Hart of Dixie: Wade Kinsella - Type 9w8
Tumblr media
Wade is jovial, caring and insecure. While he may appear to be a reckless bad boy at first, Wade has a great heart and cares deeply about the people in his life.
At his best, Wade becomes more driven and wants to be a better person for Zoe. He works towards his goal of owning the Rammer Jammer and his business is quite successful.
At his worst, Wade is insecure and sabotages himself. He has little self-worth and reads negative intent into people. Wade is shifty and believes that Zoe is going to leave him because he isn't good enough for her.
In direct contrast to Zoe's sophistication, Wade is a fairly simple person. He finds comfort in the simple pleasures of playing video games and watching monster trucks. When we meet Wade he is fairly content with his life and does not feel a strong desire to move forward in his career.
While it is not immediately apparent, Wade is a very stable individual and handles his life circumstances quite well. We learn that Wade had a difficult childhood, as his father was the town drunk. As his brother Jesse went off to pursue his degree, Wade felt responsible for Earl and had to act as a caretaker of sorts to him. This led Wade to feeling a sense of resentment towards Jesse as he feels like he is always the one who has to stay behind. I think that Wade feels somewhat abandoned by Jesse and hates that he is bearing the brunt of the responsibility for Earl.
Wade tries to project an image of not caring about anything. I believe this is a defence mechanism he uses to avoid being vulnerable to being hurt. However, we see as the show continues that Wade does care very deeply. For example, every month Earl threatens to jump off a building unless Wade sings him off the ledge. Every month Wade does this without fail despite pretending not to care about Earl.
Tumblr media
We also see something similar in his relationship with Zoe. Wade is initially very scared to show how he feels for Zoe because he is afraid that his feelings will be rejected. When they are in the scavenger hunt together Wade is very happy and he thinks that Zoe is reciprocating his feelings. When he realises that this was a ploy to get to George, he is deeply saddened and his walls are built up again. I think that because of this, when Wade and Zoe are dating in season 2 he tries to play it off as casual. I think Wade downplays his feelings because he is so insecure that Zoe will pick George (even though she has told him that isn't the case).
Wade sees how smart and successful Zoe is and feels inferior when he compares himself to her. He is convinced that he is just a pitstop and that she will leave him. I believe that the reason Wade cheats on Zoe is because he wanted to sabotage the relationship. I think that he thought that if he is the one to ruin it he won't get hurt along the way.
I think Wade and Zoe bring out a lot of good qualities in one another. As I touched on earlier, Zoe’s ambition rubs off on Wade and he is motivated to better himself because of her. Likewise, Wade brings out a sense of community and connection in Zoe. She also becomes less elitist and more attached to the town.
Wade shows his wing 8 as he is more rebellious and laid-back than a wing 1 would be. I also think that his conflict with Zoe over the battle of the bands shows his wing 8, as I think he felt like Zoe was trying to control him.
Tri-type: 9w8 - 4w3 - 6w7
Some quotes to describe Wade’s traits and motivations:
“Maybe I'm not 100 percent sure that you [Zoe] wouldn't hurt me if we started things, but I know that I have never felt about anyone the way I feel about you. And I guess that I realized it's worth the risk.”
“Maybe I wasn't happy being a - a placeholder for George Tucker.”
Wade: “I know it's not fair, but you wrecked by heart, Zoe, and I can't do this again.” Zoe: “What if I promise that I won't hurt you?“ Wade: “I guess... I don't trust that you know how to stop yourself.”
Zoe: “What is our son gonna think? That he can shirk all his grown up responsibilities by batting his lashes and getting some woman to do it for him?“ Wade: “Well it is the Kinsella way.”
Zoe: “Do you think all small towns are like this one?” Wade: “I'd like to think so, but something tells me probably not. I know I love ours.” Zoe: “Me too.”
