The LBGT rep in League of Legends seems interesting so far!
If you had any critiques on how the rep as a whole is being portrayed, which would they be?
Sorry if this seems like too much of a hassle, you just piqued my interest, is all 😆
Oh I have SO many things to say about the LGBT representation in League, I love to talk about it.
So, league started out as a very cishetereo, misogynist IP and a lot of that unfortunately shows to this day. A lot of the old designs are crappy and misogynistic, the fanbase is toxic. But over time devs have been updating their designs, lore, stories, and characters and in doing so have introduced more LGBT characters into the universe.
This pretty much started with Caitlynn and Vi all the way back in 2012. They were originally billed as the "good cop bad cop" duo from Piltover. Vi's short hair and their close working relationship got a lot of people speculating on Vi being a lesbian and them being more than business partners. Devs hinted at characters being queer, and the (predominantly cishet man) fanbase made homophobic jokes and memes about queer coded characters. Jokes, speculation, and hints from developers was all there was when it came to LGBT rep.
That changed when Varus got his lore update in 2017, when they decided to totally retcon his old lore and say he is not some guy, actually is a gay couple that gave up their mortal forms to exist in the body of a darkin (?? kinda weird and complicated lore) but shortly after that, Neeko was revealed. Who was League's first openly gay champion. She had voice lines flirting with women and showing no interest in men. Beyond her sexuality though, she's just got a very funny and adorable personality and her interest in women isnt sexualized for the mostly male audience. She was very well received despite some bigoted gamers bitching.
After that more and more champions were introduced as queer or confrimed that way. Rell was introduced as openly bisexual, K'sante was openly gay, Leona and Diana got a story where they kissed and were confirmed as lovers. Arcane confirmed Vi and Caitlynn being a couple. The amount of queer content is kind of sparing since their games arent rlly story focused and only offer characterization through brief voice lines. So... to be clear its kind of just representation crumbs. But I take them anyways dfkjgh.
I think at least, one of the best things they did recently was confirm Graves as a gay man, his "work" partner Twisted Fate as bisexual, and wrote a story about their burgeoning romantic interest in eachother. Many of the queer characters league introduced were new, and some ended up neglected in the vast roster of characters. League has also avoided representation of gay male characters, probably to try to avoid displeasing their mostly straight male audience.
Graves and Twisted Fate however, are very established & beloved characters in league, with a complicated history with eachother that started all the way back in 2011. For many years people joked about them "bickering like an old married couple" and in a pride event they officially confirmed it... I think it was very well done and meaningful to see and I really, really hope they further explore it in future cinematics/stories with these two. I really hope it doesn't end up being confined to this one story.
All of that said, though, League's major flaw in their representation is the lack of rep for trans people. The first attempt at a trans character in League was Taliyah. Her creator revealed that they intended for her storyline to involve her experience being a trans girl, but that part of her story was cut by higher ups. Taliyah is pretty much universally accepted as being trans by the community, but the studio did tell designers to keep it on the downlow, which is bullshit. She's been left out of league's pride events and I really hope they remedy that soon.
This post is getting way long I'm sorry but I CANT go without mentioning their other trans character from Legends of Runeterra, the card game they released based of league of legends. LoR actually has more queer representation than any league media, and builds out the world a LOT, through LoR we got confirmation about established character like Miss Fortune and Nami being queer themselves. And most notably, we have a surprisingly amazing representation of a trans character.
Tyari, the Traveler starts off going by he/him, and is starting a journey up the mountain of Targon. It's a treacherous climb but if you make it to the top, you could become an ascended being, basically. So throughout the game, cards of their friends and the people around them have lines support their journey and encouraging them.
When they reach the top, Tyari becomes the Traveler, a goddess-like being with a more feminine voice and appearance. You realize that the journey up the mountain is used as an allegory for her transition, and it throws those interactions with Taric in a whole new light. She is also voiced by trans voice actress Maddie Taylor.
