Jefferson?
He has an established relationship with Belle.
Tumblr media
Even if the ugly truth is Jefferson had to know Belle was being held captive in the hospital asylum, Belle would still, begrudgingly, be grateful he freed her and reunited her with Rumplestiltskin. Maybe he tried apologizing with coffee, and...things happen.
Plus he has an established relationship with Rumplestiltskin PRIOR to Belle.
No. You cannot tell me these two:
Tumblr media
...were just "business associates". No these two were hitting shroons in Wonderland every Tuesday at happy hour, do I make myself clear? It's obvious they weren't friends but they worked well together.
That scene in the shop would have been BANGER if Jefferson had been in Will's place. I mean the possibilities are endless with their establishment. They could have opened up an opportunity to explore more of Rumple's deals with Jefferson to find a way to the Land Without Magic, or even their shared connection with Regina, established, beloved connections in the series the audience would be comfortable with.
And honestly, I think Belle and Jefferson could have very nice chemistry too.
Their both worldly, and I can see these two sitting at a booth in Granny's forever as Jefferson told her her stories about his travels, maybe even a few tales about his deal and possible friendship with Rumplestiltskin. And maybe he helps her heal a bit.
That scene in 4x12 where Belle and Hook talk about Rumple really rubbed me the wrong way. What Rumple did to Belle and, yes, even Hook, was awful, but Hook never had to answer for his part in Rumple's decline. What did he think would happen if he threatened to blackmail him with Belle of all people?
Not to mention, Belle and Grace would have gotten along so well.
Tumblr media
At this point in the series, Grace is a young teenager, and could possibly use a female presence. She like Henry, would probably understand that her father needs more companionship and would support their relationship. And it would be great foreshadowing to Belle's own relationship with her child later on. And Belle LOVES kids and could have formed a very promising bond with Grace. Regardless on how her relationship with Jefferson could have ended, Belle would have this girl over for sleepovers every week.

What are your opinions on both Book!Rhaenyra and Show!Rhaenyra.
😬 Welp obviously unpopular opinions coming through:
Book!Rhaenyra is incredibly entitled, self-centered, and narcissistic. She literally is what happens when you are never told no and essentially every whim is indulged and handed to you on a silver tray.
I know some people have said that her depiction is borderline misogynistic in the books(Maegor with tits), but if you look at real-life monarchs(who come from empires built on colonialism and slavery), even to this day, they are not nice people so I’d say her characterization isn't exactly an unfair depiction.
Of course, people always like to point out that Rhaenyra did not start off bad(she was the realms Delight and beloved by the people). She was just stressed from losing nearly all of her kids. She snapped like any of us would do. She’s actually the true victim of the Dance.
I’ll grant her supporters the first part, but the subsequent arguments🙃 Rhaenyra started acting, um how should I say, in a questionable manner long before she started losing her children. People always leave out how she ordered Daemon to chop off Ser Vaemond’s head and feed it to her piss-colored dragon for daring to speak the truth. Unlike in the show, this happened three years before the events of the Dance when she was mentally sound.
Yes, you could make the point that it was technically done to protect her children(and herself), but then you can also argue that if she really wanted to protect her children she would not have had such obvious bastards(I’ve seen people try to argue that they aren’t bastards in the books because they’ve got Baratheon and Arryn ancestry, which is dumb as hell because they have features that don’t come from either house) in the first place.
Plus it’s not as if her children would be killed if they were acknowledged as bastards. They’d still be alive albeit out of the running for the Iron Throne. Of course that would have probably taken her out of the running as well so murder and cutting out the tongues to silence those who state the obvious to be queen someday it is😄
Honestly, I feel like she’s a dumber duller version of Cersei(and that’s saying something because while entertaining she is pretty idiotic). Rhaenyra is not very charismatic and she’s a hypocrite(bastard hater while having bastards herself) and a racist(and once again stress isn’t a “good” reason for racism so if you feel that way 🙃). I’ll keep it cute and leave it there, but in my humble opinion, there is nothing about her that is really likable.
Show! Rhaenyra is boring. She started out fine and we could see some of book! Rhaenyra's arrogance that fuels her fire and drive, but when they switched actors in episode six she became lifeless.
We see a little of that fire return during the scene where everyone is gathered in the Great Hall of Driftmark and Rhaenyra suggests for Aemond to be questioned, but it once again disappears.
Now I want to be clear, I do not blame Emma for Rhaenyra’s lack of fire. As I said, during the Great Hall scene in episode seven, the fire was present. However, production so far seems hell-bent on making her into this sympathetic heroine of sorts which is why it has disappeared.
They are setting her up to be this wronged woman who the patriarchy wore down even though that simply isn’t the whole truth. Before this show even though people felt like she was the rightful heir, no one saw her as this hero who had a heart of gold. They recognized that she wasn't a very likable person while still acknowledging how she was wronged in some way.
Now you have people who act like she never did anything wrong(some of the people behind HOTD included). That she is the unquestionable hero and a kindhearted person who was destroyed by the war when that's simply not the case. I don’t find it cute how they are trying to redeem a racist sociopath in the name of supposed “feminism”(all while tearing down and stripping every other woman character of her characterization🙃).
I will say that even though they’ve whitewashed her, she still doesn’t come off as sympathetic to me. You can see moments of her arrogance. It’s not as vicious as in the books(I.e. chopping off Ser Vaemond’s head and feeding it to Syrax), but it’s still there like during episode seven and when she was taunting Daemon right before she got choked out by him in the finale.
Going forward, I hope the show brings in more of her book personality because she’s not very entertaining to watch.

There's another 3-day "stuff your Kindle" promotion going on where a bunch of books are free right now, link to the master list here~
Some notable mentions:
Favor by Kiki Clark - Book one in a trilogy. I own both available books in this series and the third one comes out next week. I'll be honest, it's been a while since I've read this, so I can't give you specifics, but Kiki Clark is one of those authors I trust enough to grab their stuff immediately.
In The Shadows by Hailey Turner - Book #3 in a 6-part series. Not sure why book 3 is free instead of book 1 but I will tell you that the whole series is on KU and it's pretty cool. Good X-Men vibes if the X-Men were a branch of law enforcement. I own the whole series in paperback. HT is heavy on the plot but she also throws some casual kink into her sex scenes. Alexei is one of my favorite characters and this is his romance. It feature a good couple'a tropes that I'm a sucker for. [HIGHLY recommend the audiobooks, too, if anyone is interested. I found this series through Audible.]
Lost Touch by Eliot Grayson - The 7th book in the series, but can be read as a stand-alone. A lot of books in the series aren't really connected, or only tangentially connected. Another series I own the paperbacks for. I read this book while DEEP in my depression state, though, so I remember almost nothing about it but EG is another author I automatically grab. [In case you're wondering, my favorite of the series is the one just before this, Lost & Bound. Only free if you have KU, though.]
Lacuna by N.R. Walker - I have not read this book, but I do know the author and I tend to like their stories. I'm looking forward to this one since it has fantasy elements. Most of NRW's stuff is contemporary, and the works I've read by them are among those.
