hi kei! idk if you remember me but i'm your handholding anon from months ago <3
what lip balm flavor do you think seungmin uses? 🥺 imagine him putting on lip balm before snuggling next to you in bed, the sweet scent making you stare way too long at his pretty pouty lips. he knows you're resisting the urge to kiss him right then and there, but he teases you anyway by pressing his forehead against yours. "jagi, you're so cute but it's just lip balm," he laughs.
— it’s just lip balm, ksm.

weekend.
seungmin’s favorite part of the week finally arrived. it’s always the best part of his life when he could lay and take his day off, be lazy and eat his comfort food. read and watch dramas like he always does. he just got home that friday night and went to take a shower where he finds you on your shared bed, reading the book he gave you from your birthday last year. all set with pajamas and night lights. the sound of the bathroom’s sliding door opened, followed by his footsteps, then the door closed again. seungmin ruffled his hair to dry with a small towel to prevent water droplets from soaking his favorite mahagrid t-shirt. a smile tugged on his face when he got out of the bathroom.
“enjoying the book so much?” he asked, teasing you about it. a chuckle escaped your lips as your eyes landed on him, immersed in how fluffy he looked in his pajamas with his hair getting dry. “it’s your 5th read,”
“you can’t blame me,” you defended. “i love it so much,”
seungmin let out a giggle before he leaned forward and kissed your forehead and proceeded to do his nightly routine. you share a vanity mirror with your favorite products aligned neatly on the flat surface. it’s a common sight every night on his day off as he ended up cuddling you after he’s done. your boyfriend misses you oftentimes when he can’t go home during his hectic schedule but he tries to give time to call or text you whenever he gets a break in between. nevertheless, you were always busy too, especially when you were in your last semester in college. but your clinginess to each other never fails to miss any time just to talk and ask how you were doing.
he sat down as he looked at himself in the mirror doing his skincare which you always find cute. you didn’t know why but he’s the type to be all clean and comfortable before going to bed. his sweet scent helps you sleep at night and his soothing voice sounds like a lullaby, he could invite you into a pillow fight or just talk about random things until 2 am. bedtime seungmin is one of your favorite seungmin. but he promised you’d sleep together a little early after an exhausting day.
you closed the book, setting it aside for the night as you watched him doing his finishing touch. that rosehip oil lip balm of his. you never tried that flavor before because of your consistent use of cherry or the original one of the brand.
“you’re no fun, y/n,” he’d say and you just have to roll your eyes at his statement. but rosehip oil had you hooked. you knew he’s been using it for a while now but you don’t care. yet watching him apply that roseate wax with a curios scent made you wonder what it tastes like, especially when it’s coated all over his lips.
“is it sweet?” you asked.
“you want to try?” he asked, not breaking his eye contact with himself in your vanity mirror.
“can i?” you beamed, but instead of handing you the small object, seungmin being seungmin leaned forward to kiss you. a smirk formed on his lips, a sign of triumph when he leaned away, leaving you a blushing mess. “you’re a teasing maniac, are you?”
“at least you get to try it specially,” he said, winking at you while giggling. “relax babe, it’s just lip balm,”
“pssh,” you hissed at him.
“how was it?” he said, still plastering that annoying smirk on his face.
“good,” you said. “the lip product, i mean,” you added back as he sighs in disbelief.
“how about my lips then?” he pouted like a baby.
“i don’t know for sure,” you said, letting out an evil chuckle as seungmin started to pout his lips even more.
“here, kiss it,” he said, pointing his lips.
“no,” you retorted playfully when he tried to shorten the gap between you two as he make kissing sounds.
“one kiss!” he laughed in between. “y/n!”
“no, back off!” you said, pushing him away but seungmin is persistent with the kiss and it is always a way to tease you because he knew that you won’t be able to resist it even if you try to avoid it.
“my lips are waiting,” he said.
“one kiss?” you asked as he took the same lip product again to apply.
“just one,” he reassured. “unless you beg for more?” he added licking his lips while wiggling his brows and that’s when you burst out laughing for making a reference.
“i love you so much,” you said in between your laughs and seungmin was proud of his sense of humor. “not just one okay?” you smiled.
“y/n, babe, i know you can’t just have one,” he said as you rolled your eyes in response before kissing him again.
his lips were hot as you tasted the flavored lip balm. it was bitter indeed but the sweet scent of it made it more addicting and having it on your boyfriend’s lips had it intoxicating. seungmin knows you are a sucker for his kisses and melt over it. that is one thing that you always miss when he’s not around, the thing you would always look forward to when he gets home and the thing that you always want the most when you two are alone. how can he blame you when you told him he is a good kisser?
“you’re so cute,” he said, breaking the kiss pressing his forehead against yours.
“and you’re annoying,” you chuckled. “in a good way of course,” you smiled. “i love you, seungmin,”
“i love you too jagi,” he said, giving you a quick kiss before taking you inside his arms and cuddled yourselves to sleep. you can’t wait to spend your weekend with him all alone.

