People keep assuming that the demigods are shorter than they are, general observation is that the Tarnished is at crotch height for most of them, including Malenia. I have spent way too many hours guarding them around for photos and every time I want them to move, I need to headbutt into their groin area so it made a lasting impression. I made this collage for reddit originally but why not share here as well. If you even care.

im wondering if elden ring has references and inspirations to annihilation/southern reach series
annihilation mentions a crab with a human face on it, the face of one of the past expedition members. meanwhile the crabs in elden ring above godwyns corpse are mutating to have his face on their backs
godwyn himself feels like hes inspired by the crawler to me. underground, infecting the entire rest of the land, passively and clear without reason, maybe instinctevly? but also he seems to be a horrific mix of biology. between clams, fish, man, flies, and treeroots, hes become this mash of concepts. just touching him could implant death in you
the mimic tears themselves feel like a very direct concept. annihilation has several instances of people being copied
the erdtree itself too seems to follow the same idea of annihilation. in annihilation, a meteor crashes on earth and whats in the meteor begins to warp and change the world around its range growing more and more, everything under its gaze is not immune to it
its heavily implied that the erdtree itself crashed into the lands between, and from this, it began to take over (with the help of marika). the greater will wants nothing more than to expand its control over the land and bend those to its will.
thematically too, the erdtree is kind of like a lighthouse, right? visible from all of the lands between shining its light, it serves as a reminder and as a reference point to its inhabitants

it's so funny to play dark souls because i can spend hours playing it a day and make zero fucking progress at all while also losing 3 levels worth of souls in the most random ass place with zero chance of getting them back
#saltposting bc i lost my retirement savings in the abyss staircase TWICE#now it's just like lmaaao let me go to new londo ruins -3 hrs later- you know what nvm#-goes to dukes archives. 3 hrs later with 0 progress: akchualli lemme go to... uhh... catacombs#5 hrs later 0 progress: nvm fuck this place#so i do another round in the painting having the best time#but at one point ill have to progress#apparently there is also some lake area i never found with these siofra-like trees
