Introducing myself Hey so I am new in this app and I just wanted to put a few details about me out there.
Hey so ,I'm LJ and nineteen. I am from Germany.Besides being politically interested and active through demonstration (for LGBTQ+ rights, against the far-rigth) and similar things, I have a lot of other interests.
My favourite Fandoms are by far Good Omens and Doctor Who. But I love gathering cool information about the world of The Lord Of The Rings and The Hobbit too. Additionally I recently re-entered into the Marauders fandom.
I have quite a few hobbies, I like creating art (my favourite materials are acrylics watercolour and fineliner), enjoy video games ( could play Skyrim for hours), like to read ( more to that at a later point) and I write poetry, which to be all honest isn't that good, but I love it regardless. Sometimes I even try to write my own songtexts but that is a bit difficult to me.
Speaking of songtexts and music, my favourite artists are Hozier, Elton John, The Oh Hellos, Florence + the Machine and The Velvet Underground. But I like to listen to some German artists to, especially Kraftklub, Alligatoah, Die Ärzte , Yu and Nachtkinder. The last one is pretty unknown, but they've got a bit of a Nirvana vibe going on and I can recommend listening to them.
I also love books and stories in general, especially Oscar Wilde or Neil Gaiman (my favourite of his is Good Omens but The Sandman is a close second). And as cliché as it migth sound, I adore Shakespeare. I've fallen in love with his works when I was 13 and saw a rendition of Macbeth, but I must say that I love the sonnets even more.
I hope to find some people to talk about mutual interests on this app, and maybe even find some friends. I am a bit socially awkward but once I'm more comfortable I am pretty talkative.Anyway I hope everyone who reads this has a good day/nigth.

20 QUESTIONS GAME
Thanks @practicecourts for the tag!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
13
2. What's your total AO3 words count?
15,980
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Mainly HP.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Rain (179 kudos), Hand Cramps (87 kudos), Rules Don't Apply (86 kudos), Do You Want To Know A Secret (72 kudos) and I Saw Her Standing There (56 kudos). Hand Cramps and Rules Don't Apply are for another fandom, though (Julie And The Phantoms).
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Always. Always. Who doesn't? They literally make me so happy, they're all so nice and kind!
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Definitely All My Friends Are Gonna Be Strangers, since it's set right after Halloween 1981 and it's from Remus' POV.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Either I've Just Seen A Face or I Saw Her Standing There. They're both get-together fics so I'm sure James and Lily were rather happy about that.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
No, thankfully!
9. Do you write smut. If so what kind?
I don't, but I'd love to. I just don't feel confident enough at the moment so I suppose I'll wait until I have more fics under my belt.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
No, I even struggle writing outside of canon so crossovers are out of the questions (for me, at least).
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of and I'd be surprised if that happened. I'd be a bit flattered, though, not gonna lie (I absolutely don't condone it, of course).
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No, but I've considered translating some of mine in Italian (my mother tongue). However, I physically cringe if I really think about it because I don't think I can write fiction in my mother tongue. It feels foreign to me (lol). It doesn't come naturally.
13. Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
Nope. I'd love to, though!
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
Honestly I have no idea, because I've been in so many fandoms in my 27 years of life but I guess Jily. It's weird to think about it because I've been a HP fan since I was a kid, and I had always been fascinated by the Marauders but for some reason I never thought about reading fics about them, and I've created stories in my mind set in the HP world but with different ships or OCs, and their dynamics were exactly like James and Lily's (enemies to lovers, soldiers in the war and so on). It's like my subconscious was trying to tell me something. I got into Jily fairly recently, in late 2021 and usually I hyperfixate on a fandom or ship for 5-6 months max, but i'ts been over two years and I'm still as obsessed with them if not more. Jily has been the ship I've been looking for my whole life.
15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
It's either my 7th year get-together canon fic I'm Looking Through You (I've posted the first of three snippets in August 2022 and I haven't worked on it since March) because it has angst and canon-typical violence and they're exhausting to write, and I have written maybe 3k but I expect it to be at least 12k and I've never written anything over 4k and I don't think I'm capable; that, or my Muggle AU All Things Must Pass, which is sad as fuck because James dies in it and I have only written two scenes and I wept like a baby (also, this is supposed to be a long one too, 10k at least, and I don't think my heart can take it right now).
16. What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue, I think. I love writing it so much, I'm usually very proud of it and I've gotten a few compliments about it.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Literally everything else. I don't know how to write descriptions, they feel forced most of the time and the few times that I write something I like rest assured that it took me hours to make it work.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
That's technically my whole thing since I'm a native Italian speaker lol; I also speak French and Spanish and when they randomly appear in a fic, I can tell when they're written by someone who isn't fluent. I don't mind it though. I'd probably feel comfortable writing dialogue only in Italian, but I suppose I could try with the other two languages.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Either The Chronicles of Narnia in 2008 or something, or One Direction in 2011 (I hate myself for it now, because I don't like fics about real people).
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
Ah, this is hard! Should I say Rain? I'm really proud of it because it was a real challenge, but I have a soft spot for my Blackevans friendship one-shot Do You Want To Know A Secret? and I've wanted to write a sequel to that for the longest time.
I'm tagging @kay-elle-cee, @nodirectionhome-ao3 @jamesunderwater @startanewdream @annasghosts and whoever wants to do it! I don't know if you've already been tagged and it's okay if you don't feel like doing :)

⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚ about eri !
hello ! so first and foremost, my full name is erilyn. i go back 'eri' as a nickname. i started this blog because i love to write & recently got into the marauders fandom as a joke, but now i'm emotionally attached. there's no turning back now, i suppose
this is going to sound super pick-me, but i swear it's true. normally, when i have a conversation with people, i try to keep the topic more directed toward them because i have a hard time talking about myself. so i very sincerely apologize if this post is structured weird, worded strange, or anything like that. i'm genuinely struggling suuuper badly right now #help
okay, anyway ! some of my favorite to do are read, write, listen to music, and snuggle my cats. it's a pretty short / bland list of grandma hobbies, but i love them more than life itself.
one of my favorite books is obviously atyd, it's what i read to first get involved in this little community, so it will forever hold a dear place in my heart. regardless of how basic of an answer it comes off to be. but as for physical (non-fanfic) books, my favorite is definitely powerless by lauren roberts.
i've been writing for as long as i can remember. there are pictures of me as a baby writing shit down as though it actually meant something. but when i was thirteen, i decided to actually write for a purpose ⎯ which would make my work mean something in an attempt to make baby eri proud. i've written a TON of short stories, and a few original completed books. none of which are published, of course. my imposter syndrome is far too severe for that kind of commitment..
since i mentioned music, i'd love to list some of my favorite artists (i say that as if anyone actually gives a shit). my all time, forever number one favorite is hozier. he's everything to me. his music means so much, and the poetic nature behind his lyrics is everything i strive for my own writing to come off as. a few other artists i enjoy : lana del ray , david bowie , noah khan , the weeknd , queen , mac miller , the lumineers , coldplay , benson boone , arctic monkeys , the smiths , rhcp (red hot chili peppers). as well as so so so so many more. my music taste is honestly all over the place, and i apologize, but i wouldn't trade it for the world because it's literally entangled into my soul & makes me who i am.
oh my god now i get to yap about my cats! AHH!
i have two kittens (they're over a year old now, but i will forever & always see them as my little baby kittens, fuck off). their names are indie & teeves. indie is super cuddly and loves her momma to death. she hides from everyone who isn't me, and will scratch you if you look at me the wrong way. teeves, on the other hand, is waaaay less sociable. she hides from everyone ⎯ like indie. but unlike her sister, teeves hides from me as well. nobody can ever find her unless she eating or using the bathroom. i'm a tad bit offended by her ignorance, but as long as she's happy i'm happy.
alright i'm done yapping now ! i'm honestly surprised if you made it all the way through my rambling, seeing as none of it was interesting for anyone except me. i hope you guys enjoy my page & my writing provided. if you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask, my DMs are always open if you need someone to talk to. i love you guys !!!