I saw in the notes of one of your posts that you have dermatillomania. I was recently diagnosed with that but it's been a problem for a long time. I've never met anyone else irl with dermatillomania, and I was just wondering if you could share any coping mechanisms you use? I've been getting acrylic mail manicures so I physically can't break skin but that only prevents damage. It's not helping me actually break the habit at all
lmfao oh darling. i love you for thinking i have any answers here
of course, since it's me, i do anyways
congrats on finally getting your diagnosis!! for those who don't know, Dermatillomania is a skin-picking disorder believed to affect as many as 1 out of 20 people, whether they're picking/biting at cuticles and nails, plucking hairs, popping pores or picking at scabs etc. etc. The skin-picking can be compulsive, often serving as a self-soothing behavior against extreme emotions, stress, anxiety, excess energy or simply boredom
Tumblr media
first, check out the wonderful folks at the Picking Me Foundation, the largest nonprofit & digital resource for those with dermatillomania. Their website has an online support group, self-logging downloadables, and their "fiddle pack project," for strategically selected (and tailored for dermatillomaniacs [not sure if that's a word but i decided it is now]) $30 multipacks of stim toys!
Tumblr media
they're 100% nonprofit, and every pack they sell is matched with the international donation of a pack to a therapist, pediatrician or fellow dermatillomaniac in need!
plus, check out #pickingme on social media for both their advice & solidarity among fellow picking enthusiasts
Picking Me has A++ strategic advice for their stim toys, and thinking strategically about your own behaviors and habits is my biggest advice. what does your picking look like? when do you find yourself doing it?
if a pattern doesn't immediately appear, try logging when & where you find yourself picking, what happened beforehand, and how you feel while doing so.
part of dermatillomania I don't always see discussed is the satisfaction of seeing your body's landscape change; picking as a control tactic, a means of self-soothing and reaffirming your autonomy and power. or it may be an expression of perfectionism, or anxiety, or beyond. pay close attention to yourself. look for the overlap. what is picking doing for you?
once you recognize the mechanisms of picking, what needs it's fulfilling, and when, and how; then you can provide new pathways for your habits to flow down; I realized I tended to pluck my brows (and beyond...) in the bathroom, so boom: stim toy in the bathroom. figure out your unique physical locations and cues and give yourself new options
also, hide or obstruct the ease of access to former habits. acrylic nails are a great personal block; I put my sharp tweezers in a wildly inconvenient place, not out in the open, so it's harder for me to casually grab them. if you bite your nails or cuticles, buy the nail polish that makes it taste gross. if you pick at inflamed pores, use zit stickers (I prefer the cheap and plentiful OG brand, COSRX, which are barely-visible circles, but you can make it fun with any of the 10 zillion novelty shape brands now available at Sephora, Target, Marshalls/T.J. Maxx & most drugstores) make picking difficult, and give yourself other options
similarly, you can challenge yourself to lovingly make growth your focus. smooth cuticle oil into your skin; use growth serums & your favorite-colored polish on your nails; for facial picking, give yourself spa days of clay masks (fun to pick off as they dry!), pore strips (SO satisfying), and scar-reducing facial oils like rosehip; for bodily picking, moisturize with lovely non-comedogenic oils and smooth Mederma or natural scar-reducing remedies to help your skin heal. put all that time and focused attention + love and gratitude into increasing, not reducing, your body (+ self)
re: gratitude, I swear to god Jessica Defino had a post about gratitude as a skincare routine; thanking your skin everyday for its work as a barrier, for it's countless built-in systems that self-exfoliate, self-moisturize, self-heal and grow, all while keeping a harmful world at bay. the skin is our largest living organ, and it is here to keep you warm and safe. your skin is built to touch and hold, to hug and be hugged. you can learn to love it the way it loves you. you can touch yourself as gently, as kindly as you deserve to be touched. this, too, is a kind of growing.
(Also to my facial & pore-picking beauties: just read any and all of Defino's articles about simplifying [like, soap water and moisturizer simplifying] your skincare, skin-fasting, the joys of touching your face gently, and more<333)
figure out what actions and textures you've become accustomed to, and, whether you have the benefit of a pack of stim toys like Pick Me's or just certain blankets, jackets, fidget jewelry, or one Really Good Rock, try to find stims that mimic, replace or even subvert the textures you've been drawn to. you want something satisfying and engaging to play with while still feeling meditative to you.
or if stim toys aren't your thing, (and even if they are!) try tactile pastimes that lead to obvious visual progress: painting, drawing, knitting, woodworking, cooking/baking!, cleaning [dishes, sheets, etc.] gardening, so on & so forth. things that prove your control & show the mark of your will wrought upon the world
the next time you find yourself wanting to pick (hopefully waylaid by an alternate hand function and/or strategic obstructions) take a mental step back. carve out that space between impulse & action. pool the feeling into your palms and examine it, tilt it around to see it catch a different light. how are you feeling right now? what's causing you to feel this way? what else could help you alleviate or accept that feeling?
if it's stress, anxiety, anger or other strong negative emotions, rest one hand over your heart, one over your lovely stomach, and take several deep yoga breaths. Long inhale through the nose, hold for a few seconds, longer exhale out. Let your throat make noise. After a few minutes, make a list of what’s worrying you and help yourself rationalize what tiny steps will help lessen their effects on you.
(Deep breaths, longer exhales and putting a hand over your heart have each individually been shown to alleviate your body's stress response, an immediate way to gift yourself some calm and a sense of safety)
if it's boredom; again, new textures and pasttimes are your friend. try going for a walk or other physical action of your choice (does not need to be long or challenging to be good for you!), listen to a podcast or new music, challenge yourself to try something new you've been wanting to explore, but can never find the time. a desire to pick can indicate you are suffering from a lack of enrichment: so yes, now is the time to try to learn the kalimba.
so, yes, it turns out i do indeed have many answers, but my initial scorn comes from any suggestion i might be above my bad habits; I've picked at my skin several times today. and that's okay. try to recognize and subvert your impulses when they happen, but also acknowledge and accept that they will happen. that's just how it goes babey. progress, not perfection.
love, luck and godspeed<33

Rose hips are the fruit of the rose plant. Every rose blossom that is left unpicked will eventually develop a berry-like hip after the flower fades away. Each hip contains rose seeds inside, along with hundreds of little fuzzy hairs. Rose hips are edible and have medicinal values.

