I would very tentatively like to put feelers out there for anyone looking to write long-form roleplay for final fantasy 7. I haven't written it with anyone in a very very long time and with getting back into the remake games it's spurned me to want to get back into it.
If you would be interested or are curious, I'll write all my info and what I'm looking for under the cut.
First things first.
Adults only, preferably someone 20+ though the older you are the more comfortable I will be as I am 32 and like to write about a range of topics including darker ones.
How I write
I write book style like you would see in a published story, so "talking like this" and story like this, with variations for emphasis.
Hard No's and discomforts
There isn't much I'm not open and willing to write, and usually it's a story by story basis, but I get squicked out by non-trans mpreg and would like to avoid overly ooc and crack fic style story.
What I like to write
I like to write from the Vincent POV and I like to keep the timeline pretty canon unless writing in parts of the timeline that have not been filled in.
My favorite parts of the timeline to write about pre FF7 events, DoC events and post Advent Children.
I don't have any concrete plot ideas just yet as I usually form those alongside my writing partner, but I am particularly interested in the Turks pre-Soldier program or post FF7 events.
How I write Vincent
I am of the mind that post-getting shot, Vincent is way more subdued due to memory loss from actually dying for a period of time, lucrecia even saying that she couldn't prevent decay of tissue in DoC. So there is a lot of himself he just does not remember due to that, however I do believe he has a sense of humor, is more talkative with those he is close with and has an interest in experiencing the world around him that is so new and updated.
Pre-getting shot Vincent however is a professional man who knows when to keep his personality subdued for his job. He is a Turk and he does his job well, this doesn't mean he doesn't have a life outside of that. Most of the memories we get outside of the few Vincent has of the time at the lab, are from lucrecia POV.
I like to give him a soft energy outside of work, open with his coworkers and his friends, but not willing to make a fool of himself as he takes pride in his ability to be calm, cool and collected. He will however dance, drink, play games and generally enjoy himself with those around him.
I like to give Vincent a tense relationship with his father, nothing bad just more of differing opinions and typical son butting heads with father.
Pairings I like
Almost forgot to write these as I really just like writing Vincent in any situation, but I do like Cid/Vincent and Reno/Vincent the most. I tend to enjoy Vincent with Cloud, Barret, Reeve, Veld & Sepheroth depending on the story and context.
Anyway:
I'm disabled and unemployed so I tend to have a plethora of time at my disposal so I am flexible to writing with people at most times. I am also not someone who is impatient with responses though I do tend to go through spurts of replying very quickly. I may occasionally give a boop or nudge just to make sure we are still golden and see if maybe we need to put things on hold, but I'll never push.
Just to note I played FF7 for the first time in 1998 so if there are any headcanons that may seem weird to you that I have, it's because of the near 20 years of reinforcement it's had.

thank you so much for the ask, @midnightstargazer - and i'm sorry for taking so long to getting around to answering this work in progress tag game question...
arachne is a piece i'm putting together for @ladiesofhpfest, specifically for the week on character studies - you can find the full schedule of themes here.
as with many of my pieces for last year's iteration, i'd like to use the fest to take a deep-dive not only into female characters who don't get a lot of attention in comparison to male ones, but into female characters who don't get a lot of fandom attention full stop. I've got stories in the works about mrs zabini, merope gaunt, kendra dumbledore, petunia dursley etc.
but this one is about eileen prince, severus snape's mother.
when eileen appears in fan-fiction, which is rarely, she is often given a standard backstory: she's from a pureblood family, often an elite or influential one, which disowns her when she runs off with the muggle, tobias snape; her marriage is marked by poverty and abuse; and she dies before 1991 at the latest [often, she's dead before her son becomes a death eater], frequently at her husband's hands.
and this backstory does, of course, have a strong canon basis: snape's memories of his childhood, seen by harry in order of the phoenix and deathly hallows, reveal undeniably that eileen was a victim of domestic violence and that she spent the 1960s and 1970s - at the very least - as notably poor even within a poor town.
that she's a pureblood, however, has as its canon basis only harry deciding at the end of half-blood prince that she must have been, in order to force a comparison between snape - who has just murdered dumbledore - and voldemort. that she's from an elite pureblood family has no basis more reliable than this fandom's belief that all purebloods are glamorous aristocrats, and that aristocracy is a good and admirable thing...
but, of course, the thing about harry's assessment of snape's character at the end of half-blood prince is that he's... wrong. snape is neither a coward nor a murderer, he didn't hate lily, and he's not a loyal death eater at all.
so, that made me think... what if he's wrong about eileen? after all, if her marriage to a working-class muggle man is announced in the daily prophet, she can hardly be supposed to be from a blood supremacist family? we know that not all pureblood families live glamorous lives on ancestral estates, why couldn't some of them live in terraced houses in declining industrial towns? why couldn't eileen and tobias have grown up together, have believed themselves a love story, and then discovered as they tried to make a life together as adults that the magic which seemed so irrelevant between them as children only brings resentment once there are bills to pay and no money to pay them with? what effect would that have on a son already primed to be radicalised against muggles...?
so, arachne is eileen's life story, featuring me on my soapbox about how social class is the most important theme of the series and also featuring me on my soapbox about how every character is irish in some way.
i am keeping coy for now [which, while i'm on my 'everyone is irish' soapbox is a phrase i do not sound good saying out loud...] about why the title is what it is...

