I've done my share of nitpicking about Kanej in the show so let me just say that the choice to put not one, but two of their significant scenes in chapels and liken Kaz's feelings toward Inej to religious faith was an A+ adaptational choice, I love it, I hope they keep doing it.

Shiryu wakes up at 5am, Ikki goes to bed at 5am, everytime they meet there's this awkward silence from both parties

Shiryu is one of the few people Ikki doesn't get overwhelmed by, as he's got that calming energy, when he's tired or annoyed Ikki just bumps into Shiryu's back and complains about his day while Shiryu is listening

They really enjoy training together with physical fights ! They have really different fight styles so they learn a lot from each other

When Ikki gets hurt and doesn't want to worry Shun he usually goes to Shiryu. He's not as good as Shun, but can clean the wounds and bandage them, he keeps the secret for Ikki, even if he doesn't really like lying, he gets it

Remember how Shun listens to Shiryu infodumping ? Yeah, Ikki does that too, but he probably doesn't understand half of what he's saying, but does it because he knows Shiryu enjoys it (and honestly the less he talks the better he feels so it's a win-win situation)

Ikki is NOT used to people talking to him back, first time Shiryu yelled back bro got flabbergasted, he didn't think it'd be HIM out of everyone