Weirdly specific questions to get to know me
Favorite form of potato?
Godddd i think either mashed potatoes or hashbrowns? I can also really fuck up some good latkes
Do you change into specific clothes for the house when you get home?
The minute i get home i am getting comfy!!! Ngl i tend to just. Not wear a lot at home.
Do you have a skincare routine (and how many steps is it?)
I do but i've been really bad about it for a while, it's like 3-4 steps depending on how dry my face is. I usualy use a micellar water to cleanse, then a spray toner (i really like a rosehip one i got from tj maxx and now i have to get it off amazon), then the full of grace serum from lush as a moisturizer because most moisturizers either make me break out or cost $50. Sometimes i'll use a rosehip oil on top of everything because it's great for moisture and my rosacea, i just can't do it every day. Basically i just have to do everything in my power to reduce the fkn redness
First thing you're doing in the purge?
Can i just do some sort of fraud to buy a house? I'd also like to steal money from rich people. I would also murder my friend's ex husband, or perhaps just frame him for something so he finally fucking goes to prison because he would get killed there anyway for his uh. Particular crimes

Tips from a recovering nail biter
My lil tip for nail biters who wanna quit - scented cuticle oil. Well, cuticle oil in general, but scented cuticle oil is even better.
If you can't deal with any added fragrance, try oil blends with stronger natural scents like rosehip or essential oils (whichever ones you can tolerate, I know not all are sensitive skin/nose friendly). The idea is to pick a scent that's pleasant but not associated with food. Those fruity and bakery scents are nice but may encourage you to nibble if you already have trouble keeping your hands out of your mouth. The idea is to condition yourself to associate that particular scent with "hands away from mouth". I like typical perfume scents, so I went with jasmine and rose.
I make my own cuticle oil. It's easy, cheap and there are dozens of recipes online. Most of them are jojoba-based, but feel free to add other oils or ingredients for added benefits. If you wanna keep it simple, jojoba oil straight from the bottle will work wonders all by itself.
Try to keep some kind of cuticle balm or oil on your person at all times. Treat it like chapstick for your nails. Rub a little on your nails every time you remember, you really can't do it too much. Keep your hands clean, but don't excessively expose them to water or harsh chemicals. Use gloves when cleaning (extremely important, borderline non-negotiable), and groom your cuticles daily.
Nail hardening polishes aren't bad but they're not the best. They can help protect your nails in a pinch, but they tend to overcorrect, making your nails more prone to breaks. If you can, I recommend getting a few mani supplies instead, like polish and orange sticks/a cuticle pusher. You'll want a barrier over your nails at pretty much all times. I'm biased toward gel, so I recommend a base coat, a topcoat, and a rubber builder gel. Normal polish is perfectly fine if you don't wanna fuss with UV or have an allergy. Just get a top, a base, and whatever color you want to wear whether it's nude or something fun. I don't care if you're masc or a man. You don't need a color on your nails if you don't want it but you will need something. Top coats come in matte if you don't like shine. If you're going with gel you have to use a rubberized base coat. Most biters have thin, flat nail beds that need support as they grow out. Rubber base gels provide protection and flexibility.
Rubber base coat + (whatever color you want) + top coat = profit.
Soak the polish off and replace it when it grows out (every week or two for me, but it depends on how fast your nails grow), but make sure to give your fingers a day or overnight to breathe between sets (if you wear anything heavier than a few coats of polish). Darker colors like deep reds or black can stain pretty fast, even with a base coat. Don't be alarmed if you remove your polish to see that they're brownish. You're fine. You haven't given yourself some horrible nail disease.
If you're starting off with broken skin, protect it. Wear a bandage over your boo-boos until they've healed up. Get a pair of nippers and get into the habit of using them to clip off hang nails or peeling skin. Don't let me catch you biting them off with your teeth. No, it's not fine just because it isn't your actual nail.
Controversial, but I don't recommend running to the nail salon in your first month of recovery. Fake nails are amazing for protecting your real ones as they grow out, but if you've just decided to stop biting, I'd wait a while before getting a set. 2-4 weeks at least. You'll want to begin the process of breaking your muscle memory before spending upwards of 50 bucks on a set that you'll just be tempted to eat off. Fake nails are not a replacement chew toy, they're a shield. I also recommend that you keep them as short as you can, just barely longer than your natural nail if not the same length. It may be tempting to go for those sexy stilettos or 2-inch coffins but trust me, life is different with longer nails. You have to work your way up to that length. Even a few millimeters can make a huge difference in how you function and you don't want to risk damaging your natural nails.
I also use Hard as Hoof cream before bed and after every shower and hand wash - that's really important. You'll always want to oil up your fingies. It's about 8 dollars USD and I thiiiink you can get it at drug stores. I get mine on Amazon. It really is a wonder product for your nails and really nice on my dry ass knuckles too.
I've been a nail-biter for over 25 years and this is the farthest I've ever gone without a relapse. Seeing my bell-shaped nails slowly return to a normal shape has been so reassuring. I always believed I'd gnawed myself into ugly nails forever, but nature is finally healing.
No matter how bad your nails look, recovery is possible! Be friendly to yourself. If you've been biting for years, you won't recover in 2 weeks. It's a process, and I believe in you.

