Heyy could I possibly request f!OC x Mark, in which the OC is Red Rush’s daughter who also inherited his powers. Set before the events of episode one maybe at a Guardian’s work party or smth. Mark and OC are hitting it off in a ‘Idk what’s going on my dad just works here’ solidarity during the party; while her doting and protective father Josef is keeping an eye on them, unsure about how he feels about his favorite sidekick growing up on him. Maybe Olga and Debbie try to be matchmakers too lol

The annual Guardians of the Globe Founder's Day party was never really Zasha's scene. It mainly consisted of the Guardians and the Global Defense Agency's families, and more often than not, she was the only one in her age group. Her true purpose there was to really just pay her respects to the people — including her father, who people knew as Red Rush — who protected the planet.
This year's Founder's Day event was different, however, as Omni-Man finally accepted the party invitations he'd been ignoring for years. Although there were jokes that he had accidentally RSVP'd to the party, or that his wife had accepted the invite behind his back, everyone seemed happy, and still pleasantly surprised, when he and his family walked in.
Sitting down with a non-alcoholic beverage in her hand, she watched as everyone shook hands with the powerful Nolan Grayson and his loving family. Zasha's mom, Olga, walked over to say hello and immediately dragged the three to where Zasha and Josef were. The two male superheroes first exchanged pleasantries, followed by Olga forcing her daughter to get up so she can properly be introduced to the teenage boy standing across from her.
"Zasha, hi," Debbie said with a wide smile as she gave you a warm hug. "This is my son, Mark. I don't think you two have properly met yet."
He extended his arm, "Oh, hi, uh, I'm Mark," he replied with a sheepish smile.
"Hi, I'm Z," she said as Olga gave her a soft push to move her forward. The young girl's eyes threw daggers at her mom before politely shaking his hand, "Nice to meet you."
"Are you all hungry? They've got a lot of food," Olga told the Graysons, leading them and Josef, who squinted his eyes at Zasha and Mark, over to the buffet table.
Zasha and Mark looked at each other awkwardly and exchanged nervous smiles. He began to rock back and forth on his feet, shoving his hands into his pockets as he attempted to think of what to say.
"So uh, how's... superhero training?" he asked.
"Uh, good," Zasha answered, nodding her head. "We managed to take down Titan yesterday so that was pretty cool."
"Oh yeah? That's great," Mark exclaimed. "How about, um..." he scratched the back of his head, "Is the, i-is the drink... good?"
She looked down at her cup and clicked her tongue, "You know for a party that's sponsored by the government, you'd think they'd have better catering."
He chuckled, "If I knew this was going to be a boring party with adults and toddlers and no good food, I would have at least brought a snack and some comic books."
Zasha sat back down and looked up at him with a smile, "Well you better take a seat, buddy, because the next few hours are going to make you wish you were being hurled at buildings instead."
She gently patted the seat next to her and Mark accepted the offer. "Do you go to these things a lot?" he asked.
"Unfortunately, yes," Zasha replied. "You are so damn lucky your dad never wants to come to a Guardians event."
Mark laughed, "You know what, I used to be really jealous of all the families who got together during these events but right now, I'd do anything to just go home." He looked around and sighed, "I don't even know most of these people."
"Me too, and I've seen their faces at least thrice a year ever since I could remember," she agreed. "Actually, I think this is the first solid conversation I've had with someone at these things."
"Really?" he asked in shock.
"Really," she answered, taking a sip of the bland orange juice that now mostly tastes like water. "Most of the guys who are my age that have attended aren't really cute, nor are they interesting, so meh."
Mark's head snapped up at that remark and he felt the warmth rush up to his cheeks. "The other guys aren’t... cute and not... interesting?"
"Hell no," Zasha laughed. "Have you ever tried connecting with a person who has no special abilities but know you're a superhero? It feels like talking to a wall."
He crossed his brows, "What do you mean?"
She sighed and leaned forward, "They usually ask me what being a superhero is like, but when I tell them that I managed to take down a man with rock for skin, it's like I'm a freak."
"You're not a freak, Zasha," he replied. "And any guy who feels that way about a girl who's trying to save others sounds like a shitty person."
"And they're not even cute!" she added.
"And they're not even cute," he repeated after her with a laugh.
Zasha sighed again and sat back up. She looked over at him and briefly examined his face, "Well it's a good thing you are."
Josef turned around and watched as the 17-year-old boy chatted up his daughter, as well as literally take his seat at the table.
He held on to Olga's arm and leaned in, "I don't like what I'm seeing over there."
Olga turned to look then laughed at her overbearing husband. "They're just talking, Josef," she said. "It's not Zasha's fault she can enjoy a pleasant conversation and you can't."
"Mm..." Josef groaned, "I don't like it."
"Don't like what?" Debbie asked from behind.
Olga walked over to her and excitingly yet subtly pointed at Zasha and Mark, who were now facing each other now laughing. "Josef's worried that Zasha won't have time to be his daughter anymore if she ever started dating boys," she explained to Debbie. "You know he scares off every single boy Zasha introduces to us? I'm worried she'll never have a boyfriend!"
"She doesn't need a boyfriend, Olga," Josef chimed in grumpily, crossing his arms as he watched the two like a hawk. "No one will be good enough for Zasha anyway. She can literally outrun all the boys she dates."
"So are you saying that my Mark isn't good enough for Zasha?" Debbie asked with half a smile, momentarily shutting Josef up before he nervously tried to form a sentence. "I'm just teasing, Josef," she followed, winking at him and almost warning him not to underestimate her son.
Olga chuckled, "It's good for them to bond. They're both teenagers and superheroes, if they ever date at least they won't have to worry about keeping secrets."
"Whoa, wait," Josef exclaimed. "They just met, who said anything about dating?"
His wife rolled her eyes at his remark. "We should, what's the term... hook them up," Olga said. "Debbie, ask Mark what's going on and I'll ask Zasha."
Debbie agreed to the plan and walked over to Mark and Zasha while Josef huffed in annoyance but stayed in his position; there was no way in hell he was going to keep his eyes off of them.
Debbie offered Mark some food from her plate but he kindly declined. "Good choice," she said. "For a party paid for by the government, you'd think they'd have better food."
Mark laughed and nodded in agreement, "That's what Z said!"
"Oh really?" Debbie replied with a playful smirk.
Mark and Zasha looked at each other as if they were sharing an inside joke before Olga called her daughter over.
"Sorry, mama is calling me," she told the Graysons as she excused herself.
"So..." Debbie trailed off, raising her eyebrow at her son whose cheeks were rosy red.
"Mom, please don't make it weird," Mark begged.
"You and Zasha seem to be hitting it off."
"I begged you not to make it weird," he groaned, covering his face.
"I was just asking!" Debbie said with a giggle. "Why are you being so offensive?"
"I'm not, mom, I'm just... ugh," he groaned again. "Please don't say anything to Josef and Olga. Don't make it weird."
"I won't, I won't," Debbie reassured him. "Are you gonna ask her out though?"
"Mom!"
"Okay, okay, I'm leaving," she said with a hearty laugh, nodding at Zasha who was walking back to her seat.
"Sorry about that, my mom was being strange," Zasha said. "Everything okay?" she asked Mark, who now looked like he'd been slapped over and over again.
"Yeah, yeah! Great! Everything's great!"
She smiled at him but Mark leaned over and kept his head down. Another moment of awkward silence fell upon the two; Zasha looked around while tapping her toes and Mark's sight was glued to the floor. From the corner of his eye, he could see his mom and Olga delicately signalling at him to make his move. He covered the sides of his face and continuously mouthed "No," but the two were unrelenting. He took a deep breath and finally sat back up, and looked over at Zasha who was still pretending to casually look around.
"Hey, uh, Z?"
She quickly looked over at him with wide eyes, "Yes?"
Mark looked behind her head and watched as Olga and Debbie were giggling and whispering to each other, like a bunch of high school girls who just saw their best friend talking to their crush.
"Uh, I'm hungry."
The smile on Zasha's face was quickly replaced with a look of confusion. "Okay... and?"
"Oh! Um," he cleared his throat, "do you... like burgers?"
Zasha giggled and nodded, "I do like burgers."
Controlling his urge to fist pump, Mark cheekily bit his lower lip and moved a little closer, "You wanna head out and grab a bite?"
"Uh..." she turned around and watched as Olga and Debbie quickly nodded their heads, her mom giving her a sign of approval to leave the party. "Sure, I'm starving."
Josef looked on as the two of them stood up and began to make their way to the exit. Sighing in defeat and sadness, he called them over to the place where he's been stationed at since the Graysons arrived.
"Papa, we're just gonna get something to eat," she informed him nervously, knowing his scare tactics when it came to the guys she introduced him to.
Josef's eyes softened as the sight of his little girl, who he knew and finally accepted was growing up. She was making her way into the world and as much as he wanted to always protect her, he knew that she was just as smart and as capable to start doing it herself.
He took his daughter's hand and held it tight, "Okay, call me if you need a ride home."
"I will," Zasha said, giving him a kiss on the cheek. "Love you, papa."
"I love you too," he replied with a smile that was immediately erased when he focused his attention to Mark. "Bring her home by 11:30, and no sneaking into her room by the window," he ordered the teenage boy sternly.
Caught by surprise by the sudden formality, Mark straightened his back and nodded. "Uh yes, y-yes sir, Red Rush, sir."
"Papa!" she exclaimed. "No more scare tactics."
"I'm sorry," he chuckled, "that was the last one, I promise."

hi hi hi so i was reading your fic where felix and elliot are feeding on an animal again and there’s some Hot Vampire Kissing Tm and i was wondering... since it was kinda teensy a little bit (very) hot .... could we have some more vampy- fangy bloody kissing with them please? i know it isn’t emeto or whump related but i figured i could always ask and you can obviously say no if you don’t wanna write it. Early-Days Felix and Elliott 
Felix didn’t bother sitting down to meals lately. Meaning he didn’t sit down, and he didn’t have meals. Instead, he stood at the kitchen counter and consumed whatever quick snack he managed to rustle up, wanting to dull his sudden cravings before they could set in too deeply.
This is what he was doing at 6am, as the sun cut the white kitchen tiles into slices. He was having toast, because toast felt like a good morning food, and raspberry jam because the visual of something red and sticky entering his mouth was just appealing, it hit upon something in his brain that was begging to be hit upon, but as he chewed it, the illusion gave way, and the jam just tasted like jam.
“There you are.”
Felix looked across the countertop as he chewed, feeling a flicker of affection at the sight of Elliott wandering into the kitchen. His hair was loose and dishevelled, not in its usual ponytail or half-bun. He’d come downstairs in just his boxers and a pinstriped shirt that he hadn’t bothered to button up, clearly not expecting Nancy or Ryan to be up and about yet. And Felix just couldn’t help but gaze at how each inch of fabric sat on Elliott’s body, rustling against his skin with every movement he made.
“Are you alright?” Elliott asked, opening the fridge and carefully selecting a glass bottle from the shelf in the door. Felix swallowed and looked away, unable to bear the sight of the bottle or its contents.
“Yes, I’m okay.”
Elliott glanced over at him, eyeing the toast in his hand, before pouring himself a mugful of the bottle’s contents. It sloshed from glass container to ceramic, and Felix heard every.
Single.
Drop.
He swallowed again, though there was nothing in his mouth but saliva.
“You got hungry again?” Elliott asked, returning the bottle to the fridge door. His surprise was likely due to the fact that they’d both had a large dinner the night before, consisting of fish and chips and lemon cheesecake.
Felix turned his slice of toast over in his hand, feeling grateful for how it had sat nicely in his stomach so far, but also hating it for not being what he really needed. Hating it for its inability to stop the feeling of his teeth being wrenched from deep in his gums.
“Yeah,” he admitted. A half-lie. Dinner hadn’t truly sated him, so technically he was still hungry.
He could see that Elliott was biting the inside of his own lip, and he had a feeling he knew what was going to come next. Elliott’s fingers delicately laid the mug on the countertop, grip lingering on the rim as though poised to move it closer to Felix.
“Felix, I think you should consider –”
“No,” Felix whimpered, backing up.
Elliott’s eyes narrowed. “I wish you would consider drinking a little.”
Felix lifted his food to take a bite, mainly to obscure the shy grin that spread across his face at hearing the concern in Elliott’s voice. It had been two months since Felix had first entered the townhouse and become an official member of the Aldridge clan, and it had been six weeks and two days since he and Elliott had started sharing a bed and kissing and doing the things that often followed kissing. Six weeks in which Felix felt he should have gotten over these silly little moments of incoherent infatuation, and yet he felt as giddy and nervous around Elliott as ever.
Especially when the older man expressed worry over him.
“Please?” Elliott’s voice was low.
Felix placed the remainder of his toast on the plate and licked his lips. “I… I can’t. The idea of it is still rather… repulsive.” Heat shot out to the tips of his ears. “No, no offence…”
“No, I understand what you’re saying.” Elliott pursed his lips, eyes trained on the mug. “The psychological adjustments can be as challenging as the physical ones, if not more challenging.”
As much as Felix appreciated Elliott’s sympathy, it didn’t do much to ease his discomfort. Just because someone else had once felt similarly to how he was feeling now, it didn’t reassure him that he would one day move past it and live like a normal person. A normal vampire, he thought to himself, wondering if he was even allowed to call himself a person anymore.
“You know that it comes from a willing donor, right?” Elliott was referring to the mug’s contents, which Felix was trying hard not to gaze upon. “You’ll probably meet her soon, and hopefully that will ease some of your anxiety.”
Felix gave a heavy shrug. He hoped the same thing, but he also feared that putting a face to the blank, human-shaped blood dispenser in his mind would make the task of consuming all the more difficult. After all, he’d never had any desire to put a name and a face to the cow just before biting into a burger…
“I’m feeling a slight sting myself, and there’s no point in wasting good blood,” Elliott said, his voice becoming deeper and more distant as it did when he was about to feed. “Would it bother you if I drank this?”
Felix shook his head briskly, snatching up the last of his toast. There were three bites’ worth left, but he shoved it all into his mouth at once. The sound of Elliott’s lips sipping on the blood rang loudly through his skull, entering his ears like the incessant humming of a broken street lamp. His own chewing did little to drown it out.
The sipping turned into gulping, and Felix’s eyes widened at the way Elliott tilted his head back under the mug. His free hand gripped the edge of the countertop, as though he might fall over from the force of drinking. Felix’s ears continued to zone in on the sounds of drinking, consuming, guzzling, and he was sure he could hear the liquid being pulled into Elliott’s throat along with tiny pockets of air, the muscles inside his digestive system greedy and eager to get it down as quickly as possible.
Felix had never known it was possible to literally go slack-jawed while watching something, but right then, he couldn’t have closed his mouth if someone had offered to pay him.
“Mm,” Elliott mumbled, gasping softly as he put the mug down, empty, on the countertop again. Hs mouth was smeared in red, a single droplet drawing a line down his stubbled chin.
There was a low rumble in the older vampire’s chest, which Felix only heard because the thirst had heightened his senses, and then a long gurgle as his stomach struggled to settle such a large amount of blood; drinking from a container wasn’t the same as feeding from an animal, so Elliott should probably have drunk it more slowly.
Felix felt his own stomach rumble as though in response to Elliott's, but for the opposite reason; it was making far-too-quick work of the toast and lamenting the lack of what his body truly needed. He still couldn’t manage to close his mouth, despite the saliva gathering around his teeth and wetting his lips.
Elliott frowned and placed a hand on his belly – bare between the unclosed buttons of his shirt – and let out a short, tight belch. “Excuse me.”
“No.”
“No? You won’t excuse me?”
Felix shook his head. He couldn’t stop looking at the red stains on Elliott’s lips and the drip on his chin, which he hadn’t thought to lick or brush away yet. The sudden fullness must have been dulling his instincts; Felix could almost see the bliss in his yellow eyes as warmth flashed through them.
His fingers and lips trembled as he reached for Elliott’s face.
Elliott wore a blank expression as Felix’s thumb dragged up through his beard and over the dip in the corner of his mouth. The thumb came away red and glistening, and Elliott grinned, revealing fangs that were slightly distended from feeding.
“What?” Felix mumbled innocently, as his own thumb entered his mouth.
His lips and tongue began pulling at the liquid, relishing the metallic sweetness. His stomach tightened in anticipation while his head seemed to fill up with butterflies. As he slid his thumb from his mouth, he felt his own fangs reaching down, relieving a little of the pressure in his gums.
“I can’t put my finger on it, Felix,” Elliott whispered, leaning in a little closer, so that Felix could smell even more of the luscious liquid on his breath, “but somehow, you’ve never looked so gorgeous.”
In the end, Felix didn’t know who kissed who first, but what he did know was that Elliott tasted better than any ice cream or strawberry or tuna roll he’d ever eaten. A couple of times, he was worried that he’d sliced his own tongue on a fang – Elliott’s? His own? It was impossible to tell – but even that didn’t slow him down in his search for every last dreg that Elliott hadn’t managed to swallow.
Meanwhile, Elliott’s grip on Felix’s waist tightened, their hips eventually digging into one another’s, Elliott’s back being pressed up against the edge of the countertop. Eventually, their lips parted, thanks to Elliott pulling his head back.
Felix’s eyes fluttered open, lips still bobbing as though they didn’t understand that the kiss had ended. Elliott was pressing a hand to his mouth, frowning as he let out another belch.
“I’m so sorry,” he grumbled, as though annoyed by his own body. “I just drank and you’re pressing quite hard on my stomach...”
Felix tried to shimmy back a little, though he was swiftly drawn back in by Elliott’s arms. Elliott’s eyes scanned Felix’s face, another grin tugging at his mouth.
“What?” Felix asked breathlessly.
“You’ve got, uh… Sorry, that’s my fault.” Elliott lifted a thumb to the corner of Felix’s mouth, dragging it across his lip.
“Am I messy?” Felix’s voice was a little distorted from having his lip tugged at. He batted his eyelashes at the delicious look in Elliott’s eyes.
“You’re positively radiant.” Hands slid around Felix’s neck, cupping his head and drawing him in for one last chaste kiss. “Why don’t I get you a little something to drink, and then we can head back to bed for a bit?”
Felix caught a fingernail between his teeth as Elliott and his lips moved away from him, towards the fridge again. He could feel a full-on blush starting, surprised that his body found enough red blood cells to pull off such a feat.
“Okay, darling.”

