synopsis; where practice goes on for a little longer than expected, and you’re extremely jetlagged. (based off of the las vegas gp fp2)
author’s note; this is my first completed fic ahhh! cant believe i actually finished something for once in my life this is a miracle

LAS VEGAS WAS A BRIGHT CITY. So bright, and yet you were still battling with all-consuming darkness.
You’d arrived more than twelve hours ago. Cameras flashed, questions asked, your mind had been buzzing with excitement for the ever-anticipated Grand Prix at the new track. Hundreds of people; reporters, fans, drivers, bustled about. Drones and tripods followed your every move, microphones bursting your personal bubble, screaming people begging for their caps, shirts and babies to be signed. It crossed your mind more than once that you weren’t a driver, yet the cheers of sheer joy echoed when you walked by.
It was exhilarating, truly. You’d never imagined your life would turn out this way, your face being plastered onto live television, a banner across the bottom presenting you as Lando Norris’ girlfriend.
You’d arrived just in time for Free Practice 2, not getting a chance to find the man in orange before he was off and onto the track for the second time two hours later than scheduled. However, you were soon supplied with a pair of noise-cancelling headphones and a chair to get comfortable with.
It was colder than usual. Your eyes were permanently fixated on the screen above you. No matter how many times you’d watched your boyfriend race, in person or in the comfort of your shared home, it was never any less terrifying. The noises of pure acceleration, the sparks that would occasionally burst from the back of the car, the knowledge of what could happen and what’s already happened several times before. All of it was enough to keep you on your toes, wide awake, and alert every time.
Every single time, except this one.
The low hum of the engine through your headphones did nothing to help you stay focused, time finally beginning to creep its way back up to you. Your boyfriend’s voice calmly updating his engineers, the muffled chatter of the garage, all of it caused your mind to numb and breathing to begin evening out. It was so late. So, so late, and cold.
Your head suddenly lulled to the side causing your eyes to snap open, saving yourself before you slipped off the plastic foldable chair. God, you hoped the live broadcasting cameras were not allowing thousands of eyes to see you right now.
There were some eyes, though, that had seen you. The engineers dressed in orange pottering around were chuckling, they themselves trying to stay awake by toying with tools and fidgeting with other mechanical things that you didn’t understand. Most of them you were quite friendly with by now as you were a frequent member of the McLaren garage, and they all knew you were the one to go to whenever Lando needed a break. They were grateful to have you. An angry Lando is never a fun time.
Which is exactly why they decided to make an executive decision to save you from the concrete floor below. It was only a matter of time before you ended up hurting yourself.
The screen above you began blurring once more, eyes drooping against your will when a hand placed itself onto your shoulder. One of the engineers that Lando was particularly close with was smiling down at you, softly nudging you forward and guiding you to stand up. You looked at him, eyes glossy and brows furrowed, confused.
He sighed amusedly, “I think it’s time for bed.”
Slight slurred protests began to slip out of your lips but were stopped when you wobbled and had to grip onto the top of the chair for balance. The engineer’s hold on your arm tightened and your exhaustion was too heavy to resist as he began leading you towards the driver’s rooms.
You glanced back at the screen showing your boyfriend’s perspective of the car, not wanting to leave but knowing that it’s probably for the best. There wasn’t any action going on, every driver was tired, nobody was pulling any dangerous moves. It was safe enough to walk away, just for a little bit, just this once.
The door to Lando’s driver’s room was opened and you settled onto the small sofa in the corner, wrapping yourself in a papaya-coloured blanket. Darkness enveloped the room as the engineer flipped the switch, shutting the door quietly behind him and leaving you to your thoughts for all of two seconds before a soft voice filled your ears. You’d forgotten to take the headphones off.
Lando spoke to his team, his voice calm and soothing, almost as if he knew you were falling into the depths of unconsciousness in that moment. He was safe. You felt safe.
The second he’d hauled himself out of the car, helmet removed, and interviews finished up, he was on the search for you. Often, you would wander off as soon as the car had been parked, for a bathroom break or to have a quick snack, refusing to do it during the race.
He walked back to his room as fast as possible, weaving between hundreds of people who he didn’t bother giving the time of day. Usually, he would’ve stopped and had a little chat, but it was so, so late and his whole body felt like it was about to crumble. All he wanted was to find you, get changed and make the small trek back to your shared hotel room.
The door was unlocked when he arrived, a sure sign that you were inside and waiting. But when he opened the door ready to be greeted with a sweet kiss, all he was met with was complete darkness. Weird.
His hand reached for the switch and light flooded the room. Sure enough, there you were, cuddled up in his bright orange blanket and sound asleep. Your face was half covered and smushed into the arm rest, knees curled into yourself and a set of headphones askew on top of your mussed hair.
The smile that had etched itself onto his face grew when he noticed the headphones. You’d fallen asleep whilst listening to him talk, even when he wasn’t with you. Even when you were jetlagged, cold, and exhausted, you still made sure he was okay. His chest warmed at the thought.
Lando placed the bottle of water he was holding down onto the table beside him, trying his best to be as quiet as possible as he changed from his suit to a hoodie. You didn’t move a muscle, only light breaths filling the silent space.
You looked so peaceful, lashes fluttering every so often. The urge to try and squeeze himself onto the sofa with you was strong, but the more logical side of him told him that it was finally time to head back to the hotel, and if you stayed in that position much longer then your neck would be unbearably stiff by tomorrow morning. He loved you more than anything in the world, so he knew you well enough to know that you would be moaning to him about it once you’d woken up, and not the moaning that he enjoyed hearing.
Carefully, he brushed the tips of his fingers across your cheek, moving a few stray strands of hair. Your cheeks were warm, a contrast to Lando’s cool touch that caused you to pull your face away and tuck it further into the safety of his blanket. His lips twitched slightly. You would hate him for this now, but thank him later, he thought, as he swiftly curled his fingers around the edge of the blanket and pulled it down.
Your skin, exposed to the night air, broke out into goosebumps as you wrapped your arms tighter around yourself. Lando slowly rubbed his palm up and down your arm, bringing his lips to your forehead and kissing you softly.
Your eyelids fluttered open, pupils narrowing to the bright light of the room as an almost silent groan escaped you.
Your eyes darted around for a moment before landing on your boyfriend, crouched down beside you with his hand stroking your hair. He was smiling at you lovingly, eyes squinted and laced with a tinge of mischief. “G’morning, baby.”
You didn’t reply, instead choosing to open your mouth in a yawn directed straight at his face. He chuckled quietly.
“I think it’s time we get you to bed, hm?”
You rested your head back against the armrest, closing your eyes once more, “I’m already in bed.”
“I’m sure you are.” He said, before rising back up to his full height and slipping one hand underneath your neck, wrapping his arm around your shoulders, and the other around the back of your knees. Your hand instinctively curled around his bicep as you were lifted into the air, taking note in the back of your mind at how effortlessly he seemed to manoeuvre you.
As Lando began to carefully place you onto your feet, a wave of adoration filled you to the core. He’d just been working for hours straight, and yet here he was taking care of you. The love you had for this boy was absolutely unmatched.
And what better way to show him this than by using the little energy you had restored during your nap to rise onto your tiptoes and press a sweet kiss against his awaiting lips.