View - All The Young Dudes
By MsKingBean89
AO3 Link: https://archiveofourown.org/works/10057010/chapters/22409387
Through my time on AO3 scouring for Harry Potter fics, I have constantly scrolled past this title as it rose through the hit list, eventually claiming the summit with as-of-now nearly 11 million hits. And each time, I have been put off by its length (1300 pages as a pdf) and even more so by the fact that I simply did not find Wolfstar a compelling enough ship to dedicate so many hours of my reading time to.
My accidental foray into Jegulus (which I shall write about in the future), however, stoked in me a love for the age of the Marauders and the beauty of the tragedy of their lives. So, I have now read this monster of a fic, and for the most part, it was fairly good.
Remus Lupin grows up in a Muggle orphanage after turning into a werewolf. Friendship, love, and mischief await him at Hogwarts.
Pros:
-Doesn't diverge too far from canon and fills in a lot of gaps quite convincingly. I think I finally got what made so many people go crazy over the Marauders. Some of those pranks were nothing short of epic!!! ("Lumpy Elephant Dung" - I'm still wheezing 😂)
-I have always found it hard to think of Peter Pettigrew as a true member of the Marauders. And after this fic, I can truly understand where he comes from as a character.
-James and Lily were so well written, I'm squealing. So was the rivalry with Snape.
-I am generally not a huge fan of OC characters, but Grant Chapman owns my heart, my mind, and everything else that matters. What a life! What a person!
-Nice touches of period-specific Muggle culture, from Remus' perspective (so many good song quotes). Would have enjoyed some made-up wizard cultural pieces to go with it as well.
Cons: (these are some pretty glaring ones btw)
-Horribly OOC Remus. And Sirius. I understand that this Remus is true to his background as an orphan in the Muggle world, but still... It's Remus Lupin! And his transition to DADA prof was a bit jarring, to say the least. At no point do we see him interested in studying dark creatures. Where were his years spent traveling? Don't even get me started on Sirius.
-For all the nice moments and build-up the two share, Sirius and Remus share, and I regret to say this, dead-fish romantic chemistry. They were better of as "bosom friends" or something along those lines. Had to satisfy my romance needs with James/Lily.
-The tone of the werewolf scenes was very Teen Wolf and ABO reminiscent. Points for creativity, I guess.
-The entire war portion of the story needed more work. As tragic as their lives actually were, I barely felt any sense of urgency during their missions and even less sorrow for their deaths.
-No offense to the author; I don't know what went through their mind when they chose to write an epic Marauders fic (practically a biography), and ended it right BEFORE Sirius' death, denying me my self-promised bucket of tears 😑
For all my complaints, I still have to acknowledge the impact of ATYD on the Marauders and HP fandom. Depictions of some of the main characters have gone on to become fanon, for better or for worse. Tbh, I've always wondered why there was such an emphasis on Marlene McKinnon, Mary MacDonald, and Dorcas Meadowes in most of the recent Marauders fics; glad to get an explanation at last.
Would I recommend this? Definitely for the first 5 years of Hogwarts, and definitely not after that. Do read the fourth part in the series, a 2-chapter epilogue from Grant's perspective for some degree of closure, if you're gonna finish it.
Or if you wanted a better telling of the Marauders and the First Wizarding War with greater feels and canon compliancy, might I redirect you to Choices? To me, that's canon.

Hi! Can I have a Harry Potter (marauders era) ? My pronouns are she/her and I’m fine with male or female preference. You can ship me with anyone except for remus lupin cause my best friend is in love with him and she’s claimed him as hers 😂.
𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗘: 5'1", tanned brown skin, average build with mid length wavy black hair, super dark brown eyes and glasses. My style is every fandom section at hot topic.
𝗣𝗘𝗥𝗦𝗢𝗡𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗬: I’m a Slytherin and an INTP. My moral alignment is true neutral. I have massive introverted tendencies and am awkward in nature with new people. As a result I can come across as aloof and indifferent. However with my close friends (let’s be real I have like 3) I’m quite fiery, outgoing, and confident. Whenever I’m with my friends I can get really giggly, excited and dorky when talking abt my recent hyperfixations. I tend to either overthink everything or not think at all. I’m a bit of a control freak and want to do the things the way I do them but I won’t enforce this on anyone else. Just let me do things the way I do them. I'm also quite dedicated on what I want in my life and will stand by those decisions
𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗦: Art. Any art honestly. Though I mostly work with digital mediums. That is, I love to creative code. I’m currently studying digital media arts with the hopes to be a video game designer. Apart from this, I love other mediums of art too especially drawing, and digital illustrating.
𝗛𝗢𝗕𝗕𝗜𝗘𝗦: let’s just say I spend way too much time daydreaming. Fan fiction, video games, movies, books, tv shows. Anything that lets me daydream and disappear from reality for a while is a hobby of mine.
Thank you ❤️
Hello buddy! It's great to see you in my inbox again! Aahhh your information is screaming this guy's name!
I ship you with —
Mr. Mischievous James Potter !
Tbh , you'll know the famous James Potter , might've had a crush on him once(?) But you know he exists . Whereas our popular boy doesn't know that you exist ..
until the incident where he's hiding under his invisibility cloak and happens to pass by you and your friends . He was intrigued to see you being so outgoing and confident .
"How did I not notice her before?" He would question himself as he'd walk away .
The very next day when he finds you seated all alone and aloof , he understands that you're an introvert , but still comes to talk with you .
Gradually , you both become friends . And very much later , you both end up being a couple lol.
"Babe , i have a perfect face for your beautiful hands to draw me ." James would say and give another charming, yet funny , pose.
Your height difference would be so cute!
Just be aware that if you both become stubborn, it could be difficult for you both to stay together ! Remember that it's you + him vs the problem .
This relationship just gives me wholesome vibes!!!
Your best friend would be —
Remus Lupin
He's not exactly your best friend. This is how it started .
You were introverted , he used to be tired after his long nights .
You both used to relax in the library, where no one would talk with you , approach you and even look at you . You both sat in front of each other every time . Until it happened so that he'd keep your books ready if he were early to the library and vice versa! This is something really special though , you both start to feel comfortable in each other's presence to the fact that you both saved places for each other in the library!
Your secret admirer —
Severus Snape
He admires how you're always wanting things to go your way and you make them happen .
Your dedication is just another plus point for him to fall for you .
Eventually, this just increased his hatred towards James , who got the second girl Snape ever liked too .
Gifs —
THIS is definitely you and James pottah
Tumblr media
Even though it's not girl and boy , this is definitely you and James yes it is! Even though it looks like something between besties , it is how your relationship is!
Tumblr media
This is something serious happened to you , and he's comforting you!
Tumblr media
I hope you liked it!
Thankyou for the ask!

Why do I think Lily Evans (Potter) was not a good friend?
Until recently, the general opinion of the fandom was that Lily Potter was a good girl, deified and the representation of purity and goodness. But, doing a more exhaustive study of the character, we can get to see how Lily evans maybe was not so holy and made mistakes due to her education and, possibly, depending on the stage of her life where she found herself when she made those mistakes.
In relation to Severus Snape, I think she was not a good friend. Regardless of his age, which we all understand that we do not see friendship in childhood, adolescence or adulthood, she also had defects that compared to other characters in the saga, they were not a role model.
Starting from the little we know about her through the worst memory and Snape's memories, we are going to take some situations into account to assess her defects:
She blamed Snape for the letter Petunia sent to Dumbledore.
She got mad at Snape for dropping a branch on Petunia, even though he did so unconsciously and Petunia was rude to him.
The discussion with Snape about what happened with Remus (werewolf accident), his distrust of who was her friend and believing others before, not caring about Snape.
The lake scene, where she never addressed Snape once, as if he didn't know him and was just another boy to help.
The same lake scene, where she taunted Snape after he called her "Mudblood".
