Oh my gosh, y'all, I was ready to throw hands with someone on the Star Wars Facebook page!! 😡😡 Angry rant ahead! Slight spoilers but not really...

It started off with the guy saying the new episode of Bad Batch was "another filler episode", (which that word makes me SO angry already) so I told him that word is so overused and this wasn't filler. I even broke down the points of each episode that contributed to the plot as well as character development. Then we kept going back and forth about it and he questioned if we watched the same episodes and I'm like "clearly not cuz you obviously missed the point!" and he said "we didn't need 3 episodes in the prison". I told him there were only 2 in the prison: the first and the third because the second was centered on Hunter and Wrecker. Then this asshat had the nerve to say "The second episode was horrible and I tend to block out every episode with Wrecker because he's the worst Star Wars character ever created after Omega"............ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh the absolute RAGE I felt when I saw he said that!! 🤬🤬

I so wanted to say, "well no wonder you're missing the point of the show cuz you're blocking out one of the best characters who's in pretty much every episode of the whole damn show!!!!"

But I was getting so mad that I just blocked him instead. I didn't wanna hear anymore of his wrong opinions. Though I did say before I blocked him "wow...just when I thought your opinion couldn't get any worse...you had to say THAT". Uuuggghhh I was furious! I honestly still am!

Nobody...and I mean NOBODY...talks about my boy, Wrecker, like that!!!!! He is a wonderful, sweet, funny and complex character that has more emotional maturity in his pinky finger than that guy could ever hope to have! He's incredibly kind, intelligent and is in tune with his emotions. He might not know a lot about technology or things like that, but he knows how to disassemble an explosive and makes a pretty good tank! He cares so much about his family and can bring a smile to anyone's face!

Ugh sorry...I got so mad seeing that comment from someone who clearly has no understanding of Wrecker's character and ZERO understanding of The Bad Batch in general. I'm so sick and tired of many people saying it has a bunch of "filler" episodes, which is 100% false! The show would do so much better if more of the freaking SW fandom had better media literacy, but clearly, that ship sailed long ago 🙄

I love this show so much and I will defend it to my last breath against anyone who dares to say it's nothing but "filler" or anyone who dares to insult ANY of my boys or my little blonde angel!!!

NO ONE FRIGGIN BLINK

TODAY IS LORE EPISODE DAY AND I SWEAR IF WE DON'T GET A FULL EPISODE FROM RUIN CLIPSY'S POV I'M THROWING OVER A FEW TABLES

I guess this can be considered my prediction for a future "RESCUING RUIN ECLIPSE in VRChat" episode I GUESS???

But basically, imagine an episode from Ruin Eclipse's pov, we get to see new Eclipse friggin torturing them and whatever else. They'd beg for him to stop, insisting that the others would come for them, that they were looking for them.

Eclipse would laugh in their face, not without zoning out at least 3 times during the thing and questioning why the hell he's doing any of this. He'd then leave off to wherever tf he goes.

We'd get a moment of Ruin Eclipse's internal private thoughts, but of course, they'd be guarded because they (hc time) KNOW they are being watched. But I'd imagine with what Eclipse put them through, they would hardly care for what some invisible broadcasting all seeing eye thought of them.

Then, after this, we'd see (still from Ruin Eclipse's pov) Solar and Moon entering the holding cells area. Ruin Eclipse would not let a peep out, unsure, even when they kept on insisting to Eclipse, if they really are getting rescued or aren't just seeing some cruel last hope of freedom made up by their desperate mind.

Solar and Moon would look around, check all the holding cells, because this is the likeliest area of where the alternate bot could be, no? They'd eventually find their way up the stairs, closer and closer towards Ruin Eclipse, who lays defeated on the ground, refusing to so much as move a finger as everything hurts, (hc) again.

Haha uhhh yea that's it, I like theorizing of the script for future episodes, I know I'm probably (more like totally) wrong but it's fun to do so ^^

Explanation for the hc's:

hc: Probably something a lot of people theorize about, Ruin and by extension Ruin Eclipse can see the viewers, or at least the cameras when they're watching. We obviously never get to see any of them OUTSIDE of the camera's view, so... I'd imagine Ruin Eclipse is more careful of what they do when they are being watched.

hc: I hc that while Ruin Eclipse were still broken, they were in constant pain from all the open cracked and shattered holes in their casing, not to mention their gosh darn leg and hands. If they- if they got broken again, got to feel the persistent pain they thought they were rid of by fixing themself up? Gosh, haha wooo angst

If anyone likes this little idea of mine, I'm not opposed to people making their own take of this if they feel like doing so! Pretty please lmk if anyone does (no pressure ofc) I'd love to see it!

The Eighth Sense Eps 3 & 4 Stray Thoughts

Last time, we all lost our minds at the inherent queerness of this show, and how distinct it feels in the world of BL. We met Ji Hyun, a new resident of Seoul from the countryside who recently started school, and Jae Won, a senior returning from military service and son of a wealthy family. Ji Hyun is struggling with city life, and Jae Won is struggling with everyone's expectations of him. These two met and felt instantly drawn to each other, and are now engaged in intricate rituals in the surfing club. We left them on the beach before what felt like a kiss.

Episode 3

Okay so it was a kiss! That was not tentative at all.

Oh, I'm not a fan of pressuring new members to binge drink. Relieved others are pushing back, but still it's gross.