so i've been thinking a lot about the vault tracks and I really like most of them. i like emma falls in love but there's a line that's really been bothering me, the "and all the bad boys would be good boys if they only had a chance to love her." It just hits weird for me, as a woman in her late-20s. like it reads to me like it's girls' and women's responsibility to change men for the better, but I think I might be misunderstanding it in the broader context of the song. I was curious to know what our resident song & taylor analyst thinks, so what do you make of that line?
i LOOOVE this question so naturally my response got really long.
so first, some context: taylor has often spoken/sung about this fantasy of turning a bad guy good. she said it explicitly in this 2012 parade interview:
I think every girl’s dream is to find a bad boy at the right time, when he wants to not be bad anymore.
📌 to answer your first point: taylor knows her friend emma is a wonderful, beautiful person, anyone would be lucky to be with her. so taylor is saying if all these bad boys (players, guys who won't commit, charmers who play games, etc.) knew how good they'd have it with emma, they'd change themselves asap for a chance to be with her.
but you are picking up on some troubling gender roles, which are kinda the basis of the bad boy/good girl trope.
let's dive in!!
📌 the sexism in the trope: the good girl/bad boy trope is vividly present throughout taylor's discography, but it's not unique to her, or her original creation. it's common throughout all kinds of media and stories. the trope goes like this: there's a hot edgy guy who's confident and charismatic and dangerous (could be literal or figurative.) he has a list of people he's left haunted and wanting him, because he's sooo broken inside. he's misunderstood and he probably cheats. he's masculine and sexy. enter good girl. she's safe, relatable, average, except for her big heart. that desire for love, and loving, is where she stands out. she can be the one who fixes him! she can change him! he recognizes that she's special, and as a result, she gets him to settle down! she tames him! and now he loves her and they get the best of both worlds: he's still sexy and charismatic but he's committed to her (supposedly), and she gets to love him and be loved by him. what a fairytale!
it's a seductive fantasy because it makes girls feel special... and conveniently makes it romantic for men to be emotionally immature, self-centered, unfaithful, even manipulative or abusive, until they meet the right woman. he's sooo bad but the love of a good girl is all he needs to change! never mind the fact that his change will require her ongoing emotional labor/energy, and he will introduce pain and chaos into her life.
so that's some of the sexism you're seeing in this trope!
let's move on to the taylor universe:
📌 the trope in taylor's life/music: from a young age, taylor chose and had thrust upon her the role of a "good girl." bad boys naturally complement that. consider that early on, her idea of love was a fairytale - romeo choosing juliet - and some of her most significant brushes with love at that time were with older men who treated her badly. they charmed her but manipulated her or played games and never prioritized her. she couldn't change them--she was hurt and confused by them, deeply. and that informs so much of her later discography: "i am no one's exception," "i can make the guys good for a weekend," style, "we need love but all we want is danger," ready for it, end game, the story she told about joe "running with wolves" before he settled down with her...
she used to believe the fighting, chaos, drama, pain, etc. was essential for love to feel real (the way i loved you, red, the archer, daylight) because if you're a good girl trying to be with a bad boy, that's just a given. how could love be anything but painful and dramatic when you are with someone who is committed to being selfish? and how could you trust anyone if you believe they're always on the verge of hurting you?
that's why songs like the archer, daylight, cowboy like me, and long story short are so touching. she learned that she deserved more than pain, confusion, and heartbreak.
📌 the reformed bad boy: it's important to note here that for all of the "i want this man to choose me," taylor has always kinda known that she didn't want a bad boy. she wanted the reformed bad boy, who wouldn't hurt her, and would love her safely (with just enough chaos to be exciting.) also, taylor delights in telling men that she knows her worth, she won't stick around forever, he better treat her well (ayhtdws, ithk)... and if he doesn't, he better apologize for it (hygtg, betty.) she even describes herself as taking advantage of the playboys and narcissist who love her, and switching out these interchangeable kens.
this is why we got a song like foolish one in the sntv vault. taylor has long known she's clever, imaginative, and she's always had her blazing self-respect. but she also held on to her hopeless romanticism: sure, she's not the exception. but she could be. she hoped to be.
📌 the reformed good girl: so, maybe in 2010-2012, taylor thought every girl would find it romantic to change a bad boy, or at least be with a reformed one. i think she loved the story of it for herself. and maybe she still might like the idea of a man choosing to shed his selfishness for her. but taylor is 33 now, not 22 (as she was in the parade interview.) i think she knows that the good girl/bad boy ideal isn't realistic, or fair. being a good girl is limiting, and bad boys aren't romantic - they don't change just because someone offers them love. fixing them isn't her responsibility, either. but a decent partner will want to protect her and do right by her. real love is complex and golden like daylight, not extreme or simple (black and white) or chaotic (burning red.) "no more tug of war, now i just know there's more." no more games, just love. that's what she's always known she deserves.

Can I ask your top 10 fav fics ever (from any fandom, if you don't mind)?

