The darkness was everywhere. It pressed into her body, the tenebrosity broken by nothing but a sliver of light cast on the ground. Or was it the wall? The hours of solitude had stolen that information from her too.
A strangled gasp clawed at her throat, bubbling into a desperate scream which tore from her lungs. It warmed them for a moment- offering a strange comfort in the frigid cold- but it took only a moment for the tendrils of emptiness to slither down her throat and squeeze the breath from her chest again.
Loneliness had always been her companion, but in this claustrophobic room, with her wrists chained down, every moment which fleeted by only amplified the lingering sense of unease.
The slow thumping of her heart was the only thing keeping her company now.
She wondered how long that would last.
