#song of the day#another song off that same excellent concept playlist by losersimonriley#there's so many more Scottish bands added to my circulation now it's wonderful#this is a song specifically about Glasgow being his hometown so he uses more of his accent for it which I love#I've been pestering my brothers with accent and slang fun facts for a while now#more or less since the first time somebody had Soap use a particular Scottish saying in their CoD fic and made me go over all !!!!#'innsidh na geòidh as t'fhoghar e' translates to 'the geese will tell it in autumn' and reading that nearly made me explode#because when I was a small child and I asked my uncle too many 'why' questions he told me not to worry about it#that the geese would tell me next fall#amazing to me to find out decades later through Call of Duty fanfiction that that's an actual phrase#preserved for who knows how many generations between the first Scottish folks who must've brought it to Appalachia#and then eventually my Uncle Tommy who decided to use it to turn the aggravation tables around on a child#I'm thinking about that again now not just because it still blows my mind a little bit#(really truly had so firmly accepted it as just my Uncle Tommy trolling me with nonsense. it's such a thing he'd do)#but also because of a specific bit from the end of the song 'it's thirteen degrees and there's folk in the street in the scud'#that's just under 60F (a blissfully warm sunny day in Glasgow it seems) and 'in the scud' means 'naked'#which is also a thing I've almost heard from my family!#my aunts up the mountain and therefore also my father at times would say 'in the scuff' (my aunts with a little tilt to the vowel sound)#there was a sort of connotation of it being a silly or immature or maybe drunken sort of naked. an unimpressive naked at least#like 'Tommy fell into the muddy end of the pond trying to catch that damnfool heron' (this is a true story btw. take that Uncle Tommy)#'when he got back his wife made him take off all his clothin in the yard and hose down first. had to walk into his house in th scuff'#and then all the old ladies cackle about Tommy walkin through his door 'both heads hangin low' and my dad winces a little bit#it's important I share all these memories with my siblings now. most of the family's dead and gone and the boys don't remember#very fun for me to tell the stories now and see Nick do the exact same wince at the slightly mean-spirited dick commentary#just a little family legacy in action. thank you Gerry Cinnamon#(in the spirit of song-of-the-day though I will share my favorite line without the contextual boost of silly ereborne family stories:#'I know a guy who's a lightweight one or two jars and he's buckled#he's the guy that loses keys has to break into his ain house and gets huckled'#ungodly fun to sing and I do know several of this guy. not related to them though. my whole family drinks like fish)

I love korean Alice SO MUCH!!! As an asian person myself, I always hadcanon Alice as asian because she had always been my favorite (and because if Meyer isn't going to do this then I WILL DO THIS MYSELF) so this fic seems like my dreams coming true. But my real question is: does Jasper knows is he is going to lose his memories? Does Alice tells him he isn't going to remember her?

I must admit, I always thought that the Cullen family composition was so boring. Carlisle is born in England in 1663 and travels extensively over the centuries... and somehow ends up with an all-white family, presumably Christian, the majority born within a 40 year timeline, heavily favouring the South of America?
That's just lacking imagination. Or being super Mormon, take your pick.
And I support retconning canon facts at all times. There is nothing the Twilight fandom can't improve with some DIY. And I'm really excited that you like Korean Alice, because I have a few other fics I've started that feature an Asian Alice, but I wasn't sure if too many people were invested in that.
As for your question: no, Jasper has no idea his memory is wiped. He visits Busan every few years, meets Alice for 'the first time', and has his mind wiped at the end of every single visit. That was the agreement Alice made with her coven leader, Ratana (who is kind of a dick, but also trying to protect everyone the best way she knows how) but Jasper has never been informed of this deal.
Alice never tells him because she's ashamed that she's bartered with his memories without consent, and because she never wants them to focus on how long they've got left before they have to return. She's also terrified of leaving her coven because of the dangers towards her out there, and she doesn't want to burden Jasper and his coven with her protection and survival.
Hala can sort of return memories, but the older they are, the more degraded they are. Only very recent memories can be restored perfectly - older ones decay; they are missing parts, missing conversation, and have all the emotion stripped away from them. And because Jasper's an empath, the emotions attached to his memories are very, very important to him. Arguably more important than anything else.
It's a bit of a problem.

