I can share these now.
So as of Chapter 21, Robert has a new look for the manga. Kind symbolic that he has changed and is keeping his promise to Richard.
So we have his scrubs, with and without the lab coat, his business suit for meetings and his Asclepiad look, which has a special robe to signify his leadership position at Caduceus. (And to a degree, a robe that was given to him by Richard.)
And that's all there is to it. Also small note, he also clipped his beard a bit. XD Long beards are a no go in the O.R. He looks better with it to be quite honest.
Anywho, just fun concept art for y'all! Hope you enjoy!

A wild Sewpronia appears! She's here to kick ass and trans gender!
Tumblr media
Sewpronia is a gallus, a devotee of Magna Mater from ancient Rome. The galli originated in what's now Turkey - or maybe Greece, or Mesopotamia. They arrived in Rome during the Second Punic War, after a prophecy declared the Romans couldn't win without the help of Magna Mater.
Tumblr media
Galli were assigned male at birth, but they dressed femininely. They may have been what we'd now call transfeminine, nonbinary, or a "third gender" in Roman society: "They say they are not men...they want to pass as women," as Firmicus Maternus said.
It's always messy to use modern identities for ancient cultures. But for our purposes, Sewpronia is a trans gal. Her name is a pun on Sempronia the conspirator from Bellum Catilinae, because every woman needs to commit a little treason sometimes.
Tumblr media
Her white and purple tunic, yellow shoes and makeup come from a description of the galli in Apuleius' Metamorphosis, the black and bronze jewelry are based on a gallus' grave found in northern England, and her long bleached hair follows the description in Robert Turcan's The Cults of the Roman Empire. Underneath, she has a strophium (bra/chest wrap) and subligaculum (loincloth).
Tumblr media
Roman women wore this bikini-like outfit when exercising, as shown in this Sicilian mosaic:
Tumblr media
The galli had a curious place in Roman society. Men who were seen as too effeminate were looked down upon, and being compared to a gallus was typically an insult. I'm also not sure whether Roman citizens could become galli, or only non-citizens could, or if this changed over time. But everyone accepted that there was a place for the galli and their goddess in Rome - even Cato wouldn't have disputed that!
Tumblr media
Please excuse any historical inaccuracies or poor styling choices I made - and send me any good sources on the galli you know so I can learn more! In the meantime, I'm going to make Sewpronia more cute outfits. She appreciates them much more than Cato the "shoes are modern decadence" Yarnier.
Tumblr media
Sewpronia and Cato are based on Allison Hoffman's AmiguruME doll pattern. Happy Trans Day of Visibility, everyone!

