nature things that a lot of people don't know about and weren't even taught about adequately, but they're actually really fundamental and important to know about
how rivers work. Where do they get started? how do they decide which way to flow?? what makes one river muddy and the other one clear?
[They flow downhill. Always. If a river is flowing a Way, that way is Downhill. They start with rain flowing or soaking downhill until it forms into a little trickle through a channel like a gully or drainage ditch, and the farther it flows the more other trickles flow into it from the land around it, until you have a stream, and the streams all flow downhill until they run into each other, and eventually you have a river which finally reaches the ocean. Rivers never flow FROM the ocean because the ocean is the most downhill you can possibly go. I don't think rivers usually split in two—a fork in a waterway is usually two rivers joining together.]
[On the subject of pollution, rain is usually supposed to soak slowly through the layer of leaves, roots, and dead plant material that covers most biomes. But if you tear up the plants and leave bare mud, or replace a forest with a muddy cow pasture, there's no filter, and mud and contaminants wash into the river. Just plain mud can be pollution.]
how soil works. What makes different soils different? Why are some soils good for growing a garden and others terrible? Does it need more fertilizer?

Roots, soil animals, fungi, and dead plant material are all part of soil and affect its structure, making it spongy and full of holes and passages for nutrients, water, and new roots. [fungi cannot harm you unless you eat them or unless they're growing inside your house and you're inhaling their spores in a concentrated space. There's like, one species in Japan that causes skin irritation. You can touch any other species without any harm whatsoever. *Most* of them don't harm your garden either—in fact, most plants connect their root systems to the fungal mycelium in the soil and receive nutrients from the fungus in exchange for the products of photosynthesis.]

[no. They're just hanging out. But a LOT of lichen on a tree might be a sign that the tree is dying. It's not the lichen's fault though.]
What moss is??
[it's a plant, but a very simple plant that doesn't have any vessels for transporting water, so it has to live somewhere damp and soak it up like a sponge. There are hundreds of species of moss, and different species live on the side of a boulder vs. the top, or a living tree trunk vs. a fallen dead tree trunk!]
where bugs go in the winter? I straight up had a book as a kid that told me that they just die, without explaining how the species doesn't go extinct if the winter kills them all.
[Tl;dr they're usually hibernating in fallen leaves and dead wood and plant material. Some do this as eggs or larvae/caterpillars; in this case the adults do die, but their children sleep peacefully through the winter to awake in the spring. And still others hibernate as adults. This is why you don't clean up your flower beds until late spring.]

[Competition and cooperation are both important in ecosystems! Weeds are competitive and they can choke out other plants, but they also protect the soil from erosion and harsh sunlight, keeping it moist and helping organic matter to build up. A lot of plants, when they're young, need to be sheltered by other plants that protect them from dryness, heat, and herbivores. This isn't even getting into how some plants will send nutrients to seedlings or to understory plants in a forest! Before industrial agriculture made monocultures dominant, people used and were familiar with cooperative relationships between plants a LOT more.]
The range of creatures that are pollinators, and how important the variety is.
[Bees, wasps, butterflies, moths, flies, ants, beetles, hummingbirds, and bats are all pollinators, and flowers are usually shaped and colored and scented to attract particular pollinators. Bees can't do everything, and honey bees are only one kind of bee. Red flowers and long tube shaped flowers are often for hummingbirds, pale-colored flowers that open at night need moths, and flowers that give off strong foul odors often attract flies. It gets WAY more complicated than that—sometimes a flower is only pollinated by a single species of bee or wasp or beetle.]
How many bees there are besides honey bees
[LOTS. And you've probably never seen most of them, if you don't regularly spend time around native plants! There are 140 species of longhorn bee alone, and most people haven't even heard of longhorn bees! There are well over a hundred bumble bees too! Bees come in bright, metallic green, blue, and pure gold. In the USA where I live, some of the most endangered bees are the adorable, fluffy bumble bees—the American Bumble Bee is threatened, and we have some species, like the rusty-patched bumble bee, that are critically endangered.]
[Please, please, please do not use pesticides on plants unless it is a necessity, and please do a LOT of research on the specific pesticide you are using and its effects on non-target insects. If there is any alternative, Do Not Do It. ESPECIALLY not pesticides that come in dust or powder form, ESPECIALLY in the USA, because regulations are so loose here that regular people can buy pesticides in dust form that are horribly toxic to bees.]
[How horribly toxic? A pesticide like Sevin dust will cling to the fuzz on every single bee that visits your plant—like pollen—and those bees will probably die. And in social bees, before they die, they will take the poison back to their hive (like pollen) and potentially kill the entire hive.]

The rain beats against the windshield, his knuckles tight against the steering wheel as the headlights slice through the inky black of the night. Tim doesn’t pay attention, he can’t. The blare of the police radio cuts through the silence in the car, his thoughts racing in circles as he drives as if he’s on autopilot.
Sharp winds whip around his car outside, an annoyance of white noise in the background that only makes his blood pressure rise when it shakes his little car. He knows the address he’s driving to. He knows it by heart.

“I just wish you would put me first once.” You express as he jams the loose items that are scattered across the dresser into his pockets. Two dollars and thirty-seven cents in change, a pocket knife, a losing scratch off ticket, a receipt from Jimmy’s Hot Dogs, a random mint, the ever present cigarette lighter and his wallet. The badge is tucked into his jacket, along with his car keys, hanging on the coat tree near the front door.
“I got a call.” He huffs, annoyed by the guilt that is settling on his shoulders. “You know the drill.”
“Can you even tell me the last time you ate dinner at home?” The last thing you want is to be cruel to him but you’re trying to make a point. Your husband of seven years and partner of ten has been slipping further and further from your fingers with every passing day and you’re at your wits end with how to get it to stop.
Your name is like a sigh of frustration and he pauses, turning tired eyes on you. He’s tired of the same arguments over and over again. “I’ll be back.” He tells you, turning and walking towards the door.
“Tim, wait!” The anguish that cracks your voice comes with tears — guilty, burning ones that you were trying not to let free. “Please don’t go.”
His resolve cracks and he turns, his hand on the door knob. “Babe, I have to go.” He doesn’t— not really. It’s not his case, but he feels like it’s connected to that fucking mystery that has taken over his life. As soon as he can solve it, he will fix this gully between the two of you. “I’ll be back in a few hours and we can talk, okay?” You don’t answer, but he takes that as your agreement. “I love you.”
“Be safe.” Unable to even bring yourself to say that you love him back — because you do, you absolutely fucking do but right now it feels like he’s just saying the words to placate you — you turn away and slip back into the kitchen. Tim is never home and you work a 9-5, so the chores pile up relentlessly. Maybe you’ll put dishes in the dishwasher and clothes in the dryer and go to bed early.
Walking out the door feels like he is fighting against himself, but the urge to close this case, to finish things off is too great to ignore. He pushes back the sight of your hurt face out of his mind and pulls his cell phone out of his pocket. Walking towards his car, he’s not Tim, your husband, he’s changed into Detective Rockford.

