New Ult Biases?: other than jinjin and donghun my top forever beloveds, my ult line has been chaos this year. i would say right now i consider kun, woozi and suho new additions to my ult line! i did bias kun before but he claimed ult status this year.

✦ how i got into them: they have made occasional appearances on my playlists since i got into kpop but i knew Nothing About Them really until last year when the besties and i decided to go see mx because we saw a tiktok that was like "guys there's still so many seats left for mx in february!!!" and we famously will go to any kpop concert for $60 or less. anyway that galvanized me into really delving in and rook @20cm kindly ushered me into mx land and next thing you know i ult them. and that concert later got postponed and by the time it finally rolled around i lost my mind entirely and sold our original tickets and spent Money for good seats. no regrets tho
✦ which member would be my best friend: laughing like... i DO think kihyun and i would in fact get along but the ideal bestie scenario is that i am friends with both kihyun and hyungwon and on outings it's just me watching them bicker and occasionally egging them on. like i just know in my heart they would be so fun to do little day trips with and obviously hyungwon could drink me under the table when we go get dinner

Short answer: My first SuJu MV that I watched around release was either Black Suit or Lo Siento!
Long answer: The issue for me when it comes to remembering first MVs and comebacks and what got me into a group is that I just let YouTube recommend me things and then I watched it all out of pure fascination whilst also letting Spotify (back when I used to use it) feed me music at work. So I didn't know what was new or old - I just consumed. I can tell you the exact moment I fell in love with EXO (because I originally dismissed their vocals omg this is my shame) and I can explain the feeling certain older songs give me because Spotify used to suck and just play the same few BigBang, BoA, and SuJu songs for me over and over and now those songs are interwoven into my memories, perfectly sliced out images and sounds that play on loop when I reminisce. But overall... that period of time was a mess of me absorbing any and all kpop I could get my grubby little hands on. Black Suit definitely pushed me along that path to stanning, especially after the negative Reddit / online posts about SuJu that originally deterred me. And still to this day it holds a very special place in my heart ♡ as does Bonamana because of Spotify!

Anyway my bias is Leeteuk but Ryeowook is in my ult top 10 biases, if that makes sense 😭
Hehehe, we love to see it tho!! It's awesome when you find a band that's been around for awhile because you have a lot more content to consume! I'm always on top of new debuts and releases these days so even if I got into one of them, there would be nothing to watch or read. Sometimes it's better to go back to older groups and just enjoy a steady, dedicated fandom that has stuck with them through high and low.

I'm responding sooo late but I was a bit distracted yesterday lol
It's interesting to hear what different people's processes are haha. I usually watch the mv first and then I listen to the album and usually after that i watch the mv again. and also I think it's easier for me to not watch teasers etc beforehand because of how multi-fandom I am. I can simply pretend that it isn't out yet 😆. Also, I really feel like enha is going to blow it away again. They have not disappointed even once. (I mean, it took a bit of time to get around to blessed-cursed but I still wasn't disappointed when I first heard it. Also I can't hate on dimension: answer when they have polaroid love on it. she's an icon.) but also, listening to manifesto intro made me hyped up for this comeback. (I got such a freight seeing it on my youtube home page when it was first released that I couldn't help but to listen to it, I won't be listening to anything else until album release tho and after the final concept film being released, I also won't be watching anything else either)
phew, it's a relief that it's not permanent, I still hope that it goes away quickly :') it's funny that I was so inspired to make things on Tuesday but then again yesterday I didn't know for which fandom i wanted to make gifs so I ended up just watching that high school musical series thing until I watched multiverse of madness before bed haha
I haven't even heard of that drama (no one is surprised, I'm pretty out of the loop with tv stuff and usually I'm super late to things anyway lol). I'm also bad with tv but my friends got me to watch some stuff last year and now it feels habitual to watch something before bed if I can - or when I need to pull an all nighter I watch riverdale because the things going on in that tv show is sooo weird that it keeps me awake 😂😂
yeah kdramas are really long every episode but I feel like if the kdrama is good enough, you don't even notice the time going by. Also hmmm, I tried to watch love & leashes but I ended up not sticking to it (I also thought it was a drama when I first clicked on it tho lol).
I don't think I've ever watched a web drama... I also haven't watched to my star... I'm not sure I'll be able to get into it because currently my brain is still on business proposal. It happened with crash landing on you as well... When it ended I thought I'd easily get into something else immediately but I just kept missing the characters of CLOY so I couldn't get into anything else 🥴🥴

