It's about time I went to show off characters kept in the rambles! Here we got Paprika and Arbol
A studying nurse to doctor in her field, Paprika was taken in by Ambrosia and their crew quite a few years ago now! Often having the compliment of being in relation to Giant Clam and Scallop, she boarded with the both of them to start off this new journey on land to try and take a refresh of life. With the caring and warm-hearted job she put herself in, her sarcastic and blunt demeanor shine through... However, she remains caring and soft in the heart, evident in her meticulous stitches and unwavering loyalty.
As for Arbol, a sudden new link to Paprika's family line, he's been so far claimed the technician parts of the crew ship! Shown up years later in the search of his former niece, now newly adopted daughter, upon hearing the situation where they were starting anew and out of the water. Now, here they both were stuck together! Giving Paprika and the rest of the crew, his much needed support and smarts... which of how he got to land immediately turns into a yap fest, so it's best to leave it to the imagination...
Captain Ambrosia, Giant Clam, and Scallop all belong to @rawdough as well as all of these rambles originate between us both! LOL

What Is and Isn't a Fish: a List
A list of the animals I discussed in my fish essay, but for those who don't want to scroll through paragraphs of text to find out if an animal is or isn't a fish. Just CTRL+F your way through here!

Some notes before you proceed:
Yes, all tetrapods are fish! We are phylogenetically fish, as we are and our ancestors were lobe-finned fish! "Fish" in the phylogenetic sense is a paraphyletic group if you try to exclude tetrapods, so it is frankly impossible.
How come tetrapods aren't listed as fish then? Long answer, read my essay. Short answer, me and other fish accounts tend to operate on the morphological definition of fish, so does most of the world. Here I use the morphological definition of "fish".

Making Fiends Halloween Headcanons 🎃 💙 💚

Charlotte 🎃💙:
• This year for Halloween she’s going as a rainbow unicorn fairy candy princess! 🌈 🦄 🧚 🍬 👸
• Buttons, her small hamster, is dressed as her noble steed, and Buttons 2, her “puppy”, is dressed as a cowboy.
• Charlotte helps her grandma bake Halloween cookies and carve pumpkins!
• The blue girl is blissfully ignorant as to why the people of Clamburg are so terrified on this holiday.
• While trick or treating, she encounters a group of not so friendly fiends who don’t look too happy to see her. The creatures growl in anger, showing off their massively sharp teeth as they slowly approach Charlotte, ready to attack her. Instead of running away like most would in a situation like this, the blue girl decides to happily feed the monsters her clams, beef jerky, and grape punch candy, turning them benevolent.
• When Charlotte spots Vendetta “trick or treating” (she’s really just taking candy from the other children) with her giant hamster, the blue girl’s eyes sparkle in excitement as she rushes over and asks Vendetta if the three of them can go all trick or treating together. Vendetta, of course, says no, but Charlotte continues to ask, pestering the other girl to no end.
Vendetta 🎃💚:
• She LOVES Halloween! It’s the one day a year where she gets to take and devour all the free candy she wants and terrorize the stupid people in town.
• She sends her fiends and giant hamster off to go decorate her home with evil and scary Halloween decor.
• IF she’s feeling generous, which isn’t likely, she might give a piece of candy or two to her tiny parents.
• This year, she will be a witch and her hamster will be a vampire.
• She tells he fiends to take people's candy and deliver it to her.
• When Charlotte comes and starts bothering her, Vendetta decides to create a Halloween-themed fiend to destroy the stupid girl. What happens is the same old same old - Vendetta makes the fiend, but Charlotte somehow finds a way to make the fiend friendly or have it do something to her benefit.

