Hi! I played your game and really, really like it, I am a huge fan of slow burn - combined with Yandere too? That's kinda rare nowadays, haha. Thanks for making it and creating Mychael, I love his design. Two questions: How many days are planned to be playable in the full release?
And
Since in just one day Mychael feels very friendly towards us (according to a post you made with where his feelings are based on a meter) does that mean he's very clingy??? Like, in just one day he feels like our friend. What little effort and words will it take for him to go from crush, to love, to whatever yandere thing he might be??? Like, is he okay??? Should I be worried???
Tumblr media
This guy? Clingy? Nahhh. Nothing to worry about, anon :-) 🍄❤️
As for the game, long (!!!) answer below cut: might be spoiler-y might be not.
For context, here's the post mentioned above.
I'm still not sure how many days it will be, but it's definitely ranging between 4-5 days. Granted it'll be a while before the game is finished finished but I think progress will pick up as I complete assets that will be reused. I'm writing Days 2, 3 and 4 simultaneously (anyone who writes can probably relate to wanting a specific thing to happen in the story but dread writing up to it, so I skip around in order to keep my motivation and interest up)
As for relationship progression, slow burn usually means a long time passes before anything develops. But this is a VN and I'm a solo part-time dev so the scope still has to be small 😔 That said!
Mychael, as a person, is quite solitary in nature; he likes being alone and you'll find out why. He does however desire company and he's only realized just how pleasant having someone around can be (hence his reaction for the Bad Endings in Day 1 if you wish to leave/run away)
Although I'm not a fan of the 'you do one (1) nice thing any decent person would do and yandere is already head-over-heels for you' trope, I do have to make use of it but, drip-feed style? You grow closer to Mychael as you hang out with him and do little things that he appreciates. (Honestly I just realized I'm describing the typical visual novel experience just without the yandere beginning-- go! figure!!! /lh)
Example: the first thing that boosts you to immediate friend status is your willingness to accept his physical looks, something that's never happened to him before. (I know my artstyle makes him a yassified pretty boy but imagine genuinely meeting a sentient creature in real life with patchy green skin, a dextrous tail and four blinking pitch black eyes, I think I'd freak too haha) Little things like that mean a lot to him and motivates him to prolong your stay.
In a way, the MC is written to be more kinder and open-minded (at least outside of Bad Ends) than the sweet/sour personalities that come in a VN, so (for narrative AND coding purposes) I can't really diversify it much. I hope that's okay ¯\_(; v ; )_/¯ If Mychael met a more grouchy/mean MC on Day 1 he'd probably not be as attached. He'd just save you, feed you and send you home when you ask hahaha. Of course this will change as he gets to know you better, at that stage he'll be willing to overlook your flaws like any upstanding yandere
Phew this was a lot to dump in an ask but I did wanna explain my vision for the game! I enjoy yandere VNs as an escape fantasy, but it's common they start out with the yan already being invested in you or fall for you too fast!!! if that makes sense. I'm interested in yanderes in the aspect of how love (romantic or otherwise) starts from innocent affection and spirals into dark obsession!!! It's also compelling as to why a character is so devoted to someone, in this situation the MC, and I wanna write the kind of person Mychael would fall for. And personally 'love-at-first-sight' as a reason just doesn't do it for me 💔
(Disclaimer!!! I'm not saying my game is any more original or better than the other wonderful yan VNs in the works, but hopefully with Mychael as a character I can deliver that 'slow-burn-and-yearn' storyline I'd like it to be. As my itchio profile says: I make games I thirst for in secret but are sadly lacking around the internet 💔 )
Thank you for the ask!! :-D

Taste Like Venom ~ Simon "Ghost" Riley Part 3
Pairing: Ghost x assassin!reader (fem!reader, no use of y/n, callsign “Hex”)
Word Count: 3.7k
CW: angst, violence, blood, strong language, scars, enemies to friends to lovers trope, slow burn, fluff, clear attraction and sexual tension, smut later on, reader POV and ghost POV, minors dni, Soap lives in this AU
Let me know if I missed any CWs.
Story Synopsis: After Makarov gets away once again, Laswell decides to force a favor from you, the world’s greatest assassin and best-kept secret. You are now expected to help the 141 with taking down Makarov in addition to playing nice with them. It’s hard to play nice when you have always worked alone. It doesn’t help that one of the team members, Ghost, gets curious about you in each interaction.
Chapter Synopsis: The great 141 road trip is fine in the beginning, but being on the road for eleven hours clearly gets to everyone, especially you. For once, Ghost tries to show you some genuine compassion without any ulterior motives.
A/N: Thought that this would not only be a fun part to write, but also a breather to get to develop more character dynamics. Feel free to comment what you think each member of the 141 favorite music genre is! Including your own~
Part 1 ~ Part 2 ~ Part 3 ~ Part 4 ~ Part 5 ~ Part 6 ~ Part 7 ~ Part 8 ~ Part 9 ~ Part 10
Tumblr media
Such a long drive was new territory for the boys. They were so used to helicopter rides, armored cars, and jets to take them where they needed to go fast. For their size and stature, the minivan was cramped, slightly rough on the road, and just plain weird. It took a few seat adjustments before everyone was as comfortable as they could be. Save for Gaz. He just prayed that a pit stop was coming soon and someone would be willing to switch seats with him.
For the first hour, the ride was noisy with conversation. Conversation that tried to reel you in. Price, looking through the front windshield, asked you a question. “How do you know where you’re going, Hex?”
“I’ve spent time memorizing road maps around the area. We’re taking a back road. A scenic route. Any other cars on the road would further see this minivan as a family road trip through the country.” You elaborated, your eyes steady on the road ahead. There were a lot of twists and turns on this route, but you knew that it would pay out in the end.
“Hidden in plain sight.” Soap added, his tone showing that he was a bit impressed with the logic of it all. Perhaps you knew what you were doing after all. Without you meaning to or doing anything extraordinary, the group was slowly starting to trust you and your judgment as evidenced by your creative planning. You were becoming quite the leader as well. But, you weren’t completely out of the woods yet. They still kept some of their guards up, just in case.
“There’s a method to the madness. Don’t underestimate the power of assumptions.” You advised, a word of advice that would hopefully stick with them after all of this was over. If they listened, perhaps some problems the world was facing could actually be solved.
Soap pulled out his phone with the intention of making this trip more enjoyable. Making sure that his VPN you required was turned on, he began to browse through songs using his music app. Once he added his favorite songs, he passed it to his captain. “Whatever you want, Cap. No genre limits.”
Price took the phone and rubbed his chin for a second in thought, his brick-brown beard moving with his fingers. Eventually, he added some songs to the playlist. Once he was satisfied, he passed the phone to Gaz who lit up at the idea. “Now it’s gonna feel like a real road trip!”
A few more songs were added before the phone was passed all the way up to Ghost. Hesitantly, Ghost added his own favorite songs. His teammates knew him decently well. They’re even seen his face before under the mask. However, there were still things they were learning about when it came to his personal life. One of which was his favorite kind of music. Thankfully, he was willing to share that information, trusting his team more and more with each passing day.
He looked at you when he was done, wondering if he should even offer. Having watched the interactions from the mirror, you decided to stay out of it. When Ghost was done, you just shook your head for a silent “no.” Simon imagined that you were rejecting the idea in your mind based on the warning look you gave him. Don’t even try. That made him really wonder what kind of music you liked. The records back home were incredibly diverse. But what was your favorite? Jazz? Metal?
The phone was passed back to Soap. It was quite a diverse playlist. He didn’t realize that his team had such different tastes, but it just made him excited to give it a listen. He connected it to the car’s bluetooth and hit the shuffle button. Ghost went ahead and switched the car to bluetooth mode for him. Almost immediately, the car filled up with music, starting with one of Price’s songs.
Instead of tuning out, you tuned in. Very much so. Small details, even favorite songs, could say a lot about a person. You were learning about the men now. Not for the sake of potential friendship, no. For the sake of information for potential future manipulation if things went sideways. You always prepared for the worst, even when times seemed like the best.
The discussion carried forward, now with the ease of real music in the background. Gaz decided to take the plunge and ask you a question. “So. . . Hex. . . You lived a long time out in the woods. How did you survive on your own? There doesn’t seem to be a grocery store for miles around.”
You adjusted your sitting position, trying to get comfier in the driver’s seat. If you were going to deal with this for most of the trip, you might as well get as comfortable as you can. You answered, one hand on the wheel and one arm resting near the window. “I have an acquaintance who’s a farmer that gives me whatever I need. In return, I pleasure his wife, which helps save their marriage.”
His eyes got huge, not expecting the answer. He nearly tripped over his words. “Really?!”
“No, Kyle. You really think I would do such a thing?” You scowled. Internally, though, you were cracking up at his bewilderment. Soap and Price began chuckling in their seats. Even Simon was cracking a smile that no one could see. Kyle’s embarrassed blush that matched the falling red leaves outside made them even more amused. Who knew you had a sense of humor? A crude sense at that.
He muttered an apology. At least he was a good sport about it. A part of him found it quite funny too. After the chuckles died down, you answered his question truthfully. “Kate does supply drops for me. Not all the time, just when I need more meat than the woods can provide. Everything else I grow.”
It was an answer that made sense and didn’t reveal much about yourself. Nothing too fascinating about it. At least, to everyone save for Ghost. He took note of your truth, pictured you growing fruits and vegetables, hands in the dirt and sweat dripping down your temple. He imagined you hunting too. A heavy rifle and camo. Patience, aim, fire. He thought that some of the foods he had from your kitchen tasted a little gamey.
“Didn’t you ever get lonely being out there all by yourself?” Soap inquired, not afraid to ask the question that was on everyone’s mind. All eyes were on you as you took a deep breath.
“No, Johnny. Never.”
This was partially a lie as well as partially the truth. There were times where you did feel alone. Like the only human left on the planet. Kate’s calls every now and then help curb it a little, but it wasn’t the same as actually being in the same space with someone physically. Yet, when you were surrounded by people on a classified mission or watching disaster after disaster on TV, it made you glad that you weren’t a part of any of it. The flurry of different emotions coming from all different sides when with civilization was often too much for you. You needed control. More control than what you could usually get when you were on the outside again.
Simon was watching you carefully now, trying to pick up any indication of a cracked resolve. A twitch, a change in breathing, anything to read into further. There was no way you never felt lonely. Yet, you said it with such conviction that it startled everyone. Ghost just couldn’t believe you.