Now, let's talk about the problems at different levels (social, emotional, mental, physical and cultural):
Social: Snape comes from a lower social class than Lily and, although at first the girl Lily did not see the difference, I suppose that as time passed she realized that it did not look good for Snape to wear second hand clothes (surely ), he had serious problems in the family sphere, Snape's own unsociable nature that did not allow him to have a larger group of friends. In childhood we do not usually take into account the social variable when making friends with other children (pre-Hogwarts), but as she became related to the peer group at Hogwarts, she surely could not help feeling somewhat ashamed of the friendship with Snape . Let me explain, in Snape's adulthood it seems that no one knew about Lily and Snape's friendship, so it would be a secret friendship (and we all know that shame towards the other is what leads to secret friendships and relationships).
Emotional: Lily quickly connected with Snape because there was something she needed from him, and it was the knowledge and the desire to be accepted in a place like Hogwarts. Hogwarts was a new world that she did not know and Snape could offer her the security of knowing that world ... But, when she knew what she had to know, Snape had nothing more to offer her, but a clandestine and unrewarding friendship for her. It is not a mistake to think this, but it does show that she deliberately used Snape and that their friendship deteriorated over time. I think she might have felt friendship for Snape in a pure way, but when she began to be friends with the marauders, her emotional level turned towards these guys and she began to move away from Snape. I think the dark arts were an excuse to end the friendship, wanting to get away from him in an interested way ... it's easy to think that, when you really feel empathy for someone, you try to make the effort to understand that person, to know why him he likes the dark arts. However, she Lily was not able to understand him, understand his fears, his insecurities and the need to flee from the hell where he was stuck.Referring to the lake scene, I think Lily had a complete dissociation from Snape by now, she didn't defend being his friend, she didn't speak to him directly even once, and when he made a mistake due to the situation, she scoffed of him and "flirted" with James.
Mental: I think Lily never understood the true meaning of friendship, not at least as she later taught us Harry by understanding Ron and Hermione and accepting his flaws, even when this child was only 11 years old. I think that Lily, as soon as she could, got rid of Snape because she no longer wanted to have an uncomfortable friend, a friend who surely helped her for years in her studies at Hogwarts (I mean surely potions). Snape was like a teacher for Lily in her access to the magical world, he helped her in the study and knowledge of the magical world and I think that Lily stopped seeing usefulness when she already found in Gryffindor and the marauders the way to go her way . I mean, I think she coldly weighed whether or not she was interested in staying friends with Snape and she conveniently cut off the friendship when she got the chance. Lily showed herself to be a cold person who did not understand what Snape was in her whole and who did not appreciate all that he had done for her.I know that calling her "Mudbloods" was not right, but instead of trying to understand the shame and harassment that Snape felt at that time, she broke off the friendship and remained friends with the stalker, the one who emotionally blackmailed her and who continued to be a bully. No one can convince me otherwise.
Physical: here we will talk about the implications of a person who is not really physically attractive. There are studies that determine that people who do not fit the standards of beauty tend to have fewer opportunities in social relationships, love relationships or even find a job. With all this I mean that, when we are children, we do not care about anyone's physical appearance, but when we reach adolescence, our group of equals teach us the canons of beauty, which is considered handsome or what not. In this case, I think Lily was superficial. That is to say, Snape was not physically attractive, surely he did not look comfortable being with him because she was a popular, pretty girl, and he was attracted to a boy who was much more attractive than Snape (even though James was, in my opinion, uglier emotionally and disrespectful to others, adding being a bully). Lily preferred to go for the handsome boy rather than choose a loyal friend who was unattractive.
Cultural: At this level many factors enter, but here I will choose to talk about the differences of ideologies and different culture between Slytherin and Gryffindor. As we know, both houses were enemies, they were the contrast between good and evil in the Harry Potter saga. Slytherin represented everything bad and Gryffindor everything good. Here we also talk about the peer group (that is, a group of people that we consider our equals and from whom we learn cultural, social, emotional and behavioral factors), where Lily in the end ended up choosing to choose Gryffindor and be immersed in ideas prefabs that already existed about Slytherin even though, surely, many ideas were not true. Some of these ideas were hatred towards the "dirty bloods", defending the purity of blood, ambition as a negative element and cunning as if it were something bad that always leads to cheating.Where I see these preconceptions most clearly is in the scene where Lily argues with Snape for defending Mulciber, etc ... in this scene it seems that Lily puts the marauders before (she is supposed to talk about them) because they are from her house and believes that what Mulciber does is worse because he is in Slytherin. Being in Gryffindor, she is believed to have the moral superiority and the right to claim Snape to choose a position, when obviously Snape, like Lily, will choose their peer group. The point here is that Lily prefers to believe the marauders and put Snape in the guilty position, without even asking if his friend is okay or asking him what he saw ... Lily is not interested in knowing what happened because surely he was content with James's version and would always doubt any version Snape could give it.
Up to here, I did my study. It is a bit lazy, I wrote it on the fly and remembering some of the knowledge I acquired when I was studying Pedagogy. But, in essence, I hope you have understood. In the end, Lily opted for what she considered to be okay based on ideas and beliefs that she ended up having with her peer group. She put her friendship with the marauders first and decided to coldly and selfishly eliminate her friendship with Snape. In the end, we have all had friends from whom we have moved away because they no longer shared things with us (although I can presume that I never alienated anyone for thinking differently or liking things that I did not like), but also friends that we have from all our lives, with those of us who do not like things about them, but accept them and try to understand them, where the company of that person is valued more and we do not care what they tell us. It is true that the "peer group" exerts a lot of influence on us, despising those who consider strange people or have unusual habits for the majority of the population. But Snape and Lily met in childhood, this factor should not have been decisive for their estrangement and, I am afraid, that in the almost of Lily, he ended up accepting the conditions of his peer group to the detriment of maintaining a friendship that so much contributed. I don't hate Lily, I have no problem with her, for me she really is a flat character, too overrated and that only has a few three lines in the entire Harry Potter saga. It is impossible to empathize with her as we would with other characters and she hardly has any development of her. The most remarkable thing about her is that she gave her life for her son, otherwise she showed us a girl who had a strange friendship with Snape and who married the popular boy of her time.

Not Impossible
Fandom: Harry Potter Pairing: Marauders & Male!Reader Summary: It’s all theoretical, really Word Count:  1,822 A/n: Just like End-Game we can ignore the flaws of time travelling here
Tumblr media
“Professor?”
You looked at your head of house, she sat in her office, looking up at you confused to why you would venture out for her at the hour, very early in the morning before breakfast as even started. You looked sheepish, your tie done loosely and your shirt untucked for its pants.
“What can I help you with?”
“I have a question, one that I usually asked Professor Dumbledore, but seeing he’s not here I would go to the next best professor,” McGonagall smiles at your compliment, “If you were to go into the future with a time turner, unlikely but not impossible when you return to your time - will you have the knowledge of the future sticking in your memory? I know that you cannot be seen by your future or past self, but other people?”
“Why do you ask?”
“Curiosity, ma’am,” You replied with a shrug, standing at her doorway, “After all, I did get hat stall with Ravenclaw, curiosity is just natural with me.”
“Well,” McGonagall hums, thinking before looking at you with sharp eyes, “I would assume so - explain further by what you mean.”
“Say I travel to the future, I have married with kids, and my kids see me - I know their names and who I marry, but not asking how it came about, technically I am not ruining the future because I’m not stopping what will come to be, right? Therefore, I should remember my time in the future and is the reason I named my kids because I met them.”
“Interesting,” McGonagall nods, “I would assume, by your logic, you would be correct - though I do wonder how you came to this conclusion.”
“I asked dad once why he called me (Y/n),” You say, there was a thoughtful look on your face, “He said I’ll understand in due time - it’s always has stuck with me so I was just thinking-”
“If your father travelled in the future and met you...”
“It’s unlikely, but not impossible.”
McGonagall had a twinkle in her eye, as if she knew something, a few years ago a group of boys come barreling into her office late in the night. You looked at her uneasy before she comes to approach you, placing a gentle hand on your shoulder.
“You are correct, try not to think too much for it. You have exams to concern yourself with and a quidditch match tomorrow to think about.”
“First game against the slimy-”
“Umh!”
“Sorry,” You looked at her sheepishly, “With the Slytherin team.”
