A bit Helion angst for you this morning…
Helion was not a fool. From the first moment he'd seen the boy across a crowded ballroom while they both played the charming courtier, he'd sensed the power hidden deep within him and the invisible chains which kept it there. It hadn't taken but a small effort in logical reasoning for him to understand what it meant, and only a small effort more to understand why it had remained a secret.
For centuries, he had kept that secret, doing his best to keep his distance lest anyone suspect while eagerly drinking down every bit of news or gossip that reached him about the boy who was rapidly growing into an almost universally loved and respected male. It killed him to be so separated from both his mate and his son, but for both of their safety, he would endure almost anything.
Then came Amarantha, and Under the Mountain.
He'd been present the day that started it all. When Lucien Vanserra, brash and confident, had almost gleefully informed the witch of his friend's refusal of her proposal. The way he'd insulted her so boldly to her face might have been amusing if not for what happened next. How he'd managed to hold himself back despite his near blinding rage, he couldn't say. Perhaps that small logical part of his brain had known that attempting to interfere with a female infinitely more powerful than him would not have ended well for anyone. He'd been nothing then really, a distant member of the royal family, always welcome to their table but of no true importance...
Of course, it wasn't long after that the accursed masquerade ball was held and they were all plunged into the witch's wretched curse. A few months later he suddenly found himself the unexpected High Lord of Day, brimming with power he was unable to use. He had wondered and worried then how Lucien was dealing with the increase in power he had surely received as the new heir. Wondered if he understood what it meant. Wondered if he could control it, or if it might yet give away the secret he and his mother had fought so long to keep hidden. Yet everytime the fox showed his face, not one hint of what he was appeared, and Helion prayed it would stay that way even as he was forced to watch his son suffer further indignities while his brothers sneered and laughed at his torment.
What came after Amarantha might have been worse. It wasn't just the battle with Hybern while his son was off on the continent Gods knew where, looking for a queen who might have been impossible to find, or the High Lord's meeting when he'd come face to face with his estranged mate, unable to speak to her. It wasn't even the knowledge that Lucien had found his mate and yet seemed doomed to the same fate of being forever separated from her.
It was knowing he now had the power to rival Beron's and still somehow being unable to do anything about it.
Another war came upon them in the form of a death god and Helion began to despair that his broken family might never be whole again as they all perished to a seemingly insurmountable threat. But fate, it seemed, had other plans.
Through a combination of efforts and luck on the parts of many, their world finally found themselves facing the possibility of true peace. And his son was at the center of it's heros. By another stroke of luck, Beron's own sons had solved the issue of freeing his mate from the hateful male's hold and he now found himself standing in front of the family he had been so afraid of losing, unsure how to claim them for his own.

Y’all Sam better watch her back bc I’m about to marry @velidewrites for the BEAUTIFUL ART SHE’S GIVEN ME 😭😭😭 all I do is simp about these two and she gave me this and regular emojis are not enough to express the emotions I am feeling about these two and how talented Velide is. As I expressed in private last night, this piece is more tender than a perfectly cooked chicken nugget and that’s all I need out of life.
Please do not repost! I have special permission from Velide to post!

So here me out.
We know what Jurian did to Amarantha sister.
He even disgusted the fae with the torture of her.
Imagine his revenge on the queens that cursed Vassa. Hrs going to be flaying, taking off body parts etc.
Too add to this. Elain and Jurian have been working together.
Through her visions. Both went into the cauldron.
Elain infiltrates autumn court. Kills Beron for Lucien, Eris and loa.
She made the king of Hybern fall to his knees. She's going to do the same to Beron.
I believe elain can see someone's true soul.
She's going to betray the night court to defeat Beron and Koschei.
I believe she will be apart of autumn and day courts. Maybe even spring.
Cause I truly believe Tamlin will help her with Beron and Koschei.
He saw evil. His own father