Ok so like Im not a REAL dc blogger so I don’t really have my own reading list; I basically focus heavily on black characters across the board and then dive into wherever they’re from but I usually use other reading lists to do it and go at my own (slow ass) pace. For DC i started fandom only and then moved on to actually reading comics which is why my opinions are so strong there bc I KNOW WHAT YALL ARE LIKE!
Sorry but now for Duke specifically I KNOW there’s a specifc blogger who’s list I followed down to the T but I cannot remember their url rn so here’s a list/chart that has like. Listings for him specifically
That’s mostly to follow timeline but for me I think to get his character down u could do all star Batman, Batman and the signal, the outsiders, WAR and then branch out from there (but also saying this as someone who’s read most of it so like maybe I’m biased and missing or forgetting smth). I’m sorry if this isn’t helpful but as SOON as I find that reading list I’m posting it bc I swear I literally went down that list one by one.

so my family usually visits my aunt’s for thanksgiving. but we also like having our own thanksgiving dinner. so usually we buy an extra turkey and the weekend following thanksgiving we have a second thanksgiving dinner.
that’s what we’re doing today. so i’m over here sipping on eggnog (that i made), chopping onions for the stuffing, listening to christmas music, etc. the whole family is participating.
life is just so good, man.

My silly little comforting habit that I cherish so so dearly is when I have a moment I feel really alive or if I feel especially like an outsider watching beautiful memories unfold I’ll set up my phone and record the moment. Like set it up, forget about it for at least three minutes. I have a couple videos of the birds eating birdseed from this week now and I accidentally caught my mother and I having a conversation for thirteen minutes on video but that’s something I can treasure later. Like now I have a video of us just talking and laughing but the video itself is of birds and squirrels and there’s bird songs in the background and the lighting is changing bc the sun was still coming up but yeah that was just really nice and I love going back to those videos and just reliving that moment when I felt connected to myself and the world around me
#I know I got depressed and deleted it but at once point like five years ago I had a video of one of my baby cousins birthday parties and you#can hear the fire crackling outside at my grandparents house and it’s my mom and my aunts and uncles all laughing and playing with the baby#and I was sitting in the car with the girl I would go on to ask out later that night who would go on to destroy a lot of my relationships#and generally scar me for life but like idk something about sitting just on the outside of a family moment is so… idk.#I really enjoy it is all. I’ve always been the person to get the picture or video when no one’s paying attention and those pics/vids are#what I cherish the most about friendships and relationships when they’re gone#I still have a… well I don’t know if I have it now actually I might have deleted it. :/ well I had a video from my trip up to Maine#where a bunch of my mutuals and I met up in person and were being stupid and smoking and laughing and it was so much fun even tho it didn’t#work out and we don’t talk anymore a part of me just loves watching those videos#gahhh I have such big feelings in such a small organ#my head is so full of love it’s astounding

lesbian laurie strode is an especially important headcanon even tho in the context of halloween 2018 (knowing she was not the best mother she could have been to karen and has two failed marriages behind her) is a bit of a bittersweet one. but i like to think that somewhere along the way in the reboot trilogy she comes to better understand that part of herself
#primarily working under the thinking that even tho she loves her family#the 'solution' for her trauma in '78 was everyone telling her to just 'try and live a normal life' i.e. get married and start a family#and on top of still being horrifically scarred from the original halloween that's just NOT who she was#and even though she tried really hard to be who she was told she could be it just kept not working#and the shame of 'failing' in that sense makes her feel like shit about her memories of '78 (textually) and her sexuality (subtextually)#and look i dont DISLIKE frank as a character (i think he's actually quite a nice guy) but we're ignoring his role in kills + ends here#especially since i dislike the small trend of pairing finals girls w cops AND i hate that they retconned the ending of '78 in kills#to put more focus on a cop and (inadvertently) exclude laurie from the ending of her own initial story#anyway. kind of just needed to talk that one out for my own purposes

Being me is so annoying sometimes like I accidentally make a mistake related to my relationship (literally nothing bad at all, it’s an easy logistics related thing to fix) and yet because I care so much about my partner my brain sets off all the alarms because it’s so important to me not to mess this up.
#which. it’s annoying that I can’t just go easy on myself and trust them not to leave me for something really small#because I know they’re serious about this and me having to reschedule something slightly is literally not a big deal#it’s about me seeing their family over winter break#(side note; that’s freaking terrifying lol)#and I said that I wouldn’t need to be home on christmas day with my family when they asked me but my mum does want me back even though I#told my partner she wouldn’t. which is easy to fix because they’re seeing their dad on christmas anyway so I’d just leave half a day early#and they even asked me if I would need to do it’s not like they’d be surprised#okay writing that out makes me feel so much better because I realise this is an extremely small ‘mistake’ to have made like they will not#care enough to leave me because they love me very much actually!#they were talking about how they want to transfer to my uni to do an extra year while I’m doing my last year so we can see each other :)#which like. yes I’ve been planning our lives together in my head for a while now but it’s a lovely feeling to know for sure that they’re#thinking about it too#okay I need to sleep but I can put this matter to rest now lol#it’s horrible how much I was genuinely panicking over it just because I care so much#anne speaks