Divorced rhysta angst plsss 🥺🥺
DIVORCED RHYSTA YOU SAID????
.
March 15th.
There are seven yellow roses on her desk.
Nesta runs her thumb over her left ring finger, where the band used to sit. She keeps it in a dish with all of the rest of her jewelry. It has little company. She wears little jewelry.
-
She was waiting in line at the pharmacy when they met for the first time. She’d noticed him blundering around, loitering a bit—it took him fifteen minutes to pluck up the courage to talk to her. But she’d been uncaffeinated and exhausted and he took the brunt of it.
She’d rear-ended him in the grad school parking lot when they met for the second time. She was mortified. He seemed relieved. He was funny. His name was Rhys. He taught in the physics department. She told him her name was Nesta, she taught in the literature department. What do you teach, he asked. She inspected the cars. She inspected him, hands in his pockets, sleeves of his button-down lazily rolled up. Medieval romances, she said.
-
She wanted tenure, so she was up til two most nights, flipping through worn copies of journals and reviews, scouring the internet.
They were serious by that time. They’d been seeing each other for about a year. She was researching, working on a book, working at coffee shops and the library, and he was sitting across from her, working with equations, working with numbers he kept like magic tricks in his mind.
Nesta’s book was on marriage in medieval romances. Ironically that was when Rhys was looking at engagement rings. They had a small courthouse wedding in January. They moved into a little house, a five minute drive from campus.
-
She should have seen it coming, really.
She married Rhys, after all. Dr. Rhys Irwyn. He was teaching level 300 or 400 or 500 courses called things like Thermal and Statistical Physics and Quantum Mechanics I and Quantum Mechanics II and Stellar Evolution. Gorgeous things she couldn’t touch, couldn’t conceptualize. And he was tall and handsome. He wore glasses. He wore slacks, button-downs.
Anyway—they’d been married something like seven or eight years when she saw him in the car with the TA for one of his courses. Nesta knew who the girl was. She was a pretty, bright student. Her husband was holding that girl’s face, kissing her like he loved her.
-
“What’s so special about it?” He laughed. “It’s a day. Neither of our birthdays, need I remind you.”
She sighed. “It’s just nice, don’t you think? March fifteenth. It sounds right. It’s beautiful.”
“Fine. It’s our holiday, then. It’s a day made for you.”
“I knew you’d understand.”
“I love you.”
“Be quiet, I’m grading.”
-
She didn’t bring it up for a while. Months went by. She didn’t acknowledge it but she didn’t touch him, either. He bent his head to kiss her and she looked away.
On some windless autumn day she’d locked herself in a bathroom stall, squatting, hand clenched over her mouth. That evening she handed him the divorce papers and told him to sign. They had a fight. He lost quickly. He signed them by the end of the week.
-
There are seven yellow roses on her desk.
Nesta checks the calendar on her desk. On her bookshelf she has a small picture of her cat. A rosary, the last gift from her mother. Edith Wharton, Virginia Woolf, Alice Hoffman. Slim volumes of poetry about ghosts, and grieving, stacked atop each other.
She stands there a moment, then grabs the stems, stripped of thorns, and throws them out.

may i ask for all the Renfield details from the Fangoria article you mentioned
Sorry for replying late, I think you sent this just as I was going to sleep
FANGORIA TIDBITS!!!!
-They did multiple takes and variations of scenes. Director Chris McKay said every take with Cage was "so fucking watchable" and that having those dozens of takes to choose from was "the hardest thing about cutting* the movie" (*I think that means editing)
-Hoult once told Cage, between takes, that he had been trying to do the Dwight Frye laugh in the scene they were filming, and on the next take Cage "suddenly threw that laugh back at me and started mocking me with it."
-In one version of the apartment confrontation scene, Cage's Dracula uses the eyeball garnishing his bloody martini like a little puppet, "talking to it before slurping it up."
-This quote from the director: "Much like Lego Batman, where I posited that our Batman is every version of Batman, I wanted to put Cage in the Frank Langella movie and the Christopher Lee movies and everything else. If I'd had the money and time, there would've been a snippet of him in every decade there was a Dracula movie." (fwiw the budget of Renfield was reportedly around $65mil and they shot and edited it in less than a year's time)
-Cage is only the seventh actor to play Dracula for Universal studios. More men have walked on the Moon. Said Cage: "I'm proud to be a member of that club."
-Cage said his Dracula was primarily inspired in part by his father - "My dad was someone who wanted to speak with distinction. He didn't have a full-on British accent but he did have a mid-Atlantic accent because he was a professor... Dracula's an articulate, elegant and eloquent character, and my dad had all those elements" - and Ann Bancroft's character Mrs. Robinson from the movie The Graduate - "The way she was abusing Dustin Hoffman's character, and the fact that she was an alcoholic... All that, to me, worked, because this take on Dracula is really about his relationship with Renfield, a toxic relationship. And it's this master/servant crap that so many people deal with, whether it's at work or an unfortunate romantic relationship..."
-Hoult worked with Cage before- he played Cage's son in 2005's The Weather Man
-Costume designer Lisa Lovaas on working with Cage again: "I knew from my experience (on Superman Lives) that Nic was totally game. I could present him with an elaborate Dracula, and he would be 100% on board. He walked out of the fitting saying 'This is it, we've done it.'"
-Dracula has monogrammed Dolce & Gabbana shoes
-The writer of the article doesn't say much more about the costuming but wrote "Dracula shares a shirtmaker with Frank Sinatra, I'm told," and I'm not entirely sure what that means?
-Director McKay on the blood in the movie: "I wanted the blood to be a certain colour of red, more like the Tom Savini Dawn of the Dead blood."
-SFX designer Christien Tinsley studied up on corpses to get Dracula's varying skintones right. "Is Dracula just pale, or does he have an undertone of colour? Is that colour more sallow and corpse-like, or is it more blue and cool tones? ... Hundreds of years ago, hospitals and morgues would bring in artisans to recreate the corpse in wax as it was being dissected. And they would do this in beautiful colours, yellows and blues, copying what they were seeing, but giving them these beautiful colour palettes..." Tinsley used those corpse palettes as the basis for Dracula's skin.
-Tinsely also had a tough makeup challenge with Hoult's Renfield: "He's not seeing much daylight, not really taking care of himself. However, 100 years ago he was a respectable lawyer... So we scrapped the idea of making him look unkempt; he has traditions. But now his skin is the same cool tones as Dracula; they're family. And we see a transition in his appearance as he becomes stronger and healthier, emotionally and mentally."
-Hoult on his Renfield: "The version of Renfield that we are seeing is ninety years after the original. The madness has been beaten out of him. He's been under the thumb of this powerful man, taking care of him... for so long."