Drive Me Crazy by Beth Bolden - I have read this one, it's decent if you want something that's a quick read. BB has a couple of different food-related series that are interconnected so there are mentions of other couples but I didn't have a problem following it without having read the others. [Sweet As Pie is another BB title and a better read imo but it's only free if you have KU.]
The Wrangler & the Orphan by Jackie North -- JN has another series called Love Across Time. I've read most of that series and own it in paperback. I haven't read this series, so I can't vouch for it, but the other one was pretty good.
Here are some authors on the list that are hit or miss for me, but fair warning, I haven't read any of the titles:
Professor Daddy by Nora Phoenix -- I own this one, but I don't seem to remember it? Maybe if I re-read it, idk. NP is technically a good writer, I just think they infodump too much sometimes and I find myself glazing a lot. I like books that I'm invested in emotionally and I don't find myself too invested in NP's stuff.
King of Askara by Victoria Sue - I own things by VS but some of their stuff is objectively terrible. I haven't read this title, I don't know which it will turn out to be.
Out of the Frying Pan by Elouise East - I have this ongoing probably where I know I've read things by Elouise East because the name is familiar but I can't for the life of me remember the title or if I liked it. I'm guessing they're somewhere in the middle re: writing, because if it was terrible, I'd remember it.
The Problem by Piper Scott -- They also write under Emma Alcott and I own all of EA's books in paperback. I also own all of Forbidden Desires (y'know, that dragon-shifter series I talked about a while ago) in paperback.
I cannot vouch for any other Piper Scott titles, but I do know that everything where her co-author is Susi Hawke is objectively terrible.

I like to think that Julia and Damien were friends that previously to the reboot and had a big falling out!! even though they only had one scene together (technically two,, finale) I just think their personalities would mesh well together :3
this oneshot is set during the party after the finale! bowie and priya both hosted it together since they’re the winner/runner ups!
Comfort.
“Okayy, I’m here for the party, buttknuckles!”
Julia exclaims as she steps in, the group of former contestants turning to her with mixed reactions. Chase ran up to her and gave her a high five, gladly welcoming her in. “Heyy, Julia! It’s good to see you made it! Oh- you should try the cake! It’s suuuuper good!” The dark brunet laughs, taking another piece of cake from the table, scarfing it down as he goes over to Ripper.
MK, the kleptomaniac, gave her a half glance turned glare, before returning to sipping on her soda.
Wayne and Raj greeted her as well, the former more welcoming than the latter, since he didn’t have a boyfriend who didn’t hate her guts yet. “Yooo, Jules! You made it! I was just telling Raj that I was getting worried about you, come on!” The dirty blonde led her to the large table with a clean white table cloth draped over it, with dozens of plates of food on it. Wow, they really wanted to celebrate this much over the several grueling weeks they all had shared together. In a way, she found it cute, in the other, she just saw it as free food.
Sure, she would have preferred to win the money, but free food is fine, she supposed.
Julia was about to take a small bowl of cut up mango, before an arm stopped her. “Nuh uh, no way I’m letting you in here.” Bowie’s voice sounded stern, and annoyed at the same time. “This is a No-Julia party from here on out,” He crossed his arms, looking down at the influencer with a raised eyebrow, his eyes narrowing slightly.
“Uhm. Hello? This is a party for every contestant, buttknuckle. I don’t know if that finale gave you brain damage, but I was one of them!”
“You’re insufferable and such a liar- I can guarantee you that almost nobody wants you here!”
“It was for the game, what, have you never even seen a show like Total Drama before? And don’t act like you weren’t fake too, you voted off Chase and lied to Emma’s face! Who would do such a thing to their best friend- oh right, you.”
That, got the attention of Emma, who at this point had been talking to Damien, the both of them were too engrossed in their conversation to even notice what was going on. In the corner of her eye, she saw the two turn toward the chaos at the table.
“You little..”
Julia watched as her arch-enemy winced, while his boyfriend put a hand on his shoulder, and he grumbled.
“You’re still more fake than me.. but I guess you can stay. Only because some people here actually like you, but also because it’s Priya’s party too.” Julia’s purple-grey eyes briefly shifted to Wayne’s, then briefly over to Damien, to whom avoided her gaze. As she expected.
“Thank you.”
She smiled at Bowie sweetly, before taking her bowl of chopped up mango, and the party slowly resumed to what it was before. The music was bumping loudly in the large room, the disco floor lighting up the room brightly, while some of the boys played video games on the big tv screen.
Time went by, and things got sort of overwhelming for Julia, in a way. Don’t get her wrong, she likes parties — she danced a lot in the first hour of the party— but after everything that happened before joining the show, her father and the Internet basically isolating her,, yeah, this party was bound to be overwhelming. She stood next to the wall, leaning against it as she surveyed her peers in the room, her eyes slightly narrowed.
“Okay, Julia.. you got this. It’s just a stupid party with all these stupid buttknuckles.” She took a shallow breath in, and let it out quietly. She ate her fruit in peace, growing more uncomfortable by the minute. She had been here for two hours at this point, and the party had yet to show signs of stopping.
She was Julia Holland, the girl of the hour. The biggest villain of the season. The girl who powered her way to fourth place, and could have won if she never pointed out the damn coins in that pond. A stupid party really shouldn’t make her feel awful, it shouldn’t.
But unfortunately, it was.
So, she decided to step outside for just a moment, to let all her frustration out. Julia put her bowl of fruit on the table, and walked out the door without anybody noticing. She was just tired of everything that’s been happening these past few weeks. Losing all her followers, getting exposed on international TV— getting thrown into a pit of firey bees or whatever that was, but the quips MK, Bowie, Emma and the rest of the cast threw her way never bothered her. At least, almost never bothered her. She guessed she never did that well in overwhelming situations like this.
There was this time where her father tried to get her to make friends with girls her age. It normally either ended up with a fight, or the other girl crying. Sometimes both — but in her opinion they absolutely deserved it.
Then there was the birthday parties her mother embarrassed her at. God, that struck her young, fragile ego hard.
Soon, she felt a few drops of rain hit her face, snapping her out of her thoughts of the past.
Oh, buttknuckles.
Damien watched the other teens play video games on the big screen, causally sipping on a soda, MK right by his side. While Chase and Ripper were busy fighting and yelling at each other, he looked around the party a bit.
Zee was telling Caleb and Nichelle a story, likely on how he lost his leg.
Scary Girl was standing in the corner making a skull out of a random assortment of food from the main table. Weird.. and scary…
Emma was talking to Wayne and Axel. Probably complaining about Bow- oh no no, she was smiling. All was good, then. Probably
Raj was talking to Bowie, like the cool gay nerds they were. He couldn’t deny that they were cute, even if he himself wasn’t really into all that lovey-dovey stuff.
He saw everyone, except for Julia.
He turned to MK, his right eyebrow gently raised in curiosity. “Hey, MK- have you seen Julia? She’s like, gone. Do you think she’s okay?” He heard MK laugh, which was fair.
