making a top 10 books I read in 2022 list (in no particular order) bc I like making lil lists but I have no where to put it so feel free to ignore or feel free to talk to me about them all these books are 11/10
The Bread the Devil Knead- Lisa-Allen Agostini
Project Hail Mary- Andy Weir
Les Miserables- Victor Hugo (No, I’m not joking)
Autumn- Ali Smith
Grown- Tiffany D. Jackson
My Dark Vanessa- Kate Elizabeth Russell
If Cats Disappeared From The World- Genki Kawamura
I’m Glad My Mom Died- Jennette McCurdy
Revolting Prostitutes: The Fight for Sex Worker’s Rights- Molly Smith & Juno Mac
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo- Taylor Jenkins Reid
I’ve definitely had better reading years in terms of overall quality, there were less 5* books than previous years, but I got through a few series I was wanting to read, read a LOT of long books, and some really great non-fiction which was a great change from previous years. Talk to me about these books bc they are bangers and also if you wanna check any of them out pls check content/trigger warnings because I’ve been told my taste in literature is super dark and a bunch of these books do have things to be aware of before you dive in
anyway byeeeeee

I've been sharing 50 shades quotes and moments hand selected to be humorous and ridiculous, but I believe I've given you all a false impression of the book as bad in just silly ways, just funny quips. What I haven't shared are the subtly homophobic and stereotypical characters of color and inaccurate mental health portrayals (including suicide), among other issues:
the one hispanic character smokes weed illegally (this is used to paint him negatively) and tries to force himself on ana, saying the most basic spanish phrases to remind you he's hispanic; there are only three other characters of color I can think of, all black, one is a black kickboxer and christian's trainer (always making quips and antagonizing him while they fight), one is the kickboxers brother, and the other is a personal security guard christian fires and whom ana says she doesn't really like (when she's never had that kinda problem with any other security personnel); one character is introduced as "small, dark, and gay. I loved him immediately" and is an overdramatic hairdresser; the most "normal" queer character doesn't have the fact she's dating a woman revealed until her very last appearance in the series, and she's already very infrequent (ana also happily notes that this means Ros won't be ogling her husband); Christian's mother is described as looking "relieved" when she finds out he isn't gay like she assumed; the author conflates Multiple Personality Disorder (an outdated term for Dissociative Identity Disorder, but that's what they use) with schizophrenia as if DID is someone experiencing schizophrenia; when a character attempts suicide christian asks and I quote "why would she do this to me?"
I'm making jokes at the expense of the books, but I've been generally not sharing the genuinely unpleasant aspects. they're all fairly small, but they are numerous. I'm sure there's details I'm forgetting at the moment as well. so if you wanted to read it ironically with me, there's also all this to contend with

I just have to say, my Gender Expression is unapologetically Sanji from One Piece and Momo Chiyoda from Demon Girl Next Door (ESPECIALLY season 2)
(I tried SO HARD but I couldn't find a good pick of Momo's cat shirt, just know those cats are YING YANG CATS! yes I have an embroidery pattern I painstakingly made, yes you can have it if you want just shoot me a message (。・ω・。)ノ♡)
They are just Butches your honor, but like my specific flavor of Butch and I love them and their fashion SO much
I deadass am teaching myself to sew partially cause I want better clothes w/o spending money AND cause I Need Embroidered Shit on my Hawaiian Shirts & They Don't Make Cat Graphic Tees Like Momo's But I Have A Needle And Hubris
Anyway, if you are looking for a sign to Steal His (your favorite character's look) this is it, don't let social rules stop you, you'll look hot as fuck

now that dsmp season 1 has ended, are you gonna keep watching season 2?
ah i'm pretty sure the other members have more plot/lore/episodes planned before the end of volume 1, it's only wilbur's character's finale that's done. so there's still a bit of content planned for volume 1.
and to be honest, i probably won't keep up with volume 2. at least not in the way that i did for volume 1. regardless of criticisms people have about wilbur's finale, i think the fact that it Exists and was Released gave me the final bit of closure i needed to put the dsmp's content officially behind me. my life looks completely different now than it did two years ago, so i simply don't have the time or intense interest anymore. and i genuinely find it more fun to engage with the fan community we've built and the people i've met along the way than to spend hours and hours watching streams. im just here vibing in the garden i helped grow.
hope that's not too disappointing. tho i'm pretty sure no one here is following me for my dsmp content anyways loll