In response to all the catcalling comments when they were "official" Carmine responded with a picture of Velvette when they were on a date "I don't know why I'm getting all the attention when the most beautiful woman in Hell is right there."
Needless to say Hell's version of Twitter is (V I guess since it is X now) exploded and Velvette was so flustered.
DUDEEE OH MY GOD WAIT UR SO FUCKING RIGHT HOLY SHIT . the picture is like her with velvette who was caught off guard by the photo so shes just looking at the camera like a deer in headlights and when she gets the notification later for carmilla's post she goes AAAHBGJAHSDFGAIDNFBSNDDGH !?!??!?!??!??!?!? (the other vees cant understand how she made that sound)
carmilla loves to stare at that picture btw. because she got velvette when she wasn't posing for the camera or being super flashy. shes just kinda, there, not doing something dramatic; its just a picture . and carmilla loves to look at it (and loves velvette's slightly shocked and confused face, god shes cute, did she say that out loud?)

Yes of course! I'm so glad you did, and I'd be more than happy to do some more posts about Mario game scenes!
Now, originally I had thought to keep it to more obscure games, or at least games that aren't talked about as much, like Super Mario 3d world. But I'm very stressed and exhausted at the moment, and I'm indulging with one of my favourite Mario games, so perhaps....
Overly Analyzing Luigi's Mansion 3; Mario Rescue cutscene

So, in order to rescue Mario, the player has to defeat the hotel owner, Hellen Gravely in her office. Each boss ghost has their own unique animation before being sucked into the Poltergust G-00, and hers is to demand Luigi pause long enough for her to apply her make up. Queen moment, if I'm to be honest.
Luigi also has a celebration animation after he defeats ghosts and bosses, and here he tosses his hat off in celebration. It's such a cute moment; he's been constantly terrified in this haunted hotel, but he's so proud of himself for conquering this particularly scary obstacle!
Now, the main reason I'm looking at this scene today. Luigi uses the Dark-Light feature of the Poltergust to rescue Mario from the portrait he was trapped in. Said portrait was hanging up in Hellen's office, and she used it to taunt Luigi to come fight her to save his brother, I should add.
Mario falls from the painting and is seemingly dazed and confused at first. Unlike in the first game, the portraits here are frozen, unmoving images, so it takes Mario a moment of checking out his body and arms to realize he's free.
The second he looks up at Luigi, though, he instantly lights up. I recommend you check out the scene for yourself, because the way he bounces up and stretches his arms out as he goes "OH YEAH!" is so cute and expressive. They really outdid themselves with the cutscenes in this game.
Mario runs over to Luigi, exclaiming "Way to go, Luigi!" and his joyful energy is immediately returned by Luigi. Luigi spreads his arm, happily exclaiming "Mario!" while Mario jumps into his arms and just. Look at them.
Look at them.