“Yeah, no. I don’t care about Julia. She probably thought she was better than some crummy party. Besides, why do you care about Julia of all people? What, you like her or something?”
“What? No, gross! I’m not into romance or anything like that.” Damien’s eyebrows furrowed briefly, before he answered MK’s previous question. “I care because - ah, I don’t know .. sure, Julia isn’t the greatest person ever, but she’s still a person.”
“Influencers aren’t people. Julia definitely isn’t, let’s face it Damien.” MK said, only turning away when the TV said ‘PIZZACHASER WON!’, the two of them watching Chase cheer loudly while Ripper started to scream as if his kidneys had been ripped out of his body. Damien cringed at the sudden loud noise, glancing at MK to realize she had magically put on a pair of soundproof headphones. Damn, he could really use those right now. Oh whatever.
He walked away from the loud noise, rolling his eyes as he held his drink close to his chest, looking down at the floor. Soon, he bumped into somebody.
“Oh! Crap, I am so sorry-“ He looked up, seeing that he had spilled some of his soda on Raj. He turned, and so did Bowie and Priya- (Priya? When did she get here?), the hockey player looking at him with a smile and apologetic eyes. “Oh- don’t worry Damien! It happens all the time to me and Wayne-“
“Wayne and I.” Bowie and Priya briefly cut in at the same time.
“Same thing, guys!” Raj giggled, wiping some of the soda into his shirt by accident as he tried to get it off. “Ah shoot..” Damien heard him mumble, and stared at him for a second with concern, before brushing it off as he asked his question. “Have you seen Julia? Like, since the party actually started..” Raj blinked at him blankly, before glancing back at Priya and Bowie, and Millie who just appeared next to them. “Uhh… no? I mean I saw her likeee… I don’t know! I saw her after we played Just Dance and it looked like she wasn’t having a good time, which kinda sucks. It’s a party, you know?” Damien simply nodded, looking over at the front door.
“I’ll be back, I’m just gonna get some fresh air, it’s too loud.” He laughed lightly, and walked out of the door.
He walked onto the porch, closing the door behind him. In front of him, he saw a blonde with her head in her hands, shaking from the cold as the sky rained down on her. “Julia?” He asked, walking over to her slowly, sitting down next to his old friend on the staircase, the rain gently beating down on the two. He set his soda down next to him, his gaze focused on the weeping blonde. “..Jules?” He asked quietly, his eyebrows knit together in concern.
The quiet cries of the girl stopped as soon as he put his hand onto her shoulder, and he quickly pulled it away. She lifted her face from her hands, and there he saw the mess of makeup on her face. Her mascara was running down her face, and her lipstick was slightly smudged.
“What, are you gonna make fun of me, Damien?” She glared at him, a small sniffle coming from her. “This is so embarrassing.” She grumbled, the man hummed lowly, “What? I wasn’t gonna make fun of you, I’m not like MK or Bowie.” He said as he took off his yellow hat.
“Not yet.”
“Not ever, Jules. You know that.” He took off his jacket, draping it over Julia’s shoulders.
“No, I don’t!” Julia raised her voice, snapping at him, sitting up straight as the rain danced on the pair. “I don’t know if you’ll be like them — you should be mad at me, Damien! You have every single right to be mad at me! I don’t understand why you’re not!” She jabbed her index finger into his chest, right where his heart was. “I. don’t. get. you. Why do you suddenly care now?? Why do you care about me crying over some STUPID party?! Why can’t we just leave each other’s lives and move on already??”
“I care because I miss you! I care because I miss our friendship, Julia. I care because I know- deep down inside you, is the girl I once knew when we were kids! I moved on, Jules!” He frowns, looking the blonde right in the eyes, pulling her hand away from his chest. “You're the person who can’t.” He paused, watching her eyes widen before she looked away.
“..I’m sorry, Julia, but I’m telling the truth. I’ve moved on from everything, I’ve got friends, I got accepted into the college I always talked about— I-I even learned that I don’t like romance! And what have you done? Make a fake persona to gain views and popularity.” His brows furrowed once more, but it wasn’t out of concern, it was out of anger. “You .. were never that obsessed with yoga or nature or anything like that. What- what happened to you, Julia?”
“I don’t know what happened to me.” She said in a stern voice, “Ever since we stopped talking, my life has turned to shit, Damien! I tried to contact you but you never responded, not once! So then I tried to fix things with my father, do the meditating crystals and yoga like he always preached about, that sort of bullshit. I made myself something I could do to forget about you.. and then we both signed up for this fucking show, and my whole career I built up for myself vanished in an instant! I lost my followers, my sponsors- my dad’s trust! The million dollars was the only thing I had going for me then.. and then I lost that to those stupid buttknuckles.”
Damien stared at her for a long moment, soaking in the information that she just spilled out to him, actually speechless for once as Julia continued.
“I should have won the million! Not Bowie, not Priya, me!”
“Do you think I wasn’t salty too, Julia? You’re not the only one who lost.”
Julia froze at his cold tone, immediately shutting up. Damien sighed, giving himself a moment to relax.
“..I get it, though. Why you did what you did, I get it. I’m honestly just glad you weren’t actually a hippie granola girl, you know?” Julia looked up at the sky, letting the rain fall onto her face, washing away some of her messy makeup.
“…Yeah.”
A long moment of silence washes over the two, listening to the loud music blaring from inside the building, contrasting with the cold rain.
“I’m.. sorry.. for ruining our friendship.”
Julia says quietly, ashamed that she even had to say sorry in the first place. This was so unlike her. So vulnerable. She let her walls down once since the start of the show, and he doubts she’ll ever do it again.
Damien looked over at his old friend once more, a small smile on his face. “It’s alright, Julia.” He wrapped his arm around her, his yellow hat in his other hand. The two were so engrossed in their little heart to heart, they didn’t even realize that the front door was open. Bowie, Priya, Millie, and a few others were listening and watching this whole scene play out.
“Are you two done?” Bowie asked, his tone slightly annoyed.
Damien cocked his head towards the front door, giving Bowie a mean glare. Bowie’s brows raised slightly, never having seen him so mad before. Besides the finale, that is.
“Oookay, then.. I’ll just leave you two to it.”
The door shut, leaving the two childhood friends alone at last.
“Sorry about that.”
“It’s fine, there’s nothing I can do about it now. If they want to make fun of me, then so what? I don’t care.”
Damien laughed lightly, feeling some nostalgia tug at his heart. “That’s the Julia I know. You never cared about what anybody thought of you. You’re tough, strong..” He trailed off, but only for a moment.
“And you’re my friend, Jules.”
Julia rolled her eyes, “I forgot how cheesy you could be. And whatever, I guess.”
“Yeah, yeah, whatever.” He laughs. “..I’m always here to comfort you, Julia. Like we promised when we were kids.”
The rain slowly stopped as the minutes went by.
Julia let herself smile softly as wrapped her childhood friend’s jacket around her tighter.
Finally, she felt comforted.