Wade: “Sometimes I just think you're just the saddest person in the world. You're always looking over your shoulder wondering what life should be instead of taking it for what it is. You're not honest about what makes you happy. You what I'm going to do tonight, I'm going to go home and play video games for two or three hours.” Zoe: “Oh, good for you. Dream big.” Wade: “What I'm not going to do is beat myself up for playing video games instead of saving the world. If I wanted to save the world, hell, I'll do it tomorrow.” Zoe: “If you have time between video games.” Wade: “EXACTLY! Cause it's my choice. Just like it was your choice to stay in Bluebell, just like it was your choice to be a G.P. instead of a super sonic space surgeon or whatever. And it was your choice to go to bed with me. Clearly and something about everyone of those choices make you happy. The problem is they don't match up with the picture you made up in your head about what your life should be.”

hello! what do you think are the mbti types of the hart of dixie characters (mainly, wade kinsella)?
I’ve only seen a couple of episodes, so I can’t do full typings (yet) but…
Zoe has inferior Fi problems. She has a lot of technical knowledge but a poor bedside manner. The series is all about her learning to grow into her Fi. Lots of extrovert behaviors and problems – instant adaptation (sort of) and thinking on her feet. Her “I follow in dad’s footsteps” seems superficially Si, but she doesn’t know a thing about patient soothing – an ESTJ would know you have to take a certain approach to get people to like you, which shifts me more toward ENTJ (she also tends to over-drink / get drunk and make out with total strangers when she’s ‘down’ which is more indicative of Se-loops). 3 core, but I doubt 2 wing. Her irritation with Wade is 3-1 based. I’m guessing 3w4 1w2 7w8 so/sp.
Lemon is a bit trickier. My instant hunch is ESXJ. She’s an extrovert who is also a socialite, always organizing everything and self-involving, which leans me more Fe than Te. She has trouble letting go of the mayor and her former relationship, assuming she still ‘needs to know’ about his personal life. She is free and open with whether she likes/dislikes something and focuses all on appearances, so I’m thinking ESFJ with a 3w2 core. She’s traditional and past-oriented, doesn’t like new things but does adapt to them (SiNe). Not sure about her lower fixes, but I think she’s an so/sx. Her boyfriend/fiance seems SJ.
Wade is probably an ESFP. SP for sure, and I didn’t see much TiFe. Generally motivated by the desire to ‘have a good time,’ people-oriented, something of a party boy – kind but also naturally doesn’t think of others. I’d say he’s the 279 tritype – wants things pleasant and to have fun. Either a 7 or a 9 core. (He was hardly in the first two episodes, so he’s the one I’m the least sure of. Sorry.)

Hart of Dixie: Lemon Breeland - Type 1w2
Tumblr media
Lemon is poised, elegant and traditionalist. She is hiding hidden depths beneath her Southern Belle persona.
At her best, Lemon is selfless and deeply caring towards the people she loves. She puts her own needs aside so that others can be happy.
At her worst, Lemon can be manipulative and hypocritical. She knows that her actions are wrong, but tries to hide it from others.
Lemon is a very traditional person who tries to follow the expectations of the Bluebell community. She pictures herself with a certain life and she works hard to attain it. Lemon convinces herself that she wants this picture perfect life, but is ultimately dissatisfied with it. For example, at the beginning of the series Lemon had been dating George for a substantial amount of time and they were the town’s golden couple who were heading towards marriage. Lemon was seriously unhappy in that relationship, but tried her best to convince herself that it was what was ‘right’ and tried to fix the flaws within their relationship.
Lemon also shows that she is very organised and capable. She is leader of the Belles, which requires a lot of planning and organisation in terms of events. Lemon dedicates herself to the Belles and feels like it is her legacy and duty as a Southern woman. She puts in a lot of effort towards the Belles and at times, has to do things that she finds unpleasant or that she disagrees with to advance in stature with the other Belles. Lemon eventually realises that she is unfulfilled doing this and she shouldn’t stay with the Belles just because it is how she thinks her life ‘should’ be. She finds herself pursuing new opportunities and finally doing things that actually make her happy.
