this BJD was a gift from a coworker and classmate of mine, she was so kind as to give her to me at the end of last summer!

today, I sat down and put her in this new coord, then dug through my fabrics to find something suitable to make into a matching hijab. I have wanted to shell this doll into Naima from Ciconia, and although I put that plan on pause, I still think of this as a Naima-inspired move. ☺️

I don't actually know much about My Melody or Sanrio, but the thought of her as a hijabi is so cute and so close to canon, I couldn't help myself 🐰💕

Hi idk if this is ok but if you can i’d love an outfit board that’s coquette (lolita leaning) and in pink/white (and other pastels if you want), age ~6 ? i like hello kitty stuff and also idk if it’s feasible but if the clothes could be like full coverage ? im so glad i havent seen bigotry in kawaii and lolita in a long time. i know its still Out There but it could also be bc it migrated away from tumblr.

there were quite a few loud catty lolitas who would tear each other down bc coords weren't an aesthetic color palette (have you Ever seen old school lolita? they have chunky platforms and wild scarves with sweet lolita! who cares! have you ever seen photoshots of harajuku or shibuya or tokyo street fashion? they're wild! on purpose!), "dark skin isnt cute" racism, anti-hijabi islamophobia, and, get this, the term "brolita" used to separate the "female" lolita community from "fetishists" (lmao how many lolita progenitors are cis men, literally one of The brands, Moi Meme Moitie, is owned and made by the crossdressing guitarist Mana-sama, its thinly veiled transphobia at best)

it wasnt the average of he community, just a loud minority, but loud enough to be annoying. to the point one such lolita scoured my blog just to talk shit about how i "cant have an opinion bc i dnot have selfies wearing lolita" (at the time i didnt, but why should that matter lol what a weird thing to do)

ANYWAY

im getting mad about something i havent seen first hand in a few years. i should wear lolita again. i still have all my dresses. plus a few dark girly kei coords i never got to wear.

I dreamt something before that but I had this dream tonight where I was a make teenager and living with my dad (12 years I think?) and I had a friend over and this absolutely cool room with a long couch and lots of monitors (funnily enough a tiny TV, reminded me of the retro TV in Sims 4). No bed to be seen though.

We wanted to play a video game and I went to my little brother's room to ask him if he wanted to join also. He was about to tackle homework but agreed to join. I (male teenager me) tossled his dreadlocks. My little bro was mixed race and his mum was not in the picture for some reason. We were about to play the videogame and had a POV change

I was me (closer to awake self as female, but aged 16/17). My older sister (21-23ish) was over and showing me this completely decked out nursery (that for some reason had been assembled here and now she'd have to move it). We chatted a bit and middle younger brother had friends over and they asked me if I could wear my school uniform for them and if I looked sexy wearing it. I declined to dress up for a bunch of 12 year olds and told them that our uniforms where more like chic prisoners anyway. Cut to my school the next day and then a collage what every one could be wearing at school (we had a surprising variety of allowed pieces).

Today we had a movie showing and I went to get a seat. Somehow Giles from Buffy was our school director? Visiting movie presenter? Not really clear.

I couldn't find my friends nor any free seats really. Tried to sit next to some girls in hijabis but they said another friend was coming. I ended up leaning against the last row of seats, because they had made this kind of wood podium for them.

The movie startet and it was about vampires. Many people had also worn clothes with bat motives on them. Suddenly there was (subdued) screaming, the movie was stopped and some students started to flee in panic. I felt myself being hugged/held from being. Probably should have been scared but kinda melted into the embrace. I turned around and there was this person - gender unclear. Short, wild, blondish- honey hair. Kinda like the characters I liked as a young teenager tbh. I was like "hey are you a girl or a boy, because I'm kinda over boys after my first BF but well we can work with it.". The person (well vampire obviously) asked a bit surprised that I had a relationship already and I was like" "yeah a BF and a GF but girlfriend was more serious but still were just finding ourselves and trying this relationship thing you know?". Then I noticed they had boobs under their frilly blouse and vest combo and went "we can work with that". Meanwhile some people were eaten by vampires. My vampire decided to go back to my place though and on the way I was praying to Hecate to keep my siblings safe because I already felt mostly safe anyway. I was chanting under my breath "Hecate, Hecate please" and I had this brief flash forward moment that my vampire would approve of my faith and we'd bond over this. We missed the train home but hoped onto the end piece and rode that way.