Story Summary:
The Holts are hosting a cookout for the members of the Kerberos team and their families. Shiro brings Keith along.
The Holt family’s backyard was bigger than Keith had expected. Sure, the house was near the edge of town, where homes started spreading out as the borders between city and countryside started to blur, but still. Maybe it was just because Matt was such an indoorsy guy, a computer geek with a habit of hibernating in his dorm, and Keith had just wound up assuming that the Holts didn’t have a whole lot of use for a big backyard. He hadn’t considered that the rest of the family may be more prone to going outside than Matt was.
Or perhaps just the fact that the yard was currently so crowded was making it look bigger. Shiro had told Keith that this cookout was for the Kerberos team and their guests, but Keith had assumed that just meant him and the Holts. The ground team had completely slipped his mind. There were dozens of people here; a couple were instructors at the Garrison’s academy, a few Keith vaguely recognized as either guest speakers or people he’d seen talking with Shiro, but most were strangers.
A nudge against his shoulder, from the seran-wrapped plate Shiro was balancing carefully in his hands, reminded him that he was standing frozen in the gateway, and he edged a little along the fence to let Shiro through. “You all right?” Shiro asked him.
“Uh-huh,” Keith said with a tentative nod. “Just, um, more people than I thought there’d be.”
“Ah, sorry about that. Well, you don’t need to talk to anyone you don’t want to talk to, okay? A lot of these people are stuffed-shirts anyway, don’t want that ruining your fun.” He grinned. “Just focus on the food, yeah? You haven’t lived until you’ve eaten one of Colleen Holt’s burgers. She’s a wizard on the grill.”
“Okay,” Keith said, taking a deep breath to prepare himself before following Shiro into the yard. The food did smell good, and the smell just improved as they made their way toward the food on display on folding tables against the wall of the house, all lined up for people to make their way down after getting their main course from the grill, which was currently being manned by a short-haired, slender woman Keith took a moment to recognize, since he’d only ever seen Colleen Holt before in a couple of photos on Shiro’s phone.
Shiro waved as they approached, giving her a smile. “I’m assuming you saved your very best burgers for me?” he asked as she turned toward them and returned his grin.
“Well, I was going to,” Colleen replied. “But you’re late. I ended up giving them away to some people who know how to stick to a schedule. I hope you’ve learned your lesson, young man.”
“Hey, I’ve had a busy week, needed to catch up on paperwork before getting here.”
“Mm-hm. And what paperwork would that be?”
“Not important.” He held out the plate in his arms. “I brought brownies. Does this make up for the tardiness?”
Colleen leaned in to examine the brownies. “Aw, Shiro,” she said, “You didn’t need to bring anything.”
“Oh, please, I’m happy to. Nothing like a good homemade brownie to finish off a good meal.”
Keith furrowed his brow. “They’re not homemade. You bought those.”
Shiro made an exaggerated grimace. “Well, a bakery is more like a home than most other businesses out there, so I’m still counting it.”
“But you got them at the supermarket.”
Shiro grimaced as Colleen laughed. “That’s okay, I could have guessed,” she said. “He’s not exactly known for skills in the kitchen. So, Shiro, planning on introducing me to your buddy here?”
“Right, of course,” Shiro said. “Keith, this is Colleen Holt - ”
“Doctor Colleen Holt,” she corrected him.
“Doctor Colleen Holt. Sam’s wife and Matt’s mom. Also an astrobotanist; she was on the team that developed the modular cultivation system that the Garrison currently uses in its lunar biospheres. Colleen, this is Keith Kogane. He’s a cadet at the Garrison. Probably going to beat me out for best pilot in academy history by the time he graduates, but don’t let him get a big head about it or anything.”
“Ah, Matt mentioned you’d taken one of the cadets under your wing,” Colleen said, holding out her hand to Keith. “Good to meet you, Keith. I hope Shiro here hasn’t been too terrible an influence on you.”
“I’m an amazing influence and you know it,” Shiro said as Keith silently shook Colleen’s hand. “Keith, don’t listen to her. She once said to Matt, and I quote, ‘Why can’t you be more like Shiro?’ Of course, that was only in regards to table manners, but still.”
“And if you can ever manage to teach that boy how to use a napkin, I will admit you’re an angel sent from Heaven, but that’s a pretty big ‘if’. You can go ahead and put your brownies with the rest of the desserts, Shiro, they’re at the end of the - ” She started to point toward the end of the line of tables, then frowned. “Katie!”
A girl who had been standing at the table jumped, her cinnamon-brown ponytail whipping around as she turned to face them, a partially eaten cookie dangling out of her mouth. Matt had mentioned before that he had a sister, and immediately Keith pegged this girl as her. Her face was a carbon copy of Matt’s; give her glasses and a shorter haircut and she could easily be mistaken for a younger version of Matt himself.
“What?” Katie asked through her cookie.
“How many of those have you had?”
Katie chewed thoughtfully at the cookie and swallowed before answering, “Like, fifty?”
Colleen sighed. “I told you to be sure to leave some for everyone else. You should at least try not to make yourself sick. Or eat some vegetables between the desserts.”
“Sorry,” Katie said with a shrug, not sounding sorry at all. She lifted her hand in a little wave. “Hi, Shiro. Those for me?”
“Hi, Katie, and no.” Shiro pulled the plate of brownies toward his chest. “If your mother says no more desserts, then no more desserts for you.”
“Kiss-up,” Katie said.
“Watch it, Katie,” Colleen said pointing her spatula at her. “You all promised to be on your best behavior today.”
“Matt calls him a kiss-up too.”
“Matt says it as a term of endearment,” Shiro said with a smirk. “Ah, Keith, you haven’t met Katie Holt yet, right? Matt’s little sister and gremlin extraordinaire. Katie, this is Keith. He’s a cadet at the Garrison. Top flier of his class,” he added with a note of pride in his voice, thumping Keith on the shoulder. “Katie’ll probably be applying to Garrison next year, so she may be a future classmate of yours. Scratch that, she definitely will be, she’s already nearly as good with computers as her brother.”
Katie snorted. “Nearly? I can code circles around him. If I was a couple years older, you can bet I’d be on that Kerberos mission too.”
“But for now, you’re here on Earth with us,” Colleen said. “And your job right now is to set out Shiro’s brownies for him, okay? And no eating them, you’ve had enough sugar to last you a week already.”
“We’ll see,” Katie said, stepping forward to take the brownies from Shiro and moving back to the dessert table.
Colleen sighed, rolling her eyes before turning back to Shiro. “All right, let’s not let these things get cold. You two want burgers or hot dogs?”
“Burgers for both of us,” Shiro answered. “Please and thank you.”
Colleen set buns onto paper plates for both of them before adding the patties and handing them off, and with a nod of thanks, Shiro led Keith down the tables to scoop up toppings and sides. He grabbed a large handful of the cookies Katie had been eating, looking around as if worried she was going to swoop back in and steal them from his plate - as far as Keith could tell, she had simply vanished from the yard, maybe slipped back into the house while he wasn’t paying attention, but he decided to take a cue from Shiro and be on his guard anyway - and passed two of the cookies to Keith before pulling two cans of lemonade from the cooler beside the dessert table before motioning Keith to follow him farther into the yard.
Keith balanced his plate carefully as they walked, one hand on top of the food to keep his potato chips from falling to the ground. He was nearly bowled over by two kids running past him right between him and Shiro, and right before they reached seats at one of the folding tables scattered throughout the yard, something cold nudged against his leg that made him jump, but he did manage to get all the way there with nothing being dropped. And the thing that had nudged him turned out to be the nose of a bull terrier, who wagged his tail enthusiastically while staring at Keith’s plate with shining eyes. Keith relented, ripping a piece of his hamburger bun off and handing it to the dog as he took his seat.
The dog wolfed it down without pausing to chew, then jumped up and put his front paws on the table, tail wagging even harder as his snout reached for more of Keith’s food. Shiro laughed. “I should have warned you,” he said. “Once Bae Bae knows you’re a sucker for the puppy dog eyes, he’ll never stop his begging.”
“Sorry,” Keith said.
“Hey, don’t apologize, I fell for it too my first time visiting. Hey Bae Bae!” He clicked his tongue, and the dog’s ears perked up as he turned to Shiro. “Ready?” Shiro said, lifting his clenched fist. Bae Bae stared intently. “Fetch!” Shiro turned around and tossed something Keith didn’t see across the yard, and Bae Bae took off, tongue flopping to the side of his mouth as he ran.
“What did you throw?” Keith asked.
“Nothing,” Shiro said. “Bae Bae’s not exactly as smart as the rest of the Holts. So.” He gestured toward Keith’s plate. “Go ahead, take a bite, tell me if you like it.”
Keith lifted the burger and bit into it, chewing slowly as Shiro watched eagerly. “All right,” Shiro said as Keith swallowed. “Is it amazing?”
“I’ve only had one bite,” Keith said.
“Okay, fine, take a few more.”
Keith did, contemplating the bite as he chewed, then nodded. “Yeah, it’s really good.”
“Best burger you ever tasted?”
“Uh… I mean, I really like the ones over at Larrison’s diner.”
Shiro raised a brow. “Wow, Keith. You’re really going to do Colleen dirty like that.”
“I didn’t say I didn’t like the burger. Just, it’s not the best burger ever.”
“You know what, maybe it’s a matter of cheese complementing her burgers better than it does at Larrison’s. Suppose we’ll have to try to scrounge up some no-lactose cheese somewhere and come back sometime so you can try again. See if that - ah, Major Whitaker, good to see you.” He cut himself off as a middle-aged man took the seat across from him.
“Lieutenant,” the man said. “You read that article that came out this morning on that exoplanet survey satellite? If I might bend your ear for a few minutes, got some ideas about getting some collaboration worked out with the data we get from Kerberos.”
Keith chewed silently, letting his focus drift to his food as Shiro delved into conversation with the other man. Some of the stuff they were mentioning Keith could understand from his Garrison classes, but other parts were above his pay grade. He had finished the burger and had moved on to his chips by the time Whitaker spotted someone else he needed to talk to and took his leave.
“Sorry about that,” Shiro said, turning back to Keith with a little smile. “He tends to get right into talking, doesn’t bother with formalities like introducing himself.”
“That’s okay,” Keith said.
“You know, if you’d like, this can be a bit of opportunity to meet some of the other people involved in the Garrison’s manned missions. Considering how easily you’ve already taken to piloting, some of these people may be future crewmates of yours. Let’s see.” He turned in his chair. “Colonel Molina there, she was on the flight crew to the Garrison’s first expedition to Enceladus, and was one of the engineers who designed the Kerberos’ cockpit layout. That woman she’s with - crap, can’t remember if they’re fiancées still or wives now. Ah, well, not important. Uh, Dr. Velitchkov’s the one in line at the grill now, he’s our propulsion engineer, part of mission control. Captain Hashim’s mission control too, our flight dynamics officer. She’s the one over at the cornhole boards, those boys are her stepsons. Oh, the man at the table right there under the tree - ”
“Uh, Shiro,” Keith said. “This is - this is a lot of people to keep track of.”
“Right. Sorry, you’re right. Well, hey, if there’s anyone of interest you want me to introduce you to, I will, but set your own pace, all right? If you wanna just eat your chips in peace, that’s fine too.”
“Thank you.” Keith dipped a chip into the baked beans on his plate, munching on it as he glanced around at the gathered guests. Already he had forgotten every name Shiro had just told him, and the faces crowded around the yard were blurring together in his mind until they all looked the same. He shook his head, focusing on his food as Shiro chattered with a couple of other Garrison staff who came by the table. He nodded each time Shiro introduced him, but that was the only contribution he made to the conversations.
The meal was able to pass easily that way until one officer asked to borrow Shiro from the table, wanting to introduce him to his young daughter who apparently wanted to be an astronaut some day and was a very ardent Shiro fan. Shiro flashed Keith an apologetic smile as he got up. “I’ll only be a few minutes,” he said.
Keith nodded and waved him away, but the meal didn’t last him the rest of those few minutes, since he was already halfway through his dessert - two of Shiro’s not-homemade brownies - when he left. Once his plate was emptied, he sat at the table, unsure of what to do next. The people seemed louder when Shiro wasn’t next to him, the yard smaller and the smoke from the grill thicker.
He swung his legs for half a minute, thinking of tracking Shiro down and dragging him back over, but thought better of it. There were things to do at the cookout - cornhole boards and a badminton net were set up, and there were plenty of people just talking and laughing to pass the time - but they all required nerves and social energy that Keith simply didn’t have today.
Finally he settled on tracking down that dog and playing with him for a bit, and after scanning the yard, spotted his tail following someone through the back door of the house. Keith stood from his seat, moving to enter the house too, and tried not to draw attention to himself from the few people who had gathered in the kitchen. Instead he looked around for Bae Bae, and went to the stairs when he heard a jingling collar and the sound of paws climbing up the steps.
He hesitated at the bottom of the staircase, wondering if he was invading the Holts’ privacy by going up there, but decided he could at least check to see if the dog was just up in the hallway, not in anyone’s room. So he followed up the stairs and spotted Bae Bae. Not in the hall, but through an open doorway, lying on his back in a bedroom with his paws dangling in the air and his tongue flopped out, seemingly waiting for a belly rub. The other occupant of the room, though, hadn’t seemed to have noticed him there, since she had headphones on and was concentrating on what appeared to be some sort of fantasy MMO on the computer screen. Katie, Keith remembered, that’s what her name was.
And even though she hadn’t noticed anyone else around, Bae Bae did, and he rolled over, wagging his tail at the sight of Keith and letting out a bark. Katie jumped a little in her seat, lowering her headphones and turning around. “Uh,” she said. “If you’re looking for the bathroom, it’s the next door over.”
“No, I, uh - ” Keith cleared his throat. “I was actually just - I was following - ” He gestured toward Bae Bae, suddenly realizing how childish it probably seemed to have left the cookout to focus on following the pet around.
Katie, though, didn’t seem to think much of it, since she just shrugged and gestured him inside. “Go nuts. He likes scratches right behind the ears.”
“Okay.” Keith slowly entered the room and lowered himself to give Bae Bae the scratches, and he thumped his tail and panted eagerly at the petting. Keith glanced back at Katie’s screen. She seemed to be playing as some sort of troll or ogre carrying a hulking maul, and a picture of the character’s face in the top-left corner labeled her as Pidgeotto321 above a half-full health bar. “So, um, what - what are you doing up here?”
“I live here,” Katie answered.
“I mean, up here instead of at the cookout?”
“Oh.” She shrugged again. “I got bored. Been to a lot of these Kerberos things for Matt and Dad. After a while they’re all the same. And I always get the same questions. Oh, are you going to go to the Garrison too, follow in your big brother’s footsteps? Like they think I’m only interested in space to copy him. Or, wow, a whole year without your dad and brother, are you gonna miss them? Yeah, no shit I’m gonna miss them. Still say they could’ve waited a few years to go on this mission, wait until I’m old enough to go too, but…” She trailed off, grimacing. “God, sorry. Didn’t mean to ramble.”
“S’okay,” Keith mumbled.
“Just, ugh.” Katie sighed. “I’m excited for them, I really am, but it’s also kinda like, once the mission’s over and they’re back, it’ll be a relief, you know? Like, it’ll all stop being this big looming thing we gotta all prepare for. You been to many of these event things with Shiro?”
“A couple,” Keith said. “And I, uh, I get it. I’m gonna miss him too.”
Katie let out a little thoughtful hum before removing her headphones all the way and turning in her seat toward him. “So, like, out of curiosity, what are you two anyway?”
“Hm?” said Keith.
“You and Shiro. Are you cousins?”
“Um, no. Did - did he say we were?”
Katie shook her head. “Was just a theory. You look like you might be Japanese too, but not as much as Shiro, so I figured you couldn’t be full brothers, but you could be cousins. Or half-brothers.”
“Oh. Yeah, I’m - I might be, I guess.” Keith didn’t actually know his ethnicity. His surname was probably Japanese, and he had seen on some of his social workers’ paperwork in the past that he had been marked down as mixed-race, but that was as specific as it got. His dad had died before Keith even knew what ethnicity was, and so had never asked about it, and of course his mom was just a giant question mark as he didn’t even know what she looked like.
“But you know, um - ” He cleared his throat. “Even if so, it’s not like all Japanese people are related.”
“Well, obviously,” Katie said, rolling her eyes. “But he invited you to a family cookout, right? Just assumed that probably meant you were related somehow. Are you?”
Keith blinked at her. His hand stopped scratching Bae Bae, and the dog nudged him in an attempt to regain his attention, but Keith was too focused on Katie right now to pay any mind. “What do you mean? He said it was a Kerberos cookout.”
“Yeah, for the Kerberos team and their families. That’s what the invitation Mom e-mailed out said. Most everyone else brought their spouses and kids, but obviously you’re not Shiro’s husband or son, so, you know. I was just wondering.”
“Oh. Um, we’re - he’s kind of, um, he helped me with - with applying to the Garrison and stuff, and uh, we - he’s done some, uh - ” He cleared his throat. “You said the bathroom was the next door down?”
“Uh-huh,” Pidge said, frowning. “You okay?”
“Yeah.” Keith stood up. “Just, uh, just need to pee, that’s all.”
“Okay. Well, have fun.” She turned back to her computer as Keith left.
He didn’t head to the bathroom, though, and instead went back down the stairs and toward the yard. He didn’t get all the way there, though, because Shiro was in the kitchen, casting Keith a relieved smile at his entrance. “Hey, I was wondering where you ran off to!” His smile receded a bit as he caught Keith’s expression. “Something up?”
“No,” Keith said. “No, um, no, just - just, I was - I didn’t - ”
“Here.” Shiro swooped in to usher him away from the kitchen, where his stammering had started to attract attention, and into the Holts’ living room instead. “Now,” he said. “Tell me what’s wrong.”
“Nothing’s wrong,” Keith said. “I just, um… why - why didn’t you tell me this was a family cookout?”
Shiro frowned, brows drawing pensively together before slowly asking, “Are… you upset by that?”
“No. Well, I mean, I - I’m not upset, but - but - why am I here?”
“What do you mean?”
“This is supposed to be a family thing. I’m not - I shouldn’t be here. I should go - ”
“Hey, hey,” Shiro said softly. “Keith, it’s okay. It’s fine. I’m sorry, bud, I hadn’t realized that this was going to be distressing for you. I should have asked you ahead of time, if you were comfortable with going to a family event. That’s on me.”
“No, that’s not - why me? You’ve got family. Actual family.”
Shiro’s frown deepened. “Well, uh, my parents are about a ten-hour drive from here. Seems like a long way to travel for one cookout. But Keith - ”
“What about Adam? He’s your fiancé, you should have brought him, you - ”
“Keith, I am sorry. I never meant to make you uncomfortable. I just thought…” He let out a breath. “You know, for a long time growing up, I wanted a little brother, and lately, helping you out with school and… well, with everything we’ve been doing, I suppose I’ve started thinking of you as - well, regardless, I’m sorry if that was overstepping your boundaries. If you don’t want me to think of you that way, I won’t. I promise.”
Keith bit his lip, shaking his head. That wasn’t it, it really wasn’t. After all, hadn’t he himself started to look at Shiro that way too? The guy was the perfect role model, had taken Keith under his wing and asked for nothing in return, had been there through every misstep Keith had made as a cadet and every low point, taught him about flying and riding hoverbikes and boxing and life. If Keith pictured the perfect big brother, he pictured Shiro.
But lots of people probably fantasized about having a big brother who was perfect.
People didn’t fantasize about having a little brother who was a needy, reckless screw-up.
“You - you shouldn’t,” Keith choked out. “You should - you should have a really good family. Your family should be really good people.”
“Keith, what do you mean?”
“I mean… you’re Shiro.”
“You’re Keith.”
Keith huffed. “I - I don’t get it. Why do you bother? You’re supposed to - you can do better.”
“Keith - ”
“You’re supposed to save being ‘family’ for people who are related to you. Or - or for - for when people have earned it. You can’t just throw it around like that, it - that’s not how it works. You’re supposed to - ”
He hadn’t realized his throat was tightening up until he choked on his words, and immediately, there were arms around him, and Shiro’s head was on his shoulder, speaking softly in his ear. “God, Keith. You’ve… people have really done a number on you, haven’t they?”
“I - ”
“You don’t have to earn anything from me, okay? I promise Keith. I like you. I like spending time with you, I like teaching you. I like making you feel better when you’re down, I like that you pretend to like my cooking.”
“I like your - ”
“No you don’t, but I like that you’ll lie for me. I like watching you succeed. I like seeing you grow. In my eyes, that makes you family. It’s not some elite class you’ve got to work your way into, Keith. It doesn’t matter what I’m ‘supposed’ to do, that’s not how family works. I don’t have to call you my brother or anything, not if you don’t like it - ”
“I, um,” Keith said softly, “I didn’t - I didn’t say I don’t like it. I’m just…”
“Not ready for it?”
“... I dunno?”
Shiro nodded. “That’s okay. That’s your call. But don’t you ever think that it’s not something you deserve, Keith. Don’t ever think that. Because it’s not true, not one bit.”
Keith nodded, sniffing before mumbling, “Okay.”
Shiro gave him a firm pat on the back before pulling out of the hug. “Now,” he said. “Matt was outside a few minutes ago, and he thinks he and Sam can beat the two of us at cornhole. You up for helping me crush his self-esteem?”
“Uh-huh,” Keith said, giving Shiro a hesitant smile.
“Attaboy. Come on, we’ll let him know we’re ready.”
He wrapped his arm around Keith’s shoulders and steered him back toward the kitchen, and as he did, Keith cleared his throat. “Um, Shiro?”
“Yeah?”
“If - if you wanna call me your brother, just, every once in a while - so I can, um, maybe test it out, see if I can get used to it - that, uh… that’d be okay, I think.”
Shiro grinned. “Will do, little brother.”