10 fics will be hard for me to do, since I'm very bad with names and I don't really.... Save any. I read, like, comment and move on.
Let's start with my name first. That's easier. Theroundbartable was a joke I made a couple years ago and I had it as the headline of my blog for a while when I was still Changelink23.
I'm not sure where it came from anymore... But I think it was kind of the basis for "connecting the dots". Which is a fanfiction I wrote that is about Gwaine and the knights making up stories about Merthur. It was their game to guess what Merlin was up to and gossip about Arthur's pining. And collectively, they'd make up the entire series on accident.
My idea then was that the knights gather in a bar, got really drunk and basically play DnD with the BBC Merlin storyline. So, the knights of the round table, but at a bar. And maybe that table was round. And maybe it was their regular seat and they called it the round bar table.
After Changelink outdid its purpose and I got really deep into the Merlin concepts, I decided my name should fit the theme. And what else am I doing here with you guys, other than exchange ideas about Merlin while half sounding on drugs? It's my idea of being part of this fandom, I think. All of us sitting at the round bar table and having fun with the series together.
Now, fanfics:
1. Dirty laundry by Gybslythe (Voltron)
It's just... It has sentimental value for me. The author put down the story because they were bullied, sadly. I just felt at home in that fanfiction because the places seemed so familiar to me and I caught the feeling. I could compare it with me visitung my godmother as a child and the described places were just the best moments of my entire childhood. Also the writing style is SOOO good! I mimicked it for a mock exam and that was my best English Exam during my A-levels.
2. Sadly I don't know the actual name of this one :/
Funnily enough, it was a Gravity falls fanfiction... And a Bill cipher x reader one at that, which is WILD that I ever read it. The Reader thing really repulses me. Lol. The thing is, it was very non intimate and the world building blew my mind. It started off with Bill realizing his existence and step by step, he'd give his knowledge to the one human that interested him and therefore lost his power. The reader, however, grew with the knowledge and in the end, wakes up as the entity Bill had been. Just, suddenly knowing she existed, no memories of ever being human. It was so well done and pulled at my philosophical brain, I built "Wired" off of it.
3. Not a story but a series...
Anything by CaffeinatedFlumadiddle. This is the series that made my Merlin writings what they are. I read these and they brought me SOOO much joy! I used to write really depressive stuff. Still do. But after reading these, I wanted to bring that joy, too. I really dug into my humor after that and it really changed how I see stories and even myself and became the foundation of what I focus on in dialogues.
4. From the grave to the cradle by larcluce
I admit it, I'm a bit biased for this one because I'm so proud of larluce for posting their first story after wanting ME to write it. As if I could have done it justice. It's so good for a first work and yeah... I'm very proud of them.
5. My soul has your claim, my soul is in flames
(Voltron) i'm currently reading that due to my online friend's suggestion and it's just... Maybe it's because I'm currently obsessed with it but it really is just that good. It's everything I want from a voltron fanfic :) obliviousness, pining, misunderstandings, and reassurance and Lance's death reveal. Like... Yeah. I'm a sucker for this story.

There are probably a lot more on my list but I'm REALLY bad at remembering stuff XD I remember when I stumble on them. I just listed the ones that are at the top of my head. Sorry it's not a full ten :/ I actually write more than I read too. When I start reading, my mind gets ideas and then I have to write them down and I somehow rarely finish fics over 100k words.

By the way, I haven't read "like the cycle of the year" yet. It's been on my list for a while but I haven't gotten around to it. I know it's a fandom favorite. But maybe that's what's putting me off. It'll probably make me feel inadequate after reading it and comparing it to my stuff and then I'll feel bad about my writing. Which would by both oddly motivating and off putting, lol.
As a little bonus, I'll just say what I'm currently working on/planning to work on for now.
1. second chances (Drarry)
I've been writing on that one for over a year. Which is the longest I ever spend on a fic and also the longest fic I've ever worked on in total and also the one I most edited. I'm writing it for my girlfriend. I feel like I'm getting closer to the end and I will post it once it's finished.
Jkr sucks, by the way. She'd probably hate the story which satisfies me greatly.
It's a time travel au, obviously, in which Drarry was a muggle therapist after the war. The magical world doesn't respond well to the idea of therapy but that's not Draco's concern even though it should be. He just wants to atone for his sins. Being thrown back in time gives him that chance... But it also awakens deep traumatic issues while he struggles to help the good side and betray his parents and friends in the meantime. It's very analytical of his character and he suffers a lot and it's a lot of fun to do.
2. Karak'nirir- the goddess of creation (Voltron)
A Lance centric Voltron fanfic in which he is gifted the power of a goddess. I'm trying to get back into world building and well... I just really love Lance XD
3. The clockroom (BBC Merlin)
... It's on hiatus... Again. It's so hard to find the time to work on it. But I will... At some point. Probably. I hate unfinished business.
4. ... I'll probably focus on the Merthur marriage concept next. In which Arthur tries to raise Merlin's status and has Merlin learn magic in order to defeat Emrys. Cause then Merlin would be druid king and they can get married XD i want to apply some stuff I'm currently learning through "my soul has your claim" and maybe that will change how I write in the long run, too.
5. .... I should be working on a book that's publishable. Maybe feedback from professional book sellers will help me improve my work also.
By the way... Having 4 wips kills my brain. I hate it. One fic at a time. That's how I work best. It's too much for me. I'm dying. I have no ideas how other people do it.