Tlh characters/relationships and speak now (Taylor’s version) part two
Haunted
Anna. Anna being in love with Ari for years and using other women as a coping mechanism. Anna thinking her and Ari were together and then finding out about the engagement and feelings betrayed ‘i thought I had you figured out’
Also on a more literal note, Grace to kit (I’m sorry)
Last kiss
Ari and Anna. Like I hear your Grace and kit but no because they weren’t *technically* together when he y’know… HOWEVER anna and ari did literally kiss and then break up with next day and then spend like a year estranged. ‘So I’ll watch your life in pictures like I used to watch you sleep’ it’s giving Anna not letting herself get close to Ari until she’s dying.
Long live
Like all of them? But specifically the merry thieves. ‘And for a moment a band of thieves in ripped up jeans got to rule the world’ with them four being the perfect close knit group (OF LITERAL THEIVES) for YEARS. ‘If you have children someday please tell them my name’ with none of their children being able to meet kit but you know damn well they will know their uncle kit like they know the rest of their uncles. ALSO Emma and Julian literally pointing to their pictures and Tessa telling them their names?? ‘And the cynics were outraged’ with like half the adult population hating their guts
Ours
Lucie to Jesse. The song gives such innocent first love vibes as well as like a serious amount of ‘what the hell is going on’ from outsiders which in the context of the book, it just because Jesse’s like legit come back from the dead. But neither of them care because this love is theirs
Superman
Let’s be so for real rn it’s Thomas about Alastair. ‘Tall dark and beautiful’ like a Persian prince maybe? ‘He’s not at all bad like his reputation’ I mean COME ON Thomas defending him despite his rep because he knows him!
Electric touch
Purely for accuracy it’s lucie and Jesse. ‘This could either break my heart or bring it back to life’ AND SHE LITERALLY BRINGS HIM BACK TO LIFE?!?!! ‘Fill this ghost town up with life’ him being happy for the first time in years and dancing with her and everything while literally BEING A GHOST?!
Also metaphorically Thomastair both ways, for Alastair ‘bringing Thomas back to life’ by seeing through him after Barbara’s death or Thomas ‘bringing Alastair back to life’ by just loving him
When Emma falls in love
Lucie about Cordelia. So like Cordelia but from lucies pov. Cause Cordelia spent most of her childhood falling for James and being incredibly obvious and she’s a queen. And lucie just idolising her, I mean the gal wrote the whole beautiful Cordelia.
I can see you
It’s giving Thomas and Alastair like hanging out in paris and Charles never catching on, and them making out in the sanctuary and will walking in literally 30 seconds later and never knowing and Thomas being in love for years and his closest friends never working it out-but like mainly the sanctuary scene tbh
Castles crumbling
Either James or Matthew. Like James for the clave turning against him (and his entire family) after learning about Belial and Matthew for his whole world upending and him and James fighting and Cordelia realising he’s still drinking and hanging to tell his parents the truth.
Also everyone turning against Grace but no one really like her at first BUT ari being like ‘I can’t believe she lived in my house’
Also maybe Charles?? Like he had the support of the inquisitor, a fiancé, his family’s love, the claves respect and then he lost the family’s respect when he went against the herondales and lost the claves when he came out
Foolish one
Matthew, Thomas, Alastair, Cordelia-I could go on I mean it just fits
Matthew: First Lucie then Cordelia he has a thing for unrequited love and he knows it but he still hoped Cordelia would chose him and she didn’t
Thomas: the man was in love with Alastair for YEARS and had to watch him and Charles be in love for years without knowing the problems within their relationship (but he got his man so there’s that)
Alastair: hoped and hoped that Charles would chose him over his career just once but he never would and ‘I’ll get your longing glances but she’ll get you rings’ and Charles constantly getting engaged HOWEVER ‘the day is gonna come for your confessions of love’ and Thomas’ ‘Keli asheghetam. I love you let me love you’
Cordelia: I could literally copy and paste thomas bit and change the names man
Timeless
Thomas and alastair. They fell in love at the academy (fight me on this) and then again in paris and then again in London and they were vastly different people in all of these places and yet they still found each other. Also history repeats itself (a lightwood falling in love with someone everyone kinda warns them against without realising it and then professing their love in the others first language)

By Invitation Only
When John opens the door to his apartment, he instinctively knows he’s not alone.
Part of it is the subtle undercurrent of his Second Sight, informing him of the slightly raised window sash, the displaced coffee table, and the marks on the rug that weren’t left by his own feet.
Part of it is the smell of blood permeating the air that he knows isn’t coming from him. Most nights, he might not question it, but he was stuck riding a desk tonight while the Harris case is under internal investigation. He’s positive it’ll get cleared up in his favor, he was defending a human who simply ran off before anyone could get their statement to confirm it, but until that staking is ruled justified, he’s out of the field.
The closest he’s been to blood all evening is filling out requisition forms for a new chiller unit for their clinic blood bank.
He draws his stake and moves slowly through the room, past the kitchenette and down the hall, to where a few specks of bright red stop outside the bathroom door.
He opens the door, and Emma looks up from where she’s scrubbing her stained hands in the sink. The mirror is disturbingly blank aside from the flecks of blood.
“It’s not mine.” She nods to the bathtub, where something wrapped in plastic bags is lying. “I was really hoping he was just going to dust on me.”
In retrospect, inviting Emma into his apartment that one time she was running from some vigilantes should probably have told him it wouldn’t be the last time she’d show up here. She’s free to come and go whenever she chooses, now, unless he moves.
“You brought a dead body into my apartment?” John asks, for lack of any other coherent response to the situation.
“Technically, two.” Emma gestures vaguely to herself, adding water and soap splatter to the blood speckling her scarlet blouse.
John doesn’t dignify that correction with a response.
“What do you expect me to do with it?”
“Nothing. I just couldn’t deal with him before sunrise, so I’m going to have to wait until sundown. Then I’ll dispose of him.” She shrugs. “I staked him and cut off the head for good measure. He’s not going to wake up on you.”
“You can’t just stash bodies in my apartment!”
“I’d have taken him back to the club, but I don’t have a car, and getting in a cab with a decapitated corpse tends to raise a few too many questions. Your place was closer.”
John doesn’t even want to ask what Emma is doing on this side of town, well outside her own turf.
“It was him or me,” She says, as if what John is worried about is the legitimacy of her kill. Apparently, old hunter habits die hard. “He brought a human host into my club, then bolted when I confronted him. By the time I finally caught up to him, he’d decided it would be in his best interests to get rid of me before I got him in trouble. Probably the only reason I did catch up to him. He was doubling back to get rid of me once he made it onto his coven’s turf.”
“And you couldn’t just leave his body laying around for the rest of his coven to find.” John is finally starting to understand the circumstances to this bizarre end to his night.
“Exactly. I didn’t leave any ties to myself at the scene, the stake is still in him, but he had the Luna’s stamp on his wrist. It wouldn’t have been hard for his coven to retrace his steps and find out I’d tracked him onto their turf and killed him.”
Technically, by vampire standards, she’s in the wrong.
But in hunter books, keeping a human host is a far more serious crime than crossing boundary lines.
John won’t be writing this up any time soon.