Why is Ji Hyun being brave about the drink? Is it to distract himself from the kiss and abrupt separation? Is it to end the tension of the moment and save the girls? Is he getting drunk enough to be taken care of by Jae Won?

This dude is so annoying every time he gets drunk. Tae Hyung definitely wants to fuck Jae Won, and it's embarrassing.

Ah, of course Jae Won has built up a history of getting drunk and kissing people. He needed to build that mask.

Hey, that was a beautiful shot of the beach.

Not a fan of Ji Hyun potentially going out into the water alone, but it is intriguing that he tried to suit up on his own in maybe the wrong size. He's not comfortable anymore.

Oh, Jae Won. You can't just ignore the boy like this. This is also unfortunately familiar.

I have questions about the person running a bar in Korea that can't understand enough Korean to take orders.

I get Jae Won feeling more comfortable with Yoon Won after all this time because she feels grounded.

Jae Won, you can't smile fondly at his art after ignoring him!

Damn, the freshmen just casually clocking Yoon Won as a lesbian.

There's a lot of drinking in this show.

I don't think the roommate's assessment is totally off. If Jae Won is signalling that he doesn't want to interact with Ji Hyun anymore, it's probably best to just let it go. Does beg whether Ji Hyun knows he's queer.

If Ji Hyun doesn't want this girl to attach to him too much, it would be ideal to introduce her to the definitely straight friend.

I like Joon Pyo.

Oh, I like experiencing the therapy session through the distorted reflection

I love the bar owner. Ji Hyun definitely needs encouragement.

Here Jae Won goes with the meaningful looks again. Not sure how I want to read them having an interaction right after a therapy session.

I liked this episode. I like Ji Hyun taking his angst and confusion in stride. I also like how many people encourage him.

Episode 4

Gosh, seeing these two recognize that there's something special about just being near each other in silence is just...wow.

Wonder what changed for Hae? Is it because it's night time. Don't send me back to my beauty in the dark phase.

I like Jae Won learning how to draw. It's really sweet to see them learning the other's passion. We also get to see Ji Hyun smile and laugh.

"Do you want to eat ramen with me?" *I understood that reference.*

Again the tension between these two when Jae Won adjusts Ji Hyun's bag. These two are delivering.

I love Ji Hyun's briefcase. I hope there isn't a plot point involving it going missing.

I'm obsessed with Ae Ri. She looked at Jae Won and Ji Hyun and was like, "Ah, gays," and immediately covered for Ji Hyun. Then, she goes on to show Ji Hyun how obvious things appear, and to keep his wits about him, before making clear she does not desire him. I hope she gets everything she wants.

Here these dudes go again meddling in Jae Won's affairs with Eun Ji.

If Eun Ji does something cruel to these boys because she saw them bonding in the stacks....

I'm not a therapist, nor have I been in much therapy, but it feels like Jae Won can be honest with his.

Here Eun Ji goes being mean to Ji Hyun.

Oh my goodness. That was a low-key read. "I didn't say you broke it intentionally. But if you broke it, is it that hard to apologize to the person fixing it?" She doesn't know why this girl is bullying Ji Hyun, but she is not going to let it slide.

A pinky brush into hand holding? We stay winning.

"A beer in your dorm room. Aren't we moving too fast?" Sir, you kissed and then avoided him!

I no longer like Joon Pyo. We had everything. A hand on a leg, a secret romantic desire expressed, and a lean in for a kiss. Then he runs in to spoil the moment!

I'm really glad they give us two episodes a week. I'd have been really frustrated to only get episode 3 with Jae Won avoiding him only to end on the subway would have been annoying. Instead we're seeing this support network grow around Ji Hyun and the obvious relationship blossoming between these two. I'm curious to learn about this secret desire Jae Won is afraid to voice.

First impressions after watching season 3

So after being super patient all day yesterday, I finally managed to get back home and binge watch season 3 last night \o/ I'm just gonna put a few of my first thoughts here for now, I'm gonna need to rewatch everything to have more detailed and coherent thoughts 😁 But first of all, I wanna thanks Amber 💜 (@amailboxlemur) for being the best spectator and companion to my live reactions 😂 It was super duper nice to be able to share these with you while I was watching and going through all the emotions 😱 So I liked the season!! It was a lot a lot but I really enjoyed it!! It made me cry, it made me laugh, it made me blush... All the rainbow emotions 💜

Here is my reaction at the end of episode 5, and I think it sums up pretty well my feeling at that moment :p

So a few randoms comments (I will write more about each episode after rewatching them, which I intend to start doing tonight because I neeeeeed to watch it all again):

[It's not spoiler-free so don't read if you haven't watched the season yet!!]

⁂ Simon was incredibly sad this season and it broke my heart. Seeing him cry just made me cry. He was so lost and broken, I really can't wait for the last episode to see him get better (yes I'm an eternally optimist person so I believe he will be happier!!)

⁂ I wasn't expecting the Micke/Sara storyline but I think I liked it! It gave us a new perspective into the Eriksson family dynamic and I felt so so bad for Sara at the end

⁂ I loved to see Simon being truly angry at his sister!! Baby boy is so used to being nice and forgiving, so it was really refreshing to see him actually be mad and stand his ground about it!!

