youve gotten a few asks about billford before, and your plans for ford's relationship with bill in your fic, but im curious if you personally ship it yourself/*like* it. and, just for the hell of it, if you have any opinion on billdip too, since that one's even more controversial.

I'm gonna put most of this under a cut since it's not only long, but also long about two different topics, but the tl;dr is:

Yeah, I'm a fan of billford. I don't think it's canon, inevitable, or necessary to their dynamic, and I'm still on the fence about whether things will tilt toward the romantic in my fic or if it'll stay platonic, but I do enjoy the ship a lot because it has a lot of (obsessive, weird, unhealthy, angsty) elements that interest me to explore in ships. Billdip, on the other hand, does nothing for me. I don't care about how people ship imaginary characters in their fictional fandoms and I'm not gonna block anybody for liking it, so this isn't a moral stance, here—I just don't like it personally.

One of the things that intrigues me most about a ship is the idea of love that's gone so far it isn't even love anymore but punched out the other side into unhealthy obsession, and "I'll spend the next thirty years of my life hunting you to death" versus "What if I turn you into a gold statue and carry you around to stare at you a lot" sure fit right into "unhealthy obsession." On top of that, some of my favorite ship dynamics are:

the worshiper and the person they've picked to revere as their god, either metaphorically or literally—with bonus points if the person they've devoted themself to doesn't deserve that worship and maybe isn't even all that special, and the worship actually reveals more about the mind of the lover than it does about the (un)divine nature of the beloved

the mad scientist and the muse who gives them ideas and inspires their work (one of my all-time OTPs has a line where the mad scientist says to his ex "we were each the muse to the other"), with bonus points if they both get so caught up in "what can we do together? What dreams can we make reality—" that they plunge into full "so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should" territory—and bonus bonus points if they eventually come out of the haze of SCIENCE and one of them is horrified by what they've done... but maybe the other one isn't.

two people who are wildly compatible with each other (similar hobbies, tastes, worldviews! they fill in the gaps in each other's personalities! they each happen to be the other's type! they understand each other like no one else can! whatever, fill in the blank!), but for some reason one betrayed the other, they've tried to kill each other, and now things are vicious and bloody and painful and raw between them; but if they talk to each other and accidentally let their guards down for even a split second, all that history is still there, they still like the same stupid movies and share the same stupid inside jokes no one else will ever understand and have the same stupid complementary life dreams, they could have been good for each other, but there's no road back to where they were before the betrayal. Their chemistry is like two huge magnets strapped to land mines: the attraction is as powerful as ever but heaven help them both if they ever touch.

or, alternatively, two people that have all that chemistry, but are just really toxic and do bad things when they're together and enable all each other's worst tendencies, even if they don't necessarily do bad things to each other; and they've got to navigate the fact that they might adore each other so much but they are objectively worse people when they're together.

I like ships with inhuman things. As a writer I like waxing romantic about the inhuman things and trying to convince the reader that yes, this too is beautiful and lovable when seen through the eyes of a lover. I will make you take the stupidest love interest seriously for five minutes. I've romanticized a sticky pile of goo, I've romanticized a robot spider, I've romanticized the concept of being a disembodied voice, I've romanticized a pteranodon made out of lava, and I'll romanticize a cyclopic gold-plated corn chip too, don't test me. Who better to adore a sentient triangle than a scientist-artist who sees the beauty in precise angles?

Depending on the headcanons and/or AUs you're working with, you can get all of these pretty darn easily out of Billford.

I like writing Ford as the awed naive intellectual, hungry for knowledge, for the secrets of the universe, for more, who was utterly dazzled and starstruck by this divinity who tantalized him with esoteric secrets—and who's been furious at Bill for thirty years for betraying him, hurting him, threatening his home and everyone he loves, but underneath all that also furious at him for not being what he advertised when he could have been that; and Bill, meanwhile, playing it cool, far too comfortable playing the role of faux god, but privately, secretly distraught that his favorite "student"—the one who takes Bill's "teachings" and gets creative and inventive with them, the one who always wanted to know more, not just about the universe but about Bill personally—his favorite student no longer worships him, doesn't even respect him, doesn't even see him as an equal, but looks at him like he's the scum of the universe, and Bill won't even admit that it bothers him but it's killing him that nothing he does can get his favorite to so much as smile at him again.