“Well, off you go, I don’t want us to miss breakfast and look smart - your father looked better in that uniform than you do!”
You smiled cheekily before dashing away from the office, McGonagall locking her office for a time being, there was a glint in her eyes as she noticed the date. Reminding herself to tell your teachers of the day that you’ll be missing on their lessons for special reasons. You walked down to the great hall, you had quidditch practise that night. Your robe draped over your shoulder bag as you tried to look presentable.
That was until you heard voices murmuring, as you went closer to an empty classroom you could hear harsh whispers. Out of curiosity, you opened the door to see four boys looking like they were just caught. Your eyes widen as they had Gryffindor ties - you know all the boys in your house, after all, prefect went to you rather to Ron - who was very relieved
“Who are you and why are you posing as Gryffindor boys?” You asked as they looked at you with wide eyes.
“We’re um-” The long hair boy spluttered, looking at glasses for support.
As you gave them a harder look, you realised something, you had recognised them, old pictures in your dad’s photo album.
“I know you!” You exclaimed.
“Oi Lupin!” Your head snapped outside to see Seamus waving you down, “You’re going to miss breakfast!”
“Fuck off Finnegan, no I won’t,” You say as the Irish boy chortles before dragging his friends away from you.
You sighed as you entered the room and closing the door behind you, looking at the boys in front of you.
“You’re James Potter,” he waves, as you turn to the long-haired teen, “And you, Sirius Black!”
“Yeah, I am.”
“You’re Remus,” You smile fondly, how can you possibly miss your dad’s awkward smile? Before turning to look bitter, “And Peter Pettigrew.”
“How do you know us?” James asked.
“What year is this?” Peter asked meekly.
“Hang on,” Remus exclaimed loudly, “We’re ignoring that they said you’re a Lupin, but I don’t-”
“The year is 1996, late April, and I know you because how can I not? You’re famous whether you like it or not,” You replied, shrugging your shoulders, “By any chance have you fiddled with a time turner?”
There was silence as you crossed your arm, sharply looking at them before James broke under your stare - it was all too familiar.
“No?”
“James,” You say lowly before he looks at Remus who reveals that he had the time turner around his neck, “You’re all idiots, the lot of you!”
“Well, we’re aware of that,” Sirius says boldly, as you glared at him.
“Well, I don’t know how long you’ll be staying here. But, you better fix it. Because what you’ve created is a paradox. This shouldn’t have happened.”
“Ah, unlikely but not impossible,” Remus pointed out.
You opened your mouth before closing them, this is what your dad means when you’ll soon find out about your name. You finally picked up on McGonagall look towards you, you sighed, running your hand down your face.
“Well, breakfast will be ending in half an hour, you stay put and I mean it - I’ll help you sort this out and you go back to whatever year you are in. How old are you even?”
“Sixteen, the lot of us, Wormtail here just turned sixteen two weeks ago.”
“Oh cool,” You answered, nodding, “Guessing in nicknames that you’ve recently able to shift into your animagus forms?”
“Yeah, how do you know that?” Peter asked as you had to hold back a glare for the lad, he’s just an innocent sixteen year old who has the whole world coming for him.
“I know you guys better than the world does,” You shrugged your shoulders.
“You haven’t answered Lupin’s question,” Sirius says.
You smirked, “You’ll find out in due time. Now, will you guys promise to stay put if I get food for you?”
They all looked to each other and nodded, you sighed in relief as you placed your bag down, before leaving the room. The group of boys looking loss before obeying and getting themselves comfortable, you had returned with goodies.
“I’m starving!” Sirius says, ready to pounce before Remus grabbed the back of his collar, “Aw, Moony!”
“Sorry about them,” Remus says as he helps you out to distribute food, “Thank you.”
You waved them off as the five of you get to work in how to get them back to their year, not much with you telling about the future for them, but dropping sublet hints for them.
“I miss Evans,” James sighs wistfully, the three other boys ignoring him - used to his pining as you stare at him, “What?”
“Oh nothing,” You hummed before looking back at your books - which you had to make a trip to the library to bring the boys some books to look for information, “Have you ever tried referring her with her first name?”
“Trust us, Evans is scary when you call her by Lily,” Sirius responded, “I tell you, bloody scary gingers - the lot of them.”
“Tell me about it,” You say thinking about Ginny Weasley, what a fiery girl, “Well, don’t give up James, might work out.”
“You think?”
“I think.”
“James, you’re asking someone from the future - it would make sense, he would know,” Remus replied dryly.
“Do I have a kid?!” James asked excitedly.
“I’m not telling?” You give him a look, “I’m not an idiot in telling you that, Merlin’s beard, knowing you idiots you would ruin the bloody future. My future - if anything, the only one I trust is Remus!”
“Yeah, make sense,” Peter answered, even you chuckled in his response.
“Well, I’m not surprised - you do share a last name.”
You give them a glare before they all got to work. You sighed back, by midday you were hoping to find a resolution.
“God, I’m going to be tired for practice,” You yawned as you shut the sixth book of the day, standing up to stretch, “Angelina is going to be pissed.”
“You play quidditch?”
“Yeah? Chaser,” You say, before waving it off, “Not important really.”
“I think it is, Remus doesn’t like playing quidditch but knowing that you a Lupin does - it’s fascinating!” James teases as you rolled your eyes.
Your quidditch practise started at seven, luckily it was about five that you were able to finish up with the group of idiots. You had neatly stacked some books to bring back to the library. You had a nice day, you learnt more stuff about them, stuff that you wouldn’t have known, you got them to talk about their time at school.
“We’re making a map, of the whole school, but we’re not really sure what to name it. We don’t have a group name for us, by now we were hoping someone in school would name our group for us,” Sirius mention before James nudges him, telling him that he shouldn’t have told you.
You a bit preoccupied, answered without a thought, “Oh, marauders fits you idiots quite well.”
“Marauders?” Peter asked inquisitively.
“One who roams from one place to another, it fits well with a map if you ask me,” You hummed before looking at them, all of them huddled with a chain around their necks. Remus holding the time turner, he looks at you.
“Wait, we never got your name or who you are,” He says, you smile at him.
“Oh, I’m (Y/n) Lupin, I’m your son,” With that, you started the turns of their time tuner, as Remus looks at you wide-eye, “Told you, you’d understand in due time.”
With that, you step back watching the boys fade away. You sighed and continue with your dad as you left the classroom to make your way to the library then to the great hall, you just can’t help be send a strongly worded letter to your father - hoping he reads it to Sirius.
“Bunch of wankers,” You muttered to yourself.
“Are you okay, Mr Lupin?” McGonagall asked as you looked at her, “Muttering yourself again? How was your day?”
“It was eventful, more than I thought it would be.”
“Well, I shouldn’t keep you too long, hope you had a lovely day.”
You nodded, “Yeah, what an unlikely day I’ve had.”

I feel like the biggest differences w/Gen Z in comparison to some of the older Generations' works are that they're willing to take the Marauders into different universes as children and write about them in a more contemporary style.
Young/new adult (17-28) and older readers were first introduced to Sirius and Remus as 33-year-old individuals, so it was easier for those readers to write S & R as adults attempting to grapple with their background and trauma and grief than it was to reach back and try to make their Hogwarts years more accessible. I think Gen Z writers are coming in and reclaiming their life experiences as young people growing up with technology and texting and the realities of being Online All the Time in a way that older authors weren't doing at the time. I assume part of that comes back to the development of technology and the schisms that exist between gen x/millennial/gen z readers on that front, but I also think older writers may have been less aware of some of JKR's bullshit, which made it less uncomfortable to stick to canon environments and scenarios.
Barring 'All the Young Dudes', many of the currently popular wolfstar stories take place in non-magical settings (college AUs, sports AUs, etc), and while those aren't exclusively written by the youths™, I think their prolificness has likely been influenced by JKR's shitty behavior; it's a lot easier to divorce those characters from their author's terrible views when you remove them from the world she created. That also plays into how large of a factor the characters' queerness plays in the narratives being planned—and as you mentioned, the influx in fics that feature trans, NB, or genderfluid characters is a great side effect of these shifts.