⁂ Wilhelm Wilhelm Wilhelm. My poor boy is a mess! He was so hopeful at the beginning, thinking he could finally have it all, but yeah it was obviously not gonna be smooth sailing. He's such a messy, broken, angry teenager this season and my heart cries for him. He ends up hurting Simon quite a lot but I cannot be truly mad at him. He's a broken boy trying his best :(

⁂ Which leads me to his family: arghhhhhh. So I was hoping that we would get some more info to understand Kristina at least a little bit, but she's just truly awful this season. And the Duke is not better. I hate them for how they behave with Wilhelm. And on a more personal note: I always saw my own mother in Kristina, but this season it's even more flagrant, and gosh does it make me mad for Wilhelm. His lashing out at them at the end of episode 5 was as painful as it was good to see. I've been in his situation. I've yelled like him too many times to count. So I hurt for him. He deserves so much better. Nobody should have these kind of people as parents :(

⁂ The Erik stuff made me so sad!!

⁂ The whole school situation was a bit frustrating at time but it was interesting to see the characters reacting to it all. Felice is a queen and deserves so much better than her "friends". And Vincent can rot in hell 😠

⁂ They're all incredible actors!! And the show is beautiful as usual. I am slightly disappointed with the music (no song captured me as well as the ones in season 1 and 2, but maybe I just need to watch the episodes a few times for that to happen ^^)

⁂ All the cute scenes between Wilhelm and Simon were just the best. Seeing them be silly boyfriends was the best. And yeah, the chemistry is still chemistrying hard between Edvin and Omar :p

I'm gonna stop my list of first reactions there, but I'll continue in more details episode by episode! Overall I think I like this season, though the ending killed me and the week to come is gonna be the longest week ever ^^' I am not really worried about the last episode. I trust the show. I do believe Wilmon will be endgame. And I think not everything will be wrapped up neatly but I do think the ending will be satisfying. So can't wait \o/

Not as formal as any of the ones I say REVIEW for, even Abbott lol

FLOWER'S ALIVE (DEAD) GUYS!! OH MY GOSH WHAT THE HECK :OO y'all that is wild xD

Honestly I'd been hoping for something like that but they really committed o.o

I do think a full commitment would've been cool but I really miss Flower xdd :( and also I feel like there's a lot that could still be done with her character

If it takes more than just next episode to find her though that'd be cool! And even these four episodes without her has been interesting :o!

Anyway PETE'S EX-WIFE IS DEAD!!! CAROL!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE!!

(makes me think of that sound lol. I don't remember what the name is but it's a tiktok sound xD)

That's just absolutely wild lol, I hope she sticks around xD but not for like, too long lol

She seems annoying xD

Also poor Sam and Jay with their friends xdd they didn't deserve that :(

But also it was ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS OH MY GOSH XDDDD

I was just DYING throughout the entirety of this episode lol. Even throughout the cringe of second-hand embarrassment lol. Afterwards my mom even asked me if my show was funny or something like that when she came out here because I had been laughing so much lol. It was really just an amazing episode xD. Also Jay digging up Flower's death site for Sam 🥰🥰 we love a man like him /hj. Half joking because it wasn't just for her xD. Although the "because once my wife fell down the stairs" was so real and accurate 💀 xD.

All the ghosts were living for the chaos this episode and I was living for it xD. I mean, they usually are lol, but they had the especially sneaky drams-loving ones mainly involved lol. That certainly did not help Sam and Jay xD.

Also their poor friends xD. Thinking the entire (okay well like half) the time that they were gonna be murdered 💀. That's what you get for making slightly weird comments guys xD. Jokes in the moment, threats/promises later lol.

Now here's what I'm wondering: if Flower's still a ghost (I was gonna say alive dead again because alive was my go to but I've said that a lot lol), what was the pillar of light? They said one of the basement ghosts didn't disappear, and Crash was there, so: who was it?

Wait- they checked Stephanie right? o.o I remember she was in the preview so I think she was mentioned? But uh oh o.o

Hm! I don't know. Anyway, I might have more to say later, but I need to go eat and this is all I have in my brain right now lol :D.

So, yeah!! It was an absolutely amazing episode, I really liked it :). Halloween in March could've felt a little weird, but it was really fun lol!! Probably helped it not feel to out of town by the fact that Halloween wasn't a big focus (stuff happened and worked because of Halloween, but the focus was the stuff, ig, if that makes sense) lol. Anyway!! Everybody slayed this episode :DD. And just once again OH MY GOSH FLOWER AND CAROL ARE GHOSTS!! Flower still, because SHE'S ALIVE (DEAD)!! Still shocked over that lol. The well makes total sense though, poor girl xd. Love her <3 🥰. Also she sounded so scared down there 😭🥺. Poor girlie <33. But, yeah, I loooved this episode :D. It was so good!!

Boozle's 2023 Top Ten Dramas

I've been really enjoying reading everyone's top lists of the year, and I've actually been thinking about my own for a few weeks now, because I knew how hard it would be for me to put my lists together! Basically, in terms of Asian drama series, I watched a lot this year. According to my MDL, I have completed 99 dramas for the whole year. (Disclaimer: not all of these were BL, and a handful were short films. Regardless, I still think that's a ridiculous amount and I understand why people think I have no life x_x) So, I think you all can understand why these lists are going to be a little difficult for me!

Note: Everything I say here is my own personal thoughts and opinions. I'm not trying to attack anyone for liking something I don't, or disliking something I loved. We're all pals here, okay? <3

Top Ten Dramas (Note: not all dramas were released in 2023.)

