To ME, The Iliad and The Odyssey are about the different reactions to trauma and "hate".
The Iliad is about how a man gets destroyed by hatred. Achilles is "destroyed" metaphorically because his hatred and grief caused him to lose his "humanity". Hector is killed by a man filled with so much hatred (Achilles). Both men are "gone".
The Odyssey, being what happens directly after, is about how a man can come BACK from such hatred. Menelaus and Nestor, while still in pain from the war (the time, friends, and family they lost), are still able to move forward and live normal lives. We watch this happen in real time through Odysseus.
Odysseus' name means to hate and be hated, something he's been probably doing since he left Ithaca to a degree. You could even see the slaughter of the suitors as being the "final fight" he has to go through before the "healing". He gains back his humanity, kingdom, and identity by loving and being loved. (Niko's post about Odysseus and his identity. It delves further into all that well!)
Some people are lost to war and some people CAN come back from it. While the ancients (of every culture as well!) didn't have the semi-universal term PTSD yet, they knew damn well people who have experienced trauma tend to be "different" afterward and had their own stories and even some "remedies"
Other ancient works, such as those by Hippocrates, describe soldiers who experienced frightening battle dreams. (Source, whole article gives more info on ancient PTSD too!)
Celsus, a Roman doctor described a condition named Insania sine fibre.
In Ancient Mesopotamia, “They described hearing and seeing ghosts talking to them, who would be the ghosts of people they’d killed in battle – and that’s exactly the experience of modern-day soldiers who’ve been involved in close hand-to-hand combat.” (Source)
This is my own interpretation, but in a way, I think the Epic Cycle is...showcasing that. The Iliad shows how trauma can "end" a person. And The Odyssey is kind of a way to give some hope to folks in a "Hey, you CAN get better. You CAN have your life back."

I have seen you talking about Dick & Dami's relationship and Dick & Tim as well, but what are your takes on Dick and Jason actually?
Like how you wish their relationship should be portrayed today and where are them missing when it comes to making those two acting like siblings?
Do you think in the past their dynamic was better?
How Dick views Jason and how Jason views Dick?
This is difficult to answer because there are like 8 different stages to Dick and Jason's relationship with various dynamics. They also view each other a bit differently depending on which stage we're talking about.
The way I would like their relationship to be portrayed today isn’t necessarily possible thanks to Jason’s integration into the family and acceptance of the no killing moral code. For me, their ideal dynamic is portrayed in Outsiders #44-46. And I know people are gonna find that regressive as hell but, tbh, that dynamic is far more interesting than the kinda awkward thing they have going on now.
Although, I don't mind that they acknowledge their brotherhood in a serious manner now. Like before they'd kinda be like, "Eh... I mean... we were adopted from the same guy but... brothers? Eh..." And now they're more firmly in the, "We're brothers," camp. So that development is interesting.
Character progression wise, it wouldn't feel right for for them to be super close in the way that, say, Dick and Tim are (unless we saw a lot of trust and relationship building between them), but at the same time, there is part of me that kind of wants them to have that older sibling bond (except Jason is closer in age to Tim than he is to Dick sooo actually let's just leave older sibling things to Dick and Cass... not that Cass is much older than Jason though so LOL this is why Dick has to lone the oldest sibling thing by himself... which is funny because Dick is technically no longer the oldest sibling, he's a baby brother now... except Dick and Melinda's relationship really hasn't progressed much sooo you could say they share blood but don't consider each other family yet, in which case, Dick is still the oldest... I mean, regardless, Dick is the oldest sibling of the Waynes... god why did they have to make all of this so difficult 😫).

this isn’t even about my evil agenda anymore I actually just need to hear your dissertation on voltron/klance x first love late spring
you do evil things to my dick and balls. i hope you know that.
first love / late spring is a very keith-core song, but i think it also applies to both keith and lance... but more specifically, FL/LS is keith pre-relationship, and then FL/LS is lance once they have already started dating.
i'm obsessed with that one interview of mitski where she explained that she wrote this song while she was experiencing her vulnerable first love... and first love is vulnerable. you simultaneously reap the rewards of being known but at the same time, you've now let someone else know you, and now you have to trust them to take care of you. and it's so vulnerable. it's more naked than being naked. and it's so difficult as well because now you're learning a brand new way you can be hurt.
