This show Just keeps on tugging at my heartstrings, Bringing Back every insecurity and deep rooted fear I may have Huh?

Its truly so emotional seeing characters you love so much Go through struggles that are just a little too familiar and see them overcome them.

I think I never felt as Understood and represented as I have with this show. Each new special brings back a lesson I learned long ago or something I'm still working through emotionally. In doing so It reminds me I'm not alone in my experiences. (And it does so with great animation and phenomenal worldbuilding IMO)

God I love this show so much. I dont think it's gonna be topped anytime soon.

#this is a half joke btw i have an even more coherent analysis on i'm just. processing because HOLY SHIT.#RED CANDLE GAMES. first off like with detention the visuals are one of (if not) THE strongest point of the game #in how it gets you immersed into the setting and story especially. it does an amazing job of telling a story without using too much words a #as a fan of horror this honest to god broke my heart because it not only is so tragic but it hits close to home 😭#i have so much more to say but i can't get my thoughts together atm. it's a shame that this was taken down from steam because it's SO GOOD.#honestly i kind if cried a little (a lot) at some parts and especially at the end.. having cultural context just does that to you huh anywa #itlogthoughts #edit: yellow tulips in the context of the game's setting means hope and cheer. it is planted to bring good luck; fortune; or better times #in this essay i will-#okay but it's the fact that mei folded tulips to manage her anxiety and in the end also loved her yellow tulip plant dearly #(*and the yellow tulip referred to in the hallway scene during the ritual; the man speaking may be referring to the protagonist rather than #-his daughter. and how he sacrificed his body money and blood to keep hope that his daughter could “be rid” of her illness)#and how in one scene her room is covered from floor to ceiling in yellow tulips. i might fall ill #it's the way she even hoped to the end that she would be alright; that she would recover and her parents would watch her on tv together?#as a family? i might cry again sorry guys

another difference is that brennan gives much more leeway to his players than matt did. like it feels like he'll let them do anything as long as it's not explicitly against the rules. like emily asked if sofia's burning hair could result in a cute bob and he was like yes, absolutely, sure, and I guarantee matt would have made her roll like, a percentage die or something. but his strictness meant the stakes for the characters and story were higher, so I miss it a bit

#also i zone out during a lot of the fight scenes bc I don't know the characters well enough to be really emotionally invested #and I watched crit role from THE BEGINNING. yes the underdark arc. I watched the entire mirror shopping fiasco. all hour and a half of it #I KNEW those characters. even tho some were less developed than the others or had fewer goals they were still valued #bc they were cherished by their fellow players and characters. and bc I had spent like 60 hours in their presence by the time #the actually good plots rolled around #do you know how hard I cried in the final episode and I didn't even LIKE vax #d20 lb

I guess Rip to Sisi and all of the other innocent brothel women who endured horrific abuse day-in-day-out at the hands of their patrons including extremely powerful sect leaders and were ultimately treated like tools and discarded when they were no longer useful, who no one ever missed or advocated for until another powerful cultivator man needed to gather blackmail

makoto cries like twice in the series. once when he's gone through fucking absolute hell and is in the middle of being punched in the face over and over by a guy accusing him of being too oblivious to handle "true despair", as well as constantly bringing up his recently deceased best friend alongside that. and another time when he's being brainwashed and is having hallucinations of his dead friends telling him to die. those are the only times that he cries, when he's brought to his absolute limit.

#makotalk #honorary mention goes to when ryota accuses makoto of not actually caring about kyoko because he pulls himself together #and doesnt spend a longer time grieving. during a time where he CANT grieve and has to go face munakata #and he gets clearly angry about this but doesnt lash out bcs he understands that lashing out could lead to more people dying #he might have cried a little when he saw kyoko's body? but i cant remember.#but he doesnt cry in that scene. i just think abt it a lot