Lemon can come across as a bit of a control freak and is extremely perfectionistic. This manifests itself in different ways throughout the series, but we mostly see it in her work with the Belles and later restaurant ventures. Lemon has a very particular idea of how things should be and wants them done her way. At times, this can affect her relationships as this may lead to disagreements. For example, when she opens a catering business with Annabeth the two clash as Lemon is bossy and controlling. She wants everything to match her ideas and was not receptive to any of Annabeth’s ideas that may have conflicted with her own. There are similar trouble spots with Wade when the two own the Rammer Jammer together.
Tumblr media
Lemon’s relationship with Lavon shows many of her good and qualities. The two complement each other well and bring out the best in each other once they are officially together. We find out in season 1, that Lemon and Lavon had an affair while George was living in New York. Lemon formed a strong bond with Lavon very quickly as he was there to comfort her when she found out that her mother had another family. Lavon showed her understanding and support that she simply wasn’t receiving from George. Lemon felt very strongly for Lavon, but all throughout season 1 she tried to repress these feelings as she felt they were ‘wrong’. She was ashamed that she had an affair and was very keen to hide this wrongdoing from George and the rest of the town.
We see that Lemon really cares about Lavon for the whole duration of the show, even though they do not officially get together until the final season. Lemon is often selfless with respect to Lavon and wants what is best for him, which sometimes means sacrificing her own happiness. In season 2, she wants to try and form a relationship with Lavon but does not want to sabotage his happiness with Ruby. Similarly, when Lavon and Annabeth begin to form their own relationship, she initially is very against it but chooses to let them be happy together.
Lemon is afraid to be vulnerable and tries to project a icy exterior to the world. She harbours a lot of insecurities, especially regarding her mother’s abandonment but does not want to show this. Lemon finds herself more open as the series goes on and I think that part of that is due to Lavon being a safe space to confide in, free of judgement.
Lemon shows her wing 2 as she is more people-oriented and extraverted than a 1w9 would be.
Tri-type: 1w2 - 6w7 - 3w4
Some quotes to describe Lemon’s traits and motivations:
“I mean I still hate and I'll hate you until your dying day”
“Do you have any idea what it was like to grow up without a mother? Sometimes I would pretend that you were dead so I didn't have to live with the fact that you chose to leave us.”
“You may be a snobby New Yorker with horrible fashion sense but at least you have a career”
“Annabeth we're not animals, we can control who we do and do not sleep with.”
“I know that you will be a good mother, Zoe Hart. A really good mother because you are tough, and you are kind, and you are smart. And if you tell anyone that I said that, I will deny it.”
“Lavon, I've been waiting for the perfect moment, and I certainly didn't think that it'd be a time when I am covered in alpaca droppings and mud, but I just cannot wait any longer because I love you.”

Hart of Dixie: George Tucker - Type 6w7
Tumblr media
George is hardworking, quirky and loyal. He has a strong sense of duty and community towards Bluebell.
At his best, George is calm, rational and measured. He is understanding and does not overreact to situations as he normally would.
At his worst, George is deceptive and neglectful to others. He prioritises his career and does not consider the effects that this has on Lemon. George is not supportive of her and does not care to listen to her problems.
George seems to have a strong sense of loyalty and fidelity, which are very important to 6s. As a result of this, George stayed in his relationship with Lemon for many years, despite both parties seemingly falling out of love with each other. George is also very reluctant to pursue his feelings for Zoe because he is in a committed relationship and he doesn’t want to betray Lemon’s trust. Once he breaks it off with Lemon, he wants to start a relationship with Zoe, but the timing is always off, leading to both him and Zoe moving on from their feelings.