What do they smell like?
Realistically, if you hugged them (P3) - (p1) (p2)
Mattsukawa: He showers a lot to get the work smell off him- Smoky sage and white musk are the main scents in his cologne. Gives gentle, firm hugs that cage your entire shoulders.
Hanamaki: cucumber water and rosehip oil. He nurtures his skin. Lazy side grabbing hugger.
Yahaba: Mint. Aggressively like spearmint. Even his sweat is minty. Will grab your shoulders and pull you in for a quick, tight hug.
Kyōtani: Inexplicably like pipe tobacco??? He doesn't smoke. It's probably a cologne, but like... No one's sure. Breif, tight hugs from him. Sometimes one armed.
Ennoshita: The clinical doctors office smell never really leaves, but neither does the light green tea scent he drinks. Likely to pop your back if he hugs you like a goddamned chiropractor.
Kunimi: cucumber melon body lotion. Weak shitty hugs AND he bunches up the back of your jacket with his hands, but he smiles at you when he breaks away.
Akiteru: Citrus! He's fresh! He's zesty! He puts lemon essential oils on his dryer balls. Tight hugger, really grips you and shakes you a lil.
Kindaichi: Axe body wash and deodorant AND spray. You are GOING to smell the cloud of Ambassador© a solid minute before he walks into the room. Strong but short lived hugs. (Longer ones would make your eyes water.)
Takeda: Like barley tea and ink pens. Crispy fresh laundry scent is embedded in his cardigans, so if you like laundromats, give him a squeeze. Not likely to initiate a hug but returns them gently and with genuine joy.
Fukunaga: Like he's been frying bacon! Frycook smell. Restaurant back of house smell. A lil sweaty when he hugs you but he makes a joke about it so you never really mind. Known to improvise elaborate handshakes on a whim.
Taketora: Sweat. Black ice soap and aftershave if he's just showered. Slaps your back, HARD, when he's finished hugging you.
Koganegawa: He occasionally forgets deodorant, but uses hibiscus dryer sheets and usually smells like those. Will quickly squeeze you when he hugs.
Futakuchi: Like a latte, but the scent changes with the seasons. Lavender in spring, vanilla in summer, pumpkin spice and cinnamon in fall and winter. Bumps into your side and slides into the hug.
Semi: This guy. Leather and rosemary. Smoky, like it's incense he's been burning and not something he put on intentionally. Never lets the hug go on for too long.
Goshiki: Surprisingly sophisticated. Oak and cinnamon from an expensive name brand cologne he impulse purchased during an after-Christmas sale. Is just radiating heat up close when you're in his arms.
Komori: Sort of fruity. Coconut mango body wash will do that. Short and simple hugger, whacks you on the back when he's done.
Aran: Delightful. Has cologne contract obligations, but he'd smell like them regardless. It's a smooth amber scent with a touch of something floral, classy and masculine with a hint of sweetness. Smooths a palm up and down your back when hugging.
Kita: Like rice husk and old pine boards, hard work and sweat and sunshine. A little dusty- when he hugs there might be a little milled rice flour left behind on your back. Hugs firm and solid and really connects with you.
Suna: Sandalwood and almond and juniper. Part cologne, part something else- he won't tell you no matter how much you ask and it's driving everyone completely insane. Likes to sneak up from behind to hug.
Atsumu: Tonka bean & anise cologne.... Sweet and dark. Raises his arms like a bear before he hugs you, likely to rock you around a little before he lets you go with another squeeze.
Hoshiumi: CAMPHOR BODY SPRAY. Usually kind of sticky. He WILL pick you up when he hugs you. This is a threat.