“Detective Rockford?” The primary on the case is already there, and he wasn’t expecting back up. But the seasoned detective that he knows well is a welcome sight, even if Rockford doesn’t quite look himself.
“Hey Jimmy.” Tim gives a wan smile before looking towards the tape. “What do we got?”
The young detective has worked hard for his place on the force and seen plenty, but this one is a lot even for him. “Female. Forties. Stabbed to death in her own living room. Pretty gruesome stuff, honestly, and you know these things don’t usually get to me.”
Tim swallows, closing his eyes and swaying where he stands. “Do—” he chokes out and his voice falters. “Do we have the guy?” He manages after a moment, trying not to cry right there.
“We have tire tracks, finger prints, and plenty of detritus under the vic’s fingernails. She fought hard.” Jimmy shuffles, not used to seeing his mentor this emotional. “Some of the wounds look defensive. And the weapon was left at the scene.”
His lip trembles and he inhales sharply. “Are you— are you sure it’s the homeowner?” He asks shakily, praying for a miracle.
“ID in her purse matches.” The younger man confirms. “Seems like she had barely gotten home. Might’ve been a robbery gone bad, but we need to take a more thorough look before that call gets made.”
Tim shakes his head, body trembling and he screams out your name, rushing towards the house. “Baby! Baby, come out!” He shouts, ducking under the tape and bolting through the door. “Sweetheart? Baby? Answer me!”
“Detective Rockford!” Jimmy swirls to run after him, not understanding what’s caused such a monumental break in his colleague’s behavior. Obviously he knows the victim, otherwise it makes even less sense.
Tim can’t stop, doesn’t even hear Detective Fallon as he rushes into the house and over to the body that is draped in a white sheet, the thick material slowly being soaked red with blood. Choking as he drops to his knees, he reaches up to draw the sheet back.
“Ma’am, you really can’t be—” Detective Fallon’s voice is part of a sea of white noise, unheard and unnoticed by Tim as he reaches for the corner of the sheet he absolutely shouldn’t be touching. “Ma’am, this is an active crime scene!”
But you don’t hear him, blasting past the young detective to stumble into your own living room, where the figure of your sister is crumpled in the middle of the carpet and covered in a sheet. “Get away from her!” Is all you can think to say, burning tears choking anything but fear and anguish out of existence.
Your voice makes him freeze, head whipping up to see you and his eyes widen. Choking out your name, he then whispers— “Is it— are you?”
“Tim?” He’s the last person you ever expected to see again, let alone in this house, but suddenly you’re actually glad for it. He looks like he’s seen a ghost, but you’re shaking with fear for the reality of who is under that sheet.
You are alive. His eyes dart back to the sheet and he looks back at you with a small frown. “You’re here.” He breathes out, immediately understanding. Since the divorce, you had lived with your sister. He stands and moves over towards you. “Baby.” He knows this will hurt you and he wants to take away the pain if he can.
“Is that…” You don’t have to finish the question. The boot poking out from under the sheet is the pair she borrowed from you, and the blood spattered purse with an evidence tag next to it is so familiar you would know it in your sleep. “She accidentally grabbed my purse when she left for work this morning.” You choke out the explanation but lurch forward when your knees buckle and your heart squeezes up into your throat. “Was it—were they—was it supposed to be me?”
“I don’t know.” You are about to break, he’s witnessed enough families to know. Stepping closer, he strokes your arm and looks into your beautiful, devastated eyes. “I don’t know baby, but I’m going to find them. I’m going to find who did this.” He promises.

The fluorescent lights of the station are harsh and the coffee in your hand is burnt, but it's better than being in your house. At this point you doubt you can ever go back there again and you're definitely trying to figure out where you're going to go or what you're going to do once you leave the station.
Tim comes back with a bottle of water for you, offering it to you when he walks up, and exchanges it for the coffee that you aren’t really interested in. “Preliminaries look like it was a mugging/burglary gone wrong.” Tim tells you quietly, aware that he probably shouldn’t say anything about this, period, but this is your sister. And you used to be his wife. “Camera footage from the neighbors show that the suspect approached her when she opened the door.”
"I don't–" Your head bobs in thanks when he takes the coffee from your hands and replaces it with the water bottle, though you still don't do anything but hold it. For your whole life you were always the person to be able to take charge and provide comfort in a crisis. Now that the crisis is your own, you're drawing a blank. "Will they let me go back? For–for clothes and stuff, I mean? I need to find a hotel..."
Tim grimaces. “It’s….still a crime scene.” He tells you reluctantly. “No one goes in right now.” He bites his lip, knowing that the DA would be pissed, but he would log a record of it in the case file. “If you want to make a list, I could get you some things.” He wants to offer to let you stay with him, in the old house you used to share, but that might be too much for you.
"No, I...I don't want you to get in trouble for me." There are strict rules for crime scenes. You were a cop's girlfriend and then wife for long enough to know that. "I can just get some stuff from Target tomorrow. Temporary stuff..."
“I can.” He offers, squatting down to look at you. “Do you have a friend…a boyfriend, where you can stay with them?” He asks, even if the idea makes him sick. He lost you, he has no right to be upset if you’ve moved on. “You shouldn’t be alone tonight.”
"No." For as long as you and Tim were together, he knows you never really had an extensive circle of people close to you. You're an introvert and most of your friends were either his coworkers or the spouses of those coworkers. The friends you made in college have all gone their separate ways by now, and you had had your best friend in your sister. "No it's just Liz and me..." It was just the two of you, anyway.
Tim sighs softly and his brow furrows in concern. “You can— you don’t have to— but, you can stay with me.” He offers, unsure of how you would take his offer. You had told him during the divorce that you couldn’t wait to be done so you would never have to see him again, and circumstance had changed that. He still hasn’t told you he hadn’t had to be at that crime scene. He had just memorized your address and when it came over the radio, his heart had dropped.
"Wouldn't you get in trouble?" That has to be a conflict of interest or something, but the idea of being safe tonight has you shaking all over again when you suddenly jolt at the memory of why you even need safety in the first place.
“No.” Tim shakes his head. “You aren’t a suspect, never were. And the captain knows who you are.” He wants to reach out and wrap his arms around you, keep you safe, but he doesn’t want to overstep. “Or I can get you a hotel. Wherever you want.”
For maybe the first time since you walked into your house to see him standing there, you actually look up a little and meet Tim's eyes. "I don't think I should be alone, either," you admit quietly.
His heart breaks at the loss in your eyes, the sense that you are adrift and unsure of your course. He nods. “Then you don’t have to be alone, sweetheart.”
"There's not...not anyone at home who would be upset?" You have no business being upset if there is – after all you're the one who filed for divorce, not him – but you still stop your hand for reaching for him when it's halfway out.
He doesn’t miss the gesture and reaches out to take your hand. “No.” He promises. “Just a really lazy cat named Twix.” He licks his lips, heart pounding at the touch of your skin against his and he pushes those feelings down. He just means to comfort you. “No one since you left. Your blanket is still on the couch.”
“I—” There's no reason to refuse, and you're a little too shell-shocked at the moment to know whether or not you could actually manage all the logistics of a hotel on your own. Besides – again – the idea of being alone doesn't sit well with you. "Thank you." you manage finally, gripping his hand tightly in gratitude.
“You’re welcomed.” He knows he should get you home, his home, and he squeezes your one last time before letting it go. “Let me go finish up for the night, and we’ll get you settled.”
"Wait." Your hand tightens instinctively, holding him beside you. "Please don't leave?" Even in a room full of bustling people doing their jobs, without Tim beside you, you feel completely alone. And even though you know he has to do his job, you just – you need that comfort for a few minutes more.
It’s the same words that have haunted him for years, the ones you had uttered one desperate night that he had disregarded, signaling the end of your relationship. He regretted that night in the middle of the lonely nights that followed, wishing that he could somehow go back, do things different. He can’t change the past, but he can show you the compassion you need. Shifting to his knees in front of you, Tim looks up at you, his eyes wider than normal as he gives you his promise. “I’m not going anywhere. I’m right here, sweetheart.”