Having killed the conversation, the boy awkwardly tried to change topics. Now excluding you. Good. You preferred it this way.
~
A few hours in and the car was quiet. Light, easy music played now from the car speakers as everyone took a nap. Except for Ghost, of course. Fortunately, he did keep himself occupied by reading the book you lent him. The first couple of chapters were a miss in his opinion. After a couple more, it started to get good. It didn’t take him long to actually get invested in the story, reading between the lines as you had done when you read. You had good tastes.
Enjoying the quietness of the trip was something you didn’t think you would be able to do. Especially with Simon in the front. Surprisingly, he was being good which you hoped would like for the rest of the trip. Unfortunately, you jinxed it in your head. Out of the corner of your eye, he bookmarked his spot and took a break. Now, he wanted to talk to you.
“You didn’t play your own music.”
“So?” You shrugged, wondering where he was going with this. Nothing good probably.
“Why not?” He simply asked, himself not knowing what the big deal was. It was just music. You could have even lied. Picked out music you hated. Instead, you just opted out, not even willing to risk three minutes of any particular melody.
You suppressed an annoyed groan. Not this shit again. “What part of ‘leave me alone’ do you not understand, Simon?”
There you go again, saying his name with such disrespectful ease. It still made his heart beat faster hearing it from you. It still made his muscles tense in vexation as well. You noticed this from how the grip on his arms got tighter, his arms crossing his chest. “How much could music taste actually reveal about you as an individual?”
“A lot! God damn it, when are you going to drop this stupid shit? Quit playing your stupid fucking game?!” You spat, trying to keep your cursing at a low volume lest you wake up the rest of the team. Your knuckles were turning white with how hard you were gripping the steering wheel, desperately trying to keep your cool.
However, he didn’t drop it. He didn’t want to, so he wouldn’t. Simon could be just as stubborn as you which made you want to punch him. Have his teeth fall out of his mouth and get caught in his skull mask. “You mean to tell me that you’ve learned a lot about us based on our favorite songs alone? That’s just ridiculous, Hex.”
He could use your name as a curse too. Anything to get you to keep talking to him. Anything to keep your attention. To figure you out. As much as you didn’t want to give him what you wanted, you did anyway out of sheer aggravation. “It’s called Music Psychology, you fucking ass! Do they do anything besides tell you what to shoot in that god forsaken military?! Do they really keep you all fucking braindead?!”
“Watch your mouth, Hex! You don’t want to say anything you don’t mean.” Simon warned, his voice low like a bass about to snap its strings. He had to remind himself that you weren’t like them when it came to combat approach to cool down. The 141 employed leadership, strength, swift execution. An assassin like you employed other values, one being the art of psychology apparently.
He wasn’t going to let you badmouth his team and those back home that don’t deserve your slander, though. Many people back home were plenty capable with their own skill sets. It wasn’t fair to put them all in one box just because they followed the orders of the government.
“Watch my mouth?! Have you even heard the shit that’s coming out of yours?! Or is your head so far stuck up your own ass that you can’t hear what you say?” You antagonized further, making the situation worse with each passing insult.
“Why are you so fucking defensive?! You cracked a joke earlier, but now asking about your music tastes is too much? You don’t make any fucking sense, Hex. What the hell are you so afraid of?” His own voice was rising with volume as he spiraled out of control as well.
You were practically yelling at this point like the rest of the world didn’t exist except for you and Simon. A personal bubble where you could really try to rip him a new one. You didn’t hold back. “I’m not afraid of anything, Ghost! I just want you to leave me the fuck alone! Why are you so desperate to know me?!
“You’re part of this team, whether you like it or not!  Whether you want to be an enemy or not! Part of that is trusting us with your life. All of it!” He argued, trapping himself in this conflict bubble with you.
Your temper was boiling over to the point you could cry. Why was he doing this to you? Why couldn’t he just let this go? “Why can’t you understand that I am never going to be part of your team?! I never can and I never will!”
At that he paused. There was something about your last retort. Never can? It was oddly specific. What did that mean?
Just then, the light for gas lit up on the dashboard. You clenched your jaw, cursing more profanities that would have anyone blush. A couple miles down was a gas station. A wave of relief washed over you. Now you had an excuse to exit the car to get away from Simon.
You didn’t realize it before with how provoked you were, but the 141 in the back was awake and clearly heard the two of you bickering. The tension thick enough to choke on made it hard for them to interfere. This pit stop would hopefully let things settle down again.
As soon as the car was parked near an empty pump, the doors slid open to let the men out. It felt good to stretch their legs and breathe in some fresh air. It was about time Gaz was relieved of the back seat too. Price, Soap, and Gaz headed into the convenience store for a moment to pick up drinks and snacks, something that was essential for their road trip experience. You leaned against the car, waiting for the gas pump to finish. The entire time, Ghost sat silently in the front doing his own breathing exercises to get his temper under control. God, you were venomous. Troublesome, irritating, infernal, a million other words. Yet, you were beautiful when you were pissed. He couldn’t understand it.
Finally, the car was loaded up once again, now complete with drinks, snacks, and a full tank of gas. The seating arrangements changed, Price now in the back to allow Gaz a chance to let his legs stretch out more. Besides that, he didn’t really want to be up front with all of the conflict. He would normally break it up, but he still didn’t know enough about you to feel comfortable doing so. It was better for this to just play out. It wasn’t like Ghost couldn’t hold his own.
In an attempt to lighten the mood, Soap ripped open a bag of chips followed by a joke. “Looks like mom and dad are fighting again.”
The smirk on his face was quickly wiped away as a pair of keys jingled right near his ear, embedded in his head rest. You had turned from your seat as soon as you registered his distasteful joke, thrown the car keys like a knife, and narrowly missed pinning his ear against the fabric. The car was dead silent as you stared daggers into him. Despite being a strong man with plenty of experiences with danger along with close calls, this experience had Johnny near pissing himself. If looks could kill, he would have been six feet under already.
What was worse was the fact that you missed on purpose.
“Shut the fuck up! You are not to insinuate that again. Ever! Now, I don’t want anyone trying to talk to me or talk about me for the rest of this fucking trip. Talk to each other, I don’t give a shit. But no more dragging me into any conversation. Are we fucking clear?!”
You were met with quick, obedient nods followed by Soap gingerly handing you back your keys. Before you all knew it, you were back on the road like you didn’t just nearly kill Soap.
Simon was speechless, not expecting you to be so. . . dangerous. His feelings about what just happened were conflicting. On one hand, he wanted to fight you to defend his trusted sergeant that meant no harm, even if he didn’t really like the joke either. On the other hand, he’s never been more attracted to a woman in his life.
The car ride was silent for the next several hours.
~
Your muscles ached from your stiff position. You’ve been driving this whole time, only allowing gas breaks to be your time to stretch out. The boys have rotated seats every stop, now including Ghost who was finally giving you some space by being in the back. Last stop, though, he moved right up to the front with you once again.
You were getting the dreaded road trip tunnel vision. After so many hours of driving, you couldn’t see anything except for the road ahead. You weren’t so much as driving anymore. You more like just looking out the front windshield, barely keeping up with the surrounding area that passed by. What you normally would recognize as trees, road signs, and roadkill were now just a big blur.
“You’re tired.” Simon commented, treading very carefully. He didn’t want to start another fight. Far from it. He just couldn’t bear to see you so exhausted from driving.
“I’m fine.” Your voice strained, having lost some of it from the screaming match earlier in the trip. You weren’t used to talking so much as you have been for the past week, let alone fighting with words. A warm cup of tea with honey sounded so good right now.
Ghost took a deep breath in before he gently settled his hand on your shoulder. The fact that you didn’t shrug his touch away was very telling that you were really out of it. “Come on, Hex. Just for a bit. Pull over and I’ll take over the drive. We can switch back after you recuperate.”
It took you a minute to agree. Pulling off to the side of the road, you switched places. The room to stretch out in the passenger side was very much needed. Your bones cracked as you really gave yourself time to take it easy for a moment. “Just an hour. Then, we’ll switch.”
He nodded, finally agreeing with you on something out loud. “Just an hour.”
~
You ended up dozing off for longer than intended. Despite the agreement, Simon let you rest. The trip was already almost complete anyway. What was two more hours to add to your much needed rest?
When the car slowed to a stop, the gang woke up out of their naps, eager to exit the minivan and head into the average-looking hotel you had designated as the new checkpoint. It was nearing dinner-time, the city bustling with people heading to enjoy their meals. Price was ready for something other than chips. Soap and Gaz were already discussing potential food spots as if they were tourists.
As they unloaded the car to carry their things into the hotel, you stayed asleep. Dead asleep. The deepest sleep you have had in what felt like a lifetime. The men were careful to not wake you up as they unloaded luggage after luggage out of the trunk. When everything was squared away with checking in as well as bringing luggage up to the rooms, you were still snoozing away, much to their surprise.
Price opened up your door, ready to wake you up to get a move on. However, Ghost stopped his hand from touching you. “I’ll take her up. Just go ahead and grab some grub.”
Well, John wasn’t going to say no to that offer. He would rather not be bit by such a feral woman. Though, he did feel like he had to warn Ghost of what he was really doing, having observed just about everything he was trying to do in regards to you. “You’re playing with fire, you know.”
Ghost unlocked your seatbelt and picked you up out of the minivan in a princess carry. Miraculously, you still didn’t wake up. “I know. . .”
The hotel staff were concerned with him carrying you into the hotel. A large man with a skull mask carrying an unconscious lady certainly didn’t look good. In order to avoid interference, Simon had a lie ready for when a bodyguard approached. “I know the mask is scary, but it hides some burn scars. I’m just taking the missus up to the room. She fell asleep in the car.”
Not being paid enough to question the lie, he allowed the both of you to pass by.
You were heavy in his arms, but nothing he couldn’t handle. He could feel the softness of your skin, the firmness of your muscles. He could make out each individual eyelash that just barely kissed under your eyes. As much as you drove him crazy, you truly were beautiful.
The ding of the elevator reaching their floor knocked him out of his trance. Using a room key, he headed into your space for the next couple of days. The room was pretty basic. A bed, a dresser, tv, bathroom, nightstands, a desk. The only thing that really made it stand out was the original art of the wall made by local, Italian artists.
He settled your sleeping body down onto the queen-sized bed, brushing your hair out of your face as you settled into the mattress. Looking at you like this was a breath of fresh air for him. He didn’t think he would be able to see you like this so soon.