CE characters as Dads
Steve Rogers:
Steve loves being a dad.
He's retired from going on missions, but still trains new recruits and does paperwork.
You help out on missions, but decided to work more on the training end rather than going in the field.
You and Steve have three kids: James Joseph Rogers, Sarah Anne Rogers, and Margaret Louise Rogers.
You were apprehensive about naming your last baby Margaret, but you wanted to honor Peggy Carter's memory.
James' and Sarah's first word was Mama.
Margaret's first word was Dada.
School lunches have to be meticulously planned and packed.
Steve is confused about nut allergies, gluten free stuff, and vegan stuff.
Remember, this wasn't a thing when Steve was alive.
Dietary needs have changed tremendously since Steve came out of the ice.
You help Steve pack the lunches.
Dinner? You and Steve cook dinner together.
Steve loves making meatloaf, spaghetti, lasagna, mac and cheese, pizza, and burgers.
You make more advanced things like baked ziti, baked chicken, fish tacos (they're a favorite with James and Sarah), regular tacos, sloppy joes (they're Margaret's favorite), clam chowder (a family favorite), turkey, roast beef, and pizza.
Steve loves family movie night and family game night.
You watch anything Disney, and family game night is always kid friendly games.
Steve never thought he'd have the chance to be a dad.
He achieved his dream with you.
Colin Shea:
Colin becomes a stay at home dad.
Eva works because she makes more money than Colin did.
It's an arrangement that works out for the both of them.
Colin volunteers in Harper's class and plays with Robbie.
Colin also keeps the house clean and keeps everything going.
When Eva comes home, he always starts dinner.
Pasta? Done! Fried chicken? Done! Mexican takeout? Done! Chinese takeout? Done! Pizza with cheesy bread and that giant brownie for dessert? Done!
Family movie nights are the best.
Colin and Eva fix a huge bowl of popcorn, and arrange some dollar store candy for everyone to snack on while watching the movie.

You, Harlan, and Katherine are Ransom's world.
Ransom embraced fatherhood.
He embraced married life.
He embraced your MS.
He often picks up the twins from pre-school.
He loves reading to the twins.
He loves cooking for the family.

The girls watch Disney movies, the Harry Potter movies, the X-Men films, and they also love Star Wars and Star Trek.
Jake wouldn't trade this life for the world.
Johnny Storm:
Johnny loves being a dad.
He often takes Jake to work with him so you can take a nap, or take a shower, or even remember to eat.
His aunt Susan will often watch Jake when Johnny has to do something.
Aunt Susan often gives Jake candy or cookies when you and Johnny aren't looking.
Johnny and you bottle feed Jake because Jake was unable to breastfeed, so you pump your milk.
Johnny or Susan will often take Jake when you need to pump your milk.
Johnny is all about you and Jake.
Diaper change? Done! Giving Jake his bath? Done!
You often have dinner ready when Johnny comes home.
It's the only time you and Johnny can have an adult conversation, and talk about wedding planning.
Johnny loves spending time with you and Jake, and he loves being a dad.

Drowning in the Deep Mysterious Waters
Tommy was the biggest Mer on the reef. His reef the best reef around and it was all his. No one ever dared to swim into his territory.
But that might be because of where the reef was situated. Just on the edge of a very deep dark sea trench, that may or may not contain something sinister. Not that the young merling knew that. Sure he’d heard the stories of things hidden in the depths, but Tommy knew to stay in the reef. It’s one of the few things the adults of his pod had told him, and that he should never leave it without someone with him.
However, Tommy had been abandoned by his pod awhile ago. But he was doing just fine on his own! He didn’t need anyone to protect him! It’s not like he missed them anyways. He didn’t pretend the fish of the reef would talk to him so he didn’t feel lonely. Nope! He was a Big Mer and was just fine.
Now Tommmy would say he’s a pretty amazing hunter. No one could hunt as well as the Great Tommyinnit!!! But when a perfect piece of fresh fish is left not far away from outside the reef, he decides he can spare the clams for one day. He takes the fish and greedily eats it, hunger fully satisfied for the first time in ages. Its odd that the fish was there in the first place, but Tommy is too hungry to think about that right now.
But it continues to happen. Each morning there would be more fish near the outside of the reef. And each morning it would be left closer and closer to the edge of the trench. Tommy had never gone this close to the trench before. The warnings his pod left him with drowned out by the feeling of hunger. But now full, he noticed the abnormality of it all. Suddenly, he wasn’t so sure taking the food was ok.
But he was hungry. He wanted the food. And it was right there! Unguarded and a new piece appeared every morning! Surely whatever was leaving him the food couldn’t be that bad??
Except for the fact that Tommy had awoken early one morning to see a giant, green scaled siren, with hair as blonde as the sand, strike the fish that was now resting at the edge of trench. Oh he was so screwed.
Basically, Tommy is a mer baby that’s been adopted by giant siren Phil who lives in the trench :3
If I actually get motivated enough, maybe I’ll write this but if someone else gets inspired and writes it first, TAG ME!!!

Yo what's goin on with case #72?
My attempt at writing a murder mystery in three days while I was at a girls camp. But I came up with some pretty interesting characters so although I never finished it, I hold it dear.

Case File: #72
Detective On Duty: August S.
Time Period: June 13-15
Case Name: The Girl Who No-One Liked (Wip name!!)

