Day 1 of Inktober 2022: Gargoyle Far from their rather sinister and grotesque connotations, Gargoyles, if one were to read the Da Vinci Code, derive their name not from their apperance but from their functionality. Gargoyle comes from the Old French word Gargouille. This is in reference to the gargling sound made in the gargoyles' throat as it is used as a water spout, albeit a highly decorated one despite its appearance. Now for my take, I remember all those years playing the Harry Potter PC Games and we could interact with the gargoyles in Hogwarts by casting spells to open secret doors and passages for bonus loot. But we can't forget the Lumos Gargoyle, cast Lumos and it lights up the way to show secret passages and platforms. Instead of some new finished pieces (it’s been a hectic week), I’ve decided to share some new and old sketches from my sketchbook!! . The first one is a sketch of one of the best girls in the world: my uncle’s dog, Toffee. Done sometime in 2018. . The second one was a new one for me at the time! I had taken a selfie and did my best to draw then ink it on paper. To make it more interesting, I created a makeshift mirror around it. Done Jan. 24, 2018. . The third one is also something new for me! I’m currently listening to the Harry Potter audio books (gotta love Stephen Fry) and I was so inspired by the scene being set, I wanted to try my hand at some illustrating (Half Blood Prince: chapter 3).