Sleeping around others was a sign of trust. Were you just really that exhausted? Probably. Ghost would still take this as a sign of victory anyway.
For a few moments longer, he studied your features. The sound of his stomach grumbling for a meal encouraged him to leave you be for now to which his brain protested. Then again, you probably wouldn’t like it if you found out that he watched you sleep.
Before he left, he took one last look at you, burning the image into his mind. “You said you didn’t sleep, kitten.”

Hob doesn't do relationships. He doesn't hate love or anything, they're just not for him. He likes to sleep around and hook up with different people and any kind of relationship he maintains is strictly casual. And it was fine when he was 20, but now Hob's almost 30 and Joanna feels like Hob needs to grow up a bit. He doesn't need to settle down or make huge commitment, but it wouldn't hurt to give dating a try and maybe grow a little as a person.
So she gives him a talking to, and while he's resistant at first, he takes some time to really look at his life and he realizes that yeah, maybe she has a point. And she tries to tell him it doesn't need to be a complete lifestyle change, just a few more dates, a few less hook ups, but Hob doesn't do anything halfway. He declares that he will the next person he is attracted to and absolutely not have sex with until a few dates in when he's sure he likes them.
Dream, on the other hand, has a problem. He's approaching 30 and already has two divorces under his belt. He commits too much too fast and he's really bad at taking things slow in a relationship. So he asks Death for some advice and she suggests that maybe he should try some hook ups, to be with somebody where there aren't any expectations for the future. Yes, this is a good idea, Dream thinks. He's going to go out and find somebody to sleep with and will absolutely not let himself develop any feelings.
Dream and Hob end up in the same bar and Hob starts chatting him up. Dream is excited because this handsome man seems like the perfect place to start. They're really hitting it off, except this man seems like he wants...a date? Which is incredibly tempting, but Dream has promised himself that that's not what he wants. It's fine, he's sure he can convince this man to go home with him.
Hob has found the perfect candidate for a date. He's beautiful and they're getting along very well, but then the man makes it clear he wants to take Hob home for sex. Which, while very tempting, is not what Hob is after, but this man is way too good to give up on just yet. It's fine, he'll just have to try harder to convince this man to go on a date.
So they're stuck there, basically playing a game of chicken to see who will give up first. The chemistry between them is palpable, and neither is willing to totally give up and find someone else. Hob loses first. Dream plays dirty and starts whispering all kinds of things in his ear and Hob folds like a wet paper towel (Hob is a weak man, okay? he knows). But Dreams loses later when he invites Hob to stay and can't help making breakfast for him in the morning and says yes to a date before Hob even finishes asking again.
AJAJSJDHSH they're so fucking stupid aren't they? Unstoppable dumbass x immovable idiot.
I really enjoy the fact that they both ultimately completely fail in their objectives. Hob is such a sweet slut he can't not go home with Dream and suck his pretty pink cock. And Dream is such a hopeless romantic, he can't not develop feelings on that very first morning as Hob sings along with the radio and licks syrup off his fingers.
Hob suggests a compromise: they will inevitably date and fall in love and probably get married (Hob has decided this already, like we've already said, he doesn't do things by halves). BUT they can also play a little game. Every other week or so, they'll go out, and seduce each other all over again. Pretending to be complete strangers, coming up with new backstories each time. Thus, Dream will get to 'explore' new people and let go of all the inhibitions one tends to develop in a relationship.
Dream rolls his eyes fondly, because its sort of a terrible idea, but he loves that Hob is trying to arrange compromises for their relationship already. It's a good sign for the future, he thinks, and hey. Maybe they'll give the game a go sometime. It won't be so bad to let Hob seduce him, next time...

Stede and Ed really suck this season. Looking back, lots of their scenes were extremely cinematic and/or quotable: the dream sequence at the start, the mermaid scene, the thing about breathing the same air, the kiss under the moonlight, them banging with fireworks going off outside, Ed reading Stede's letter, the kiss and love confession during the fight with the English, and finally them standing together in the dilapidated house that is supposedly going to become their inn.
It felt heavily like style over substance. Meanwhile they spent the entire season flip flopping between being together, breaking up, taking things slow, taking things fast. It led to a severe case of arrested development for both of them, because at the end of the season neither of them really changed, they never talked through their issues which could help progress their relationship in a meaningful way.
I mean hell, Stede is worse this season than he was before. In the past he was self-centred and a bit of a dick, sure, but at the end of the day he did seem to care about his crew. And there he is, being the one to suggest that Ed go back to the ship and the crew, one half of which he marooned, and the other he spent weeks or months traumatizing. And on the same day that the very crew unanimously decided to kick Ed off the ship. Like??
Ed, similarly, seemed so... Confused is probably the best word to describe him this season. And I don't even mean the character himself, but the way he was written. We have established looong ago that he doesn't want to be a pirate anymore, yet after he abandons his leathers, he immediately retrieves them within like one day. And sure, he did it to protect Stede. But then he kinda... Did a complete 180° and suddenly wants to actually go back to piracy? Then he's supposed to rejoin the crew of the Revenge only to then stay on land with Stede with the intention to run an inn?
He seems all over the place, and not in a way that feels interesting or entertaining anymore. I mean hell, the first three episodes of the season were amazing, and he was definitely one of the highlights of them. He was incredibly intense in everything he did, hurting, heartbreaking, wanting to go down and willing to take the entire world with him. Those three episodes were probably my favourite bit of television that I've ever seen.
But then... Stede showed up.
And in the end Ed got reduced to this hollow character that doesn't seem to know what he wants at all, and it feels like it's going to bite him in the ass very soon, and hard. He didn't do any of the heavy lifting of development he could've or should've gone through. Izzy did. And then he bled out in Ed's arms.
What worries me is that DJenkins said in interviews before that ideally the show is supposed to end after three seasons, and (if we get season 3 at all, that is) if that is the case, if Ed and Stede are supposed to get a happy ending together that is meant to feel earned and gratifying, they won't have nearly enough time for it. I mean, they hardly talk about the things that matter, that are important to talk about if you want to have a serious relationship with another person. And sure, they might both feel this intense pull towards one another, but that isn't nearly enough to make it work between them. For one, love sometimes simply isn't enough. And I hope that they realize it in time.

Ahsoka is so slow I could cry. She was trained by Anakin and presumably Obi-wan and several other Jedi, and Rosario can hardly do an actual lightsaber twirl, let alone make me believe she could survive Ventress, Maul, Grievous, or Vader, survive order 66, or run in a way that looks fast. Bo-Katan moves faster, Shin moves faster, Sabine moves faster, Ezra moves faster, even Ewan's lazy twirls while walking around and not actively engaged in battle in the prequels were roughly as fast as Rosario's in an actual duel.
It's also canon that in this era, in a less prequels flashy version of standard Jedi abilities, a Jedi can leap SEVERAL feet. Luke in ROTJ- even GROGU can jump higher, while Rosario's feet are consistently glued to the ground. Her choreography and speed are so inconsistent with this established era and people keep writing it off and praising it as her fighting like a samurai now, even though it makes NO sense for her to, given who trained her. She isn't A New Hope Obi-wan, nor sad cave dwelling Obi-wan who hasn't stretched or lifted a weapon in a decade, and a 44 year old Jedi is still supposed to be in their prime.
I truly wonder if part of it is that they can't keep her lekku on properly if she does a flip, and they are shorter because they were meant to be more practical, but I'm really not seeing a character agile enough to need stunt modified lekku.
If they couldn't bring this to life in live action convincingly, it should have remained animated and each passing week demonstrates this more and more.
I'm sorry to anon into your inbox like this, but your post about the last episode has been so refreshing, and I've felt like I've been watching a completely different show than other people and don't know how they considered any of the actors ready. (Rosario has said she was training during filming). Thank you for your brutally honest take, you're spot on on all counts.
Couple of things.
A) I agree with everything you just said. Always feel free to come and rant into my asks.
B) I HAVE BEEN ANTI TINY LEKKU SINCE MANDO S2. It's laughable that we've seen cosplayers with more Rebels accurate headpieces. And of course everyone defends it with the 'it wouldn't be fair to the stunt person to have them try and do flips in that' and it's like NEWSFLASH Ahsoka isn't doing flips anyway!!! And sure, they probably stuck Rosario in a 5 week sword training class, but she's clearly not had to do any serious combat training given how clunky her fights are. And again, this was also a problem back in Mando s2, only she was in the middle of a foggy woods, so it was easier to hide the fact that she is incompetent when it comes to fight choreography.
C) "If they couldn't bring this to life in live action convincingly, it should have remained animated" Exactly. This is why every passing day I am increasingly pissed that this show killed and ate the animated Rebels sequel series that was in fucking development. Everything about this show, from Ahsoka, to Hera (hell, even TBoBF cameos like Cad Banes) prove that Disney is not willing to shell out for a decent makeup and/or CG designer. No shade to the artists that are currently working on it, they are doing their jobs to the best of their abilities. What I mean is they didn't have anyone on set that was in a high enough positions to say 'Hey, have any of you heard of contouring?' Like, just looking at the alien makeup of the OT...which somehow holds up better than state of the art Disney budget makeup. It's just fucking embarrassing at this point. There is no reason everyone should look as flat as they do, but it's no surprise that they do when mary elizabeth winstead is celebrating that her makeup only took an hour. Sure, it's understandable that you don't want to be sitting in the makeup chair every morning of hours on end, but in the end you are an actor who signed up to play an alien...Suck it up buttercup.
D) I totally understand how hard it is to be not liking this show right now. The amount of people who've told me that "well, clearly it's just not made for you" after I point out a simple fact that a character is out of character is painful. Looking at twitter after each episode as everyone seems to think Filoni is creating the second coming is painful. Because it really does feel like we're watching a different show than them.
Okay, I think I covered everything. Thank you again for your kind words and your wonderful rant!!!

Recovery - Chapter 16
Tumblr media
Eminem x FemReader (Y/N) fanfiction
Summary : Reader makes her relationship with Josh official. They go dancing on a double date but something goes terribly wrong.