(i) He's Coming to Me (2019) After watching Something in my Room last year, I swore to never watch another 'ghost boyfriend' series because gosh, even if ghosts are my favourite spooky thing, my heart cannot handle the pain of a sad ending. However, Ohm and Singto sucked me in, and this was just lovely and even gave me a happier ending than I'd expected. I'm a little sad that I was so late to this series, but it has definitely found it's place in my heart.

(ii) My School President (2022/23) I still can't believe that I originally thought this was gonna suck and only started it because I wanted to see what everyone was fussing over. I became so invested in these lads and gosh, I fell in love with the cast (minus Prom, who still irks me). Fourth, Gemini and Mark were absolute standouts in this, and I honestly cannot wait for My Love Mix-Up! because they will be fantastic.

(iii) Moonlight Chicken (2023) This is a surprise to no one, because it seems like it's on everyone's favourites list. Again, though, this was a surprising hit for me; I originally only planned on watching for First and Khaotung because I didn't really know Earth and Mix very well (I only started watching BL at the tail end of 2022, so I feel like I was still a little bit of a newbie at the time) and I just fell in love with EarthMix. They have chemistry that is just so mesmerising and belongs to them. The writing of this series was also just perfect, and the cast was wonderful. It deserves all the accolades it's been getting, and I honestly think this will always be a favourite of mine.

(iv) Choco Milk Shake (2022) In all honesty, I expected this to be weird because it's literally about a guy's pets coming back as humans and his dog falls in love with him and his cat falls in love with his uncle. It sounds like it should be creepy, but it really isn't. I sobbed like an absolute baby during this, and whilst I found the ending a little confusing, I loved it. I really hope we get that rumoured second season.

(v) The Gifted (2018) & The Gifted: Graduation (2020) Okay, I'm including both seasons of The Gifted because I loved them both for their own reasons. However, one of the main things I loved about this series was that it made me appreciate actors I'd never cared much for before. I didn't get all the fuss about Gun Attaphan until I watched this (and yes, I'd already seen Not Me), but I thought he was spectacular in this. Chimon and Nanon were fantastic, and I really loved Mek and Victor, even if they weren't as porminent and I'd have liked.

(vi) A Boss and Babe (2023) Ah, my first experience of ForceBook. I would die for these men. This was a bloody brilliant series, and if you want my honest opinion, it really showed how fantastic Book is at acting, because Cher is nothing like any other character he has portrayed. I loved the backstories and the little nuances, and the supporting cast was fantastic, too. This series deserves more credit and respect (but can we pretend the Our Skyy 2 episodes never happened? Because they were so weird.)

(vii) Beyond Evil (2021) This is probably the best Kdrama I watched all year. It had everything I need - murder, mystery, tortured men with tragic backstories, plus twists and turns in every damn episodes. The acting and writing was superb and I'm honestly depressed there isn't going to be a season 2 (as far as I know?).

(viii) Only Friends (2023) Okay, I know we all have our complaints about things that went wrong with OF, but you know what? I still loved it. Yes, I still think the creators made mistakes with allowing fan opinions to influence the editing and I'm bitted about the treatment of Boston in the end, but I loved these characters and their stories. The cast put their heart and soul into their performances (especially Khaotung and Force) and I really hope we get to see them in future series' together again, as they all work so well together.

(ix) I Feel You Linger in the Air (2023) This was another series I didn't expect to enjoy as much as I did, yet I was there with the rest of you, bawling my eyes out when it ended. Despite the fact my dream career is a historian, I often don't enjoy historical dramas, so I put this off for the first few weeks of it airing until all the gif sets finally forced me to check it out. The cast was fantastic, and the writing was brilliant. I will be broken hearted if they don't get a second season, because they deserve it.

(x) I told Sunset About You (2020) & I Promised You the Moon (2021) I'm including both series as one since technically it's just season 1 and season 2. I loved these shows. They were the most realistic portrayals of young teenage queer love that I have seen in so long. I know a lot of people get angry with Teh in IPYTM but by gosh, my heart just hurt for that confused boy; Billkin's crying is so tragically realistic and as much as I too hated that he was hurting Oh-Aew, I also could understand the confusing feelings that come with growing up. Oh-Aew was just...perfect. PP Krit really just cut my chest open, crawled inside and made a little home for himself with this performance. My only issue is that these two haven't been in anything else together since, and I really hope 2024 fixes that, because as much as I support their music careers, I need them on my screen again.

Episode 38: Happy Endings

I'm gonna be doing chores while I listen to these three episodes, so sorry if the notes get a bit brief.

This Hilbert and Doug morality debate is funny because it's literally one actor debating with himself.

I'm sad Hera can't be a part of the group.

"2am"? How is it 2am? You're...you're not on earth. I understand keeping up with a schedule, but it's still a little weird, what time zone are they following?

The way Hilbert talks about Sam... it's like he has this shred of humanity left inside him that he's just gotten used to ignoring.

And Hilbert, I have a clear answer to your little "trolley problem": the decima virus is CUTTER'S property. He put that in your contract, or have you forgotten? Do you seriously think that man will be using it for the good of humanity? Because I don't.

I also feel like the "No one gets a happy ending/ there are no happy endings" think is foreshadowing. But I hope I am wrong.

Recorded message? Oh gosh not the slow claps…Cutter no doubt. Of course he does a dramatic dark room, and the lights go up on an evil chair...he was one of those kids in school who at recess would find insects and torture them for fun, wasn't he?