so keith, pre-relationship... he's pining for lance and he is MISERABLE. he's lost control! he feels like he's being consumed by the enormity of his feelings. he's eight years old and small and never asked for this, he never wanted to know he could feel this way. he just wants lance to fucking go already. keith wants to spit vitriol and blame and shame and drive lance away so that when lance leaves him (and he will leave him, like everyone else has), then at least it will be on keith's own terms for once. and keith doesn't, he refuses, to say how he feels. he'll spitefully choke on his confession until it suffocates him. he doesn't want to know what lance might say.
but he also is afraid of lance's reaction because... if lance gives him even a sliver of ground, if there's even a promise of a chance -- keith will fold instantly. he will jump into this love headfirst. he'll do anything if it will make lance stay with him.
and then lance, mid-established relationship... things with keith are perfect, everything is going great, so why does lance feel so anxious all the time? why does he feel so scared when keith looks at him like he's his whole world? maybe the problem is lance. because what they have is real. because he's pretty sure keith is it for him. and that terrifies lance. because lance, deep down, knows he's going to screw this up. and it's not just his heart on the line; he's also going to hurt keith.
keith smiles at him and lance feels sick to his stomach. he wants to tell keith that they might be happy right now, but eventually, lance is going to ruin this. he wants to warn keith that lance is going to break his heart one day.
lance isn't always so negative about himself. during the day, it's easy to let himself be buoyed and enveloped by his feelings for keith. he loves being in love with keith. because the love is real. it's real, and it's there, and that matters. but at night, all those poisonous insecurities and anxieties rear their ugly head, and lance finds himself standing on a ledge over a drop. lance daydreams about spending the rest of his life with keith; lance has never felt so young and small.

Why is the scene where Schmendrick lies about what he sees so important?
One thing I love about rewatching - and rereading - The Last Unicorn is the amount of subtle details you can infere without further exposition.
Schmendrick lying about seeing just a white mare is just apparently a simple introduction of his character. The viewer/reader can immediately tell he is on the unicorn’s side and he is trying to protect her, still the real meaning of the scene it’s not clear right away.
Schmendrick lies about what he sees immediately after he has been teased about his capacity as a wizard, both by Mommy Fortuna and Rukh. A first time viewer/reader still knows nothing about Schmendrick, so this does not seem very important. Those who instead know Schmendrick understand how much he yearns for recognition and praise as a true wizard, as he is shown to do on later occasions in the movie/novel (especially). Schmendrick lying is essentially him biting down his ego once again and accepting to not be recognized for what he truly is just for the sake of having a chance to help the unicorn at a later time.
If he had been anyone else, he could have simply told the witch, “Hey, f*ck you! I know perfectly what I am looking at, who do you take me for?!” Instead, Schmendrick chooses to lie, even if that means more scorn and giving in to more insults and mockery from people who already see him as a hack. Nothing would have stopped him from telling what he truly saw, still he willingly lied for the unicorn’s sake (and this is especially true in the novel, where he is much more mean-spirited). It is such a short exchange between him and Mommy Fortuna, still it flawlessly introduces Schmendrick as a character.
This makes the scene where Molly accuses him of not caring about anything but his magic even more tragic - and it is one of the very few times Schmendrick loses his composure in the movie. He cares to the point he accepts to be still treated like a worthless fool, in spite of his desire of being a true magician, contrary to what Molly is accusing him of. Hearing Molly - whom at this point should know the lenghts Schmendrick has gone to protect the unicorn - rubbing it in his face must have been devastating.

when you say "character.ai.." you mean when they use the character to generate fanfic ideas right? or just in general, like even just chatting to the character for fun?
i meant in general. even though character.ai does include the hands-on ability to influence the way the character speaks and acts, the algorithm itself was still trained on stolen data scraped from the internet, the same way that GPT 4 was, though it uses a different model. it had to learn how to speak like a human from somewhere.
and even so, this was only half of my point. my main point is that i believe chatting to characters on character.ai as well as making algorithmically generated fanfics and fanart and the like is ALL contributing to this shift in fandoms that is making it more about "consuming content" than it is about community and making art. people want to find ways to get as much "content" as possible more than they want to actually engage with the source material and talk to other fans about it and make friends.
if we dont engage with art its gonna damage our media literacy and ability to analyze and its gonna reduce artists to basically employees on an assembly line churning out stuff for other people to consume. thats just not the point of fandom
i dont mean to sound pretentious or anything like obviously fandom doesn't need to be that serious but it really does suck as an artist to see people want to engage with these tools made by companies off of stolen art under the guise of "wanting more content." it feels really reductive of the work that i and other artists do

Thoughts on SEES's 1st tier personas? You can keep this short if you want, and don't forget Psyche!