Maja hi! I have some thoughts about marriage stunt but nobody agrees with me because other mods never posted my ask. I just believe it was selling her show (wn) just before its end date of selling. I mean they tried to get a better buyer of it but they couldn’t and gave up. I thought it was because of his tiff movie but yesterday its trailer was released however they didn’t do any stunt. I also want to remind that he never used this stunt to sell his works(tgm, ghosted…) ghosted had bad reviews as well. He didn’t try to cover them. Every actor can have bad reviews, these movies are not his dream jobs. We all know this. Also remember how they tried to wrap up on june. He did alone sightings. He did podcast. But then suddenly they went to bermuda. Just before Simon’s timer and netflix is releasing wn’s rights news. And the marriage rumors, only bad pr to him. But it brought more fame to her. It only works for her again. I think it was last push before wn selling got wrapped up they tried to find a better producer but they couldn’t. If you noticed, after simon’s statement, she deleted her promo post. And we never got any sightings, or even trolling from them. Which we all know it was busy three weeks, sightings, trollings, articles. Actually when there were rumors, Gully was in canada, and justin will be at there too. They made justin posted from pt. L&D rumors debunked by releasing the location by l&d. he also got gene kelly, after these happened. They deleted her from his imdb. Red pill article is deleted as well. It looks like they wrapped up to me. He got what he wanted (GK movie). I feelike we are out of the wood finally.
I'm going to share your ask, but share my thoughts with you.
I really love how positive you're, but I don't know if it's that easy. Talking about his projects, she was at the Ghosted premiere; however, I agree that if this is PR for him, it's definitely not about selling his projects or covering up bad reviews, but more about getting projects or maybe that Gene Kelly project out of it. It's weird she deleted the WN post; I don't really see the point of it, even if they don't want her in the movies (I think there was an article about WN getting 3 movies). I'm actually interested in the fact that if they actually don't want her in it, it is because of the things people found out about her, and because even though more people have gotten to know her because of Chris, most of them don't really like her?
It definitely seemed like in the summer that this whole thing (if this is PR) had come to an end; he deactivated his social media accounts; there were no birthday posts or the whole podcast; but then the whole wedding thing happened.
I wouldn't necessarily say that him having that Gene Kelly project in IMDb Pro and them removing Alba as his wife from it means too much. That Gene Kelly project appears from time to time, or maybe never even leaves, so I wouldn't really put too much hope into that. I'd rather say don't put too much hope into anything they do or say. The only thing we can do is wait and see how this whole thing ends.
The problem here is that if this was only for PR reasons and there wasn't even a wedding, that doesn't really help the situation right now. They either need to fake a divorce or say that there was only a party in MA and they went on a vacation with friends in PT. Acting like nothing happened won't really help. Prior to the whole wedding thing, they could've just simply broken up and gone on with their lives, but that won't be that easy anymore.
These are obviously only plays if this whole thing is PR.

In the 1981 Star Wars Radio Drama, Luke Skywalker and his best friend Biggs Darklighter reunite on Tatooine for one last trip through Beggar's Canyon.

Biggs: Well, they're right about one thing, Luke. The rebellion against the Empire is a long way from here. You know, I doubt the Imperials would bother with this system.
Luke: But I could've sworn I saw-
Biggs: Hey, c'mon, I'll tell you what, let's take a spin in that landspeeder of yours, huh? I'd like to take one last look at Beggar's Canyon, y'know, for old times' sake?
Luke: Sure Biggs. Boy, you should've been there the other day when we ran the canyon. Fixer started bragging about how 'he could do anything that Biggs could do,' you know, so I said 'hey if you're so smart why don't you try...'
Luke: ...yeah, and Fixer just pretended it never happened. Course, my Skyhopper's busted up pretty bad.
Biggs: Oh, I'm sure that made your uncle happy.
Luke: You have no idea. I'm grounded for the rest of the season.
Biggs: Nah, nah, you oughtta take it a little easier, Luke. I mean even if you are the hottest gully jumper this side of Mos Eisley, you keep it up buddy and one day, whammo, you'll be nothing but a dark smear on a canyon wall.
Luke: Hey, why'd you want me to come out to Beggar's Canyon anyway?
Biggs: Like I said, old times' sake. I mean, who knows when I'll be back this way, right?
Luke: I guess. Well, there it is, the old stone needle. You know, you can see practically the whole canyon from this part of the rim.
Biggs: Yeah. Hah, I don't know how I lived through all the crazy stunts we pulled down here.
Luke: I remember some of those. Boy, if we had the 'hopper now we could give those womp rats a surprise.
Biggs: Oh sorry, I am now valuable property. Keeping in mind the expense of cadet training, all graduates shall refrain from unnecessary risk-taking.
Luke: You? They happen to know how many stabilizer veins you bent up on the back stretch down there? Or how about the time you almost wiped out the stone needle?
Biggs: I figured it was better not to mention those to my piloting instructors.
Luke: Boy, it hasn't been the same since you left Biggs. It's been so... quiet.
Biggs: Hah, I'll bet.
Luke: Yeah, you were always number one around here, Biggs. You were the one who made things happen.
Biggs: Well it's a big galaxy, Luke. At the Academy, everybody was number one back where they came from. All of a sudden I was just a face in the crowd.
Luke: Yeah, but you made it, Biggs. You're going to see all those places we used to talk about.
Biggs: Yeah. Luke, did you ever wonder why we're friends?
Luke: Huh?
Biggs: The rest of them, back at Anchorhead, they'll never leave Tatooine. Maybe never get as far as Mos Eisley. Have you ever thought about that?
Luke: Well, not exactly like that I haven't.
Biggs: Fixer's just smart enough to know he's better off being a big noise in a small room. Camie's dumb enough to think she's made the prize catch hereabouts, and Windy's nothing but a follower and Deak's the follower of a follower.
Luke: But- what are you saying, Biggs?
Biggs: You will make it off Tatooine, Luke. And they know it. That's why they won't accept you.
Luke: Huh. Well, they're not so bad, I don't really mind them.
Biggs: Then how come you work so hard at being the hottest pilot around, huh? Hey-- did you see that? Off in the far side of the canyon.
Luke: What, where-- Sand People!
Biggs: You got your macros?
Luke: Yeah, right here.
Biggs: Yep, three banthas and it looks like five Tusken Raiders.
Luke: Yeah?
Biggs: They're moving out towards... the wastes.
Luke: Hey I'm supposed to keep a watch out for them at the farm, my uncle said that there have been some sightings around here, I should get back.
Biggs: I don't think its anything to worry about.
Luke: Well, that's a little excitement for your visit.
Biggs: You only think this planet's boring because you've never been anywhere else, Luke. Luke, I didn't-- I didn't come home just for a visit. If I don't come back, I wanted somebody to know.
Luke: What? Honestly, Biggs, will you stop being so secretive.
Biggs: Luke, I made some friends at the Academy. And one of them will be on the Rand Ecliptic with me. At our first port of call in the inner systems, we're going to jump ship and join the Rebel Alliance!
Luke: But that's crazy! You could wander around forever trying to find them-- look, the Empire can't even find them.

Biggs: I have been doing some thinking, Luke. But, uh-- but you're the same as ever. Hey, tell me, are you still keeping a lookout for that dream girl you used to talk about?
Luke: Hah, I'll know her if she passes by. Biggs, I'm sorry about what I said back there.
Biggs: Yeah me too. Hey, just, let's forget it.