Easter egg? Cutter, this is the worst easter themed scavenger hunt I've ever heard of. Where are the chocolate bunnies? The jellybeans? The message of hope, love, and rebirth? But I suppose I should expect nothing else from the man who ordered the killing of three people on Christmas. Makes you wonder what Cutter has against holidays. Did mommy and daddy not give someone enough presents?

“The other crew has... gone away like last time” Cutter you suck. Seriously his villain mode does not have an off switch.

What does Cutter want with his brain? An old friend made this for him?? Is it the dude he killed or is it the Pryce person he wrote the book with? Ugh this is awful because I can't tell if Hera's compliance with Maxwell is programmed or not! It's so scary that her free will can just be...programmed out.

I'm very worried about Hera. Is Kepler going to shut her down?

Good on you Hera. She deserves to know the truth.

Maybe I'm misremembering this, but was it Maxwell or Lovelace who said "if only Hera knew the truth" a few episodes back? I'm really suspicious about how Cutter and co. treat the AIs and what they want with them.

The way he says "I was fine...the driver's always fine..." yikes. He made her deaf? He hasn't seen her since? How old was she?

Hera needs to be okay. And I'm sorry if they have the tech for sentient AI, decima viruses, space travel, and who knows what else, that weird brain transmitting machine, then deafness should be totally curable by now, Cutter's just hogging the tech to himself like a psychopath. I hate him. I hate him so much. Cutter is the worst. I hope HE loses his senses. Almost all his senses. Except for pain. That's the only one he deserves to keep.

I hope Maxwell can save Hera. She has to! Hera can't die now. We already went through that, and she deserves to be happy.

But I do get the feeling that might not happen. For anyone.

You know, as I go back and edit this, I gotta say, in some ways Kepler is like an evil version of Doug. They both clearly like alcohol and substances (Kepler's "I like the feel of it in my hand" and Doug's "I just want to hold the cigarette"), but Doug wants to get better while Kepler clearly doesn't. "You're like this Whiskey see? I'd be sad without it but I'd be okay." And then he risks the life of his crew for it. You sure you don't have a bit of problem Whiskey boy? 👀

Episode 97 and 98 Summaries (plus a title for episode 99) Dropped

And for both of them I can officially say that the "the protagonists haven't duelled yet!" criticism does not apply anymore. Both of these are the protagonist duels we've been waiting for. Are they going to be good protagonist duels? Well, let's take a look.

97 is... confusing and a little concerning but certainly interesting:

Seems we were right about Dinois and Myuda being next to disappear. Why exactly they're trying to stop the others from saving the Velgearians when they ARE Velgearians is a complete mystery that I personally will not judge until the subtitled episodes are released. But, yes, from this description, it sounds like they are being completely unreasonable. Still, a tag duel is still a rare thing in Rush Era and I do like to see them. Cautiously optimistic for this one overall.

Also, Myuda hasn't duelled or done much of anything since season 1 so it's definitely a good thing they're letting him do something, especially if these Velgearian deaths do end up being permanent... I sort of hope not but the next episode's summary, at least the way I interpreted it, does sort of support that idea...

So uh...

Yup. I was... very much right about Zwijo dying this arc. Either temporarily or permanently, I really can't tell yet... I know I said a while back that if they kill someone like Zwijo, then I'll know for sure that these deaths are temporary but... that was before I considered the idea that Yudias might go into season 3 as the last Velgearian. That is... legitimately a direction they could take so until at the very least this arc ends, I'm not going to make any certain statement about whether these deaths are permanent or not...

Gosh, this arc is depressing and this episode's summary especially... just... damn... it does sound like exactly what I've been anticipating they would do with Zwijo for a while now... To me, it sounds like he's pulling a Ryo Marufuji and knows he will die but just wants to spend his final moments fighting and living life to the fullest. That's what I'm assuming they mean by "uncontrollable urge" but we'll see. It could also be Zwijo wanting to communicate something to Yudias through a duel or perhaps wanting to join Dinois and Myuda in whatever afterlife the Velgearians are going to... if any...

And my only takeaway from episode 99's title...

...is the confirmation that Yudias is already the last Velgearian left (9 episodes into the arc) and that as a result, I'm even more concerned that he may remain the final Velgearian.

Since the year is ending, I'd like to talk about my top 5 favorite shows of this year. There's a lot of really good show releases this year, but these are the ones that I personally loved. [Alt text are available in the images]

5. Interview with the Vampire

This is such a good adaptation. The writing, production, and casting is phenomenal. Also, I'd like to say props to them for acknowledging the issues Louis would have experienced during that time period. It brought so much depth to the character. I also love how Claudia came into the picture. That was a change that I personally loved more than the book version. The performance of Bailey Bass as Claudia made it even better. I think her episode was my favorite. It really showed how disturbing and tragic her situation was. I'd also like to appreciate Sam Reid and Jacob Anderson's electrifying chemistry together. Both of them made Louis and Lestat's story more interesting for me.

Lastly, I am beyond happy that they made this show so gay. Like they fully embraced it, without shame. I love this show for it.

4.1899

As a long time Dark fan, I was so excited for this show. Although I admit, I wanted more from it. Still I enjoyed watching this season and I truly believe that things would get even better once we get to the next season (if there is one 👀).