@jseungz agreed, i love how everyone has their own process for preparing for and enjoying a comeback! i'll agree with you that enhypen has yet to disappoint me, i consistently really enjoy their music and find their concepts to be quite cool and fresh every time. blessed-cursed was actually one of my favorites, i'll say it over and over i LOVE the 90s/00s boy band styling they did for that era and the song itself always gets me hyped. definitely looking forward to hearing what the new track will sound like! i haven't watched or listened to anything, i've just seen the cb scheduler which is giving me the trendy pop punkish vibe so if that's where they're going with it i think i'll be pretty happy haha.
omg i love hsmtmts ... that is one show i do in fact watch haha my mom and my younger sibling and i all watch together when it's airing weekly. i can't remember the last time i pulled an all nighter on purpose 😭 and i used to watch riverdale when it was first out but i heard it got ... so strange haha and i haven't kept up in a very long time.
maybe one day i'll find a drama that i like enough to stick with! i know what you mean about needing some time between things though when you really become invested in the characters / story, i feel like that can happen reading books too. in lieu of watching much television i do watch a ton of kpop groups' like ... series things haha bc as you know multi life means there are plenty of those to keep up with. and when you already know the members and stuff it's easier to jump around and come back to them depending on what you're in the mood for. i've found esp since the pandemic started that i need my entertainment to feel really lighthearted so maybe that's also why dramas don't really call to me 😅 i haven't even watched the new season of stranger things bc those episodes are so long and i feel like it's too intense for what i'm looking for these days, even though i'm a huge fan of the series in general. luckily there's no time limit on finding stuff to watch and enjoy! <3

hey!! we haven't really interacted much, but I was hoping to get to know you more!! what kpop groups are you interested in? I'm not familiar with many of them and I was wondering if you could tell me a bit about them? (no pressure, you don't have to if you don't want to!!
yeah of course I can tell you some!! my top three groups are nct, seventeen and stray kids, but i stan a handful more than those (I can talk about the other ones more if you want, I just dont wanna overwhelm u with information lol)
stray kids - my ult, currently has 8 members but started with 9 (we dont really talk about the ex member bc he turned out to be a really shitty dude), debuted in 2018 but had a predebut survival show in 2017 that determined the members of the group. even though the survival show isnt necessary viewing to stan them, I still recommend it bc it's a big part of their history (although it's kinda hard to find now with eng subs, unfortunately :/)
stray kids were monster rookies when they debuted, and (in my opinion) consistently self produce bangers. I'd recommend songs like gods menu, question, awkward silence and heros soup to get an idea of what kind of music they put out (they do a lot of different genres so I just picked a few of my favorites that arent too similar in sound). if you wanna get to know personalities more, you should probably check out some of their variety show episodes (weekly idol and whatnot, I'd recommend watching vlives but ever since they updated the website idk how to work it lol)
nct - has an infinite concept meaning the group can basically have new members whenever the company decides they want to add more. the group has subunits: nct u (interchangeable members, basically anyone can be in it depending on the song), nct dream (was supposed to be just for minors, but after fans complained a bunch about mark lee leaving the group since he was 20 years old, they made it so that there wasnt a graduating system anymore. not really sure what the concept for the group is now lol), nct 127 (none of the members leave the group but members can be added whenever) and technically wayv is apart of nct but sm (their company) half the time acts like they arent (wayv is a chinese subunit). uhhh this group is really hard to explain considering it has like 23 members now? I believe? does lots of different genres, each subunit has different dynamics, but overall they're all very talented and charming! I can't spit out facts about nct like I do skz bc I've been stanning skz since predebut but I only started stanning nct in 2018 and it's hard for me to keep up with them bc of all the different units 😭 but ik they debuted in 2016 and each subunit has put out a lot of bangers. I'll suggest a few songs from each unit tho :> (and if u wanna get to know their personalities, I'd recommend you watch variety shows for each unit like I said with skz. it's the easiest way to get to know a group, in my opinion)
wayv: moonwalk, take off, dream launch
nct u: 90s love, yestoday, the 7th sense
nct dream: my first and last, love again, 119
nct 127: cherry bomb, simon says, 0 mile
seventeen - even tho they arent my ult, this group has talent that wows me more than any other group ever. literally not a single bad song, deadass the kings of choreography AND they're funnier than any other group I've ever stanned. would highly recommend seventeen as a group to start off with because even though they have a lot of members (13), theyre very memorable and they never fail to impress.
they debuted in 2015 ? I believe ? with, as I said, 13 members. each member falls into a subunit of either dance, vocal or hip hop, but these units dont serve a huge purpose as they make most of their music as a group and then each unit will usually have a song on the album. this group produces all of their music and has a huge part in basically everything they put out, making them a self produced idol group, which I think is poggers. i also just think this group is poggers bc they've made me enjoy ballads even tho i usually find them boring as fuck. if u wanna get to know them, try watching their episode on men on a mission (it is on netflix) I genuinely think it's like the funniest variety show episode I've ever seen a group do.