Ok, finally I can sit down and write this!! XD
Ahhh, what a chapter! Lots of new info, a new routine is starting to set in, and we had a bit of a surprise there at the end!!
So first off, we have that slow testing of the waters that is now a little more hopeful and I love it! So much of this chapter had me smiling widely and made my heart melt at so many points!
Like, first of all how the hunter teases the boys for "showing off" hehe! And it got me thinking! Because it never quite occurred to me how much they must have been holding back physically! Obviously they were careful not to exhibit any obviously demonic features, but the fact is that they never really went beyond what an animatronic their size should have been capable of. Always kept at a speed that seemed possible for their form when y/n was paying attention. never did anything that seemed far out of their reach. And when those things must have been so easy if they could have just done it, I bet it got at least a bit tiring hiding what comes naturally for them. It must be so freeing to be able to truly be themselves now! And of course, if they get the chance to show off a little in order to impress their heart haha!
And Oh. My gosh. The moment when Moon was startled by the crossbow! It caught my attention because aside from losing y/n (physically or metaphorically), the boys have not really shown fear. They themselves admit it's not something they tend to feel. They're always on the lookout and not easily taken by surprise, but they could have encountered at least a couple hunters before the one in the cornfield. They know what happens during an exorcism so there must be some instinctual fear when it comes to a hunter's weapons. But even more than that, I wonder if this is similar to y/n's fear of them growing bored and deciding to kill them in the future. But the boys may have imagined worse scenarios in which the hunter decides they actually are a danger and decides to take them by surprise, an attack when they least expect it. Even if they don't truly believe something like that will happen (and they could likely tell because of the heartbeat), the thoughts might have lingered and the sound of the unhooked crossbow put them on edge. (And in some way, that does confirm to y/n that they do consider them a strong person. They have seen them slay other cryptids, after all. So just what would it look like if the hunter, unhindered by the panic and the trauma that came from a demonic encountered, decided to play the long game to hunt them)
But then! Then when y/n realizes what exactly is happening they use the same words that Eclipse used to calm them!! And God if that isn’t such a neat little reversal of the dynamic so far. A promise that despite being someone that could hurt them the must, they will not. And it’s also a way to show the boys they accept their earlier reassurances. Trust is barely building, but Eclipse has repeated “You are safe” as basically a plea. To give them a chance. To beg y/n not to reject them. To try and not to be the source of their distress. And now the hunter is sincerely using those words back. As an apology and a promise. As reassurance. It’s like a direct response to the times the boys said it and I love it so much!
And ooooo we get a conversation about the doppelgänger! Oh I can just imagine now, what their point of view must have been a couple of chapters ago. Before the reveal, the cryptid’s words were just an inconceivable (at least when in denial) lie and its dying scream just a way to hurt and mock them. But then it turned into a reality. How close the expression it mimicked must have looked to reality. The brief chase through the gully an eternity as every hope they had of this working out fine seemed to be disintegrating. And even when the worst had passed, the next whole day they just had no certainty that they would be allowed to stay at all. None of them are happy that the doppelgänger was right about how the reveal would go, but as y/n affirms, that was then and now is now. At the very least, it’s yet another way in which the hunter can see Sun and Moon’s more complex being.
(sidenote: Moon then not even shifting when y/n handles the holy water!! He believes them! They’re safe and the water in the in their heart’s hands presents no more danger to them than the unloaded crossbow! That’s just giving me so many feelings! ;w; )
Oh ho! We also get some more info about the sacred rules! I have some theories about Paahlott but at this point they’re pretty vague for what we know XD I have to wonder how she was able to summon them and why they all agreed to the sacred rules. Maybe their views were all already aligned with what she proposed, since other demons like Shoh seem to hold no fondness for the innocence of children. The defenders of the sacred rules at least seem to rather enjoy and care for the little ones on their own accord, rather than just protecting them with indifference! Lots to think about! Oh and also, it’s so sweet how the boys talk about their family and how they are already considering who would love y/n immediately. It’s such a needed pinch of domesticity sprinkled over the wild last couple of days!
I am also so here for the reflections the hunter makes as they see their true form once again! Knowing that there is good to be witnessed among cryptids, but also knowing that means the sadism is so much worse from those that chose it. Because now it’s not a belief that cryptids are merely mindless and driven by instinct like animals. Some might be, but demons certainly aren’t. So it gives much more significance to both acts of kindness and malice.
And ooooooh that vow and the saltshaker comes up again! In the very next sense in fact! I’m just trying to think of what possible scenarios the hunter might find themselves in to consider breaking the vow. Maybe during an attack the only way to protect themselves would be a salt circle. Maybe, there would be no likely way to perform an exorcism without affecting the boys so y/n keeps them at bay and tries to do it themselves so that they can save Vanessa without risk of losing the boys, even if it places the hunter at great risk themselves. Hmmmm!
And DFKGHSKLÑ the almost kiss though!! Boys please! XD I know they are very eager but gotta slow down a bit there kjdhgfjh And it’s a bit funny but it makes a lot of sense y/n isn’t ready yet, because, even with all the demonic cryptid situation, they have very literally spent a lot of time alone before they met the boys. I bet they didn’t really try for a serious relationship after the incident of their past, and with the animatronic friend it probably didn’t cross their mind as a possibility so far (maybe it would have eventually, but it wasn’t happening soon XD) Now everything is out in the open, Sun and Moon basically confessed to them right after the reveal and the realization that they already have been living together and know and care for each other so much is hitting them in the face all of a sudden! It’s familiar but new, just like everything about the situation, so I can’t blame them for panicking a little haha! Like, that’s a whole kiss!
But aaaahhh then it leads to such a show of trust! ;o; Eclipse says “You are scared” and so the hunter does what absolutely shows that’s not the case. This is the heart eating demon. The one that caused them nightmares after they saw him destroying the rake and consuming its heart. And they show them. They might not realize it, just meaning to get them to listen more closely and tell them that it’s excitement, not fear, but it’s still very much placing all the sharp bits of this demon so close to them. The sharp grin right up to their chest. And knowing fully that they will not be harmed. The boys will not try to rip their heart out. They are allowed close. Closer than anyone else. Because the hunter wants and trusts them to be.
But ough then the pain of knowing what happened to Henry! ;O; He thought he was dealing with Bonnie! No doubt the others had spoken about him! So there must not be actual info about him in the book. I wonder if it was written before the cornfield demon found him. Or if maybe in the book there is research that could be helpful, although it could be misleading if it was lying all along. And oof, of course, that would bring back some doubts. The fate of Henry’s daughter was decided because he trusted the wrong demon. Who’s to say another couldn’t do the same? And ah, it aches but it’s actually a good instinct for y/n to keep it in mind. They are deciding to trust, but not blindly. They already did that and it brought a lot of pain, even if it also brought a lot of good. Now they are considering all the evidence, which tells them the boys are sincere, but they won’t let themselves fall into denial. That’s something their heart probably couldn’t take if they ended up being wrong after all.
And then we continue with Vanessa! Oh these GPS marks have me so intrigued. Is she asking for help and the demon interfering? Is the demon setting a trap? What in the world does it mean! Hmmmm. Aaaah, I’m so worried about her! Not only is she suffering a lot, but what Eclipse said about exorcisms doesn’t bode well for her. As a hunter she must have a lot of strength and will to live, but it must be very tough to remain strong after the sheer amount of time she has been possessed. She must be incredibly tired D: Hhhhhhh knowing how Deep Dreams ends reassures me a little but oooough I can’t help but think it would be just as likely a scenario that she doesn’t make it. And how sad it would be. For y/n, who has been fretting over her, having to do what they must to vanish the demon, but in doing so sealing their friend’s fate. AAAAA the suspense!
But that’s just something you are great at, Naff! You always keep us on our toes! X3
And talking about keeping us on our toes! Oh I just knew those three strangers were not just gonna be passingly mentioned but I didn’t expect FEI to suddenly decide they were actually gonna do something about this! I have so many questions about this organization. Surely, if they are affiliated to the Pizzaplex and knew of both the demon and the vessel (maybe even the makers of the vessel), then it wouldn’t have taken so long to confirm right? The hunters certainly knew what to look for. So why? Were they using y/n as a test for the boys? Were they expecting the demon to kill them and when that didn’t happen they sent someone to take care of it? Just what is their deal?
And oh my gosh when I say that as soon as the female hunter started talking I immediately thought of Cafaro XD And then I gasped and pointed at her name when it came up gñklfjhsgñhj Like hello! Glad to see you! Time to get punched again! Okay bye! You are so lucky that in this life y/n is not a vigilante ready to stab your heart, but a very kind, life-treasuring soul! (Though they do both have a knife when fighting her which is a fun coincidence XD)
(side note (wow only 2 sidenotes this comment kdfhjg) : also very interested in that seal! I know y/n threw it to the ground, but maybe if they find out what it is, it could be used to force the demon into a vessel different then Vanessa, if they can lure it out! Then use that to exorcize it!)
Ok, ok, last thing I wanted to comment on was Singh! Aaahhh it was a bit bittersweet hearing him talk. The fact that he was so genuine about it. He so desperately wanted to save y/n and was trying to be reassuring. Like, he doesn’t blame them from the start. And even if he doesn’t listen, he pays attention. He notices the hand on y/n’s shoulder and assumes it means they are not free to speak. But also he does not miss the way in which Sun is protective of them, although he doesn’t stop to consider it as the others keep pressing the matter. Then when he is holding the hunter, he keeps trying to tell them that they don’t have to be scared anymore! Because they might be resisting out of the fear of retaliation from the demon! Or just because they’re confused because of the possession! And then, when he’s the only one conscious, and he sees them getting away he pleads with the demon! To just let them go and not hurt them. That they don’t have to do this! And wow, of course that would resonate with y/n. We hear similar words in the vampire episode. The hunter wanted to free someone else from their perceived suffering. Pleading to let them help. Help them stop them from hurting others. It’s pure kindness. If it was hatred or fear he might have let them just go without bringing attention to himself and risk the demon’s wrath. But he chose what he had as a last attempt of what he thought was the right thing to do.
And then, when there is no reason for the cryptid to pretend, he hears them ask their question. And he doesn’t know the meaning of it. This is another reality that will accompany the hunter if they let Eclipse stay. Allowing this means losing their source of income (even if they are already well off), and the organization that facilitates their job. What they have been all this time will become 10 times harder. So the boys ask again if they are sure. And y/n does not hesitate. And Singh’s world has been tilted. He might soon deny what he heard as a trick, but the doubt has probably been planted! He’ll be left to think about it all. Three hunters faced off against a demon and though the demon won, none of them are dead after all.
I… got a lot of feelings for this side character that reminds us slightly of the hunter huh? kfdjhglskdjfg
But well, that’s all I have for now! Awesome chapter like always, Naff! I am so, so excited for what comes next and I just know it’s gonna have me clutching my heart! <3