I literally cannot listen to these lines between Tyari and her future self without tearing up. I don't know HOW a league of legends card game managed to put together a decent trans storyline but it guts me.
Tyari is a very beloved character from the card game, many fans want to see more of her in any future league media. (me included, oh my god)
SORRY that was a lot but uh. Tl;dr League representation is hit and miss, they really need to do better and give more representation towards trans people. the only representation outside of Arcane is like. Voice lines and short stories published on their website so I hope they'll creature more in depth queer storylines in future seasons of Arcane, future shows/movies, and their upcoming games around the League IP.

i feel like i talked abt it here once a looong time ago but bc i heard abt the 2024 lps relaunch i wanna pitch my idea for a reboot thats basically a self indulgent crossover between the 2012 show and lps a world of our own
so i hc that lps 2012 and lps awooo take place in the same universe ( i havent rlly thought of a good excuse on why the 2012 gang havent visited pawtucket yet ) and some of the awooo gangs owners either live or moved to downtown city ( im gonna go with bev, trip and edie's owners since quincy canonically lives on a farm and i feel like jade and roxies owners live elsewhere idk )
so this also takes place a couple years after the events of the final ep of the 2012 series so Blythe is now a senior in highschool and is preparing for college. ms twombly is still running the shop but is planning to retire soon so thats the main overarching conflict for Blythe bc she both wants to run the shop but also pursue a degree in fashion. another conflict is that the 2012 pets cant tell Blythe abt pawtucket. also theres a bunch of misc things too ( like the biskits and petulas posse etc )
So how the awooo gang and the 2012 gang meet is that Bev, Trip and Edie are dropped off at the lps by their owners and meet the 2012 gang and hit it off pretty well. somehow the topic of pawtucket gets bought up and the 2012 gang is like " yo that sounds cool i wanna visit " and they end up visiting pawtucket and meet the rest of the awooo gang and get their keys and get a living situation set up ( i like to think Russell moves in with Trip and Quincy )
after that shenanigans insue including but not limited to
Possible Petula, Gavin and Mitchell redeemption arc ( tbh im kinda sad Mitchell never got an ep hanging out with the awooo gang genuinely and tbh out of all of Petulas gang i think Sweetie is kind of the actual asshole of the group bc Petula has hung out with the gang at one point and seemed to enjoy herself and Gavin had a whole ep where he and Edie bonded over a shared interest

After seeing you reblog the glados design post may I ask which ones are your favorite (mine are probably the old lady and any more robotic leaning designs but I have a soft spot for Caroline based ones)
short answer; i dont have one, each one has aspects i love about them and generally i just like seeing everyones takes on her (which, having lived through the "skinny attractive lady with a karen cut or anime mmd model and no in between" era, is a breath of fresh air)
long answer;
Karen - i lived through the 2012 - 2016 era where you either got this or the anime one so im a little. worn out on this one. put some damn crows feet and laugh lines on that woman or so help me god
i will say i enjoy the chassis dress (i saw a rlly cool take where the dress WAS the chassis, so when wheatley takes it over, HE gets the dress) and i think this design deserves points for being extraordinarily cosplay friendly :)
Old lady - love love love it. old ass woman like she should be (not just bc of her VA, but bc considering the timeline of events caroline would be pushing middle age when cave dies !). i love the lab coat bc... duh, right? she loves science. shes literally doing tests. it makes her seem so.. human, to see a greying woman not in some elegant metal dress but just... a coat. SO good and bonus points if u put her in old lady slippers
caroline - gives me the impression that glados was built around carolines body, the same way one would patch a jacket with other fabrics or a wall with spackle and new paint... i also just go wild for anything caroline ever, so ofc im a fan of her having ANY influence on a glados design. i do have a bone to pick though because once again; caroline would not look the way she did in her portrait by the time she would be put into glados. HOWEVER, something CAN be said of the concept of the scientists making an effigy of caroline not as she IS, but as she was when she was young and palatable and went along with the horrors of aperture during the companys glory days. i still think its best to strike a balance between Old Lady and Caroline (But Robot)
Anime - on one hand, nostalgia for when i was like 8 and watched portal mmd videos all the time. on the other hand, if you design glados like this i assume you know her from meme culture and little else. anime glados is like the pug of glados designs like stop it she cant breath it was already cute and loveable before youre hurting her !!!!