Tags : Angst
CW : Sexual assault
FAST FORWARD TWO MONTHS LATER
You were officially Josh’s girlfriend. You had « the talk » a few days earlier as he brought you home from one of your numerous dates. You saw each other pretty often, at least three or four times a week. In fact, as soon as a date ended, he seemed to make a point to ask you on another one. He also came up with a lot of nice romantic ideas and gestures. Every week, he would treat you to a fresh bouquet of flowers, and he made sure to wish you a good day… everyday. Your dates were also really fun. He seemed to make it a point to come up with original ideas and not just the usual “dinner and a movie” thing. In the last two months, you had attended shows, art exhibits, dancing classes… You could tell he was putting a lot of efforts into trying to win you over, and it was working pretty well. He was nice, funny, good-looking and caring. Talking to him was easy and you felt confident whenever he was around. So much so that you managed to open up to him, namely about your sobriety. He was extremely supportive of this and there wasn’t an ounce of judgement about your past. So, when he asked you to be his girlfriend, you were happy to accept. Everything about your relationship seemed to come naturally and you were sure that, in time, you would develop feelings for him. Stronger than those you had for Marshall, even. Or at least, you hoped so.
Still, it felt nice making it official. Everyone at the studio constantly teased you on your happy demeanor.
Look at how happy she is, Porter said with a grin. Our girl is getting some good sex. That’s some orgasm afterglow shit here. I know it !
What would you know about that ? Marshall asked. You’re the most single person I know.
His friend simply replied by giving him the middle finger.
Shut up. You’re not getting any pussy either, man.
Marshall scoffed. As far as you knew, things were good between him and Nicole. However, it seemed like he hadn’t told the others about her. Probably to avoid getting so much shit. You smiled discreetly, as you were kind of in on a secret. He probably was getting laid and no one knew it. You tried not to think about it though. Just because you had a boyfriend didn’t exactly mean you liked the thought of Marshall sleeping with anyone, giving them the same orgasms as he had given you. It wasn’t that you were jealous or that you weren’t willing to go all in on your relationship. It wasn’t that you didn’t want your friend to be happy either. It was just weird to think about him sleeping with someone when the two of you had been intimate.
You, on the other hand, hadn’t had sex with Josh yet. At first, you decided to take it slow. Marshall’s words about dating and recovery echoed in your mind and you figured you should probably play it on the safe side. Then, things had gotten a bit more serious and you had come close to sealing the deal, but your period got in the way. You had been waiting for it to be over so that you could get laid and it was now over. You could tell your boyfriend was looking forward to it too, even though he was a gentleman and never pressured you about it. Meanwhile, you planned your first time in your head. You had even bought a nice lingerie set from the occasion. You planned on wearing it tonight as you were sleeping over at Josh’s for the first time after a double date with Hailie and her boyfriend.
When do we get to meet Josh ? Talia asked.
Soon, probably, you replied. You’re going to love him !
I’ve seen him in pictures, he is HOT as fuck, she said. The two of you are going to have the hottest babies ever.
Everyone laughed. By now, it wasn’t a secret to anyone that Talia had baby fever. You were pretty sure she was begging Jamal for a little one.
Wait. We have pictures of the hottie ? Porter asked. I wanna see.
Fine, you said as you rolled your eyes and got your phone out for everyone to see your cheesy wallpaper. It was a cute selfie of the two of you, at sunset.
Oh, girl, Talia said. You are SO LUCKY.
Jamal stared at her.
So you’re into skinny white boys now ? He asked. Mmmkay.
Everyone laughed at Jamal’s jealousy. They quickly commented on the picture and agreed that the two of you looked good together. Marshall looked at you with a smirk and you rolled your eyes at him. Although he was quieter about it, he still liked to tease you about your relationship. Only, he did it in private, via text or when it was just the two of you hanging out.
Anyway guys, I should go change. We’re going salsa and bachata dancing tonight, you said as you got up and rolled your hips.
You never dance for us, someone commented.
There’s a LOT of things I don’t do for you guys, you replied playfully with a smirk. Afterglow shit, you know ?
Everyone laughed except Marshall, who quietly stared at you and shook his head. You gave him a wink before exiting the room and changing into your clothes. You wore a beautiful black dress with a flowy skirt that still hugged the right parts of your body. It also had a deep v-neck that showcased your boob in the right way : just enough to be appealing, but still elegant. You added black heels and some gold hoop earrings. When you came back, the others were staring at you with big eyes.
Damn ! Royce said.
What ? You asked. Is it… too much ?
Oh, we’re definitely seeing too much of something, Jamal said as he pointed at your boobs.
Or not enough, Porter said with a chuckle.
You could see Marshall giving him the biggest side-eye you’d ever seen.
Sorry, Y/N, Porter chuckled. I just mean to say that you’re really hot in this dress.
You look very nice, baby, Talia complimented. He is going to be all over you.
Well, that’s kind of the goal, you know ? You said with a wink.
I could have lived without hearing that, Jamal said sternly.
You couldn’t help but chuckle. Jamal was always so protective. And when it came to you mentioning your sex life… Let’s just say he would gladly do without, as a matter of principle.
Whatever, it’s just dancing, you said with a smile. Nothing inappropriate about that.
Except it’s Bachata, Talia said. It’s like… the sexiest dance there is.
Is it ? Porter asked.
It is, you nodded. We’ve been taking a few classes. It’s really great. You’d like it.
Care to show us ?
You put some music on your phone and grabbed his hand, demonstrating a few steps. Royce and Talia were clapping, while Marshall and Jamal were sitting on their chairs with their arms crossed, unimpressed. When the music ended, Porter grabbed your hand and kissed it, like the gentleman he was.
That is a sexy dance, Royce commented.
Right ? Talia said. Babe, how come you never took me bachata dancing ?
Because I definitely don’t need that to seduce you, Jamal replied.
Oh, Josh doesn’t need that to seduce me, you chuckled. But I’m really happy he’s doing it. I swear, he is the most romantic person I know…
Y’all should see the bouquets he gives her all the time, Talia told everyone. Our house looks like a flower garden ! And all the little presents, the messages…
Really ? Royce asked.
Oh, yes, you said with a smile. I’m dating a great man.
That’s not even dating, that’s courting, Talia said. You guys are definitely getting married. I can already see the dress…
We haven’t even met him yet, babe, Jamal said sternly.
I don’t care, Talia shrugged. I know romance when I see it. This is the real deal.
Well I’d definitely like to meet him, Jamal insisted. Just so that I can make sure he has good intentions.
Don’t worry, you joked, if he proposes, he will need to get your blessing. And Talia’s approval on the ring.
Two carat diamond, oval cut, halo, preferably rose gold, she recited.
You’ve dated him for two seconds and a half, Marshall finally chimed in.
I know, you said with a smile. But maybe he’s the one.
He looked at you and seemed taken aback for a second. He sighed before looking at his phone and getting back to work. Eventually, they took a break and he came to you as you were making tea in the kitchen.
So… Dancing ? He asked.
Yup. Are you going to make fun of our dancing classes again ? You asked with a grin.
Nope, he chuckled. I mean, it’s still corny, but…
What do you and Nicole do on dates ? You asked. You could take her dancing, maybe she’d like that.
First of all, I won’t be caught dead dancing bachata, he replied. Also, I don’t really see that ending well, me going on a date in a place full of people…
Right, you chuckled. Your options are somewhat limited.
Kind of, he said. I’m not great at dating anyway.
Give yourself a little credit, you said softly. She wouldn’t keep seeing you after two months if you didn’t get a few things right.
Well, tonight is only our fifth date, he chuckled. She can still run away.
Only fifth date ? You asked in disbelief.
Yeah, well, I’m busy, he said. And so is she, with these shifts in the ER. You know, not everyone goes out every night…
I don’t see him everyday, you chuckled.
Come on, he said as he rolled his eyes. We never see you around here anymore. Even my daughter sees more of you than I do, these days…
Are you jealous ? You teased. Missing your incredible bestie ?
Maybe a little, he said with a smirk.
You’re too cute, you said before kissing his cheek. Movie night later this week ?
Sure, he said. Anyway, enjoy tonight. And be careful, alright ?
I’m with Josh, you said. I’m in good hands. And he knows I’m sober. I’m safe, I promise.
Good.
One question though… Are you with Jamal on the dress ? You asked. Is it too much ?
Doesn’t matter, he said softly. You could be wearing those awful cat PJs and he’d still be the luckiest man in the world to have you by his side. But don’t worry, you look incredible.
He kissed your cheek and went back to work.
That evening, you joined Josh, Hailie and her boyfriend at the club and had fun dancing the whole night. The classes you had taken were paying off and Josh couldn’t seem to get enough of you, his hands not letting go of your hips the whole night. You left him for a few moments as you headed to the bar to grab some water. You were hot and dehydrated from dancing. The others were also a bit drunk from all the margaritas they had. Thankfully, you stuck to mocktails. Josh had offered to stay sober, in support of you, but you told him there was no need. He didn’t drink too much but was definitely tipsy.
Hi beautiful, a man said as you approached the bar.
Hey, you quickly greeted him and waited for the barman.
How about I get you a glass of champagne ? The stranger offered. Only the best for a hottie like you.
Uh, thanks but I’ll stick to water. Plus, I’m here with my boyfriend so, very flattered but…
I don’t see any ring on that finger, he pointed out.
Please stop, you asked as you rolled your eyes.
Fine, I’m sorry, he apologised.
You looked over at your friend group, still on the dance floor.
There you go, the man said as he placed a glass of water in your hand.
Is that for me ? You asked.
Yeah. Sorry for hitting on you like a jerk, he said. Can I at least get a dance ?
Don’t think so. Sorry. Thanks for the water though.
You drank about five glasses of water before going back to the group and danced with them some more. You started feeling a bit weird. As if you were drunk. You figured it was the heat and needed to splash some water on your face.
I have to go to the bathroom, you told Hailie as she asked you where you were going.
I’ll join you in a minute, she said.
You went there and felt a hand on your ass. It was the stranger from the bar.
So where’s that boyfriend of yours ? He asked with a grin.
Dude, leave me alone, you said.
Don’t be a bitch, he replied as his face got closer to yours, his hand still on your ass. I’ve seen you dance over there. Man, those hips…
He smelled like booze and you were grossed out. You thought you were going to puke. You felt him push you against the wall, as he took one of your boobs in his hands. You tried to push him back but found you had no strength. You were suddenly scared.
Please, don’t, you begged as his moves made his intentions really clear.
You were silently praying someone could come to your rescue, hoping no one would think you were banging a stranger in the bathroom. He didn’t listen and you could feel his hands slip under your dress as tears starting rolling on your cheeks. You could feel his touch on your body. Right where Marshall had been the last one to touch you.
Marshall… you moaned as you cried.
Call me whatever you like, baby, the stranger said with a laugh.