When your legs don't work like they used to before, and I can't sweep you off of your feet
Ji Hoon’s hectic schedule pisses him off. Yes, he’s workaholic before but now that something changed in his life, he’s lowkey wishing he didn’t take a lot of projects after Hyena. He didn’t want to leave Hye Soo’s house that morning after she took care of him. But he had to leave because of his manager. And when they met, his manager shouted at him “Where were you yesterday? Gosh, I tried calling you but you were out of reach!” He got scolded. “I’m sorry, okay? I was lost yesterday. I’ll just make it up to my schedule.” He explained. And that following week, he was fully booked.
Will your mouth still remember the taste of my love
One whole week without being with Hye Soo is hell for Ji Hoon. He couldn’t go to her house, they had different filming location and time; they almost didn’t see each other on set. It’s frustrating him. When he got a chance and a bit of time, he went to her, “Hey, I’m sorry I couldn’t drive you home these days. My schedule is always full.” He told her, faintly. As usual, she’d smile at him brightly, as if reassuring him that everything will be alright soon, “It’s okay, Ji Hoon-ssi. Just focus and do your best. You can do it!” She said then tapped his shoulder. Ji Hoon smield at her but he sighed when he heard his manager calling him again. Hye Soo nods at him and then went on her way.
Will your eyes still smile from your cheeks
Ji Hoon can see every tagged post on his IG. Even when he doesn’t follow Hye Soo’s IG account, he gets notified whenever she makes a post and tags him in it. He’ll laugh at her tagged locations and her funny captions. He’ll text her whenever he can and sometimes DM her whenever he finds a funny post. “Why do you always tag me on my nose?” he texted her. Minutes later, she replied, “Because those are my Himalayas.” And he’ll burst out laughing after reading her text.
And darling I will be loving you 'til we're 70
Ji Hoon made sure his manager fixes his schedule so he’ll be free during the last filming day of Hyena. It’s also their last scene together at the pub with Team H. He’s so happy when his manager told him he can have the day off. During breaks, he’d whisper to Hye Soo, “I wanna eat all of this.” He pointed at the food on their table. Hye Soo’s eyes widened and shook her head, “You can’t do that. The production would have to pay for that.” She whispers back at him while giggling. Like a child, he’d pout and she’d let out her belly laugh.
And baby my heart could still fall as hard at 23
Ji Hoon would sneakily take a bite from the snacks and Hye Soo would lightly hit his hand. They’re like teenagers fighting playfully over their lunchboxes. “Hey, do you have anything on your schedule today?” He asks her. She didn’t look at her as she’s looking at the food, “I have to shoot my last scene later at Song&Kim. Why?” Ji Hoon didn’t get to tell her his plan to pick her up because they started filming again. After their scene at the pub, Hye Soo had to go to her next filming site and Ji Hoon had to stay at the pub for his last scene.
And I'm thinking 'bout how people fall in love in mysterious ways
The last scene went well. Ji Hoon did his best so they don’t have to shoot a lot and they got the scene at 3 takes. He couldn’t leave because his co-actors and staff started cheering, “Yoon Hee Jae! Yoon Hee Jae!” So he stayed there for a while as he acknowledges their regards. But he’s glancing at his watch to check the time, he’s not sure of Hye Soo’s schedule. He’s worried that he won’t be able to pick her up there. So when his manager went to him, he quickly whispers, “I have to go now. Please, wrap this up for me. Pleaaase?” His manager looks at him, his pleading face made his manager sigh. “Alright. Go now.” Ji Hoon almost jumped but he stopped himself and quickly went on his way.
Maybe just the touch of a hand
He quickly drove to the Song&Kim building. He’s silently praying she’s still there. As soon as he arrives at the parking lot, he saw her. She’s with her manager and hair stylist, they’re walking towards her car. He saw her nodded at them and they bowed to her. They left her as she scrabbles through her bag, probably looking for her keys. So she’s driving today, he thought. He gets out of his car and walk towards her. She probably heard his footsteps as she looks at his direction. He smiled at her.
Oh me I fall in love with you every single day
He stops in front of her, smiling at her. “Lemme drive you home?” he asks her. She lets out a chuckle that made his heart skip a beat. Ah, I don’t mind making this woman laugh all my life, he thought. “Aren’t you busy today?” She asks. He tilts his head and pouts, like a little boy who acts cute in front of his crush. “Manger-nim told me I can take the day off.” He smiled at her. He extended his hand to her, asking for her bag. Hye Soo shook her head while smiling as she gives him her bag.
And I just wanna tell you I am
Ji Hoon started talking about his busiest week. For some reason, he always wants to tell her how his day went, what he had for his lunch and every random thing he did. He’s so comfortable to talk about anything with her. And to his delight, he noticed her listening to him. “Ahh, I have to shoot my Burger King CF next week.” He tells her. He glanced at her and she blinks, “They wanted Prince Lee Chang but I suggested I’d act as Yoon Hee Jae too.” He said. “I bet Yoon Hee Jae would love to show off how good looking he is.” She said. Ji Hoon laughed at it.
So honey now, take me into your loving arms
They arrived at her house and he’s still talking. Of course, he’s also asking about her and her day. “Did you have a lot of fun today?” he asked. Hye Soo didn’t look at him as she walks inside the house. “Yes, it was fun. Ji Eun cried like a baby.” She laughs. He’ll smile while listening. When they’re inside, he started wondering. Imagining how they’ll spend this day together and how he’ll confess. He took off his baseball cap and fixed his hair. Hye Soo was telling him something but his mind is too occupied so he didn’t hear her.
Kiss me under the light of a thousand stars
If they were normal people and there’s no pandemic at the moment, he’d take her to beautiful places. Where they can see the stars; away from the city and they won’t have to mind the world behind their backs. He’d take her to places where they can eat their snacks and where they can drink their coffee peacefully. Without worrying about what will people say; without worrying about scandals and articles that would be written when their relationship was revealed. That’s his dream. But he’s not complaining, as long as he is with Hye Soo, this reality with her is always better than that dream of his.
Place your head on my beating heart
He didn’t realize he’s spacing out as they eat together. She was talking about her documentary. When he’s finally on his right mind, he utters, “I missed you.” He noticed her stops chewing and blinks. He wanted to chuckle because of that. Wow, I caught her off guard?, he thought. “You beat me. I was gonna tell you that first.” Hye Soo said. Now, it was his turn to stop and blink at her. She caught him off guard. So, she missed me too, a voice at the back of his mind screams. He can feel his heart dancing.
I'm thinking out loud, maybe we found love right where we are
Ji Hoon’s favourite spot is on the floor while they drink their tea. It’s his favourite spot because he can see her fully as she sits on her couch while drinking her tea. It’s like watching your favourite show no matter how many times you’ve seen it. Today, Hye Soo played some Coldplay songs. He loves Coldplay too. When the song A Sky Full of Stars played, he tells her, “Oh, that’s my favourite song of them.” Then he started singing along. He always wanted to sing for her, he just can’t find the right timing. But now, he doesn’t care about timing anymore. It’s his favourite song and he’d sing it to his favourite person.
When my hair's all but gone and my memory fades and the crowds don't remember my name
After the song, it started pouring outside. Ji Hoon looks outside and smiles. He loves the rain. They’re both staring outside as it pours. “You know, I like it when it rains.” Hye Soo tells him. Ji hoon looks at her. He realizes that moment, as much as he loves the rain; it’s a different feeling when he’s staring at the person he loves while it rains. He realizes how lucky he is; that falling in love with her was the best thing that’s ever happened to him. He won’t regret it even if he risk his all; even if he lose it all; because it’s her. It’s Kim Hye Soo.
When my hands don't play the strings the same way, mm, I know you will still love me the same
Their fame will fade eventually, that’s for sure. But also one thing’s for sure, he’ll still love her the same. He’ll still love her even in her weakest, in her darkest moments. He’ll still love her brown eyes even when it’s filled with tears. He’ll still love her skin even when it’s all wrinkly. He’ll still love her even when her hair turns to white. Ji Hoon looks at Hye Soo who also seems lost in her thoughts. He smiled as he stares at her. He reaches for his phone, “Don’t look for me. I’m in a safe place.” He sends a text message to his manager. He puts his phone on silent mode and speaks, “Can I sleep here?” She looks flushed. I wonder what she’s thinking, he thought. Hye Soo asked him a lot of questions that made him chuckle, he couldn’t resist her charm when she bites her lower lip and gave him a faint smile afterwards. “I’m allowed to stay here until tomorrow.” He tells her. He’s happy and excited but he hid it in his smile.
Baby your smile's forever in my mind and memory
They’ve finished watching her favourite indie movie and they ran out of snacks. Ji Hoon feels hungry and so he volunteered cooking an Italian dish for their dinner. He doesn’t mind cooking; he’s more than willing to cook for her. I wish she’d allow me, he thought. Hye Soo helped him in cutting the ingredients and after that, she patiently wait for him to finish. But before finishing, he called her to have a taste. “Hmm!” Hye Soo said and gave him thumbs up. He smiled at her and took off her apron that he used. They ate their dinner together.
I'm thinking 'bout how people fall in love in mysterious ways, maybe it's all part of a plan
After having dinner, they have nothing else to do. They’ll look at each other and giggle. “What should we do?” he asks her and pokes her on her arm. He can see her thinking, “How about new set of movies?” she said. But Ji Hoon shook his head. He’s slowly getting tired of watching movies; he wants try something else. “Let’s watch movies later, how about an activity?” he suggested. He saw a glimpse of unease in her eyes. He’s a bit worried now, what if they’d fight over trivial things like this and ended up breaking each other’s hearts?
I'll just keep on making the same mistakes
Ji Hoon sighs to clear his mind. He won’t let that happen to them. He’s not a teenager who’d throw tantrums if he doesn’t get what he wants. Yes, he’s stubborn. But he knows he’s soft when it comes to Hye Soo. He’s willing to adjust to her needs and to her wants. He’s about to say yes to her new set of movies but she speaks before he could say a word, “Do you wanna try painting?” When he heard that, excitement was all over his face. He couldn’t hide it so Hye Soo chuckles and nods, “Okay, I’ll get you some materials.” He nods at her, “I’ll wait here and make a quick call.” He said.
Hoping that you’ll understand
He watches her enter a room. Ah, so that’s her studio, he thought. He looks away and reached for his phone. He forgot that he put it on silent mode and now he’s getting a lot of calls and texts from his manager. He answers one of his manager’s call, “Hey! What were you thinking? What do you mean ‘don’t look for me’? Are you crazy?!” His manager screams so he puts away his phone from his ear. “Relax, manager-nim. I’m fine, okay? I’ll confess today so please just support me. Alright?” he calmly said. “Are you sure about this?” He can hear his manager’s hesitation. He smiles, “I trust my love. I’m sure of this.” He made sure he sounded confident as he is.

