MH doodles and concepts
First just random fanart
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I love sweet water lagoona im sorry shes so cute
Now then those are mostly designs i stopped working on for many reasons and i can barely find good images of them now cause theyre not even on my computer. Maybe i revisit them in the future but who knows
Tumblr media Tumblr media
First something i tried together w the beach fan design- literally a gamer inspired line lol called gamer ghouls. i hate how drac turned out but the heart-shaped switch is something cool- i like frankie’s outfit and ghoulia is my fave here.  its funny cause something i always think when i make g3 designs is ‘’how can i include drac in this’’ cause realistically my line of thinking is ‘’would these sell’’ and drac sells. i also try to keep in mind materials and how well the items would perform as toys too. drac is hideous here tho.  the ghouls drinking monster was super funny in my head
Tumblr media
drac in uniform sketch cause why not
Tumblr media
this is a rough one. its for g1, i came up w the concept talking to an old friend, bonita and venus were her favorite dolls and i came up with the concept of a cybergoth inspired Bonita doll and a more slick also cyber inspired figure for venus (shes barely sketched there).
we had LOTS of creative differences (i came with a color pallete much, much different from that since i was inspired by cybergoth, focusing on neon and dark colors) and specially after some personal stuff i just gave up. i still like the concept but i cant really stand working with a concept in mind just to realize the other person isnt interested unless its their way. i wish i can revisit her in the future and apply the stuff i actually envisioned for her- but well, so far thats what we got. cant say im happy aside from the silhouette.
Tumblr media
some other reaaally rough ideas for the beach line project for g3. i did most of those during my office work lol. those are for ghoulia. for her i wanted to keep in mind her 50s theme from g1 actually cause i love it so much. thats where the glam chill look came from. then i was like eh its nice but new ghoulia is way more rad and sporty so i tried to think of her doing surf (i also have sketches for deuce in surf attire so they would be fun) i have so many of those all over my house cause when g3 was barely launching i was so excited. and so bored at work. so i just got every paper note i could to sketch random ideas lol Also SILLY OC ALERT!!!
Tumblr media
This was mostly a joke but i made her thinking of ET Bilu from a brazilian urban legend lol. thinking of her as a scary skinny legend w stereotypical and hilarious proportions common to old MH dolls was what inspired me at first but then also the whole 2012 pop diva look. Shes just a funny little gal. busquem conhecimento!

Top five monster high characters
OH BOY OH MY THANKS SO MUCH FOR THIS ASK!! i love them ALL so much so this is a hard decision but i do have a pretty thought out list:
1) Ghoulia Yelps
this might be surprising since my pfp is quite literally frankie stein but ghoulia is actually my #1 bbygirl beloved. which is interesting, because she was actually my least favourite as a kid and i was actively terrified of her (i had a serious fear of zombies). ghoulia is also extremely aromantic and no i will not be taking notes but if prompted (or even without. because i am nothing if not annoying) i can and will explain at length exactly why ghoulia is the #1 aro coded monster high character. also she’s just cool (ZOMBIE SCENE QUEEN AUGHHHH)
2) Robecca Steam
SHE IS A VICTORIAN STEAMPUNK ROBOT. need i say more. i don’t, but i will just bc i love her and want to share. if you don’t know her doll comes with spinnable cogs on her legs! and she travels around in canon with steam powered rocket boots. sick right, yes. her design is so over the top and cool in every way. i love her dorky polite personality and her inability to use any piece of technology invented after the year 1900. hashtag alive in the wrong era, but literal. bc she actually is, someone help this girl
3) Draculaura
who doesn’t love drac!!! she’s literally the sweetest girl alive. she was my absolute fave as a kid. draculaura on top (㇏(•̀ᵥᵥ•́)ノ)
4) Abbey Bominable
ABBEY!!!!! i love her. literal ice queen and actual menace (complimentary). she is literally everyone’s favourite mean friend except she’s not really mean at all she’s just too real for some people. forever iconic, abbey ilysm
5) Scarah Screams
I was really debating giving this spot to Operetta (Operetta apologist for life btw) but the thing that broke the tie for me was down to character design. i love them both but omg. scarah is on another level she is literally freaky weirdgirl personified i think she is so cool y’all
…6) G3 Frankie Stein
OK I KNOW THIS IS A TOP 5 LIST… but this is a g1 list so far so it doesn’t count technically. g3 frankie is honestly the best thing about the reboot to me so far; i like some of the other reboot designs but personality wise, g3 frankie is absolutely my fave of the new cast. i genuinely adore them so so immensely everytime they’re on screen they make me smile :)
now it’s time for the RUNNERS UP (ie. i love them a lot but not quite top 5s):
Operetta:
people who hate on Operetta need to rewatch like all the movies and webisodes bc um. she has never done anything wrong actually yall just forgot what happened. leave my girl alone 🗣️
Spectra:
NOIR DETECTIVE JOURNALIST GHOST GIRL!!!! literally no notes. go watch (or rewatch) this right now and be happy.