You wanted to reply but you felt your eyes closing and your head hit the cold floor.
Y/N ?!
It was Hailie’s voice.
GET OFF HER, you heard her scream. HELP.

We live in a world where women still go to doctors to find out what is going on with their bodies. When I heard a woman who centers the unseen and spiritual and calls herself a “Priestess” say that she needed to go to the doctor to find out what's going with her body, I was in shock. Not to shame or judge her but I forget how the female collective thinks and perceives as it relates to their bodies, because as a female, as a woman, as a woman who is connected to her heart, womb, and pussy, as a woman who lives the Priestess path, as a mythical playful ancient spirit who lives in a highly pigmented melanated avatar, as a root posterior chain dancing expression, there is absolutely no way any doctor would know more about the inside or outside of my body more than me.
Please consider the depth of divine knowing you hold within your body when you no longer believe that you should go to the doctor to find out what is going on with YOUR body. To hold a high level awareness of the body your soul lives inside of is incredibly valuable and imbues you with precise clear sensation, not only for you, but for your loved ones and this world. You sense and feel what is going on with your body and if you decide to go to the doctor, you wonderfully go merely to receive a second opinion or confirmation. This is what being connected to the divine feminine becomes a real lived experience and not just a bunch of memes. Women have been taught to fear our bodies, to distrust them, and to give our power away to practitioners, doctors, lovers, and entities outside of ourselves. We have not be taught to learn our bodies and how to tend to our vessel so that we can optimize our health and vitality and capacity for more that allows us to create a body and life that we actually have a relationship with and adore.
Modern women spend so much time in their heads or just talking all the time and as a result have very little energy to expand their feeling-body capacities which means that they have no real craft. Learn to sit in stillness. Go into the dark and get quiet. Develop a listening practice with the instrumentation of music like harp sounds from the likes of Alice Coltrane, Dorothy Ashby, Valérie Milot, Andreas Vollenweider, Loreena McKennitt, etc. Become more aware of subtle details communicated from your body. Doing so will tell everything you need to know about what is living within you (and what is dead).
Once a day I spend some amount of quality time with myself. Hands on-and sometimes hands inside. Temple-tending I call it. It is not masturbation or sexual, as lovely as those experiences can be. If I do orgasm, it is NOT from force, effort, deliberate, intentional, or a concern. Orgasm is always present in our body and when conditions are harmonious, it will happen on its on. The only reason I understand my body and have radically shifted my quality of health is because I have spent quality time with it. That means that I can push out new work in a fast-paced way because my hands-on touch with myself, my taking time to be with my body, is also part of my work and living in my dharma.
But temple-tending, as I experience it, is an actual listening practice. It is how I listen to and connect with what my body is communicating *TO ME.* I don’t care how tired I feel, it is such a gift to myself for me to take time out to feel this body. It not only activates my vagus nerve, but floods my body with oxytocin. At minimum, I slow stretch, massage my breasts and consciously and deliberately say kind things to my skin. I truly believe that it is one of the reasons I haven’t had a cold, bellyache, cramps, virus, or been sick in any other way in decades.
Be willing to make your own self-touch part of your daily practice. It doesn't matter how long the practice is, but the more you ritualize your own self-touch, the more you build a real relationship with your body. Then your desire/need to touch your body becomes second nature and less odd, goal-oriented, or a kind of chore. You won't have ever have to "make time" or remind yourself to do it. It will be like brushing your teeth. —India Ame’ye

Can't send asks from my sideblog, but this is @chewing-the-drywall
I feel like much of s2 fell into Frenchie's "we put it in the box and then lock it and don't open it again" in the sense that it set up A LOT that I was intrigued about how they would address it, but it either never was mentioned again or was handled poorly.
Examples range from light, like how I wish we saw more of the crew interacting with each other in ways that built on their characters from S1, where in S2 they didn't feel any more developed, or even regressed. (Example, Fang used the word Fingies 2-3 times through S2, and it felt like they were using it almost as a shorthand for his character, rather than making him feel more real and multidimensional as a character.)
100% @chewing-the-drywall. When I first heard that line I had I was so excited for the story to prove Frenchie wrong. Or show how important it can be to put aside problems to stay alive in the moment. But in the end, this one line summarized how the season handled everyone, besides Stede and Ed. Below, is an in depth discussion on where this season decided to spend it's limited amount of time. Instead of focusing on the characters and plotlines they'd already established.
This season had so MANY ideas it wanted to touch on.
Izzy trying to deal with his unrequited love and opening up to a new way of living. The traumatized 'Revenge' crew trying to adapt to a softer way of life again. The abandoned crew learning how to help their traumatized friends. Introducing new characters like Zheng, Auntie, and Archie into our main group. Setting up a conflict to resolve in season three. Along the way, referencing Pirates of history like Ned Low, Mary Reed, and Anne Bonny.
Notice, I've said all this and we're not even at our romantic leads.
Which is fine. Stories are fluid things. As long as the story knows how to flow from our leads to our side characters. Which leads us to how I feel this show took a lot of time away from establishing our central crew-
[Warning- this will be a controversial opinion- I want to know what y'all think about this] Zheng/Oluwande. This seasons habit of retreading old plotlines and referencing scenes from S1.
What S1 did so well was paralleling the side stories with what was going on with Ed/Stede. Usually, highlighting how well Stede/Ed worked by showing how much Ed/Izzy DIDN'T work. Or general hijinks that tied into the plot (Oluwande and Frenchie on the French ship).
Season 2 chose to parallel our main story with what was going on between Zheng/Oluwande as a budding romance and Izzy's slow recovery. The reason Zheng/Oluwande scenes felt like a waste for me in that the story was JUST a retelling the story we watched from S1.
A frustrated first mate(Auntie), and a legendary captain(Zheng) fighting over the captain falling in love with an idiot(Olu). In season 2, much like every callback for me, it felt like it slowed down the plot by pulling us out of the story. Like...yeah, you did the thing again, do you want me to applaud you for it?
I LIKE Zheng and Oluwande as a couple! I like that Oluwande was debating leaving Stede and taking Jim and Archie with him. But at the same time, I didn't care about Zheng until episode 7 when she beat up Stede, showing that yes. She's not just some all powerful woman taken down by a mix of love(the crew in ep3) and thinking that she was above it all (ep 7). She's fast on her feet, smart, and willing to stab someone who gets in her way. She's her own person. But.
Every other scene that established her was about her romance, felt like we could have put Rhys and Taika in there. It didn't feel...unique. It's as if the show only knows 1 way to write a romance between a badass and a bumbling idiot. Again. Oluwande in season 1 wasn't dumb in the same way everyone else was. He was protective of Jim, a bit nervous overall, but he was the person the crew chose to lead them. The season just dumbed everyone down a bit and called it a day.
This comes to the larger issue. When we only have eight episodes I don't want to rewatch the exact same plot beats with different characters. Time spent here ends up taking away from other stories we could have told about trauma and growing as a family and other forms of growing as a family. We didn't need another romance plot line. Imagine taking this time instead to show Lucius reaching out to Pete AND the crew for help. Or Frenchie finally feeling safe enough to play his lute. Or Roach helping Fang get over his thing with cakes-you get my point.
The fact we took all the found family stuff from season one, and pushed it onto only Izzy in S2 means when he dies, all the found family shit falls away. His death makes us realize we've been ignoring the central family we were supposed to care about. Because in so many words, their trauma was ignored.
[I even theorize if Izzy was alive and sailed away with them. Showing how he was taken in and loved by his crew, the ending wouldn't feel so hollow. This crew doesn't feel like a caring family. The person who protected them for months died, wasn't mourned, and then they threw a wedding the same day. Not even a full day to mourn. The 'New Revenge' feels like a heartless crew of characters we barely recognize because they aren't a family like they were at the end of S1. More like coworkers who sometimes fall in love with eachother.]
Trauma, Timelines, and Tonal issues when jumping from Episodes 1-3 to Episodes 4-5.
When the crews meet up, the story chooses to focus on the fun plot. Ed and Stede recovering their relationship, only dipping back into that serious tone when Izzy or Lucius come on screen to 'make things sad' again. I don't think the transition from 'serious' to 'comedy' was handled well.
I don't have an official timeline of the events of season two. But from what I remember, everything happens within 2 weeks.
In episode 4, Stede ignored the vote of his crew- to let the man who was torturing half his 'FAMILY' for at least 80 days- back aboard. This rubbed me the wrong way, as it showed Stede being a selfish prick in a way that could seriously harm his crew. That's when I started to see how not adding a *single* time-skip mid-season would hurt S2.
Imagine if we had a one-week off-screen time skip between episodes 4 and 5.
Maybe it's implied that they stay in that town for a bit. Izzy would a bit more time to learn to move on his new leg and start to open up to those he already trusts. Include a scene of Izzy WITH the crew, maybe laughing about something with the old traumatized crew, even if it's just a 30-second opener. Imply that the traumatized crew would have more time to settle in with the family they miss. Show that yeah, the traumatized crew needs more time to heal. Imply at the start of the 'Ed apology' that Ed and Stede have had more time to talk their issues out.
THEN have Ed apologize. You can even keep the bullshit corporate to show that Ed still has to work for this.
Healing takes time. Setting a series over the span of two weeks after half your cast was tortured by your lead love interest? After five of your main crew thought they would sail off into a storm and die after months of stress and life threatening battles? Why did that shit get shoved to the side so quickly?
Framing episode 5 as the START of Ed making amends with the crew, only to drop the plot by episode 7? Not a smart move. Because let's be honest, 'poison into positivity' in episode 6, referring to the fact that they sold all of Ed's loot to pay for the party, ignores the sacrifices the crew made to live that long. (The death of Ivan, and intense trauma they all need to work through). In a way, Ed throwing this party was him asking the crew to start putting everything away in that imaginary box.
It's Ed retroactively letting himself say 'hey, that time I spent torturing my captives was worth it because we got something good out of it' while still ignoring his own guilt. Ed needed to take accountability for his actions. No more 'I took 'a' mans leg' bullshit. The reason his arc feels so unsatisfying is that the plot easily forgives him. Fuck. I hate what they did for Ed's arc, but that's not the point.
Overall.
My issue with this season is not that it chose to do these topics, it's that it didn't think about the implications of what they were bringing up. It didn't dare to think 'maybe it's fucked if we quickly brush off a trauma like this'. Again. I know we have to blame MAX for cutting off two episodes. But I don't think 2 additional episodes would fix a tone problem seen going from episodes 3-4.