you went on a big asking spree asking about everyone's favorite games, but I'm curious... did you have a favorite album, TV show, or movie this year?
an EXCELLENT question! but my answers my be a little disappointing, because...
Favorite Movie of 2023
i don't... really watch movies? they don't capture my interest or investment like games do. this isn't for lack of trying over the years, i've been exposed to many different genres; i just don't click with the format, i guess. i think of them like the average boomer thinks of games – they're cute little distractions and not much else.
there's definitely a few movies that i like and stand out as formative memories, i just don't go out of my way to watch more. even before the pandemic i would only ever go to the theaters like once a year, and for most of the pandemic i can't say i watched anything even digitally.
...but that did change this year! my partner and i watched both Sonic movies and the Mario movie at home, and of the three i can safely say i enjoyed Sonic 2 the most! i like what it was trying to do with its two stories intertwined, and it gave Sonic and friends a lot of time to shine both in action and characterization. plus the finale was super cool~
i do have a handful of films i want to watch one day... but it's kind of a "whenever i feel like it" basis. the ghibli films are high on the list, as are the monty python films and the truman show. maybe i could revisit ferris bueller's day off now that i'm an adult...?
Favorite TV Show of 2023
...i also don't really watch tv?? am i boring???
i mean, historically, i've gotten more into tv than movies. i like the long continuous plot threads, i like getting to know characters in detail, i like slice of life and comedy and cartoons. i have fond memories of watching sonic x, spongebob, survivor, and mythbusters growing up!
but like, as an adult i've never seen the office, or steven universe, or adventure time... and i'm in no rush to, they're just not really priority for me. i can't even think of other shows i might want to watch. idk!
i tried to watch some anime at one point but that didn't really do me either? i guess i had some fun watching squid girl a few years back... i think i just get understimulated by just watching things, vs playing them.
confusingly, you know what i do get into? livestreams and let's plays. so my weird, cop-out answer of "favorite series" is that i've been really enjoying Chuggaaconroy's let's play of pokemon bw2. his let's plays have gotten me caught up with a series that i wasn't "allowed" to play as a kid... i guess that's part of why watching someone play a game isn't as understimulating to me?
Favorite Album of 2023
you can probably guess where this is going – i don't really listen to music that plays on the radio or gets recommended by spotify. i have good reason for this one though: music with lyrics is overstimulating to me in specific circumstances, like when i'm working (always) or driving (the only time i'd use the radio).
but wait, movies are understimulating, even though there's talking... and music with lyrics is overstimulating, even though there's nothing to watch... argh! i don't even understand myself!!
either way i usually put on video game music, because that helps me focus at work, and (usually) doesn't have lyrics in it. i'm aware there's plenty of great instrumental music outside of just games, but games already have so much variety and quality to their osts – i've rarely ever had to seek out more! my music collection is already big enough!
my favorite album to listen to this year has been the music that plays in the cyberspace stages of Sonic Frontiers. the full game's ost is MASSIVE and incredibly diverse in styles, but the hardcore EDM of the cyberspace stages is extremely my style. and the remixes they added in the dlc are some of the best ones! been listening to the full playlist multiple times a week all year to power through some rough work days, and it still hasn't gotten old 💖

Is it possible to get all of the ROs to use MCs chosen nickname in this game? So far I have only managed to get S and B to use the chosen nickname. Obviously some of them choose their own, looking at you, W, but I was curious if that was possible for all of them in the first game.
I am loving the release and replaying to find all the tiny variations. Cannot wait to see the mystery unfold! 💕

For Book One, B will immediately use the MC's chosen nickname since you're friends with them, while S can eventually make the offer to use it if you grow closer to them during the course of the story. If you don't get asked by them in Book One, that's okay; there will be future chances to get to know them and they can ask again later!
The MC also has a choice about if they are okay with S using it since S is thoughtful enough to ask; that moment is sweet to me. 😊
R is rather stubborn; they will stick to the MC's surname/last name since that's kind of their thing since you're former childhood rivals. It can and will change depending on romance and your friendship, just not in this book. J is similar; they prefer to use the MC's name rn. It's an interesting observation as to why J wants to keep it on a first name basis rather than a nickname one, especially if you headcanon/imagine your MC has the same childhood nickname instead of a new one. >.>

14- what’s your worst writing habit?
According to whom? If I go by all the writing advice onthe web, I should say "editing as I write". Like no, I can't keep of drafting if I see a typo two lines above what I'm writing, and if I go back and see something doesn't check, I need to fix it before I continue (unless it's, like, having to write a whole extra scene, in which case I do use a placeholder.)
In terms of what I consider a bad habit of mine, it's how easily I get distracted and sucked into rabbitholes not related to the thing I'm writing.
My husband would probably say I type too loudly 😆Sorry I'm so old I learned with a manual typewriter
51-share the synopsis of a story you work on that you haven’t published yet
Hmmm I don't know if I want to reveal much yet... it's arumika set after canon and before the events of my fic Not a Pirate. They will have to navigate a situation that shakes the basis of their relationship.
I may have made that sound deeper than the fic is sorry.
I've also one set right after the RtS which I was this close to putting up on AO3 but decided against it at the last minute bc the last part of it will likely go as a flashback in the first one I mentioned. I'll see.

I wrote about 600 words of a RM royal AU about 2 years back but I couldn't find the inspo to continue. I tried to adapt an original plotbunny of mine into AoT fanfic but I can't seem to get into it enough. Plus, I was in the middle of writing Clarity and my priority was (and still is) that universe. I'm not sure if I'll ever go back to it - or whether I'll ever write it as the original story. (weirdly enough, though I came with the idea before getting into the AoT fandom and more specifically rivamika, the main pair had an age gap and he was shorter then her.)
75-do you know how your story ends before you start writing?
Usually, yes. I don't really sit to write a story unless I know how I want it to end. Whenever I've dived into a story without having the ending clear, I've lost inspiration in no time.
However, knowing the end does not, unfortunately, keep me from losing inspiration/interest/faith from time to time. Especially if there are things that aren't clear in the middle too. That's the problem for instance with my current "on permanent hiatus" original story. I'm very satisfied with the start and I know how the ending should play, but I don't know how to solve the moddle without making it too boring or making it look like the end came from nowhere. It bugs me bc this was is to be the final story in a series of 4, and I don't want to leave it as a series of 3... Sorry, I'm rambling.