Object Head - its really all it needs to be! its glados at her core (lol) just with arms and legs! i like when its paired with her in the chair chassis bc it seems so oddly threatening AND also realistic (which makes no sense except to me<3)
Humanoid robot - once again, its all it really needs to be. glados but she grabs shit (with more robot this time)
Beast - this is the newest iteration and i LOVE IT MAKE HER FUCKED UP AND WILD HELL YEAH!!!!!!!!
Chair chassis is cool bc i like the concept of it as a throne she occupies, but wires are also cool because it ties back to that whole thing about her supposedly looking like a woman tied up. the wires make it look like shes literally tied to the facility, chained to it even. the integrated chassis is awesome bc i say so idk it just looks neat
anything that emphasizes her singular optic is amazing to me. makes her look more like herself while also showing a very direct representation of the dichotimy between her humanity and her lackthereof (barring the eyepatch bc like. eyepatches do not imply inhumaness. the eyepatch imo makes me think of a literal injury she sustained becoming glados and therefore represents the scars on her psyche from the whole ordeal. or maybe it just looks neat audbdjjff)

rdgn matches: the first one is ranked actually bc it means so much to me but rdgn vs darby allin and matt cross its just one of my fave matches of theirs and always will be bc it was one of the FIRST matches i saw of theirs <3 every time splitters match. thee wk9 4 way. vs the american wolves final battle 2012!!! vs the briscoes for their first tag titles win specifically bc they showed up and Chose to be bitches :heart eyes: vs the revival in nxt my beloved we deserved a full feud. vs adam + roddy also has a special place in my heart. just for fun the match where they were The Boys <3 i just like them so much THE tag team of all time they mean a lot to me!!
shane matches: vs adam from the 2019 worlds collide thing needs 2 b said first actually for the sheer energy of it. both of his matches w bronson in nxt. vs roddy even tho thats when he busted his knee and immediately did not do anything about it and went months on end without doing anything about it until it was unusable -_- (the match was good but hes a dumbass said lovingly). the handful of main event (show) matches he had were good its just that nobody watches that one :// vs curt stallion from the year he got to win more than one match <3 team vic vs team wa from epw state of origin 2012. the first proper tmdk tag match at reawakening 8 (not a great match tbh but i like them soooo). theres a couple vs mikey nicholls in njpw that r rlly and one very fun noah house show that had shane/jonah vs mikey/zsj but they swapped gear styles/character personalities w their partners the video quality is NOT good but its cute tmdk good AND NOT TO BE FORGOTTEN. tmdk + zsj vs roddy bobby and gallows. honorable mention to the one that got away the one that seems to have simply vanished but i would pay my real money to get a copy of it: kensuke office vs shane + bobby. it still drives me crazy that i cant find it Anywhere. @ noah can we please dig through the video archives and see whats in there
rdr2 moments: every time i get to hang out with charles and sadie my best friends charles and sadie. the final fight specifically with high honour :( it hits. it makes me go stupid. its a perfect end. every time u have arthur interact w an animal and hes like hi baby :) i also rlly like his interactions w albert and ms macguiness (sorry i never found all the bones maam). i still think its funny that i missed an entire soundtrack sequence bc i didnt take that horse after the island???? the cinematics for blood feuds ancient and modern are so..... yeah. thats in my head forever now. id need to replay it to have a more concrete list but thats the Basics i think!!