ok i made a different post about this but i just deleted it cuz i worded it poorly. but. does anybody else get the vibe that twitter's "stan culture" (this is the best word i can think to describe it, sorry) is like... almost cult-like in nature?
I don't mean to throw the word around lightly, i know it is rather disrespectful to cult survivors to joke about cults, or even to make the accusation lightly... i don't think it is a de facto cult at all, more like a... proto-cult? or something? idk. There's not really a single Leader that is knowingly leading these ppl and profiting off of them, but the behavior of "stans" honestly feels cultish to me. and i really truly worry for young people who get wrapped up in this toxic culture.
as everyone following me the past couple days has seen from all these nasty anons- if you do anything to slight the person/people they "stan", they will literally do anything & everything to justify their twisted amoral behavior towards you... in my case i am white so they say i am being racist & a "white savior" by me calling taylor swift a "racist rich white bitch".
countless ppl dogpiled me, called me transphobic slurs, suicide baited me, tried to be fatphobic to me for some reason (i am literally underweight), etc etc etc...
none of them seem to care or even acknowledge the horrible behavior of their peers, i saw like one person replying to another one of them on twitter like "don't be homophobic to her!" and everyone else was just like "lol who cares"
the ends justify the means.
it is my observation that most of the behavior exhibited by stan twitter users seems to coalesce on this... idea of "activism"... perhaps because black twitter users pointed out how "stanning" is aave, and "stan twitter" stole the term for their own use, to the point where basically no one knows its origins as aave anymore. so they reacted in kind by like. trying to signal boost posts about black lives matter, black fans that needed help, etc... i am white so i won't say more than that, make your own conclusions there
but it's just become this sort of. twisted mangled idea of "activism". to the point where the social consciousness of ppl on stan twitter almost seems like a completely superficial facade put up because they know that it will give them some level of sympathy from others... or... something?? i dunno the exact reasoning, but. it is the way it is.
To give an example of what I'm trying to express- you've surely seen people from stan twitter say "STREAM [NEW SONG]!!!" (particularly kpop, but now that has expanded to like, literally any pop celebrity you could think of)
They get to the point where they like... literally will play the song over and over and over again on loop, to the point where i wonder how they don't get fucking sick of it. they just do this shit with every song by the artist(s) they stan, to try to get them to Trend Harder, or to get on the Charts. or to get more Views. there is this obsession with becoming validated to the masses, that they need to prove how Good the artist they stan is, and how everyone else, especially all the haters and "antis", are Flops.
What I'm saying is: they literally view their behavior as some twisted form of "activism", whether they want to admit it or not. They also view it as activism to make their little twitter threads about every possible controversy to do with the person they stan, and why all of them are false allegations or over-exaggerated, or, sometimes, that it's actually just fine and you should just let people enjoy things ok? <3
Seriously: this isn't just taylor swift, this isn't just kpop... there are threads on twitter about why the dream smp members are all flawless uwu innocent boys who can do no wrong and have nothing but goodness in their hearts. i had to see a thread the other day where someone genuinely called taylor swift an "unproblematic queen". this is real shit! people really believe this stuff. it's all very disturbing for many reasons.
Most disturbing of all, though, is how they treat "haters"... if you vocally insult one of the people that has a fanbase like this, like i did on twitter, they may find your innocuous post you made for your meager ~400 twitter followers and tell EVERYONE THEY KNOW to ratio you, report your tweets, etc. like literally i was just minding my business when i saw i had 30+ retweets on that post that just said "taylor swift is overrated", all of them were qrts already being rude as fuck to me
and if you bite on their bait for even a second, they'll take any opportunity they have to rip you to shreds. they found a "vulnerability" (not really) in my "defense" in that i am white, so they used that as a weapon against me in their bid to make Me the person who is Actually problematic, not their flawless queen taylor swift (even though... she is... also a white woman.) And I say that they "used it as a weapon", bc it's the same thing that every anon hate message i've gotten since going on priv has said. Oftentimes, right alongside other violently hateful shit (transphobia, fatphobia, ableism... all in the same message telling me that i'm being racist by calling taylor swift racist)
Stan culture is teaching young adults & kids that it's ok to bully people "for the right reasons". it's teaching them that your interests are paramount, and that it is doing activism to Consume Content. you can see this in the myriad social media posts, where ppl will bemoan others for talking about pirating games/movies, because "we need this one to sell well!!!!!", or even just talking about watching a movie multiple times because "IF WE DON'T WATCH IT ENOUGH TIMES THEY MIGHT CANCEL THE SERIES" ...
Anyhow, not to sound like an Old Person, but i hate the future!!! Kids, teens, please do better for yourself & your peers. "Stan culture" as it is is very new, and it's Not normal. Don't let it become normalized.