Fucking hell. Each member of the revenge had the potential for their own arc, so it's baffling to see them all reduced to 'well meaning idiot' when they all felt so fleshed out in S1.
When izzy gives his speech about belonging, there's a reason the only image in the show of the crew all together was from S1.
At the end of the day, Season 2 didn't let our surviving side characters grow. This is a mean spirited bit on how I feel the writers see the their own characters.
Stede and Ed are our leads. They won't die, not in this genera. Their shitty actions will be forgiven because it's a comedy, and as long as it's joked about, it holds no weight. They won't die. They won't get fatally hurt. Their trauma will be taken seriously, but it's a 50/50 on if they'll talk about it before breaking up again. They will eventually get a happy ending, their trauma looked at head on, because duh.
Jim, Olu, Lucius, Pete? Characters who used to have defined personalities in S1, but haven't been defined much beyond their relationships with their partners? Whose trauma might be mentioned, but will quickly be 'resolved' in one scene? Shame. Seems like they're only useful as set dressing, But we might make you useful as interchangeable side characters to riff against. Oh, and you're in love! Isn't that cool!
Izzy? I'll just quote Jenkins here. "To have him become a father figure to Blackbeard, and on some level to the rest of the crew, and to see him become the heart of why we’re giving pirates the chance to stand for being able to live how you choose. In reality, they’re thieves and criminals, but what our pirates stand for is a life of belonging to something larger than they are in the face of a crushing, slightly fascist normalcy." So...Is Izzy a pirate and accepted into the Revenge family? Or is he still an outsider? Jenkins gave us a romcom but still defines Izzy's character as that of one stuck in a drama/tragedy. Point and laugh, because tonally these two things clash HARD and will make an audience lose trust in it's writers unless well established. Leading us to the entire issue we've pointed out of not letting your characters actions hold in dramatic weight in your story.
Frenchie, Wee John, Roach, and Fang- Ah. No love interests again...shit. Well. Background actors it is... for now. We'll see. But we need 2 more scenes of the couple breaking up, so MAYBE you'll get some backstory hinted at in dialogue. You all have 1 thing your good at, so that's easy enough to put you where you belong.
Buttons and Swede? Well. They're still alive!! Don't be sad, fans :) The actors just couldn't show up anymore. We don't want our silly happy queer pirate rom com to not end on a happy ending! (Closes the lid of the trash can where they're keep Con O'Neill a bit tighter, thanking God Con was silenced by a strike this entire season from social media)
Do you agree, or disagree? Leave any lingering thoughts down below!
I'd love to chat down below.

The idea: HCS for some of the older characters reacting/dating hcs to the cram school! reader liking them.
Basically: if all of the cram school students are OF AGE, how would these characters react?
The list(Blue Exorcist):
Shiro Fujimoto, Mephisto, Lucifer, Juzo Shima, Satan, Shura Kirigakure, Mamushi Hojo, Yuri Egin
Hi Anon! Thank you for your request! Sorry it took so long. I hope you like the headcanons.
Fandom: Blue Exorcist
Characters: Lucifer, Shura Kirigakure, Mamushi Hojo x gn! Reader (Separate)
I've actually just answered a request asking for relationship headcanons for Shiro, Mephisto, Juzo, Satan, and Yuri which you can find here!
Tumblr media
Lucifer is a very intense partner. That isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it is something to be aware of when in a relationship with him.
When he loves, it’s complete and all consuming. He will do everything to protect you from his enemies and, even at times, his allies.
Sometimes this can come across as smothering but Lucifer also respects you completely. If you ask him to back off and let you live your own life, he’ll do just that. But he will always keep a close eye on you. If anything were to happen to you, he would never forgive himself.
If you’re not an exorcist or part of the Illuminati, he’ll do his best to keep you away from the coming war. He might teach you how to defend yourself, just to know you can defend yourself.
On the other hand, if you’re already involved, Lucifer likes being able to discuss plans and ideas with you. He’s got a lot of responsibility on his shoulders and having you there helps ease the weight.
Tumblr media
If you’re in a relationship with Shura, you’re certainly going to be going on a lot of adventures, both exorcist related and not. She’s a party animal and likes excitement.
If you’re not into that sort of stuff, she’ll respect that but she’d love it if you’re willing to be with her when she gets to properly relax and let her hair down (more than usual of course).
Shura’s a super supportive partner in all aspects. Need some words of affirmation about your outfit? You’ve never looked better in her eyes. Want her to look over your latest project? It’s looking good!
As energetic as she is, she also loves spending quiet time with you. She enjoys the peace you bring her and hopes she brings you peace in those moments as well.
I feel like Shura puts up a front a lot of the time, hiding her true self behind her overly bubbly personality. But with you, she can be honest, letting her walls down and knowing you’ll still care for her nonetheless.
Tumblr media
Okay, Mamushi is an interesting case. She’s probably not going to react the best if you tell her about your feelings for her out of nowhere but if you give her some time to calm down, she will certainly reciprocate.
I see her as someone who is very much a fan of subtle declarations of affection. She likes it when you put your shoes next to hers when you take them off and when you link your pinkies together while walking.
Big declarations still intimidate her a bit and she’s not great at expressing her own feelings but she’s trying her best.
I feel like Mamushi hasn’t had a lot of experience with relationships before so she isn’t really sure how fast or slow it should progress. You’ll have to be the one to set boundaries or ask her to do things so she knows.
She’s also very much someone who, even though it takes a while for her to develop feelings, once she cares about someone, she’s with them for the long run.

Hi 👋🏼. I would like to hear about Sagittarius Moons. If you don’t mind. If not that’s totally understandable. Take care 🌸
I’ve always been interested in sagittarius moons. I’ve seen that sagittarius moons and suns actually have similar personalities; I think this is because the moon is not super compatible with this sign, and one will always overpower the other. However I don’t think that makes this a bad placement to have. I know someone who has a sag moon and he loves to travel, he’s very physically active- he plays sports and spends a lot of time at the gym, and he reads a lot of books -specifically history and fantasy. When he was younger he was called “the little philosopher.” These people have VERY active minds and imaginations.
This placement has a lot of positive traits including a very literal positive outlook on life. Sag is ruled by jupiter which is thirsty for knowledge, intellectual stimulation, expansion of the mind, and wisdom. These people ask a lot of questions and don’t just blindly accept the answers they’re given. They dig deeper into “truths” because they are searching for the bigger picture, yet because they are so focused on the big picture they can easily miss smaller details that can point them in the right direction. sooooo if you’re a sag moon, it’s important for you to slow down a bit when searching for answers/solutions. Take a step back from yourself and reevaluate the situation.
They are like their sister moon sign, gemini, fast paced, quick witted, honestly a little chaotic, and have this attitude of “do whatever you want, i don’t care,” or “I’m just gonna do me.”Sagittarius moons are drama queens, but if you tell them this they will (dramatically) tell you why you are wrong. This is a fairly stubborn placement even though they are so open minded because once they find the belief system and ideology that they relate to, they won’t let anyone deter them from it (except for themselves). Maybe stubborn is the wrong word, instead i should say they are strong-willed and confident in themselves. They go according to their own agenda, and, honestly, no one else’s schedule would benefit them the same as their own.
In a relationships, I think (especially paired with sag venus) people with this placement will love to be challenged. Not necessarily on everything, but a healthy amount of debate will keep them on their toes and help maintain a lively relationship, platonic or romantic. Someone who will always be willing to go out or try something new and fun will be perfect for them.
These people start to feel depressed when they feel restrained, disrespected, or that they have reached a complacent spot in their life (work, relationships, etc). To this i recommend going out with friends or being physical (sex tbh) maybe try something new like roller skating, rock climbing, yoga, fuck it even go for a run if you don’t normally do that. Taking a class or reading a book that teaches you something new will get you intellectual stimulated and help you hop out of your rut. These people can be very impatient and can lose hope when things stop moving forward, even momentarily.
Philosophy is going to be a major outlet for this placement, and a healthy amount of it will help them maintain or develop an optimistic outlook. Being ruled by jupiter, sagittarius craves expansion, and in the moon placement it becomes expansion of the mind and challenging their own thoughts. I think this trait can make them very susceptible to substance use. This moons sign might want to see just how much they can use to reach a new area of their mind, to uncover something hidden in their own thoughts, to expand and break the boundaries. i know this is not the coolest to say… meditate (shout out to J. Cole). The feeling of expansion, serenity, and discovery that comes with using….. also comes from intense meditation. Granted meditating is much harder than doing a bunch of drugs (SHORT TERM), but sagittarius moons are always up for a good challenge.
anyways sag moons are fucking cool. best person to have a fun day and a late night with. Conversation is never boring and they have such vibrant and wacky energy. They know how to laugh, how to set aside seriousness and just goof off. When the time comes they will put their serious hat back on and get shit done, but they understand life is better when you can laugh at yourself, your pain, just fuck around and waste time.
sincerely,
a sagittarius rising 😎🤙

Okay I thought of one lol - I don't love the I must hurt you to save you kinda tropes. They rarely feel resolved to my satisfaction, they make me cry, and I'm constantly sobbing "WHY CAN'T WE JUST FUCKING COMMUNICATE?!"
RAI, I CANNOT EXPRESS HOW HARD I AGREE.
BECAUSE FUCK'S SAKE. WORDS EXIST FOR A FUCKING REASON. AND IF YOU CAN'T/AREN'T WILLING TO COMMUNICATE WITH THAT PERSON, THEN DO. NOT. STAY. IN THE. RELATIONSHIP.
I HAVE RANTED A LOT AS USUAL, SO IT IS BELOW THE CUT
Now, the issue here is that it's human for miscommunication to happen. But the difference is trust. And not blind trust, but trust that's genuinely earned.
But, and this is literally just my personal opinion, most of the time, those tropes genuinely don't make sense. Their only purpose is usually for conflict and drama. Typically, they involve listening to someone the characters would never listen to on any other day. And then at the end of it, there's no growth, no development, just an, 'Oh, that thing that happened, and I forgive you, but I'm going to throw it in your face next time we fight.'
The most common one I see is, 'My parents hate you and threatened to take my inheritance/your parents hate me and threatened to take your inheritance, so I'm breaking up with you instead of talking to you and thinking about your actual happiness/desires because MONEY IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN ANYTHING. OBVIOUSLY, YOU CAN'T MAKE YOUR OWN DECISIONS, YOU STUPID CHILD.'