That's the dynamic in my head when I write them. You could play it as purely professional, a god disappointed to lose a worshiper like a boss disappointed to lose his best employee or a celebrity disappointed to lose the president of his fan club; or you could play it like platonic friendship, maybe a QPR; or you could play it like a romance. I like the zest added when you toss romance into this already nasty mess of emotions. I like capping off all that heartache with, "—and if things had turned out differently, maybe I would have taken your hand and traveled with you to the ends of eternity, if only you weren't [such a brutal heartless backstabbing piece of shit]/[unable to forgive a few white lies and some light torture]."

Billdip, on the other hand, does absolutely nothing for me. Not even just for the age reason—that does squick me out, but even if I try to look at it like "okay pretend he's aged up" or "stick it in an AU where they're both dumb kids having dumb kid crushes" I just, see nothing there. I don't even see anything there platonically. Like, legitimately—for the fic I'm working on, I've been trying to figure out what kind of dynamic/interactions they'd have beyond just "Dipper scowls at Bill a lot" and even on that level I've been struggling to think of something compelling between them. I look back on the fact that for a good few years billdip was the ship in the fandom and I go, "why? where's the meat? what do they do for each other?"

I'm forced to imagine that the ship must have been based on some combination of "fandoms naturally want to ship the everyman main character with the charismatic fun villain," "a bunch of teens with crushes on Bill were using Dipper as their self-insert stand-in," and "people assumed Bill wasn't lying when he said Dipper impressed him and didn't start revising that opinion until we got to see firsthand that he uses lines like that on everybody." It feels really uncharitable of me to the shippers to assume that their OTP is founded entirely on statistically average fandom trends and character misinterpretations rather than, like, y'know, traits actually present in the characters, so I'm taking it on faith that there's probably more to it than that and I just don't see it because it just ain't my jam.

When I do try to speculate harder on "how would I get them to interact with each other in a compelling way, like, just in a platonic sense?" my brain starts going "well, dipper's a nerd who's into the paranormal, he wants to know about mysterious things? maybe he's fascinated with bill as a mysterious thing? and maybe... idk, why would bill give a hoot about dipper—maybe bill takes advantage of that fascination, tempts him with more information, maybe he's amused by Dipper's curiosity about weird things—?" and that's usually about the point where I go "this is just, the way Bill and Ford met. This is the watered-down junior version of Bill and Ford's first few weeks." In trying to figure out what the heck Bill and Dipper would even talk about I keep accidentally recreating a less interesting version of Bill and Ford's dynamic.

I want and need Bill and Dipper to have an interesting character dynamic in this fic so being unable to come up with something that personally compels me has been actively frustrating me lmfao, but it does serve to illustrate my main point here: man, billdip does nothing for me so hard that I can't even see them platonically interacting.

15. Why do they like each other?

When they first meet in Dissonance, physical attraction and the allure of the unknown are definitely factors, but what keeps them coming back to each other is the fact that despite their many differences, they've come to admire certain traits in each other. Lin, who tried to follow in her mother's footsteps, appreciates Zolt's fearless independence and the fact that he broke away from the Agni Kais—all that he ever knew—to take a chance and form the Triple Threats. And Zolt, who walked away from Sola's legacy, admires Lin's steadfastness—the way she works tirelessly from within to create the kind of change she wants on the police force and in the city as a whole. In some ways, they're so different that they balance each other out. Of course, neither one of them would ever admit this. If someone asked them, they'd say it was the sex and the banter that kept them coming back.

19. How are they at parties or gatherings?

It depends entirely on who's hosting the event and what the guest list looks like. If the stars align and there's actually a party that Lin wants to attend (maybe one of Izumi's), they're quite fun as a couple. Zolt is magnetic in social settings—chatting up and charming nearly everyone he sees, mixing cocktails and telling wild stories. Lin is a lot more low key. She likes to watch him, sipping her drink casually and chiming in every now and then with a well-timed quip. Even though their social batteries are drastically different, about an hour and a half into the event, they'll be off in some corner, bantering as always and stealing a kiss or two.

28. Who takes the longest getting ready to leave?

It only takes Lin around ten minutes to get ready to go most places—maybe twenty if it's a formal event or she feels like doing something different with her hair. Zolt takes longer by far because the man has a truly excessive amount of clothes to choose from. Add in the fact that he's the type to put on a perfectly pressed three piece suit just to go to the store, and our poor Lin is typically waiting upwards of forty-five minutes for him to get ready. As their relationship progressed, Lin has learned to not even get off the couch until he's over a half hour into his process.