He pushes aside the shower curtain to inspect the body, just in case it’s someone tied to any open Chimera investigations. He doesn’t recognize the curly black hair or the puckered scar on the decaying cheek.
Emma keeps telling him she’s left the hunter world behind for good, but the stake in the vampire’s chest is newly made and the kind of quality Chimera always expects from its employees. Sure, plenty of vampires are known to kill their own kind in turf disputes and squabbles, but most go for means that display their strength. Throats torn out that leave victims to bleed into a coma, heads severed and sometimes kept as trophies. Hearts impaled with anything from twisted-off rebar to combat knives.
Vampires who use wooden stakes are few and far between. It’s considered a hunters’ weapon.
He grimaces and rewraps the plastic around the body. He really hopes none of the other building tenants complain to the landlord about smells until this body is gone.
They will if it stays in here all day.
“I’ll deal with him, Em.” John says. “I’ll just tell the crematory people to keep it on the down low because technically I’m not supposed to be on active duty.” The stake kill will certainly sell his story.
“You don’t have to.”
“I do if I don’t want my landlord busting in with the third complaint this month.” Okay, so he probably could have avoided the noise one, but it’s a crime to play Metallica on low volume. Apparently, it’s also a crime to play it on high.
He glances at Emma. “You hurt?”
“Not this time.” Emma holds up her now-washed hands and arms, showing the lack of any damage.
“There’s a clean t-shirt and sweatpants that should fit you in the guest room. Along with most of the rest of my laundry.” So sue him, he hates folding and never has anyone staying over. “I know you can’t sleep without your home earth, but I can pick some up on my way back from the crematorium. And some synth-blood.”
“I really don’t need all that. Just somewhere to lie low until the sun goes down.”
“My momma would have my hide if she thought I wasn’t treating my guests right.”
“She might also have your hide for inviting a vampire into your living space.”
John shrugs. “What she doesn’t know won’t hurt her.”
He looks into the stained bathtub at the body. No way is he carrying this thing through the halls and down the stairs, or risking getting stuck with it in the temperamental elevator.
Apparently, this guy’s going out the way he came.
Down the fire escape.
Well, as far as mornings go, this is only the third weirdest he can remember…

A Sign Of Affection Episode 5 Review - THAT HAND KISS
Yuki and Itsuomi are so cute together. A majority of the episode is just them getting to know each other and I was still entertained by it! I just like how the romance between them doesn’t have to be comical or extravagant. It could just be calm and chill and I’ll still get diabetes from it. Also, I’m surprised they ate a whole box of Costco pizza.
Tumblr media
While Kyouya is a bit worried about the progression between Itsuomi and Yuki’s relationship, I don’t think Itsuomi is a bad person. He’s a bit touchy, but nothing he has done warrants red flags. He’s rather genuine in a way. Kyouya is worried about Yuki because she’s cute; the way he said that guys have this urge to keep cute girls to themselves sort of makes sense? I’m not a man, but I do see why they’re drawn towards cute girls. I can’t really explain it well because I’m speaking from an outside perspective. Well, there’s no denying Yuki is cute, but I feel like Itsuomi is drawn towards her because she’s someone different that he had expected. To be honest, when he had kissed her hand, that came out of left field and I legit gasped and covered my hand. I didn’t expect that scene at all. It clearly shows that Itsuomi does seem to have special feelings for her; Rin even says that his voice when talking to her is affectionate and much different when talking to other girls.
I like that we learn a few more things about both leads. Itsuomi has family in Germany and that he has a very young sister who’s elementary school age. He’s also 22 years old, but he’s still an undergraduate as he’s a second year going onto third year soon. The reason why he’s older than his peers is because of his working holidays that made him take breaks from school. This makes them three years apart as Yuki is 19. In Yuki’s case, Itsuomi and we, the viewers, learn that Yuki’s family doesn’t know sign language and they communicate by other methods like lip reading, writing, gestures, etc. She also reveals that she has a voice, but doesn’t use it because she had been told it sounded weird in the past. This got to me because I understand how she feels. I was teased about my voice when I was younger, and I had a huge complex about it growing up. Right now, I’m accepting of my own voice, but if there’s something I will never do, that is making fun of another’s voice. Whoever made fun of Yuki’s voice needs to get karma splashed onto them.
There’s also a bit of conflict sprinkled in with Emma. She tries to assert her dominance towards Yuki but she doesn’t know her “rival” is deaf. It also seems that Shin likes Emma but she only has eyes for Itsuomi. This weird love square needs to be a bit emphasized more in future episodes because I don’t know why Emma likes Itsuomi and why Shin likes her. There’s also a scene with Oushi and the blonde girl with the Pomeranian. Is that Oushi’s possible love interest if things doesn’t work out with Yuki? I don’t even know this girl’s name or what her relationship with Oushi technically is.
I really liked the progression between the two in this episode. I just hope nothing bad happens next episode. I really love the sweet and soft aura of this show, so please keep it like that! What are your thoughts?

Personal headcannon: Ran has good intuition or is good at reading people.
(TW: r*pe, de*th, spoilers)
Here are the reasons why I think this is so.
(A) The person he admires is Kakucho, a very good, nice, loyal human and the person who won the best boyfriend award in Tenjiku.
The people he dislikes are Kisaki and Hanma. Not Mucho or Izana who are known to be vicious, not Shion who boasts but could not deliver. He dislikes Kisaki and Hanma and unless something happened behind the scenes, I believe this is because he knows there is fundamentally wrong with those two. I mean, both staged with the rape of one civilian (i.e., Pah’s buddy’s girlfriend) and the death of another (i.e., Emma) — and both women at that.
Assuming that Ran did not know about the rape, then the only thing he could use as reference would be Emma’s death. Now, I think that these could mean at least one of the three following things: (1) he has a code of honor to not involve civilians in gang wars like Draken, (2) he respects women, or (3) he took killing one’s sibling to hurt an older brother VERY personally.
Maybe if he thinks that if Kisaki and Hanma are fine with these, then there is nothing off the table for them. As we see in Kisaki’s future timelines, this is actually the case.
(B) He was able to discern in a few moments that Angry may not be as weak as they thought he would be. That is why he warned Rindou.
Actually, these are my only proofs or references from the manga 😂 But sometimes, I cannot help but wonder if this intuition is something he honed as an older brother. He is only a year older than Rindou but I would like to believe that he takes his responsibility as an older sibling very seriously. So he has to hone his survival skills because Rindou relies on him, too. He needs to learn how to read people and figure the situation out to ensure his and Rindou’s safety.
I believe that that is the reason why he did not engage Mitsuya anymore. Although technically, Kanto Manji Gang has the upper hand, he may have felt that something was about to happen. And should the train not have been stopped, a mass murder could have happened. And that would end up in two ways: either they would be harmed, or they would be implicated as suspects.
Maybe that’s why he sleeps a lot as well 😂 He always has to be on guard for him and Rindou when he is awake 🥺

Unicorn Warriors Eternal ep 4
Sooooo... THAT happened.
