ocs aging is my favorite thing to read about, so i wanna ask you a question - how do you see matthias and theo (and their relationship) in their fourties?

and generally for how long you have their story planned? you think only about times when they young or you have “planned” their 50s, 60s etc

Oh I really love where Theo and Matthias find themselves as they age into their forties.

For Theo, he’s fully out from under his parents’ thumb by the time he reaches forty and he’s also been clean for a good handful of years. The first twenty-something years of Theo’s life were… well, they were really hard on him. He thought of himself less as a person and more as an extension of his parents’ will. He did what they said when they said it no matter how little he wanted to, but once he let go of all that appeasement and supplication… he finally got to relax. Theo’s had pretty bad identity issues his whole life, but in his thirties and beyond it’s like he’s finally found himself again. He was lost before, you know? And in his forties he’s comfortable. I’m not saying he’s magically healed and well adjusted or anything, like he has C-PTSD and he still begs off therapy appointments and taking meds but… he knows who he is and he can see the world in the same colors he saw when he was five and still playing in the garden, unafraid of all the things a child shouldn’t know about.

For Matthias, he’s settled into his forties with grace. I think he’s more grounded after having Theo in his life for two decades. I think I’ve said this before, but he was numb to pretty much everything in his twenties and totally disillusioned and nihilistic. Let me be real… Matthias’s personality hardly changes as he ages, but I think his outlook on life is a little less bleak with Theo in it. Hm… I think in his late thirties he’s finally processed a lot of the trauma he experienced in his teen years, but… I don’t think his insomnia ever goes away. I do think he can sleep a little longer, but he still has auditory hallucinations for sure. Nevertheless, Matthias is fulfilled in his forties. He has his best friend and the love of his life… it’s all he needs. I think Matthias is really just someone who desperately wanted to be loved and he didn’t know what that hunger was for until he was so full of it it got stuck in his teeth.

As for their relationship when they’re older… they’d actually defined it, first off. I think they feel like they’re too old to be calling each other ‘boyfriend’ so instead Theo calls Matthias his partner and Matthias calls Theo his lover. They’re definitely living together but they’re still not married. I think Matthias might’ve proposed sometime in their early thirties but been rejected. Not that it was a serious proposal, mind you—like, the chance that he asked during sex is pretty high I won’t lie lmao—but I think he was probably just trying to get a feel for what Theo wants and that was a good enough answer for him. Day-to-day… hm… Theo’s a working man so he’s often late to meals and Matthias has to find him in his art studio to get him to eat something. Matthias is still a layabout but he does busy himself with writing—just journaling and letters and stories he reads for Theo. Matthias is also sponsoring a few organizations that’re trying to shut down the troubled teen industry. They visit Imani and her husband often and Matthias babysits when asked—Theo is very hands-off when Matthias is babysitting since he still has a pretty emotional response to seeing happy kids... ugh. The friends of Theo’s who stuck around from his party days will have lunch with him every few weeks, but they still don’t like or want to be around Matthias, which, like… fair. Theo doesn’t really hang out with anyone on a regular basis other than Matthias, if I’m honest. Theo just… isn’t actually a people person, it turns out. Theo also does a lot of volunteer work with animals since it’s another kind of therapy for him. They’re just happy, y'know?

As for the actual extent of the planning I’ve done with the characters... well, there’s no end to their lives in my head since I can just picture them at any age. I know Theo and Matthias very well… I don't even really need to think about it (which is also why I hardly ever write anything down… they’re just living in my head). That said, the actual story they come from (which doesn’t actually have a title—echthroi is just a temporary name) only lasts for about two—maybe three—years. It’s not fully plotted out because I would first need to actually make the Big Decisions I’ve been putting off with relation to the plot for foreverrr, but I know where it starts and where it ends. So they’re both forever in their 20s in that way, but to me they’re every age they’ll ever be.

You couldn't help but notice the priest. His white hair, dark skin, and black eyes. The way his expensive shoes would click with every step he took as he passed your cell. He intrigued you to say the least.

You had never considered yourself religious until you met Enrico Pucci.

The first time you had stepped into the church, you were blinded by the stained glass above that the sun shone through perfectly. The church was mostly empty, just a couple of prisoners in the back praying softly into their cupped hands.

It was an eerie place for you, since you had never really been in a church before with other praying people. They were praying away sins that could never be fixed.

You sighed and took a seat in the front, not knowing how any of this worked. You cupped your hands in front of you, not knowing what to say or do. You definitely weren't doing anything properly, but that was okay, you thought.