ok misc stream thoughts!!!
ANYWAY livestream over nice 30 pulls of aventurine funds for anni!!!! they didnt do anything insane but honestly it was kinda cope to expect them to, ratio for free was clearly a more of a spontaneous move and hes available throughout anniversary anyway so the "another 5*" were.... a little over the top im sorry wjkjwdjkwdjk altho i wouldnt have complained obviously. a free himeko or sth couldve been on theme for the cosmodussy event but eh cant be helped
im actually glad for the skippability of the reruns 😭😭 like i have luocha n jingliu (+ LC for latter) so by skipping acheron for now im gonna have a nice time getting aventurine and most likely his LC (2/3 of his 4* LC selection is so sad tho), love that fucker hope he gets to do proper mayhem in story too. cool death talk please dont actually die yourself for real for real tho i will be sad. like i do think its based of aventurine to pull off a stunt that appears to be what we in the business might call a certified chapter 5 komaeda moment but. ahahaha nooo dont actually die youre such a funny hat man .
(also sick boss form is sick but . bootleg FL im sorry aventurine. they hit perfection already and theyre never fucking topping the galaxy cape cyclops eye beak mask drip i swear JSWJWJDKWJKDWJK but also yes me biased? in favor of that ginger? i could never)

leakers public shaming session was definitely a jumpscare but i do genuinely empathize w shaoji on that one. like. ive always been one for kit + banner leaks first and foremost and story leaks just. i dont care for them much. ive had my share of looking at them occasionally but i definitely agree with the way story leaks either by themselves or when misconstrued and misinterpreted really fucking mess with the intended experience for any given story and how that must feel like shit for the writers. like if story leaks stopped happening altogether id be perfectly content. and thats just ppl who look at story leaks on purpose cuz. im not going to even begin w how like. yes the leaks subreddits and most big leakers do spoiler warnings and keep the story stuff spoilered. but then theres literally the entire rest of the internet where shit gets spread untagged and without warnings the second they are posted anywhere at all and how that fucking ruins peoples experiences. like its 1 thing to click at a spoiler tagged post knowingly and get ur experience messed up with. but when u dont even want to see it its rly fucking bad and i v well understand condemning all story leaks (even those properly flagged) just on that basis alone. but yeah actually felt bad for him there and see where he was coming from for sure, even as a consumer of leaks

& also have to say im v happy they clarified their stance on hi3rd references like. the way theyre going abt it is absolutely how it should be going. hsr by nature is more directly linked to hi3rd like honkai is in the name but its such a dumbass idea (like some fan takes out there....) to want the stories of hsr depend on another games lore. rewarding old fans with easter eggs and tidbits is perfectly fine and im even interested in seeing where they go with acherons obvious raiden situation - especially knowing theyre not about to ruin their own story with "it was hi3rd all along!" (not that i ever rly thought theyd seriously blunder that bad lmao 💀) . so yea thats neat
i think story wise im not gonna say much of my thoughts bc unfortunately i have clicked on like. a leak or four. not the major stuff i dont think but enough that commenting on stuff w some of the things im aware of in the periphery is going to tint stuff . but im still excited to see where things go!!!
AAND OH. ACTUALLY i do have one more thing . so the multiple POV thing being actually implemented is SOOOO good im so fucking happy theyre committing to it being a thing 😭😭😭 like SO many story pitfalls can be avoided by just letting it be that TB doesnt need to be fucking everywhere a major thing happens as the centerpiece of events so we as players can see it. like it gives a way of showing different events and sides of characters in a much more natural manner its sooo good that theyre implementing it already. like this alone has me in such high hopes for the story going forward. like yea theyve branched from our POV before already and in penacony as well but expanding on it even more is 100% the correct way forward

Okay so my experience today - I would say it was good, like cathartic, and I feel wrung out and peaceful now, but it was not pleasant. I cried a lot.
One complicating factor is that I am prone to reflux, and shrooms are hard on the tum, so doing more of them ended up giving me some of the worst reflux I’ve ever had. It’s still bad now.
I got hardly any visual stuff. I assumed I’d have more! But I kept checking the tiles in my bathroom, which usually become swirly and endlessly entertaining when I’m tripping, and they just never moved!
I couldn’t figure out what I wanted to do, and nothing felt “right.” Like I tried listening to a guided meditation but the guy’s voice annoyed me. I tried to read a short story but words didn’t make sense lol. I wanted to fold laundry but I also really didn’t want to. Etc etc.
I think it was still good though - it made me confront the fact that I spend so much time drowning out my own thoughts. I’m either listening to something or watching something or playing a game on my phone or obsessing over what I need to be doing/staying busy, that I rarely just…think thoughts, or listen to myself. I don’t give myself much room to have ideas or let my creative brain play.
So during the trip I felt like I was making myself listen to myself and it was very uncomfortable. I jotted down thoughts and notes which mostly don’t make sense now, but I kept writing “I want to get warm.” Literally, my feet were cold, but I also had this powerful feeling that I wanted to get as warm as possible like a lizard on a rock. I decided that meant I should go back to hot yoga, which is something I used to do a lot and really loved it but it’s been years.
That’s sort of a mundane “revelation,” but it was part of a larger revelation that I am almost never doing just one thing at a time, aka I’m never really present. So, booking a yoga class is easy, I’ll go do that. But I need to also do things like…take a walk in my neighborhood without wearing headphones to listen to an audiobook.
Another cool thing that happened was, I was thinking about my family and how much I love them, and what I can do for them. Which is why I kind of got focused on laundry - E is always running out of socks and so I was thinking about how me doing laundry is an act of devotion, that allows my kids to feel prepared to face the day because they have the clothes they need (?!) …and then I was wondering what I could do for Jeremy, and then it came to me that I had been reading the book Come as You Are, at my therapist’s recommendation, to try to be more aware of my sexuality and so on. I have the paper book and the audiobook. I prefer the audiobook, but I had hit a wall because there’s a part where you need to look at the physical book to take a quiz on your sexual temperament. And so I STOPPED DEAD with this book, for MONTHSSSS, on the basis of needing to take the quiz to be able to read the next chapter. So I made myself go get the book and do the quiz! Which turned out to be like ten very quick questions on two pages, but it still made me very emotional and I was crying over it. So, that was cool - it felt like I was very concertedly breaking through something there.
So, a positive if not enjoyable experience. Curious to see if the peaceful acceptance feeling I have right now sticks around tomorrow.