Salve
Universe: Identity V (Time of Reunion/Ashes of Memory) Summary: The Naturalist shares a salve for The Prospector's scars that unexpectedly also proves to be a balm for his soul. Word count: 1362
A follow up to Campbell + soup, in which the ship actually starts to get a little shippy 6v6 bc i can eternally only sum up the attention span to write the “interesting” parts lmao
For the umpteenth time that day Norton had to stop himself from scratching at his scar. It always worsened in the winter, when his skin was dry. It was maddening, impossible to ignore, but of course scratching it only made his parched skin bloody. So he cursed under his breath and balled his fingers into a fist, a combination of behaviors that earned him an anxious glance from The Naturalist, who was seated nearby with a book. “What’s wrong?”
Norton was learning that The Naturalist was a flighty, nervous individual, as jumpy as a deer. He made a conscious effort to unclench both his fist and his jaw. “Just this damn scar. It gets so itchy in the winter.”
The Naturalist’s shoulders dropped as they became less tense. A sympathetic look came over them. “Ah. Do you have anything to put on it?”
He stared at them. “Like what?”
The Naturalist closed their book and stood. “I have a salve that might help.”
More curious than hopeful, Norton followed them to their room, where they began digging through a green travel chest. From it they produced a small, flat, circular container. When they opened it, a pleasant floral scent drifted from within. “What’s in it?” Norton asked.
“Oil of lavender, helichrysum, and rosehips to rejuvenate the skin cells, as well as a little beeswax for bonding,” they explained.
He appreciated that they included the purpose of the ingredients in their description. When they offered him the jar for examination, he took a sniff of the floral aroma. “What’s heely…whatever you said?”
“Another flowering herb. It’s related to sunflowers. The heli part of the name comes from the Greek word for ‘sun’...” The Naturalist blinked as if catching themself. “Sorry. Habit from work.”
The way they turned a bit pink and lowered their gaze made something odd happen in Norton’s chest. “I don’t mind,” he found himself saying, despite having little care for flowers. “That’s interesting.”
He must not have sounded very convincing, as they looked somewhat doubtful. Rather than press the matter, he asked, “How do I use it?”
“You just apply it to the skin. You’ll want to massage it a little for it to really do its work.”
“So rub it in.” That sounded easy enough.
“No, no, no,” they said quickly. “You don’t want to rub it too much or it will just evaporate before absorbing into the skin. And you have to be careful when it’s so close to your eye. Here, may I-?”
Without really thinking about what they were asking, he replied, “Sure.”
The Naturalist scooped a bit of the salve onto their first two fingers, scooted in close to him, and with a feather-light touch applied it to his cheek. Norton froze still as a statue. The salve was pleasantly cool and immediately soothing on its own, but as their gentle fingers began moving in small circles to work the mixture into his skin, a kind of calm came over him that he hadn’t felt in a long time. The last time anyone had touched him so gently had been his mother when he was just a boy with a scraped knee that she cleaned and bandaged and kissed better. Still, this was different, more deliberate somehow. The persistent circling of their fingertips was almost hypnotic.
As they worked, their face so close to his, Norton could see a scar in their right eyebrow that he’d never noticed before, cutting down from their forehead towards the bridge of their nose. He wondered how they had obtained such a mark. Perhaps that was why they owned scar salve. “Where did you get this stuff?” he asked.
“I make it,” they replied, their voice quiet and distant in their concentration.
They scooped a bit more salve and focused their ministrations on his temple. His bangs were in the way; when Rosario brushed them up off his brow they just fell forward again, so Norton held his bangs back with one hand. The scent combined with their soothing touch relaxed him immensely. His eyes wandered over their features now, partly out of curiosity to see if there was anything else he hadn’t noticed. The Naturalist was oblivious to his staring, so focused were they on their work, their brow furrowed slightly in concentration. Norton had to admit, they were handsome in a boyish way. They had long eyelashes and a smattering of freckles left over from the summer fading on their cheeks and nose. Their lips were shaped like a bow, the kind with a curve in the middle, but soft and plush as a pillow. Norton wondered if they’d ever been kissed. It was hard to imagine they hadn’t. He wagered they tasted like the aromatic tea they were so fond of drinking. It would surely be a pleasant experience to spend some time slowly savoring them and feeling them relax and melt in his arms…
“What are you doing?” The Naturalist demanded, bracing a hand suddenly against his shoulder.
It was only then he realized he had apparently started to lean forward, focused as he was on those tantalizing lips. Now the spell was broken, and Norton blinked several times to clear his head. “Oh, sorry, uh…that stuff smells good, it’s really relaxing.”
This excuse had the intended result of disarming them. “Good. How does it feel?”
Now that he was paying attention again, he realized that not only was the itchiness gone, but his skin felt pleasantly supple and fresh, better than if he’d just washed. “It doesn’t itch anymore,” he marveled. “It feels so much better.”
The Naturalist looked pleased. “Excellent, I’m glad to hear that. Here.” They closed the little tin and pressed it into his palm. “You should keep it in case it starts acting up again.”
He examined the little jar in his hand, thinking. Their gentle massaging had been so pleasant that he wanted to feel it again. Glancing up at them, he quirked his brow. “If it does, I might need you to give me another demonstration on how to use it.”
To his delight, their features took on a charming shade of scarlet. “I—…it’s very straightforward, I’m certain you won’t have any trouble. As I said, just don’t rub it too hard and don’t get any in your eye.”
He tossed and caught the jar deftly a few times. “I just don’t think I can do it like you can. It felt real nice.”
They turned their blushing face away with a scowl. “…it makes you smell a lot nicer, too,” they muttered, and he didn’t think they meant it as an insult.
“There you go,” he said decisively. “It’s a win-win. I get more massages, and you don’t have to put up with my stink.”
“You’re insufferable,” they said, still scowling and blushing.
“If you don’t want me around, you should quit giving me free stuff.” Norton continued grinning and tossing the jar, enjoying watching them squirm.
The Naturalist glanced at him from the corner of their eye. “Is that all there is to it?” they asked softly.
Was he imagining it, or did they sound just a little disappointed? He stopped playing with the jar. “Well, the other thing you’ve got going against you is that your company, as frigid as it can be, is still better than anyone else in this place.”
“Well,” they stammered, “I suppose I’ll have to learn to tolerate you, then.”
His grin broadened. “Sounds like a challenge to me.”
“Get out of my quarters,” The Naturalist demanded with absolutely no real force in their tone at all.
Norton waggled the jar at them. “You didn’t tell me how often I need to use this.”
He held their gaze this time to ensure they caught his meaning. From the way their eyes widened in surprise as their blush returned, he reckoned they had. “…whenever you feel discomfort,” they said quietly. “If you would like assistance, you know where to find me.”
Their sincerity touched him. His smile softened. “I might make you regret that,” he said half-ruefully.
A mischievous glint flashed in The Naturalist’s eyes. “Sounds like a challenge to me.”

Rosehips Magic-Using Rosehips for Witchcraft
Tumblr media
Finding Rosehips
Rosehips are commonly harvested during the Fall and Winter. They are small and bright red making them easy to forage and find. If you grow your own roses in your garden, don’t deadhead the flowers once they’ve died off. The base of the flower is what turns to a rosehip come Fall.
Rosehips are best gathered after the first frost especially if you are using them for food and medicine. But if it won’t get cold enough in your area for a while, don’t fret! You can simulate the frost by popping your rose hips into the freezer for 24 hours before using or drying them.
The rosehips you’ll want to gather are going to be bright red or red-orange in color. They should be soft but not mushy. Depending on the size of your bushes, most of the time rosehips are gathered one at a time. We have large wild roses that have to be maintained so we cut them off in bunches and sort the ripe and non-ripe ones out later.
If you can’t find rosehips in your area, places like Mountain Rose Herbs and Starwest Botanicals are good places to order already dried rosehips from.
Always make sure when gathering plants in the wild to a) pick them in areas not exposed to pesticides, chemicals and other toxic substances and b) leave some behind for the animals. Deer and birds especially love rosehips so leaving enough for the animals over the winter is the smart choice.
So now that you have your rosehips, what do you do with them?
(If you are interested in using them for food and medicine as well as how to dry them, check out our post from earlier this week. Find it here.)

Before a spell ritual or just as a stress reliever-Fill a mesh bag( or old nylon pantyhose) with crushed rose hips and rose petals. While in the bath, meditate all of your stress and negative energies away. Visualize them washing down the drain with the water when you are done.
Love spells(pre-ritual bathing)– Using mental visualization, envision red, pink or white light surrounding you. You are looking for your ideal partner to find you( don’t envision anyone in particular(IE a crush) just focus on your person finding you.)