I can't even begin to describe how happy this makes me. Mario jumping right into Luigi's arms like it's so natural and common for them to do, Luigi's leg lifting up as he catches Mario, Luigi holding Mario up for a split second, Luigi's loud "MARIO, hey bro!" it's so tender and wholesome. This is the kinda sibling energy I wanna see with them!
There's so much display and affection and trust on display here in just a few seconds of animation. And there's just something about Luigi being the one to do the hug lifting that's just, so cute. Chefs kiss, no notes, perfect scene.
Luigi sets Mario back down on his feet, and I love that this shot allows us to see Mario's perspective. While this is overall a very joyful and upbeat scene, I think it's nice to also show Mario getting some much needed comfort after his third time being rescued from a portrait in the Luigi's Mansion series, poor guy.
Very briefly, before they step back, Luigi is also shown patting Mario's back with his hand. Again, even though Luigi has navigated this hotel scared out of his mind, the fact that he's shown to be consciously giving his brother some show of comfort is adorable.
Luigi steps back and they both laugh, Mario placing his hand on Luigi's shoulder. They're both equally happy to be reunited! Smaller note, but Luigi appears to be ever so slightly bending his knees, probably to be closer to Mario. Yes the height difference between them really isn't that noticeable, but I'll take what I can get, okay?
For a second, the scene lingers as they simply stare at each other in relief. Then Luigi seems to snap back to it, having a small "wait a minute-" moment as he looks at the camera.
Immediately, Mario's smile drops too, and his hand drops off Luigi's shoulder as he straightens up. You can tell Luigi kinda forget where they were for a moment, probably because of how relieved he was to see Mario again, and now he's remembering that oh yeah, they're kinda stuck in a haunted hotel with a giant Boo that specifically has it out for them.
Luigi grabs Mario by the shoulder and exclaims, "Come on! This way!" clearly referring to Professor E Gadd's lab.
A bit of context for those who haven't played the game; before rescuing Mario, the player rescues the three Toads who also accompanied them on the vacation trip to the hotel, and every time Luigi escorts them to the elevator so they can stay in E Gadd's lab, safe and sound from the ghosts. So we can infer Luigi's immediate thought was to also get Mario there, so he wouldn't be in danger anymore :'3
He keeps his arm on Mario's shoulder, and grabs his other hand to literally start leading him in the direction of the elevator. Which is just.... so precious. Literally "I just got you back and you are not leaving my side until I know you're safe" energy. They care so much about each other guys. I love protective big bro Mario with all my heart, but protective Luigi fretting and worrying over Mario's wellbeing is so special too.
However, unlike the Toads who were more than happy to stay in the safer lab, Mario has other plans.
While wiggling out of Luigi's gripe, Mario corrects him with "Ah ah, ah ah, this way!" and pulls him back into the office. Luigi's confused, and his hand reflexively almost reaches for the Poltergust since they're heading back in the direct of danger (or it could just be his arm swinging back from Mario's pull, but again, over analyzing.)
The camera pans over to reveal the wall with the portrait Mario was trapped in on it.
Mario turns back to Luigi, clearly gung-ho and ready to go. We don't see much of Luigi's face, but I like to think he had an "oh no, not this again-" expression, because he knows exactly what Mario is about to do.
Mario gestures over his shoulder with a "Come on!" and takes off, leaving Luigi to startle and raise his hand. Here we get their classic dynamic; Mario, head strong and determined, running recklessly right into the action, and Luigi, timid and cautious, taking a moment to really sit and think about the situation.
Mario throws himself at the sliding wall and pushes it aside, demonstrating some serious physical strength. That's a pretty thick wall, with a portrait and tv screen on it to boot, but he manages to throw it open fairly easy.
Once past that, we see Mario stumble a bit from the momentum of pushing the wall. He immediately sets himself upright, gesturing again for Luigi to "Come on!" without much of a pause. Again, so much character on display here; Mario is flinging himself right into the action, and while he isn't particularly clumsy, he's practically stumbling from how fast he's pushing himself.
You can read this as that's simply in Mario's heroic nature - to run right into danger without so much as a second thought - but you can also read it as him being ecstatic to be out of that portrait. Even though he knows at this point that King Boo is waiting for them and Princess Peach still needs saving, he's still smiling and urging Luigi to follow him, like they're on an adventure. This is much more his speed, as opposed to being the one needing a rescue.
So Mario opens the door, not bothering to actually wait for Luigi, and continues on ahead. I read it as a bit of his impulsiveness with charging ahead, and also as trust that Luigi will follow him anywhere - albeit at his own pace.
For a split second, Luigi hesitates with a confuse "Mario?". Even though he knows his brother, he probably wasn't expecting Mario to bounce back so quickly. But hey, if his brother is still willing to forge on ahead even though he just escaped a trapped portrait, Luigi can't hold himself back either, can he?
He grabs his flashlight and exclaims a energized "Okay!". Again, keep in mind that this whole game, Luigi has been terrified out of his wits and scared of every obstacle in his way. But now having his brother back has him grinning and ready to face the challenges up ahead. The way they inspire courage in each other can actually be so personal-
Even though Luigi's Mansion 3 came out first, and the two don't really have a lot of connections outside of being based on the same property, I can't help but connect the new movie's "Nothing can hurt us, as long as we're together!" theme to this scene here.
Such a good scene, great animation and personality on display. Literally my only complaint is that I want more of well thought out cutscenes in Super Mario games in general.
Oh, and more bro hugs. Definitely more bro hugs.