Oh yeah, the boys get to behave more like themselves now that Y/N knows! It's a weight off of their shoulders and one less stress to worry about. Also, Y/N likes it!

AHH YESSS! I'm so happy you took note of how much that means to the boys to hear Y/N say "You're safe." It's such a fundamental moment because, yeah, that's exactly what the boys said to them, but now, it's from them. They mean it. It's true. They're all safe!!!
The doppelganger was a ghost haunting Eclipse for all that time, but now that the worst has passed and Y/N affirms that it might have gotten one little detail right, it never told them about this. About things being okay. And they are okay ♥
Oh ho, I'm glad you like Paahlott and the little lore drops! You're right that the demonic cryptids who agreed to the sacred rules already held affection for little ones. It was for their kindness that Paahlott summoned them. Likewise, Eclipse always had a tender spot for children, and the sacred rules were a simple thing to bind themselves to.
Yes, some cryptids have sentient were others are more mindless/animal-like, but demonic cryptids are a special case, and noting that they can choose good and evil (relatively for cryptids) is another blow for Y/N and their past trauma. The cornfield demon really is a special kind of cruel, but to balance that out, there's Eclipse, who's a very special kind of caring.

Ahahah, yup, this is very new for Y/N, and sudden. There's a reason Y/N was pretty obvious to a robot kissing their injuries better. Y/N wanted to show their own love and trust and very real, reciprocated feelings. Y/N is feeling a lot, but it's not fear for their dear friend.

Ah, babe, I'm so happy you like Singh! He was really important to write for this scene. A lot of cryptid hunters are in Y/N's same boat of experiencing cryptid-related trauma, and most do it for good reasons, even Cafaro and Rowe despite their rough demeanor in that situation. They're people. Good people. Singh was truly concerned for Y/N and to hear that maybe Y/N isn't in danger after all, around a demonic cryptid, changed everything.
There are going to be consequences with F.E.I., unfortunately, but Y/N has chosen Eclipse.

It made reading the hamster huey and the gooey kablooey comic very meta. The irony is I was very much a Susie growing up, and now I am nearly ideologically identical to Calvin. I did like the jokes, but also I just really liked Hobbes because he was a tiger.

Reading Battle Angel Alita, lets see what thoughts I have!
The first one being I didn't know her name isn't Alita in the original! That is a translation name, the original is called Gunnm, and "Gari" is the character's name. The reason for it...is apparently a mystery? The story was released in the US by Viz quite quickly, starting in earnest 1995 I believe. This was the early days of official translations, where things were much looser and worries of Japan being "inscrutable" to western audiences were common. But still, changing the main character's name is a pretty big step, and it normally has a reason. Why Alita? What does it come from?
Some have mentioned the 1924 Soviet film Aelita as a source for the name; Alita herself (spoilers) is from Mars, like the titular character in that film. Which, okay, but...why? Manga author Yukito Kishiro has never mentioned the film, its not particularly influential or anything. Did the translator love it? How is there not an interview with this guy somewhere? (As opposed to dubiously cited comments)
I do have a Japanese interview with, uh, I think Kishiro? Who says:
When translated into English, GALLY is translated as "barren". In addition, "GALL" also has bad connotations such as "bitter" and "bossy" (^^;, When the idea of publishing an English version of Gunm came to me, the American publisher Viz ( http://www.viz .com/ ) came to me and said, ``Gary has a bad image, so why don't we use Arita?''
Uh, what? I think they mean "gully" which idk not really barren, and yeah "gall" as in "galling" can mean bitter. But just don't translate it that way? Did they really say this?
I do buy the suggestion that the name could come off as masculine in English, and so it was changed to something feminine. That both true enough and in line with industry practices at the time. Still, a bit of an unsolved mystery on this one.
Anyway at this point even the modern translations still use Alita - its her name in English at this point. Which tbh its a great name, I am happy that is the case.

Wenclair/Nevermore gang paintball headcanon
OKAY Y’ALL GET TO SUFFER WITH THIS TOO!
@erzatscarlet and I were messing around with different funny ideas the Nevermore gang would get up to and paintball came into conversation. Let me start off by saying, I don’t believe Wednesday enjoys guns in any fashion. Not for moral reason (we know she’s short on morals anyway) but more for “practicality”. Guns are range weapons, and we know damn well Wednesday Addams wants to get up close and personal with her victims.
So yeah, no guns. BUT! We both agreed she’d be one hell of a marksman thanks to target shooting for fun and being freakishly good at it.
SO, one late fall afternoon, Wednesday agrees to go paintballing with Enid, Yoko, Bianca, Ajax, Xavier and the rest of the Nevermore gang. She DETESTS sports of any kind but enjoys the idea of "hunting". She agrees on one condition: she's allowed to do her own thing and belongs to no team. A rogue agent. They all agree after making her sign a contract stating she won't actually KILL ANYONE or cause SERIOUS BODILY HARM ON PAIN OF ENID AND HER BREAKING UP. Wednesday agrees (begrudgingly) and they all head off.
The tourney ground they choose is in a heavily wooded area. They get there, get registered, get suited up, and disperse. Enid sticks with Wednesday until she slips away into the woods and the game gets under way. For shits and giggles, the group decides to just do elimination rounds and it's all super fun at first.
Ajax and his boys get ousted early on. Xavier is a little better and stays in by the skin of his teeth. Bianca's got grace and speed and manages to stay in for longer than expected. Enid is a fucking werewolf and fast as fuck. Yoko is ass-old and knows all kinds of tricks, so by the end of things it's just the four of them trying to pick the other off. No one's really notices Wednesday's missing until Xavier's shot in the back of the helmet with crimson red paint. It's enough of a blow to knock him over (you don't shoot for the head) but he's out and grumpy about it.
Bianca’s next. She's crouched in a really good location behind a crop of trees but she feels the stinging snap (and if you’ve never experienced a paintball exploding against you...it’s hell) of a paintball hitting the side of her neck. Crimson red. She out and pissed.
Yoko's stalking Enid who's gone mostly wolf. She's fast but she's not exactly quiet. Not like a vampire, anyway. Yoko spots the blonde slipping through the underbrush and quietly puts her gun between the V of two trees and takes aim. Just before she can line up the perfect shot at Enid's ass she's shot in the armpit. Crimson paint. She's out and howling cause that fucking hurt and who the fuck uses paintballs the color of blood?
Enid, ears always perked, hears everyone get eliminated. With a little mental math, she's able to figure out it's just her and Wednesday who, up until now, hasn't shown herself or gotten hit. It's almost like she disappeared. Enid knows better and goes on the prowl, looking for a scent. It's sort of cheating but hey, she's a wolf. It's in her nature to hunt.
Slowly she creeps through the playing field. She thinks she catches a faint, familiar scent somewhere near a shallow gully filled with rotting, fallen leaves from the pervious fall. She THINKS she sees something that looks person-shaped crouching low among the underbrush and pounces before it can get up and run, lighting up the area with paintballs. No dice. It's only an old tarp stuffed with leaves and moss to look like ....WAIT!
She feels it then. The muzzle of a gun tap the side of her helmet. She freezes. Looks to the side and sees fucking WEDNESDAY ADDAMS IN A GHILLIE SUIT WITH HER FACE PAINTED IN CAMO COLORS GIVING HER SUCH A SMUG HALF-SMILE ALL ENID WANTS TO DO IS THROTTLE HER AND KISS HER IN EQUAL PARTS.
"All's fair in love and war, mi loba."
AND SHE FUCKING SHOOTS HER GIRLFRIEND POINT BLANK.
Game. Set. Match.