ACOTAR GIFT EXCHANGE
Beyond: a Helion x LoA fic for @spell-cleavers
Tumblr media
For the @acotargiftexchange I was thrilled to write this fic for @spell-cleavers who just so happens to be one of my very favorite people. Getting to know her over the course of this year has been such a joy, so I wanted to writer her something special. And by special, I mean I wrote my first ever smut scene. Can you believe?? Special thanks to @iambutmortal and @rosanna-writer for the beta help, and @separatist-apologist for allowing me to have a fun little cameo.
The Lady of Autumn has agreed to come live at the Autumn Court, though seems hesitant. Can Helion convince her that she belongs at his side?
And here's a little playlist!
She shines me up like gold on my arm I wanna take it slow but it's so hard I love to see her face in daylight It's more than just our bodies at night
Do you think I'm being foolish if I don't rush in?
Beyond-Leon Bridges
MORNING:
Helion Spell-Cleaver was feeling a bit unhinged. It wasn’t a surprise, since he had been looking forward to this for centuries. But still, he was teetering on the edge of his sanity.
It couldn’t have been a more perfect day, though. The sun rose over the Day Court, cloudless skies stretching from the far valleys and hills in the east to the rocky coast and the city of Naxopolis. Groves of orange and fig trees surrounded the sandstone palace, brushing up against its white pillars and walls. The smells of citrus and trees were deepened by the warmth from the sun and a cool breeze from the turquoise sea. From the balcony, Helion watched the early morning sunlight reflect off the waves like small golden flecks. The room was peacefully quiet and open. Helion was certain when he had chosen the large and spacious suite, she would love it.
Now, he wasn’t so sure.
She had never seen the sea, she had told him once, many, many years ago, when they had only met under cover of darkness in the far corners of the Autumn lands. He chose the large wing of rooms as soon as she had agreed to move to the Day Court. Helion wanted a fresh start for them both.
They had each other again. They had their son, Lucien, who had agreed to stay too. Though, Helion would admit only to himself that he wasn’t letting his son and his mate out of his sight again. Never again would Thérèse be stuck in Autumn, never again would she be under anyone’s control. The members of his court were thrilled when he had found Lucien, and they were equally as thrilled when Helion announced his mate would finally come home.
But as he heard the soft cries of morning gulls, and the city coming to life below him, Helion’s doubts slithered back into his mind.
Will she even like it here? Will she ask Eris to take her back? She left once.
Yes, but that was to save us, and to save our son.  Helion reminded himself as he took steadying breaths to calm his speeding heart. And I am not that monster. I will never force her. I am at her service.
A soft knock at the door brought him back to the morning. Costis, his butler, entered with a soft robe of linen in his arms. The satyr’s hooves clicked sharply on the tile, as he draped the ivory fabric chiton across a chair.
“Good Morning, my Lord. We’ve received word from Velaris, and the Lady Thérèse will be arriving with your son and his mate promptly at eleven o’clock.” Costis announced, crossing the room to bow. “Her personal items will be sent here.
Helion nodded once, quickly attempting to clear his mind. “Is everything else in order?”
“Yes, your Grace. The food is being prepared as well as the smaller dining balcony in the northwest wing. Nothing much is happening in the city, and The Magus has predicted fine weather for today. Perfect to show Lady Thérèse her new home,” the satyr said as he removed the sleeping robe from Helion’s shoulders. “I can send up for breakfast, unless you prefer to wait.”
“I’ll wait, thank you,” Helion said. He hardly had an appetite anyway.
Costis began to dress Helion, expertly wrapping the toga around him. The soft mix of linen and cotton promised a warmer day, the fabric hitting just above his knees. Enough to tempt, but not enough to scandalize. As Costis fetched his sandals, Helion removed the silk wrap from his head, satisfied that his hair still looked perfect. He had removed the ornaments from his locs for the occasion, instead opting for a small golden thread woven throughout his hair, tying it back with a leather strap. Helion placed a golden sun band on each bicep, cuffs on his wrists, and the small bronze ring Thérèse had given him five centuries ago. Striding to the mirror, Helion took in his reflection. He wore no crown, his toga was simple, and he was unadorned. He looked like the same male that went to the Equinox ball all those centuries ago.
The sharp clang of steel and bronze bells from the Magus’s tower rang, indicating it was half past ten. Helion straightened and took a deep breath. He had been planning this day for weeks, no, centuries. He was ready. “Costis, remind me of the possible itinerary I had drawn up.”

What Lies Inside (Azris)
This was basically the first story that got me into shipping Azris. This story has broken my heart on several occasions, ripped it open, healed it, broke it again and it was all worth it. The story is absolutely amazing, one of the best things I have ever read in my life and I loved every bit of it.
Heartbeat (Azris)
This story was definitely one of the cutest things I've ever read in my life, it is wonderful and heart warming and everyone should definitely check it out — it will brighten your day.

Why settle for an Elriel forbidden romance when Helion and the Lady of Autumn's forbidden love story is so much more intriguing?
And the best part is, you still get a Lucien Vanserra included, free of charge!