A murder occurred on June 13th, the infamous Kelly J. was suddenly down on the ground in a pool of blood. Shortly after the tragedy her body went missing alongside any evidence.
A mystery was born, and everyone was a suspect.
But I’m getting ahead of myself, I should begin where all stories begin,(no not my birth), but three (3) day’s before the crime occurred.

Here’s a snippet of all the characters: (our main character is August, a 12 year old girl who aspires to be a detective)
Sycamore Camp is run by my school, Sycamore School.
The founders of the school started it as a “fun activity that will inspire perseverance and survival skills for youth.” But that just meant you had to walk a lot.
The school buses could take us most of the way, but we had to hike the last three hours to a crook at the top of the Mount Reswald where the camp was located.
At this point in the story, er, file, I should point out a few oddballs in my school who will be important to this case.
First of all, S.S (Sycamore School) has kids from my age, all the way to high school seniors. Every age goes to this camp. In my class we have the most important to the case, Billy, Turnip, Mike, Ike, and Taffy.
Billy, who I call Search Browser Billy, (not that he ever bothered to give me a nickname), supplies me with additional information when necessary. A detective needs their sources after all. Sometimes he’ll answer whether I ask or not.
He wriggles himself into all different groups, ones his age or not, and collects secrets, confessions, details etc. Anything he can get his ears on.
Despite not giving me a nickname when I gave him one, he’s promised me to always be the first to know when new information is revealed.
Next is Turnip, not her birth name of course. Though I’ve never been able to actually confirm that. Billy knows nothing either seeing as she clams up whenever he walks by.
I once followed her to her parents car when they were picking her up one day, but they too call her Turnip.
She often reminds me of a mushroom. It might be because of her haircut though. Gloomy and glaring, I find her too intimidating to approach. I’ve only observed her from afar but that hasn’t gotten me anywhere.
Onto the twins, Mike and Ike. Contrary to their names however, they are anything but sweet. A twin rivalry has persisted ever since they were six. Billy tells me it’s because one Christmas one of their toys was slightly bigger than the other and he complained about it for days. Out of desperation their parents insisted that everything they do would be exactly the same. Same clothes, same food, same toys.
I suspect this has only made them more resentful, trying to prove one of them is better.
The last important figure in my class is Taffy. Short for Tiffany. The teachers are the only ones who call her Taffy, so she resents the rest of us. I’ve profiled her as a rebel. She gels her hair up in a mohawk, wears denim vests with cut sleeves, and large cowboy boots that when heard gives the impression of a giant walking down the halls.
She often crosses her arms, and I’m beginning to think they’re just glued that way. She spurs everyone during lunch to watch her jump off the highest things she can find before the teachers stop her. And challenges random unlucky people to spontaneous straw sword fights.
I’ve always thought of her as an ally. A detective needs a good distraction sometimes when investigating, so I always keep her favorite candy, green lollipops, on hand at all times.
Then there’s Colin’s class, the soon to be 12th graders.
First up is the infamous Kelly. J.
I say infamous because she’s the cookie cutter popular girl, except everyone hates her.
A scowl permanently on her face, rude, and only communicating in scoffs, the younger classes have taken to giving her an equally hateful scowl in return.
The only people who seem to tolerate her is her best friend Marge, and her boyfriend Brad.
Marge is really Margaret, but she insists it really says Marge on her birth certificate. Brad was a little different. Instead of tolerating her, he was more scared of her. Being treated more like a butler than a boyfriend, he listens to her every command, always giving her that same nervous smile.

I might as well tell you the ending because I don’t really plan on finishing it anytime soon. So Kelly J actually faked her death so she could leave her school that hates her and go to a new one. (Very dramatic) Her bf Brad was really suspicious throughout the story so August thought it was him, but in really he had had a fight with Kelly prior to her “death” and told her to “trip on a rock and die” so he thought it was his fault. They were fighting about how in kindergarten he should’ve won this race but he kept tripping (bcuz of Kelly).

While flipping through old issues of Esquire, looking back at seventy-six years of stories, we came across this treasure trove of odd recipes from the November 1984 issue. In it, such era-appropriate icons like Walter Mondale, Malcolm Forbes, and Nancy Reagan espoused the virtues of persimmon puddings, goose with prunes, and coconut drinks at a Thanksgiving meal. While we cannot vouch for these fourteen recipes — oddly, no one wanted to make former New York Times food critic Craig Claiborne's "Mousse of Saltcod" — we've republished them in the interest of kitsch, irony, and sheer amusement.
