Raymond says he learned a lot from Patrick Kane this year. Says obviously we could all see what he did on the ice, but “his presence off the ice was big for the team.”

Let me make it simple for you and rid you of the Accident Fallacy you and others keep applying to me. Did I personally assume they were a Zionist because they’re a jew? No. Did I state they’re a Zionist with evidence of their past posts supporting the existence of Israel? Yes.
Now get out of my mentions

You’re grasping at straws it’s kind of pathetic, like did you even read my response. “I came across their posts” this is not the first time they were brought to my tl by a person I (now used to) follow, defending Israel’s existence. I only know of them from that. I went on a search to confirm what I saw before, that they were in fact made by them, before I made my statement. And once more to provide you any evidence because of what you claimed

Read my words again, I am not familiar with this person, I do not follow them, but first came across enough posts of them defending the existence of Israel, like my example where they are defending Israel’s existence which is based on the occupation of Palestinian land by comparing it to Pakistan-India partition. Pakistanis are indigenous to the land, only the territory was split. While majority Israelis, regardless of religion, are European settlers.
“Zionism, a colonial movement, is a nationalist, political ideology that called for the creation of a Jewish state, and now supports the continued existence of Israel as such a state. Zionists argued that Israel would provide a safe national home for Jews, allowing any Jewish person from anywhere in the world to immigrate there and claim citizenship. Critics, however, argue that Zionism has functioned like colonialism, pointing to the violent ethnic cleansing of the indigenous Palestinian population and the building of illegal settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territories as evidence.”

“It shields jews from worse violence” yes at the expense of the people whose land is being occupied. By defending the existence of Israel, they were labelled a Zionist by me, not because they are a jew. Please share your definition of a Zionist.
And I just went right now to confirm through a deeper search, they themselves clarified I am no longer a zionist, which suggests they once were which is what I saw.

Like I said, if they have changed their views, good on them. How would I know that when I don’t follow them. I could have easily been corrected by being informed otherwise but you all straight up assumed I accused them of being a Zionist because they are a jew. You’re making assumptions about me from your previous experiences.
And this is my view of Israel:
Tumblr media
I feel like. Part of the reason we're seeing hot takes like "video games like Stardew Valley are bourgeoisie and you should feel bad for playing them" and "if any actor in a TV show even hints at supporting any part of Israel then we need to boycott that entire show" and stuff like that is.
Online activism does virtually nothing. It does virtually nothing, guys. You can reblog and repost stuff all day and it does nothing. And so there's this desperate need in people's minds to Do Something, but social media platforms have so thoroughly trapped us into the idea that This Is How You Connect With People, that we think blogging = activism.
But nothing we've reblogged thus far has made a significant difference in the world. So we keep reblogging, desperately, convinced that if we root out the real evil in our media consumption or if we pare down our beliefs to the One True Ideal and force everyone around us to share that ideal, then finally Something Will Change For The Better.
Log off. Go give blood; there's a critical shortage right now. Help someone in your community; it might not fix wars that are thousands of miles away but it'll help that person. Call or email your local representative about issues that matter to you. Fucking vote. Do something in the not-online space. It'll matter more than 100 posts in a row about Important Things.

By Antony Loewenstein, author of The Palestine Laboratory (2023)
[...] The problem in Israel isn’t solely Netanyahu. He’s the symptom of a major larger societal shift. Replacing him with another carbon copy will change little for the millions of Palestinians who live under a brutal military occupation. One possible successor, Benny Gantz, has spent his career proudly promoting the destruction he’s caused in Gaza in previous wars. [...] Back in 2019, I wrote for the Jewish Forward outlet in the US that anti-Palestinian racism was ubiquitous in Israel, undeniably exploding since 7 October, and Netanyahu had simply been a reflection of contemporary Israel.   A 2016 poll found that close to half of Jewish citizens wouldn’t live in the same apartment blocks as Arabs. Fast forward to early 2024 and 68 percent of Israeli Jews opposed facilitating humanitarian aid to Gaza, according to an Israeli Democracy Institute study. This is at a time when Palestinians in Gaza are starving to death due to Israel’s deliberate policy of withholding lifesaving aid into the besieged territory. As far back as a 2012 poll, a majority of Israeli Jews opposed voting rights for Arabs if the Jewish state annexed the West Bank, and one-third of Israelis wanted Arabs in Israel to be denied the right to vote. In other words, apartheid was the Israeli vision for Palestine.