After ending the call, he followed Hye Soo to the studio. Maybe she needs some help, he thought. When he opened the door, he was amazed. The room is full of paintings and art materials. He looked around and when his eyes landed on Hye Soo, his eyes caught the canvas she’s holding. It’s merely a sketch. But he could recognize it well. “What’s that?” He asks her. His eyes were glued on the canvas. He couldn’t believe she’d paint him. He never thought he’d see his face on something she loves doing; in her painting.

Ji Hoon gets the canvas from Hye Soo. He’s still staring at it as if it’s his first child. Hye Soo was talking behind his back and he couldn’t hear her because he’s still dazed by her painting. He sat on the couch while still holding the canvas, “It’s me.” He says while smiling at it. “It’s not even finished yet. Why are you so happy?” He’s speechless. Yes, it’s just a sketch of his face and he’s like a child being so happy about it. But he can’t help it. He’s so happy, it’s just like when he heard her say those three words that night. If he could marry her right there and then, he would; with all of his heart, without hesitations.
Place your head on my beating heart
He looks at her with his puppy eyes as she sat beside him. She asks why is he being like that and he’d just let out a sigh. He puts down the canvas and holds her hands. There’s nothing to fear now, he knows she feels the same way. And this is the right moment for him to confess. So he started talking, “I know you’re way out of my league. You’re my sunbae and I know I shouldn’t feel this way. But I can’t help it.” He looks down to gather his confidence and compose himself. He’s losing it to her. “I think I like you, Kim Hye Soo sunbaenim.” Sunbaenim? What the hell, Ji Hoon, he thought. So he shook his head and looked at her, “No, no, scratch that. I think I’ve fallen in love with you. Hye Soo-ssi.” He smiled at her, not showing his teeth because he suddenly felt shy when he dropped the honorifics.
I'm thinking out loud, that maybe we found love right where we are, oh
Hye Soo laughs at him. “Hey, don’t laugh at me.” He said while pouting his lips and he looks down to hide it. When he heard Hye Soo stops laughing, he anticipated her next move. She cups his face to make him look at her and then she holds his hands again. He’s still frowning but she’s smiling at him, “I know you heard what I said that night.” Ji Hoon’s felt his heart skipped a beat, his eyes widened. She knew? How did she.. woah, he thought while looking at her. He waited for her to say something, she nods, “I wasn’t supposed to say that out loud but I couldn’t stop myself.” He saw her cheeks turn red before she looks down to hide it. He smiles. Adorable, he thought. “I don’t think I can say that again—“ It’s now Ji Hoon’s turn to pull his hands and cup her face. She’s still blushing “It’s okay. You can say that again whenever you’re ready, whenever you want to.”

Ji Hoon won’t force her to say those words again. He can wait. He can wait to hear those words again even if it takes forever. He gently squeezed her face. “Hey.” Her voice becomes muffled because of the squeeze. He laughs at her because he finds it so adorable. This is why everyone loves her, this is why I love her, he thought while looking at her fondly. He feels heavenly and can’t help but to tell her, “I love you.” And saying those words feels oddly satisfying for him. He smiles at her then let go of her face. “That’s it?” His smile fades when he heard her asks him that. She sounds dumbfounded so he gave her a questioning look. “You forgot this.” Ji Hoon left this world when Hye Soo leaned in to kiss him. But of course, he went back to respond to her kiss.

Anyone in Ji Hoon’s position would lose control. He’d always lose his control when it comes to her. It showed in their second kissing scene. Every time they’d kiss, it feels like they both found their missing puzzle piece in each other. He felt it first on their first kissing scene. And now, he loses his mind while kissing her deeply. His hands wander through her body. He touches every part, as if he worship every inch of her body. To his delight, she’s responding to his touch. Arching her back and hearing her soft moans makes him want her more. He kisses her again and moves against her, they both got lost to their own world.
Place your head on my beating heart
This moment they shared will be engraved to Ji Hoon’s memories forever. Spending the night under the same blanket with the woman he loves is priceless. He runs his fingers through her hair and kisses it. Then he whispers to her, “I love you.” It’s the nth time he said those words to her. And he’ll never get tired telling her that. He heard her chuckles, “I lost count of how many times you’ve said that.” Then he felt her hold his hand and kisses it. “I love you, too.” He heard her uttered as she buries her face on his chest and hugged him. Ji Hoon could feel her breathe against his skin and it makes his heart beat fast. Then he’d hear her say something again, “Hope this lasts.” He smiles at that and pulls her closer to his body. “This will last. You’ll be my last love.” He whispers to her. Then they both fell asleep in each other’s arms.
I'm thinking out loud, that maybe we found love right where we are, oh
Ji Hoon wakes up with his numb arms. He winced at the pain when Hye Soo moves but he smiled at her. I don’t mind losing my arms for this beauty, he thought. He couldn’t stop himself so he kisses her. First, on her forehead, “I love you.” Then on her eyes, “The only pair of eyes I’ll love.” On her nose, “My little Himalayas.” He giggles. Then he kisses her on her lips, “The only woman I love.” Hye Soo moves again and she opens her eyes, she’s awake. He smiles and greets her good morning but she draws back, “I don’t smell good in the morning.” Then she covers her mouth. But Ji Hoon pulls her back to his arms and gave her a smack on her lips, “I still love you.”
Oh maybe we found love right where we are
They’re eating their breakfast when Ji Hoon speaks, “I already talked to my manager. Just tell me whenever you’re ready to reveal our relationship to the public.” He breathes heavily. He knows things will be hard for them when that happens. But he’ll be there for her. He won’t let her get hurt. He saw Hye Soo bites her lower lip and sighs. He reached for her hand on the table and gave her a reassuring smile. “Only when you’re ready.” He tells her. He’ll protect her no matter what happens.
And we found love right where we are

Summary: You and Loki had been best friends on Asgard, and he truly felt you were the only one who cared for him other than his mother. When you left for Midgard years ago, he returned once again to Earth, and spent time with you, and he *innocently* took you out for lunch, and it just became a flirtatious, Disney Musical Number mess.