Also, having spent a fair amount of time reading fics in the fandom, I think there was a bit of a high bar to clear in terms of writing quality early on. There are always posts going around that recommend more "literary" wolfstar pieces, and a fair amount of them tend to skew older (specifically: before 2010). By and large, online communities seem to have embraced the "everyone has to start somewhere" mentality a bit more in recent years than they had then, but I distinctly remember getting comments when I was writing in the 2000s where people would drop in to tell me I had utterly mischaracterized someone or that my grammar was bad. All for constructive criticism, but I do have to wonder if the "flame" reviews forced people to either conform to what people were looking for (literary, stylistic writing), switch to another platform (LJ to ff, or ff to Wattpad, etc), or stop writing altogether.
Nowadays, I think our younger authors have an idea for a fic and just...go for it. They don't always have beta readers (which aren't inherently necessary, but can definitely impact style, structure, and word choice) so they'll post things as they come to them, they've got fan-pages on instagram and tiktok and tumblr where they make textposts about characters using modern slang that get hundred of likes/reblogs—they've found a formula that works for them, and they aren't inclined to change it (see: how many texting fics exist). Beyond that, relying on conversational and colloquial writing means they can process their emotions in real time while writing, in a way that we as older writers definitely could have, but didn't usually. When I was reading fics then, and even rereading some of those fics now, it always seemed as if fics danced around trauma a bit more delicately than some of the popular fics do now.
That's not meant as a slam to younger writers, but I do think young people on the internet these days are FAR more willing to share about their personal trauma(s) online, and when they write their fics, sometimes that's obvious. Older authors do/did it too, but I think it's usually a bit more strategically veiled than younger authors are now. It was a poetic thing, and arguably, not always a good one, considering the way mental illness/saviour complexes could often be romanticized. Young authors now fall into the same patterns, which again, aren't great, but I also think that they're the first to acknowledge their own mental health crises and say it hasn't been a great experience—even in a joking manner.
I could go on about this for DAYS but I've already written you an essay, so I'll leave it there hahahah
Thank you for the essay!!!! I love all of these points. Yes, I have also noticed that the big fics in this corner of the fandom tend to be the non-magical AU ones--fics that essentially follow the plot structure of contemporary romance novels, but just so happen to have characters named Sirius and Remus in them. I mean, any one of those fics could have the serial numbers filed off and be published as an original romance book, you know? Up until now, I was just chalking that up to the popularity of romance novels--I figured that the writers were just replicating the structure of the books like they like to read, but in fanfic form. But you bring an excellent point--it might be more that they're trying to divorce the characters from the world JKR created.
This is fascinating. I'm loving all the meta that's ended up in my inbox today.

Remus sticks his finger right through the wall of James’s pot. “Glory hole,” he says.
James looks up at Remus, wounded. Sitting on the short wooden stool as he is, his knees are bent up by his ears. He has wet clay smeared to his elbows, on the lenses of his glasses, at the tip of his nose. “Dude,” he says.
“I think we’re doing quite well, really,” Sirius says. He lifts his own pot, currently the least lopsided of the bunch, but the too-wet base sticks to the table. Sirius peers at them through the open bottom like using a telescope. “Here I am, eating my words.”
“This was going to be a nice pot,” James says, watching his damaged piece buckle on its weak side like Pisa.
“It’s still a nice pot,” Remus says.
“What, are you guiltless?” James says. “You destroy the fruits of my oh so earnest labor and then you sit there like doing so didn’t snag a single thread of your luscious moral tapestry, fuck you, Remus.”
Remus offers a big, bright grin that catches on his eyeteeth. “It’s funny. That’s more important than whether or not it hurts your pride.”
“This—this is my pride,” James says. “Understand, Remus, that there is a subliminal metaphor within everything. You single-handedly—single-fingeredly, even—just eviscerated everything I have worked to create in my seventeen years of life.”
There’s a rap on the edge of their desk. James startles about a foot into the air.
Sirius, beside him, looks lazily up through his lashes, then offers Professor Burbage a charming smile. “Hello, dear.”
“I should’ve known better than to propose a creative assignment,” she says, pinching the bridge of her nose. “Make art like muggles do! Get into the cultural mindset! It’s hands-on, a break from the readings, the kids will love it! Am I an idiot?”
“It wasn’t your best idea,” Remus says.
“Just don’t make… a mess,” Burbage says, slumping away like they carve years off her life.
Sirius pinches a piece of clay off his fallen pot and hucks it at Burbage’s retreating back. It sticks in her hair.
Remus huffs. “Boring, Padfoot,” he says. He holds his palm out expectantly. Sirius delightedly hands over another wad of clay, which Remus places on the neat stretch of the second phalanx of his middle finger, then flicks it at Marlene one table over. It hits her ear, a glancing blow, before dropping to the floor. Marlene swats a hand mindlessly, like she assumes a fly or a loose strand of hair is the culprit. Remus waits a moment, then flicks a second piece of clay with the skill of a trained marksman; it hits the same spot. A third piece, and Marlene scowls into the air, looking for the origin. She finds, of course, nothing telling, as Remus is hunched over and carving zig-zagged stripes into his pot with singular focus, Sirius is forming a generous clay phallus, and James has dropped his head onto his folded arms, staring despondently at his ruined pot.
“I’ll kill you all with one blow,” Marlene says anyway.
“Good afternoon to you too, Miss Presumptuous,” Remus says.
“Mar, Remus ruined my pot,” James says, holding it tenderly aloft, the corpse of a child. So new to life. So naive yet. “Look at this.”
“Ha, glory hole,” she says.
“Ha!” says Remus while James scowls.
“Unbelievable,” James says. “You all prefer it when I’m miserable.”
“Oh, I’m sure he’ll make it up to you in droves later, you wet fucking fart,” Marlene says. “Now stop throwing stuff at me, I’m trying to finish this drawing and frankly I think it’s going spectacularly well.”
“I hope someone pokes a glory hole in it,” James says.
Marlene flips him the bird, then turns back to her desk, where she finds Dorcas doodling stars and hearts on her paper. “Well, fuck. This was going to be art, Dorcas. The fruit of my labor, Dorcas.”
“Karma,” James says. He reaches out a hand and Sirius gives him a bit of clay. James smushes it against Sirius’s cheek, which has Sirius snapping his teeth at James’s fingers. James withdraws sharply, tucking his hand to his chest with reproach. “Stay away. I haven’t had my tetanus potion recently.”
Remus presses his knee to James’s under the table. “If you add a little mouthpiece to that abomination of a pot, I reckon we could smoke out of it.”
James’s mouth falls open. “I forgive you. I forgive you, I forgive you—” he leans forward to smack a kiss onto Remus’s lips, grabs a fresh hunk of clay from the wet pile at the center of their table, then gets about rolling it.
Remus, meanwhile, has lost his aloof veneer; he’s bright red from forehead to collarbones, lurid enough to hide his freckles. Sirius looks between the two of them consideringly, then leans forward, presenting his cheek to James, who drops a kiss there to keep things even.
“We are going to figure this out,” James says, grinning with his bright madman eyes and his tie askew, “and we are going to get absolutely snockered. Lily taught me how to smoke out of an apple, you know, and this has got to be easier than that. It’s just got to be.” He rolls the now flattened piece of clay around his pinky finger, then presses the bottom of that cylinder to his pot’s glory hole. Sirius gives a fake, high-pitched, sexual whine that has half the class shooting them looks, but James doesn’t notice. He inches his pinky out of the clay tube. It promptly collapses. He stares at it, crestfallen. “Aw, pot,” he says. Then, affronted, to Remus, “Well, yours is good!”
Remus pokes his pot. It had better be good; his mother is a ceramicist by trade. “Yeah,” he says. James stares at it, brows knit. “Jamie, you can have mine,” Remus says. “Alright? Does that make you feel better.”
James’s scowl softens at the edges. “Yeah,” he says.