ok :D background knowledge about the band n the album im gonna b talking about:
miracle musical itself was like... a music project started by one of the tally hall members !! it involves alot of other music artists too !!! they made an album n a single song!! both of those released in 2012 :]
the album is called Hawaii: Part II. there's not a part one and the band has even said theyr not making a part one.!! so that kinda sets the vibe ig. the songs don't have much correlation from first glance, even after taking a closer look they don't tell a story or anything that much !!! the thing the have in common is a mystical, often spooky, feeling (at least 2 me.) most of them have a nautical, sealife theme.
first note!!! both the first and last songs of the album start with the lyrics "alone at the edge of a universe, humming a tune-" which is like!!! continuity my beloved :]] it's also just a good lyric yknow
the first song is called Introduction to the Snow !! kinda a play on words of introduction to the show :]] it doesn't hav many lyrics but it sets the tone for the rest of the album!!! which is like... vaguely mysterious and dealing with the universe n how ppl feel kinda!
ok here's where i mention how the songs like. flow together!!! theres a variety, from the songs merging together with the same rhythms n such or a very sudden change !!!! its rlly cool n i like how there's both :)))
the second song is called Isle Unto Thyself! some of the first bits of this song rlly just ...,,., sets the vibe for the rest of the album!! the lyrics "know what cant be shown, feel what cant be known" is very releant as alot of the songs r abou tfeeling things n knowing things!! even if u cant see them !!! also banger ending transistion to the next song, tehres a buildup that transitions nicely !!!
the third song is Black Rainbows :D this ones one of my favorites!! there r two languages being sung in this one, hawaiian and english. both are singing about rainbows, which represents their love for eachother in the way of the colors and the feelings!! :D
- ok im realizing i forgot to talk about the uhhh album cover!!! it is in mostly greyscale, except for the rainbow text of the band name under the album name!!! it is an ocean with a full mon above, with overlaying images of palm trees, stairs, and a fish/monster with alot of teeth!!!! there is also what appears to be a whale or maybe plane in the backgrounf, sumberged inthe water!! to me it rll y just summarizes the mystery n like. wackyness of the album :DD
ok um back 2 the songs !!!! the forth song is called White Ball!! it tackles dealing with death in like... terms of a dance!! like a ballroom dance, at a ball! the most repeated lyric is "such impossible bliss" which. yeah. death yknow,,,.. it shows the beuaty of whatever the afterlife is. it also makes comparisons to space!!!
the fith song is called Murders! which to me feels like,, runnning away and the fear that causes? or someone gettin lost in a forest!! definetly feels like.. fear. espeacially the lines "tree falling no one would hear, shadow of nobody there" like. dude thats FEAR n yknow what i get it!!! forests can b fucking scary dude.
the sixth song is 宇宙ステーションのレベル7, which roughly translates to Space Station Level 7! this song is mostly japanese n french, neither of which i speak! so uh.,,., yeha!! bu t i do fukcign love the intruments-
oh ym gosh i forgot to talk abou tthe bacground intruments and music!!!!!!! its so good!! each song has its own little flairs and they all r just... wonderfulyl composed!!!!
now,,, the seventh song is The Mind Electric,.,. (tw for just like. idk dude its super grim the guy gets electrocuted) this one is like.. rlly haunting but its super good!! so the first half of the song is all in reverse, which sets up this like.. rlly eerie tone for the song. bc. u dont know whats going on at first! bc its all reveresd n u know the like... idk its creepy hearing ppl talking/singing backwards. from the halfway point, the song isnt in reverse any longer. dude,,, like the lyrics themselves? ouchies.... basically this guy goes to court for... somethin its not told- but uh basicallly he gets sent to an infirmary and ends up gettinf electrocuted bc his minds not in a good place. its super grim n honestly just... man,,,,,, i could explain more on this but itd probably b better as its own post tbh !!!
