movie night
Genre/Tropes: Very "what are we?" vibes.
Summary: After a movie night at Ramshackle, you and Ace are the only ones left awake.
Author's Comments: Okay so I had a love hate relationship with Ace UNTIL his Halloween vignette. That was so cute. I don't love him as much as Deuce (favoritism) but I don't think he's mid anymore LMAO

The movie playing on Ace’s computer was being drowned out by the sound of Deuce’s snoring and Grim growling. Ace kept glancing your way and making silly faces every time one of them made a noise, causing you to focus less and less on the movie each time. Eventually, you rolled your eyes and paused it, turning your entire body to face Ace. He was smirking, seemingly satisfied with himself.
“I was having a hard enough time focusing with them asleep, now you’re trying to make you not watch the movie?” you whispered, amused.
“It worked.” he stuck his tongue out at you, holding the blanket you two were under closer to his chest.
“You blanket hog!” reached out to snatch it from him, but Ace tugged it out of your grip.
“Tsk tsk tsk.” he shook his finger at you, eyes gleaming in the darkness, “If you want the blanket so bad you can always just get closer.”
“I’m not going to entertain your antics, Ace.” you rolled your eyes, crossed your arms and scooted away from him, “This is the third time you’re talked about cuddling with me.”
“I bet you’re super cozy, that’s all.” Ace snickered, scooting closer to you.
You watched out of the corner of your eye as he lifted the corner of the blanket, its warmth beckoning you in. Rolling your eyes, you finally relented, taking your place under the blanket. Ace sighed happily, resting his head on you and shutting his eyes.
“See, isn’t this better?” he mumbled, hands brushing against yours.
“It’s definitely warmer.” you agreed, taking his hand in yours.
“You’re bold.” he laughed quietly, giving your hand a squeeze.
“Says the boy that tried to sleep in the same bed as me twice.” you hissed, shoving him playfully.
“Hey, I said I wouldn’t take up a lot of room, didn’t I?” he objected, shoving you back.
You were about to open your mouth to fire an insult at him when Deuce shifted. You both froze, eyes wide as you turned to look at your sleeping friend. He was still very much asleep, his mouth hanging open as another snore escaped him.
“I thought he woke up.” Ace started laughing quietly, “That would have been bad. I like having time with you alone.”
“Stop saying shit like that!” you grabbed a nearby pillow and flung it at his head, “Seriously, you’re such a flirt. Hard to believe you swore off dating because of that middle school girlfriend-”
“Hey!” Ace threw the pillow back at you, his lips twisting into a frown, “I'm more mature now! Plus you’re different, okay? And I don’t hear you complaining!”
“Maybe I should start complaining then.” you huffed, grabbing the pillow and holding it to your chest.
“Why? Do you want me to stop?” Ace scooted closer to you again, tilting his head.
“...No. Not really.” you buried your face in the fabric, trying to hide your face from him.
“Oh. Oh, I see.” Ace laughed, slinging an arm around your shoulder, resting his head on you again, “You like it when I tell you I like you. I see how it is, Prefect. Do you like me?”
“Stop teasing!” you swung the pillow towards his face again, smacking him over and over.
“Okay, okay! I get it!” he grabbed the pillow from your hands and tried to pull it away from you.
You yelped as the yank from Ace sent you crashing down on top of him, your hands flailing for purchase. Freezing immediately after the fall, you refused to acknowledge the position you’d found yourself in. Ace had probably tried to hold you up once he registered that you were falling, which had resulted in your fingers being intertwined. With your weight on top of him, it looked as though you were lying on top of him, holding his hands.
“How did that not wake them up?” Ace muttered under his breath, eyes flickering between you and your two sleeping friends on the couch.
“I don’t know!” you whisper yelled, squeezing his hands as you tried to pull yourself up.
“Maybe we should try to tire ourselves out. You want to go outside?” Ace mumbled, pulling you closer, “We can go on a walk or look up at the stars. I can show you some magic tricks, too.”
“Oh, good idea. Your bad magic tricks will put me right to sleep.” you snorted, pulling the blanket off of your legs.
“Hey! Rude! I’d like to see you try to do a successful trick.” he huffed, throwing off the blanket too.
“I never said they weren’t successful, I said they were bad.” you snickered, holding out your hand for him to take, “Now come on. Are we going or not?”