Favorite female character? Ilia Penny Pyrrha Ruby Nora(!!!!) Emerald Weiss and most of all… maria😔she’s so fucking funny i loved her energy v6. Further explanations, Ilia has an adorable design, great voice actor and decent enough representation. Nora’s timeskip design was unmatched and she’s very quotable, plus her personality reminds me of one of my close friends irl. Ruby’s struggles in V9 (until they fucked that up) really hit with me as I’d gone through something very similar, and Penny… Penny just makes me happy. What they did with her makes me angry, but Penny makes me smile. :D

Favorite male character? I got a couple but at the moment it’s tied by Sun and Roman. Sun has fun energy and Roman is himself and iconic. Others are: James is hot and so is the bad bird BF he got by being autistic. Mercury is cool for the 5 seconds of screentime he gets every volume now. Tyrian and Watts got impeccable swag and the 5 hour long make out scene between the two of them was very interesting. Adam is cathartic and fun as hell to write my little meow meow. Jaune is best when he’s just a little loser dork, and Ren is very pretty.

Favorite Volume? Surprise surprise, Volume 3. I fucking love tournament arcs. I. Love. Tournament. Arcs.

Favorite Episode? That whole Apathy Arc in V6!!! Great horror in my opinion. I wish they’d show off more creative Grimm like that again. And as a side note, V6 is just… the best looking volume.

Favorite cast member? If they count, Jeff and Casey!! SUCH good music.

Favorite ship? *cracks knuckles* Freezerburn, Catmeleon, Monochrome, Schne//ekos, Pussy Magnet Purrah, Greek fire, nuts and dolts, Bees Schnees, Khali, Spicecream, Seamonkeys, Emercury, If there’s one between Ilia and Ruby put it here, Ginger Snaps, Arctic Winter, Silver Lotus, *looks at writings on my palm* Snow pines, Ironqrow, James x Oz, Crimsun, Strawbana, Nuts and Volts, and Rosebird. To name a few. Some might not be my favorites, these are just ones I like/like in concept. :) Character I’d die defending? Sienna fucking Khan. The whole White Fang, honestly. I do think protesting through violence against your oppressors is very swag and real actually. Plus she’s hot.

A character I can’t sympathize with? Uhhhhhh…… SALEM!!!!!!!!!! Cinder too ish but Salem mostly. Like, I feel a TINY bit bad, only because the gods are undeniably awful garbage horrible terrible. She still sucks though.

A character I grew to love? …Adam. I did not give a single shit about his decently attractive redhead ass until that reveal and his death in V6. He has become my blorbo; my skrunkly. My cringefail loser, my girly pop. Engrained within my brain like a silly silly worm. He’s fun to draw. Fun to write. REALLY fun to write. I can put him in so many situations. So many bittersweet, melancholic situations. And in so many outfits.

My Anti-otp? Ive got a couple.

Bumbl//Bee. Not my thing. Could have been, had they not continually tried making “Only disabled main character losing her arm” something “romantic” as well as paralleling said character to her partner’s… um… ex abuser? Hello?

Embe//rald. Fuck Abusive ships.

Taura//donna. Fuck Abusive ships.

Frostbite. This one is actually one of my least favorite ships, as it is essentially a pairing between the ex-racist ex-heiress of a huge company to the in universe minority said company enslaved and branded while he was a child. Plus, again. Fuck. Abusive. Ships.

(bonus answer: She's also a complete and utter dork) Blake: Her reckless caring, even if it's to her own detriment. her empathy and her optimism As a couple: Their mutual support for each other and their understanding of what the other needs, their gentleness and softness with each other and their humor/playfulness.

Yang: It's not so much a headcanon as reading the subtext in the show, but she's extremely intelligent and knowledgeable in mechanical engineering and can do field repairs on her arm or any vehicles Blake: She's a published author under a pseudonym and has written some popular books of poetry and a compilation of short stories. As a couple: One of their favorite things to do when no one is around is napping together, curled up in each other's arms.

What was the point that you think they started to develop romantic feelings for each other? While I think there was a mutual attraction and they became friends quickly. I think Burning The Candle/the dance was the turning point. Even if I think neither of them quite got it yet.

How do they rank among your OTPs from other fandoms? (and who are your top three OTPs?)

Absolutely, unequivocally number one. Other OTPs - Femshep/Liara (Mass Effect) Korrasami (LoK) Touko/Yuu (Bloom Into You) Summer (Solaris) /Amy (Crimson) from @anarchistauthor's brilliant "Shattered Paragon" novel.

Even though the Bees were REALLY slow-burn I have to admit I'm impatient and I'm a sucker for soulmates/instant attraction Finally, who do you think is hotter/who would you want to date?