Later we were girlfriends (they were fine with that term though still kinda genderfluid) and prepping for a lolita fashion teaparty. My vampire GF wanted to wear gothic lolita with a kinda on the nose vampire theme and I had this blue koi print dress I made myself and wanted to pick up accessories to go with it. I had left it at this place that made custom pieces to go with your existing wardrobe and they mislaid my dress. GF was about to go berserk on them for losing my work but they said they found it after all. (I own the fabric that inspired this koi dream dress btw but not enough for a dress I think. Hmm.)

pokesona, the stars are falling (not posted, will be posted with this years redraw), jewel's house, sleeping jewel, jewel's bedroom (also an extra bcuz i really like it but couldn't find the compressed file to put here: be back soon screen)

i have a lot of fun drawing my pokesona, it was drawn completely using vector lines which was unbelievably enlightening

the stars are falling was first drawn back in 2020 and has become a way for me to compare how my art has developed over the years. 2020 only featured Jason (he/him), 2021 only had Zero (ey/em), and 2022 includes the former two plus Cleo (she/her, but shes bigender and also goes by Liam he/him), 2023 will include Jason and Ambe (she/her). its a way for me to basically do a benchmark test on my composition and anatomy and colours and shading. i always have a lot of fun drawing it and sometimes making whole new brushes. important note: this one was actually submitted to an art contest, sadly i lost but it was actually my first time since elementary putting my art out with the intent to be judged.

jewel's house was my first time drawing and designing a house and finding different places to incorporate hearts was literally so much fun.

sleeping jewel is just super cute and jewel's bunny hoodie is my favourite thing ever. i have it on my phone and could stare at it for hours.

jewel's bedroom is ALSO a redraw. i enjoyed trying to fit so many things in it, i enjoyed sketching, i enjoyed lining, i enjoyed colouring. though this is actually my least fav of the 5 bcuz i fully believe the idea that your art is only as good as its weakest point. that's not to say its bad or that everyone will approach it as critically as possible. not even to say that everything needs to be perfect. but when i was rendering it, i didn't want to shade. so i took a funky brush and just rushed thru shading. in fact you can see that when watching the speedpaint, i just kinda scribbled the shading. HOWEVER that doesnt take away from the fact i think the rest of it is really well done. i think i did well on the bed in particular and the fact that i stylized a real bed that we own and my actual childhood bed that i would die to get back (we owned two, mine was lost when mum and dad had to abandon my childhood home bcuz of shitty roommates and a shitty landlord) i enjoyed drawing my actual stuffed animals and my actual lolita dress. it like actually has sentimental value bcuz of all of that i just wish i did it better.

uhhhh so like i dont usually recieve comments on my work aside from my family's "wow i could never do that" soooo well go with the comment you left on my bunny hoodie design bcuz as far as i can remember iirc it was the first time id gotten a nice comment about my fashion designs and i was really happy someone liked it bcuz im like super nervous about my silly fashion doodles :)

18. do you have any larger projects you'd like to pursue? like comics, shortfilm, a series, etc?

yes! id like House Of Misfits to be a cartoon, tho the show would probably be lighter than the short stories bcuz i don't imagine i could explore Amber's backstory on screen. im making a proof-of-concept website which is technically online and more than 70% unfinished.

i also have a coming-of-age novel i need to do research for called Saftey Blanket about a hijabi girl named Aminah in her senior year of highschool (if i made it a series wed get to see her twin siblings realize they're trans which would be fun but rn they are but lil babbies), id like to make a children's cartoon and a visual novel but i don't currently have any ideas for either.

btw despite the fact that i am an animator, i don't want to animate a show. i want to run a show. i don't actually enjoy animations longer than maybe 10 seconds.

i have a side project based around the album A Constant State Of Ohio by Lincoln that would be a very personal project around self image while having multiple personality disorders (and other problems), but i cannot for the life of me make an animatic. there's lots of ideas like this jostling in my brain, like a stop-motion animation of Through The Roof n Underground by Gogol Bordello, where i just simply cannot which i am fine with.

then theres the fact i do actually want to sew my fashion designs, at least that bunny hoodie if nothing else, and i cannot get my hands on any fabric despite owning a sewing machine