Tag game #3 (man, I am cranking these out today). I was tagged by the amazing @rebelrebelwrites. We had so many of the same choices! This was a fun one to realize what I rewatch on a regular basis plus thinking about the ones that really hit home for me. The comfort shows and the masterpieces may actually be in order of favorite 🥰
#1. Current Hyperfixation - The Rings of Power: Was there any doubt that this would be on here?
#2. Comfort Show - Once Upon a Time: Ok, so I never finished this one, but seasons 1 & 2 were pretty amazing. Plus Rumbelle.
#3. Comfort Show - The Vampire Diaries: Delena forever, friends. Those later seasons eventually got better!
#4. Comfort Show - She-Ra and the Princesses of Power: I know this was technically “meant” for kids, but the themes of friendship and for what it means to have the possibility of change were really powerful. The LGBTQ+ rep was stellar, as well, with the found family characterization off the charts.
#5. Masterpiece - Fleabag - The way this show hits is incredible. So funny and emotional, and the writing is some of the best I’ve ever seen.
#6. Masterpiece - Avatar: The Last Airbender: What more can be said of this true masterpiece. The story development, character development, pacing, etc. It’s all incredible. And Zuko - one of the best character arcs of all time.
#7. Masterpiece - Ted Lasso: The major themes of forgiveness and the transformative power of belief and community make me cry while it’s still one of the funniest shows I’ve seen in ages. I have literally watched the first season 8 times.
#8. Masterpiece - Our Flag Means Death: I don’t even know what to say to express how much I love this show. The absolute lack of queer baiting, the emotional arcs, the musical cues and choices, etc. etc. This show is everything to me and deserves to finish in all its glory (come on HBO…don’t fuck this up…)

so. the show ended in.. 2007. and. god the last episode sucks so fucking bad. bad enough that the fandom as a whole collectively agrees it does not exist it never happened . phantom planet isnt real phantom planet cant hurt you if you dont look at it or think about it ever. i could go on a whole. rant about how much phantom planet sucks but instead ill just say butch hartman (<< creator of the show) is a fucking. annoying awful person and he was greedy + wanted more money from nickelodeon than they were willing to give him so they gave him a hard limit on episodes before the shoe would be canceled. so. season 3 goes downhill SO fast and ends with the fucking disaster that is phantom planet . and !!! you know how disappointing it is to have your facorite show have a garbage ending!! it sucks!! so then there was like. a HUGE HUGE long silence where there was. 0 canon content bc hartman considered it a flop and kind of just. abandoned it until he wanted clout (there were a few gameboy games that came out after the show ended + some nickelodeon games that included danny as a character + butch made a youtube channel where he would spout absolute death of the author garbage about the show every time he wanted attention but it was mostly dead silence) UNTIL. AGIT. A GLITCH IN TIME IS THE FIRST CANON SHOW COMPLIANT CONTENT THAT HAS BEEN RELEASED SINCE 200 GODDAMN 7. FUCK . and not only is it canon compliant it is ALSO A CONTINUATION OF MY FAVORITE EPISODE IN THE WHOLE SERIES.
so. my favorite episode. is ultimate enemy. it was one of the 4 movie-length episodes and the basic premise is. danny uses his ghodt powers to cheat on a huge standardized test and this sets off a butterfly effect reaction that leads to a timeline where his family + friends get killed in an explosion and he loses his mind and turns into the worlds most powerful villain <3 you can see why i like it so much im sure (<< guy who has a documented chronic weakness for stories where a good guy turns bad etc)
SO AT THE END OF THE EPISODE. Dan (the evil future danny) is trapped and locked away forever . but at the end of the ep theres a scene that hints to a possible future episode where he escapes !!!! so there was always a teased sequel but this sequel was never created due to aforementioned. budget issues and cancellation. etc. buggest disappointment of my life. UNTIL AGIT !!!!!!!!!!!!!
it was released. july of this year . and i am just reading it now bc its been burning a hole in my bedside table bc it never felt like the right time to read it until this morning for some reason. and fuck its so good its literally everything i wanted.
i dont know how involved butch hartman was in the creation of it but the author (gabriela epstein) is obviously someone who cares deeply about the show and the characters and im so fucking happy about it she did an incredible job. i literally had to pause a handful of times in the first few pages just because the characters and dialogue were written so well and it was like SUCH a breath of fresh air (the fandom is. so bad. its so bad. because its been around for so long people have such insane warped takes on a lot of the characters and its become completely unbearable to me ive had to block the tag and its so painful. this is literally the only reason i am not reblogging dp content constantly. i have to filter it through artists i know can handle the characters properly. if i was not nerfed by the awful fandom it would be 24/7/365 dp lockdown and id be so unbearable) OH ALSO not only is agit a continuation of my alltime favorite episode, it also retcons the garbage pile that is phantom planet in a way that acknowledges that it was a real thing that happened but going back on it in a way that feels so so so so natural for the show. so it wasnt a throwaway "no that was bad lets forget about it" it was a well crafted well thought out "this was real and it sucked and the characters remember it BUT we can play with timeline so things will continue as normal" and . holy shit it was so fucking good. i will begrudgingly acknowledge phantom planets existence if only for agit.