Deuce:
he’s just a surfer dude himbo whose voice may randomly turn into 2000s pop autotune at any given moment (he might need to get that checked out). is it possible to not love him
-
i truly do love every single MH character though (except manny.) they are all so cool and special so this is just a personal list of my fave designs, concepts and characters :))

What's ur fave (or top few fave) dolls, out of curiosity?
If you’re asking from personal collection, asdsstbvg, there are so many I love, but if I have to only pick a few, it would be these ones
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Operetta and Kiyomi were on my dream dolls list for a long time. I actually have two Operettas but I have plans on turning the other one into a OOAK doll in the near future.
I also have two versions of the G3 Lagoona but I love this one in particular because I love her look so much.
Draculaura was my first Monster High doll and what got me into collecting so she holds a special place in my heart. I love her so much.
If you’re curious about what some of my dream dolls are:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
C.A. Cupid is at the top of my dream doll list. I love her design so much.
The collectors editions of Ghoulia and Draculaura are just so 😩💕
Robecca Steam, Steampunk is one of my favorite aesthetics so when I found out there was a steampunk themed monster high doll, you have no idea how excited I got!

can you tell me more about Monster High's characters? i can't seem to find much information on them, and i'm very curious.
OK SO
keep in mind these are all coming from someone who hasn't watched the webisodes since 2015, has not watched any of the movies, and only has recent knowledge from the 2016 reboot media. It should be ok though ^^
Frankie Stein: Her dad is Frankenstein (I can't actually remember if its the scientist or the monster) and was created just before the start of the series. She's very young in terms of that and is a little naïve and innocent. She wants everyone to get along and also is fairly boy crazy 😅. In the 2016 reboot she's the smart science lover and is often inventing stuff.
Draculaura: Her dad is Dracula. She's a vegan vampire and iirc she can only transform into a bat in the 2016 reboot. She's a sweetheart who loves parties and dressing really cute. She was dating Clawdeen's brother Clawd in the 2010-2015 series.
Clawdeen Wolf: She's a werewolf and can transform into a wolf at will in the 2016 reboot. She loves fashion design and is sort of the no-nonsense ghoul in her group who doesn't like people disrespecting her friends. She has two older siblings, Clawd and Clawdia, and a younger sister Howleen.
Lagoona Blue: My favourite character when I was a kid! She's a saltwater sea monster from Australia who is super athletic and is part of the school's swim team. She's really kind and friendly and is always looking out for her friends. In the 2010-2015 series she was dating Gil Webber who is a freshwater sea monster, which caused trouble due to Gil's parents hating saltwater sea monsters.
Cleo De Nile: Absolute queen, I love her sm. Her dad is a mummy and Egyptian royalty which means she's a literal princess. As a result she's kinda sorta arrogant and expects an absurd amount of respect from others and loves receiving expensive gifts. She used to be extremely rude to others but over time has softened up and made friends with the main ghouls. In the 2010-2015 series she was dating Deuce (my favourite MH couple 😌).
Ghoulia Yelps: Another fave! She's a zombie so she can't talk and can only communicate with moans. Despite her looks she's often referred to as the smartest monster in the school and loves things like science and math. She also really loves comic books and video games and often daydreams that she's her favourite superhero Ms Dead Fast.
Deuce Gorgon: His mother is Medusa, and while he has the same turning-people-into-stone powers, his only seem to last for a few hours. He wears sunglasses all the time to prevent it from happening. He's a dudebro who's also has a skater punk aesthetic and is on the basket casketball team. He's also really sweet and loyal to his girlfriend Cleo which is 🥺.