Yang is my favorite character in RWBY, always has been and I think she's just stunningly beautiful and has such a forceful, magnetic personality that I would totally just swoon. BUT Blake is SO a close second, she's no less beautiful, and has a gentleness and sweetness that is adorable. Thanks for this anon, it was a lot of fun! Ok, so hear me out...

To preface this, Percabeth is my OTP (well one of them...). I would not change anything about their relationship. However, if, gods forbid, something were to happen to Percy, or they were in an AU where Percy wasn't in the picture, I think Annabeth and Piper would make an EXCELLENT couple.

The fact that they represent two apparently opposing facets of humanity (ie wisdom and gut feeling, logic and love, etc), is VERY reminiscent of Psyche and Eros/Cupid in the original myths.

They clearly have a great rapport and their seemingly opposing powers work SO WELL TOGETHER once they find a way to 'stop the magnets' repelling each other, as it were. Their friendship in HoO is woefully undeveloped, but from what little we see, mostly in the Temple of Fear in BoO. Piper comforts Annabeth about the major trauma she and Percy suffered in Tartarus. Annabeth seems to feel comfortable talking to Piper, who in turn helps her deal with the emotions rather than shutting them out.

When they got to the Temple, the flames were entirely illogical, with no set pattern or intensity, so Annabeth is at a loss. As Piper says, "It isn't rational... It's emotional". The only way forward is to jump based on a rash decision and 'illogical' timing. And she made it. Naturally, at this point Annabeth thought she was stupid.

With the temple amplifying their worst fears and memories, Annabeth was paralysed. Clearly she was re-living Tartarus, so Piper had to take the lead. Piper's voice alone brought Annabeth back to reality. She insisted they needed a plan. But Piper disagreed. She pulled them into a dark corridor, and let her emotions guide them. Annabeth is angry, because of her experience in the House of Night, and she thinks a plan would be better. The giant tells them that he is the breaker of plans; that "nothing goes right in [his] presence".

And, of course, the moment that started it all for Pipabeth shippers:

"Piper cupped her friend's face. She pulled Annabeth forward until their foreheads touched. Through her fingertips, she could feel Annabeth's rapid pulse. 'Fear cant be reasoned with. Neither can hate. They're like love. They're almost identical emotions...'"

I get more than just best friend feelings from that...

Charmspeak also is apparently only effective on people attracted to you. And Annabeth is affected by it.

Plus, this may just be a personal feeling, but I get MAJOR bi-vibes from Annabeth, and Piper is confirmed sapphic as of ToA.

TL;DR If Annabeth and Percy were not an option in terms of romantic pairings, Pipabeth would be another brilliant option. The dichotomy between their parents and their powers might have caused tension between them, but instead, they work together wonderfully.

1. In another universe, I could see going for this in a GL way (no, not in a Turkish show of course, and in any event I am rabid for the official OTP, but it’s an interesting concept of a what-if.)

2. I still cannot believe they had Efnan watch Aziz bang Dilruba back way when and now she’s remembering it while D is in their house. That’s an image that would 100% be burned into my retina if it involved anyone I know, let alone my man and his ex back before we hooked up. (At least I guess Efnan knows exactly what she’s buying? Hmm.)

3. Oh Pierre, you 100% want to chase and seduce(or coerce into bed) a beautiful woman young enough to be your granddaughter for revenge only, to get back at Aziz because his daddy and your wife bumped uglies. Fully duty, zero pleasure, I am sure! Such a hardship for you!

Unfortunately for you, coerce is about the only way that would work because have you seen Murat Yildirim in period clothes? Only an insane blind person would pick you instead. But coerce might not go so well either as your son found out (or not, since he was shot too dead to find anything.)

PS Aziz’s dad must have had a foot-long **** - he really was not an attractive man in the least, looking like a shriveled up mushroom, yet he managed to keep his wife, Kenan’s mom and Pierre’s wife as his women? Three? For a dude who looked like wind would knock him over?

This man was apparently a sex machine. Maybe he knew tricks with his fancy mustache? Or the shine of his head had magnetic properties? Or maybe he really did have a giant carpet in his pants.

What are your favorite Pyrrha ships and why?

Schneekos/North Pole

C'est magnifique. The OTP of OTPs, Pyrrha and Weiss are totally perfect for each other. They have a lot in common — they're both under a ton of pressure from without and within, to the extent that anything less than perfection is a failure. They're both constantly in the public eye, never able to really let down their guard. They're both sought after for their beauty and fame, and in Weiss' case fortune.

