So a few months ago, Sis, myself and Dad spent just over $100 on Girl Scout cookies between the three of us. Then last Thursday I get a phone call from the local office of the Girl Scouts of America telling me we won the five-for-five raffle. I was like, “we didn’t enter a raffle” and they said “no you get entered automatically.” I couldn’t believe it, only the second time I’ve ever won anything in a raffle! They said we get five free boxes of cookies and we could pick them up on Monday. So we were very excited! But then I texted my Girl Scout’s mom and she said “Yay, 60 boxes of cookies!” I said, “calm down, girl, it’s five boxes of cookies.” She texted back, “No they said ‘boxes’ but they meant the big boxes. They meant ‘cases’. The raffle was for five *cases* and there are 12 boxes in a case which means 60 boxes of cookies.” Yes, guys, holy smoly, we won 60 boxes of cookies! Sis had to be in her office on Monday, but the cookie pick up was right by my niece’s school so my sister-in-law picked up the boxes for us and then their family took some of the boxes off our hands. And then we gave some to our dad, and we gave some to our neighbor, and we are giving some to our bestie. But we’re also eating a lot. I’ve already eaten my way through one and a half boxes and it’s only been four days. So much for watching my sugar, I’m gonna be pooping Girl Scout cookies for weeks and I don’t even care because this is the best thing I’ve ever won in my life!

One of my friends was telling me about Until Dawn (which I know next to nothing about). At one point they mention one of the locations in the game being a sanitarium. This caused me to remember something. I had stayed the night, actually two I think, at a site that used to be a hospital for a Girl Scout activity when I was in elementary school. I was pretty sure it was a like specific hospital, like for a specific disease. I looked it up and sure enough it's Wikipedia mentioned "its prior use as a tuberculous sanitarium". I relayed this to them along with the fact that from what I could remember (and it has been over ten years) the Girl Scouts didn't try super hard to change the building itself. Like pale outside with a white interior and I could have sworn at the time the bed frames were like black metal or something, though looking a more recent pictures on the website show them made of wood. Not to mention the room I specifically was staying in wasn't much of a room more like part of a hallway. But yeah basically sanitarium vibe is still there!

Anyway my friend thought it was neat I spent the night at a former sanitarium as a small child, getting to live that horror movie/game life. So if you too would like to hang out and sleep in a former sanitarium join Girl Scouts and go to Camp Bothin!

girl scout cookie season is coming up. keep cash in multiples of $4 on you, be kind to any and all scouts you meet, and order from scouts you know. that money goes directly back into the troop to fund all the shit they do - badges, camping, field trips, scholarships, uniforms, all of it. i was a girl scout for 5 years and wouldn’t have been able to afford it without our troop’s cookie money. girl scouts is a nonprofit org, cookie sales are how they fundraise.