Jackson Jekyll: The 'normie' side of MH's resident jekyll-hyde, and only character who's seen as a full 'normie'. He was bullied about it when he first started at Monster High, until people discovered that he transforms into Holt Hyde when exposed to a very specific type of music. He's a geek who is also really good at school and is also really socially awkward and often interpreted as being depressed. He inherited the jekyll-hyde stuff from his mother while his father is a fire elemental.
Holt Hyde: The 'monster' side of MH's resident jekyll-hyde, and a complete opposite of Jackson. He loves parties, loud music and is a DJ. He's also a troublemaker who breaks a lot of rules and has a short temper. The fire elemental inheritance is a lot more noticeable when in this form due to his hair literally becoming flames and melting things when angry.

Mattel Shop Exclusive Ghoulia Yelps Diary
Field Entry 1
I was in my fave library when I discovered a trapdoor! I lowered myself down into a shadowy room crowded with books, journals, chunks of cave walls, every possible historical document imaginable. Someone had obviously dumped archives through the opening! For a ghoul like me, I was both horrified at the disregard for treasure, and totes excited to be the one to make such a discovery! Everything was coated with years’ worth of dust, which tickled my nose in the beast way. I couldn’t wait to dig in.
I was drawn to a woven basket filled with scrolls. Unrolling one, I was shocked to see an image of eye glasses like mine and knew instantly this scroll was meant for me. Less intelligent monsters might chalk such intuition up to psychic ability, but we zombies use more brains and make connections that most can merely scream of. The scroll went on to reveal that a diamond, or rather the monster for whom the diamond represented, is the other half of my heart... my destined BFF.
Then I grasped a diamond-embellished scroll and knew it would lead to my bestie. Don’t ask how I knew. As I’ve already explained, only zombies would understand, and they wouldn’t need to ask. Sadly, that scroll was torn, but it revealed the first letter of my bestie’s name: there was an image of a woven basket, much like the basket the scrolls were in, which in Ancient Egyptian letters corresponds to a “C”. I copied it into my field journal. I must go immediately to Egypt to unwrap more clues!
Field Entry 2
I donned my archeological gear and called Sir-Hoots-A-Lot, who would want to be part of this expedition. Upon arriving in Egypt, we unburied evidence that diamonds were favored by a princess whose family has been missing for millennia. This news should have dampened my determination, for surely she could not still be alive. However, I understand what it is like to be undead and carried on, certain I was finding these clues now for a reason. Shortly after making that decision, we found a lion statue, which quite obviously symbolized the second letter of her name: “L”. You’ll have to trust me on that.
Field Entry 3
Trekking toward a distant pyramid, we happened upon a papyrus plant and Sir Hoots was quite right to point out that its reed represented the letter “E.” Finally at the pyramid, I could wait no longer. You might assume a zombie wouldn’t be good at scaling triangular buildings but you’d be incorrect. I scrambled up and was surprised to find a crack in the roof, through which I observed the most unusual sight: there seemed to be a sporting event in progress, with ghouls fearleading while a cobra tossed around a scarab for laughs. I was intrigued but started slipping down the pyramid just as the fabulous ghoul in bejeweled wraps flipped over and caught sight of me. For the brief moment our eyes met, I felt my heart expand.
Field Entry 4
Sir Hoots and I hastened to find an entrance but the pyramid was sealed like a tomb. My bestie must be trapped in there! And if the stories about the missing princess are ture, she has been waiting for me to rescue her for far too long to contemplate. Then I noticed something interesting on each side of the pyramid, the letters reappeared: Woven basket C, Lion L, Reed E. But on the 4th side, there was a monstrously heavy stone engraved with a diamond. This was it! I tried pushing it, kicking it, and asking it politely, all to no effect. Then I had an idea and retrieved rope from my backpack. As I fashioned it into a lasso, I felt everything come together. Of course! Lasso is the letter “O”! My bestie’s name is Cleo! Once I got the lasso around the stone, it was like destiny took hold and gave me extra strength. I tugged hard and the stone moved to reveal an ornate door. Then the door opened and I found myself dazed by gold and jewels - there she was in all her princess glory! She was as gore-geous as I had envisioned and to my delight she greeted me: “Bespectacled dream ghoulfriend! I’ve been expecting you and my bags are packed!” And that is the story of how I rescued my BFF.
