peter sees the signs before anyone else, finds his mentor's hidden projects all tagged 'SUPERIOR' and sees where it's leading. peter doesnt know who to go to, who would believe some 15 yr old kid who claims that tony stark, the world's hero, is planning to seize more power than any one person should have? peter has no choice but to take matters into his own hands. but spider-man is no match for iron man, especially when tony could simply disable the suit he made for him or even use it against him.
so instead, peter seduces his mentor, collects damning evidence of them together, and makes sure it gets to the authorities and the public before tony has enough control of the media and government to bury the scandal and escape a hefty prison sentence.
peter succeeded in preventing the superior's rise, betrayed him before tony could betray everyone.
but, now that he has, there's no moving on; despite his betrayal, peter's feelings weren't a lie. every now and then, peter visits his old mentor, his old lover, pleads for understanding, for forgiveness, for anything. tony simply stares, unresponsive, calculating and scheming.

In the shower, Max feels better.
The water rushing over his head, down the length of his hair that Daniel had pulled at gently just four days ago and said, “Maxy, you need a haircut.” Running over his ears, loud and inescapable so that when he closes his eyes, it is thunder and he can pretend he has just been caught in a storm, that this is why his suit is soaked through, moulded to his body like it is trying to help him shrink.
When he was younger, naked, in these moments he would be the boy in the Amazon rainforest, the son of a tribe warrior holding a spear up proudly, like he had seen on the cover of National Geographic. Braving the storm, the water hot and burning so he could pretend the sticky steam was humid tropical air.
“Max?” Comes a voice, Daniel from far away. “Max, we have to leave in- Max?”
He sounds frightened, but standing fully clothed in their shower is hardly the most terrifying thing Max has done in this bathroom.
He doesn’t open is eyes until he feels the cold air penetrate the protective haze of steam around him. Water slides right down into his eyes, a dull ache rather than the sting it would be if Max had bothered to shampoo. By now, he knows being clean has nothing to do with soap.
Daniel’s eyes are wide, looking up and down the lines of him. Max wonders, not for the first time, what he sees. What anybody sees when they look at him. When Max has detached from himself so much that he doesn’t know what space the ends of his body exist in.
Then Daniel is stepping in beside Max, under the spray. The arms around him are hesitant, the way they have been for- But Max can’t remember the last time he let Daniel hold him.
He lets him now.
“You’ve ruined your suit,” Daniel murmurs into his hair, daring to kiss Max there. Brave in ways Max has always been grateful for.
Max doesn’t say that now, also, Daniel has ruined his. This is how it has always gone between them; Daniel barely dry, only to have to jump in the water again after Max.

hi again, just here a curious question: may I ask what and why of a rare pair(? hope I got this right-) with Liege and Solus? (genuinely curious. 👀 ) - anon tfp nerd
I mainly got interested because Liege is a pivotal character to Megatronus and Solus. Plus, in one iteration, Prima actually bonded Liege Maximo and Solus, and their bickering marriage inspired the myths of Aphrodite and Hephaestus (along with Megatronus as Ares because I can't help myself lol).
His own character design and abilities take a lot of inspiration from the Marvel character as well as Norse mythos of Loki.
Green armature. Horned helmet. Described as a clever strategist, yet a charming diplomat with so many faces. A liar and a manipulator. Even his own artifact, which was capable of Liegian Darts could be taken as a nod to the Norse myth of the snake venom that tormented Loki as punishment as well as the fighting style of Marvel's character.
Shoot, in a way, it could be said that Liege Maximo brought the downfall of the Thirteen by stoking Prima's paranoia of Unicron and Megatronus' jealousy, culminating in Solus' death and the war between the remaining Primal factions.
So I have my own thoughts about the Thirteen and their relationships, so-
It comes down to Liege Maximo needing to figure out what is it about Solus that tempted Megatronus away from Prima.
Where Prima goes, Megatronus follows.
In some ways, Liege/Solus is an intimacy between minds. I don't think it's a stretch that the Creation Lathe also allowed Solus "visions" -foretelling the path of her projects, both doomed and triumphant. She wasn't just a tragic, doomed lover but an actual player for the long run.
Liege can respect that and power because Megatronus was and is a class of his own, even among them.
But in the end, Megatronus is the one with her full confidence because he will do whatever is necessary. Solus leaves Liege crumbs of her Grand Plan, but Liege basically connects the wrong dots and fucks it in a spectacular fashion that's worthy of a Greek tragedy.