Couple of minutes separate me from sunrise
I supplied my own mind with all the destructive material it might need to ruin us; And it honored it all.
I asked for mercy, promised that I’ll create a better environment for both of us…
It deemed it all lies; and so it took control, spoke to me only in my dream flashes of the words I choose to swallow haunted me in my sleep.
All that broke me All that made me be.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’m calm, tranquil, existing…. a sweet taste is left in my tongue from the last conversation i had. Citrusy; because of all the words I swallowed.
It’s still dark, i had enough of the night to decend to the basement of my soul and bury some of the rage, along with all the faith i had in it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hanging by a rope I climbed back up.
Now, I’m seriously considering using that same rope that is covered with the dust of the grave I buried my rage in
To drag the sun down.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The urge to wrap myself around her Is infuriating to nuzzle my face and melt slowly…
On second thought, the sweetness of melting slowly
Should be reserved only for August.
Apparently, I’m calm enough to wait for another day.

PLEASE, HURRY, LEAVE ME, I CAN'T BREATHE
by wolverton
M | Mark Hoffman/Peter Strahm | Oneshot | 1.5k
EXCERPT
Sirens bled into screams bled into white noise. There was a dent in the front of his car in the shape of a guardrail, hours old. He shouldn’t have driven, not in his state. His hands had trembled atop the steering wheel. They were trembling in his pockets now. White vans adorned with red crosses, bathed in the red-blue flashing lights of police vehicles. Body bags outnumbered the gurneys. Utter chaos. He elbowed his way past the yellow police tape, past the bodies attempting to block his way, past the hands swiping at him—waved his badge like a lunatic. The faces at the scene were foreign, though the backs of their dark uniforms read ‘FBI.’ For a second and not a moment longer, Peter felt… not hopeful, no, though there was a sense of familiarity. Security. It came crashing down anyway.

AUTHOR'S NOTE
Hullo! I've never posted any of my works on this particular profile, nor have I really posted any Saw fics of mine at all, though the fancy struck me with this one for the simple fact I am just extremely happy with it. It's been bouncing around my mind for a couple of days now and I'm just glad to have freed it from the confines of my skull. (Unsaid, here, is so that you all may suffer with me. If you choose to <3)

Canoe Journey
Robert Davis Hoffman
from the website: “The blue-green color is a killer whale from behind. The bottom is the tail, and above the tail are the flukes. The little round face is the killer whale. The small circle above the little face is the blowhole. The upside-down face on bottom are the paddlers. His arms and legs are the yellow-green color.”