THat by which was the most screwed up love rectangle/triangle?.... Love mess. Reincarnations man (glad they didn’t go that route with Avatar XD). Point is... okay so its established the Lady Fox/or kitsune is basically the evil they fight, TIME and time again. The fight scenes were good.
Whats getting old is this love mess. I can’t call it a love shape because technically Edred isn’t really after Emma. He wants his Melinda. Emma...is at most confused I think that whole scene was cute and I think she actually felt chemistry which again brings up to point.... since Melinda/Edred are reincarnated TIME and time again... have these two made their carnations (or caused) them to reproduce offspring together? I say that because the last episode clarified it sorta... we only saw “2″ or our three... so it would be correct to assume Edred’s incarnation (unless born a woman) had children with Melinda’s.
Part of me is annoyed with Emma. But I say part, because again the Creator stated that this is focusing on Emma’s arc. Adult me knows that... but also me wants to say “EMMA IF YOU ARE HAVING ANGSTS AT LEAST TALK ABOUT IT”. She’s been vocal about everything else the “I don’t wanna do this”, the “I’ve got two mes”. Fine I get that then just admit to your team that you are afraid to fully use your powers. Edred I get why she’s refraining... but I want to assume she’s on a better familiarity with Seng/Alfie and the robot. Gahhh I feel more would get done if this show was longerXD.
But its minor with Emma so I’m not entirely annoyed... what I’m getting annoyed with is the love mess. I admit the jealous side of Edred was not the most ... I’ll just be honest I hate love drama it ruins a character, so it makes it less enjoyable. Watching Edred/Winston fight over Emma/Melinda was veryyyy annoying and I almost wonder why she didn’t smack them both and go “I’M NOT PROPERTY”
But having said that... I do get why Edred is having trouble accepting this. Like Melinda they’ve been use to just being in control. Their incarnations have never talked back/or their lives never got in the way. So that much I understand... buttttt also Edred yeah you were a little harsh on Emma/Melinda in regards to her powers. And I feel even if that was technically Emma mad, he’s seen that look from Melinda. But again he went about it wrong, instead of actually talking/or apologizing he attempted to flirt with what he thought was his lover.
Then we get to Winston... I’m not gonna lie he’s annoying the hell out of me. Yes, yes, adult me and bigger picture he’s concerned for Emma. But COME ONNNN. That fight was literally over towns there is NO WAY he kept up that long. That was annoyingly cartoonish how he popped up out of no where. “Oh I followed you”... Me: BULLSHIT, you are not that fast and several things almost killed people.
Its not that I hate Winston its just his character does NOTHING for the story or Emma other than going “I love you”.  If I thought he had SOME form of Sherlock Holmes fighting skill then maybe I could let it go. But he’s like reverse damsel in distress. He ALWAYS gets in the way. And like Edred, he’s also pushing Emma. He’s like “LEAVE”, “She can’t fight”. I’m like dude, BIGGER PICTURE GOING ON.
Winston’s character seems to flip/flop in regards to all the crazy shit going on. I admit it was kinda.. racist/or xenophobic(I dunno the PC terms in regards to supernatural creatures) how he kept making fun of Edred for being elf. Yes one could argue he doesn’t believe in magic. But again thats were the flip/flop comes in. If he’s been following Emma since the hospital... then he should have seen the POSSESSED statues, a LITERAL fox lady, his FIANCE and EDRED floating, ALFIE IS LITERALLY FADING AWAY!  What more do you want? The hand of God to slap you and go “Buddy its real, get over it”.
Just haaahh Winston is so literally annoying. I would rather him go “I’ll wait for you”(cause again we don’t know what happens after the incarnations defeat the fox) or get some sense smacked into them that they HAVE to fight. But he literally brings nothing to the table and I’m so tired of him.
And whether Edred likes it. He’s fueled him to follow them more (which I get, again its Emma. Edred/Melinda are just technically spirits). But because Winston literally does NOTHING/and... looking at how he couldn’t even knock down the robot its fair to say he’s useless in a fight. He’s gonna get in the way or worse killed. I don’t want dummy dead, just out of the way 8B. Go and sit tea and wait for her dummy. Her parents are and thats her parents, they want their daughter back but I think that last quote her father said... it meant something. He knew it was something out of their hands.
Anything else.. a part of me wishes the Russian guy did take over Edred for a moment... or that Emma would talk to Alfie. Let her get some sense she’s not completely alone. I get the development will be solely focused on Melinda/Emma ... but it would be nice for the others to have some as well. See the trio bond together. Well four counting the robot.
EXTRA NOTE:: Because I forgot to add this. Whether its Melinda/Edred talking to Emma... I think they all do just need to talk. Admit into their humanity... what to I mean by that... I admit they’ve made mistakes. I admit thats another problem Edred is acting like a teacher. Which isn’t bad... whats bad is that he forgets this isn’t Melinda(fully?o3o). I mean yeah Alfie was as shocked. But Alfie kinda had his own thing(and again Emma isn’t voicing her anxieties, back to focus sorry). Edred and them need to remember that Emma/and probably Alfie(he hasn’t done much yet except make the mistake of trusting that fox plus he’s what I assume a child, .... I think? He was on a rival team against Winston’s ... so how old is he?oO) are not perfect. And although they’ve had CENTURIES of training. I don’t fully believe Edred and Melinda were born naturally gifted. I feel they both made mistakes and they both trained to control their abilities.

If you consider viserys a creep, then I hope you realize Daemon is also one just slightly less so, laena was young when daemon married her and rhaenyra was even younger when to took her too a brothel and kissed her, plus he asked for her hand in marriage, he would have no problem sleeping with rhaenyra if viserys had agreed to marry them. Daemon just has pretty privilege, so people aren't willing to see that his more problematic than viserys
CW for CSA, grooming mentions
Okay so first of all, let me remind everyone that my posts that only talk about Viserys shouldn't be taken to mean anything about completely unrelated characters like Daemon. Now, this post isn't going to be an apology for Daemon, and it shouldn't be taken to excuse his actions. But I will be making the argument that what he's done isn't as bad as what Viserys has done.
In the books, Laena is twenty-three years old when she and Daemon meet for the first time and get married. There's still obviously an age gap, and I personally hate age gaps in real life, but Laena's very much a grown woman here, even by modern standards.
And I've discussed before here that I very much DO think Daemon's treatment of younger Rhaenyra is problematic. As for adult Daemyra, there are a few things that I think are important here:
During the brothel scene, even though Rhaenyra is acting willing, Daemon doesn't have sex with her. Also, Rhaenyra is seventeen. Obviously we rightfully take issue with this, but by Westerosi standards she is technically capable of consent. Again, we know this shouldn't be the case and it doesn't excuse Daemon's actions, but it does provide context for them.
I could make a whole separate post about how Daemon's interest in Rhaenyra as a child wasn't about her, but was entirely about her being an extension of Viserys. Daemon doesn't genuinely want Rhaenyra when he proposes to wed her; he's feeling rejected by Viserys and is trying to get close to him in the only way he knows how.