WOOHOO Prince rants about personas round 2 electric boogaloo!
OK this time I'll focus a little more on the actual designs themselves and my thoughts on how they relate to the character + their stories. Read more because well... You know me...
MC/FeMC: So for Orpheus I think its a pretty fitting choice for the protagonists. The protagonists are on a Journey just like Orpheus journey out of the underworld (kinda on the nose lmao) and both of them have strong connections with music! There's probably some connection between the underworld journey and the fact the plot of the game is to stop death but I'm not sure how to word it if you get me. I also like how they really resemble the protagonists face and hair wise! The mechanical detailing is also a neat touch, I've always seen it as the protagonists being very closed off with their emotions (that's kinda of a trend with a lot of the P3 cast I feel, the inital personas are very stiff but then the 2nd tier have more human feel to them).
Junpei: I think Hermes is a really good choice for Junpei. They're both kinda tricksters and Hermes is often portrayed as being carefree (in media at least) which suits Junpei a lot. In terms of design I think its pretty good, I really like the over exaggerated wings on his feet (the iconic winged sandals Hermes usually rocks) and I like his helmet design. My favorite thing about him as I mentioned before though is actually his animations. The way he slides into the enemies reminds me of a baseball player sliding to a base when they're running between bases (Idk baseball that well I hope that makes sense). Very fitting for Junpei considering his choice of career in Arena and also how he uses his sword like a baseball bat!
Yukari: Io is an interesting one for me. I really like her design, I think the girl in the cow head is a very fitting look for Io (who was a woman who got transformed into a cow by Zeus. Io's story is very sad imo (classic Greek woman gets screwed over by Zeus story) but I'll be honest I've never been totally sure why they went with her for Yukari. I think it works don't get me wrong and I like the choice I just don't see why (I, as I'm sure you can tell, am very passionate about Persona designs and I do my best to understand the choices behind the character and design of the persona and how it relates to the user). It just got pointed out to me (shout out to you Rui) that the way the woman is chained to the cow is kinda symbolic of how Yukari is chained to her past and I think that's a really really cool detail!
Akihiko & Shinjiro: I have to combine these two for obvious reasons. Polydueces ugly design aside for a moment, man. This choice for Akihiko is so good because of its connection to Castor. Regardless of how you view Akihiko and Shinjiro's connection, the way they are so connected to each other and how interwoven they are as characters to the point their personas are literally twins?!! Absolutely amazing I don't think we've had as powerful a persona connection since. I really love how their designs reflect each other two, Polydueces with its lighter and more alive design versus Castor and his dark look and the sword that's embedded in his chest? Symbolizing that he's the mortal twin that dies in the legends? And then connect that with his story in the game? Blows my MIND conceptually the best personas in the series actually. I love them.
Fuuka: OK I love Lucia and how she interacts with Fuuka. Having that glass orb as her body and have Fuuka in there navigating for the team is really really cool! I really like the pose of the persona (there is something about it... blanking on why that is relevant to its design). I also love the detail of her eyes being covered as she is the Patron saint of the blind! A cool choice for a navigational persona. Something about her being considered a martyr is fitting for Fuuka too. I also like how different it is to the others (a lot of the others having Greek connections whereas this is a Catholic saint).
Mitsuru: Oh Penthesilea my absolute beloved. I've discussed her in detail before (mind you probably two years ago at this point) but like one of my favorite things about her is the weapons she uses. The sword, particularly a rapier is seen as an honest weapon. A good knight has a sword, a skilled duelist has a rapier. Mitsuru is a very strong and experienced Persona user (and ofc is a fencer herself). She's convinced everyone she's on this noble quest to fix the Kirijo Group's mistakes, which is partially true to be fair. But her other weapon? A dagger. Associated with dishonesty and treachery. I feel like this alludes to her being dishonest with SEES. I adore Mitsuru but even I can admit she was sneaky and kept important details from SEES (she had her reasons but still). And ofc the treachery I feel is less her and more Ikutski betraying her trust and her father's trust. Also her being dishonest about her own motivations! And then ofc the big details: the absence of red in Penthesilia's design and her face being fully covered by the mask! Showing the walls Mitsuru has built up around herself!!! Sorry I just love Penthesilia and will over analyze her a lot.