“What about me?” Sirius says, fringe falling in his eyes as he violently chucks another clump of clay at Mary MacDonald across the room. She hurls one back, hitting Sirius on the forehead, then pumps her fist proudly. Sirius is wiping splatters of wet clay out of his eyebrows as he clarifies, “What do I get, then?”
James holds his failed pot out, spout hanging elephant-trunk limp. “Glory hole,” he says.

Summary: Gideon and Fabian Prewett meet a new Auror-in-training.
Tumblr media
“Prewett!”
“Yes?” Gideon Prewett and his brother Fabian answered at the same time.
“Both of you,” Alastor Moody barked. “Come here.”
Gideon jumped up from his desk and followed Fabian around the corner. Moody was standing in the doorway of the Auror office with a younger man.
“This is Sturgis Podmore, our new recruit,” Moody growled. His look was meaningful. “Podmore, this is Fabian and Gideon Prewett. They don’t look like much, but they’re decent Aurors.”
“Thanks,” Fabian muttered under his breath. But ‘they’re decent’ was as good a compliment from Moody as one could hope for.
Gideon studied Sturgis. He was good looking. A bit shorter than Gideon, but not by a lot. He had a Beater’s build, with broad shoulders and a square jaw. His short hair was dirty blonde and his eyes were a clear blue.
Gideon smiled and stuck out his hand. “I’m Gideon.”
Sturgis took the outstretched hand and shook it firmly. “I recognize you from school. I think you had calmed down a bit by the time I got there, but the older students talked about your exploits like they were legendary.”
The brothers caught each other’s eyes and grinned.
“You just graduated, then?” Fabian asked.
“Just this year, yeah.”
“You can chit-chat while you show Podmore the ropes, okay?” Moody’s tone was annoyed. “Rufus will be training him, but as he’s out today, you can show him around.” He handed Gideon a folder and left the office without another word.
Sturgis gave the brothers a nervous smile.
“Well,” Fabian began, leading the way back into the office. “You already met Moody. And yes, he’s always that cheerful. I’m afraid we’re all you’ll meet today.”
“That desk there,” Gideon gestured to a cubicle as they passed. “That’s Kingsley’s. He was my mentor. He’s one of our best, but he’s on an undercover mission currently.”
“Our Head is, of course, Tiberius Scrimgeour.” Fabian pointed to a separate office off of the main one. Tough old bat. He’s been in meetings with the new Minister all day.”
“Because of the recent attacks?”
Gideon and Fabian exchanged dark looks. “This is your desk,” Gideon stopped. Then the brothers sat at two desks facing each other across a narrow aisle from Sturgis’.
“That’s where everyone is right now?” Sturgis pressed. He leaned back against his new desk and faced the brothers.
“Yes,” Gideon sighed. He ran his hand through his light ginger hair. Then he noticed that Sturgis was watching him.
“Scrimgeour’s son, Rufus, is also an Auror,” Fabian said. “He’ll be your mentor. He was mine too. He’s tough, like his dad. No nonsense. But he’s good.”
Gideon opened the folder that Moody had given him. It was Sturgis’ file.
Name: Podmore, Sturgis E
Blood status: Half-blood (father)
DOB: 10 March, 1957
Education: Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
House: Hufflepuff
Extracurriculars: Quidditch (Beater), Wizards’ Chess, Duelling
Qualifying N.E.W.T.S.: Defense Against the Dark Arts (Outstanding), Potions (Exceeds Expectations), Transfiguration (Exceeds Expectations), Herbology (Outstanding), Charms (Outstanding)
Application status: Approved
Gideon looked up to see that Sturgis was biting his lip nervously. He grinned. “Impressive!” He handed the file to his brother. Sturgis looked relieved. “We don’t get many Hufflepuffs, it’s a nice change.”
“Why do you want to be an Auror?” Fabian looked up from the file.
“There’s a war on,” Sturgis said. “I can’t sit back and do nothing.”
“My sentiments exactly,” Gideon agreed. They smiled at each other for a moment, then Sturgis looked away.

free space!! pick any two you either want to or haven't done yet! <3
excellent prompt, anon!  thank you for humouring me. here are the two i chose:
29. What’s more difficult? Fanfics or original work?
the fangirl manga has just come out (though not yet in the UK - which is rubbish. why? was the boat too slow??) and also i got asked this question recently, so i’ve been thinking about this bit where rainbow rowell saw into my head:
“I know Simon and Baz. I know how they think, what they feel. When I’m writing them, I get lost in them completely, and I’m happy. When I’m writing my own stuff, it’s like swimming upstream. Or … falling down a cliff and grabbing at branches, trying to invent the branches as I fall.” “Yes,” the professor said, reaching out and grasping the air in front of Cath, like she was catching a fly. “That’s how it’s supposed to feel.” Cath shook her head. There were tears in her eyes. “Well, I hate it.” “Do you hate it? Or are you just afraid.” Cath sighed and decided to wipe her eyes on her sweater. Another type of adult would hand her a box of Kleenex about now. Professor Piper just kept pushing. “You got special permission to be in my class. You must have wanted to write. And your work was delightful—didn’t you enjoy it?” “Nothing I wrote compared to Simon.” “Good gracious, Cath, are you really comparing yourself to the most successful author of the modern age?” “Yes,” Cath said. “Because, when I’m writing Gemma T. Leslie’s characters, sometimes, in some ways, I am better than her. I know how crazy that sounds—but I also know that it’s true. I’m not a god. I could never create the World of Mages; but I’m really, really good at manipulating that world. I can do more with her characters than I could ever do with my own. My characters are just … sketches compared to hers.”
my degree is in english and creative writing.
my original work was fine. i never really wanted to write it though. my ideal writing job would probably be hack writer in a sitcom where the characters were invented by someone else and you just have to move them around and write funny lines for them.
i love the idea of being a writer - but i don’t think it’s for me, and i felt ripped off at the end of ‘fangirl’ when cath won a prize for her original work, even though i also thought all along ‘why don’t you just write something to pass? i don’t understand! just write anything.’ i didn’t want her to learn that professor piper was right. she wasn’t right!
33. Do friends and family know that you write fanfics?
people were talking about this the other day in chat, but i arrived too late to weigh in, or maybe i only thought i did. anyway.
the answer is - some of them do.
my family all know, because when i was growing up (not that long ago, but it feels like ‘last century’) we only had one computer. also, i an egomaniac, so i told my parents they could read my livejournal - i would guess the embarrassment had already passed by then. they have never wanted to read my fic, thank god, and we never talk about it.
my school friends know as i just forced them to talk to me about it. at least most of them thought remus/sirius was ridiculous and gloried in the ship’s downfall.
my university friends know - some of them wrote fanfic themselves, and my room was covered in marauders fan art.
my girlfriend and other friends i literally met through fandom know - as you’d expect.
a very very very small number of my friends i made at work/any friends i made in the last ten years know. a number so small that it is practically 0, but isn’t quite because i did nanowrimo with one of my publishing friends and eventually had to admit that what i was writing was gay doctor who porn. but i really try not to tell people IRL now, as i have a grown up job, and i think they’d think it was super weird.
i’ve told a small number of work people that i like ‘carry on’. but you know, like a normal person likes a book.

Fic Writer Interview
@wanderingbandurria I am fully considering myself tagged because I want to talk about writing!!
Name: BrujaBanter on AO3 and BubbeBruja here (because...it’s my whole identity in one title).
Fandoms: Harry Potter. Mostly Wolfstar, but I’ve been doing/wanting to do more femslash lately and have one trans!Hermione fic as well. I am far too obsessive a person to have more than one fandom at a time, but when I was a teenager I was weirdly obsessed with CSI and Criminal Minds.
Where you post: AO3 and Tumblr (I guess sort of?) and somewhere out there is a very old FF account with a LOT of Nick/Greg (CSI) content, including one in which I made a sex scene out of a Spanish lesson and...got the Spanish wrong? Mira, I was 15, it was a weird time in life.
Most popular one-shot: The Incomplete Recounting of Four Nonconsecutive Tuesdays in the Spring of 2002. Oh that weird, dear fic.
Most popular multi-chapter: Come Healing. My babyyyyy.