Daemon then distances himself physically from Rhaenyra, and explicitly says this is because she was a "child," implying that he didn't feel it was right for them to have a relationship and felt that he needed to remove himself from the situation to allow her to grow by herself.
When Daemon and Rhaenyra DO start a relationship, it is when Rhaenyra is twenty-seven years old and unquestionably an adult. And it starts on Rhaenyra's terms. Now, this isn't fully okay, because we know that their dynamics when Rhaenyra was younger impact what she wants as an adult. But I do think this is still significant when comparing him to Viserys.
Finally, Daemon's relationship with Rhaenyra is about as healthy as a Targaryen relationship can get. Rhaenyra maintains the upper hand in every single scene with him-- even in the choking scene, she laughs in his face and he is ultimately rendered impotent in the face of her confidence. Daemon unquestioningly supports Rhaenyra's decision-making skills and her power as a ruler. When she asks him to do something, even if he clearly doesn't want to do it, he always backs down. Daemon obeys Rhaenyra at every turn, never the other way around.
Daemon's relationship with Rhaenyra is obviously still problematic, and Emma D'Arcy has said it counts as grooming, and I won't argue against this because I agree. I also don't think Daemyra should ever be used to excuse these dynamics in real life, ever. But it's not quite comparable to what Viserys did with Aemma and Alicent, for all the reasons outlined above.
TLDR: Viserys raped a 13-year-old girl and a 15-year-old girl, the latter of whom he saw as a daughter. His relationships with both of his wives involved mistreating them and sacrificing their physical safety, comfort, and wishes for his own whims.
Daemon had sex with a 23-year-old woman and a 27-year-old woman, the latter of whom he saw as a niece. His consummated marriages were amicable and he always allowed his wives autonomy, even at the detriment of his own personal desires. You can see how these two things aren't 100% the same, yes?

Glee Musical Retrospective: Like a Virgin (The Power of Madonna)
youtube
Sung by: Rachel Berry, Jesse St. James, Will Schuester, Emma Pillsbury, Finn Hudson, and Santana Lopez (It's a sextet. I wonder if that was intentional.) Original Artist(s): Madonna
Okay guys -- this is kind of a big one. The interesting thing is that, as a stand alone song, I probably enjoy every other song of this episode more. But! This is probably one of my favorite performances of the entire show. Yes - a bold statement. But here's the thing -- Glee usually uses music to shed light on character. This song moves the plot along, and tells the story of these three couples. And it's so. well. done. It's so good.
True, it all ends up being somewhat of a fantasy - but you really get to see the inner struggles of the characters here, and... there are consequences of what happens after.
So. Let's dig in...
Story Analysis & Technical Thoughts
I have a lot of thoughts on this one, so I'm going to have to roll all of it into one...
Let's start with the most obvious angle, because Glee is going to hit a point over the head when they can. The song actually isn't about virgins -- it's about someone feeling discovered for the first time in a new relationship. So, Glee takes it both literally and figuratively. We have our literal virgins in Finn, Rachel, and Emma -- and we have a figurative start of physicality for all of these couples.
I love that Rachel, Finn, and Emma all start the song looking in the mirror. It's a nice way to say that this song is a reflection of reality, as well as non-verbally setting up what each character is thinking. They're all a little nervous going in, but each have their own reason. They don't need a line to express that because the visuals set it up so well.
Also, I love the somewhat ridiculous costuming on Rachel with her little cape. Both she and Emma have more 'innocent' looking nightgowns on, while in contrast - because she's doing the seducing- Santana has on something more revealing and sexualizing.
The choreography of this is really brilliant. How to shoot a sex scene while not really shooting a sex scene and keeping it PG-13. Nothing explicit actually happens nor do even any clothes come off. There isn't really even any kissing. But it's all very charged, and at various points, simulating sex even if it's technically not what they're doing.
Plus, each couple is doing the same choreography -- but the uniqueness of each couple's situation keeps it fresh.
Will and Emma - being the adult couple here - are probably the most explicit of the bunch. Matthew Morrison really pushes all in here -- but, even knowing that Emma doesn't follow through, this is perhaps the most equal pairing here. Will and Emma, emotionally, are on the same page about how they feel for each other - and there's a love there. But of course, Emma has her mental illness on top of it. It's less about where they are more emotionally, and more about Emma facing her own fears. (As a side note - I think it's interesting that Emma will be the last one of these three to lose her virginity - despite being the most mature person in this whole sextet.)
Also, I believe Will and Emma have the most screen time as well. I wonder if that was a network note because they were the adults? Interesting.
Anyway, then we have Rachel and Jesse - which, I don't have a whole lot to say about. Not only do they have the least amount of screen time, but we barely see anything from Jesse's POV. We get conflicted Rachel, but unlike the other two, not much exploration - which I find interesting, too. I wonder if it's partly to keep it ambiguous and partly because there's more going on with the other two couples. I will say there's something interesting about how Rachel always wants to push forward with things, even when they scare her. And sex is no different.
I do think she cares about Jesse. But there's a multitude of things going on. She is fifteen and this is the most physical any boy has been with her. That's exhilarating and also frightening. There's the idea of status -- as if not being a virgin is somehow going to define her differently in her teen world. And then there's the complicated notion that it's not Finn whom she's losing her virginity to. And while I roll my eyes that all these teen shows wanting their main character to hold out on sex for their one true love, it is apart of her story here.
And then there's Finn and Santana. This is the aspect I find most fascinating here. Because they not only flipped the script here by having a female be the seducer, but Finn is the most nervous about this. Because he doesn't care about Santana and is here for only the sex. And - kudos to Cory Monteith's acting because he stays scared the whole way through. Both Will and Emma and Rachel and Jesse have moments of tenderness in the song. Finn and Santana don't. Because it is only about sex. And while not in the song, I love that at the end of the day - he is the one who may have lost his virginity, but he's the least satisfied with his decision.
Also, can we talk about Santana's stand out line where she sings ' you make me feel like a virgin'. While I don't think she got much of anything out of this encounter. We do later learn that Santana was grateful that Finn was kind to her during this experience. Yes, she has some dark motivations for doing all of this. But she doesn't end up being completely used in the way that probably most of her sexual experiences have gone up until this point.
Which... leads me to an interesting aspect I want to talk about with the set decorations. Finn and Santana are in a (probably crappy) motel - with a noticeable red light coming in. A lot of the room has red decorations as well. And is probably a nod to the whole 'red light district' thing. And signifies that this encounter is the most sexual based of the three.
Interestingly, I noticed that Rachel's bed has a red blanket hanging on it - that gives that little red nod into the dressing, too. Intentional? Maybe? But also maybe suggestive that this relationship is walking on that line that it might be about just sex or might be something more. There isn't any red in Will's bedroom (I looked!) - hence this is couple has the most emotional grounding when it comes to sex.
It's a nice detail if they did that intentionally.
Okay, so I know I didn't really get into the lyrics all that much, but I feel like Glee kind of visually demonstrates the lyrics pretty literally here.
There's a line about feeling sad until your partner comes around and makes you feel good again. Close in on Rachel and Emma having strong feelings about their partners after feeling down and out.