Wednesday replies that to the victors go the spoils. No one knows what she means, but no one really wants to stick around a find out.

hey! question: how did Anuli come to be?
HIi! Thank you so much for the question.
ANnnnddd... whoooo boi, this is a long and convoluted history of the 'many drafts of the land of the fallen fairies'.
Grab some popcorn, there will be plot twists.
First came up with the 'Land of the Fallen Fairies' idea when I was around... ten-ish. I saw this book called 'the land of forgotten girls,' (just the cover, never read it) and I had watched the movie 'Fern Gully' in school, and had also learned of trees being able to communicate with each other from magic school bus. And thus, ten-year-old me decided to write a story about it, in the way you might imagine a ten-year-old writing a story.
Very overdramatic. No plot.
Basically it was about 'the last tree on the planet' and its fairy. They both lived next to a factory and no one on the plantet knew of thier existence. (Wow, spooky.)
The fairy (faer name was 'Oak'... which was very creative of me.) got stolen by some humans, who were children, but one of them worked for a scientist for some reason? They kept Oak in a jar where fae met the other fairy named Meadow (who was 'Oak's... mother? Or smth.). Oak eventually broke out and went to this 'hidden land' in the Bermuda triangle for reasons. (wow, spooky)
And I stopped at around there because I wasn't feeling nice while writing it anymore.
There are definitely iterations that I don't remember anymore, this is a seven-ish-year long project at this point after all, but here are the major ones.
The Floa and Naegi backstory.
I made these two dolls (that I don't have anymore). Floa was a redwood and Naegi was an evergreen. It was pretty much an 'enemies to best friends/platonic lovers / opposite attracts' sort of thing taking place in that Bermuda triangle island. They both watched the sunset together so yea.
Bloom
Insert the lychee tree that lives in a cave and made a bunch of doohickeys to survive and killed off faer younger 'siblings' accidently with... fire magic? At one point Bloom was a lychee tree and the whole 'fire magic' thing came from Mediterranean cypress's being immune to fire. I also made a doll for this one that started off as this tall and lanky and kind of scary crow-looking thing with long arms and burnt hands. Then it changed to a small deer thing, (Mediterranean cypresses are immune to deer too.) and it's legs kept breaking off.
The black fairy and Squioo
Another scrapped duo! The black fairy is based off the pando tree (and the only one so far that uses he/him pronouns) and the Pando tree is one large tree that looks like a lot of little ones in a huge forest. (It's a real thing! You can look it up.) And I think I had this whole thing where Squioo is another mediterranean cypress and fae died or something? I think at this point the land of the fallen fairies was more of a 'protective group' and fallen fairies were fairies that lost their tree, so they were almost 'apathetic zombies that could be dangerous if provoked'.
the houseplant
This is the iteration where it starts getting to where tLotFF starts looking how it does now. The scale isn't 'across the world' anymore and there is more of a focus on themes and always a protective guardian.
Although for this one the mc was called 'Amaris' and they started off in a houseplant store where everyone else shared memories. There wasn't really anything wrong with this one, I just didn't enjoy writing it.
Guardian territory
This is the previous version, and is also where you get Anuli. I just wanted something that would be easy for me to write, so I had Anuli use story metaphors for everything and be very contemplative, to the point of not knowing what is going on around faer. Fae isn't... 100% Anuli yet, but fae has the bones. In this version, it starts off with Kamari, Anuli and the sibling Maidoe (who got scrapped because fae had no purpose but may come up again later) leaving the 'bad place' to go to the guardian territory. I rewrote that version so many times and got super stressed out every time I wrote it because it had to be PERFECT.
The 'snippet version'
I changed my writing process to be what works for me and started from scratch, and so, after all that, we get to your question.
I wanted to write something that felt nice, that felt like my truth, especially since my life started feeling... monochromatic, and if I had to live for one thing and one thing only, that that thing better make me feel better.
(I just needed an outlet otherwise I would explode.)
And I always loved those 'metaphorical journeys with a very obvious message but it is told in a whimsical way' sort of stories, and I also wanted to tell my younger self to stop driving themself crazy looking for answers on how to make themselves 'better' in order to regain their lost childhood wonder, because 'better' was burning them out.

I wanted so hard to find that thing called 'happiness', to find that happy ending that I didn't let my story play out.
Anywho, I mention this because the writing process I follow is very 'theme based' and I wanted for my story to explore a theme more than anything else. (Think 'Little Prince' vibes mixed with a slice-of-life-children's show so I could be as dark as I wanted to).
Some of my earliest (for this version) planning pages! (I modified the 'Story Genuis' method to work better with my iterative, and impulsive self. Nowadays I write a 'scene' by exploring a sub-concept of my overall point, and writing out all the thoughts surrounding it, in five different pages at once.)
I needed Anuli to represent all of the aspects of myself that were 'too slow for society' and molded them around a bit to fit who Anuli wanted to be (fae wasn't as overdramatic and silly and metaphorical before.)
And as if this post wasn't long enough already, here are some extra things about where Anuli's traits come from <3
Anuli likes morbid stories because my parents didn't like how 'dark' my stories were, and where thinking of something happier and more 'inspirational for kids, new york times best seller', whereas I just wanted to explore this weird thing called existence. I didn't even think that version was so dark.
So I let Anuli tell the darkest possible things that fae can.

The Land of the Fallen Fairies slowly changed moreso to a more 'pixie-based-concept' on who is and isn't 'good enough to be part of society' rather than a 'zombie fairy'. I don't fully know what the criteria is for a fairy to be a fallen fairy, for now it's just 'can't keep up with regular society'.

Part of the reason Anuli's POV 'style' is the way it is, is because I wanted something that would be easier for me to write. There's very little scene description or character actions, 90% of it is thoughts and metaphors, and it's nice that the 'shortcut' that I put for myself so I could actually write something also works for the character I am writing.

For both Anuli and Kamari, both their names come from the origin of the tree. Anuli, the fiddle leaf fig, originates from Africa, and faer name means 'joy'
Kamari, who comes from... northern Africa and surrounding areas if I remember correctly, means 'moon'.

The land of the fallen fairies takes place in my backyard. So I don't really want to move (again... apparently the moving unspoken feelings I didn't know I had got expressed though the LotFF) because all the characters are outside. We got a magnolia, and I have a fiddle leaf inside my house for Anuli.

I knew I didn't want to have Anuli describe any feeling, not even tired-ness with a word. Fae has an internal world filled with sensations and emotions fae does not understand and uses faer stories to create faer own 'shorthand' for how to describe them. I really really like this aspect of faer, because it makes communication that much harder for faer, but that much easier (hopefully, I've been told that no one understands what I write.) to understand what fae is thinking. Fae has built up quite the shorthand over the course of the backstory, none of faer thoughts are understandable without context.

Anuli ended up liking sunflowers completely on accident. I needed to have something for Kamari to notice and prompt Anuli to tell stories about, and there was a small sunflower patch near the magnolia.