But you immediately felt your face flush when you heard the familiar click of Father Pucci's boots as he walked in, standing at the front of the church to pray at the statues in front of him.

You didn't know whether to say something or not, but you did come here for a reason, did you not?

You stood up and walked over to Pucci, immediately getting noticed, causing the priest to turn around.

"Ah, y/n, is that right?"

"How do you know my name?" You asked smugly, leaning on a nearby table.

"I know all of the prisoners names."

"Is that right?" You looked the man up and down, making his cheeks heat a bit.

"Y-Yes. That's right. May I ask what you're doing here?" He shuffled in his spot and you adjusted your hands, clearly annoyed by the handcuffs you had on.

"Why else would I be in a church, Father? I'm here to pray, of course. Though I don't know much about the religion. Would you be willing to teach me?"

Surprisingly, Pucci blushed at you. "I would love to teach you, y/n. Please come in more often, would you?"

And you did just that. You visited him as often as you could. Whenever you were out of your cell, you were with Pucci. To be honest though, you were paying no attention to the lessons and more to the teacher. He was so caring and sweet to you, even knowing why you had been arrested. He wasn't afraid of you and for that, you were flattered.

Eventually lessons became visits as you just wanted to simply be around Pucci and he seemed to simply just want to be around you. You flirted and you could tell he was trying to flirt back, even if subtly.

You could tell that he both wanted this to go on and wanted it to stop, but even so, you would still be sitting across from him and laughing with him over a glass of wine.

You had made Pucci feels ways he had never felt before.

And somehow, he was thankful.

omg what grade do u teach nina?? if this is too personal of a question u dont got to answer it!

oh, no problem friend! so basically, last year, during my last semester at school -- which is when i started peppermint, actually! -- i got my teaching credential for elementary school ( k-5 ) which was so exciting!!! but oh my god, i was EXHAUSTED ( which is why i fell in that Summer Schlump tbh [ it was my Stan Season ] because i'd never had that much free time before which was too much tbh ).

but anyways! for context, to get my credential, i had to work in both a lower elementary & an upper elementary class! more info under here!

so my first semester i worked in a 1st/2nd grade class which -- i loved them so much when i left i cried ( the kid that told me he hated me my first day and threw a STAPLER at me was actually in that class and he was the one child that had to be forcibly removed from me on my last day because he wouldn't let me go bc he didn't want me to leave....WHEN I TELL YOU I WAS CRYING LIKE LITTLE MAN DON'T DO THIS TO ME!!!! <//3 ;-; ) but yes, i literally adored them, they were so stinking cute -- i can't talk abt them too much or i'll Cry.

my second semester i was in a MASSIVE -- when i say massive i mean massive, we could barely move in that room -- fifth grade class and i also loved them sm -- they did dunk on me all the time smh -- and when i revisited them later, they were SO EXCITED, oh my god they gave me Hell during my semester, but they were Angels when i came to visit like!!! everyone hugged and high-fived me...love them, they were so funny...i miss them every day ;-;;;;;; AAAAA IM CRYING

but for This Job, i'm actually not working in one Specific classroom, i kind of float around and work with a lot of different ages/grade levels! which has been...Interesting for me, lmao! it's an adjustment for sure.

my favorite time is hanging out with the tiny little people ( if i could choose a grade level to teach it would probably be k-2 ) i read them lots of books and sing them a lot of stuff!!! were learning our letters :) i also dress kind of like Teacher Harper Finkle and they gas me up so much -- i came out of a classroom the other day to a bunch of first graders AND THEY ALL CLAPPED I DID A SPIN AND THEY WERE LIKE YOU LOOK LIKE A FAIRY PRINCESS WOW WOW WOW!!!!

i screamed they were SAUR CUTE!!!! heaven!!! all of them! angels! -- they really like all my apron dresses and my fuzzy ear muffs and my crazy eye makeup and stuff i love them so bad -- SOMETIME STHEY ROAST ME THO!! they don't mean to -- one day last year, i was hella late and tired and i had a Manic Uncle Nina Moment and bleached my hair but was too lazy to tone/dye it a color ( my hair was a lot of different colors! it was actually blue last year bc as a treat to my fifth graders, i let them choose a color for my hair! thank god it wasn't puke green IT GOT REALLY CLOSE I WAS CRYING PLSSS HELP )

and she was like Miss, Did You Do Your Hair! & i was yes, i did friend and she was like Can You Do Something Else It Looks Weird like KHDSLDKH STOP THE VIOLENCE!!! PLEASE!!!! BRUTAL OMG ;-; but at least she was REAL! W/ ME! i like the tiny ppl -- theyre honest.