I don’t think that there’s one song that does that to me, but I definitely have waves of obsession haha I’ll listen to a new song, I’ll love it, I’ll learn the lyrics and then I’ll keep listening and singing along to it non stop for a month or more haha Not necessarily on loop, but whenever I stop to listen to music I’ll start with that one.... the latest obsessions that I can remember were Insecure by Bren Joy, then Here’s Your Perfect by Jamie Miller and now is the Ben Platt one haha (tho I can feel myself starting to get on this cycle with Written in the Stars by John Legend and WENDY)

Monsta x our beans, welp we can officially say we are army wives for them because shownu is now at the military and just welp this feels weird lol. I lowkey forgot he was meant to enlist so when the news came out I went through so many emotions. Its why the latest comeback feels a bit bittersweet to me. It is their BEST for sure and for this year, I agree so to not see him perform right before he left is a bit sad. I don't blame him of course (if anyone does i am fish slapping you) but just a shame. I'm happy we do get content with him still? Seems pre-planned so that is nice!
Onto legends exo, fantastic comeback. I cannot stop listening to the album, its just bops full of bops to me. They broke so many records and I'm over here sipping my tea because fudge yes. It isn't a full member comeback, 2 of the members featured in the comeback are off playing call of duty and they still did THAT. While having lay properly in the comeback!? (Or at least some form, better than tempo era!) Kyungsoo my beloved, the man that can swoon you off your feet, his proper solo album. Omg I am just in love? The album feels like a Playlist that you hear while taking a walk or on a raodtrip? I love it, I just love everything about this with how much thought was given. It makes me feel warm and I'm so proud of him (I think he even got a first win) but sadly xiumin got the it shall not be named virus D: I feel so bad and I can only hope he gets better! It makes me worried because I keep seeing more and more idols getting sick and I can't help but wonder why don't the kpop entertainment just put a pause with stuff? Onto svt! That is perfectly fine to not vibe with a comeback! I will admit, I didn't fully vibe with this comeback and it shocked me because every comeback was a hit to me. Even fear, left and right or homerun where I know many fans were split on, I liked but RTL was a grower. For me, listening to it without watching the mv, helped it alot and it is a song I like. Is it their best? No I don't think so but it is alright to say "hey I didn't bop to this, not my cup of tea" (imo I blame the mv? The mv REALLY didn't do the song justice at all, I am sorry if I sound like a fake fan but this mv Just is bad in all aspects. Sure we have some pretty shots but like it just doesn't fit at all?) So if anything listening to the song or wishing the live performances does it better. Seeing the choreography amps the song up more, cannot go wrong with their dancing. As for the rest of the songs, I admit game boy is my top favorite? Idk if it is because I am a gaming nerd and found all the production of the song so creative but yeah. We can wait for the next comeback! Svt always have something up their sleeves, plus we do have their music projects to look forward too (I wonder when we will get one? Seeing as RTL promotions stopped) some positive news with the boys is they resigned like a year before their contract ends and I'm a bit emotional :') I'm excited to see the boys future projects. We did have caratland recently! Did you watch it if I may ask? We did get in the soop confirmation so I'm excited to watch that, the boys deserve that nice break (even if it was filmed for a show fjsbsns)