And tbh? That's so fucking insulting. If I were on the receiving end of being broken up with for that reason, I would feel so betrayed that the person genuinely thought I was shallow enough to care more about money than a living human. And part of me wouldn't want to be with them anymore knowing that they think so little of me.
I think a huge issue with these tropes is that the pacing is always off. It either feels too fast or too slow. Now, granted, pacing is hard to get right. But what ends up happening most of the time is that forgiveness happens with no consequences, or the angst is drawn out so far that it's exhausting to read. OR, you'll see the classic 'I started dating their best friend and destroyed their friendship'
ACTUALLY, ADD THAT TO MY LIST OF HATED TROPES: We broke up, so I immediately started dating their attractive best friend because they were sweet and caring and there for me while I was getting over a super horrible heartbreak and all of my friends who told me not to do it are just bad friends and don't care about me and don't want me to be happy
Now, to end my rant, I'll say this: there's nothing inherently wrong with these tropes or the things I just described. Those stories are hugely popular. And there's a reason for that. But it just leaves a huge opportunity for stories with healthy relationships that have the growth and development and trust that isn't blind but built.

2023 manga list:
most of the manga i read this year. more or less around 90, but that's also counting short stories, and things i omitted.
bottom text.
beastars/beast complex [3/5] beastars as an action shonen (or a story anyway) is all over the place so don't get your hopes up to much on that front. beastars' main consistent strong point is being Horny and Weird. i've said that sometimes it doesnt compromise with the logical terms of its premise but exploring a variety of odd relationships is imo the most interesting and engaging element of it anyway.
chainsaw man [4/5] overall is a mostly normal shonen if you were expecting for something more alternative. to be honest a lot how you would feel about Pt 1 will be told by how you feel about having very consecutive character deaths, it can feel a bit rushed. but it is indeed a bit distinctive abt how it tackles the topic of intimacy/relationships esp predatory ones in jump-type shonen. can't complain too much on that front. fire punch [3/5] once the berserk-type edgyness aside on the story is aptly entertaining, tho by some stretches it can be disorienting plotwise, in a negative way. it drops Lots of plot points or rushes them... you can really grow to like some characters but there will be a point -you will know- that it just kinda disengages w you. Curious existential ending. good if you're bored.
golden kamuy [3.5/5] also more typical shonen-esque than i expected. it never gets That Much Dark imo, as in total slow downers i mean. although obviously it is 'dark' more on the bizzare part. fun characters.
kaze to ki no uta [4/5] to be honest it does live up to the reputation of making you generally emotionally Unwell. but on my experience the development of gilbert and serge grew more engaging than I expected. tragic banger. terra e... [3/5] also was more than i expected since the one time i tried with the anime i got bored 1 ep in. but the story and tomy as the mc also gave me more heartfelt emotions than I expected. the pacing and amount info conveyed can get exhausting tho. didn't care much abt the ending. natsu e no tobira [2/5] the ova is gorgeous so it has those points on its favour. otherwise the ova and the manga are almost identical. youth and death themes and all i did Nawt care abt that pedo woman. weird story to develop that shoujo theme abt allowing ppl to see your vulnerability but eh i'll take it.
YAMAMOTO: ichi the killer [3.5/5] frenetic and entertaining enough if you're willing to go through knowing the tw's. suprisingly fast to read. if you're looking for the yamamoto Experience, it's a must after hommunculus. voyeur/voyeurs inc [2/5] got awfully disappointed w voyeurs-inc; i got hooked on voyeur (ie the prototype) but the change of cast on inc was a total letdown. don't think it's worth reading of you're a ymmt casual. maybe just the prototype. okama report [0/5] don't even fucking bother. barely passable even for anybody that's very into ymmt. adam & eve [2/5] shit story, curious fights/interactions.
KATSUHIRO OTOMO akira [3/5] a lot of the military and persecution sequences get so annoying and boring sometimes but if you forget abt the adaptations it's a decent enough scifi-action thing. the movie is better at that. the relationship between kaneda and tetsuo- dont like rn to pit which of the two did it better, but from the movie to the manga it's deff not a letdown, especially for tetsuo that has a lot more time. he's interesting. domu [2.5/5] interesting action wise, but as for story I wouldn't bother. kanojo no omoide (memories of her) [3/5] ootomo himself said some of the stories are quite meaningless and nonsensical lol but if you've seen the Magnetic Rose ova you will like some of them. world apartment horror [3/5] 1st didn't care about. liked 2nd. 3rd i didn't get shit. 4th it was cute. visitors [3/5] liked it. short piece/short peace [3/5] i liked it. highway star [3/5] feels like that suicide episode of paranoia agent, that kind of humor lol. boogie wogie waltz [1/5] uncomprehensible. good weather [1/5] eh.
houseki no kuni [4/5] it isn't getting better, the tragedy doesn't stop it's not an understatement. whoa.
dorohedoro [3/5] entertaining seinen, tho sometimes it gets kinda confusing and convoluted. love the characters theyre fun :)
ajin [4/5]
i was surprised that it was a closed off story from what i expected coming from the anime haha. neat action panelling and art. I get the feel that some characters had more to give and develop, but not disappointing.
OSHIMI SHUZO flowers of evil [3/5] the romantic triangle didnt bother me as much as i expected. it is a weird manga know that up front. i'm inside mari [4/5] i quite liked it and was quite surprised abt that fact lol. blood on the tracks [4/5] good family drama at leaston my year'sranking; shuzo's art style does wonders and is v immersive. some said that it felt repetitive and while i can say at some point the went a bit ehhhh, but reading it all back to back instead of weekly i don't feel it's that draggy. backwards i think it could've used more chapters, or content rather. happiness [2.5/5] tbh got disappointed, kinda disperse. like half 1 and 2 don't have much to do... okaeri alice [2.5/5] some individual characters really do make the manga endurable but some bits from the main characters are so...? unnecessary, or unnecessarily long at least. not really shuzo's best work. avant-garde yumeko [-/5] odd.
NAGABE totsukuni no shoujo [4.5/5] i mean, for most of it that i can describe it well with heartwarming but bittersweet, about parent-child relationships, love, loneliness, sacrifice, it's pretty good at that. then It Gets You. monotone blue [4/5] refreshing bl, sweet, the art delivers and the sensitivity. and i say refreshing bl bc it's not weird abt sa or adjacent harrassment.
i read most of his shoujo works, but they're too many to mention if you liked totsukuni you will like them, nothing to lose. some uh moral objections on some..EAT [-/5] it's okay. if you don't mind horny furries. SMELL [-/5] errr..... ok.
RYO SUMIYOSHI/SUZURI MADK [2.5/5] good art as always. more fucked up background things as it goes on but the mako-J thing is kinda crayzay. it has some hasty character developments at important times... torso no bokura [2/5] also good art, nothing too upsetting if at least relative to MADK. kinda enjoyable and entertaining anthology.
NEMUI ASADA sleeping dead [3/5] imo asada's overall best work, or at least to beginners or if you plan to read just one of hers. since the translation of the work is not finished i don't wanna assume the ending, but the starting premise is interesting enough, although we're currently on a less eventful note plotwise which can feel a bit disappointing for the moment. my little inferno [1.5/5] not particularly interesting conceptually, or writing. madara moyou no yoi [1.5/5] noticeable premise for an asada work, it being more action oriented i mean, but it's still to early to say in execution. SKIN [1/5] what the hell. that's asada for everybody/ dear, my god [1/5] odd ending. didn't coincide with how the story was handling at least the preist, imo. i literally don't care about the cactus story. CALL [2/5] surprisingly not so harsh of an asada story. more of a normal kind of depressing bl. ai, sei [1/5] don't mind in any particular direction. loved circle [1/5] did not care for the setting. not as dark as you would expect but not particularly interesting either. whatever ending. to the sea [1/5] ...? that happened i guess.
hikaru ga shinda natsu [3.5/5] it's a manga that has earned a reputation and a set of expectations that (i haven't caught up w latest ch) that delivers on the visual and effective ambientation, but we're to see on the story but good so far.
double (noda ayako) [4/5] veeery expressive art from noda. if you let it be as a normal acting manga it can get you by surprise on some emotional beats. better go in with low expectations, different tastes and all.
my broken mariko [3.5/5] it's a short story, solid. gorg art that adds to the sorrow and bittersweetness.
gunjou [3.5/5] hmmm it can feel a bit repetitive the back and forth at several points of the story, depends of how you read that related to unstable relationships. i don't necessarily want to brand it mainly as a GL but all in all its still one of the most interesting entries on it, with a toxic relationship that commits to the complexity of the situation.
gunjou gakusho [2.5/5] a melancholic anthology with beautiful art. i got to like a pair of the stories.
omoide emanon/sasurai emanon [3/5] personally i preferred omoide emanon (the one the mangaka said was Twitter for people unfamiliar w emanon) and i prefer the lineal story tbh. sasurai ones can be hit or miss, some feel incomplete? or unconcluded. i mean sasurai was cancelled midway so.
bibliomania [2/5] cool art, intriguing initial premise and execution, but i didn't find it particularly interesting by the end part, like thematically.
banana bread no pudding [2/5] didn't care for the main relationship itself, but the protagonist ended up being more engaging than i expected. a mostly soft and bittersweet read, but i would wait ot read more of the author's works to say how recommendable i would rank it as.
petshop of horrors [2.5/5] the individual stories can be hit ot miss from one person to another but imo D is very consistently entertaining and likeable lol.
higashi nishida [2.5/5] not much consistency but they have a nice undertsated feeling personally :). some of its introspection catches you off guard. no high expectations though.
kodomo wa wakette agenai [3/5] it's a nice short story, it's funny if you don't come in expecting loud knee-slappers types of jokes. it's good if you're looking for something light to read.
she loves to cook, she loves to eat [3/5] also good if you're looking for something light to read.
tamen de gushi [3/5] wholesome as you would expect. nice art on later years. depends on your taste.
my solo exchange diary [4/5] actually liked and grew to appreciate the author's organized narration style. it avoids a lot of confusion and she verbalizes her feelings in a relatable way for somethings sometimes so awkward to say out loud.
seibetsu x [2.5/5] this one is much less organized temporally and thematically so it can get a bit confusing, but it's funny on it's own, since the author is very blunt on their feelings lol.
killing stalking [3/5] less Evil than i remembered, just as disturbing, just as mid ending as i remembered. maybe it's bc of being a reread -that helps pick some things better- but reading it out of the heat of the moment in its era it's not as ill intended or deliberately romanticizing as one might have led to believe; it understands that much at least. visually however, still often leans into more eroticism i call inappropiate and unncessary.