At the same time though, they have their differences. Aesthetically of course their colours are different, they fight in very different ways, and they have both the tall/short and athletic/slender dichotomies going. Pyrrha is gentle and rather quiet, while Weiss is bossy and insistent (but nevertheless caring). Despite sharing a lot with the public eye and such, Pyrrha comes from the common people and earned her fame entirely through her own talent and hard work whereas Weiss — albeit greatly talented and dedicated herself — was born into hers.

They just complement each other so well, with just the right amount of similarities and differences. They've been my top ship literally since the first time I saw them and show no sign of cooling off any time soon.

Pyrruby/Milk & Cereal

This gets some of the same points as Schneekos, with the size differences and whatnot, and some similarities in Pyrrha and Ruby both being prodigies, sharing the red colour in their designs, both being somewhat shy and socially awkward, and both having the self-sacrificing hero thing going on.

They're very cute together!

So first off, THIS IS ONLY FOR FANON, NON-MASS-MURDEROUS CINDER. I only ship show!Cinder with a slow and painful death. Okay, so with that out of the way...

Depending on the writer, this can be either enemies to lovers or rivals to lovers, but either way you have the sultry, dangerous one and the sweet, heroic one drawn, both great fighters, both determined in their own goals, inexorably drawn together by a powerful, primal attraction. Bonus points if the aura transfer goes through so they're each a half-Maiden and their souls are literally calling out to each other.

This is the sexy ship to beat. It even outdoes Schneekos on that point, but where Schneekos is super wholesome and healthy this one just drips angst and pain and poison.

Purrha

These two don't have much material to work with, but I think they could have a really great, interesting dynamic. You have Blake as the troubled girl with demons in her past who thinks she's too damaged and/or has done too much bad to deserve happiness, and Pyrrha as her angel that doesn't care about that and loves her just the same.

It's good stuff, just too bad there's not much out there for them.

Magnetic Attraction

This one's really cute, particularly for a revived Pyrrha. Two cinnamon rolls who've died and come back — nearly the only people in the world to have had that experience — just being there for each other, being adorable beacons of pure goodness.

The first time I see Yvette was on Wrath season 1 I see a manipulative,spiteful and bitter woman who was unable to let go of her past but while playing on Fire Emblem Three houses I read those comment on Edelgard(by the way if you love in slightest way Yvette YOU WILL LOVE EDELGARD!):Edelgard is dislike not because of her actions,not because of what she does or doesn't but because she is a very complex that can easily misunderstoond so 3/4 people are willfully ignorant or just not interested in looking closer. They accept what Rhea tells them as facts instead to take a lens and analyze Edelgard(By the way Edelgard x Fbyleth are my OTP!) since the biggest barrier most fans not wanting to feel like they have “chosen wrong” and to feel they are righteous and unbiased. So I've decide to give Yvette a try after I've finished Wrath s1(since it bored me,don't worry after Yvette I'll do Wrath reaction) and I like her since to quote her she is a very complex character:

At first a she see a cute innocent woman whom she can't help herself but teasing mc and suggest to not esitate and be embarrassed by her desire to reach for what(Hotness,flirtation🤤😏) but when mc chase her to say hello and ask her name but she mistake Yvette and Vinca situation being captured by mafias(we're on Las Vegas after all) go to her rescue and inadvertently caught her in the act to punish a demon for his failure(capture Vuzgamad ? Innocent and good civilian caught in the crossfire ? I dunno😅) leaving Yvette stunned and out of control for the first time ever(vulnerability) so she forced to put an Indy ploy* to give mc a way out by saying she's illusion and mc caught them in the middle and she gifted with a ticket both as apologize for the scare and thanks for her goodness and bravery for her will to rescue a stranger from thugs if necessary(and the secret hope to meet MC again[showing both her soft and good side not wanting mc being caught in a mess simply she saw women in need of rescue] and vulnerabity wanting to meet her as woman not as sin assassin),

so we see at the deadly sin show and Vinca and Lazareth caught a true jerk that deserve punishment (he steal funds for poor and buy cars you jerk!),she show me both her cynism and ruthless in try to punish by ask the public how to punish him and hyped them up their greedness for punishment but when mc show up and rescue the jerk by taking his place Yvette is both surprise and elated to see her again(ruthless,cruel and punisher of evil; sweetness,vulnerabity and softness for good people and Cripples, Bastards, and Broken Things and anyone in need this is why even at her worst she keep up with her duty*) she and mc and enjoy for the first time the show(sparkling the light that Yvette believe to have to have lost in the darkness that is her life and starting to fall in love with MC)

Then at date she talk with a demon who work for her but since mc has no clue about demon,assassin and crazy stuff she mistaken Yvette for a Mafia woman and the demon for a henchwoman and after mc surprised her with bravery,intelligence and being cute(showing Yvette ruthless,darkness to the demon and the protective,sweet,soft and good side to MC by keeping her safe and good).