SPOILER WARNING FOR WORKIN BOYS, I BREAK DOWN MY FAVOURITE SHOTS. SPOILERS WILL BE HERE. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
Okay here's my opinion:
Curt being the DP for Workin' boys is the best thing that coulda happened to it. There are so many choices that were made during filming that just absolutely heighten the level of comedy. It's shot like a Mockumentary almost? The shakycam and the randomized movement? As someone who wrote a Mockumentary last year, I can only dream of pulling off a film like this.
A couple things I wanna point out:
-the minuscule push in on Hidgens when he realises he won the workshop competition feels very office-ey.
-the cut back to MK's amused face had me WHEEZING
-the pan over to Paul as be reminds Hidgens to remember the changes
-"apparently a musical about six men bonding on a football field isnt 'of the times..."'etc, this line right here felt like a talking head, I appreciated it.
-those time cards eg: "Rehearsal #2, 28 days until opening" lent itself so much to the documentarian feel of it.
-"wow, what an auteur", not a camerawork comment but I appreciate the joke for all of the film and theater theory studiers
-the "rehearsal montage" I love a good meta joke.
-even in this montage, the camera is never really onstage. At all. Like, it's always situated off to the side or in the audience, and then zoomed in, the documentarian is trying to capture all of the action on stage instead of trying to make us feel immersed in the rehearsal process. We're not really aligned with any of the characters, we're an audience, and we better stay that way. For our own sake.
-and then this dynamic totally changes, and shifts away from the mockumentary feel
-but I'll get to that in a second
-henry is almost always by himself in the shot. I think the one of the only other times that the entirety of another character's face is seen alongside Henry's (I mean, both faces are CLEAR and uncovered in the shot) is in the two shot of him and Paul's stage manager in the rehearsal montage. He is totally singular in his experiences with this show! He is not one of these girls, if anything he is opposed to them. And this becomes clearer later, but it's a nice seed to sow, establishing that he is not in a collaborative mindset at all. The only other time I can think of is him and Zoey behind the curtain, even then, the only time both of their faces are actually IN the shot is when they're behind all the workin' girls. There's probably more but ykwim.
-also the sheer number of times that Henry is off centre in the shot with just a bunch of space surrounding him.
-okay after "two week notice" or whatever tf that song is called (Kim sounds amazing as always) is when the style shifts. It feels less like a mockumentary and more like this sort of voyeuristic peek into Henry's psyche. I LOVE IT.
-the fact that he is never shown in the shot with the workin' boys! It makes you absolutely feel like he is just talking to the air around him (this is hatchetfield so who knows, either way its unsettling)
-we get aligned with ruth, for the first time, we see the audience from the perspective of a character, not just from a stage POV
-the camera roll!! We don't get a full rotation but we feel dizzy and unsettled when we look at ruth, which is exactly how she feels!
-camera roll close up on Zoey. Uncomfortable, unsettling! Rests in a canted angle before continuing to roll on Hidgens! Who is centered in a low angle shot! We don't see the axe until he brings it up to his face! He is not only in a position of power here, but revealing the axe only when Henry makes it clear he is gonna kill them makes it clear that he calls the shots! We've departed from the Mockumentary style completely, as if this was never a documentary to begin with, more like we're flies on the wall or spirits in the theater or omniscient eldritch beings... anyway-
-long shot of Henry dragging zoey's body, no footage of them being killed, aligns us with the audience
-our friend the camera is getting shakey again, the chaos is in the process of ensueing
-THE PULL OUT SHOT OF GRACE WITH THE GUN. I GASPED. I KNEW IT WAS GONNA HAPPEN AND I GASPED. Fun fact on my first watch I thought this was a dolly shot but I dont think y'all are fitting a dolly on the Hudson theater main stage steps, and also the distance is too short so it must have been a pull out. It was REALLY SMOOTH.
-notice, when grace quotes the bible, we are EVER SO SLIGHTLY looking up at her. It gets progressively more obvious the further she gets into the line, but she has the power now. Somehow she always ends up with the fuckin' power, maybe I should convert to christianity smh.
-shakeycam is back again baby!
The creative minds put so much love and care into Hatchetfield, and you can tell that every project is a passion project. People know starkid primarily as a theater company, and that's great and all, but in reality it's an Avenue for all kind of creatives to not only have the opportunity to create all kinds of amazing things, let alone theater, but also have a way to show people. It's moved past being a theater company, with things like Starkid returns and Workin' boys, it's more like a production collective, and it feels like the beginning of a new era. Not only in terms of broadening the way that they Express themselves and be creative, but also in terms of finding a new niche in the industry. Finding a new, wider audience. Because yeah, you're always gonna have people that dislike the new media you produce, for nostalgia's sake or whatever, but beyond that, there are going to be be people that absolutely love what you have to offer. There's no point in trying to revert back to the way it was before, or trying to cater specifically to an audience from an era gone by. How do you grow as an artist if you're always thinking in the past? Starkid is moving in a new direction. The next musical is likely not going to be hatchetfield, but I dont even mind because it's going to be new. New is always good, and Starkid has a bright future.
TL;DR @curtmega you're a literal genius, and starkid is TOTALLY AWESOME