Please share some of your hair care tips!! Sending you an ask so other women can see 💜
ok is gonna be a bit long:
1. diet is probably the single most important thing. eat lots of eggs, avocado, nuts, fish, and berries
2. find a shampoo that works for you. i have dandruff rn so I’m using shea moistures apple cider vinegar shampoo. every 2 weeks I use a clarifying shampoo (olaplex 4 and 5). I have other shampoos too for other seasons and needs
3. shampoo only your scalp (3x) and massage gently into your scalp
4. condition only the ends and wring the water out before applying. i have a shower cap I put on for deep conditioning while I wash my body
5. brush hair only 2x a day - morning and before bed. if you’re showering, before the shower but not before bed. don’t brush if your hair is wet, it’s more likely to break
6. use warm water for all washes and rinses until the last one, i flip my head upside down and final rinse is with cold water
7. to dry, only cotton t shirts or microfibre towels
8. I let it towel dry for 30-45 min, then let the rest air dry. never sleep with wet hair. if you have to go to bed, blow dry with cold air focusing on the roots
9. when hair is damp out of the shower, apply hair oil (I use the honey infused Gisou oil or argan oil)
10. i oil my scalp 1x week. Use a carrier oil like jojoba or argan or rosehip, add a few drops of essential oil (rosemary and peppermint are the best, tea tree is good for dandruff too). part your hair and apply to your scalp, then gently massage it in. put hair up in a clip and let it sit for 1-3h and then wash off in the shower
11. for oiling days, I use a bit of coffee grinds in the first shampoo wash to help really get rid of the oil
12. avoid touching your hair and scalp outside of the shower
13. sleep on silk sheets and with a protective hairstyle (hair oiled, braided, tied with a silk scrunchie)
14. protective hairstyles almost 90% of the time - lose braids not starting at the roots, loose ponytails or buns, claw clips
15. oil the ends of your hair every day after brushing. i like argan the best. just a few drop and then coat your ends, running it through with your hands
I hope this helps! i can explain further if you need. hair oiling is great but the biggest helps are for sure the diet, oiling of the ends and the silk pillowcases!
Edit, forgot this:
16. Don’t wash your hair every day. i do it 2-3x a week, usually 2x, that’s when my scalp starts to get itchy. judge it by how itchy your scalp gets

hey! so, uhm, sorry if answering this makes you uncomfy, or, i understand if you don't want to answer this.
tw!
i recently relapsed, after 4 years clean. could, i have a lil positivity, and tips on how to avoid it? i know i can google search tips, but they all seem so topical and cold. i need to know that someone cares, even if it's just a stranger on the internet (but a very kind stranger).
-they/he
Hello dear!
Thank you so much for reaching out to me. I know it is not easy, but seeking support is a sign of great strength. I am so sorry to hear you’re struggling with a relapse. I think this is referring to self harm, but if you are referring to an eating disorder, substance use, or something else please let me know and I can reply with an adjusted response!
First I want to remind you that you have done nothing wrong. This does not erase or diminish the years of progress you have made. Everyone has the chance of relapse, and many of us do. I myself have absolutely done so, and it’s important to forgive ourselves. You did the best you could in that moment and I know that. All that matters now is helping you return to a safe and solid ground for healing.
Of course is physical safety is important. Keeping any wounds new or old clean and cared for is very important. I know this can be a mental struggle, so turning on a video or something silly can help. Disinfect fresh or relatively fresh wounds, and if you can apply a cream such as Neosporin to reduce risk of infection or damage. Do not bandage over the Neosporin, let it absorb and the area dry. Change bandages frequently and avoid irritants on the area. If the scars do trigger you, you can start applying lotions and skin care such as rosehip oil as soon as they fully heal and scabs are gone.
Avoiding relapse is hard, but it is definitely possible. Many nights are sitting and fighting with yourself until you fall asleep, and that’s unfortunate but true. It’s important to have a Safety Plan made for when you have these difficult times. We can’t think clearly under intense stress, so when you have a clear mind take the opportunity to write out a plan. Here is a good template.
Removing triggers is very important, as is developing coping skills for when you have triggers that are inevitable come up. Rid yourself of any and all objects for self harm. Yes even the ones with other purposes if possible. Keep dull scissors and maybe a safety cutter for kiddos. It has been found repeatedly that simply not having access to a method of self harm vastly effects the likelihood of a person doing so! So keep them away!
Some people need to focus on the feelings, and some need a distraction until the subside. Neither is better than the other!
To process you can journal, talk to yourself out loud about your feelings, pretend you’re comforting a friend and respond to your feelings in that way. Draw about your feelings, create art even if it’s not “good” or pretty. Try making something with your negative feelings and then changing it by adding more positive thoughts and affirmations.
To distract or comfort, a good method is to pile up all of your comfiest things, pick a show, game, book, music, etc. and put it on. Music you find comforting (not music that make you sad!!!) here’s mine! Lay down and give yourself the time to rest. It’s ok to sleep or stay awake, to tune in and out. But just breathe. Let yourself be comfortable. Consider repeating some affirming phrases out loud or in your head:
- I do not deserve pain or harm no matter what
- Harming myself will not make me feel better or fix the things I’m struggling with
- I am going to be okay, it’s okay that I don’t feel good right now
- This will not last forever.
- I am a being of love and I am loved by those around me
If you feel that you cannot sit still and must do something, going for a walk may be helpful. You can also do a workout video, yoga, dance, or choose a task like organizing your space.
If you are struggling with feeling that you need the sensation of self harming, you can try several options. Fidgets are a good start, then you could try snapping a rubber band or hair tie, holding ice on your skin or in your hand, drawing with pen on your skin, or other safe temporary discomforts.
After getting through the worst of it, getting out of that hole is important. Go outside even if you just sit still. Call a friend or text them. Play a game, read at a coffee shop, just move. Try to talk to someone close to you as soon as possible, and if possible contact a therapist for an appointment. Don’t tell yourself it isn’t important, it is! You have been struggling, and while we may think we’re out of the dark and don’t need help, it’s always worth seeking support so you can avoid that darkness in the future.
Remember when in crisis you can always text HOME to 741741 to receive support from a crisis counselor. I can attest this line is very helpful.
Sorry this is a bit messy, it had to be written from my phone! I can tell you that you have my full support, and I know you can do this. Thank you for reaching out, I am always here if you need some comfort or advice! Much love ❤️
-Evan