What I loved the most from this is the fact that the characters are speaking in different languages and are from different countries. Like they really spoke their native languages instead of making them just speak in english with foreign accents. Because of that we got to see the characters navigate their way through the language barriers and build meaningful connections.

Now I'd like to talk about what distracted me the most... Eyk and Maura's chemistry. There's just something about them that I really really dig (Angst? Longing? Them being so touchy together? All of the above?). Although, I'd like to say I still like Daniel. I feel like the whole story behind him would be heart breaking.

3.The Sandman

This was my most anticipated show for August, it was like an early birthday present for me. I truly enjoyed this show, especially Tom Sturridge's performance as poor little meow meow, baby girl, blorbo Morpheous. The way he made his eyes teary-eyed all the time is such a perfect acting choice. Kirby Howell-Baptiste also delivered as the lovely Death. She really made the character as loving and caring as possible. Watching her sibling dynamic with Sturridge as Dream is all I've ever wished for. Mason Alexander Park of course brought Desire truly come to life in this adaptation. I hope we get to see more of their performance next season.

My favorite episode would probably be episode 4 to 6. Those three episodes are a package deal considering the themes that they handled. Also, I'd like to acknowledge the wonderful surprise episode 11. I am totally in love with how they gracefully and respectfully they handled Calliope's story. They gave her agency and respected her as an actual character. I also loved the short interactions she had with Morpheus, especially the "you came" ...."you called" scene, that was so jdkfjeifjbcisibsjsjk ( I can't describe what I felt but I was a mess when that scene came up).

2.Severance

Wow, this show was a last minute watch for me and it was so good it made my top 5. This show had such a good mix of mystery, sci-fi, tension, drama, and a little bit of comedy. I also did not expect to love the characters of this show. Each of the characters had something equally interesting going on, it wasn't just the protagonist who had something to do. Honestly, I'm surprised with how well they fleshed out the characters, even though they're still in season 1.

What really cemented this show in my top 5 is its finale. My gosh, it was so thrilling and suspenseful. I also think that this show's finale is an example of a cliff hanger done right. They answered some questions, left out some unanswered ones, and ended the finale with a bang (not an action packed scene, but enough to make you stand up the couch and scream "NO! that's it!?).

I think this show has a potential to be one of the best sci-fi tv series of all time if they do it right until the end.

1.Andor

This year I thought my top favorite show would be The Sandman, but Andor came in and landed right at the top. I'm not even a Star Wars fan, just a casual viewer, but this show was excellent in a lot of ways. This show at its core, is a well-done spy thriller set in space. It's got 12 episodes with 4 different arcs that truly delivered. This show also managed to tackle social and political issues of today, with such care.

This show also had incredible production, writing, direction, set design, vfx, editing , and the soundtrack is *chef's kiss*. It is such a high quality show. I hope they get a lot of praise and awards because this show really deserves it. Also, this show is so quotable. I can't even pick a favorite because they're just so many.

Lastly, I'd like to talk about Cassian's development here because the finale came full circle. Episode 1 Cassian and Episode 12 Cassian had such a stark difference. I cannot wait where his arc is going in the next season. I hope we get to see something about his sister, because I want something happy for him at least.

Reflections and mirrors in ep 10

Not quite as many as last ep, but still something to be digging our teeth into!

Starting with this reflection shot of Kim in the breakfast table. We've only had one reflection shot of Kim before this, right when he was introduced back in ep 3, and that was a silhouetted reflection in a glass doorway. We haven't had a full mirror reflection at all, and similarly here is not a super clear reflection either--and most notably, we don't see any of his face reflected. Kim is hiding the entire truth about who he is from Chay. I think the fact that we get a reflection here could be an indication that this dual self/identity issue is lurking closer to the surface--it's not something he can ignore anymore when he's around Chay, as he has been trying to do. (This is also reinforced by him looking at his family ring after Chay leaves to make him breakfast--he's caught in this lie which started out as a basic ploy to use Chay and drop him, and is now a lot more complicated as his own feelings are getting involved.) He's going to have to reveal this dual identity soon, and it's going to be painful when he does.

OOOOH YOU SEXY VEGAS MIRROR SHOT. Gosh I LOVE this one so much. The off-centre framing, the effect we get from having the frame behind him, the way his arm and top of his head are cut off by the angle--@luckydragon10 said in her lines of power post that even here he's not showing the full picture of himself, only pieces, and it's so true. This is such a clear and strong mirror shot with the framing, size of mirror and eye contact--possibly one of the strongest we've had so far, and it is very much telling us that Vegas is not showing his real self to anyone.

Especially not to Tawan, who comes and joins him in the reflection and wraps his arms around him from behind; he may see him in the mirror but he is only seeing the person Vegas wants him to see, who has manipulated him into believing that he loves him and wants to be with him. Tawan doesn't really make eye contact with him until Vegas says the line "more importantly, papa will accept us": he's offering him this promise of hope, of freedom and acceptance, as the main bait of his manipulation.

Another final cap from this screen is this one of Vegas after having put the ring on Tawan's finger; now he's reflected alone again, clearly lying, and check out that green light across his back. Oh Tawan, if only you'd sat around thinking about the implications of mirrors and reflections in the universe you live in all week, you'd know not to believe a word that comes out of his mouth.

(Tawan's "I love you" in return is very much not in the mirror: he really does love Vegas.)