hey wsg cockmented! what are your tips on colours poses and shit
Hello Hist Histo Gold Historix . this is a really hard quesitons
im not very good at tips and tricks but here's what i do:
fiurst i really like pinterest here's my 2000+ pin board for art inspiration
for colors there are some things that seem right according to the Cogmented Guidelines which is just tone, atmosphere, feeling, balling, ETC...
out of the three art classes ive taken in my life all of which were in my most recent school years has been in charcoal, so a lot of what i pick is based on values too: ill turn the canvas black and white using hue blending mode, or take a picture on my phone and turn it black and white for real life things
my main goal for character pieces is to make the focus stand out but also be cohesive with the background, so ill use different values to differentiate those if colors are similar. red is much darker than yellow, even at the highest saturation, u get it. the rest is just using opposites on the color wheel
i also tend to use blending modes.. usually around 2-3 layers?
these are my base colors
kinda hard to distinguish zam in the values, yeah? and planet's shoes are far too bright, i want planets face and arms and closed fists to be their focus
i use a wide variety of the blending modes, but here both of these worked to darken the characters while increasing their saturation
the similar qualities on the characters make them cohesive with each other despite the wildly different designs and colors.. this could also just be a "style" thing that makes it cohesive but that gets more into shapes and how i draw and i dont think i could even explain that
there's also just general inspirations.. i chose a light blue background for this probably because i was subconsciously inspired by an 8 year old pmv of hawkfrost and ivypool by m0zarts using the song that is in the caption (personal by stars) AND because it's a softer color outside of planet's intense pinks and zam's yellows
this is called like triadic color palette i think i cant remember
there are always exceptions to rules and based on the atmosphere i will make the character blend in more e.g.:
for poses jii dont know i have visions in my head AND pinterest boards: 1 2
a lot of my art is expressive through poses instead of expressions because most of my designs dont have the capabilities for human expression; you're left with actions and body language (im also mad alexithymic so that's probably another reason why)
ignoring general atmosphere and art style, both are big movements but hold very different emotions ^_^ sharp and angry and desperate vs gay and carefree
the use of perspective further helps the emotions within poses, lower views make a character more intimidating, etc etc you get it for sure.
if you want to go hard on perspective, colors/lighting, and composition i highly recommend taking a film class or course or watching a video idk or something related to media-making.. drawing and film are very similar especially in regards to things like storyboarding.. the rule of thirds and camera angles that depict feeling are soo helpful to have in the back of your mind shoutout my one film and media class from 7th grade

While I was reading your slider oneshot for the third time (sooooo good btw, i cant say enough how much i love your writing), I kept thinking about Ice and Sliders conversation about Carole-[“Me and Carole?” Ice said, thinking it over. He smiled his bitter, bashful smile— “Yeah, we might’ve worked out, once. I won’t get into the details. We tried it out. But I don’t think the timing was right.”]-What is Ice referencing here?? Is he referring to when Carole kissed him? Or did I miss something (entirely possible tbh)? I really felt like Mav when I read that scene ["What do Admiral Kazansky and Carole Bradshaw get up to when he doesn’t know about it?"]
The parallel of Mav being [redacted] with Goose and Carole liking/loving/pining for Ice. Wow! So deliciously complex. What an interesting little love square they have going on. Bradley and his four parents.
But man...Carole really is such a tragic figure in both canon and your fic. But I really really love the depth of emotion that you give her in the glimpses that we get. Her relationships with both Mav and Ice are so interesting and layered. They just feel very real. I really really loved the gimpse of her point of view you gave us in the Dad!Ice fic (the half empty box of cigarettes!! I still think about that)
this is such a sweet ask. thank you. yes he was referring to her kissing him (not really “trying it out,” to be fair, but he’s also trying to “prove” to slider that he’s still interested in women, so he’s using even the most tangential of evidence and holding it up like “see? See? not gonna give you all the details but Trust Me bro we tried it out😎”)
& also here’s from my notes in my printed-out copy of my fics from last OCTOBER (whoa). Referring to the scene in the hospital when Carole gives ice & maverick the instructions to pull Bradley’s USNA app & suggests she & ice have discussed it previously (they haven’t).
Carole is pretty much the only person who is around both Ice & mav enough to know the truth of who they are. (Slider also recognizes this— “ice let Carole Bradshaw see his happiness but not slider… :( que cruel”. And the whole “she is literally the only camera capturing icemav’s happiness on film for the historical record” section of slider
.) And Carole therefore is the only person to whom ice quite literally cannot deny that he & maverick are together, because she… has eyes. And is their best friend. and they’re raising her kid with her. So that sets her up as like a confessional character, in that ice HAS to be truthful with her in a way he isn’t with anyone else, including… his literal boyfriend maverick. so it’s a pretty easy leap for Maverick to be like, It’s a given that ice does not honestly want to be with me, a man -> but he is honest about his feelings with Carole, a woman who has expressed interest in him, behind my back (“what do admiral Kazansky & Carole Bradshaw get up to when he doesn’t know about it?”) -> Omg they’re having a heterosexual emotional affair. Which, like, they totally might be? which is why i keep going back to the *possibility* that they might have worked out once, had it not been for the simultaneous timing of ice falling in love with maverick, since ice is also Bradley’s no. 1 dad figure in my story. Which slider points out.
From a heterosexual family planning perspective, ice & Carole together just kinda makes sense. In a way that everyone in the story recognizes, for better or worse.

cuz i looked it up and read somewhere he's 5'7 but if brig is 6'3 and these two are right next to each other, like almost shoulder to shoulder ...how does he (at least to me) look a minimum of 5'9-5'10 maybe even 6ft if you push it?
additionally right before this in that scene he looks taller than Mercy(I've seen she's 5'7?), but that could be camera angle as she's like a foot or two away?