“Loki!” You yelled, racing up the steps to the palace, a wide grin on your face. You were young, and still a child in most Asgardian’s eyes. 
Loki was sitting on the palace steps, an eyebrow raised. His hands were clasped in front of him on his lap. You sat down next to him panting from climbing the stairs. 
You offered him a smile, and he looked over his shoulder to stare at you with a questioning look. With a mischievous smirk, you leaned over to him. 
“Wanna go prank Thor?” You asked.
Loki’s eye’s went wide, and he gave you a wide smile, standing up. The two of you then ran down the steps. 
We change the weather, yeah.
I’m feelin’ heat in December when you’re around me
You were still young, but looked to be in your teens now. You were sitting on a rock, Thor standing and practicing his powers. You watched him carefully as you felt Loki approach you, and you turned as he sat next to you. It was one of the few moments he wasn't looking for trouble. 
You slung an arm around his shoulder, giving him a smile. 
I’ve been dancing on top of cars, and stumbling out of bars
I follow you through the dark, can’t get enough
You waved goodbye to Loki and Thor, as well as their parents. You were standing at the edge of the Bifrost. You had a sad look in your eye. You had to leave. You, despite being almost full Asgardian, had family on earth, and after your parents died in a fire, you had nowhere left to turn.
The brothers offered to house you, but you declined, stating ou needed to get to know the rest of your heritage. Plus, you didn't want to place that burden on the king and queen.

And, Baby you know it’s obvious
It’s been many years now, and you have been living on Earth, with your aunt and uncle. You’d even lost your accent, now having a fully American one at that. (Even though at random, usually inappropriate times, you’d drop back into your accent)
It’s a peaceful Sunday, and you’re out to the market to buy some fruit, and freshen up on some plums. As you were walking back from the Sunday market, however, a giant rainbow beam of light erupted in front of you, sending you stumbling backwards. The light vanished, leaving a tipsy Loki in it’s presence. 
He began to fall forward, and you gracefully caught him in your arms. You noticed he had a few injuries and that was probably why he seemed so off.
He looked up at you momentarily, before pushing himself off of you and clearing his throat, avoiding your intense gaze. 
I’m a sucker for you
You say the word and I’ll go anywhere blindly
Awkwardly, he glances over to you. Your eyes are wide and you’re examining him. His hair was no longer short, it was shoulder length, and his clothing was anything but casual. 
“What are you staring at, Mortal?” He asked harshly. He must not have recognized you. You frowned.
“Loki. I would have figured you’d remember your best friend.” You smirked.  Loki whipped around and stared you in the eye. Then his crystal blue eyes went wide.
“[Y/n]?” He asked, surprised. 
You rolled your eyes, placing a hand on your hip. “No shit.” Your smirk fell, and was replaced with a small smile. “Welcome back.”

It had been about two weeks since Loki arrived back on Earth. He’d been staying with you for a while, and constantly whining about how the food here was never as good as that on Asgard.
Of course, you had forgot all about how the food tasted on Asgard, and couldn't care less. Instead, you stuck to the usual boxed Mac and Cheese.
But, today was somehow different. You’d probably grown closer with Loki than ever before, even when you were on Asgard. You were just about to make a bowl of cereal for lunch, still dressed in pajamas from getting up so late. Obviously, Loki hadn’t bothered to wake you.
Despite being best friends, he was still a jack-ass sometimes.

Loki entered the room, eyeing your cereal in disgust. You regarded him with a raised eyebrow. “Can I help you?” You asked with a light chuckle.
Loki recomposes himself, and looked you in the eye. “Get ready, we’re going out.”
With that, he leaves the room. You furrow your eyebrows in confusion. “Okay then.” You set your cereal bowl on the counter, heading to your room to change, which you do. You end up changing into something casual, but which you thought was ‘cute’. It was a simple pair of high waisted jeans, and a t-shirt. You added on some random pieces of jewelry and slipped on your converse. 
“Alright, where are we going again?” You ask as you shut the door to your apartment. Loki looks you up and down, before continuing down the hall.
“Lunch.” You roll your eyes.
And you're making the typical me break my typical rules It's true, I'm a sucker for you, yeah
Around 10 minutes later of walking, you arrive at a semi-fancy resturant. You. eye it suspiciously. “Well then, somebody’s feeling generous.” You muttered to yourself as Loki found a seat. 
Sitting down, you pull off your sweatshirt, and stare at the menu. Unbeknownst to you, however, Loki was gazing at you from over his, watching your eyes scan the page.
Don't complicate it (yeah) 'Cause I know you and you know everything about me
You sat the menu down with a conflicted face. “Burger or Pasta...?” You asked yourself.
“Whichever you prefer, love.” Loki mumbles. Your eyes go wide. Loki had never called you that before. He looks up at you, a mischievous look in his eyes. “I think you’ll like the pasta more, though.”
You shut the menu, and raise a brow. “Is that so?”
Loki leans over the table, and looks over your surprised face with a casual smirk. “Believe me. I know you better than I know myself.”
Your face begins to heat up, but you won’t let that stop your witty comebacks. “Oh please. It’s been years, Loki. You barely know me at all. Meanwhile I know you like the back of my hand.”
Loki grins, and leans closer to whisper in your ear. “That’s where you’re wrong.”
He leans back and looks over his menu again casually, as if nothing had happened. You stare at him wide eyed, growing increasingly flustered. He’s never been this way around anyone before.
I can't remember (yeah) All of the nights I don't remember When you're 'round me (oh, yeah yeah)
After ordering, your food arrives, and you twist your fork through the noodles. You bring the food up to your mouth and bite down. The taste is sensational, and you try hard not to let your taste bud orgasm be known to the man across from you.
However your melting state alerts him, and he looks up from his own food with a classic Loki smirk™. You finish your first bite, swallowing hard and putting on your best stoic expression. 
“Mm.” You tried to say as you swallowed. 
“It was good, wasn’t it?” He asked.
You shrugged. “Decent.”
“For Midgardian food, yes.” Loki joked.
You gasped. “You mean my cooking isn’t good?” 
He rolled his eyes and gave you a look. “Please, Darling. Nothing compares to your beautifully cooked top ramen.” You raised an eyebrow.
“What’s with all the nicknames?” You asked. He continued to eat, giving you an innocent look.
“What nicknames?”

You finally managed to finish the pasta, giving into it’s wonderful taste. Sighing happily, you leaned back. 
Loki smiled at you. “How was it?” 
“Okay, fine. It was amazing.” You admitted.
He smirked. “I knew it.”
You rolled your eyes, looking away from those big blue eyes of his.

Soon enough, the bill was paid, and you were both walking outside the resturant. You tied your sweatshirt around your waist. “Where to now?” You asked.
Loki looked to you, confused. 
“Ooh! We should go to the park! Come on!” You were about to start sprinting down the street when Loki caught your arm, shaking his head.
“I really shouldn’t be out in public for any longer.” You looked at him worriedly.
“What? No! Please?” You asked, giving him the puppy-dog eyes. 
He immediately faltered, loosening his grip. He looked away, taking a deep breath. “Oh, fine.”
You grinned, grabbing his wrist and racing down the street, catching Loki by surprise. He, however smiled at your antics and rolled his eyes playfully.

The both of you were now entering the park, walking through as you talked mindlessly, whilst Loki got lost in your voice. 
You did things to him, things he couldn’t quite explain.

You noticed a playground, and suddenly grabbed Loki’s hand, beginning to run towards it making him stop in place, and jolt at the sudden contact. You stopped, being pulled back by Loki’s now stiff form. You gave him a questioning look.
“What is it?” You asked. Loki was staring at you now, with wide eyes. He shook his head.
“Nothing.” He said coldly. You gave him an odd look. 
“What’s up with you?” You asked. 
Loki turned. “Nothing! Alright?!” 
You were taken aback. “Obviously, it’s not nothing.”

Loki dared to meet your eyes, taking you in once again. 
That’s when he realized you were still holding his hand, tightly now.

You breathed easily, eyes trailing down to your connected hands. You immediately backtracked, and held back your hands, wide eyed.
“I am so sorry.” You stuttered. Loki shook his head, offering you a surprisingly gentle smile.

He then reached forward, taking your hand back, and placing it between his hands, which were cold, for obvious reasons. You didn’t mind though. It was a nice contrast to the hot summer day.
He moved to a nearby bench, dragging you with him.

He sat and looked down. You’d never seen the god so anxious before. It kind of worried you. “Is something wrong?” You asked him nervously.

“No, no...” He mumbled. “I just...wanted to tell you something.” 
He had you sit down on the bench beside him, and he took a deep breath.

“[Y/n]. I’ve known you for so long, and honestly, I’ve always seen you as one of the bravest, kindest, funniest people I know. You were always there for me when nobody else was, and I know how much it hurt to leave Asgard. At first I was mad, genuinely. But now, I think I know why you chose to come here. And I guess, I wanted to apologize or not visiting sooner...I just, I thought maybe you’d think of me as a monster....after what happened with New York.” He said. You mouth was hanging open slightly as you stared at him. 
“Oh, Loki...you could never be a monster...you’re amazing the way you are. But...y-you’ve never been this open before...” You stuttered. He chuckled, finally looking up to meet your gaze. That’s when you got lost in his eyes. His eyes had a tendency to do that to you. They always had, even on Asgard(which could make for some pretty awkward conversation).

He was now looking into your eyes, and was holding your hands. “Listen, [Y/n]. I don’t know what you’re doing to me. It’s like you can see right through me, and all I want to do is stare right back at you, to tell you everything. You’re the best friend anyone could ever ask for. You’re beautiful, and I could get lost in those eyes for days...I...I just...I think I’m in love with you.” Loki exclaims. You are stiff, and shocked. Nonetheless, you’re a blushing mess. You clear your throat and smile. 
“I...I don’t know what to say, Loki...this is all so sudden....and new, especially from you. I never expected...-” Loki’s smile faltered. You caught this quickly, however and your eyes softened. “I never expected you to feel the same way.” 
Loki locked eyes with you, and you smiled gently. You leaned forward and hugged him, taking Loki by surprise. He hesitantly hugged back. You stayed like this for a while, enjoying each-others embrace, while there was nobody around. Then, you released him, and looked away awkwardly. 
He smiled, taking your hand in his again, and placing a gentle kiss to the top of your hand, whilst looking up into your eyes. 
You were more than flustered, and you just started grinning like a maniac.
“I love you, [Y/n].” 
You shifted, resting your head on his shoulder. “I love you too, Loki.”

It started with an argument. Natalia didn’t often find reason to argue with John as they both tended towards being calm and reasonable individuals, but when an old family friend visited and started showing rekindled interest in Nat, things fell apart. Jack Tomlinson had grown up two doors down from Natalia and Ethan, and he had been interested in Nat since they were children. Things had never really worked out as Jack wasn’t Nat’s type at all, but they had remained friendly at least.
Jack showed up for their barbecue dinner one evening, hugging Ethan around the neck and ruffling his hair. Her family greeted him happily, clapping his back and shaking his hand. Natalia smiled at him warmly, going to shake his hand and getting tugged into a hug that lifted her off her feet.
“Woah, Jack!” Natalia gasped, patting his shoulders stiffly, having released John’s hand when she was lifted up.
“Nattie, honey, it’s been ages!” Jack gave her another squeeze before putting her down. John looked endlessly unimpressed, but he forced a smile when Natalia introduced them.
“Jack, hi. This is John, my boyfriend. John, this is Jack. He lived pretty much next door when we were growing up.” Natalia smiled between them, lacing her fingers with John’s and giving him a brief squeeze.
“Oh, wow. Nice to meet you, John.” Jack shook his hand, eying him, and John arched a brow ever so slightly. Natalia offered Jack a smile, uncomfortable with his attention. As she led John towards where Dog was wiggling around in the grass with Hailey rubbing his belly, Jack turned to Ethan.
“Since when does your sister date dudes your dad’s age?” Jack asked, raising his brows once he thought they were far enough away. Ethan huffed, elbowing him.
“Dude, don’t be a dick.” He muttered, “He’s not Dad’s age. Besides, the guy is nice. Don’t say I said anything, but she’s happier than I’ve ever seen her.”
Natalia was seething. John’s shoulders had tensed when they heard what Jack said, and even Ethan’s sweet comment hadn’t soothed it. She began to turn around, but John gripped her wrist tightly, guiding her over to where Hailey and Dog were waiting. Hailey made a face when she saw Jack talking to Ethan behind them, ruffling the dog’s ears.
“Is he sniffing around again, Nattie?” she asked, and Natalia sighed heavily, thumping down on the grass beside her. John, meanwhile, sat at the picnic table behind them.
“Maybe. He’s such a dick sometimes.” Natalia glanced back at John, then leaned her head on Hailey’s shoulder to whisper to her, “He said John was as old as my parents. He didn’t even have the common sense to wait until we were out of earshot. Can you imagine being that dense?”
“Oh, what an asshole! And who is he to be commenting on your relationships anyways? Nat, I’ve never seen you this happy. Even if he was your dad’s age, which he isn’t, I’d still like you guys together just because he makes you so happy.” Hailey insisted, and from the relaxation of John’s shoulders and the small smile pulling at his lips, it was clear he had heard her despite her trying to be quiet.
“What is it with family gatherings?” Natalia mused, “Someone always gets hurt feelings because someone else has a big mouth and no tact.”
“He isn’t even family. Frankly, I don’t know why anyone invited him. It’s not like we see him outside of these sorts of events.” Hailey rolled her eyes, leaning in to kiss Dog’s nose, giggling when he licked her cheek happily.

Hailey wiped at her face to brush away tears, gasping for air, “Stop Nat, you’re killing me!”
John sighed heavily, adjusting Nat in his lap so she wasn’t pressing into his groin. Ethan was groaning like he’d been shot, his head resting in Hailey’s lap. Luckily, Jack was still talking to their parents, so they didn’t have to deal with his reaction.