our shownu is at war *looks into the distance* *wipes away tear* *sighs* by now I got used to enlistment news (see what happens when you stan 2nd and 3rd gen groups) but STILL [[IT HURT]] when they uploaded the monchannel videos of his goodbye day like ????? what kind of twisted mind diuhdfuihdifuhs but the boys were all so cute and soft but they seemed so sad they didn't want to let go of their super leader :(( I hope he's learning lots and making new friends (and also we've got our international super spy yoo kihyun giving us small updates on him every now and then so everything's fine!). Yeah I totally get you it felt empty without him this comeback and at first it didn't really clicked with me but when the enlistment news came out i understood he had to take care of his health and thoroughly check on his eye sight in order to be 100% ready for the military so it made sense he had to be absent :( everything was so close (the comeback and enlistment) that I'm sure there was no other way for doing it I'm pretty sure he couldn't maybe postpone the enlistment day any further
onto exo! my ksoo my soft boi my romantic boi 🥺 his album is so him SO HIM i can't explain it bur it's just HIM you know it's the type of album you'd play on loop on a summer afternoon when you've taken your papers and paints outside in the garden to paint a bit with the warm soft breeze moving the trees lightly 🤧 and he signs in English and SPANISH (he did it for me) my multilingual king he's a native. Also I've been watching Honeymoon Tavern with Jongin these days and OMG i could d word for him really (if you haven's watched it go do it when you have time) he's SO SOFT and SO CUTE and he works as a waiter and a wedding planner and helps with the room preparations and is also a tour guide and he's just so cute so happy al the time the way he interacts with everyone is so 🥺🤧😭 onto more serious stuff now: yeah i was so worried about minseok catching covid omg but i'm glad he went through it with our any major complication and the rest of the boys are safe too! I guess the industry doesn't stop bc that would mean a huge loss of thousands and thousands of dollars/won/etc so as long as the gov doesn't prohibit going out or gathering like at the beginning of the pandemic, they'll keep on going with the idols' schedules otherwise the industry would just shut down having no way of earning money to sustain all the companies and idols.
as for seventeen! yeah i like the songs too! the mv sure ruined rtl and listening to it without watching it has really helped it grow on me more but still it feels kind of meh to me idk i really like anyone i think it's my favourite from the album. I think the lesson we all learned here today is that I probably shouldn't look down on kpop too much. But then, I have listened to a lot of vocaloid and read along with the lyrics which get pretty intense sometimes. I would give examples but Prof. Nic has gone through many a phase and I cannot remember all of them. (And some i dont want to remember)
So, lets get on with the... songs? Pieces? Lyrics? Shall we?
1. Opera: Verdi - La Travita, Aria: Sempre Libera (Always Free), Character: Violetta. Lol i seriously thought that this was a pop song I havent heard of. But when i realized how this game was gonna go, aka when they revealed that it was opera and a translation thing, i stepped up my guessing game. But like SERIOUSLY THOOOOO. Who could've known? (Probably the singer or a person who actually understands the language) But damn son. Quiz-sama ain't playin aROUND.
2. Pop: Arianna Grande - Imagine. When i read the lyrics, i knew iMMEDIATELY. Why wouldn't I when I live with a sister who blared this fucking sing day in and out. (No offense sis, no offense Arianna) But like, when i saw that Twoset thought this was an opera? Oh bOI. Thank goodness I'm great at controlling my reactions. Because fam, I would've laughed my ass off in disbelief like what the fuck. I'd understand Brett's ignorance but Eddy too? Damn. (Brett's lofi intensifies)
3. Pop: Billie Eilish - . I honestly thought that this was like- okay, my thought process had phases. First sentence I thought "okay this sounds like that one Arianna Grande song." When I got to the "set fire" part, I thought "adele?" And then when i read "burn", i thought "is this that really old song? The "and im gonna let it burn burn burn" thing?" As you can see, all my song guesses were wrong. At least I got the genre. And like me, the bois were learning. (Cue that bear grylls meme)

Granted, I havent listened to a lot and to be frank the only opera I've listened to all the way is the Magic Flute but like- its good stuff. Only thing I want is to be able to appreciate it better. 5. Opera: Donizetti - Lucia di Lammermoor, Aria: Il Dolce Suono (The Sweet Sound), Character: Lucia. I'll admit that Eddy's singing threw me off a lil but I guessed opera. With... not a lot of conviction. Sounded like something Lana del Rey would write okay.
6. Opera: Mozart - Don Giovanni, Aria: Madamina, il catalogo e questo (Dear lady, this is the list), Character: Leporello. I thought that this was either some really obscure rap, or weird opera. I couldn't decide so I just let it play out. When I saw it was opera, I was confused. Then, I wasn't because I saw that Mozart wrote it. I swear, Mozart would make a killing as a rapper or some kind of foulmouthed idol if he was born in modern times. Also, small Edwina and Brettany cameo!!!!!
7. Opera: Bizet - Carmen, Aria: Tout Doux, Moniseur (Softly, Sir), Character: Carmen. Honestly, by this point of the video (when I watched it for the first time) I was just straight guessing opera. Although, if the lyrics were rephrased, this line could fit in perfectly somewhere in a pop song. And also, I did not expect the dRAMATICNESS of the singing when they played that excerpt. Like, wOW OKAY. I mean it makes sense for Carmen as a character... and the language they used it in... and the style of opera... okay I really can't say anything about the extraness can I?
8. Pop: Billie Eilish - No time to die. I knew it was pop. (Rhyme scheme and lyric pattern and subject matter too predictable babey) But the fact that it was by Billie Eilish was what confused me. Idky, but them lyrics givin me Taylor Swift vibes. Or Lana del Rey vibes if you slow it down and make it "dreamy".
9. KPOP: Blackpink - Kill this love. This one was sUUUUUPER ambiguous to me. It was very eloquent and poetic in a sense. But then it also gave out pop vibes. I couldn't answer though I leaned more towards opera. But when i saw that it was Blackpink's Kill this love? My brain melted out my ears. I mEAN ITS IN KOREAN ITS A TRANSLATION THING. That still doesn't excuse the fact that im very- aSDFGHJKL about it.
10. Opera: Dvorak - Rusalka, Aria: Mesicku na nebi hublokem (Song to the moon), Character: Rusalka. This one was very obviously opera to me. But dem kpop lyrics threw me for a loop man! I went opera but yall, I was dOUBTING.
11. Pop: Charlie Puth - Attention. Was there really any need to guess this one? Although, if you've never been exposed to pop music and are hearing them for the first time then thats okay. We're all learning.
12. Opera: Mozart - Cosi Fan Tutte (All Women Do It), Aria: In Uomini in Soldati (In men, in soldiers), Character - Despina. I sincerely thought that this was a really obscure rap. And I wasn't surprised when it said that Mozart wrote this opera. (His creepy smiling face tho...)
13. Pop: Justin Bieber - Sorry. Like I said in number 11, was there really any need to guess. And Brett's (albeit braindead) singing of Super Junior's Sorry Sorry is- aUGHCK MY STAN HEART. I WAS ALREADY SLAUGHTERED BY HIM WEARING THE VIOLIN BUTTON UP AND HIS ADORABLENESS AND HIS DADDYNESS OTHER NON ADORABLE QUALITIES. Ughhhhh. Jesus christ i really have to simp for Brett in each of these posts huh?
14. Pop: Taylor Swift - Delicate. I thought that this was fOR SURE an Arianna Grande song. Because of that one song with the sleep thing. But ugh, Eddy's assumption of the song was just too good not to be mentioned. (And also because i need to fill these paragraphs but like- dat voice dow) And oh gOD SEEING THEM LAUGH TOGETHER AND VIBE LIKE THAT? IM- wow look I just died of blood loss.
15. KPOP: BTS - On. Brett picking opera and falling off his chair is me. Quiz-sama. Mercy. Mercy pLEASE. Dude, translated kpop is intense.