Koromaru: Honestly I don't have much to say here but that's not a bad thing! Cereberus is really true to the original myths, a three headed dog with a hellish looking design and that's what they've given us. It's a solid design and I love him!
Ken: OK my own thoughts about Nemesis aside, I think its a really well executed design. It's a very unnerving and angry looking design, perfect for the goddess of revenge. And obvs her being a goddess of revenge is very very suitable for Ken given his motivations up until October 4th! The color scheme really helps with this too. Just a very edgy design perfect for Ken.
Aigis: Palladion is really cool because it's not actually a person but rather an object! Specifically an object associated with protection very similar to aegis. Which well, is perfect for Aigis. A robot dedicated to protecting the protagonist. I can't quite put it into words but its just a really really cool design. I like the big metal spike going through it, very robotic and always reminds me of the front of a pirate ship, not sure if that was intentional tbh.
Metis: OK Psyche is tricky for me. As a design its really cool. I enjoy the butterfly motif a lot. I really like its dress too and I think it resembles Athena which makes a lot of sense given who Metis is! Why Psyche though? The only connection I can make is that Psyche was originally a mortal who was considered so beautiful people mistook her for Aphrodite. Which I guess ties into how Metis was mistaken for Aigis..? Idk there's def a connection here somewhere but I am not sure of what that is. It's still a cool design though.
And I think that's everyone? Hope I didn't forget anyone man this was fun to do. Congrats if you read it all LMAO

Sorry if you've already talked about this (if you have, I'd appreciate a link) but what are your thoughts on canon Lionblaze?
No apologies! I think I've only mentioned my thoughts on Lionblaze in passing as I talk about Po3 and OotS
In short, I feel like Po3 up through AVoS were so unfocused that they weren't able to tell a clear story about Lionblaze, or any of the Three really. They didn't have a clear arc as much as they all had disconnected story beats. I like Lionblaze as of TBC, but before...
In Po3 he has a friendship with Heatherpaw that gets broken off, which comes to a head in Eclipse when he's betrayed that the secret of the tunnels reached Onestar. What is it trying to say? Just that he's hurt...? That he will take revenge...? Controlling? No, none of it had a point, because he doesn't kill Ashfur.
He trains with the Dark Forest, but breaks it off easily later. If he's so lonely and thinks he's so special, how does this conflict go away so early? How does Hawkfrost not exploit Lionpaw's self confidence being centered around his fighting prowess? Why can't we get a scene with him and Bramble about this?
He doesn't do much of anything, really, besides wonder about the prophecy. It makes him think he's very special and hot stuff, but this doesn't really impact his relationships, or cause much drama besides Lionblaze occasionally fighting Berrynose. Hollyleaf is the one who's sneaking around and moving the plot.
Once we get to OotS, it feels like something's gonna happen when Lionblaze sends Russetfur into orbit... but it Doesn't. The arc's mostly about Lionblaze trying to force Dovewing to find and move the plot because Hollyleaf is gone, while being furious about Squilf.
It's not pleasant or compelling-- and OotS is where I stopped reading for many years because of it.
In TBC? NOW it feels like Lionblaze has a point. He's reckless, ferocious, violent. I appreciate that they made him into a BAD deputy, it was horrifying to see him react to Shadowsight the way he did.
The way several ThunderClan characters have been hardened in this arc-- It's good! FINALLY some good drama!
I hope this is the final incarnation of Lionblaze. I will be very disappointed if he mellows out. I appreciate characters who can move conflict on their own and ngl I hope he kills someone again.

