Gallbladder (buds and gallstones)
Examples of gallstones under the cut, based on observation :
Tumblr media
Gallbladders are my favorite organs to dissect because you'll v-never know what you will find when you open it (and i've put the wrong color for the biggest gallstone oops)

kaycee has slowly been becoming a creacher but what's she gonna look like when she's 100% creacher/leshy/changeling/wildling/???
ough..
Tumblr media
i dunno! i think i technically have already drawn her as 100% creature when shhe has grass growing all over her body. then its just a matter of attaching animal limbs to herself! if she lives hundreds of years she could possibly grow very large like Leshy.. but her having anything but a premature death seems unfitting to me. sorry girl but youre so sucks.

I generally spend summers out west visiting with my parents because it's much colder out there, which is better for my chronic illnesses. I figure that there's nothing much keeping me here during the summer, especially because it's not really safe for me to go outside when it's hot, so until something comes up that makes traveling for long periods less attractive (like a job that requires me to stay put, a partner, home renovations, etc.) I'm gonna keep doing it.
But brooooo the only thing that makes me occasionally consider staying here for the summer is plants. When I used to stay here during the summer, before my parents moved to California, I used to grow the most beautiful plants. I have this raised garden bed that I got when I first moved in and I've never really gotten to use it because I'm just never here during a full growing season anymore.
I have grow shelves in my office and that's nice, but it's nothing compared to actually being able to grow tomatoes and stuff in my garden. And OH if I were able to use that space out there to get a little apple tree! One of the self-pollinating ones with multiple varieties! Or one of the dwarf peach/nectarine combos...
I'd cry!
But those things need a little babying and I'm just not here enough to do it properly. Which is sad, because gardening is actually pretty good for my mental health. And while I love my parents' area, a lot of fruiting plants just do not do well in that environment. I love the plants that are there, but every time we've tried to do tomatoes or cucumbers or something, they just do not thrive at all. Way too cold and gray. We can grow pea pods, but I hate pea pods...
*staring into space daydreaming about franken fruit trees because someone on my dash had the misfortune to reblog something about plant grafting*

Contemplating committing an act of horticultural hubris.
So. We had this pear sapling that got broken two times in a row.Whatever pear variety was grafted on there didn't survive, but the rootstock did, and is currently a large, healthy tree that produces large amounts of tiny, round, barely edible pears. I also have several feral old variety apple trees in the area that produce really nice apples and that I would love to have in my garden. The pear tree is also getting a trim soon. So. Can an apple scion be grafted onto said pear tree or no? I have a vague memory of my great-grandma's garden having one such tree but a) great-grandma was on a whole other level when it comes to gardening b) I was five so idk how it was done.
Has anyone tried this?
I have grown things from cuttings but never grafted anything before.

Prompt #454
System A is a dryad that has had many branches from other trees grafted onto it. As a result, the system has one core in the form of the original tree spirit, and many fragments from the branches of other trees.

i like how everyone tentatively agrees in the tags that there's a possibility that Legato is part plant.

5/14/24 ~ Also picked up more grafted Cherokee Purple & Brandywine tomatoes that were going to get tossed at school. These are way bigger than mine - but they have been in the greenhouse. I noticed they have whiteflies, so outside they go without hardening them off 😅

Gisela x Vespera (for the ship thing)
cracks in the looking glass (and you’re staring back)
universe: canon
canon compliance: 5/10
category: collection of snapshots
summary: so I really want to play on that dynamic of the two of them and I think Gisela especially before she had keefe and whatnot really looked up to vespera as kind of the paragon of what she wants to be. I’m thinking she’s doing all this illegal research, stumbles along vesperas work and slowly falls for the elf behind it really idealizes her and her work and sets out to recreate her life work but for her own purposes build on it. When vespera teams up with her she’s overjoyed except vespera sees her as someone who’s multilated her life work and is only working with her bc imprisonment is the only other option, but she recognizes Gisela’s infatuation with the elf she made vespera out to be so does her best to use that to her own advantage yada yada they’re toxic and horrible and the other Neverseen members are just like woah man I don’t know if I signed up for this. Vespera is slowly realizing gisela is a younger her and starts to develop a weird almost affection but not really in an effort to guide her while still ruthlessly taking advantage of her. Gisela eventually realizes vespera is using her is pissed etc etc and eventually does the murder oopsy and tries to remain unflappable but she does in fact have feelings about it
excerpt: The elf in front of Gisela was nothing like she’d imagine and simultaneously exactly how she’d pictured. Her cheeks are gaunt, veins visible under thin pasty skin. Her nose is all sharp angles, bent slightly to one side as if it had been broken before she’d lost most of her body with.
Her eyes are the most vibrant thing about her, cool blue like the midsummer sky and Gisela can’t help but freeze for a moment, hands frozen as she went to adjust her cloak. Words swell up and shrivel in her throat, everything she’s ever planned on saying seeming inadequate.
Her chest pinches as Vespera tilts her head, gaze locked on her like an animal locking in on its prey. Her lips twist and her eyes narrow as she takes Gisela in, locking her in place.

people who are super obsessed with their food being Pure and Natural are so funny. I think if you explained tree grafting, and that every apple they've ever bought came from a grafted tree, their head would explode

Another tomato graft took!!! This one is Multifort + Black Trifele. I ended up killing all of my Black Trifele tomatoes last year on accident, so I'm hoping I get fruit from them this year! I've heard good things about them.