I swear they are forever making Genji taller, in some of the first pictures we have of the cyborg he's tiny, but over time dude gets sm taller! like in this photo from Recall he's like 5'8ish compared to mercy (who is in heels) but he's like a foot shorter then Cass even though Cass is 6'1.
then Genji standing next to brig (who is 6'3) in Zero Hour he's JUST shorter then her.
and from some research online Kiriko is also 5'7(ish), which makes this new post for the Collab event even more confusing!
i might be the only one who cares about this, but it is so confusing (and funny). He just seems to be getting taller!!! and we cant even say he was a teen at the time and hit a growth spirt or something since the recall picture, cuz he was like 25-27+ at that time from what i can tell. and its not that his cybernetic legs are just longer because to cause him to be this much taller, he would be so disproportionate!
They could be retconning his height some what? but I don't see why they would? overall...i just have no idea XD

its not perfect due to the cameras heights being at slightly different perspectives due to height differences, but I did match the bots height so they are all the same so its as direct of a comparison as I can do myself. I also didn't use Brig because I don't have any emotes for her.
Now we know Lw is 7ft tall, Hanzo is 5'8 and mercy is 5'7, but we don't actually know Genji's cannon height! and people say he's 5'7 but he cant be!
and then when you compare heights this is the only height for genji that really makes sense for this scale, but that even is odd because of Kiriko. SO THAT MEAN GENJI IS LIKE 6FT AND KIRIKO IS WAY SHORTER THEN FIRST THOUGHT?!?!?

-chays fits so well from a symbolic, “stands are a reflection of ones soul” perspective too. Like even though he’s a warrior, at heart he the main thing he cares about is taking care of his family though both physical protection and just general wellbeing. Such a good pick for him
-Hermit purple is such a good pick with tallulah. Im imagining phil sighing as he pulls out another camera for her to destroy before they eventually start having super cheap ones on hand for that exact purpose
-Listen i see purple haze for leo, i get it i can see the vision. But my fugo loving brain refuses to let go of what purple haze means for him as a stand symbolically and wants to give it to q!cellbit EVEN THOUGH WERE ONLY TALKING ABOUT THE EGGS.
Anyways in context of only assigning stands to the eggs 100% i think she should get out purple haze, but if were talking about everyone i also think born this way would be a really good fit for her and i cant quite explain why outside of the vibes just mathcing in my head
-sunny would so be besties with emerald green. Like tubbo would have to not only give sunny stuff but also it. I can totally see her giving it a nickname and its own room and stuff
-Your so right about empanda having yasuho vibes. Something about the crypticness of the power of paisley park coupled with all the shit both the characters have been though mashes really well together
- Bohemian rhapsody is so fucking funny for pepito. Especially because like idk if youve ever read any jojo’s fanfics but theirs this really good one called chimera were long story short the ascended version of dio from eyes over heaven goes to another universe and just fucks with the dio their by basically forcing him on a part jumping self-betterment arc? Anyways during it the author had the reason ungalo’s life became so shit was because he accidentally used his stand to make the story of holes come true with him acting as the main character and now every tine i think about that stand i cant not think of that.
But anyways him and roier would abuse the fuck out of his stand and it would in fact be hilarious
-As a giorno lover, dapper is so giorno coded. He would be so fucking unstoppable with that stand even without it being its requiem version. I can so see him using it to fuck with his dad for funnsies too.
-Pomme would be so sweet to the pistols too, she would make sure they get the best treats. I think at first she would struggle with keeping them in line but with etoiles help she would be the perfect balance of stern and sweet.
-richas with heavens door would be the absolute worst. Like the biggest menace ever. He would use it on his parents to make it so they could never give him a bath again and then they would have to find a work around for what doesnt count as bath but still technically got him clean until their able to convince him to reverse it.

working on a new vegas doctor costume
first 2 pics are the main bag, the rest of the costume pieces (and my thoughts) are under the break
healing powder (crushed orange pez and candy cigarettes in a burlap bag), ophthalmoscope (a weathered otoscope because the item name in the game is wrong), sunset sarsaparilla deputy badge (worth every dead wastelander), surgical tubing, medical tweezers, forceps, gauze, mentats, fixer, jet, med-x, buffout, rad-x, and cateye. also a small mojave express mail pouch with some ncr currency, postcards, and the platinum chip (might roughen some of these up to look less new)
all of these bags are belt pouches to mimic the ones on the wasteland doctor fatigues outfit
bufftats (not new vegas, but eh, it came with the other pill bottles), first aid box (came with the med-x, it has tiny buffout and rad-x bottles in it), and a box of atomic wrangler matches
microfusion cell and vault 21 matches
cigarettes and a vault 21 lighter (you see how often doctors smoke in that game??? clearly they need this many lights)
gotta keep your caravan deck in easy reach, never know when a game might kick off...
bobby pins, a tin of bottle caps, tops casino dice, and a set of poker chips (ring a ding ding baby)
the "codac r9000" michael angelo gives you. even if these old kodak cameras are dirt cheap, i still feel bad messing one up to make it look more like the game file, so natural aging only on this one
the main costume itself: mirrored shades, the wastland doctor fatigues (green cargo pants and a white tee, need to dirty them up and blood spatter them), bandana, leather belt, and a replica colt peacemaker in a leather holster (i have a foam one for conventions, this one is a metal replica from denix that looks better on camera)
i have the materials to make rad-away, and i might throw that in this costume somehow. just worried about a bag of dyed water sitting over the rest of these sharp and/or fragile pieces while walking around
i went with a variety of bags/pouches because in my head, it makes no sense for someone using 200yo scavenged materials to have all matching equipment. it makes sense from the game design perspective (less Things To Model), but i see it more likely these were pieced together from scavenging, bartering, and hand making them.
i have the pipboy from the fo4 preorder, but im probably not going to use it for this outfit. its the wrong design for one, but its also plasticy and barely fits my arm (you have to basically cover my hand to get the clamps closed). i prefer this being pre-game courier six, or just some random wandering doctor who does odd jobs for mojave express on the side.
you might notice some major missing props! this mostly has to do with space or cost. i love nuka cola and sunset sarsaparilla, but how on earth am i fitting those bottles in a shoulder bag. as for stimpacks? 2 main reasons. 1, even basic unpainted 3d printed ones are $30+, which seemed excessive for this. 2? those seem more like adrenaline and painkillers meant to get you through battle and less like something a doc would administer. why cover the pain when i can just clean the wound and stitch you up?
im still debating if/how i do the leather gaiters on the doctor fatigues outfit. i cant find anything even close to right, and im not a leatherworker. i have a feeling if i just tuck the pants into my boots, nobody will notice anyway.
i have to stop myself on this one. i keep finding things to add or modify and at this rate itll never be finished. i already have a pair of surgical scissors coming, and i got a harmonica today. those may or may not end up in the bag. plus, ive got my eye on a deck of caravan cards pulled from the game files. the one i have is the preorder bonus one which is a beautiful deck but not very lore friendly.
still trying to figure out how to make/get the bottles they use for antivenom and other potions/poisons in the game. its weirdly hard to find white clay or stone bottles with a cork top and round bottom...
see what i mean! this build will never end...