in my mind bapo is in the late 90s/early 2000s bc if it took place now it wouldn't be as believable for me. i don't mean like "oh this would never happen" or that the message is only valid in that specific time frame. but also that late 90s/early 2000s is a really specific, like... it's that context, for me, which gives a lot of the never-spoken-always-heard-ness of the show. that marriage was only legal in one state, and obviously it wasn't their own; that there wasn't any representation--i mean, there was, but it's dubious if peter or jason had ever heard of them; that there was even any support that they knew of, surrounded only by dubious-but-better-to-be-safe options. for years, since they met and fell in love. of course that felt like forever to peter. of course anytime would feel too soon for jason. of course.
like, i don't mean to water down the pervasive homophobia that still exists today, in churches, in private schools (that kids have to Dorm In!), but we've come so far, really, and there is solace in an online community where there isn't in a private school that's known to be homophobic.
(institutionally anyway; nothing to say of the students themselves. my cousin goes to a private college that is quite never-spoken-always-heard itself, but there was a sorority/secret gsa where the greek letters literally spelled "GAY." they weren't found out for just about decades, iirc. but then they came out as a sort of protest and got shut down... of course the community is still there, and she found it quite quickly. if there is support you look for the signs. but still, still, you are hidden. and it is not as if peter and jason--if there was such a group at their small, tight-knit high school--would have known how to look for it, would have known what to look for, and how to be certain. at that time, homophobia was more acceptable (duh-doy), and as such, more casual and obvious, pervasive, ingrained. no wonder jason is homophobic. i would have no surprise if they didn't even consider the possibility of anyone else in school being queer... i often wonder how they came to come out to each other. how much they would have trusted each other already. to have your one confidant to be your lover, and for only you two to know. no wonder they are so close... no wonder they broke up, while still loving each other so deeply, knowing each other as irreparably well as they did. oh shit i'm digressing. anyway.)
so, here we have two gay teens on their own, who are the only real live queer people they know. they were so isolated. they became even more so when they broke up, and it says so much about how and why it happened, how deeply hurt and betrayed peter felt, when he cut jason off so thoroughly as to not even talk to him for a passing conversation in the hallway, when they used to be fucking desperate for even a fucking second in that hallway.
i don't know. i don't want to romanticize it, and if i am i don't mean to. but there's something about that isolation that makes it hit so much harder for me. the conversation they have in best kept secret, where jason urges peter to trust that time will be kind, and that he later loses trust in it... it makes more sense to me in that context, than it would have been if it took place now, when we have made so much progress that it's easier to trust in. it's still not easy or certain, but certainly we've come rather far.
although maybe i am biased because i get spiralingly upset whenever someone is flippant and dismissive of jason's concerns as if he is stupid for doubting the world and much more faithful in homophobia than he is in god, that he is idiotic for thinking that comphetting was his best option, that he is human and flawed and makes mistakes and wrongs people as a byproduct of wronging himself and can still be a victim all the same because at the end his regret and his self hatred and his fear kills him, and then he gets mocked for it. and so maybe my opinion about when bapo takes place is really more about my love and despair for jason and wanting more sympathy for him (as far as i can see/tell), and real people who made the same decisions as him, than it is about whatever contextual meaning that time provides.
anyway. about the timeframe (not the timeline i love you guys but i do not want timeline discourse again it hurts me every time i see it. i love it and i love each date that's sleuthed out but it hurts me and it has to hurt you guys too right? isn't it stressful to do all that time math??? all the time?? love yourselves. i love you.), what do you guys think of it? while the script never changes and the year is never spoken of, in my mind, the productions are always reflective of when they were performed. i can't help it, i really do think jason and peter are much more visibly/realistically concerned about the people around them in "you and i" in, say, 2004, than they are in like, 2016. they feel more tangible to me. but also i am limited and kind of petty. does time affect the story/production for you guys?

The Guardiana Magic School Run - Part 5
We arrive at Rindo, home of the greatest weapon of all time.
I can't buy it :')
To be fair, I don't want the squishy characters anywhere near the next opponents so it might be fine. The Steel Rings were a priority due to being chapter exclusive.
I guess I also need to talk about this peculiar drop. The Evil Ring is a cursed weapon that greatly raises attack. I barely remember how curses work in this game because i don't have an habit of equipping these. It can also be used to cast an overpowered Bolt, but that's against my rules. So I don't think this will be seeing any use.
It's okay though, because as the center of commerce Rindo has no shortage of stuff to pick from.
We pick up the Speed Ring and give it to Khris, who is terribly slow, this +4 boost barely gets her around Lowe's agility. Speaking of, one of her Steel Rings goes to him, and now they're tied at 8 defense.