A half-reflection of Kinn here in the pool, only his torso--a parallel to the first time we get this shot in episode 4. In that instance he was concealing the fact that he was Feeling Things about having kissed Porsche, now he is frustrated with him about having run off before Kinn could tell him his plan: both times have been the cause of something unresolved with Porsche.

The entirety of this scene is not reflected right up until the final shot of them kissing--and it is a super blurry/small reflection. They have got closer to resolving the communication issues between them (I hesitate to say trust even though Kinn's trust issues do affect everything he does; I think in this situation particularly the issue was that Kinn hadn't communicated his plan to Porsche), through talking and then using some of their top-tier non-verbal communication aka kissing, but they're still not 100% in the clear yet.

I don’t know how many season there will be of The Bad Batch, but I also predict—like many others—the series finale whenever it comes will include the reason why Rex quits fighting, which will be the deaths of the Bad Batch

Review of va’s first 4 episodes

I watched the first four episodes of Vampire academy, and I can tell I’m going to have a love/hate relationship with it. Be warned: I’m a book purist. I’m going to rip on some stuff hard.

Love:

The main four actors. Everyone here has really captured the personification of their respective characters. Sisi is perfectly playing an outgoing, reckless, headstrong Rose. Daniela IS Lissa to a tee; sweet, a little naïve, and very loyal. Andre is a terrific Christian and does a good job of portraying a slightly annoyed outcast. I’m hoping we see more of his mischievous side. then there’s Keiron. I LOVE his Dimitri. He captures Dimitri’s stern, no-nonsense side superbly, as well as seeing his playful side. It’s rare in the books, but still there.

The relationships. First of all, Christian and Lissa are really cute. The chemistry is there, for sure. That’s all I’m going to say on that, because I don’t actively ship them that hard, not even reading the books. Now, to the important stuff: Romitri. OH MY GOSH. What has been portrayed so far with their relationship is exactly the dynamic I’d been missing from the movie. They don’t exactly get off on the right foot, and isn’t warm right away. He thinks she’s reckless, and he to her is just another strict disciplinarian and a killjoy. It felt like that too in the first episode (it didn’t feel like there were a bunch of sparks; felt off a little). When we get to the second episode, the chemistry becomes more apparent, and we then begin to see Dimitri appearing troubled over Rose, which I LOVE. We also have Rose softening toward him, seeing him more as a person, respecting his position, and gaining that initial attraction. By the time of their last interaction in episode 4, the “Rosa” feels earned (though I think it’s a bit early to hear it). Everything on that front is what I’ve been hoping for. However, I’d really like to see them verbally get into it, because that’s who they both are: passionate, stubborn people.

Don’t love:

Umm, everything else...? Where do I begin?

Character changes/mash-ups: Oof. First of all, The Moroi ruler. Yeah, not a fan. She’s so aloof, and I’m not impressed with her acting. Why can’t we just have a 30 something Tatiana if they wanted a younger ruler at the start? Speaking of, why in the world did they change her family name? What is the purpose? I can’t think of one. Next are Mia and Sonya. Sigh. Yeah. Okay. Big issues here. The personification of Mia is spot on, but at the same time, the actress sounds tired and flat, like she’s slurring her words. Sonya, now...not feeling her. The fact that we’re seeing what Lissa was going through in the first book with Sonya is just wrong. That is what Lissa’s storyline focus should be right now. Her plot of doing the research right away, a book 2-3 thing, just feels weird and wrong. Whatever it is, I just can’t get invested into it or her relationship with Mikhail. Oh, that love scene in the greenhouse, with reviving the bird? Not cheesy, but a special kind of cringe.

Plots and Pacing. This is a big issue for me. Too many things going on in this season for its own good. I can see plots from 5 out of 6 books so far. There’s the whole battle for the crown, the guardian age restriction, a big massacre at a different location, Rose’s conflict with her mother, the novices going through trials...those are the major things I’ve noticed. It is making time go incredibly fast in-universe. I get that the first book wasn’t totally exciting and action-packed, but come on. I am concerned that if this gets more seasons, they’re going to write themselves into a corner, and there are 6 flipping books to draw from. It should be one book per season. it shouldn’t be a GOT situation.

The location. I’m not too disappointed about everything taking place in Europe, but it appears that Court is in the same vicinity of the school. It makes it a little less special and exclusive on both ends, if that makes sense.

CGI. Uh, where did this show’s budget go? Filming in Spain? Well, it was most likely the magic. But still, the psyhounds? Pathetic. I get that this isn’t exactly HBO or Prime, but even WB/CW shows in the 2000s had better CGi animals than this.

Lesser issues

People will probably call me out for this, but they’re rushing Romitri’s romantic relationship, specifically with the Shadow Kiss fight scene, and the nickname, which I would have liked more in episode 7 or 8. Don’t get me wrong, both scenes were HOT, but one thing I have always loved is the slow burn of the first book. Rose besting Dimitri, and its effect on both of them, comes at a point where they know what they feel for one another. Discreetly, they don’t bother hiding it. It’s only been like, what, a week or two since they’ve met? Maybe more? Oh, then we have the Mason issue. My main problem here is him noticing the attraction. It’s so trivial. NOBODY, except for Victor and Adrian (because of who they are), knew about them.

Dimitri’s accent. This one I could probably live with, because in the book it describes his Russian accent as “faint”. Hopefully Keiron slips it in from time to time like he did in episode four.