,,,the eighth song is Labyrinth! this one seems to b mostly about someone whos in this big.. personal struggle with love + relationships n feels trapped inhis own mind, hence the labyrinth.
the ninth song is Time Machine !! this ones pretty straightforward i think!!! kinda. this person feels like the wasted thier past and is sad and regretful. so they use a time machine!!! it feels like they are living the dream, right? but its lonely!! they begin to regret it. they realize they shouldnt waste their present.
the tenth song is Stranded Lullaby! lots of boat references n terminology here, the singer is looking for someone who they once lost, but cant seem to find them in the vast oceans of existence.
the eleventh and final song is called Dream Suite in Sea Major!!! this ones also one of my favorites !!!! this one rlly just wraps up the album. it tells the story of a sailor who gets lured in by sirens. it ends with a subtle nod to the album not being super easy to find with the lyrics "invisible to some until its time."

moving. i dont like moving. it was somuch work. moved from the hometown to a city i hadn’t visited since 2008.

what’s one thing that happened this year that you want to change?
how #depressed i was while in Los Angeles. i was living my best gotdam life going to disneyland and all of a sudden im crying in the bathroom of our hotel at 2 in the morning for n o r e a s o n. i feel like a sad corpse every day of the year it had NO RIGHT to show up that week. there were somany amazin moments i couldnt enjoy bcus of it. i know i have no control over the mental disorder but i still believe i had the ability to replace it with serotonin instead

hello south park fandom :)
it’s been a while since ive been.. in you. so i recently replayed stick of truth, for nostalgia’s sake (and bc im impatient for fractured but whole) & i was reminded how much i miss the show and the boys and even the fandom. so i wanted to jump back into it!
so i’m shay, and i ship pretty much everything, but back in the old days, kyman was my fav. still have a soft spot for it, but im more into every ship these days tbh. still, cartman’s my favorite character. i find him fascinatingly complex, like as someone who’s very interested in psychology, he’s…v interesting. and he’s funny as hell, of course. it’s ironic he’s my fav, too, bc i’m jewish…
i was really into sp from june 2013 to june 2014 or so, then i stopped writing fics and stopped talking to all my fandom friends. i still watch new eps when they air, i legit never miss them lol, but i stopped rlly bein in the fandom, but ya im back & ready to mingle lmao
i’m actually working on a fic rn, for the first time in over three years. it’s inspired by criminal minds, which i’ve been bingewatching. it just kinda came together in my head. kyle’s the lead detective, cartman’s the unsub, only hes not…thats all im saying. and it isnt even explicitly kyman, it’s more past-kyman w some old lingering feelings, so if you hate the ship thats cool. u sill might wanna check it out? maybe? regardless, if you wanna hear abt it, hmu! i wanna blab abt it, i‘m excited to share it lol.
if anyones actually reading this, i have a couple of questions, since it’s been a while
1) does anyone know a fairly old fic (published between 2008-2012…golden ages of sp fic tbh) where kyle gets a job at a resteraunt where hes required to dress as a girl, & if i remember right cartmans the only one who knows, only he surprisingly doesnt take (too much) advantage?? ive been able to find most of my favorite old fics, but i cant seem to find that one. it was on ff.net btw. i hope it wasnt deleted.
2) is the kyman fandom less aggressively anti-bottom cartman now?? 4 yrs ago i used to get soooo much hate for headcanoning cartman as a bottom, but after the cupid me subplot on tweek x craig, i’m hoping ppl have eased up a little?? i saw the end of that ep & literally shrieked bc i was right all along!!! my fav chubby bubby mentally disturbed 10 y/o is a confirmed bottom ok idk
3) also i saw someone saying cartman’s canonically taller than everyone else in fourth grade, but i’ve always headcanoned him as slightly shorter, i think bc in the tmi ep, he grows the least, so i interpreted that as him being kinda short?? was there an ep where they mention hes tall?? i mean his dad’s a football player so it’s possible but idk football players arent always 6′4..
yeah so thats all lol. does anyone maybe wanna be friends & nerdily analyze the characters/relationships on the show together??? like i said im super into psychology so i always like to pick apart things im into, & it’s always fun to discuss it with another person so yeah k thx bye