Tumblr media
Throughout the series, George’s main motivation is to settle down in Bluebell and have a normal life. In almost all of his relationships, he seems to want to take the next step, and isn’t one to have meaningless flings. George is always aware of other people’s feelings, as we see when he feels like he needs to ask permission from Wade to date Tansy.
George likes to follow the norms and rules of Bluebell. He doesn’t like to break the rules, especially if it means he will be put into positions of danger. This is very common in social 6s, as they believe that following a system of beliefs or rules will help them stay safe. In my opinion, this is one of the main things he had in common with Lemon, as they are both very law-abiding and risk-averse.
George shows his wing 7 as he is more extroverted and expressive than a 6w5.
Tri-type: 6w7 - 9w1 - 3w2
Some quotes to describe George’s motivations
“Guess George Tucker isn't as predictable as you thought.”
“Say that one of your flock had developed feelings for the most spoiled, irritating sheep in town and he wants to rid himself of said feelings.”
“When you love somebody you figure it out. You know it's gonna take some time, and you're gonna make some mistakes. You might look back at years of your life and say what the hell was I thinking, but not when there's love. The only real mistake that you can make is to let that love slip away.”
“I lost our save the date cards because I'm having doubts.”
“If that's how you think Zoe sees you, then you should talk to her. Don't let it drive you crazy.”

Hart of Dixie: Lavon Hayes - Type 2w3
Tumblr media
Lavon is caring, supportive and charming. He is the town’s mayor, which is something he finds very rewarding.
At his best, Lavon is a supportive and caring friend. He is loyal to Zoe and treats her with kindness even when the town hates her.
At his worst, Lavon is possessive and needy. He finds himself consumed by his romantic relationships and defines himself by them.
Lavon is one of the most prolific members of the Bluebell community, in no small part due to his former career in professional football. Despite his fame and notoriety, he is a small town person at his core and loves his town. When Zoe meets him, she cannot believe that someone as successful as Lavon has stayed in a small town like Bluebell, but he loves the sense of community it brings.
As the Mayor of the town, Lavon often helps the other members of the town and tries to do what is best for them. He is an active member in his community and is always willing to lend a helping hand.  Lavon really enjoys being the Mayor and it brings him a sense of purpose that was lost when his football career ended. When he is competing for Mayor against Ruby, it is clear that Lavon likes being Mayor because he truly cares about the town and wants to help them.
Tumblr media
Lavon is very supportive and is always there to listen to people in need. We see this in his relationship with Lemon, as he sees that Lemon needs someone to confide in and so he helps her through finding out her mother had another family. Similarly, he always listens to Zoe’s problems and stories and is happy to give advice to her when she needs it.
Lavon's relationship with Lemon, showcases many of his best and worst traits. We see that he is a very stable, kind and supportive partner towards her. However, we also see that he can be a bit vindictive towards her. In season 2, he blames Lemon for the end of his relationship with Ruby and he is very cruel towards her. This is something that can happen in type 2s, who can get vicious, spiteful and overly personal when they feel hurt.
Lavon has a wing 3 as he is more extraverted and competitive than a 2w1 might be.
Tri-type: 2w3 - 9w1 - 6w7
Some quotes to describe Lavon’s traits and motivations:
“I understand. Okay? Look, I'm the last thing you should be worrying about right now. And Lemon Breeland, I am all in. I'm yours, and I will wait. I promise.”
“Now I know how much Annabeth means to you. Okay, she means a lot to me too. But Lemon, I love you. Everything I did today is because of that.”
“You love him. He loves you. There has to be some way to figure things out. Just don't close the door is all I'm saying.”
“Some people say that women can't have it all... Those people obviously never met Lemon Breeland.”
Zoe: “Picture me with both guys... Who do I look happier with?” Lavon: “You really need to get a girlfriend”

Hart of Dixie: Zoe Hart - Type 3w4
Tumblr media
Zoe is ambitious, quirky and intelligent. She cares a lot about her career and is very focused on her calling as a doctor.