After the dinner in which Yvette introduces mc to her crazy world by gifting her "The Sight" and we her philosophy and how she keeps the world safe from being enslaved by demons again:

Keep it away from the innocent,cripples, bastards, and broken things by keep the bad and the evil on thigh leash! Like the ouroboros.

Since there is no future for demons or they work for protect humans with her or they die and a less demon who can harm or worst kill a human really poetic and byronic(By the way she meant Vuzgamad with the demon currently work for)

and show her protective side by scolding Vinca given she was mean to MC since Day 1* and remind her and us reader that MC is woman whom she and will can do everything

and more important she can think for herself(showing how well she read people) and apologize for the rough evening and the fact that while Yvette is used to this Mad Wonderland but MC not so Vinca reveal to mc that Yvette she likes her(so Vinca being a shipper and show us that her feelings for mc are slowly became genuine:like,the need to see her) and to give Yvette a try!

So when Vuzgamad appear to threaten to kill her because since Yvette meet mc,she slowly and surely reawakened her dying light,love and hope so Yvette goes ballistic on her and while protect mc with all her heart and we know another side of her bitterness,mystery,self-loathing and self-hatred and doesn't believe that she deserve MC(Her light,her love her everything....ad I'm going fast forward again😂) and after they escaped Vuzgamad she promise to show the woman behind the illusion and after the while ordeal Yvette show us again her good and soft side by checked and fretting over mc ad blamed herself about Vuzgamad,despite that Vuzgamad is absolutely unpredictable and fiercily promise mc that she will always protect mc and when MC ask her to come with her to check on Joyce(mc mother) and she does keep her word and answer was going on Yvette

MC:What Vuzgamad meant she made you?

This....is the first time she's genuinely broken,hurt like a lost puppy both MC and me wish to hug her and lash out at everyone who wish to harm her

Yvette:I have ... history with demons since I was little...

MC:did you seek them?

Yvette then makes an expression of a kicked pup 😥

I never seeked evil😡.... they found me😥 and since then it nevel left me and I'm at war,deal with it every day,I have to survive(I Never Asked For This...*)

So when Yvette see MC and Joyce being a heartwarming family❤ she's overwhelmed by all of this and show us the broken,lonely who have nothing but despair and bitterness thanks to Vuzgamad

That she run away from all of this.

Either way, the initial plan has failed, and now the character is forced to come up with a new plan on the fly with no time to prepare or think about the consequences.(Which for a crazy prepared,100% in control and all woman Yvette is an out-of-character is a serious business!)

Unacceptable

When past loves end tragically, and future loves want a chance, how does it all work out for Chloe.

(NOTE: Now Chloe got engaged during the Apocalypse AU episode and hearing that he (Carlo Marks) was returning, had me pretty excited and hyped up. Also I don't know why but somehow a group of us ended up calling him George for some reason. Anyhow, so this was written before I watched the Warrior episode so, Steven, as he's called here, is a real adult - no kid, no magic. However later in the actual show we find out about the kid catastrophe and that felt like a kick in the gut after what the writers did to Chlavis. Yeah my OTP got dragged through the mud. Good times huh?

To the Chlollie fans - I love you guys and I love your enthusiasm over your ship. I'm not a shipper (romantically that is, more like Teammates - Professionals, etc) and I had my heart set on Chloe/George after Chloe/Davis).

Chloe Sullivan had woken another morning to find that she was yet again, alone.

Some random witchy woman named Saunders and her minion Petersen had told her that her life would be so wonderful.. That her arc overreaching and into the depths of inspiration.

She did live an interesting life. A life that was full of her investigative endeavours, requited and unrequited loves, death threats, matyrdom, sacrifices, hero-based co-ordinations and humanitarian services.

She remembered it was just yesterday they both professed their love and there she was backing away, needing space.

She had an answer, or at least she thought she did.

Oliver Queen.

When she first met him, she would literally crush on him in her head. She hoped her best friend Clark (first love gotten over) wouldn't use his x-ray vision to see into her mind. He was just WOW and unavailable. But the novelty had worn off - he was unavailable and belonged in the circle of the rich and famous - a place she had no need to be.

But all the shallow playboy and business deals were just a front. The guy was all green and hero. He was courageous with absolutely high moral standards, protecting others that couldn't defend themselves. Clark was like that too.