*This is a direct sequel to The Deal and this time Frieza plans on making a few adjustments to the deal he made with Epic Games.*
A knock sounded outside the office door within the Epic Games headquarters.
“Come in.” The CEO said while skimming through the paperwork.
The door opens to reveal a small elderly blue woman with lavender hair and wore a Frieza Force attire. “Good afternoon sir. I am Berriblu. I have been sent here on behalf of my master; Lord Frieza to check on the current status of implementing his skin into Fortnite and to remind you of your deadline.”
Letting out an audible gasp at the mention of Frieza’s name, the CEO stood up and hurriedly walked over to Berriblu with his face draining of color. “We’re still working on it! I’m sorry if Lord Frieza was displeased with the Gohan and Piccolo skin. Please rest assure that we haven’t forgotten about the deal but it takes time when considering other collaborations that we’d like to do in the near future!”
“Good to hear. Although my lord has been thinking about the technicalities of implementing and coding the skins into the game since the last time he was here. He has decided to extend the deadline if you are not able to do so this year.”
The CEO sighed in relief. “Thank you.”
Berriblu then held up her index finger. “But only on one condition.”
“What condition would that be?” Asked the CEO nervously.
“Starting today either I or my lord will be checking in on a monthly basis to ensure the progress of inserting his skin into the game goes smoothly and that no one should forget about it. Would that be alright with you?” Berriblu asked with a sinister smile on her wrinkled face.
“Y-yes ma’am.” The CEO nodded shakily.
“Very well then. I will inform my lord of this.” Berriblu was about to leave when she stopped half way out the door. “Pardon me but I couldn’t help but notice that a trio of young men were waiting to speak with you about a collaboration.”
“Oh?”
“Yes. One had a pig mask on, the other was a brightly colored yet timid person and the last one had a scar on the corner of his forehead. That one was a rather polite young man.”
“Ah yes. That would be Inosuke, Zenitsu, and Tanjiro from Demon Slayer.” The CEO said. “It’s a very popular anime these days and fans are asking for a collaboration.”
“Hm. Well that will make things much more interesting. Have a good day.” Berriblu said as she floated out. At the back of her mind she couldn’t help but feel curious about the girl in the box who peeked out a bit before closing the door when the elderly woman passed by the trio of boys.

*Note: There is no news of Fortnite having a Demon Slayer collaboration at this time. But I wanted to hint that possibility into this short story because who wouldn’t want to play as everyone’s favorite demon, Nezuko. She’s freaking adorable!*

Speaking from what is strictly shown in canon do you think PV loved WL? Or at the very least do you think this is what the artist/writers, VAs, and developers were trying to convey? I know it’s a very common sentiment in the fanbase but let’s be honest, two cookies interact and at least half the fandom starts shipping them. Just goes to show how desperate the shippers are. Romantic and/or platonic I am curious to hear your thoughts on what was intentionally shown of their relationship in canon.
Okaaaaaaaay. So, to discuss this we're gonna need to discuss how Devsis handles romance in Cookie Run.
Romance in Cookie Run is almost purely subtextual and based on little signs and notes in the ways characters act/speak of one another/etc. As it's just not a focus of their writing; they aren't out to write a story where romance is at its center. The three most famous examples I'll use is Sea Fairy, RaspRose, and MintCocoa.
The only outright romantic relationship that is explicitly romantic is between Princess' parents: two npcs who are shown as romantic purely by virtue of being married.
Sea Fairy's feelings for the moon equaling her feelings for Moonlight is subtextually shown in various material: both in game but especially in content outside of the game. From the 'I Want You Everyday' music video, to merch such as a series of cups they made a while back where one of them featured those two. Moonlight's feelings are more vague (cause everything about her is vague), but the text is pretty clear in that Sea Fairy holds special feelings for Moonlight. We don't need a long confession that'd be out of place of CR writing to show this.
RaspRose and MintCocoa are similar to one another, where feelings are shown. Either one sided (as in RaspRose, where Rose's feelings are left vague), or mutual with MintCocoa. Neither of them have done things explicitly romantic or had a confession scene in game, but various sources show that there is a deeper meaning intended for their relationship...
Now to go back to the original question... do I think such subtext applies to Pure Vanilla's feelings for White Lily?
I think it is more complicated than the previous three in his case. We know the two were friends since childhood, even if they had a break. So them having a close relationship could easily be chocked up to that. Plus he cares a lot about his other friends. But other things, such as the Love Quiz Devsis put out that features art of Lily and of which there was also cut art of PV, as well as PV going the extra mile for Lily specifically (having an entire section of his home dedicated to her) suggests possible feelings. Plus the way Lily longs for Pure Vanilla could be read as romantic as well (her dialogue in the first chapters, the way her artbook description describes her longing, etc).
I'd say Pure Vanilla and even PureLily as a relationship is close if not similar to MintCocoa and RaspRose. It definitely, of all the relationships between the ancients, has the most canon basis behind it of all the ancients ships. Plus it being featured/hinted at in romance centered events similarly to RaspRose, MintCocoa, and Sea Fairy gives it credence. That doesn't make it the best ancient ship as that's subjective, but I find people turning their relationship unhealthy when it isn't in poor taste due to what I outlined above.
If you prefer to read their relationship as purely platonic/friendship? That's perfectly fine, I know people who do that with MintCocoa. I wanna stress that me pointing out how 'my ship has canon basis' (as I won't say I don't ship PureLily) isn't saying it's better than the other ancient ships (I mean hell my current passion is HollyLily for personal reasons). But I definitely can see how the subtext is there.