As for the usual speciality ring, Rindo has the Charm Ring, clearly a help against the Marionette we'll deal with eventually. As you can see though, it is Slightly Costly. I'm not as much in a rush to get these as I was for the Steel Rings, because everyone in this team has some magic resistance already, but it would be nice. Kinda depends on how important the power staves turn out to be. More on that soon. Or right now, actually. There's no more window shopping to do and this town is too fancy for our tour, so we must head to Manarina where our magic advertisement will be much better received.
The Doll Hater is a beautifully named staff. From what I recall it's already stronger than the Power Staff by itself, and also gets bonuses against Mishaela's dolls. Clearly this version wanted players to have an easier time at the circus battle. Given how I don't have Power Staves yet, this would be a massive help and save money.
Unfortunately I can't say I have hope to get it.
Most of this battle with be in the desert, where everyone sucks at moving. While the enemies at the start are simple fare by now, dark dwarves and snipers and bats and other stuff we can kill quickly, but then there's this group of zombies at the end. Zombies tend to be an absolute pain both offensively and defensively, I do have some hope due to being in a greater level than I usually am on normal runs, but I have few characters to beat them up, and they can gang up on a single character. And poison. And the mages can come up as a duo for massive damage.
I hate this battle, okay. I hate it so much. It takes a bazillion turns to get to the hard part and then you suddenly die.
So yeah. I want to not die so I'll need to be extra careful and I think that ruins our chance of getting the clear bonus. Alas! Let's move.
The start of the battle is boring and easy yet takes seven turns. Dark dwarves are pathetic at this point so Max and Gong wipe them out taking scratch damage, with Khris even managing to get a kill and a level up with +4 MP, sucks that it doesn't apply to the current battle. I wanted to save Tao's MP for the zombies, but the bat is annoying and dodges several attacks and puts Max to sleep, and I'm trying to move fast, so in the end Tao has to do everything with two Blazes on it. Thankfully Max already woke up, but god this is slow.
At least when Gong hits, he HITS.
He continues to advance as the team's one punch man, killing a sniper for breakfast. Since he can't reach the mage next, I do some healing as Blaze 2 is still a lot of damage at this point.
There are also two bats coming from the right, but I don't want to waste time going after them especially when I'm likely to miss, I hope they come.
They come after Max's ass of course, what else did you expect. The mage also came after Max's ass. The Sniper came after Max's ass. You wish your feeble mind could conceive just how attractive that ass is. He's doesn't share the excitement though and is asleep again.
And wakes up immediately! Honestly that's really lucky, having the guy stuck for long could be a real problem here.
We are at turn 12, this might be impossible. Gong has one punched the dark mage who was the only big threat, so I'm wondering if it might be possible to go on ahead and let the bats follow me. Even that might not be enough to reach the zombies in time though. Also, I don't want to repeat my one death by thirst of an impossible bonus again.
afraid to say i'm doing it anyway though
Obviously the bats continue to chase Max, and he finally lands a counter to kill one, he had attempted this last turn but missed.
Unfortunately, the other bat has more typical behavior, so he's asleep.
I think this is on the reach of a single zombie? Please?
I think this guy will go for Max and not her, so I'm hoping to do some damage while not wasting much MP.
Turn 14. One zombie successfully baited and doing 1 damage, Max woke up. This is probably as good as it gets here. Gong gets to punch the zombie for half its HP as well, and is rewarded by all his efforts so far by getting Heal 2. The only thing against us as usual is that we might not have enough time, especially since the healers won't be hitting for much, and taking massive damage from the zombies. They have 8 defense each against the zombie's 16 attack. Tao has 9 defense as well. I don't want any of these people taking damage.
"And remember kids, you can't take damage if they turn to ash first."
I'm doubting Khris will ever reach anyone to do healing up there with the zombies, and she'll be even less useful as a fighter, so I'm wondering if she can be more helpful dealing with these guys instead.
:/
She thankfully takes only one damage (Steel Rings :D), but she's asleep now. oops.
Lowe however manages to kill the Sniper, so that's something.
Turn 15, I think Gong can survive on this side and then heal himself, hopefully the others will have managed to move closer by then.