boy's abyss [2.5/5] it's a manga that drags and wanders aimlessly too much, it gets repetitive. there are some plots and elements i consider more consistent and interesting, like the family, predatory relationships and the town's seeming unescapability themes, but the suicidal thing gets a bit exasperating when it just goes nowhere. dont expect tooo much. kinda good to binge tho.
himegoto, juukyuusai no seifuku [2.5/5] if you see the premise i know it sounds kinda weird but as i said when i read it my only comment abt is that it's suprisingly more compelling than one would expect, if you dont question much the individual prompts. gets kinda heavy by the end w on character tho.
yuureitou [2.5/5] sometimes entertaining on an adventure mystery type thing. theme and writing quality varying for the first 2/3s, off it's shits by the third that's kinda ehh conceptually. read it for some crazy shit ending. trans-wise, on the mc side, well they're some consistently annoying things all throughout but technically good intentioned but the ending 1/3 is v transmisogynistic, heads up.
uzumaki [2/5] ito's art is good. didnt really get me going much but not hated reading it. didnt get the ending, or didnt like it a lot at least.
fetish, kaoru fujiwara [2.5/5] takes a turn in seriousness by the 2nd story. 3rd story is so 😖 err, and then the rest go down in tone again.
the view beyond, kaoru fujiwara [2.5/5] one of those wouldn't that be fucked up stories. like that sure happened. not precisecly im even a fan of the message of the premise, even if it's technically showing it's horrible results.
raise wa tanin ga ii [3.5/5] t'was funny. all in all, esp towards the last chapters their interactions turn more earnest, personally, than i expected.
crying freeman [2/5] major saving grace is the art, it's pretty good. dunno, it feels however you feel about edgy 007-type 80s stories. personally didnt care abt mafia-clan thing substainance plots.
devilman lady [2/3] lot's of SA till it gets a bit unbearable and boring, heads up. did not care about most of the plot itself but if you liked the og devilman characters, the mains of Lady have the same likeability. save from The Horrors of the end. -shin devilman [1/5] boring. don't lose nothing over not reading it. uh. that first chaper uh.... -amon - devilman mokushiroku [1.5/5] edgy in the usual way dvm is edgy in that usual measure,s o the story is nothing to die for lol. good art (save for Things) and cool visuals, body horror, etc more than anything. the silene storyline is the more interesting part, the other idgaf about. -neo devilman [2/5] it's an anthology. seeing different artist's takes is entertaining enough. usual dvm edgyness. -devilman saga [0/5] boring dear god. not one saving grace of entertainment even for a nagai dvm work.
tetsuo the bullet man [1.5/5] shot for shot as the third tetsuo movie. i liked the manga and its ending more than the movie's tho. not like the movie is good anyway.
dog ningen [1/5] don't let the premise scare you, it's pretty mild. and amateur. and boring.

One thing that bothers me about Lois and Clark's relationships in 2013's Man of Steel is the insanely fast build-up in their relationship towards a couple.
Of course, we all know that Lois and Clark is the end goal, as is with every story these two are seen in mass public media. Every movie, every show, every comic, it's the same, and that's fine. I understand that.
What I don't understand is how Cavill's Clark and Adams' Lois can go from a reporter chasing a mysterious man to lovers in a movie that mostly takes place within the span of days. I can see a budding friendship beginning, but to a relationship? Even for a superhero movie, it seems a bit farfetched to me.
Maybe it’s because one of my favorite version's of their dynamic was in the show Lois and Clark: the New Adventures of Superman with Dean Cain and Terri Hatcher. The slow build-up, watching Clark as he pines after Lois, someone who grows to be his friend and work partner, is so thrilling and exciting, and the payoff doesn't begin until part way through season two. We watch their dynamic change and develop slowly, and we route for them, even when Lois pines after Superman. It's the classic love triangle between alteregos that the show (for the most part) handles real well.
We don't get that in Man of Steel. In fact, the thing I wish we had more of (that we do eventually see in BVS) is Clark's humanity. We get glimpses of it, but I wanted to see more of Clark, as someone who was raised with human parents and human morals and human ideals, to relate more to the people he chooses to protect. In Man of Steel, from almost the very beginning, Clark separates himself from those around him, and it's very obvious in Clark's motivations. Cavill did the best that he could with the material, but they misunderstood Clark as a character who is both Kryptonian by blood and human by nature. This Clark is a massive loner that doesn't relate to anyone around him, and I feel that is wrong to Clark. As Superman, yes, he is an alien, a hero, an icon for the people of Earth, someone otherworldly who chose to protect humanity, but at the end of the day, he's still Clark Joseph Kent, son of Martha and Jonathan Kent, born and raised in Smallville, Kansas. He is as human as those around him.
Man of Steel doesn't get that, and it shows.
Don't get me wrong, I love Henry Cavill's Clark Kent/Superman. He had so much potential, and he was wrongfully stripped of the role he so obviously enjoyed. I wish he could've had more opportunities to flesh out his character and really develop into a character I could whole-heartedly stand behind.
Amy Adams also did a great job as Lois. She's head-strong, stubborn, willing to do anything for her story, and I loved it. It’s a total shame we had to see her character be thrown into a relationship way too soon.
All-in-all, I wish they would've built up to a friendship first and fleshed out Clark’s humanity more than what they decided to do. Man of Steel had such a great cast, but some of those characters weren't handled properly, especially Clark.

If we give critique that y’all don’t like you throw a hissy fit. One reader pointed out to a writer that the amount of blk authors that make white characters use aave is absurd y’all went CRAZY over it. (Personally I don’t agree with that anon but it’s the way the writers grouped together and responded and she wasn’t being rude either) Truly readers can’t say anything to most of these writers because y’all all gang up on them if they say something you don’t like and I think that’s why they hide behind anons. Like me🤷🏽‍♀️. If I showed my face rn and said all of these things tell me rn that y’all wouldn’t harass me. It would be a complete utter lie. I agree with that girl we can’t tell y’all what write or say or when to write so why can y’all tell us what to put on pages. Even if it’s a suggestions (some of y’all aren’t even suggesting) Whether it’s an innocent blank page with just an age. I absolutely 100% there’s a weird power dynamic going on. We don’t have an army that’ll come to our defense when we see something we don’t like, like y’all do. That’s it that’s all I have to say. A former silent reader I stand with u guys🫡LMFAOSKLG.
I don't read bllk content so I can't say that I know what or who this is about, therefore I can't comment on it.
I can say this though, once you start critiquing a person's work, you become a writer also, in turn, you also have to choose your words carefully so you don't come off as impolite, and a critique is not supposed to be most beneficial to you but to us, as the people writing. For the sake of this, I'm going to stick to not-so-positive critiques as they can be the most beneficial in improving writing.
Coming out and simply commenting, "I didn't like the reader," isn't helpful, especially when it's a one-shot that leaves little for character development, these probably benefit more from positive feedback than negative in my opinion. But for longer works, tell me more as to why didn't you like the reader? did they come off too strong? too weak? if you didn't like a certain part, tell me why? did the words seem jumbled together? or was the pace too fast or too slow? All while choosing your words carefully, because remember by critiquing me you are a writer also, and your words have an effect on me as not only a writer but as a person. I also don't have to take every critique, because It might be on unfinished work and there's more to be uncovered about the character or plot. A good negative critique should have a positive effect.
If writers feel the need to gang together is because we've all seen what a lot of our readers think about us. To a lot of you, we're disposable. Someone you can forget about when we disappear from this site while you easily move on to the next writer who enthusiastically starts writing, only for them to also pour themselves into their works without reaping anything.
Creating fanfiction isn't free. If the small price of reblogging a fic is too much for you, do you think you could, no, would be willing to pay a monetary amount to consume the fics you're reading? Pay for the time out of our day, internet usage, the computer we use, and all the other materials we use to create fics from music streaming services because we sometimes get inspiration from songs to the roof over our heads? You're consuming my time and my effort for the low cost of clicking a button or writing a couple sentences. If you don't want to okay, I might be okay with that (for now), but other writers don't.

Hello :) I texted you before asking was I istp or isfp. The problem is I provided you with vague information and that could be applied for many types. So I’ve mulled everything over and came up with a full description. Sorry for bothering you a lot...
Having read all that you wrote, I honestly think ISJ, probably ISTJ. Most of what you describe for the Ti-dom section is very Si-dom -- detail driven, comparing now to back then referencing (how is this like that other thing?), myopic views, doing detailed research when you don't know about something, being slow to try new things, and being anxious under stress and thinking how things can go wrong and/or having no patience for anything abstract (inferior Ne).
For example:
I consider my decision making process complex and structured. I rely on my past experiences, for example if confronted a problem slightly similar to what I had in the past. I will try the exact same way of solving to a new problem to see if it works. In case it doesn’t I’ll brainstorm and come up with something new. <- this is Si/Ne
Usually I have drawers with opinions in my head, I avoid speaking up when I know nothing about subject being discussed. <- also Si
I hate when something contradicts my logic. I’m not fast to believe any information, I have to read and research before formulating a strong opinion. I usually go down the rabbit hole and spend many hours and even days reading about something. <- Si/Te (carefully do research and find out the facts before accepting something)
Sometimes I notice how I change my opinions due to new insights. <- Ne development
When i see that people I discuss something with don’t hear me out, and are not even willing to understand why I point out something, I say “okay, probably you’re right; yeah, makes sense” though I disagree and it makes no sense to me at all, because it’s a waste of time and effort to continue. <- Te, plus this feels like an avoidant attachment Enneagram center (perhaps 9?)
I think some of your lack of attachment to other people (why are they mine to take care of? that's ridiculous, family comes first) is coming from low Fi (I prioritize who I care about over strangers).
I like observing everything around me. I explore the world through my senses. I pay attention to details, even when I want to concentrate on something, I may get distracted when I see something new. [...] Sometimes I notice changes in people: haircuts, new perfume (usually the ones I communicate the most with), today I noticed new traffic lights down the street.<- Si
So, in conclusion, I think ISTJ with a withdrawn/conflict-avoidant Enneagram type (such as 9). You seem to adapt to other people fairly well, go along with the flow to avoid conflict, shy away from confrontations, and are somewhat 'numb' at times.
I am sorry about what's happening in your life, btw. That's very hard and I hope you come out of this situation safely.