Lissa’s compulsion. Her ability should not be able to be seen. It’s not how compulsion works. Plus, the effect looks dumb. It would be better for it to be the eyes glowing or something. Oh, also, Lissa is as royal as it gets in the Moroi world. She should be called princess no matter what.

Rose��s sixth sense. There has been no indication that Rose has been pulling darkness from Lissa, nor has she killed a Strigoi,

Strigois may not have souls, but they’re not mindless creatures. They’re just narcissists with no inhibitions, and very, very hangry. What we see in Frostbite and Blood Promise are very smart and calculated creatures.

So, yeah, I have a crap ton of problems with this show, and one might wonder why I’m bothering to watch. But darn it if I’m not already invested in this version of Romitri. The movie didn’t provide a whole lot of romitri footage for me, and now we have this. I’ll take it in any form I get. Like I’ve said above, the personalities and dynamic between Sisi and Keiron have already met my expectations and I hope it continues.

That sounded like a wonderful Wednesday. I was eagerly waiting for the new episodes to drop so I enjoyed them nice and fresh too.

Yess, finally the old boss is gone. It was a nice wrap up, too. I didn't expect such ending. But the ex-gf is not gone and I don't like smell coming from Sun Woo & Min Young. Just... let's not make it happen. Matching every possible single character with another one is common in books, too, and I'm bored.

Ohhh~ same here! My heart clenched seeing confused and upset Dongjin (and when he argued and avoided Woo Joo afterwards). He just acknowledged his crush for her and attempted to get closer (like texting SHALL WE MEET + calling to say WAIT LET'S LEAVE WORK TOGETHER) only to be avoided and treated harshly. (When she said she was sick of hearing Jigu's things, Dong Jin's heart wasn't the only one that got broken🥲) I'm glad he called her out for her confusing attitude.

Woo Joo's confusion wasn't annoying last week since everything was new and overwhelming to her. But this week I was like... girl? She said she's not crossing the line to Jun but kept keeping him (DJ) company. I enjoyed those moments but it felt like she was dropping her attitude too easily. At least, from now on she won't begin treating him coldly again because I assume it's time for secrets to come on the surface since Woo Joo's mom arrived Seoul. (gosh that preview was exciting!) She is not confused anymore but in pain. 🥲 Let's see how things will be figured out.

Haesung's pills... lol I was so dumb while watching that scene. I was like "oh, so it's her first time dumping someone" then she started saying that it's hard for her to be in crowded places...💀💀 That scene was nice. Opening up about your problems for the first time... the actress delivered it so well!

That smiling issue was so good, too! Pretending to smile for other's sake... She is not only told to stop that but also encouraged to do so!!

Hey you seem to have a similar opinion to me about Soldier Boy

Like there’s been a lot of buildup for him to be a bad guy, but until now nothing’s happened. He’s at most being a prejudiced grandpa, but is that even on him personally? A guy in the 80’s telling a woman to smile is to be expected lol

Generally he hasn’t shown much personality, right? I hope something big happens in the remaining episodes to come

(Also the parallel to Homelander and Maeve is a bit off. SB comes off more sympathetic because he apparently did love the Countess, while Homelander has never loved anything, I think)

"There's been a lot of buildup but until now nothing's happened" is basically how I would describe season 3. Which is a real drag, because we've only got 3 episodes left for any kind of happening to happen.

This season really has been an odd one. To borrow from a previous conversation I had, I feel like there's a lot of Big Setpieces happening so Kripke and the PR team can go "see? see? look, a penis blew up! ha ha we had a musical scene! did you see Jensen's butt? he has a butt!!!!" Meanwhile, the actual plot and characterization and story have only moved, like. Four inches. It's a really good echo of the in-universe Vought marketing & content machine. A lot of viral moments but very little actual superheroing going on.

Genuinely, I don't get it from a writing perspective. Or -- rather, I do, but I'm disappointed by what it means. All this pressure to make the next big wacky Boys Moment and what you end up with is teehee exploded head/teehee penis/teehee Kardashian satire, barely strung together with dialogue. Oh, and a lot of the fuck word thrown in, for good measure. It's just thin, thin, thin.

But, who knows. I tend not to think that you should judge a tv season too harshly until it's over, because until the ending you haven't actually seen the structure as a whole. It's part of how SPN's s8 ended up working so amazingly well -- 'Sacrifice' blasted meaning backward through a bunch of moments and choices and, man, chef's kiss. So, it's possible that the last episodes of Boys s3 will tie a bow on the thing. It's... possible.

As it stands, though, I'm pretty unimpressed by Kripke's creativity, haha. God, get that man some restriction and a low budget so that he might think his way to some more interesting solutions. And keep him away from a way too long musical scene that did nothing for the plot, god. (Or that Paul Reiser scene? WHY?)

Re: SB specifically -- yeah, I don't know. For all the press and buildup and the four full episodes of 'oh gosh, Soldier Boy! What a big deal!' he's had, what. Three minutes of screentime? I can't comment on the bad guy stuff or the love stuff because we still haven't actually seen him. Maybe at some point during the much-hyped setpiece fuck-episode this Friday we'll get some real characterization -- it's just as likely we'll get a lot of penis shots and then someone's asshole will explode or something so Hughie will say WHAT THE FUCK and we'll be no closer to fighting Homelander. Shrug. Hopefully they release some deleted scenes with characterization, at some point.
