i hate how when i bring up how taylor dated a known racist/misogynist and then one year later shat on her fans for calling her out about it swifties say, "she was going through a manic phase!!! she was literally going insane she says so in the opening poem 🙄 besides this song was written like a year ago" wow maybe she should learn to self edit then! i would be more willing to believe you're not racist if you, i don't know, condemned matty instead of writing songs about how you jerked off to him?

The fact that NONE of the celebrities at the golden globes spoke about Palestine/gaza,speaks volumes. But they claimed to care about it on their socials.

This is what a lot of the loudest "activists" who claim to support a certain cause do these days. I say claim, because they do nothing good for the cause (and sometimes only harm it) while also harming other people who are already suffering.

tw: white supremacy, white fragility, assault mention aka being coughed on like I’m trash, other exhausting nonsense.
You can color your hair rainbows all you want to, wear all kinds of pins with “black lives matter”, and “equality” and “fuck the police”, “down with the system” or whatever the fuck with all the rainbow socks and all that shit, but if you’re still holding onto your white supremacist ideals and behavior, and you’re going out of your way to treat black people like shit (like this white blue-haired mf who coughed in my direction as soon as they got close to me, I will never forget that.), if you continue to silence black voices, and other marginalized voices, and cry white tears when you’re confronted, and forced to examine your whiteness, if you immediately jump to defending your behavior and hiding behind your white fragility, fuck you and fuck all those fake ass pins that you don’t fucking believe in. It is a fucking COSTUME. A PERFORMANCE. And I cannot STAND performative activism!!!

Leftism and inclusion leaving y'all's bodies as soon as medium to high support needs autistic people and people with bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, personality disorders, any mental illness that makes you uncomfortable start asking to be treated with humanity and decency.

schools, teachers, every educator in the world needs to understand that no amount of lgbtq posters in the hallways or speeches about inclusion and safety will make a trans student feel safe if they:
continue to misgender the student, no matter how many times they've been corrected.
never take transphobic abuse from other students (AND TEACHERS) seriously
i am DONE with performative activism

Personally, I can't help but see Taylor Swift's actions as a cynical attempt at PR becos this is coming right after pro-Palestinian activists called her out for having her Eras movie be screened in Tel Aviv and the backlash against her being Time's 2023 Person of the Year. And this isnt the first time, remember when Taylor Swift collabed with Ice Spice after what her ex-boyfriend Matt Healy said about Ice Spice was given renewed attention as a result of Swift's relationship with him.
And then, there's also my frustrations with fans centering their celebrity faves in progressive/social justice movements (seeing Swifities praise TS instead of Ramy Youseff who organized the damn event and is actually more at risk for getting blacklisted by virtue of being an Arab Muslim man who is vocally pro-Palestine and is an up-and-comer). There's an element of tokenization when fans find out their fave (supposedly) supports certain progressive/radical/social justice causes, it becomes a way for fans to tout as evidence of the morality of their fave and by extension, themselves for supporting the celebrity.

Where is the same energy for Kanye West?
You know, the man who literally said he loved H*tler and other fucked up stuff?
As a jew, I am so tired of this performative act. People don’t really care about antisemitism. They just want to bully women. I do not see people post about Kanye West, at all. Sure, there used to be some memes on the internet but that’s it. And memes make the whole issue with Kanye West…weirdly unserious? Where is the same energy for actual nazis? The ones who meet up every other week in a public meeting house, ones who claim mandatory vaccines are the same as the Shoah, the ones with nazi symbols tattooed on them, the ones who gang up and beat up people in the street for fun, the ones who proudly yell H*il H*tler, the ones who shoot up synagogues…
People claim to care about jews but they choose this easy form of “activism”, which is bullying a woman for writing about goblins. In my opinion, this is just lazy. If you really care that much about standing up for jewish people, you should invest your energy in something else.

I wonder how much of the performative activism with the whole i/p trashfire comes from gen Z's only experience with activism be through lgbtq spaces.
think about it, queer activism is about normalising lgbtq themes in real life and in media, it's about showing the world "we're here, we exist, and we're normal." that's why putting rainbows in your username is good, that's why drawing your favorite blorbos with queer flags is good, that's why talking about queer people is good.
the goal with queer activism is exposure and normalisation, the goal is for queer people to be seen as equal and normal, the goal is positivity.
what's the goal with the free Palestine movement? to bring awareness to the public's eye? the public is already very much aware of the situation. the goal should be helping their cause and to stop their suffering. what are you gaining by using watermelon filters and drawing cartoon characters holding Palestinian flags? how is that helping the starving and dead? how is it helping the ones trying to escape?
our generation is so used to bringing awareness without actually doing anything, because they're used to awareness being the only goal. awareness does nothing in this situation, it only brings harm by making every corner of the internet focused on politics, unsafe for people who are triggered by war, and hides other, bigger atrocities happening right now in other countries by overexposing a singular war.
people are already aware enough about what's happening in Palestine, it's time you do something about it.

In many ways, holding each other accountable has come to mean punishing each other. Sometimes it feels like we’re all competing on a hardcore game show, trying to knock each other down to be crowned the movement’s Best Activist.
It starts from a good place – we want to diminish the harm of oppressive behavior. We’re all feeling the toll of daily oppression, and when we’re around other people who are woke enough to recognize this, we want to hold each other to a higher standard.
And we absolutely should be able to influence each other to be better. This helps our communities grow together, adds to our positive influence on the world around us, and helps each of us build the safe spaces we deserve.
But I want to focus on a specific type of holding each other accountable that shows up when we’re acting not just out of love for ourselves and our communities, but out of fear and pain.
It’s “performing activism” – when we’re more worried about how we look to other activists than our larger vision of what we’re trying to build together.
Because we’re trying to build a more just world, right? One where we treat each other with respect, and have liberation instead of cycles of oppressive violence.
But sometimes we forget about that part, and in standing against oppression, we end up replicating the same harmful cycles.
definitely a worth going through the list esp for our non-racialized/white allies!

No words can describe how much I loathe charlaten academic Norman Finkelstein. When has this man ever publicly criticized Israel that isnt actually opportunistic or self-promoting? The man has never bothered to uplift Palestinian academics or grassroots activists, or Black and Indigenous academics or activists who are also pro-Palestine? Even Palestinian activists who are critical of Finkelstein have acknowledged his past contributions to the movement, the least he can do as an "ally" is stop hanging out with dirtbag leftist grifters, return the damn favour and actually listen to Palestinians.