“Sorry.” Nat replied, not sounding the least bit contrite. John sighed, resting his chin on her shoulder. Jack walked over soon after, plopping down on the bench beside John and Natalia.
“What’s all the laughing about?” He asked, and a wicked smile spread across Hailey’s face. Nat’s eyes widened. Shit. But just as quickly as it came, Hailey softened and looked over at Jack.
“Inside joke.” She replied simply, primly, and Jack pouted in response.
“So, Nat, how did you two meet?” he asked, gesturing between her and John. She smiled fondly back at John, then shrugged the shoulder he wasn’t resting his chin on.
“Well, John moved to the same town and started coming to my bookstore.” Nat replied.
“Oh, you’re still doing that?” Jack asked, “I remember how proud you were when you got the place. Do you remember when I came and helped build your shelving?”
Natalia smiled small, “Of course I do. I know I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off, but I wasn’t that bad.”
“Nah, you were just frazzled. You had a lot going on.” Jack smiled, patting her knee. John bristled but didn’t say anything. The moment was broken when West called Natalia over to help her mother with the cooking. She kissed John’s cheek and got out of his lap, patting Jack’s shoulder as she passed him, while John worked on keeping himself in check. Luckily, Ethan got to talking with Jack, and John was able to listen to Hailey talk about the wedding. Something easy to tune out. Eventually, Ethan went to talk to his uncle, and Jack headed towards the house, which didn’t become a problem until he spotted Natalia and Jack talking at the barbecue. Jack was standing behind her while she flipped burgers, and she looked back and smiled at something he said.
It was stupid, but John began to notice things throughout the evening. First, Jack coaxed Natalia into climbing a massive tree with him, saying something about ‘for old time’s sake’. They both ended up on high branches, Jack holding onto Natalia’s shins while she leaned back and hung from the branch. She began to do sit ups just to show off, while Jack crowed and hollered about her being a beast. Even Ethan, West, and Hailey were joining in. Jack hung from that branch when she was done and did a couple of pull ups, then began the descent, helping Natalia where need be. Once on the ground, Nat returned to John and threw her arms around his neck, stealing a kiss.
“Your girlfriend has still got it!”
“What?” John stiffened, clearly taking that wrong, but Natalia simply laughed, too high on adrenaline to notice him being upset.
“I can still do sit ups while suspended!” Nat pressed kisses along his cheek, and then tension slowly receded.
Later, Uncle Thomas decided it would be a good idea to ask Natalia why she had never dated Jack, in front of everyone. Natalia had stuttered trying to answer without being an asshole, but it still made John a bit sick to his stomach.
The last straw was John fetching a glass of wine for Natalia and coming back to Jack asking her about what her uncle had brought up. He headed back to the summer house, walking because he needed the air, with Dog by his side. It took ages to walk back, but he made it even if he felt a bit like garbage by the time he got there. Well, more like garbage. The jealousy biting at him was making him feel ill, even more so because he knew it was stupid. He ended up in the shower, just to get some of the stress out and clean up.
Natalia noticed John was missing once she was able to extricate herself from the awkward conversation with Jack. She’d had to tell him, once again, that she was not, had never been, and would never be interested. And even if she was, she loved John and wanted a life with him, which she would never give up for Jack in a million years. It ended up being quite harsh, really, but he clearly needed it to be. Once that was over, she asked Hailey if she had seen John, who had last seen him in the living room. Ethan had last seen him at the barbecue. Her father had last seen him at the picnic table with Dog. Her mother had last seen him talking to her aunt.
Her aunt finally told her she’d seen him walking with Dog but didn’t know where he went. Thoroughly sick of the search, Natalia got on her bike and drove home, hoping he was there while also angry that he might be. Dog was sleeping on the couch when she arrived, and the shower was running, which eased the worry in her gut. That left the anger.
Frowning and frustrated, Natalia grabbed one of John’s belts and his discarded tie, leaving them beside the bed. She shed her clothing, swapping it out for a set of black lace lingerie she’d brought to surprise him with and the stiletto heels she was planning on wearing to the wedding reception. She headed over to her bag and pulled out the bottle of bourbon she’d brought to celebrate with, cracking it open and taking a swig from it, followed by another. The shower turned off and she crossed one leg over the other, leaning back against the bed and taking another swig.
John exited the bathroom in his boxers and t-shirt, stopping at the sight that awaited him. His breath hitched, and Natalia raised her brows at him, looking like he should know exactly why she was upset. She raised the bottle to her lips again, taking another swig while staring him down.

One week later, Jungshin’s brother dropped you off at the airport far too early in the morning (Jungshin had, of course, paid him by filling up the fridge and pantry before leaving since he would be staying at the house with Simba while you were gone). You were, unsurprisingly, very chipper and eager to go. Jungshin was still waking up.
You checked your bags before heading to your gate, and with about an hour to kill, you fished your Kindle out of your bag and began to read.
“What’re you reading?” Jungshin murmured, leaning his head on your shoulder and closing his eyes.
“It’s called Manhunt. It’s about the search for John Wilkes Booth right after he assassinated Lincoln.”
“Mm, cool.”
“I’ll wake you up when it’s time to board,” you whispered, kissing his forehead.
“Thanks.”
You felt the exact moment when Jungshin fell asleep; his head got a bit heavier on your shoulder, and then a few moments later, he started breathing more deeply. You smiled to yourself, reaching over and very gently resting a hand on his thigh.
Ugh, you just loved him so much. You were so freaking excited about this trip.
When the flight attendant came over the loudspeaker to announce it was time to board, you put your Kindle away then reached over to pat Jungshin’s cheek.
“Jungshin,” you whispered.
His brow furrowed, but his eyes stayed closed. “Hmm?”
“It’s time to get on the plane, honey.” You kissed his nose, kind of forgetting there were people around.
He let out a sigh, sitting up a little. “Okay,” he croaked.
You boarded not too much longer after that, finding your seats and putting your carry-on bags up in the overhead compartment. Jungshin, ever the gentleman, allowed you to sit in the window seat. He really didn’t care about sitting next to a stranger, and he could always lean over you if he wanted to see the view.
Once you were seated and buckled, Jungshin slid down in his seat so he could lower his head onto your shoulder again.
“Awww,” you chuckled softly, bringing a hand up to pat his cheek. “Sleepy baby.”
Jungshin reached up and took your hand, linking his fingers through yours and holding it in his lap. This made it difficult for you to put in your earbuds and listen to music, but did you move your hand away? Absolutely not.
The plane took off without any delays, thankfully, and you were on your way to New York in no time.
The flight was a little less than two hours long, which was honestly the perfect amount of time for you. You weren’t terrified of flying, but you didn’t enjoy it, either. You listened to your music the whole time to help keep you relaxed, and holding Jungshin’s hand helped, too (even though he was asleep for all two hours). 
Of course, when it came time to do your skincare, holding his hand wasn’t very helpful. But, again, did you move your hand away? Absolutely not.
When you finally landed, you put your free arm across Jungshin’s chest to keep him from falling forward. He woke up immediately, yawning and rubbing his eyes.
You took one earbud out, smiling over at him. “Morning,” you said softly. “We have arrived.”
“Really?” he murmured, sitting up straight and looking out the window. You were, indeed, back on the ground. Not that he’d been awake when you’d left the ground, but he trusted you.
“How was the flight?” he asked, stretching out his arms as well as he could.
“Not too bad, actually.”
“What’d you do? Did you get any sleep?”
“No, I just listened to music and had my own little spa.”
“Say what now?”
“I did a sheet mask and put on some heavy duty moisturizer. My skin always gets so dry after flying, so I learned to bring some skincare with me and do it on the plane.”
“Can’t wait to see that on the way home.”
“Hey, you can use some if you’d like. Not that you need it. Your skin is amazing.”
“Is it?”
“Um, yeah. Trust me, it is.”
“Hmm. Well, thanks, I guess.”
You slowly got off the plane after getting your bags back down, and picking up your checked luggage proved to go no more quickly. All in all, the whole process, from landing in the airplane to getting a taxi outside the airport, took almost an hour.
Finally, around 1pm, your taxi arrived at The Library Hotel. You had been excited before, but now you were truly in a state of heightened anticipation. You followed Jungshin inside, wheeling your suitcase behind you, and standing next to him at the front desk. You marveled at the lobby, itching to explore the rest of the hotel and especially to see your room.
“Good afternoon, Mr. Lee,” the hotel clerk smiled after Jungshin had handed him his driver’s license. “Your room is ready, so let me get your keys… You’ll be on the 9th floor as you requested, room 900.001.”
“Thank you very much,” Jungshin smiled, taking the keys as the clerk handed them to him.
“Ninth floor?” you asked as you headed toward the elevator. “You requested? Which topic is on the ninth floor?”
“You are so impatient, you know that?”
“Yes.”
“The ninth floor,” he said once the elevator doors had closed behind you. “Is the history floor.”
“Really?!” you gasped, smiling.
“Of course. I wouldn’t let you stay on any other floor.”
“Have I said ‘thank you’ for this trip yet?” You knew you had, at least ten times, but you couldn’t help yourself from saying it again.
“Yes,” he laughed, leaning in to kiss you quickly before the elevator doors opened again.
You found your room easily enough, and Jungshin slid the key into the key slot.
“M’lady,” he said, opening the door and holding it open for you. “Your royal suite awaits.
You entered, biting your lip to keep from smiling like an idiot - though you were fairly sure you were failing miserably. You found the bookshelf by the bed, immediately heading there to see what kind of books were there.
“Ooh, World War I, World War II, the Civil Rights movement… This must be the 20th Century room.”
“I wasn’t sure which one you wanted, and there was no specific American History room…”
“No, this is perfect,” you assured him. “I am not going to complain about anything on this trip. I’m just so thankful you’re taking me.”
Jungshin came up behind you, wrapping his arms around your waist and resting his chin on your shoulder.
“You deserve it, my love.”
You turned around in his embrace, sliding your arms around his neck. “I don’t deserve any of this, especially you, but I don’t care at this point. I’m just rolling with it.”
“Will you stop saying stuff like that?” He squeezed your waist, frowning down at you. “It’s not true!”
“Okay, sorry. I will, I promise.”
“You owe me a kiss.”
“Yes, sir.” You stood on your toes, tightening your hold on his neck and pressing your lips to his. “I love you.”
“I love you, too. Are you as starving as I am?”
“Oh, no doubt about it. There’s a burger place over at Bryant Park not too far from here. Also, a sushi place if you’re feeling sushi.”
“Sushi sounds amazing, actually.”
You fished your favorite pink baseball cap and your glasses out of your bag before you left; you hadn’t put on makeup and was now too lazy to even bother. So a hat and glasses it was.
Your first afternoon/evening went as well as you could’ve hoped; your sushi was amazing, and since the restaurant was so close to the New York Public Library, you popped in to have a look around. 
Jungshin took quite a few pictures, mostly candids without your knowledge, but he did have you pose on the steps of the library, and you took a couple selfies. You also usurped his camera and took some pictures of him, too. New York City was just the perfect backdrop for pictures.
After spending at least an hour in the library, you headed down Fifth Avenue to do some shopping. 
One thing you really loved about Jungshin was that he actually liked shopping. He didn’t get bored when you went into a store, and he gave his honest opinions about things you picked out. 
You hit up Zara, Urban Outfitters, Barnes & Nobles, and finally H&M, refraining yourself from doing any major damage. You were here for an entire week, after all, and it was only the very first evening. 
On the way back from your mini-shopping binge, you passed a sandwich shop called ‘Wichcraft, and you decided the name was too clever to pass up. It was already dinner time, too, so it really was perfect.
With stomachs full of sandwiches, you and Jungshin headed back down Fifth Avenue toward your hotel. You were both fairly exhausted from your flight and your afternoon excursions here in the city, so an evening spent cuddling in bed sounded more than delightful right about now. 
You arrived at your hotel, put your shopping bags away, got ready for the night...and then promptly fell onto the bed.
“Well, I would say we made good use of our time today,” you said, yawning.
“I would agree. Two good meals, a historic landmark, and shopping? We’re basically pros at this tourist thing now.”
“We are!” you laughed, rolling onto your side to face him. “I can but also can’t believe this is our first trip together.”
“Oh yeah?”
“Mm,” you nodded. “I can believe it because we haven’t been anywhere else. But I can’t because it feels like we’ve been together forever.”
“And yet it’s only been six months.”
“Right?! Crazy.”
After you talked a little more, you begged him to get out his laptop and upload the photos he’d taken. You wanted to share one of you at the library on Instagram. 
You had, of course, been posting a lot to your Instagram story, as had Jungshin, but the pictures Jungshin had taken looked so good. 
You picked one of the candids you didn’t hate (one of you putting a book back on the shelf) and had him AirDrop it to your phone. Once you had added all the filters and adjusted all the settings to your liking, you typed out your caption. 
You chuckled as you wrote, hiding your phone from Jungshin and telling him he’d have to wait until you finished, just like everyone else.
Finally, you pressed the ‘share’ button, causing the notifications to pop up on Jungshin’s phone.

You put your phones away then, and you picked out a book on the Kennedy assassination from the bookshelf by your bed.
“It’s story time,” you smirked, lifting up the covers and snuggling under.

The next morning, you awoke around 7. You’d woken up a few times already, but it had been too early for you to justify actually getting up. Now, you started to slip out of bed to take a quick shower, hoping not to wake up Jungshin.
You didn’t even manage to set one foot on the floor before your plan was destroyed. His arm was laying across your middle, and when you sat up, he let out a sleepy groan and tightened his hold on you. Letting out a sigh, you laid back down, turning to face him.
“I need to take a shower,” you whispered, even though you knew he wasn’t fully awake.