I've done a lot of emotional labor tonight and I am tired.
A friend earlier this evening messaged me. We don't talk a lot other than when we see each other in person but sometimes he gets buzzed/drunk and will end up messaging me. Which is what he did tonight. It wasn't too bad, he was spiraling a little about something, I didn't ask. Mostly just wanted to talk.
Then right when I was falling asleep at 3AM my friend with the piece of shit abusive husband calls me which is usually a good way to ruin my night, though never as badly as hers has been. At least tonight she was calling because he decided to be an abusive piece of shit again and got arrested this time. But I did have to sit with her for almost two hours while she processed that. She also just got over covid. Or is supposedly over it. I swear if I get covid from this I'll be so pissed. I'm going see Janelle Monae next weekend. But at least he's hopefully out the picture since he was already on probation from the last time he was an abusive piece of shit.
No one is allowed to have a single feeling in my vicinity for the next 24 hours. I just can't do it

what is it about columbia specifically that's allowed the situation re: repression of pro palestine student protestors to become so visible
like obviously a lot of it is that columbia is a really well known institution + in new york city so it has a certain cultural weight to it that most other colleges do not and there are a lot of journalists who are conveniently located relative to it. and also bc it's in nyc the nypd is there and the nypd is going to have more capacity to arrest tens of protestors at once than your average college police department (i assume)
but it wasn't *always* going to be columbia at the center of this thing. after october 7th the big story that i remember about student activism was that a group at harvard sent an open letter blaming israel for the attacks and then a truck w/ students' personal info drove around campus in retaliation. there's a world where things go a different direction and some other school gets to be treated as a microcosm in national free speech debates.
so how did it end up being columbia? is the admin just genuinely that incompetent or hostile to students that they don't think things escalating this far will have consequences for them? or are there other things im missing

While it was strongly claimed during Cosmic Turnabout that Clay caused Solomon's unconsciousness by overdosing him on his anxiety medication, this was not the case.
Solomon's PTSD would likely be treated with SSRIs, with the most likely prescriptions being venlafaxine, sertraline, or paroxetine. Of these three, only sertraline has an explicit side effect of potential loss of consciousness -- however, experiencing this side effect would be cause for hospitalisation and would not be conducive to space travel once Solomon was conscious. The only other alternative would be to cause serotonin syndrome by forcing Solomon's serotonin levels to spike beyond control, through either a medication overdose or combining his existing medication with other tablets to raise his serotonin.
However, serotonin syndrome would also run considerable risk of seizures and arrhythmia, which again would not be conducive to space travel and would be far too inexact as to how much of the medication to give Solomon without a) killing him b) causing him to be entirely unfit for space travel, rather than just knocked out for the launch and c) causing any of the other side effects of serotonin syndrome instead of unconsciousness in isolation.
This also does not tally with Simon explicitly stating that traces of medication were found in Solomon's system -- presuming Solomon had blood drawn shortly following Clay's attempted murder being discovered and police arriving, there is no feasible way that Solomon's unconsciousness could have been induced by his medication as the volume needed to cause the unconsciousness would show in far higher quantities in bloodwork than just "traces".
In truth, Clay assisted Yuri in 'managing' Solomon's anxiety with the launch by including generic sleeping tablets in his usual medication, passing them off as additional vitamins and assisting in this deception by taking visually similar actual vitamins himself. It was these tablets which caused Solomon's loss of consciousness for the HAT-2 launch; far safer than hamfistedly overdosing Solomon on his medication until he caused unconsciousness.
Clay worked under the assumption, with Yuri's deceitful confirmation, that the drugging was consensual and Solomon was aware of this potential plan, with Solomon being consensually unaware of the details as to avoid further anxiety. Following his recovery from the Phantom's attack, once he is medically cleared, Clay does stand trial for Solomon's spiking on charges of infliction of bodily harm.