Enyo! Thank you for the kind good luck you sent in your reply. My Dan Heng is getting stronger. I just maxed some of his relics and he started dealing 2000 damage. I don't know what to say but I am happy. I want to pat him in the head and praise him and the others for doing their best today. And welcome to the team Sushang! I finally decided to level her up after I lost Tingyun to her in Jing Yuan's banner.
Also, the fic made me melt especially Blade's. He sounds so cute in it. It makes me want to tease him. Not only him but also Dan Heng. Sampo is all over you and embarrassing you one way or another with his loud dramatic comments to even tease him. I don't think I can tease Jing Yuan, I'll be too busy blushing at him just existing. Him smiling as soon as he sees you online again, that soft and gentle look in his eyes and you're at loss of words.
I’m delighted that you got inspired with that random musing. I just can't help think of them being “alive” and hearing you through the screen. Me who thinks that my stuffs toys are alive, I might as well delude myself that they have “life”. And the delusion worsens when something out of the ordinary happens with your favorite character and you think they are responding to you in some way.
Maybe it's just a stroke of luck for my Dan Heng but he needs to take responsibility for dragging me to Honkai Star Rail. This man did not only made me dream of him but also made me fall for his looks, his voice, voice overs, and something about him being knowledgeable and his reserved personality. I guess, I found my ideal type already. I can't help but stress that he came home thrice as I prayed he'll come home — imagine pulling on a 5 star banner for a 4 star character. That's me too on Silver Wolf's banner when I saw Dan Heng in it. So, I don't know how to feel if he leaves the astral express when he becomes Imbibitor Lunae. I might still be able to play him, yes, but I feel sad thinking about it. Wahhh...

i'm the same,, i've been playing genshin since release and my brother one day went like "yo the developers of genshin brought out a new game, did you already download it ?" and i was like nahh but i got curious, did some research, saw dan heng and was like DUDE i'm gonna play this game,, and then i found out he was one of the free characters and i think i ascended from happiness sjdjfh he's just so perfect and i fully relate to you. his looks, his personality, his voice, he's just so hhh i'm down bad for him nonnie ;_; WAIT HE'S GONNA GO ? okay i was already afraid of that happening but i'm not ready for it to ACTUALLY happen help ??

Hi hello oh my gosh what a fun story! I'm glad to have been the catalyst for you liking Ikegen, and any time you want to screech about the characters or story I am always game to ;)
As for the backstory between Benkei and Kagetoki, it's Complicated for sure…but pretty fascinating. And I have written half an essay behind this cut LOL, all spoilers of course:
In Kagetoki's route we really get into the meat of the issue, when in that Seven Samurai setting I mentioned before Kagetoki and MC are forced to team up with a reluctant Benkei (who had been in the village for his own purposes) to free the townfolk. The two men call an VERY uneasy truce to deal with the situation, and MC eventually asks the story of what happened between them when she, Kagetoki, Benkei, and Yoichi are pressed into taking shelter together overnight during a storm when the fighting ends.
In history, as well as in the game, Kajiwara Kagetoki was originally on the side arrayed against the Minamoto - but eventually he changed his alliance. When Kagetoki first came to meet Benkei before the schism between bros, they did NOT get along despite being allies, with Kagetoki having been sent by Yoritomo to help Yoshitsune out. Benkei took issue with the way that Kagetoki planned his strategies and at one point literally shoved him against a tree and angrily told him that if he tried to make a target of anyone other than himself, he'd kill Kagetoki. (AKA you can use me as bait or a distraction etc but you can't do that to the rest of the soldiers, because as WE readers know at least, Benkei has super healing and can take a LOT of things dished out on him)
They were off to a rocky start for certain, and Kagetoki took Benkei at his word, using him freely in his tactics and plans, with Benkei still threatening to have his head on a near-daily basis. But a sort of grudging respect formed between them, Benkei allowing that Kagetoki is a brilliant man and Kagetoki reluctantly admiring Benkei's foritude and will. Things finally culminate in Benkei saving Kagetoki's life when he gets in a tough spot during battle (Kagetoki coming to witness first hand how seemingly nothing can take Benkei down) and they even literally do the FIGHT BACK TO BACK. Benkei trusting Kagetoki to think them a way out of the mess and Kagetoki trusting Benkei to be able to pull it off.
Feeling indebted to Benkei for saving him, kagetoki goes to thank him as he's recovering, but Benkei waves it off and says he wants Kagetoki to swear an oath to him instead - that he'll use that terrifying brain of his to save countless lives in the future. Thousands, tens of thousands…and Kagetoki isn't sure he can do something as crazy as that but he agrees, just as Benkei agrees to be the sword he can wield freely to make it happen.
After that they became close friends, though still of the 'I might kill you today' variety, always hanging out. But shortly after the Genpei war ending things started to break down between Yoritomo and Yoshitsune, and a letter from Kagetoki to Yoritomo led to him declaring Yoshitsune a rebel (this is a historical fact as well, it's said that Kagetoki's testimony and coercion led to Yoritomo turning on Yoshitsune). So many of their men died as a result of this declaration that Benkei feels he can never forgive Kagetoki for turning Yoritomo against them, especially since he feels Kagetoki of all people should know that Yoshitsune isn't a traitor.
In essence, you have a conflict of loyalty vs pragmatism between the two men. Benkei, who embodies loyalty and emotional bonds to comrades, cannot wrap his head around ever turning one's back on someone. Meanwhile Kagetoki feels that the end justifies the means, and if it means keeping his oath to Benkei and ending this fighting with the least lives lost and the best outcome for everyone, loyalty has no place in the discussion. It's merely about who he feels can bring about the results he needs - in this case, Yoritomo rather than Yoshitsune.
(This is in fact the central theme of his route and personality, a scenario that comes up over and over again)
Benkei is bitterly wounded by Kagetoki's betrayal, especially given his kind-hearted character…but Kagetoki carries the scars of it as well, even if he hides it better or doesn't perceive it as well. He still holds that oath he made to Benkei tight in his heart, and he respects and admires Benkei on some levels for having the sense of righteousness that Kagetoki understands he lacks. He's been told even as a child that he was missing something essential, that he's a brain with no heart, in essence. Seeing someone like Benkei, who is so much heart, fostered a very keen sense of respect in Kagetoki - even when by the same stroke he feels it is Benkei's biggest flaw and despairs that it will be the death of him someday.