Turn 16. Lowe has defeated the bat, but I don't have the slightest hope of him and Khris doing anything else now. Max and Gong have survived, Gong badly because of Blaze, and both are poisoned. I didn't prepare with any antidotes and Lowe is the Detox guy, so I'm gonna have to count on healing spells and herbs to counter the damage only.
I do think Gong can survive this turn though, he'll kill the mage, take 1 damage from the zombie, 2 from poison, and nothing else reaches him. He should survive. Please survive, man.
He can because Max is just too sexy. Turn 17 and I think we can do this, Gong should still survive at 1 HP after killing the mage and the enemies should beat up Max instead, who has 5 HP even after the Blaze 2 he took to the face last turn. We can do this let's goooooo
It works. Gong kills the mage, Max kills one zombie, Tao blazes the other for 5 HP. Next turn Gong has 1 HP and has to heal himself immediately to survive the poison, Max has 2 HP and probably could kill the zombie but I'm irrationally paranoid so I actually used an herb. Who knows, maybe the zombie has an evasion of 0.0000001% and I was gonna be the lucky soul to find out! So Tao blazes it again. Nothing more fitting as she is the face of this stupid run and its glorious school.
YEAH BABY
Our great efforts give us the privilege of being big haters on Mishaela from here on. We trash her circus area like delinquents and prepare for the next battle. Thankfully, the preparations do not include healing from poison, that's not a thing in this version, I forgot. Everyone's fine, which makes sense as Lowe has Detox, he can just make himself useful off screen like SF2 priests.
Speaking of Lowe, he has 1 more defense than Khris so I guess he'll be taking the Hater. Look at that. That's +2 compared to the Power Staff. This thing is pretty much the reason I considered doing this run, staff weapons at this point of the game get ridiculous.
The deals section continues to disappoint, so I sell Lowe's old staff to barely make enough money for a Charm Ring. I give it to Max because of how targeted he is, but I don't think a single one will help much after all, I'm hoping to stack more later.
That's all we can do, next time we finally get to Anri. I expect things to be chill there, but the circus and abbey battles in the future could be dicey.
Losses: 0
Deaths: 1
The expected deaths on Narsha interludes: 0/3

what are ur thoughts on the winners room trope?
ooooo okay surface level analysis: i like winner’s room fics :)
etwas tieferes: i think it’s cool that it’s (afaik) unique to hockey fandom and i enjoy the way it integrates a lot of unspoken rules in hockey with desire/makes them a physical/tangible reality… also the narrative potentials/world-building it opens up can be fun because there’s not really a set of rules for the “winner’s room” trope. are there in-universe rules? who gets chosen? who’s exempt? who gets to pick? where’s it going down? is it the entire room or one guy? what if your (ex)boyfriend is on another team? does somebody need to be taught a lesson or do you need to remind someone who got traded you still love them? also, most important, winner’s room gives you the chance to put two random-ass guys you saw interact for 0.002 seconds and went “hmmm. interesting” about into a Situation and i love that

i don’t get how people can complain about the writing “doing Martha dirty” when that same writing gives her an ending that addresses her treatement over the course of the season, allows her to finally put her to foot down, to establish her self-worth as an individual and to air out her grievances, and gives her the most respectful and satisfying exit from the TARDIS we’d yet seen in the show . like it’s one thing to dislike the direction the writing team took with her arc and to criticise it (perfectly fine) and another to somehow miss it entirely lmao . the ‘martha feels out of place, second best, and like a rebound’ is an intentional piece of writing that gets resolved by the end of the season . like that wasn’t smth they threw in for shits and giggles, it had in-story repercussions

I need to tell you that your pazdin is one of my favorite fics of all time ! do you think you'd be writing more?
thank u so much (also sorry to you as well for the delay in answering) I am very fond of that story but I have an actual visceral dislike for how they handled things in the mandalorian and while I will always treasure it because one of my best friends and I watched it together I am so averse to it that I don't think I am going to write anything for it anymore sorry 💔 I did have another dinpaz thought which was more an excuse to have fun than anything else but p much everything I write is an excuse to put characters in situations and explore them so I got tired of it quickly. if by any chance I get around and actually write it then sure I'd be uploading it but I just don't have it in me anymore 😭 sorry THANK U SO MUCH THOUGH! this was v sweet anon🌟