How to Choose the Best Lip Balm for Dark Lips to Nourish and Protect Your Pink Lips
Lips are one of the most delicate and sensitive parts of our body, and their health and appearance play a crucial role in enhancing our overall look. Dark lips can be a result of various factors such as sun exposure, genetics, certain medical conditions, and lifestyle habits. In order to keep our lips healthy and bright, it's important to use the right lip balm.
Dark lips can be a cosmetic concern, and many people look for ways to lighten and brighten their lips. Even though there are many cosmetic treatments, a simple and natural way to make dark lips look better is to use a lip balm with nourishing ingredients.
A good lip balm should be able to hydrate, nourish, and protect our lips from environmental factors. In this article, we'll discuss the ingredients that make a lip balm effective for dark lips, and how to choose the best one for your needs.
Hydrating Ingredients
Dry and chapped lips can often lead to darkening, so it's important to choose a lip balm that contains ingredients that can hydrate and moisturize your lips. Some of the best hydrating ingredients for lip balms include:
Shea Butter: This natural ingredient is rich in fatty acids and antioxidants, and it can help to nourish and hydrate your lips. It also has anti-inflammatory properties, which can help soothe irritated lips.
Coconut Oil: Coconut oil is a natural moisturizer that can help to hydrate your lips and keep them soft and supple. It's also rich in antioxidants, which can help to protect your lips from environmental damage.
Beeswax: Beeswax is a natural wax that can help to form a barrier on your lips, sealing in moisture and preventing your lips from becoming dry or chapped.
2. Brightening Ingredients
If you're looking to lighten and brighten your dark lips, it's important to choose a lip balm that contains ingredients that can help to do so. Some of the best brightening ingredients for lip balms include:
Vitamin E: This powerful antioxidant can help to protect your lips from environmental damage and keep them healthy and bright. It can also help to soothe and moisturize dry and chapped lips.
Aloe Vera: Aloe vera is a natural ingredient that is known for its moisturizing and soothing properties. It can help to hydrate your lips and reduce the appearance of dark spots.
Lemon Extract: Lemon extract is a natural ingredient that is rich in Vitamin C, which is known for its brightening and skin-lightening properties. It can help to lighten dark lips and improve their overall appearance.
3. Sun Protection
Exposure to the sun can cause our lips to darken and become dry and chapped, so it's important to choose a lip balm that contains ingredients that can provide sun protection. Some of the best sun protection ingredients for lip balms include:
Zinc Oxide: This mineral is a natural sunscreen that can help to protect your lips from UV damage. It can also help to soothe and moisturize your lips.
Titanium Dioxide: This mineral is another natural sunscreen that can help to protect your lips from the harmful effects of the sun.
4. Essential Oils
Essential oils can add a pleasant scent to your lip balm, and some of them can also provide additional benefits for your lips. Some of the best essential oils for lip balms include:
Peppermint Oil: Peppermint oil has a cooling and soothing effect on the skin, and it can help to freshen your breath and improve the overall health of your lips.
Rosehip Oil: Rosehip oil is rich in antioxidants and fatty acids, and it can help to nourish and hydrate your lips. It can also help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the lips.
5. Natural and Organic Lip Balms
If you're looking for a lip balm that is gentle on your skin and free from harmful chemicals, it's best to choose a natural and organic lip balm. These lip balms are made from all-natural ingredients that are safe and gentle for your skin, and they can help to hydrate and nourish your lips without causing any adverse effects.
When choosing a natural and organic lip balm, look for one that is free from parabens, sulfates, and synthetic fragrances. Instead, look for a lip balm with ingredients that are good for your lips, like shea butter, coconut oil, beeswax, and essential oils.
In conclusion, choosing the right lip balm for dark lips can make a big difference in the health and appearance of your natural pink lips. Whether you're looking to hydrate, brighten, or protect your lips, be sure to choose a lip balm that contains the right ingredients for your needs. Consider your skin type, the environmental factors that you're exposed to, and any specific concerns that you have, and choose a lip balm that will help you achieve the best possible results.