Favorite story I’ve written so far: Oh goodness. My current WIP is definitely the closest to my heart, but Come Healing was a very special journey and probably the finished product I’m most pleased with. Actually, yeah, Come Healing definitely wins. I really love that dumb, precious story, and it was really my first foray back into fandom of any kind.
Fic you were nervous to post: Get My Pretty Name (Out of Your Mouth), because femslash is complicated and special and delicate and also significantly less popular. Also I wrote and posted it on a whim in three hours.
How do you choose your titles: I thought I was soooo specialllll using song titles or lyrics, come to find out I am definitely not. But I am very intentional about using songs by artists of color/queer artists/trans artists. The Incomplete Recounting of Four Nonconsecutive Tuesdays in the Spring of 2002 was named because it was a weird, unorthodox fic that needed a weird, unorthodox name. My most recent WIP was named by....divine intervention? Who knows.
Do you outline: I outlined for the first time ever with my current WIP and literally put in parenthesis afterwards ”An OUTLINE? In THIS ECONOMY?” But I had too many ideas floating around very quickly and needed to put them somewhere. Maybe I’ll become someone who outlines things now. Probably not though.
Complete: All except my current WIP, Love & Blowjobs & Other Sacred Things. I’ll die before I leave a fic unfinished. Actually, if I ever have an unfinished fic, it’s probably because I have, indeed, died.
In progress:  Love & Blowjobs & Other Sacred Things and OH am I ever having fun. It explores all the things my very nerdy brain loves, and I’m hoping it can do some important work in the process. Also working on my Fireside Fest submission and it’s...getting away from me a bit. Death is a character in it? We’re having a strange time, that fic and I.
Coming soon: Like 30 more chapters of L&B&OST (wow what a totally non-clunky acronym I’ve created there wow). Also my Fireside Fest submission. Theoretically. Also I have a fic that just came out via Wolfstar Games, but it will remain anonymous for a while yet. Also at some point I should probably start thinking about my Marauders Fest fic. Someone tell me to stop signing up for fests, damn.
Prompts: Y’all I have like 20 Tumblr followers, who is sending prompts??? I mean, I’ll totally take them, but this question is highly overestimating my popularity.
Tagging @ruinsplume (PLEASE tell me all about your writing) and @swottypotter (unless you’ve already done this in which case ignore me) and @eschatona (ONLY if you want, no pressure) and @fforsythiaaa (unless, again, you’ve already done it. I probably should have checked.)

Happy Holidays*, Have a Fic Rec List!
So I realized recently that even though I didn’t start interacting with people until like September, I got back into The 100 last January, even if it was mostly just scrolling through the tags to see what was going on. I’ve been absolutely floored by the writing talent in this fandom, and everyone I’ve interacted with has been so warm and welcoming, which has only encouraged me to write more. So to mark my almost a year of being a lurker and as a fun sort of holiday present to everyone for being so nice, I thought I would go through all my bookmarks and AO3 history and find some of my favorite fics I’ve read this year and share them, complete with commentary somewhat like the way I leave comments on AO3! I’ve read so many more amazing fics than just these ones (which is surprising because I’m a really slow reader), so thank you to literally everyone who writes for this fandom, because you’re all superstars! I get so excited every time someone shares something new, and my marked for later list just keeps getting longer.
This list is mostly Bellarke, but there’s also a couple Murven and one Memori. It’s also abundantly clear that I read mainly modern AUs, so I didn’t bother separating canon things from modern things, but I did separate the complete works and the WIPs. And if I don’t know someone’s Tumblr, I’m just gonna link their AO3 profile!
*I’m pretty sure only one of these fics has to do with a winter holiday, so sorry if that’s misleading!
Complete
Your words on my skin by not_a_total_basket_case Bellamy/Clarke, Rated G (Multi-Chapter) This is the first The 100 fic I ever read, so obviously it has to go first on my list. I don’t read many soulmate AUs, but I liked that soulmates communicated to each other through notes on their skin. The whole thing is just so soft, and I’ve read it a bunch of other times since my first reading. Also bonus points for Clarke and Bellamy being absolute idiots in love.
Feels Like Reckless Driving When We’re Talking by Chash Bellamy/Clarke, Rated E (Multi-Chapter) In this one there’s an age swap, so Bellamy is younger than Clarke, who’s a single mom in her 30s. Bonus points for the presence of Murphy and Emori to help get Clarke out of her head and out of the house so she can meet Bellamy, a hot younger man!
so i sing a song of love by @hiddenpolkadots Bellamy/Clarke, Rated M (One-Shot) This is my comfort fic! I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve read it, but it’s one I keep going back to. I love a good friends with benefits complicated by feelings, and also in this case, pregnancy.
I’ll always wear the crown that you gave me by bellamysgriffinprincess Bellamy/Clarke, Rated G (One-Shot) Best friend’s brother is one of my favorite tropes, and I really love the evolution of Bellamy and Clarke’s relationship throughout the story.
Talking with You in the Dark by @bettsfic Bellamy/Clarke, Rated E (One-Shot) This is like “oh my god they were roommates” adjacent (since they’re neighbors), which is what I like about it. I think I’m just a sucker for stories where Bellamy and Clarke’s relationship kind of evolves in a very natural way. Also the simple ask of wanting to share a bed with someone because you’re lonely is such a mood.
the naked truth by @kombellarke Bellamy/Clarke & Murphy/Raven, Rated E (Multi-Chapter) Speaking of “oh my god they were roommates”! This fic has so much great angst! It’s probably the angstiest thing on this list! I’m not sure if I can adequately put into words my feelings about this fic, other than it’s great, and I feel like everyone’s read it already, but here it is so you can read it again!
guess it’s never really over by @captaindaddykru Bellamy/Clarke, Rated M (One-Shot) I love how even when Bellamy and Clarke are divorced, they’re clearly still so in love. It’s why the idea of them having another kid together didn’t sound absolutely absurd to either of them, and that’s the tea.
You Should Still Take Me Home by @eyessharpweaponshot Bellamy/Clarke, Rated T (One-Shot) This has many things I love, which are fics about New Year’s, friends with benefits, and a college setting. It’s the dream! And it’s really cute!
Here’s What I’ve Got (The Reasons Why Our Marriage Might Work) by @marauders-groupie Bellamy/Clarke, Rated T (Multi-Chapter) I have been trying to come up with the words to describe the way this fic made me feel literally ever since I read it, but my God, I still feel like what I say wouldn’t do it justice. Also there is a very particular word I’m searching for that I have yet to land on. It’s so beautifully written, and I love stories that begin after the couple has broken up. Also they’re actors, and I love a celebrity AU!
Potions et Patroni by chants_de_lune Bellamy/Clarke, Rated T (One-Shot) I love anything to do with Harry Potter or Hogwarts, so adding Bellarke to the mix was just right up my alley. If you haven’t noticed, I really love watching/reading the natural evolution of a relationship, which this fic does a great job of. Also if I were a student at Hogwarts, I would have thought Professor Blake and Professor Griffin were a couple the moment I stepped foot into the school.
starry eyes and galaxy minds (we’ll be dancing on the clouds at night) by @pawprinterfanfic Bellamy/Clarke, Rated M (One-Shot) If Bellamy were Spider-Man, I too would fall in love with him, solely based on his voice. When he removed his mask, him being incredibly attractive would just be an added bonus.
Eons With You by @she-who-the-river-could-not-hold Bellamy/Clarke, Rated G (One-Shot) Another great soulmate fic I stumbled upon! I feel like I’ve never gotten into soulmate AUs until this fandom, but that’s just truly the only way to describe what Bellamy and Clarke are to each other? So yeah, this one has reincarnation and the time periods that are in it are so vivid and great.
And in Other News... by @jeanie205 Bellamy/Clarke, Rated T (Multi-Chapter) News anchors! Who make the most perfect team on the planet! There’s some angst, but this is great fluff. And more bonus points for Clarke and Bellamy being idiots in love.