You scooted closer, your noses brushing, and you gently placed your lips on his. You let one hand roam down his chest until it got to the hem of his t-shirt, your fingers slipping underneath. You needed to take a shower anyway, and he needed to wake up, so…
You continued to kiss him, managing to push him onto his back so you could straddle his hips. When you took his hands and put them on your thighs, you finally felt him stir.
“Good morning,” you murmured against his lips before tugging at his lower lip with your teeth. He groaned softly, just barely kissing you back. You moved your hands back to the hem of his shirt, lifting it up and eventually getting it over his head.
“What’re you doing?” he muttered, his voice thick with sleep.
You bent over him, placing your lips on his bare shoulder then moving them down to his chest. “Kissing you,” you answered, your lips brushing against his skin.
“But it’s so early.”
“Okay, I’ll stop.” You sat back up and moved to get off him, but his hands - still on your thighs - tightened their grip.
“I wasn’t complaining. Just stating a fact.” His eyes were fully open now, and his fingers danced their way up your thigh, playing with the hem of your pajama shorts.
“So, I can continue kissing you?” you asked, innocently twirling the drawstring from his pants around your finger.
“Please do.”
You resumed kissing his chest and shoulders, but that only lasted for about thirty seconds before Jungshin flipped you over onto your back and had his way with you…

Over an hour later, you and Jungshin were on the hunt for a good breakfast spot. You were both wide awake and feeling refreshed after a shower, and you were feeling particularly good about your outfit and makeup today. You were just wearing a plain white t-shirt with a light leather jacket, ripped jeans and your white Converse, but you felt so chic for some reason. 
Maybe it was your purple lipstick. Come to think of it, it probably was. Purple lipstick always made you feel just a bit more confident.
After finding a quaint coffee shop not too far away and feasting on croissants and hot, caffeinated beverages, you started on your adventures for the day.
Today was art museum day; you had plans to visit The Met and MoMA, and if you had time later, The Whitney. You had found some cool-sounding restaurants for lunch and dinner, and any and everywhere you went was sure to be picture and Instagram worthy.
As far as first days of a trip go, this one was pretty perfect. You walked all the way up to the Upper East Side, strolling along the edge of Central Park before arriving at The Met. 
You admired all kinds of historic art, and the place was so huge you spent over two hours there. 
As you headed back down to MoMA, you decided to walk through Central Park to take some pictures. You spent quite a bit more time there than expected what with all the beautiful scenery and opportunities for pictures (plus, you’d had to trek over to the other side of the park to see the John Lennon memorial), and by the time you were headed to MoMA, both of you were absolutely starving.
You checked your phone and saw one of the places you’d found earlier, PizzArte, was just around the corner. Everything sounded good to you right now, but pizza sounded especially good, so it wasn’t a tough decision to make.
As you ate, you looked up all the musicals and plays currently on Broadway, hoping you could get tickets for something tomorrow afternoon or evening.
“OOH, Anastasia!!!!” you cried when you saw it on the list.
“Like the cartoon movie?”
“YEAH! I forgot that already opened! Can we go see that, please?!”
“Whatever you want to see, we will see,” he assured you, winking.
“Well, except Hamilton. Tickets aren’t available until November, I checked.”
“But we’ll still go see the theater.”
“Right! Excited about that! Okay, let’s look at tickets…” You found some fairly good seats for relatively cheap, so you bought them quickly. 
And you consequently spent the next few hours being way too excited about it. Including when you were in MoMA. You admired the art respectfully, of course, but every so often you would tug on Jungshin’s sleeve and whisper ‘We’re going to see Anastasia tomorrow.’
When you exited your second art museum of the day, you decided to make your way back to your hotel for a breather. You still had plans to visit one more art museum down on the other side of town, so you needed to recharge before heading out for the evening.
As you were resting up in your hotel room, you obviously took the opportunity to go through all the pictures you’d taken and post your favorites on Instagram. You chose one you had taken of Jungshin at the pizza place as well as two of your favorite pieces of art from the museums and a selfie of the two of you in Central Park.

Jungshin decided to save his Instagram post for later, opting instead to call one of his assistant managers at The Grind to see how things were going. He ended up talking to him for a while, and if you weren’t back at the hotel doing nothing, you would’ve been kind of annoyed. He was supposed to be on vacation, after all. But you weren’t doing anything important, so it really wasn’t a huge deal.
Once you felt fully (well, almost fully) rested, and your phone and camera batteries were all charged, you headed to the nearest Subway station to make your way toward Greenwich Village where the Whitney was located. You were also looking forward to going to Chelsea Market since it’s where all the Food Network studios were, and Jungshin was excited to walk along the High Line and take more pictures.
Since The Whitney was open until 10pm on Saturdays, you decided to hit up the High Line while it was still light outside. You were a little disappointed to find it was just a glorified sidewalk, but Jungshin had too much fun taking pictures with the greenery and the buildings. He was so cute and happy, you forgot you’d even been disappointed in the first place.
Dinner was next on the schedule, and Chelsea Market did not disappoint. You had Asian inspired tacos and marveled at the warehouse aesthetic of the building. There was even a spot with pretty fairy lights hung on the wall that was the perfect background for a picture. 
Jungshin forced you to stand in front of it, telling you what to do and how to pose since you really had no idea. You basically had your own little photo shoot right there, but the pictures turned out awesome, so… Totally worth the public embarrassment.
You eventually headed toward The Whitney (though you made a quick stop in a Sephora on the way there because -- Sephora), taking in the sights and sounds of Greenwich Village on the way. The Whitney was definitely one of the “cooler” museums; smaller and in a more hipster location while also featuring lesser-known modern artists. But it was just as awe-inspiring as The Met and MoMA, and you were glad the two of you had made time to visit.
You hopped back on the Subway after exiting the museum, heading up toward your hotel in Midtown. It wasn’t quite dark outside yet, but you’d had a full day and were both ready to settle in for the night.
Jungshin, of course, uploaded all his pictures from his camera as soon as you got back into your room. He was extremely pleased with how they’d come out, and he honestly had a hard time picking which one(s) to post. He knew he could post more later as some #TBTs, but still. 
After much debate and some input from the model (a.k.a you), he decided on posting two pictures from the fairy lights room in Chelsea Market. They were two very similar pictures: close-ups of you, except one was a more casual pose, one hand on your hair by your ear and your eyes downcast as one side of your mouth pulled up ever so slightly in a half smile-half smirk, while the other was one of you genuinely laughing. You’d been laughing at yourself, of course, but for all anyone else knew, you were laughing at something funny Jungshin had said.
He edited the pictures to make both your lipstick and the fairy lights behind you pop before uploading them to Instagram.

You just rolled your eyes when you read the caption, fighting off a blush. “Whatever,” you murmured.
“What do you mean ‘whatever’?” Jungshin exclaimed, tackling you back onto the bed. He kept you pinned there until you admitted you were pretty and photogenic which didn’t take long once he started tickling you.
You were able to free yourself after quite the struggle, darting into the bathroom and locking the door so you could get ready for bed. When you emerged, you went to your suitcase and grabbed your laptop and earbuds, bringing them with you to the bed.
“What’s that?” Jungshin asked, eyes wide and brow furrowed.
“...My laptop?”
“Why do you need your laptop?”
“Because I want to catch up on my YouTube subscriptions.” It had been a couple days, and you were sure you had more than a few conspiracy theory videos and makeup tutorials to watch.
“But… I wanted to cuddle.”
“I can cuddle and watch YouTube at the same time! It’s called multitasking.”
“Okay,” he sighed, lifting up the covers for you. You snuggled in, plugging in your earbuds, only sticking one in your ear on the opposite side of Jungshin.
You propped your head and shoulders up against your pillow, Jungshin lying down beside you, resting his head on your arm and his own arm across your stomach. 
He tried nuzzling your neck, caressing your side with his thumb, wrapping his leg over yours, but your focus never wavered from your videos. Finally, he tilted his head and started kissing your jaw, savoring the feel of your skin against his lips. You simply brought a hand up to cover his face, though you did say ‘I love you’ very sweetly.
Obviously, he was getting nowhere, so he decided to just look at his phone until he got sleepy. He knew not every night had to be fun, but still. He couldn’t help but be a tiny, teeny bit bummed. 
Tomorrow was a new day, however, and you had talked about doing typical tourist things - Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Ground Zero, and the like. He was quite looking forward to it.

Even though You and Jungshin didn’t get the next morning started off in exactly the same way as the previous one, it still turned out to be an extremely enjoyable day. 
You did end up being the epitome of NYC tourists, complete with ending the night seeing a Broadway show - which was fantastic, by the way. You kept grabbing onto Jungshin’s arm because you loved this movie growing up, and seeing it on stage was a bit emotional for you.
You decided to walk back to your hotel after the show since it really wasn’t that far, and the night was beautiful. If only you could see the stars; then it would be perfect.
“So, what was your favorite part of day two?” you asked as you waited to cross a street, clinging onto Jungshin’s hand and arm.
“Hmmm… I really enjoyed the Empire State building,” he said, though he looked like he was still thinking. “Ellis Island was really cool, too, though. ...Yeah, I think I liked those two the best. OH, I also really liked where we went for lunch.”
“George’s! Yeah, that was delicious.”
“What about you? What was your favorite part?”
“Anastasia,” you replied immediately as you started to walk across the street.
“I figured,” he chuckled, glancing over at you. “It was really good.”
“I would like to see at least one more while we’re here,” you said, furrowing your brow as you tried to remember which shows were playing. Besides Hamilton.
“We can look tonight and see what we can find.”
“Okay!” You squeezed his hand, skipping a little bit in excitement.
“You’ve been in a really good mood since we got here,” he pointed out, smiling.
“Well, yeah. I’m here with you doing all this fun stuff. How could I be in a bad mood?”
“You’ve got a point.”
You tugged on his hand, pulling him closer to you and kissing him quickly as you walked. “I love you,” you said softly.
“I love you more.”
“Oh, god. NO. We are not starting that again.”
“Sorry! Sorry, I won’t, I promise.”
When you got back to the hotel, you looked up the other shows on Broadway, finally deciding to see School of Rock on Tuesday night. You were both a big fan of the movie, so it had been an easy decision.
“You sure you won’t tell me what we’re doing tomorrow?” you asked again, trying to look extra cute and adorable to try and break him down.
“I’m sure,” Jungshin replied for the seventeenth time. “We’re doing it early on in the day, so you don’t have to wait too much longer.”
If you couldn’t coerce him by being cute, maybe you could go the other way on the scale.
You closed the lid of his laptop, moving it to the side table before you straddled his hips. “There’s something else I don’t want to wait for…” you said softly, brushing your lips against his.
“I’m still not telling you.”
“Damn it!”
“But I will gladly take what you were about to offer.”
“You can wait.” You moved off him, getting under the covers and lying down facing away from him.
He simply shook his head, smirking to himself before settling under the covers, too.

The next morning, you didn’t wake up until 8 (though you did wake up a couple times during the night). You were still the first one awake, though, and since Jungshin wasn’t cuddling you at the moment, you were able to get out of bed and take a shower without disturbing him.
Jungshin woke up not long afterward, turning his head to see the bed was already empty save for him. He could hear the shower running in the bathroom, and he entertained the idea of going in there to join you… But then he thought better of it. He would probably end up telling you all the surprises he had left in the trip, and that would be no bueno.
Instead, he got out his phone and waited for you to emerge. Thankfully, he didn’t have to wait long, because right after he pulled up Instagram he heard the water turn off. The door opened a couple minutes later, and Jungshin glanced up from his phone to smile at you.
“Morning, sunshine.” It was the first time he’d spoken, so his voice still sounded a bit groggy.
“Morning!” You replied, “How’d you sleep?”
He watched as you sat down at the desk near the foot of the bed to do your makeup, admiring your outfit - a striped shirt, black ripped jeans, and a light wash jean jacket. “Same way I always do,” he replied. “What about you? Did you wake up at all?”
“Yeah, a couple times. Around 1 and 4, I think.”
“You know you can always wake me up if you need to. If you need me to scratch your back or something.”
“I did think about it, honestly, but you were totally knocked out. You looked so cute.”
Jungshin blushed, finally getting out of bed to go brush his teeth and get changed. “No, really, you can wake me up. I’m not grumpy when I wake up.”
“You’re right, you’re not. Huh. I never really noticed that.”
“I’m not really a morning person, but I’m not grumpy in the mornings, either.”
You did your makeup while Jungshin got ready, putting on everything you normally did. But when you got to your lipstick, you were stuck.
“What do you think, babe?” you asked, taking out a red lipstick and a pink lipstick. “Red or pink?”
Jungshin came up behind you, resting his hands on the back of your chair. “Definitely red. Red and black is a classic combo.”
“Red it is.” You put the pink lipstick away then opened the red, leaning in toward the mirror and applying it carefully.
“You look really good today,” he said, looking at you in the mirror.
“Aw, thanks.”
“I mean, you look good all the time. But today you just look… There’s something about that outfit. And the red lipstick is the perfect touch.”
“I feel like guys always like red lipstick,” You pointed out, standing up and turning toward him. “Usually when I wear it, a guy will comment on my makeup. And that never happens.”
“Guys are weird.”
“I know, right?”
You headed out once you grabbed your purse, planning on going to another nearby coffee shop for breakfast.
“So,” Jungshin began when you left the shop with your pastries and drinks. “We need to be at The Battery by 11.”
“The Battery by 11. Okay.” You immediately started trying to figure out what you could be doing, but you had no idea. You figured it was probably a tour since you had to be there by a certain time.
“The Battery is down near where we were yesterday, down by where we got on the boat for Ellis Island and stuff. So, let’s head down there now, and I’m sure we can find stuff to do while we wait.”
“Sounds like a plan, my man.”
You went back to the same Subway station as yesterday, following the same route you took previously. You looked up what else you could do, and you gasped when you saw the National Archives were across the street.
“Yes, we can go.”
“You are literally the best boyfriend in the whole entire universe, I’m not even joking.”
He chuckled, blushing a little bit as he reached over to pat your knee. “You do tell good jokes, though, just for the record.”
When you arrived down in the Financial District, you headed right to the National Archives. You were so in your element, it wasn’t even funny. You even got into a conversation with an employee there which Jungshin had never witnessed before - you willingly talking to a stranger, that is.
Jungshin noticed when it was 10:30, and he tried to tell you it was time to leave as delicately as he could. But he knew you wouldn’t be disappointed when you reached your final destination.
“Will you tell me what we’re doing now?” you asked once you were outside and headed toward Battery Park.
There really wasn’t any more time to keep it a secret, was there? He took your hand, biting back a smile. “We are going on a tour called ‘Hamilton’s Wall Street.’”
“As in... Alexander?”
“That’s the one. We’ll get to see important places on Wall Street and around this area and hear about what he did.”
“Nuh uh, that is so cool!” You squeezed his hand, jumping up and down a little as you walked.
You were enraptured the moment the tour started, hanging on the tour guide’s every word. And when he asked a question about something - anything - you always knew the answer. You quickly gained the reputation of being the nerdy smarty pants in your tour group, and Jungshin was so proud.
You talked a while at The Battery before moving on to Federal Hall and Trinity Church. The tour ended at Fraunces Tavern, a place Hamilton apparently frequented, where you ended up just staying for lunch. Once the tour guide left and you and Jungshin were sitting at your table to eat, you reached over to take his hand.
“That was unbelievable,” you said, smiling widely. “Thank you so much for doing that.”
“I thought you would like it.”
“No, I didn’t like it.”
“You loved it.”
You just smiled again, nodding your head once as you tangled your feet with his underneath the table.
Once you finished lunch they headed toward the Brooklyn Bridge, one of your favorite things in all of New York. On the other side, you headed toward Brooklyn Bridge Park and decided to just relax and take it easy. You still had three more full days left in the city; plenty of time left to be busy. Now it was time to slow down and live in the moment. 
You didn’t take your phones out, Jungshin barely took any pictures. You simply walked, talked, sat, admired the scenery, and enjoyed each other’s company.
That is, until you got hungry. You whipped out your phone then, finding a Polish diner nearby with really good reviews.
After feasting on kielbasa and pierogis, you figured out a Subway route to get back to your hotel and hopped on the next train heading midtown to settle in for the night. 
Your trip was just about halfway over now, and you could safely say it was one of the best vacations you’d ever been on.
You couldn’t wait to see what the next few days had in store.