Tumblr media
"What's on your mind?" Elain rests her head on her mate's shoulder, looking into the same direction as him. Their four daughters are seated together in the grass, playing with stems and small daisies. Dalia, the eldest, is enthusiastically narrating a story to her younger sisters, using gestures to emphasise her points.
"How lucky I am to have the five of you in my life." Lucien says, turning his head to gently kiss Elain's forehead.
Elain's face lights up with a joyful smile. "Soon the six of us," she adds, her smile turning into a grin as she places her hand on her rounded belly, Lucien’s warm hand finding its place on top of hers.
"Indeed, soon the six of you," Lucien muses playfully, "Perhaps this time the Mother will bless us with a son." He tilts his head back and lets out a hearty laugh, soon joined by his father's deeper chuckle.
In a gentle voice, his mother, the former lady of the Autumn Court and now the High Lady of Day, chimes in, "Or maybe it's the other way around than it was with me, and you'll end up with seven daughters." She grins at her youngest son, sitting on a blanket a little way behind Elain and Lucien, next to Helion their hands intertwined.
Lucien bursts into genuine laughter, giving Elain's hand a light squeeze. "Well, I suppose I'd be an incredibly lucky father in that case."
The sun's warm strays fall upon them, Elain and Lucien's eyes still on their daughters. But suddenly, one after the other rises from the ground, Dalia being the first, a bunch of flowers in her hands. Poppy and Willow follow after their big sister, big grins and happiness on their faces, as they try to hold the whole bunch of little petals and tiny daisies they collected in their small hands. "Mamma! Mamma!" Poppy expresses happily.
Dalia already tumbles onto her father who catches his oldest in his arms and cuddles her tightly. "Pappa!" she happily says and curls her arms –hands still full of flowers– around Lucien's neck. Dalia has always been a Pappa's girl, just like Ivy. Poppy and Willow are definitely Mamma's girls, both hurdling to Elain.
Last is Ivy, climbing to her little legs. Her brows lie in furrows when she sees that all her sisters have already arrived at their parents, and so tries to quickly set out as well. On wobbly steps she walks over to the rest of her family, both Lucien and Elain already expecting their youngest with bright grins on their faces. Little Ivy is just too adorable, placing her feet so far apart in order to hold her balance. Once having arrived, she joins the family cuddles, also climbing onto Lucien's lap, now wedged between her father's and her sister's chest.
Dalia tips her head back, grins and veils her face in the most innocent facade possible. Her eyes are aglow as she searches Lucien's gaze and says, "Can we put flowers in your hair, Pappa?"
"Yes, flowers, Mamma!" Willow claps her hands, bouncing up and down on Elain's lap.
The parents can only say yes, how could they ever deny their sweet girls a single wish.
"Do you worst then," Lucien chuckles, giving his daughters free reign to do with his hair whatever they want.
Helion and his High Lady are lying down, watching the beautiful scenery from a little distance. It fills their hearts with nothing but happiness, joy, warmth and love.
Their son is beaming, his face bright with joy that mirrors the emotion in his heart. This is what happiness looks like, and what greater gift is there for parents than seeing their child happy.
Ivy is standing on Lucien’s thighs, or rather bouncing and dancing on his thighs, her tiny hands holding onto Lucien’s thumbs as she is babbling some song her sister have taught her. She is giggling while Dalia threads daisies into Lucien’s hair, meticulously working each flower into a strand of hair.
Poppy is occupied with Elain’s hair, carefully but thoroughly placing each delicate flower into her mother’s hair. Willow is cuddled to her mother’s side, her hand resting on Elain’s round belly. "You look beautiful, Mamma," Poppy hums and leans forward to kiss her mother's cheek.
Elain reaches her hand back, so she can squeeze her daughter's small hand, her gesture conveying more love than words could speak.
Elain leans back a little, stretches out her legs, her heels touching the soft but cool grass. She hums, her hands also placed beside the blanket, in the grass. She turns to look at Lucien, his happiness mirroring hers. The sky above them is blue with big fluffy clouds, and the bright sun in its centre.
Ivy is still dancing and bouncing around on Lucien's thigh when Dalia suddenly says, "I got an idea, we need more." She lets go off her father's hair, turning to her one year younger sister, Willow, and grabbing her hand to pull her along with her.
Poppy tips her head back, glancing past her mother's shoulder and then up at Elain. "Where going?"
"I don't know, sweetie, but we will soon see." Elain's smiles and when she lifts her gaze, Lucien's attention is already on her. He lets his gaze run over her, momentarily stopping at her round belly before moving his gaze back to her eyes. "You look stunning, my lovely mate," he hums, their gazes still locked. "You do too, my lord." Elain grins from one ear to the other, her hand still on top of Poppy's which rests on her round belly.
Collecting more flowers, Dalia and Willow move through the large flower fields, laughing. They come back with bunches of wildflowers, which they gently weave together and soon their goal becomes clear — they are making flower crowns for their parents, but also for their grandparents.
Joy and laughter fills the meadow when flower crowns are placed on top of each head, Lucien and Elain also having made four little crowns for their girls in the time Poppy and Dalia worked on theirs.
As the sun begins to dip behind the mountains in the distance, casting a warm golden glow over the meadow, the family moves closer together. Willow is not sitting between her grandparents, one hand placed on her grandmother's thigh, the other holding Helion's broad hand.
Lucien wraps his arm around Elain, drawing her close, while Poppy, Dalia, and Ivy nestle in around them.
"We are so blessed," Elain murmurs, her eyes glistening as she gazes at her family and then turns to look at Lucien. His own eyes are glassy, his lips pursed. "These moments, these memories, they are what truly matters in life. This is happiness, Lucien." Elain's voice trembles a little and she can also feel Lucien shudder slightly. She is feeling his emotions rich and stark through the bond.
Her mate nods, his heart warming with gratitude and love. "Indeed, my lovely mate. Not everything was always easy, but these moments remind me that everything happens for a reason and that everything is worth it."
Together as a family they watch the sun set on the horizon, painting the sky with hues of orange and pink.