Maybe that's why she loved both of them. Except that Oliver she didn't feel for until he went through all the highs and lows of his morally challenged year. She had pulled him out of it with almost murderous consequences yet in the back of her mind, despite his gratitude she felt a bit off.

But she felt so off that it became normal and she buried herself in her work. She told herself that she and Oliver were teammates, that he was still pining after her cousin Lois and was the boytoy of Tess Mercer.

For God's sakes she was still getting over J*mmy and she finally admitted it - Davis.

She had gotten up from bed and opened her little treasure chest. No fools gold in here except memories. She looked at J*mmy's ring and remembered how panicked he looked when he had proposed. But even Sinatra couldn't save them from the constant tensions that she thought was all her fault.

She knew the relationship was flawed and just when she was letting go of Clark and holding on to J*mmy, Davis came along. She had to avert her eyes and tell herself that the attraction was nothing more than a magnetic pull to his gorgeous personality, sweetness and self sacrificing nature. She would take J*mmy, the unresolved faults of their relationship and all, and make it work.

But it couldn't work and no matter how much J*mmy lashed out at Davis she knew that the turbulence of their relationship had started way before. She and J*mmy were on and off, on and off until the whole system crashed.

She found herself absentmindedly holding the stick that remained of the chocolate lollipop heart Davis had given her when they decided to load up the car and never look back. She told herself she was leaving her life behind her to protect Clark but even she knew it wasn't true. She wanted to protect him too from the life he chose not to have but had anyway. She knew he tried everything and that she was his last hope. She was in love with him. Why she took so long to admit it, she didn't know but now it was too late to fix anything.

So while Clark was out playing house with Lois she buried herself in her work. Oliver would be her companion but not her confidant. Not yet anyways.

And just when she thought the sky was falling - well a smaller toy version of Saturn and yet large enough to give her brain damage was about to drop from the ceiling - there alights Steven who dressed as Warrior Angel swoops down and saves the day. Except that he wasn't a real superhero (some other witchy woman, that same witchy woman who hexed her and turned her into Lois, made him a guy with powers). But Chloe wasn't discriminating, he did save her life.

Their friendship started slowly and she could see in him a little bit of Clark, a bit of Davis and a bit of J*mmy. He was like Clark or who Clark used to be because she remembered how much he valued his family. Clark was adopted and Steven's dad had died when he was 2 and his mom remarried when he was 18 and off to college. He was like Davis because he was a magnet to the underdog - although Davis was a paramedic, he was a cop and yet they were both drawn to the areas where people were outcasted from society and got no help. Also he dressed like Davis too. Plus like J*mmy he was cute. Okay, he was damn cute.

So two years passed and she and Steven were getting serious. But she couldn't tell what was up with Oliver. She wanted to tell him deal with it - dammit - she sees him more that she sees Steven. They work together, tease, argue, makeup, crack jokes at each others expense. Chloe couldn't remember the last time she laughed. Oliver was full of himself and full of anecdotes that she didn't even know he had. Maybe the absence of Clark in her life brought that out in him. But she still felt saddened by his absence.

But she started seeing the looks - if she was unreadable, Oliver was an open book. She saw the smiles when she came to work early or stayed overtime. The frowns when she left or mentioned Steven. Then she put her foot down and told him to grow up. His response was to shrug it off.

Then later that week Steven had asked her to meet him at the corner of Brine and Paxton and just when she was about to turn the corner Oliver appears. She just thought it was coincidental that he was there at the same time. He needed to talk. She said okay and listened.

Chloe felt she needed an extra pair of ears or Clark's brain power. Oliver's words were coming a mile a minute and yet she understood every single one. He knew her for almost a decade - they knew where they were and how far they came. He admitted that you never miss the things you love until you lose them and he knew he was losing her. She didn't understand what he meant until he decided to grasp at the last straw and kiss her.

Chloe broke away, literally supersped or wished she did, around the corner and bumped into Steven. She couldn't catch her breath and he was like honeywhat'swrong and she joked that he knocked the wind out of her.

Fast forward to later that day and they were back at her apartment. Steven had pulled out all the stops. Dinner, candlelight and his full attention. He was getting serious - it was two years and he felt that the intensity of their relationship meant something. He knew other people would have roles in her life and he wasn't insecure enough to let that bother him. He felt she was so blessed that she had people depending on her.

Steven had gotten down on his knees and proposed and Chloe couldn't answer. But Steven was in no hurry, wasn't going to push. He knew that so much had happened to her in so little time but he wanted her to know he would always be there for her. Chloe was now holding Steven's engagement ring that he told her to keep. It was gold and simple. She didn't get the time to answer because time had sped past and stolen him away from her. She remembered that night he proposed. After he left she just crawled into bed on her side, unable to sleep while replaying Oliver's words over and over in her head.

