... and the association of Vic with Beckett...
There's this thing about associating a woman with a man. Whatever happens, there is like a transference of hate to the woman and love to the man.
Men already get less hate doing something worse than women and more love when doing something minimally decent. The way the narratives are framed on the show don't help.
The choice to - make Maya give Beckett the bottle shifted the blame to her, absolving him. Somehow to some, she became the worst person on the show and whatever she did was her personal unique moral failings. Beckett's long list of poor choices made throughout his captaincy that endangered himself, his team n civilians... The resolution was merely his voluntary stint at rehab. Oh and quietly demoted. No mention of his wrongdoings again. Everyone's just fine with him already. Just like how they accepted his bad behavior right from the start.
The choice to - make Vic to not notice maya's distress and say those words about her, a longtime friend and teammate while being hyper aware of Beckett's state and being especially empathetic towards him.
I hope the speculation isn't true. It'll be a disservice to Vic as a character. It's the use of a well-liked female character to redeem a disliked male character.
On a show where already
... the men don't really need to work on themselves - the characters around them simply lower their standards to accommodate.
... toxic masculinity is conflated with addiction/ mental health issues,
... the men's addiction and wrongdoings - related or not to the addiction, are systemic issues - of the healthcare system failing Sullivan or an inter-generational alcohol problem trapping Beckett
I'm all for the empathy for the struggle with addiction n underlying issues but against using them as excuses to not hold people accountable for bad behavior.

Nah I'm sorry, I know what they're trying to do here but the old costumes were replaced for a reason.

It's interesting that there are a variety of incredibly good and convincing reasons to go vegetarian - Health benefits, significantly lower environmental impact, less financial cost, just to name a few, but in their rhetoric, I have seen vegans use... literally none of them. Nah they just default to "it is bad to hurt the animals :(" and are shocked when that doesn't convince a literal super-apex predator.

hi im back from the dead to quickly give my immediate thoughts about ghostbusters: frozen empire, so spoilers under the cut.
i feel a little disappointed that Trevor, Podcast and Lucky arent really heavily involved aside from plot convenience. dont get me wrong I and everybody's grandmother loves paul rudd and the whole family arc thing but idk. I was expecting the whole gang to be up in arms while the older-generation takes a back seat.
i still need to gather my thoughts about it tbh, but overall enjoyable movie

This is a probably gonna be a 'hot take' but it really bugs me in the Friday the 13th movies when they're more scared of Jason when his mask has been knocked off. I feel like it's abelism because like they become more scared when his mask is off then when it's on. Jason was killed because if abelism as a child and it bugs me that they still incorporate said abelism. Yes this will probably be a hot take or whatever but that's just how I see it. I personally think he's cute even with his mask off because big shock I don't look at him with an abelist lens.

Stealing this and making my own post because I disagree with OP and want to share my take without making their post about me
Tumblr media
I am just disappointed. I know a lot of people say it is better because you get it faster and you would die if you had to wait but nothing is more fun then collectively pulling our hair out as we all wait for the next episode
Also, when things get released all at one, I actually have to avoid the internet like a plague. I have work. I work 35+ a week. I can’t just on a random day drop everything and watch like 10+ hrs of content in one sitting.
Idk, I understand binging shows and it’s fun yes. But you can binge shows at any time. If the shows are released all at once, then you can never experience weekly episode releases.
Anyways, Byler endgame and I will be excited to freak out with all of you

I'm Team Black but also damn if I don't look at Alicent with love, kindness, and understanding in my eyes, and fight anyone who utters the words "Alicent is the villain."

I hate when characters especially heroes get demonized for not liking Jason when he was literally going around slaughtering people or beating tf out of them and don’t even say it was just innocents because it was not

Ooo how about number 21 for the canon ask game please 🥰?
choose violence ask game
thank you!!
21. part of canon you think is overhyped:
okay, that's a hot take but people overpraise the vermillions too much in my opinion even though they're pretty uninteresting in almost every way comparing to the silva family... magic? all fire or plants used blandly. personality? perfect flawless ideal people who do no wrong. drama? none. their rules? just being there looking cool and baddass (main family) or elegant and sweet (branch family). It makes sense for them to be likeable and popular but I don't get the hype behind them... my boy leopold had a lot of potential that was swept under the rag unfortunetly :(
(nothing against their fans, by the way, because I got why a fan would be hyped for his favorite character, but as a neutral who's there for an exciting story and as far as canon goes, I'm always more hyped for more silva family content or fights whether it's the fan favorites noelle and nozel or everyone's most despised characters solid and nebra).

I wish people would stop with the aggressive guilt-tripping and "if you don't watch 10 sec of this video you're a bad person" bullshit. I'm so sick of seeing it.
It's just people commanding you to use the TikTok filters for Palestine, Congo, etc and it gives the same vibe as those annoying ass Christian Facebook memes.
"Share this picture to show everyone on your page that you love Jesus!"
It's just performative activism. Especially when the video isn't even informative, it's just bitching about people with "boycott fatigue", which no one but the reactionary TikTok activists is even talking about.

Idk why they chose to put Crazy ahead at the very beginning of the show, like we don’t really know anything abt Rusty yet. I think Engine of Love would have been better but whatever
My main issue with the update isn’t the content, it’s the placement of it. I mean I also don’t like that they changed pink Pearly but ehh whatever

If handcams are where you draw the line, then does that mean you don't consider THE KSon Souchou a "real" vtuber?
Kson is a Grey area for me. I never even said I dont consider them actual vtubers, just that I don't like those types. I acknowledge her contributions to the community, but if we're being honest here, she didn't do it as "Kson". As obvious as it might of been who she was before, her vtuber identity and alt identity where she shows her face were still kept separate at that time.

You know, I love Jadzia and Ezri, but *my god* do episodes about the Trill, as a species, tend to be boring.