the main reason i dislike this episode and need for speed is because zack doesnt ever get to learn. he was impulsive and it was bad in duke of vermeer, he was impulsive and it was bad in boston tea (okay fine, it shows us his younger self! fine with that) BUT THEN HE IS IMPULSIVE AND ITS BAD AGAIN NEXT TIME. FOR THE SAME REASONS whyyy wouldn't they take duke of vermeer as an opportunity to show his growth instead of making him out to be some angry no control childish idiot who sacrifices untold amounts for a little payback. and drags ivy down with him EVERY TIME
there's something so cool and sinister about ivy smiling, reassuring him, and then slowly pulling down the ski mask to hide any emotion. ivy and zack seem like they could have been prime targets for VILE recruitment- they could have gone down a much darker path

So..I watched "The Dragon of doom" and... what they did with Goemon upsets me(
(This is obviously just my opinion based on the first viewing of this movie and it's great if you disagree, i would honestly love to see a different perspective on this! I just REALLY need to vent :") )
First of all, Goemon feels out of character. Being serious, especially when it comes to something that has to do with his ancestors IS something that i would expect from him. However, being almost hostile towars Lupin and Jigen - is NOT. He pushes them away and outright threatens them with death in the very beginning. We do not get to see Goemon being genuinely friendly or at the very least chill with them, wich in my opinion is very bad. Especially because he doesn't have any problems being calm with Kikyo. This, along with a later scene, just make it seem like being hostile is just a default for him when interacting with Lupin and Jigen..and i hope i do not need to explain why this is AWFUL characterization for him!!
Speaking of friendship, why doesn't it bother Goemon that he needs to fight his freinds to obtain the dragon? I mean, maybe he was bothered, but off camera, but...Why not show this ??? That would have been in character for him and potentially could have aded some nuance to the plot. And i mean, there is literaly a scene where he says Kikyo that no matter who wants to steal the dragon from them, he will fight them. Why not end this scene with her telling Goemon that he will need to fight Jigen and Lupin, leaving him shocked or something? Just something to make this conflict more interesting and more minigful. And why Lupin himself isn't acknowledging that this is...wrong in any meaningful way? I can see why he didn't suspect
Because as it is right now Goemon is basically another an obstacle for Lupin to overcome, without any emotional connection to him or Jigen. You may say that im paying to much attention to this aspect of the story, but in this is movie Goemons ancestors, his sword, Kikyo (who is his childhood friend apparently) are all very important. Even The Dragon of Doom was maide by one of his ancestors, if i understood correctly. Why in a movie like this is Goemon himself so poorly written? And why he barely gets any meaningful screentime for himself?
Look, i understand that budget and screentime are not infinite and obviously Lupin should have more screentime because he is the main character..But this is just bad(
Maybe im just stupid, but im genuinely really confused and frustrated by this movie and what they chose to do with Goemon in it. There was so much potential, i like the idea of this movie and its conflict...but i cant get over how it was executed
But again, im not a very smart person, so...what do YOU think?

in early 2020 i resized this wool vest by taking a long weird dart out of the back armpit (last two pictures) and turned what had been a sundress with a weird poofy drawstring bodice into a skirt and two matching his & theirs masks (the he is in the picture, the they is holding the camera). i didnt take before pictures because why would i ever do that??
my hips and especially belly have gotten a lot bigger since then (yay!) + my propensity for overloading the pockets weight-wise means the crappy string elastic has blown out and i need to figure out a new waist situation for it. i'd to add a little length to the waist while i'm at it bc from a sensory perspective, i prefer high waisted bottoms and i cant stand pants or skirts that hit above the ankle bone and it's not long enough right now to reach both
my favorite things about this project were that i used every single part of the dress i started with. the back bodice became the two pockets at the front (i started with a single kangaroo pocket design but i kept losing things so i separated them by topstitching down the center). the front bodice was cut in half, as was the drawstring, and that became the two masks
and that i got to rework something my partner had liked wearing pretransition. ive been in a couple of trans masc 4 trans fem relationships in which they are the masc and i am the fem and we are both trans guys and i get a real kick out of wearing something so obviously fem coded as a skirt and saying 'a butch gave this to me this is butch handmedowns i'm wearing my butch look today i'm a BUTCH' all the while im speaking the gayest little david sedaris ass lisp you could ever hope to hear