What kpop groups do you like? I have to admit that I don't really know that much about TVXQ. My own favourites are Dreamcatcher, A.C.E, Loona and Ateez, plus some other ones. I only like newer groups so I find it interesting that you have stanned some for that long already

Okay so bear with me. I went through the Kpop Phase from 2010 to 2013. I have not kept up with new bands since then, so I apologize that I don't have any knowledge there.
My bands were thus:
TVXQ/DBSK/Tohoshinki: literally the same band, just different abbreviations based on the language being used. They started as a group of 5 until 2009/2010 when there was a big Split due to company issues. I feel like I used to know the details but it's been so long. Anyway, I was introduced to them as 5 but was coming into the scene of kpop when they'd already split up into a group of 3 (who made JYJ) and 2 who remained TVXQ (my forever favorites). I highly recommend their work whether as 5 or as 2. Yunho is my Bias but Changmin, who is the other member, always caused me a ton of trouble 🤣🤣
For them as a duo, I recommend the Keep Your Head down album, as it was their first album as a duo.
JYJ's songs Empty and Get Out were my favorites of theirs.
The most popular song they ever did was as 5, and it's called Mirotic. But literally any song they do is golden so feel free to leap down that rabbit hole all day long. The first song I ever heard is called Purple Line and it HOOKED ME SO HARD.
Big Bang: I realize now that over the years there has been controversy around many bands or members for various reasons, and I can't even tell you if BB is active at all anymore outside of solo work, but I loved their style. Very hip-hop, a bit edgier than some other groups at the time. I thinkkkk only one member turned out to be scummy, but again fell out of kpop so I don't know if that has changed among any of these groups lol. My favorite song is Fantastic Baby. One member, T.O.P, did a solo years ago called Turn it Up which is still a banger. And the member Daesung has the voice of an actual angel. I recommend his song Baby Don't Cry.
SHINee: this one hurts a lot. A few years ago one of their members passed away tragically, and his voice was one of my favorites in kpop. This was after I fell away from kpop, so I don't know what the group has released since, but my favorite song of theirs is called Lucifer, but all their music from that time is wonderful. They were also on a variety show called Hello, Baby, and it was so cute.
Super Junior: I wasn't as invested in this group as the other 3, but enjoyed their work. My favorite song is Bonamana. This group at the time was MASSIVE. I think there were 13 members at one point. Learning their names was a blast.
2ne1: A girl group that split up (agreeably as far as I know) a few years ago. They were under the same label as Big Bang and had a similar hip hop/edgier sound compared to other girl groups. My favorite song is I Am the Best. The lead, CL, has a solo career now, I think.