A line about hearts beating next to each other? Close in on the couples as they embrace each other tightly, heads near hearts.
Line about feeling bold and strong - look at Emma having fun with the sexy times.
Glee is still Glee -- and it's still going to be as obvious as possible when it can.
I don't have a ton to say about the vocals either. Everyone sounds great! It's nice to have have a group song where you can hear everyone clearly, and not have a million back up singers in the background. It's nice that we get to really hear Naya's voice, too, she stands out but in a good way, as it's a fresh sound.
I think I want to wrap up contrasting this to Vogue. Both numbers are really great, look great, sound great. But Vogue is a set piece meant to be an isolated spectacle. Like a Virgin is very grounded in the story -- and even as a fantasy, each of these stories are going to continue on. This may not have been exactly what happened, but we can get the gist of what happened through the song, and there are consequences. On top of that, and unlike Vogue, Glee isn't trying to force this song into some kind of reality -- maybe it's in their brains because Sue is blasting Madonna all day long -- but no one in reality sings this song.
And that's okay! This is how this episode changes how Glee does music. I think, unfortunately, they're going to pull a Vogue more often than Like a Virgin, but in both cases, it's wildly different than how Glee was using music before. And, honestly, I kind of love it. But kind of love the unrealistic fun absurdity of it.
vs. The Studio Version : There's about a minute of added music - which is mostly bridge and a repeated chorus featuring Santana and Finn (which is kind of cool - I don't know if I've ever listened to the studio version of this).
vs. The Original Version: I mean, this is one of Madonna's most famous songs, and has a really iconic opening now that I think of it. I had forgotten that 80s synth sound -- but here it is in all its glory. Glee is very good at keeping the original arrangement - but really strips away the 80s sound, which isn't a bad thing as it wanted to be a modern interpretation. I only have on question - why the lion?

TOKYO REVENGERS SEASON 3 EP 2
Spoilers for anime only
They're really just throwing Sanzu everywhere they can
As a manga reader this makes me laugh so hard (I know, I know, anime only aren't going to catch that but it still screams 'LOOK! Look at him! He's here!'). It's still very much Mucho the focus of each frame, but Sanzu is always always in the corner
Tumblr media
I. You know what, sure
Continuity error but sure
Tumblr media
Naoto's plan of action at any minor inconvenience (technically they arent minor but shhhh): Kill.
Then again, this is the Naoto who shot Mikey dead. He wouldn't care. Specially not if it's Kisaki
Tumblr media
I love Takemichi's shirts sm. They mean everything to me
Tumblr media
Noticed Chifuyu and Hakkai !(plus, obvious Izana, Mikey etc)
Tumblr media
*look at his dyed blue hair* I sure wonder who that churchgoer is
Tumblr media
HELL YEAH HE WAS
– kinda sad they made the whole uniform black and not with some gold like Toman's is
Tumblr media
Hell yeah he had..
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Well, you see, next week Emma will tell you—
.
Almost looks like they gave Koko eyeliner. But they didn't. Had my hopes up for nothing. Also, him saying "still a man stuck in the past" to refer to Taiju as if he himself wasn't–
.
I like the addition they made of having Kakucho flinch when Takemichi calls him – it does show his unwillingness to kill people. And also. The fact he prioritizes Izana and Izana's orders to his own morals. In the manga, it was more as if Kakucho, after years of doing exactly that, became rlly good at not showing he cared about it (even tho Kakucho is not someone to abandon his morals – even if he neglects them for Izana
.
Tumblr media
This made me laugh out loud. Like yeah. Make the anime only think Kisaki is a time leaper even more. Even more than manga readers back then. Go on
+ they really went off with the budget. Taiju's aquariums (and I'm sooooo glad they animated them well. I started the episode wanting and expecting to see sharks!), Taiju's smoking and Taiju's fighting, MANILA IZANA AND KAKUCHO. And, ofc, Naoto's death scene
Can't wait for next week

Are there romantic moments in Silvio's route? Since he's such a tsundere mess I can't imagine him being sweet😂
He is absolutely a tsundere mess. Probably the worst one I've seen from Cybird...ever.
If you're looking for romantic moments, they're few and far between and probably not as mushy as you'd hope for. Maybe we'll be better rewarded with the romantic end! But they do exist, especially when you start to read between the Silvio lines. The most obvious one is probably the scene I talked about here where Silvio very sweetly fusses over Emma a bit. Earlier in the scene he also leaped out of his seat and freaked out a bit when he thought she'd cut herself.
The only real soft stuff usually happens when he thinks she's not able to see. There's a part where she gets herself drunk in his room and he very carefully lays her out on his sofa and is just kind of stroking her cheeks as she's sleeping and generally silently simping as he wonders what she's dreaming about so happily - only for that all to get ruined when she says Rio's name in her sleep. In the end CG he thought she was asleep in his arms as he lay there stroking her hair and admitting aloud how cute she is and how he's totally gone on her. (hint: she was not actually asleep and he wanted to die upon discovering this) Badly wanting to cuddle her but only knowing how to by bullying her into it.
But mostly his brand of affection is shown in smaller ways. Going from taking her out to an exceedingly fancy dinner that made her uncomfortable to taking her out to a local sort of dive bar and dressing down, somewhere a commoner would feel more at ease. Choosing the place because he heard they had good desserts and women like those right???
Buying her new clothes so she fits in a the auction house better. Blushing at how pretty she looks when she's smiling happily in the rose garden. Secretly adoring her food, even if he tsundere has to say it's okay - but refusing to let anyone take it and wanting to eat any dish she makes (and also jealously guarding the food or her feeding anyone else, Carlo you almost didn't get dinner).
Freaking out when he hears she's out with Keith and probably in danger, and rescuing her from that. Freaking out when he hears she's been taken and walking right out of the middle of everyone greeting his father's arrival in Rhodolite, spending his money and time and effort tracking her down and rescuing him herself. Freaking out when...well, pretty much any time she's even remotely in harm's way.
Offering her advice and help and insight in the ways that he can with his hands tied as they are (which is one of my favorite things of the route). He knows she Belle, she knows he knows she's Belle, but neither of them can admit it for their own reasons. Hers being obvious, and his being that he has to maintain plausible deniability basically so he can continue to not obey his father's commands. Rather, he'll come to her and say something like....the situation is X right now. If I were Belle, I'd consider something like Y or Z... And she'll say GOOD IDEA, er...if I were Belle or something that is.
Yeeting the both of them out of the castle with practically nothing but the clothes on their backs, knowing full well he's potentially giving up everything for her - his position as prince, probably even his life, all because he can't stomach her having to shoulder all this political disaster alone and can't forget how she'd seemed to have so much faith in him. Finally opening up for the first time to anyone and confiding in her how insecure he feels about himself AND ASKING HER HELP AND SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO MAKE HIMSELF A BETTER PERSON. Admitting that saving a tiny country like Rhodolite technically makes no political or economical sense but he can't NOT do so...simply because he likes it and because she does. Because sometimes business can be personal. Because it's the right thing to do...and because the most important thing to him is her smile.