Character design is a whole other thing. Before I made the doll, I drew a bunch of sketches based off all the character design videos I could find.
(The ones with the horns were designs for the 'Amaris' previous iteration.)
Oh wait! I remember this iteration. Anuli read the memories of dead pollywiggins for some reason before everyone else told faer that was bad and creepy.
These are some of my favorite Anuli drawings. I made a sticker out of the 'Responsibility' one.
Anuli had a hoodie for some reason, I don't think most fairies wear clothes other than for accessorizing or practical purposes. I may have Anuli wear a cloak when fae comes out of the archives because the weather is changing to fall now and @imjusthereforeternity happens in real time, and Anuil is not meant for cold weather.

Last sketch is from @mylee-sketches for Maidoe. This was around - I think - the time I started making Anuli the doll, which was impulsive as I did not have some of the materials I wanted (it worked out in the end) and I did not plan out sizes.
Anuli the doll took three long months and fae is MASSIVE. (I ran out of the color for faer face and had to improvise with other colors to make faer body match). Fae is around the size of a newborn/1year old CHILD. I can hold faer while I'm writing stuff and fae can stand in my lap and be up to my chin in height. The biggest thing I will ever make and I do not think I'll be doing something of that caliber again for AWHILE at least.
I got a desk recently and fae stands on that now.
Fae also sits nicely on a bookshelf.
... I think that's it. As far as progression from idea to now over the past seven-ish years, this is about everything.

Have you watched the Aquaman movie? How much of Mera’s scenes were cut do you think, also I heard people were jeering at the screen whenever Amber’s face popped up. All this bs but you know they’ll be lining up for the next Kevin Spacey movie 🙄
I haven't seen it, but from what I've heard, Mera gets injured in a fight scene pretty early on and she's out of commission for most of the movie. And according to what I've read, the movie really suffers as a result. In the first one, it's pretty clear Heard's a far stronger actor than Momoa (she was SO GOOD in Gully and The Stand), and she was able to carry him in their scenes, and he kinda flounders without her to work with. I think I'm going to wait until it's available on streaming and watch it then, I don't think I can stomach being in a room full of d*pp supporters jeering her :(
But I do know that Amber herself said she was really proud to play Mera and she fought to stay in the franchise, so I think if you want to support her you should watch it, as well as In the Fire. And for what it's worth, Dolph Lundgren spoke up for her during the trial. I've also noticed that while she did unfollow Momoa and Wan, she still follows Yahya Abdul Mateen (who has a bigger role in the sequel), who was leaving nice comments on her insta before the trial, so I'm inclined to think that he at least treated her kindly behind the scenes.
My hope is that she gets roles in Spanish cinema and her career rebounds overseas.

SORRY for taking so long to get to this, I just couldn't pick a passage to talk about, but YES.
This is from chapter 24 - when Celebrimbor and Elrond establish their Ósanwë link -- and idk there's a lot to unpack here with regards to references and Thoughts I Have so I think it's a good one to talk about! Buckle up aslkdgh this is going to get really long.

The way to Elrond’s core is not quite a maze, but it is complex. Elrond is huge. The glimpses of him which Celebrimbor had the privilege of witnessing in those times Elrond had felt safe enough to unveil himself feel like dim reflections in a poor mirror compared to what unfurls before his feet now. It’s a shock to find that the piece of him which Celebrimbor had thus uncovered was not Elrond at all, really, only the threshold to what Is.
(I got a lot of questions from readers regarding this chapter and Gil-Galad, and how it's possible for Gil to establish an Ósanwë link with him and somehow manage to still treat him like garbage and not recognize that he's uh, semi-divine? And the thing is: Gil has never actually gotten this far. In the rules I've built up around Ósanwë, you don't actually have to get to the center to simply establish a link. You have to get to the core of a person in order to bond (which is why neither Elrond nor Celebrimbor actually touch each other's cores), but to establish a link you don't have to go even as far as they're going in this sequence. You just have to be allowed inside. They're exploring and playing because they love each other and are interested, and because there's a huge amount of trust. Elrond trusts Celebrimbor enough and more importantly: Melian trusts Celebrimbor enough with Elrond. The bit of him that is Melian acts, at times, as an independent, separate consciousness from Elrond and She does a lot to guide, protect, and strengthen him. That's part of why Elrond's interior landscape is the way that it is. And, especially the younger Elrond is, the less he is aware of/in control of what the bit of him that's Melian does.
So all that to say, Gil-Galad never really got beyond the threshold with Elrond. So while he has been able to fundamentally alter/twist some parts of Elrond's Theme due to his meddling, he never got deep enough to see the divine parts and thus be in any danger of meddling with them. That was partly Melian protecting Elrond, partly Gil just not being interested in exploring deeper because -- well, it's an enmeshment thing, if that makes sense? If he were to delve deeper into Elrond, he's opening himself up for Elrond to delve deeper into him.)
At first, the expanse before him is only a slope the color of purple heather, broken neither by rock nor tree, but slashed through with spots of green where Elrond’s thoughts run deep and fluid as water. Celebrimbor treks across this expanse for what feels like hours, then suddenly comes upon dozens of unexpected gashes, narrow with steep sides, that open suddenly beneath his feet. When he looks down, he is struck with vertigo for how cavernous they are, how unfathomable. Inside, he sees a verdant canopy of trees with a river at the bottom. There are gullies so narrow Celebrimbor might step over them, but so deep he might slip into them and never be found, filled with the sound of rushing waterfalls. Elrond guides him not as a figure in front, but a Force behind, like wind at his back, drawing him away from dark ravines that Celebrimbor could neither jump over nor climb into. Leading him around bogs that, on their surface, seemed green, lush with flowers, but somehow treacherous. A flytrap sticky-sweet with honey to catch intruders. He knows, somehow, deep down that if he wandered in there he might never come back out. Either doubling endlessly back upon himself, or otherwise consumed by some terrible Thing with a thousand rows of teeth, and a thousand-thousand faces.
Yes, this is a wider space than Celebrimbor ever could have imagined.
And still, he has not reached the end.
He comes at last to a cliff so sharp and unexpected that he nearly tumbles over the edge. He distinctly feels Elrond grab hold of him and pull him now onto a switchback path that goes down, down, down, a valley that seems to drill into the very earth, of which Celebrimbor cannot see the bottom.
Elrond’s Melody is stronger here. A current of hurrying water, of singing wind. It paints colors in Celebrimbor’s hair, across his skin, endlessly creative, seeming to drive down to his very marrow and soothe every ache. Celebrimbor smells pine as he descends. The air turns warm and sweet and gray. In that gloaming, he hears the call of a nightingale enter Elrond’s Melody, and then, after that, the sound of the Sea.
(Fun fact: I lifted this blatantly from Tolkien's descriptions of the road to Rivendell. So do with that what you will. Something-something Rivendell being Elrond literally manifesting himself into physical space...)
He reaches the Center at last.
A shorebank stretches on to the vanishing point as far as East is from West. A vast ocean spreads beneath the upturned bowl of a velvet-black sky. Here Celebrimbor stands at the thread between them where heaven kisses earth, where each is mirrored back upon the other, the stars reflected in the glassy wine-dark sea. They watch him as he enters, curious and welcoming, loving, loving, loving. Just as he had felt that night in his room.
(If you took a look at Elros, Elros looks exactly the same at the center. They're inversions of each other. Elros is in Elrond, Elrond is in Elros. Sky and sea and stars! (and Melian))
Elrond, here, flashes in all his multitudes: between Him, and Them, and It, and She, and the endless vault of heaven. All of it is infinite. All of it, Elrond.
Celebrimbor sinks to his knees in the sand. He knows, somehow, that beyond that sea there is a wood so dense and arcane that he could not dream of comprehending it. It would drive him mad. But he could touch the edge and stay sane, he thinks. Perhaps, someday, Elrond will let him.
(and that forest, of course, is the bit of him that is Melian -- just beyond the edge of what's really comprehensible. And yeah, you won't be the same after you get that close but also that's what would wind up forming a Bond, so...)
I would, Elrond says, watching him with a million eyes and two.
He bends and presses a kiss to Celebrimbor’s forehead that sears with light, and then gently leads him out.
Celebrimbor gasps as they resurface and he lands back in his own skin. Next to him, Elrond is bleeding starlight.
I love you, Elrond sends to him.
It floods him. Consumes him. Celebrimbor lets out a breathless laugh and says: “It is good to meet you at last, Elrond Peredhel.”
Elrond grins, radiates so much starlight it’s blinding, and leans in to kiss his mouth.