Again, I have not kept up with kpop. If I listen now, it's to my old standbys. I'm getting excited for this solo album of Yunho's! Kpop was so fun for me. A true hyperfixation that lasted several years. I even started learning dances from various music videos 🤣
I can tell how out of the loop I am because when I search Yunho in the tags a different Yunho from another band comes up more frequently and I'm equal parts offended and thinking to myself OH GOD I'M OLD NOW 🤣🤣🤣
This was fun to answer, anon! I felt like a classic 90s baby but with 2010 kpop. I hope you check out TVXQ, though. They're the Gods of kpop in my humble opinion. 85% at least of my kpop albums are their albums.

i love namyu, i think about them a lot. like a lot lot.
i sometimes spend my time crying over namyu while watching their stage mixes hbu.

i cried when i saw them as 5. i cried when i saw ot5 miniskirt, i cried when i saw their egotistic cover, and i cried when i saw sorry. (i’m a very emotional person lol.) but i mostly cried bc they’re a 2nd gen group who’s fighting to stay in the industry, you know? even apink eunji cried while watching them heh
and i watched queendom as it aired, it was very overwhelming, especially sorry. like. nobody tf knew it was gonna be a yeehaw, nobody knew chanmi was going to do the thing. sorry, man, sorry.
they immediately had come see me after queendom ended and i personally think they did great with their performances and variety show appearances despite the song not getting a music show win and despite the promotion period getting cut short.
apink - eung eung
When apink said they were so sick of their fairy idol status, they meant it and followed thru with their current concept/vibe with eung eung (not exactly girl crush and not exactly fairy/cute, it’s in a perfect blend in between that apink was able to achieve). if aoa hadn’t made a comeback and i wasn’t a namyu stan, eung eung would have been top of my list tbh.
Idk if it's the concept change or if times have changed and their previous fans have moved on to newer groups, but their physical albums sales (wc is considered a measure of fandom power) took a deep dive, if i’m not mistaken.
despite their fandom losing steam over the past few years, they’re still a great girl group and one of the few remaining 2nd gen ggs active rn (together with aoa, brown eyed girls, and sunny hill from the top of my head). mad respect.
exid - me & you
Their last korean comeback before they officially went on hiatus. i like exid enough, i know a lot of exid things and watch a lot of their variety shows but i wouldn’t call myself a stan and i actually don’t keep track of their schedules (unlike how i am with namyu and clc, now aoa recently), so i was just happily watching their mv and comeback stages not knowing it was their last ....lol
i only found out when i saw news of hani getting signed to another agency.....
ANYWAY. They said they're not disbanded, but who knows when their nxt kr comeback is gonna be tbh. all five of them have their own thing going on tho, mostly youtubers i think, but whatever pays the bills.
baek yerin - square (2017)
her unreleased track from way back 2017 only got released earlier this month and yes, I still haven’t been able to stop playing this song. sometimes on loop, like how aoa jimin is with into the unknown.
also, "I'm so so broke like someone just robbed me" speaks to me on a spiritual level because i'm both broke emotionally and financially.
clc - no, me, devil
clc had a great year tbh: finally managed to get 5k+ hanteo sales with no.1, got their first win, and released music at a relatively good pace within the year. All members have also had schedules or something except seunghee (???? I hope she's been busy).
Sorn kinda fcked up towards the end tho, but i'm hoping she learns and makes up for it. ONE THING tho. i know stans would do anything to protect their faves, but it was very disappointing seeing cheshires ~defend sorn by making shit up re: the timestamps of her posts. ppl be asking what happened and yall be like, “NOTHING she posted that one pic before the other and stan twitter just overreacting” please don’t do this. please don’t distort facts like timestamps of posts and all that. let her speak for herself and own up to it herself.