Pairing: Jim x Reader 
Word Count: 2643
Warnings: Some swearing, fluff
A/N: Wow I definitely didn’t intend for it to be that long. Also, one day I’m gonna get everything together and start making headers for these posts, but that day is not today. Today I’m going to sleep because I’m currently dying from cramps. Hope you guys enjoy, though! Also, there’s a pic of the bike I mention at the bottom of the fic if any of you are curious. 
You knocked frantically on Jim’s door. Bones was gonna kill you. A few seconds passed without answer and you pressed your ear to the door, listening for movement. Hearing nothing, you pounded on the door again.
“Jesus Jim answer the goddamn door,” you called.
If Jim could've yanked open the automatic door, you're sure he would've. He was scowling deeply, hair sticking up in all directions - the first time you’d seen it anything less than perfect. His shirtless torso was still perfect, though, and those gray sweats hanging dangerously low on his hips were downright tantalizing.
“What is it, Lieutenant? Did you forget we’re on shore leave?”
You swallowed, closing your eyes and forcing yourself to stop thinking about what you’d like to do to those beautiful muscles. “No, I didn't forget we’re on shore leave,” you said, pushing past Jim into his room, “but you seem to have forgotten what day it is.”
“Yes, Y/N, please come in.” Jim shut the door behind him, taking a moment to admire your ass as you bent down to pick a shirt off the floor. “What day is it exactly?”
You rolled your eyes and threw the shirt in his direction before heading to the coffee maker to brew both of you a cup. “It’s Jo’s birthday. We promised Bones we’d be there and we’re already running late. You know Bones’ll kill us if we leave him alone with all those kids.”
When Jim didn't answer, you peered at him curiously, only to find him sprawled over the counter snoring gently. “Jim,” you huffed, “I’m serious!” Jim only groaned in response.
You sighed and turned back to the coffee, grabbing the cup and walking over to set it in front of Jim. You crossed your arms and leaned over the counter, resting your head so it it was level with Jim’s.
You blew gently on his face. “Jim,” you hummed, blowing again. “Jimmy, it's time to get up.”
When you blew on his face again he groaned and pushed your face away. “Don't wanna go.”
“Infant,” you grumbled. With a sigh, you sat up in your chair and changed tactics, turning on the charm instead. You reached across the counter and ran a hand through Jim’s hair, trying to smooth it out. “It’s a shame you don't wanna get up, Jimmy, because Joanna’s not the only one I’ve got a present for today. But if you don't want it…” You let your hand fall to the counter as your voice trailed off. Jim peeked out from his arms and you winked at him.
“Do I at least get a hint,” he asked.
“Let’s just say you’ll enjoy the ride,” you said with a smirk. “Now put on your shirt and some different pants.”
“What's wrong with my pants?”
You shrugged. “Can't guarantee I won't try to pull them off later. Wouldn't want to scar the children.” Jim choked on his coffee as you walked towards the door, sparing him one last wink before heading outside.
You stood with your eyes closed, face turned up to the Sun as you waited for Jim. As much as you loved the Enterprise, there was nothing like having the ground under your feet and wind in your hair.
Jim’s breath caught when he saw you. He’d seen a lot of beautiful things in his time as Captain, but nothing could compare to the smile on your face while the Sun heated up your cheeks. He could hardly hold it against you for waking him up this early.
“Am I interrupting something,” he said.
You opened your eyes, taking a moment to admire the leather jacket and perfect hair. “Stupid perfect hair,” you thought to yourself. “Stupid perfect hair because he’s your captain and this can't happen.”
You ignored his question, reaching behind you to grab one of two helmets resting on the bike behind you. You held it out to him, beaming.
“No way,” Jim said, smile growing, “Shit, Y/N, this bike’s yours?”
“Rental,” you shrugged, “701 Supermoto. A classic, if you ask me.”
Jim ran his hands over the seat and up the handlebars, groaning softly. You tried not to imagine his hands doing the same to you, but God those noises were downright sinful.
“All right, all right,” you said, grabbing the other helmet, “Sorry to break up your little love fest but we do have a party to get to so hop on. You're driving.”
Jim just laughed, pulling you into a tight one-armed hug before putting his helmet on and throwing a leg over the bike. You hopped on behind him, wrapping your arms around his waist, definitely not thinking about how you could feel his abs through his thin t-shirt.
“Hope you're comfortable back there, babe,” Jim said. You could hear the smirk on his face. “Bastard,” you thought.

The ride breezed by and you and Jim were at the park sooner than you wanted. It felt colder as you unwound your arms from Jim, missing the heat of him. The thought left your mind when you heard Bones’ voice from behind you.
“Where the hell have you two been?” You turned to see him stomping up to you. You had to bite your cheek to keep from laughing at the bows stuck at odd angles in his hair. There was a smear of glitter across his cheek.
“Looks like you’ve been holding them off pretty well,” Jim said with a smirk. Bones shot him a glare.
“Sorry, Bones,” you said, skipping up to give him a hug and a kiss on the cheek, “Someone didn't want to get out of bed” you said, with a pointed look back at Jim.
“So that's how it is,” Jim laughed, “You're just gonna throw me under the bus?”
A shrill voice cut you off before you could reply. “Auntie Y/N! Uncle Jim!”
You hardly saw the little ball of curls before she jumped into your arms. “Jo-bear!” She giggled at the nickname as you swung her around, blowing a raspberry against her neck.
“No, no, stop it Y/N! Uncle Jim save me.” Joanna giggled as you blew another raspberry, this time against her cheek, before Jim pulled her from your arms and threw her over his shoulder. Joanna shrieked again as Jim pretended to drop her. She punched him in the arm. “You're supposed to be saving me!”
Jim laughed, “You’re right. I’m sorry princess. How about an escort back to your banquet?” Jim hoisted Jo onto his shoulders and made his way to the table. You watched him walk away, Joanna rambling on, and couldn’t help but think that Jim would make such a great father.
“You know, lovestruck’s a good look for you,” Bones smirked.
You glared at him. “Well pink glitter isn't a good look for you,” you teased, pulling a bow from his hair and clipping it in your own. Bones pushed you playfully as the two of you made your way over to the picnic table.
You plopped down across from Hikaru and Ben, “How’d you guys get roped into this?”
“We wanted to come,” Ben said, “Thought it would be good for Joanna and Demora to be friends.”
“Mm, of course. Why are you really here,” you said, looking at Hikaru.
He shrugged, “McCoy promised to watch Demora for a few days so Ben and I could have some time alone.”
“Oh Sulu, turning on the romance.” You wiggled your eyebrows at him suggestively and he kicked you under the table.
“Speaking of romance,” Hikaru said, changing the subject, “how are things going with the Captain?” He nodded his head in Jim’s direction and you couldn't help the smile that spread across your face when you saw him running around with Joanna and her friends.
“She really does have it bad,” Ben said.
“Pfft, I don't know what you're talking about.”
“Horseshit,” Bones said, dropping down beside you.
“Okay so maybe I have the hots for the Captain, but who cares? He's the captain, and I’m just an engineer. It's against the rules.” Hikaru and Bones both snorted.
“Because if there's one thing Jim cares about it's the rules,” Bones said.
“Shouldn't you be on grill duty,” you mumbled. Bones cursed under his breath before jumping back up to check on the burgers. Your scowl deepened as you looked at Hikaru. “Don't start again.”
He put his hands up in defense. “I didn't say anything.” You propped your elbows on the tables and groaned into your hands. Ben was right. You did have it bad.
You didn't have long to wallow before Joanna came bounding up to the table again. “Auntie Y/N! Auntie Y/N! Will you braid my hair?”
“‘Course, pumpkin. Hop on up. You swung a leg over the bench to straddle it, so Joanna could sit in front of you.
“You took Daddy’s bow,” she said as she clambered onto the bench and put her back to you.
You ran your fingers through her hair a few times before starting to braid it. “Yeah, I did but to be fair pink isn't his color. It makes that vein in his neck look even more purple.”
“I heard that,” Bones snapped, making Joanna giggle.
The kids came sprinting back to the table when Bones said burgers were served. Jo made quick work of hers, eager to get to the cake and presents portion of the party but, just as Jo was about to dig in, Jim’s comm went off.
He looked at the number and grimaced. “Sorry, sorry. Won't be two seconds.” You shot him a worried glance as he stood from the table but he just smiled and shook his head, trying to tell you not to worry.
Jo pouted, looking forward to opening presents but not wanting to do it without Jim. You tried to keep her preoccupied by asking her about school, but she wouldn't have it.
“Auntie Y/N, will you make Uncle Jim come back so I can open presents?” She looked at you with the same puppy dog eyes as her father and you sighed.
“Of course, sweetheart.” You kissed her on the top of her head and she went back to drawing in the icing of her cake. It gave you a wicked idea.
You grabbed the slice of cake Bones cut for Jim and walked over to him. He was pacing slightly, eyebrows furrowed but the call ended before you could hear anything. Jim dropped his arms his sides, eyes closed, trying to force himself to relax.
“That bad, huh,” you said softly.
He opened those beautiful baby blues and looked at you. The corners of his mouth twitched up in a half-smile. “They want us to cut off shore leave early. A research vessel got stuck in a nearby system and they need us to go out and get it.” Jim sighed, “I promised everyone a full two weeks this time.”
“Hey,” you said, putting a hand on his arm, “we can worry about that later. Right now we’re at Jo’s party, okay? I brought cake.” You held the plate out to him.
“God, you're perfect,” Jim said, reaching for it. You quickly snatched it back and smashed the cake against his face before bolting back to the table, laughter trailing behind you. The entire table of kids erupted into giggles.
Jim stood frozen a moment, hand still outstretched for the cake. Did that really just happen? He dragged a hand down his face, trying to get as much icing off as he could, before popping a finger into his mouth. It was some damn good cake.
You thought your heart was gonna stop watching Jim suck on his fingers like that. It definitely stopped when he caught you staring from the table and winked at you. He sauntered back up as if there wasn't icing all over his face and God what you wouldn't give to be the one to lick it all off.
“Earth to Y/N,” Hikaru said. “In case you didn't notice, he’s headed this way. You might wanna try evasive maneuvers.”
“What,” you said, not able to tear your eyes from Jim. How was his hair still so damn perfect?
Jim stopped in front of you, still grinning like a kid. “You dropped something,” he said before lunging forward and catching your face with his hands, smearing cake and icing across your face.
You squealed as you tried to push him off, but he grabbed another slice of cake from the table and pressed it onto the top of your head.
You grabbed as much of the cake as you could scoop out of your hair and flung it at Jim, hitting him right in the chest, but Jo was ready, handing him a brand new slice of cake, laughing almost as much as the two of you. You looked at her and gasped at the betrayal before bolting away from the table.
Jim caught up with you easily, grabbing your hand and yanking you to a halt. He swung the slice around as you struggled against him, hitting you dead in the chest.
“Jim,” you whined as the icing dripped down into your bra, “Let me go. It feels so gross.” Jim just pulled you closer to him, trapping you in a hug and smearing icing across the front of both of your shirts. “Jiiiim,” you whined again, trying to push him off.”
“You're cute when you’re whiny, you know that,” Jim laughed, pulling back far enough that you could see all of his icing-covered face.
You reached up and dragged your finger through the icing. “I’m cute all the time,” you said, putting your finger in your mouth. You groaned at the taste.
Jim’s grip on your waist tightened and you looked up at him. His eyes were locked on your mouth. You pulled your finger out slowly, letting pop before licking your lips. Jim’s eyes darted back to yours as he leaned a little closer. “You are cute all the time,” he whispered, pressing your hips together. “Makes it real hard to do my job, you know.”
You grinned, sliding an arm around Jim’s neck and rubbing frosting in his hair. “Somehow I think that's not the only thing I make hard.”
Whatever witty response Jim had got lost in the kiss as you pressed your lips against his. He tasted like peppermint and cake and you could feel every ounce of heat coming off of him. He wrapped his arms tighter around you, brushing his tongue against your lips, but you pulled away. You kissed the corner of his mouth and  licked a stripe up his cheek, settling your lips against his ear. “I think maybe we outta go home and get cleaned up, Captain.”
Jim shuddered against you, fingertips gripping hard enough to bruise against your hips. A wolf-whistle behind you drew your attention and you saw Hikaru standing at the table clapping. Bones, on the other hand, was stalking toward you looking less than pleased.
You pushed gently on Jim’s shoulder, turning him around to face Bones and then ducking behind him.
“Are you two out of your corn-fed minds? You're supposed to be the adults here.”
Jim’s smile didn't break. He shrugged and rubbed a hand on the back of his neck. “Sorry, Bones, I guess we just got a little carried away.”
“A little carried away. Do you know how long my ma spent baking this cake? And then you just go and throw it all over the damn park! You're acting like-” Bones froze as you chucked a glob of cake straight into his face. You and Jim were laughing so hard you could barely run as Jim pulled you behind him. Oh, Bones was definitely going to kill you.

It’s more of a sports bike I think, but I was reading reviews of motorcycles and the guy said that this bike made him feel 12 again and I feel like Jim would jump at that kind of chance.
