bc like. no they're men. they should be in men's bathrooms unless that feels unsafe. but. it really feels like it's not helpful to lean into the idea that seeing someone presenting masc or being read as a man in a women's bathroom means You're In Danger.

like I know several butch women and NB ppl who are really scared around being on T or getting top surgery bc they're not men and they don't want to be in the men's bathroom, and in that circumstance stuff like growing facial hair or reading more androgynously can be really fucking scary when people are being primed by propaganda to be on edge and hyperreactive to anyone who doesn't look like their idea of a Cis Woman.

and I'm not laying that at the feet of the people saying "hey uhhhh trans men are men and don't belong in women's bathrooms" bc it is not their fault. it's the fault of a concerted effort to make it difficult and dangerous to be trans or substantively gender nonconforming in public.

but at the same time idk I guess it just worries me cause sometimes it feels like "you fools! you are worried about this group of trans people bc you think they're the Lurking Danger of Men In Bathrooms? WRONG! the Men Making You Feel Afraid In Bathrooms are actually THESE trans people!" when in fact neither of those groups using the fucking bathroom is a problem. just piss and mind your business. people need to go where they need to go.

Frankly I think Alistair being mildly shitty to that mage in Ostagar seems pretty in-character for the guy he is before the massive, life-altering trauma that is the Ostagar massacre wherein he sees all of his Grey Warden comrades, his beloved mentor/father figure, and his beloathed half-brother/convenient-target-of-projection absolutely torn to shreds by literal Thedas boogeymen. IIRC Morrigan and Flemeth both comment on his wack behavior after Ostagar and then by the time we get to Lothering Alistair just fully surrenders any and all responsibility (and, frankly, agency) to the player's Warden for the foreseeable future. It can then take anywhere from a couple IRL hours to the entire second act of the game for him to retake almost any amount of it back. And depending on the player's choices in dialogue, and especially whether or not they choose to romance him, we may only see flashes of that guy we met at Ostagar before he potentially morphs into almost someone else entirely (hardened!King!Alistair). All that to say, I don't actually think it's a useful criticism of "characterization" to bring up Alistair's glibness as compared to his behavior in the majority of the game because from where I'm standing (looking directly at his snottiness about Cailan, his complaints about being assigned to the Tower of Ishal, his Templar-esque focusing on Morrigan and Flemeth being apostates, his generally pretty brusque manner with the Warden recruits) it seems fairly in-line with the rest of his behavior at Ostagar.

unpopular opinion over a thing that's ancient history at this point but I still don't really find the whole john green taste of cock edit thing that funny. Like yeah I understand the general "haha tumblr is environmentally hostile towards fame, corporations and most celebs cannot thrive here" thing, I'm a hellsite denizen I get how this works, but constant bragging over *checks notes* some guy having been sexually harassed off the platform seems kinda weird.

Do any of yall understand how money works? How money in a business works. Everyone harassing Steven for having a tesla and acting like they spent all the company's money on their weddings. Most businesses have everything lined up in a way that the money that is for the business cannot be touched. They use their personal money for their personal expenses. If they used business money for personal expenses, that's called fraud and someone in the business would have called the police. Everyone acting like they're stealing from watcher is so stupid. They had separate money coming into this venture, they put some money into the business, they kept some of their personal money for themselves. Which they are allowed to do. The business makes its own money from the money they put into it, and that's how people get paid. Every individual still has whatever money they had when they came to the business. Even being co-founders and ceo's does not mean that the business's money is their personal money, or that their personal money is the business's money. Stop fucking harassing Steven for having a nice car and living his life. You're an asshole. Stop being mad at people for succeeding in life because you're poor and mad about it. They aren't one percenters, they aren't the people we all think of when we say eat the rich.

“this WHOLE season is nick’s coming out storyline and in every episode from multiple characters MUTLIPLE TIMES he is reminded that he is under no obligation to come out to anyone and that it is HIS decision to make WHEN he wants to and HE gets to decide WHO to tell and there are no expectations of when or how he comes out and there’s not any pressure coming from anyone for him to do it before he’s ready. So, for kit connor to be portraying this character and acting this storyline after what was done to him by the FANS OF THE FUCKING SHOW is genuinely heartbreaking and i really hope that getting to film this was healing in some way instead of just a reminder of the graciousness that he was not afforded because he deserved so so much better than what he got. I have gotten emotional several times at scenes where nick is reassured that there’s no pressure for him to come out explicitly because that is the opposite of the way the actor was treated.”

there needs to be further and deeper discussion in this fandom of the Outsider's mannerisms and way of speech in DotO, hell, even in DH2 - his agitation and anger, the resignation and hope and lingering sorrow, his awe, "you've done something impossible"