So I think I found myself another match made in heaven! tbh I think all these ships are matches in heaven, but I know I use this term a lot, but you and Jae would be a wild and mild type of couple. You two are super aesthetic as well, but don’t worry, there is sweetness all around. You two have so many animals and plants btw, like, you got Jae’s cats and you’d adopt more animals together- it’s a zoo- but a great zoo. And I feel like you two would have some of your best memories at your shared apartment. Don’t get me wrong, you two would go out a lot, but you’re so much more comfortable at home, which there’s nothing wrong with that!. You two can be your true selves at home, and you can be goofy one hour, then logical the next hour- talk about dynamic. Jae would LOVE to sing to you, it’s so sweet. Okay here we go, the money maker, my first KNK ship, I’m so excited! Jihun is the sweet babe who brings you out of your shell. Jihun also gives you the world and more. Jihun’s world isn’t happy unless you’re happy. When it comes to going out, you and Jihun would go out more compared to Jaebum. You two have so much fun though! Jihun is really good at encouraging your to come out of your shell and be free. If you want to go on adventures, they’re on your call, or if you want to go to a specific restaurant or want date night a certain way, it’s on you. You two joke so much too! Whether it’s jokes or teasing each other, you two always joke around- keeps life lively. Something that I think would be cute, would be that you would be his little psychologist. This would actually be great for school btw. If Jihunie ever needs advice or needs some sort of help or assistance, you get to be there for him. Jihun is always coming to you, more like you two talk about it before you go to sleep lol. Then if you were to need some kind of experience or reference for a project or class discussion, you get to use Jihun as that reference! And sometimes, you could even help Jihun’s fellow members if they ever need the pick me up! More experience! And omg, this boy is an actual goof. Since you’re into astrology, Jihun would always want to come to you so you could tell him what to expect in the coming months. The goof part that comes in, is the surprise that you get when home. So, one night when you get home, there are blankets in the shape of a fort and he’d got a basketball set up in the middle to look like a ‘crystal ball’. Since you two are goofs, you easily follow along, and you have a makeshift astrology telling. Jihun also enjoys looking up to those little posts where it’s like ‘your sign would do this and this’ and he would send them to you. Moving right along, date night is an accommodation for being busy bodies. Jihun goes extra sweet and soft with date night, and date night is almost always at home(you time). Omg listen here. Karaoke night is a favorite, but you two are slow dancing to some songs by the end of the night! Ahh!!! Jihun also never misses the opportunity to tell you how much he loves you. When I think of you and Ten, I think of a variety couple. I know that sounds weird, but hear me out. When it comes to this ship, I feel like you two would be an opposite attract sort of couple. No one would’ve seen you two coming, but Shinwon would snatch you up happily. You two would take your time with your relationship, you wouldn’t want to jump too fast, and you’d want to completely trust Shinwon if you were going to give him your heart. The kitten would start licking Shinwon’s ear, and omg he’d have the best reaction! Your co-workers would be laughing so hard, they’d have to leave the room- it was so worth it! I also feel like you two would stay in more. Of course, I think you two would go out, but you’d like to stay home more bc it would be more comfortable for you. You would also get to show more of your hyper side to Shinwon when you’d be home alone. Autumn and winter days are the best because you love to snuggle up to him with a book. i do know both billlie and enhypen. in fact, i recently listened to billlie's entire discography because all my mutuals complimented them. my fave songs from them are moon palace, overlap and gingamingayo. i can't wait to see what the future holds for them. kinda glad that hater put some light on tsuki (and consequently billlie). i've seen more and more people get interested in them thanks to that whole 'scandal' (idk what to call it). as for enhypen, i'm more of a casual listener. i really like drunk dazed and upper side dreamin'. both great songs!
idk if i like kpop or krnb more 🤔 i like both genres equally. but, i'm going to be honest, i've kind of out of the loop with kpop :( it's been approximately a decade since i got into kpop and i can see the differences between when i first was introduced to it, compared to now. i'm not as interested in the new groups as i was when i was younger. i still listen to a few groups but not as many as before. i'm more of a kindie/krnb listener nowadays.
btw, i really like your new mobile and desktop themes 😍 the colours are pretty! 💗 that being said, i can see you being excited for rv's cb since seulgi is your icon. i can't wait to listen to their new songs 💓 hope they won't disappoint. 🤞

PLEASE even he isn’t over the fact we’re called t-panties! it came from a q&a video with him and slom and a lot of the questions were asking what colour their underwear was lmao and then at the end of the video they asked their own questions to the subscribers including what they wanted to be called and to leave suggestions in the comments! then when he made his video unboxing his youtube play button he gave us three options from that video which included pinecones, t-panties and panties and of course the majority voted for t-panties ajksdhaskjdha but i think it’s meant to be a play on the word ‘fan’ since they sound kinda similar in korean so i guess it’s cute… i still think pinecones would have been cuter :/ i just think it’s funny that he seems to hate that it got the most votes but also he picked 2 of the 3 options to involve the word panties so i think it’s his own fault actually ajkshdakd
ahhh i’m so happy you like billlie and enhypen even if it is just casually! i think they’re some of the best new groups and their songs are so fun and fresh!! TASTE! moon palace and overlap are really pretty! and drunk-dazed is definitely a favourite enhypen song for me too! yeah i’m glad her fancam went viral since she totally deserves the recognition and it got them some new fans! minus the totally evil people who just wanted to be mean for no reason because she doesn’t deserve that :( but yeah i really hope they keep growing because i think they deserve to be really popular!
and yeah i totally understand that!! i was the same i had lost interest since most of the groups i really loved had disbanded or were inactive for so long and i wasn’t really interested in the new releases but it’s kinda reversed now since my favourite krnb artists (zion.t and elo) have been inactive for so long and i’m literally rotting waiting for either of them to release a new album (new elo album maybe coming out in april though so thats exciting!!) jasdjakhd but i started watching kpop videos with my friend (vianey if ur reading this hi) and together we discovered billlie and enhypen and a bunch of other fun songs we love!! i guess it’s just a lot more fun when you have other people you can share the experience with so if you ever wanna rant about a new song or artist you love or literally anything you can always share it with me i would love to hear about it!! it doesn’t even have to be k-music related i’d love to hear about any other interests you have too!💓💕