I'm very interested in seeing what Dusk's actual plan is next episode, because, in reality, they have really botched this entire mission from an outside perspective.
(Disclaimer: Ishii is wonderful, and this is not an attack against their playing style or choices. This is about Dusk and where we are in the narrative)
According to Zathuda, Dusk's mission is to steal the Moontide Crown and "deal with the Calloways." Dusk did a fantastic job of infiltrating the Hells and earning Fearne's trust, which lead to her attending the meeting with Birdie.... and then they just fucked around for 2 days.
If you're Dusk (I will use this name until we know their real one), I would want to have Fearne and her parents isolated as much as possible. Dusk is only level 8, and knows what the Bell's Hells can do in battle. They know they can't fight 7 accomplished fighters on their own, therefore it would make sense to get her away from the group. However, outside of Dusk's conversation with Fearne about Chetney, Dusk never makes any attempt to try to isolate Fearne from the rest of the Bell's Hells. She never sows any doubt about their loyalty. Never recommends just the two of them meeting Birdie. Nothing.
If (and that is a big if) her flirting with Laudna and Orym was to create division within the group, it failed. At best, it was a temporary distraction that lead to half the group questioning Dusk's motives by the end of the last episode. It's just as likely that Dusk was simply bored, and felt like flirting or manipulating the group for shits-and-giggles. Zathuda has already suggested that Dusk is easily "distracted" by this realm.
The Run would have been a great opportunity to take out one or 2 members of the Bell's Hells without raising suspicion, but that opportunity never came. Instead, they choose to save Laudna's life. Why? Dusk cant possibly care for Laudna after knowing her for one day. Having the Hells at full strength the next day for your meeting only hurts you.
What happens next at Imahara Joe's will determine whether Dusk really has a plan at all. Not only have they failed to isolate Fearne and her parents, they're outnumbered in a building full of weapons that can be used against Dusk. Matt made it very clear that there are War Machines in Joe's shop. Does Dusk plan to use them? Has the secretive rolls and texts between Matt and Erika been more than just perception checks and ease dropping? Has Dusk been relaying information to her Patron off camera? Have they called for back-up? Or has Zathuda expected Dusk to fail, and sent more men to clean up their mess? There is no way this can be an 8-on-1 battle, especially since you cannot teleport with unwilling creatures.
Ultimately, either Dusk has been planning things off screen, or Zathuda is right that he may have made a mistake with trusting Dusk for this mission.

im prolly abusing the ask feature sdjfkgh but Ace having Marco backstage for one of his shows to help him cause Ace was faring a little worse than usual that week and wanted Marco's help between photoshoots.
This is Marco's first time seeing Ace in action and no wonder he's always complaining about how tired and sore he is, Ace absolutely goes for it and the DP is in love with him. Marco feels so warm inside watching him because despite how miserable he may seem from an outsider's perspective, seeing Ace up there, he looks like he's having the time of his life and it's so wonderful to see him so happy.
After the shoot is over he can't find Ace. He's not too worried but he was thinking of treating Ace to coffee (completely platonic in his eyes, he just wants to congratulate Ace on a great session) and eventually he just grabs his bag and starts to head out and as he walks to the backdoor is about to walk out, he hears hushed hisses and whispers and immediately he knows it sounds off. He heads down the hallway closer to the noises and turns the corner and there's a producer with his hands on Ace's wrists and Ace is pushed against a wall and he's shaking and panicky and the producer and Marco are frozen staring at each other and Marco immediately and instantly Knows

I love all of this, you genuinely saved me mentally anon, bc i wasnt bueno for the past hour or two but I read this like five times its embarrassing but it was a good distraction and grounded me emotionally so for that thank you sincerely
Super mushy uwuwing over the concept of Marco coming to one of Ace’s shoots, gets to see him with a full face of makeup not that he needs much in his personal opinion however he doesnt know much abt that to begin with so any amount done on Ace by a professional would look amazing anyway to him
And the way Marco knows Ace is probably hurting standing and cycling through all the poses the director wants from him, he does so with grace and confidence without a shred of discomfort, until the camera shutter stops clicking then he can pull a face when no one is looking and Marco can check on him 🥺
Going absolutely feral over the second part though, where Marco just wants to grab some coffee for them, someone tipped him off that Ace was soft for mochas and had decided to treat him to one but when he cant find Ace figures he can do so next time Ace comes for his check up in a few days time, maybe shoot a message to check on him if he doesnt see him on the way out
And then your scenario above and Ace isnt small or weak, Marco knows all about the rigorous training models of his weight category goes through, he lets Ace vent about it during their physio sessions (❤️) but with a leg injury weakened by several hours of standing and posing on it, hadnt done him many favours and the fucking producer had used that weakness against Ace to pin him, took advantage of his shock and bad leg to take the upper hand
And . I wanna know what you think happens next anon, i think it would be way better than whatever i could come up with right now bc head empty a little compromised aha