what's your opinion on society? just like, all of it?
well I... don't really have that good of an understanding of society at large. The USA was born of a very noble idea, but unfortunately due to compromises made for support in the very beginning, the same men who gained power out of the Triangle Trade were entrenched and my nation's been lagging behind from that ever since. got rid of slavery really late, granted equal rights between the races really late, and while I'm pretty sure we shut down monopolies pretty early and somewhat legitimized unions, the nation has been regressing quite a lot on that front recently. We haven't even completely secured the rights of women and gays, let alone trangenders. My country is doing poorly and it's shittiness is unfortunately spilling out across the world.
I know in Canada you have Trudeau, and at first glance it seemed like you northern folk were doing really well, but now I haven't heard anything good coming out of your country, and while he's probably not all to blame, and many issues can be attributed directly to the capitalist landowners fucking everyone over... doctors seem to be telling people to kill themselves rather than helping them. So not doing too good there either.
Apparently Mexico is actually doing pretty well now, as I've heard that very few of the people coming in from down south are actually from Mexico, so that's good! There has however been a LOT of new immigrants coming to my state, so the troubles that were plaguing Mexico and have since been, if not solved then lessened, have probably come to afflict more countries in South America.
It's completely fucked that so many are supporting Israel, and very telling that South Africa was the first nation to actually put forth action to condemn Israel and it's genocide. Let's hope that the UN can actually take real action this time, and isolate Israel entirely, preventing any action, hopefully allowing for the fall of their colonial regime.
I'm glad to know that Ukraine is still holding out against the Russians after all this time, and hope they can be given enough support to gully push back and liberate the whole of Ukraine.
That's all the places I feel knowledgeable enough about to comfortable give a take on, so that's where this will end. Don't misconstrue this as defeatist, because while things ARE bad, some are improving. Action has been taken, Mexico is getting better, and (this one is US centric) if everyone actually votes, we may just break the stranglehold that the Republicans currently have on American policy. We will persevere.

FALL TORNADO SEASON IS UPON US AND WHILE THE WEATHER IN THE UNITED STATES IS CURRENTLY QUIET THERE'S A CHANCE IT COULD START RAMPING UP SOON so i wanted to make a tornado safety post to give people a good outline of what to do in case of a tornado or really any sort of severe storm! please reblog and spread, even if you aren't in the US because as im about to mention pretty much 97% of the earth can experience tornadoes so without further ado
tornadoes can literally happen everywhere and its really important to know basic safety so you dont end up impaled by a piece of flying debris going 70mph <3
if a tornado is approaching the rule is BASEMENT FIRST. if you dont have a basement then the center of an interior room on the lowest level of your house, such as a closet or interior hallway. get under a sturdy table and use your arms to protect your head and neck. DO NOT OPEN YOUR WINDOWS. you'll want to put as many walls between you and the outside as possible.
IF YOU ARE IN A MOBILE HOME/TRAILER YOU ARE NOT SAFE. again IF YOU ARE IN A MOBILE HOME/TRAILER YOU ARE NOT SAFE. at all. end of story, doesnt matter where you go in a mobile home. you NEED to plan ahead and seek safe shelter please for the love of god plan ahead.
DO NOT SEEK SHELTER UNDER HIGHWAY OVERPASSES.
if you are in unable to move yourself and no assistance is available, cover yourself with as many blankets and pillows as you can.
if you are OUTSIDE perhaps on a drive through the countryside, lie flat on your stomach in a ditch or gully and protect your head with your hands. your vehicle is not safe. i know it sounds very scary but again, find a ditch, lie flat.
IF YOU CAN- FIND A BANK, A FAST FOOD PLACE OR A GAS STATION, walk-in freezers and vaults can act as shelter if absolutely necessary.
lightning round
going to your shelter? bring shoes.
make a go-bag with items such as a spare charger, spare clothes and socks, flashlight, radio, extra medicine, medical cards, etc. and bring THAT to your shelter too.
download a weather app on your phone and maybe check it every once in a while and see what's going on. sky look weird? check it. raining too hard? check it. you can learn so much.
(these are types of weather alerts that the national weather service in the US uses, they may be different from what your country uses!)
a weather WATCH, such as a tornado watch, means severe weather could happen. you don't need to get to shelter or anything, but make sure you have plans just in case. pay close attention to local weather information as they can change VERY fast.
a weather WARNING, such as a tornado WARNING, means severe weather is either about to happen or is currently happening in your area. execute your plan calmly and quickly.
a tornado EMERGENCY is an enhanced version of a tornado warning, issued VERY RARELY when a stronger tornado is about to strike populated areas and the national weather service expects widespread damage and/or injuries and fatalities. i cannot stress to you all how absolutely important it is to TAKE ACTION IMMEDIATELY!!!! DO NOT WASTE ANY TIME!!!
a great way to remember watches and warnings is making cookies
cookie watch = you have the ingredients
cookie warning = currently making cookies
cookie emergency = eating the cookies.

Why nothing makes sense part 6.
Ghosted premiere edition 👻
When I woke up and read people talking about her being there, I definitely expected something much worse than it actually was. Don't misunderstand me; I obviously wasn't happy she was there, but it's not as bad as I thought it would be if she were there.
As always, there are things that just don't make any sense to me.
In the past few weeks, we've received no articles about them; the article about Chris didn't include her. However, on the day of the premiere, ET included pictures of the Valentine's Day video, and the Daily Mail also included her. It was like a reminder that, hey, he is supposed to be in a really loving and committed relationship with this Alba girl, remember? He was spotted alone, and we hadn't received any new content since Valentine's Day. The cheating rumor was also posted. I understand why many people think we are getting to the end of this shitshow, because it felt like it.
What's up with Tara and her family? So Tara and her family were in NYC yesterday, on the same day of the premiere, and Gully even met them before the event. Why wasn't she or they at the premiere? The fact that they were there on the same day and even met Gully would be too many coincidences if she or they weren't supposed to be there. But if both Tara and Alba's appearances were planned, then she couldn't have been the reason why she didn't go to the premiere? And they had time for it because, as it turned out, they went to the Broadway Museum before the premiere started. Or was she there? Because I know some people say she was, without any evidence, of course, but if she was there, why didn't we see her? And why wouldn't she arrive with Chris and Alba?
So the one and only time we say Alba was when they got out of the car with Chris, and then when we saw her going in with two people, who are supposedly Chris's friends or whatever. Where was everybody else? Tara was in town. Scott, Steve, Lisa, Shanna, or Carly? Where was everybody? They would've been better company for her, especially since they all adore her. Chris gave something to her; it wasn't his phone, that's for sure. They looked like some kind of tickets, I guess; maybe she got Tara's 😂 People also say they kissed in cars, but there is no evidence of that, and there is no way somebody can tell that from that video. I thought that if she were there, she would walk down the red carpet with him, which didn't happen. I'm not complaining, and I don't believe he was either. But what was the point of her being there? Why wasn't she on the red carpet with him, like his family members and friends usually are? I remember the Lightyear premiere, and I remember seeing Steve on the red carpet, behind Chris, while he was giving an interview. Why wasn't she there too? And please don't say that because of "backlash" or because "they didn't want to get bullied", because I have an easy solution for that: don't bring her to the premiere. He's never had a problem with not bringing his partners to premieres, but he didn't have a problem being at Jenny's premiere, for example, and he didn't seem to care about the backlash then. This whole premier thing was just as half-assed as everything else in this shitshow. You want to come to the premiere? Okay, I will do the bare minimum. You can get out of the same car as me, and we can have a fast chat, and then you can do whatever you want.
I hope those who said this will be the last thing he needs to do and then bye-bye PR contract and Alba are right.