How To Make A DIY Face Cream With Skin-Protecting Essential Oils
Tumblr media
First, the ingredients
Natural doesn’t mean wimpy. You don’t need chemicals to hydrate, even out skin tone, and smooth fine lines; plant-made ingredients can be super potent. “The beauty of using natural ingredients is many of them are easily absorbed into the skin and sometimes way more concentrated,” says Holistic esthetician Daron Hope, founder of EarthTonics Skincare.
Of course, in the beginning, stocking up on all of these skin-nourishing supplies to make your own skincare products can be a little pricey—but if you're committed to going natural, investing in these ingredients will absolutely save you money in the long run, since they're extremely versatile and can be used in everything from DIY body butters to lip balm to beeswax candles to soothing muscle salves.
Here’s a rundown of what ingredients are in the DIY face cream recipe below and why they're so great for your skin…
Shea butter: The super-rich moisturizer softens skin and locks in moisture.
Aloe gel: Healing, calming and antibacterial, aloe helps repair skin and replenish lost moisture.
Rose water: A skin soother that reduces redness and inflammation.
Jojoba oil: A potent skin repairer and anti-inflammatory with plumping powers.
Rosehip seed oil: Superstar anti-ager loaded with antioxidants that quenches dry skin.
Beeswax: A hydrator and emulsifier that helps bind water and oil together.
Frankincense essential oil: A natural healer that can erase wrinkles and hyperpigmentation while increasing elasticity.
Rose essential oil: A proven emollient and anti-inflammatory with hydrating, moisturizing and skin-softening powers.
DIY Skin Smoothing Face Cream
Makes 8 ounces
1/3 cup shea butter 1/8 cup beeswax ¼ cup jojoba or rosehip oil 1/3 cup rose water ½ cup aloe gel 15 drops Frankincense essential oil 15 drops rose essential oil
-------GET A FREE 500 BATH AND BEAUTY RECIPES EBOOK HERE-----
Directions:
1. In a double boiler, melt shea butter and beeswax together. After oils are melted allow them to cool slightly.
2. While shea butter mixture is melting, combine jojoba or rosehip, rose water, and aloe gel in a large glass measuring cup. Warm up the liquid in a double boiler (this will help it combine with the oil mixture).
3. Using an immersion blender or hand mixer, blend the heated aloe mixture until mixed completely (it will turn milky) and continue to blend while you stream in the melted shea butter mixture.
4. Blend for a few minutes until cream starts to emulsify and becomes thick and fluffy.
5. Add the essential oils and mix until combined.
6. Using a spatula, transfer cream into a large freezer bag or piping tube. Cut the tip and pipe into sterilized glass jars (four 2-ounce glass jars). Cap jars and store cream in fridge for up to one year.
7. Slather over face and luxuriate in the heavenly scent and natural ingredients.

I'm in so much pain rn but for the ask game if there are ones that havent been asked yet 26, 9, 7, and 2 im incredibly late with this lmao
-🌼
oh no why are you in pain daisy anon?? I hope everythings ok!! ty for the asks tho lol
2. thoughts on veganism?
not for me, I respect those who take it up for whatever reason they want, don't like those who try to act morally superior about using agave nectar and quinoa that was farmed through unfair labor practices though lol
also honey is vegan and if anyone argues otherwise they don't understand bees
7. what animal do you look forward to seeing when you visit an aquarium?
answered that here!
9. do you have a skincare routine (and how many steps is it)?
YES I WAS WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO ASK ME THIS
I really like talking about skincare so I was really excited about this question lol
for the mornings my routine is very simple! wash my face, put on a light moisturizer with spf, and put on a tiny bit of eye cream under my eyes bc the spf in my face moisturizer sometimes irritates my eyes so I find eye cream helps 'shield' them in a way
at night my routine gets a little more complicated. on a normal night it's about 4-5 steps? I take off my makeup and wash my face (if I have any super noticeable pimples I'll put pimple patches on them right after washing my face) then I put niacinamide serum on my face and let it soak in, then I press some rosehip oil into my skin after that, and then I put the same moisturizer on top along with a bit more eye cream than I use in the mornings.
once a week though I'll use an at home chemical exfoiliant, and when I do that I don't use any other products on my face besides moisturizer for the entire day. then either once or twice a week on the days I don't do the chemical exfoiliant, I'll use a night mask to just add some extra glow to my skin. I usually just put the night mask on after doing the entirety of my normal nighttime skincare routine, but I won't use niacinamide serum on those nights because the night mask I use already has niacinamide in it and I don't want to overdo it
ask game!

1. Zelda’s lovely skin is not solely the result of fortunate genetics. As part of her morning and evening regime, she has a skincare routine that includes a gentle washing morning and night followed by a moisturizing lotion, rosehip oil in the evening post-lotion, and exfoliating with charcoal two-three times a week depending on the humidity.
2. Even as a very young child, Zelda was mostly easy to handle and stayed quiet/well-behaved. There was only one time where she threw a major fit, stopping and screaming and crying, and that was when her prized miniature guardian was deemed a distraction and taken away from her. Unlike in AoC lore, however, Zelda’s mother was alive at this time. While Rhoam was the one who took the guardian away, it was Calista who reprimanded Zelda for acting out. It was the one and only time that Zelda felt afraid of her mother, and Calista’s disappointment in that moment is something that shaped Zelda into adulthood.
3. The only reason that Zelda does not develop carpal tunnel or a hunched back in her old age is because she does take care to stretch regularly. This is something that she learned from her writing tutor.
4. She used to have a nervous habit of shaking her hands as though they were wet that her nursemaids quickly scolded out of her. It still comes out when she’s particularly nervous in the way she rubs her thumb and forefinger or how she’ll tear scrap paper into tiny pieces when no one can see.
5. She has eaten numerous meals considered “gross” by local standards, including bugs and different parts of animals, during her travels both in and outside of Hyrule. As a royal, it goes against etiquette to decline a meal provided by her host or show distaste for it, though she’s allowed to stop after half of it is gone.
6. In her default verse, she has only traveled across the sea once, back when her mother was still alive. They went to celebrate a royal wedding and, unbeknownst to Zelda, a possible arrangement between herself and the young prince. In the end, however, Calista and Rhoam didn’t feel that the alliance would benefit Hyrule enough, and so the engagement never came to be.
7. Once, around the time of her mothers death, Zelda thought she saw the ghost of a beautiful woman down in the royal family crypts. Though she tried to catch a second glimpse of the ghost, it never appeared, and it became a lost memory once she dedicated herself to training.
8. Zelda’s ladies-in-waiting are partially responsible for ensuring that Zelda’s beauty standards are upheld while she focuses on her training. They used a special soap and oil treatment on her hair three times a week, hair removal creams to keep the skin on her legs, arms, and underarms smooth, and were supposed to inform the cook to adjust her food portions if she began to gain weight (though they never did.)
9. There is one person Zelda trusts to watch over her plants when she’s gone, and one only: her lady-in-waiting, Esha. Zelda leaves her very detailed instructions on how to care for them and has her jot down notes on their progress.
10. Zelda has had the same tailor all her life who custom creates her clothing. This same tailor created clothing for her mother.
