lmao at Parker's lev:red s1 response to Eliot's fed girlfriend. the lighthouse one in particular has the same energy as your cat sensing you're about to get it on with your new bf and deciding to come into the bedroom and lie down on top of you the moment anyone starts taking their clothes off
lol yes, parker is Not Having It. and honestly i agree, they're criminals and maria's a fed and also just... cops are cops! but in general, yeah, parker's reactions and the lighthouse ep especially are so funny. she wants to interfere and luckily interfering is, like, her greatest talent in life. and her spidey senses tingle whenever eliot is about to make a move lmao.
plus parker is always cat-coded imo. appearing and disappearing from rooms in seemingly impossible ways? hanging out in random small spaces or perched up high on rafters? generally independent and aloof, but clearly loves their family? affection in the form of just sort of bumping into people? strangers/distrusted people attempting to touch/get close may result in injury? sometimes just kind of sits and stares at people? napping at weird times in weird places? being a CAT burglar? --okay maybe puns don't count lol. i've never had a cat but every cat owner (or rather, person owned by a cat) that i know describes their cats that way, like beloved little cryptids who they wouldn't trade for the world. hardison is a cat person, is what i'm saying.
(actually wait, parker's first non-criminal friend is peggy, who really is canonically a cat person! maybe im right about the cat coding lol)
thank you for the ask :) hope you're having a nice day!!

And another thing! Literally any queer story that takes place during the colonial age would have a huge gaping hole in it if it didn't have anticolonialism as a theme. Especially one that centers indigenous people. Like the reason that every culture had their own concepts of gender until something happened and then suddenly the gender binary was ubiquitous is because western European colonial powers made their view of gender the only acceptable one as part of christianizing and colonizing the world. You're not gonna have a show set in 1717 in the Caribbean where the love interest is a gay Maori man and the main deuteragonist is a non-binary mestizo catholic and just skip over colonialism. Like these are exactly the people who western gender roles are being forced on at fucking gun point during this era. Jim and Ed are both mixed race characters who's gender and sexual identities are in active defiance of the colonial powers that be. And this is the fucking Stede Ed and Jim show.
And there's something to be said for the fact that Stede's toxic masculinity plot line is internalized and Ed's struggle with toxic masculinity is largely external in the form a white guy who rubs elbows with the British Navy when Ed doesn't behave to his standard of masculinity. That choice didn't come out of nowhere and it shows a deep understanding of where homophobia comes from. That's not to say that precolonial communities of color were paradise for people that we today would consider queer but the rich tapestry of sexual and gender expressions that existed in those communities were erased in the name of colonialism. That's going to affect literally any queer person at the time when OFMD is set. These two things are inextricably linked.
Like when David Jenkins says a lot of what we're taught about being men is wrong, motherfucker who taught us what a man was. Who taught Ed what a man was? Who taught Stede what a man was for that matter? It's the white dad with the English accent who is violent (derogatory) and overbearing.
Like you get what I'm saying right? Like it's a silly little rom com but also it must necessarily be that deep because of who these characters are and when and where they exist.

You know, Darius being mysophobic makes sense
Imagine that you are carrying a purple slime with you. How fast this slime will become dusty, hairy and gross?
...now imagine that that slime is part of your body and you must constantly control its solidity in certain places so you don't end up admixtured with sand and mud. Yeesh. Yeah, mysophobia it is, then

While taking name of somebody else is not the most logical step, it makes sense why Sou of all names is the one being chosen. Not only Midori's behaviour was being copied, he made a big enough impact for Shin to react to his name. Otherwise it would be like:
Sara: hey, Makoto, have you investigated this part of building?
Shin: ... (Who the heck is Makoto?)
Shin: .... (Oh wait that's me now) *reacts after like a minute* oh yeah miss Sara definitely
Sara: (that's definitely suspicious behavior)

my friend and I were talking about non durge/companion aus for our respective durges and I kinda like the idea that yves is a reoccurring npc kinda like barcus/rolan/volo, etc. she’s a kelemvorite cleric who you rescue from some bandits or cultists in the wilds, and the reason she’s there in the first place is bc she’s in a pilgrimage to find jergal’s lost temple since there were talks in the kelemvorite church that there’s a hidden temple in that area somewhere. if you make her talk more, she’ll tell you that she only decided to go into that pilgrimage bc her friend (who is a bard) kept insisting that they should travel the world together, but he left her behind so now she’s travelling and looking for him bc she wants a little more excitement in her life. when you tell her that you actually have been in that temple she’s like ‼️ I have to go there then, bye 🫶🫶 and she probably gives you some camp supplies as thanks.
act 2 and you find her in the moonrise tower cells. turns out she’s been taken by cultists AGAIN but unlike the other prisoners she’s weirdly optimistic about her situation. actually, she’s morbidly enthusiastic about the looming threat of death and she’s eager to feel the respite that comes with the death father’s embrace. she’s kind of like lumalee from the mario movie (“there’s no escape. the only hope is the sweet relief of death 🥰”) rescue her with the others and she’ll tell you that she was on her way back to the gate when she got snatched by these cultists.
and in act 3 you can find her down the mortarch !!!! you have to save her again bc this time it’s now the bhaalists who are targeting her (👀) bc she started looking into this absolute ploy after her time in moonrise. she’s also been taking notes of the dead bodies they’re receiving, and how they’re weirdly ritualistic and not like the random murders that occurs in the city and she thinks it’s a bhaalist plot. she’ll tell you what she knows about the dead three and how they all wanted the death portfolio after jergal retired, then more stuff happened and now it’s kelemevor’s domain. basically she gives you a lead on the candulhallow’s tombstone (bc it’s like so close to the cemetery), all her prev research abt the bhaalist plot and the other rumours relevant to the dead three she’s been hearing around the city. final dialogue with her is that she tells you to be careful bc she knows that you have to be hero now, and if you somehow die at the end take comfort that she’ll be the one responsible for your burial 🥰