At her best, Zoe becomes more connected to the town and more in touch with the needs of others.
At her worst, Zoe is materialistic and elitist. She looks down on the town at first and thinks of them as simple.
When we first meet Zoe she is solely concerned on becoming the best heart surgeon in New York. Becoming a cardiothoracic surgeon had been Zoe’s dream since she was a child. I believe that Zoe connected her success in becoming a heart surgeon to the approval and love of her father. As this dream meant so much to Zoe, she focused almost all of her energy and determination into it which led her to miss out on some normal experiences. I think that this led to Zoe being somewhat clueless towards the emotions of others. When we first meet Zoe, she has missed out on her fellowship of choice because she had such an abrasive bedside manner to her patients. 3s can tend to become single-minded in going for their achievements, so much so that they become unaware of the consequences that their actions may have towards others which is what I think we are seeing in Zoe at the beginning of the show.
Zoe can tend to be a bit materialistic and superficial. We can see that she is concerned with her appearance and is always sporting the best fashions. Zoe is also concerned with her image in the sense of wanting people to perceive her in a good light. Zoe wants to have a good reputation and wants to be respected by the town. At times, Zoe can have a bit of an overinflated view of her self. We see this when Zoe returns to Bluebell from New York. She is expecting there to be a parade and for everyone to be so excited to see her, when in reality most people are upset with her for leaving without telling them. When Zoe realises that people think poorly of her, she kind of goes into damage control because she doesn’t want her image to be tainted.
Zoe is very concerned with status and I think she has a bit of a tendency to think of herself as above others. We see this when she first moves to Bluebell, as she thinks of the town as uneducated and behind the times. On a similar note, Zoe initially gravitates to George because he is a lawyer which she thinks is a ‘good’ job and he is the kind of person she thinks a person of her status should be with. I think this notion, lead to her denying her attraction and feelings for Wade as she felt like he was only a bartender and undermined him because of his job.
Tumblr media
In her relationship with Wade, Zoe grows into a more well-adjusted individual. Wade helps her to see that things should not always be so serious and helps her loosen up a bit. He helps Zoe see beyond status and allows her to realise there are more important things in life than career. On the other hand, Zoe helps Wade to settle down and become more driven.
Zoe has fairly balanced wings and I think the wing she prefers depends on the situation she is in. I settled on 3w4 as early on in the show she had an attitude of being more achievement focused rather than getting others to admire her. She also had a preference to work hard for her achievements rather than use charm to get by. I think that in Bluebell, Zoe learned to lean more into the 2 aspects and shifted her perspective a bit as being a GP is more interpersonal than being a surgeon.
Tri-type: 3w4 - 1w2 - 6w7
Some quotes to describe Zoe’s traits and motivations:
“People can conquer miles, any sort of obstacle, if it’s meant to be.”
“Is it too much to ask for just one medical emergency? You know a rare illness, a blunt force trauma, an outbreak.”
“I am a strong and confident woman Wade. And I know that from the fact that I have had sex with no less than four other men, okay, none of who have complained that I am in great in bed. GREAT! Just like I am at everything else I do. I don't have anything to prove to you! You got that?”
“I am a capable person. I can handle this, just like I handled childhood, college, medical school.”
“I wrote that I am a thriving and beloved G.P. in a small town where everyday brings a new medical adventure and I'm changing lives and healing the world by reinventing healthcare in Bluebell, Alabama.... I may have exaggerated a little.”
Zoe: “You really put yourself out there, I was so scared that it wouldn't work and that we wouldn't have anything in common that I kind of sabotaged it. But the thing that I realized was that I like you Wade Kinsella. I really like you. And who knows maybe there's a chance you and I could be happy together. But we'll never know unless we try.” Wade: “What are you saying?” Zoe: “What I'm saying is that would you maybe consider being my for real out in public, everyone knows about actual boyfriend?”