Yet she was back at work and Oliver was there apologetic and saying that he shouldn't have come on too strong. Chloe told him that maybe it was time he started really speaking his mind but for now they should get to work.

Before they both knew it, Oliver was already donning his Green Arrow suit and she was in Watchtower mode co-ordinating the JLA's every move. Apparently a gang had taken over a bank and JLA was in position. Then the cops came and Chloe could only think Steven!

The JLA knew they had to be careful since the cops thought they were working alone to get the criminals out and behind bars. And it was going well until Chloe heard Oliver exclaim.

BOMB.

Now Chloe was watching two headstones that she demanded were side by side. She had directed her attention before to the headstone of J*mmy Olsen and one erected as a memory headstone for Davis. But they were not side by side because even in death she knew the sad significance of the whole situation.

She heard it all - Oliver and Steven had worked together on the situation and while they saved everyone they couldn't escape.

Chloe held in her hand Oliver's mask and all she could think was hero. Steven's ring was on her finger and all she could think of was her love now lost.

She closed the chest and realised how fucked up her life was. It was damn unacceptable and she wasn't going to let it get the last word.

Reading a fic that paired half my otp with someone else and they have issues.... This wouldn't have happened with my otp but okay

Like. If it was my otp they would have immediately fallen in love bc they're magnetically attracted to each other and are soulmates destined to end up together in every lifetime and also when they look at each other the rest of the world disappears. But this ship genuinely dislike each other without even being funny about it. They're not attracted to each other. Sucks to suck do better

5. What’s the one personality trait that most attracts them to each other? What’s the one physical trait that most attracts them to each other?

-Oh, it's hella cliche for this show, but their sense of humor! They speak the same language in that realm, generational references aside, and they can make each other laugh (including with jokes that other people would definitely find, at best, not funny). IMO, that combined with the fact that they also know how to get under each other's skin so thoroughly is what keeps drawing them back into one another's orbit....like too-strong magnets that know there's something right about the other one, some connection there to fly to, but that end up flying at each other hard enough to hurt again and again and again

Physically, oh hmm, I feel like for Deborah it's Ava's smile/laughter (gross, cliche, I know) BUT it's indicative of a change in Ava--she's no longer pretending to be all cool and detached and better than the "hacky" comedy she assumed was all Deborah could do; instead, she's opened herself up to seeing what I think Deborah thinks of as the best part of herself. And for Ava, I think it's Deborah's hair (natural, though she's def got some favorite wigs) or eyes because in the "sex-ish dream" she's with a Deborah who's stripped totally bare of the stage persona, much like she is as well in some of their moments of connection (like in New Eyes). (Though I think if asked Ava would say it's the legs, 100%)

6. Is their love blind or accepting? Do they overlook each others flaws and put each other on a pedestal, or are they aware of the flaws each other holds?

-Oh, no overlooking flaws here. They saw each other's worst sides before they ever even got to tolerating each other as people haha! But in all seriousness, I think we see even in the last 2 episodes of the season, the ways they can both wound each other deeply come to the fore again, and yet--AND YET--they still are there for each other in the ways that matter. Deborah wasn't gonna let Ava show up to that funeral feeling utterly forsaken, and Ava isn't about to let Deborah take this new act (and all the vulnerabilities and hurts it dredges up) on tour without her.

11. What’s the biggest sacrifice they’ve made for each other?

-Thinking canonically here (because holy shit an OTP that actually has SO MUCH already there in is just wild): Ava turned down what was once her dream job, which definitely would have come with more money, prestige, and future opportunities, because she knew she'd have to betray Deborah over it. Even with absolutely zero assurances of future employment with Deborah, she was willing to stake it all on the line to defend Deborah's honor and comedic integrity. [Insert the 'and i just think that's neat' gif]

I think the fact that Deborah broke all of her rules (never forgive, never forget, no funerals, etc.) for Ava is big, but doesn't feel like a sacrifice so much as a willingness to change. What does feel like a sacrifice, though, is her choice to put her legacy on the line for a show that Ava helped create as inspiration, co-writer, and the final push at the end. I adore Jean Smart's performance for the full final episode of S1, but there was something so raw in the way the hurt and anger mingle during their final big fight when Deborah points out that it's all a job for Ava, but it's her life. And even with all that, she opens Ava's gift and decides to sacrifice the easiness that comes with a sure thing for the uncertainty of this new act.