which is why i'm kind of having trouble w the older kids bc its not in my wheelhouse to teach older kids so i'm a little...Stressed, smh. it's bc i can't really tell if they like me/are secretly roasting me -- also the high school boys were giving me The Business abt their phones smh i was like THIS IS MY JOB BESTIES DONT BE LIKE THIS PLS -- anyways they kind of scare me, smh, but i'm sure we will be close in abt a month...i am pretty chill or i try to be! <3

my specialization for school/my teaching philosphy focuses on SEL or social emotional learning! which is concerned with mental health, making sure kids feel safe, loved, validated...i'm v Passionate abt it.

i'm actually so passionate about it that i was thinking of going Back To School ( whichhhhh sahdkad UUUUUGH ) to get my license to be a guidance counsellor!!! post covid kyle and i are like the same person i swear. idk teaching math is hard and i really just enjoy hearin about kids days and helping them with stuff that's not subject related, idk.

i'll keep you guys updated! i actually have a lot of down time in my position so i am in the staff lounge answering these! which is fine tbh the adults are chilling but if the older kids who can READ accidentally glimpse my sp fanfic i will cry i would be so embarassed i'd never hear the end of it smh IF ANYONE IS READING OVER MY SHOULDER PLEASE GO TO JAIL MY FRIEND!!!! SMH!!!! SHOOOO!

Nervous about starting teaching in my own classroom, so i'm gathering up the nerve by doing this instead! but hopefully one day i will have my own classroom or go back to school so i can be a cool post covid kyle guidance counselor! thank you for asking! <333

WINTER. i need to you know that you talk about the things you love with such joy and enthusiasm and excitement that it makes me want to be excited about them too, even though i know literally nothing about them. anyway congrats on the michael-bay-less transformers movie <333

the truth is I have ,,, sooo many mixed feelings about transformers. like. it's part of a much bigger universe filled with lore and it's like. star wars or dc comics-sized. and I simply do not have room in my brain for ANOTHER comics-sized media because that would be. too much. so I just forced myself through the worst movie franchise in history to cherry-pick things that I liked from it and made up everything else. <3

but like. first of all my inner 8 year old goes absolutely buckwild for transformers. they're GIANT ROBOT SUPERHEROES!!! that can TURN INTO CARS!!!!!!! and sometimes they have SWORDDSSSS!!!!!!!!! and as much as I can't stand the movies, the cgi with the transformations is soooooo <3333333333333333 and the transformer designs are all soooo cool too !!!!!!!

and the thing that really gets me about the transformers movies is that they have SO MUCH POTENTIAL to not only make inner 8 year old me the happiest guy on the planet but to also tell a very compelling story!!!! the autobots were forced from their home planet and most of their race was killed by the war that tore their planet apart!!!! all that's left of this once powerful race of incredibly powerful beings is a small handful of exhausted soldiers who are hiding out on earth because they're being hunted all over the galaxy!!!! and even after losing everything, they all still decide to fight for earth and protect humanity from the same fate that took their families, their people, and their entire planet away from them!!!!!!! I'm literally biting !!!!! and after setting up that premise michael bay just. didn't follow through. and the movies are filled with utter bullshit storylines and every autobot's personality gets completely rewritten every single movie because the entire plot revolves around michael's bland self insert characters. the movies are soooooooooo bad but they could be sooooo good and that's my entire mental illness about transformers summed up in a single sentence.

but anyway. I don't know anything about the director of the new movie or if they're any good, but the only way they could be worse than bay is if they let a toddler keysmash on a typewriter <3 I'd even argue that'd be a BETTER alternative than michael bay's directing <33 but anyway. I don't like how optimus looks in the trailer because like I said, the transformer designs in the bay movies are, unfortunately, really really cool. and the new movie seems to have taken optimus' original design like in the toys and old cartoons, which is FINE but also ,,, I miss catboy optimus :(

like. say what you will about the og movies but they sure could design an autobot !!!!!!!! optimus just looks so ,, boxy in the trailer. and I definitely prefer his other design. but honestly I'd rather have a shittier-looking optimus without bay than a badass-looking optimus with him. so.

I'm overall very very happy with how bumblebee looks though <3333 but to be fair he's my silly little guy skrunkle gal pal so whatever he does will always have me giggling and twirling my hair <333 he has never done anything wrong in his life <33333333