Rock Bottom by @detectivebellamyblake Bellamy/Clarke & Murphy/Raven, Rated E (Multi-Chapter) Wowee, I love so many things about this fic! Clarke and Murphy are my brotp, so I think that’s why I clicked on it to begin with. I hope to have a group of friends like this when I’m in my mid to late 20s, so I guess I’ve got a couple more years to get working on that. I also love that everyone ends up owning up to the shit they’ve done wrong and growing, which is something we don’t always get to see. And there are such cute moments between so many characters!
Burning Cities and Napalm Skies by @jarleene Murphy/Raven, Rated M (Multi-Chapter) Honestly, don’t remember how I found this one, but I’m so glad I stumbled upon it. I’m really only into Murven in AUs (as I’m low key Memori trash), but this fic just had me hooked. Also as someone who wondered if the show would ever question having to repopulate the human race, I was very on board with the concept. Dare I say bits of this more sense than the season 6 we were actually given?
feat. by Debate Murphy/Emori, Rated T (One-Shot) Please forgive the fact that I called myself Memori trash, yet there is only one Memori fic on this rec list. (But also, if anyone wants to rec me some Memori stuff, literally send it all my way!) I love musician AUs, so I was immediately sold on the idea of Murphy admiring Emori’s band’s music and wanting to write a song with her. It’s just so cute!
WIPs Not as many of these, because I can only follow along with so many unfinished things at a time, but these are ones I’ve been keeping up with!
If the Right One Came Along by @useyourtelescope Bellamy/Clarke, Rated M Another celebrity AU, with a side of friends with benefits! Bellamy is a famous historian, and I am here for that. Literally peak nerd, I’m so proud of him. I really enjoy Clarke and Bellamy’s dynamic as they have to figure out how to be friends again after naturally drifting apart when he moved away. And it feels like each subsequent chapter gets cuter!
All Because of You by @burninghoneyatdusk Bellamy/Clarke, Rated E It’s another best friend’s brother fic! This time with a pregnancy! I really enjoy that this story switches back and forth between the past and the present, so we get to see moments of Bellamy and Clarke when they were teenagers/baby adults, and we get to see them be amazing co-parents in the present as well.
The Hungry and The Hunted by @octaviadblake Bellamy/Clarke, Rated T As I said before, I love musician AUs, and I’m so absolutely pumped for more of this story. I’m a huge fan of Bellamy and Murphy’s dynamic. The 80s setting works really well, and I’m already preparing myself for the coming angst.
someone let the poets out by @kindclaws Bellamy/Clarke, Rated M Another actor AU! But this time, actors gone rogue! This fic is also really cool because it’s mixed media, so there’s little tweets and Tumblr posts and whatnot throughout, so I’ll give you the same recommendation the author does to not read this one on mobile.
That’s all I’ve got for now. But happy reading!

This or That: Fanfiction Edition
tagged by @omnishambolichologram - cheers!
I felt the need to link to a few of my absolute most favourite fics from various fandoms so ... that’s a thing that happened.
Slow burn or love at first sight: The burn makes the payoff that much greater, the slower the better. I want to be in physical pain by the time they kiss 100k words later.
Fake dating or secretly dating: I’ve recently read a couple of really good fake dating fics but I probably liked them so much because the fake dating turned into secretly dating. And apparently I have a thing for coming out scenes and/or others finding out.
“Oh no, there’s only one bed” or long distance correspondence: I mean, come on. Bonus points if they wake up accidentally cuddling and/or the whole thing was a setup by their friends to push them together. Long distance isn’t much fun, unless it’s a small part of something much longer.
Hurt/comfort or amnesia: Has to make up at least 90% of the stuff I read, probably because I’m drawn to cursed/disabled/mentally ill/fucked up characters in the first place.  --The Golden Bird by pierrot_dreams, original, E (very, very E), currently 170k - take those tags seriously, because I guarantee you WILL be triggered
Enemies to lovers or best friends to lovers: Again, I’ve read some excellent ETL fics lately but the ‘enemy’ part is always based on miscommunication (hello my beloved #stupidboys tag). I don’t do actual enemies (fuck off Drarry). Give me more of that slow-burn, childhood-best-friends, one-sided-pining plzkthx. --And they were right in front of you the whole time by Ihavecoldhands, Evak, T, 18k
Mutual pining or domestic bliss: I feel kind of cheated if a fic ends without a bit of domestic bliss, but I rarely read things that are entirely that. Mutual pining, particularly when it’s third-person limited and the pining is clearly mutual but the narrator misinterprets it or thinks they’re imagining it.
Smut or fluff: If I read a smutty one-shot there’s a very high likelihood that fluff is also in the tags. I like smut as much as the next guy but if there’s no feelings involved then I’m just not interested. N’awws before phwoars. --Mondays at Sixteen by @folerdetdufoler, Evak, E, 163k - copious amounts of both smut AND fluff, what more could you want
Fantasy AU or modern AU: I’m super picky about fantasy and sci-fi in general because worldbuilding is of vital importance and it’s too often poorly done. I’m also not really a fan of real-world magic or supernatural elements in a fic if they’re not part of the canon (including Hogwarts AUs). Modern AUs are a pretty safe bet and some of them are AMAZING. --There Are No Gays in Football by Malu_3 (Grainne), Merthur, E, 213K --Keep the Key Within Reach by SpiritsFlame, Mercy, E, 62k  --If You Look to Your Left, You Will See by unoriginal_liz, Thommy, E, 144k
Alternate universe or future fic: Future fic meaning a continuation of canon, or future as in set in the 24th-and-a-halfth Thentury? Either way, I’d pick AU. Especially when canon makes all AUs technically canon also (thank you Julie Andem).
Canon compliant/missing scenes or fix-it: I have TWO absolute-most-favourite fics to add here, one of each, so I can’t really choose between them.  --Trauma Medicine by Kispexi2, Mal/Simon, E, 168k - missing scenes; very possibly the best fanfic I’ve ever read in my life --Grow In The Openings by mindabbles, Wolfstar, E, 33k - because the only acceptable post-Marauders Era fic is a fix-it fic
Reincarnation or character death: Not really a fan of either but FUCK character death. No. Just no. Unless that character happens to be a canonically-dead hologram, or a canonically-dead wizard who is then brought back to life.
One-shot or multi-chapter: I’ll go for either but the longer the better. 450k slow burn angst with a happy ending? Yes hello that is my name.
Time travel or isolated together: I’m up for both but the only example I can think of is that Hornblower epic in which Archie didn’t die but he and Horatio were beamed up to the Enterprise, Beverly saved his life, they hung out with Riker and Troi and then Picard married them. (In the unlikely event someone knows this fic, LINK PLEASE.)
High school romance or middle-aged romance: Some of my absolute favourite fics are the latter, but given that my two most beloved ships mostly take place in high school, I have to say the former.  --In Case The Scene Gets Nasty by zarah5, Brendon Urie/Ryan Ross, E, 90k - I know people are squicky about RPF, and rightfully so, but this is hella AU and I shamelessly adore it
Arranged marriage or accidental marriage: Not a big fan of either, but the old What Happens In Vegas trope can be entertaining.
Sci-fi AU or magic AU: Really not into either; see above. HOWEVER, this is a good excuse to link to another favourite with supernatural elements which put me off reading it for ages, but god I’m glad I did.  --Burning For Your Touch by cuteandtwisted, Evak, M, 257k
Neighbours or roommates: Both have potential for shenanigans and different forms of tension.
Body swap or gender-bend: I have fond memories of a few Wolfstar body swap fics back in the early 00s (and of course, Rimmer and Lister). I’m all for gender-bending if canonically cis characters are written as trans or non-binary.
Angst or crack: Never really got into crack, although there has been the odd one I’ve liked. I prefer to have my heart ripped out, shredded into tiny pieces and slowly put back together again.
Apocalyptic or mundane: Mundanity tends to make the stakes internal rather than external, with more potential for angst and whump, and that’s basically where I live. But if we’re talking post-apocalyptic, then I have to recommend:  --Stars Fell On Alabama by saddle_tramp, original, E, 104K
I don’t know who to tag. If you’ve read this far, consider yourself tagged.