Field Entry Post Script
Moments after Cleo and I were united, there was a knock on her bedchamber door from the outside, where I had just removed the stone. I hid while she answered, since we both thought it strange that she suddenly had guests. The visitors turned out to be ghouls from a place called Monster High, and they believed they were the ones who had rescued Cleo, despite arriving at her unburied door thanks to my brains and zombie strength. But that is another story...

I decided to fill out that one Monster High doll collector questionnaire for funsies.
Anyone who wants to see what my opinions are, click the ‘read more.’
Questionnaire by @cryptoriascollectiblog.
1) Introduce yourself and tell us how long you’ve been collecting Monster High dolls!
I’m Max (female), and I’ve been marginally interested in the MH line of dolls ever since they came out, but I’ve only been buying them for about 5 years now.
2) How many MH dolls do you have?
I own 23 dolls (if you count Sandy de Nile as a doll).
3) Is Monster High your favorite doll line? Why or why not?
To me, MH is on equal footing with Barbie. I like the MH characters, but I’m not a super big fan of their original fashions, and I’m just more pleased by Barbie’s clothes and hair styles. But, on that note, while Barbie is appealing and comfortable to me, I really appreciate how quirky and wacky the MH characters can look.
4) Who’s your favorite MH ghoul?
Frankie Stein, no doubt about it. I really like her visual aesthetics, and her face has always been super cute, and her color schemes go so well together, and agh, she’s so precious! Three of my dolls are Frankie and I love them.
5) Favorite Manster?
Definitely Jackson Jekyll. And I like him for a lot of the same reasons I like Frankie: colors, face, aesthetics, etc.
6) Do you own any dolls of your favorite ghoul and/or manster? How many?
Again, I own three Frankies, and I also own one Jackson. When I saw the Frankie/Jackson graveyard picnic 2-pack, I had to get it. I also have the ‘I <3 Fashion’ Frankie and the comic-themed reboot Frankie.
7) Do you own any playsets? If so which one(s)? If not, is there a reason?
No, I don’t. Playsets as a concept don’t really appeal to me these days.
8) Of the original main ghouls (including Ghoulia, Spectra and Abbey) which is your favorite? Got any dolls of them?
Ahem, Frankie. Aside from the obvious, I’m also a fan of Cleo, Draculaura, and Spectra. I have a Cleo doll (reboot family set) and I’m pretty happy with her.
9) Favorite character with only one doll release?
I wanna say Kjersti as my top fave (I’m a sucker for the little nordic gamer), but second tier would probably go to either Porter or Neighthan (I like their dolls, but not their characters).
10) Character with too many dolls (in your opinion?)
Depending on whether you see the baby siblings as actual dolls or not, I’m gonna have to say Sandy de Nile, who has had 2 releases, which was 1 too many in my opinion. It’s not like the two versions look drastically different or anything - only the torso got painted a little differently. That’s all. What’s the point?
I don’t know about the conventional dolls.
11) Any character you would’ve liked to see in a doll line that didn’t make it? (i.e. Lagoona in Sweet Screams or Draculaura in Power Ghouls, etc)
Lol, ‘Geek Shriek’ Holt would have absolutely killed me.
‘Dead Tired’ Howleen & Twyla 2-pack.
‘Sweet Screams’ Rochelle as macaroon and wafer cookies and hot cocoa.
12) Any ideas you would’ve liked to see in a doll line?
I would have rather they just expanded on some of the lines they started but only did like 3 dolls in.
But I would have liked to have seen a line that was just centered around gaming, where each character has a different game theme. Like, Cleo has a tabletop RPG theme, Ghoulia has competitive chess or something, and Jinafire or someone has a Candy Crush-like app game theme. I think that would have been a cool line.
13) Is there a “grail” MH doll for you? If so do you own it?
‘Little Dead Riding Wolf,’ and no, I do not currently own her. (I am such a sucker for Little Red Riding Hood, leave me alone.)
14) Thoughts on the cancelled Ever After High crossover?
I’m honestly glad they didn’t go through with it, because by the time they got around to seriously talking about it, I was so sure it was going to turn out really badly.
Besides, their choice of not doing it has given the fans the freedom to tell a crossover story in whatever way they choose.
15) Thoughts on the 2016 reboot faces?
I think they’re cute! I really like them! :-D
16) Thoughts on the 2016 “Monster Family” line?
It’s an adorable idea! And I’ve wanted other siblings for so many of the characters (especially the Wolfs and the de Niles) for such a long time now.
17) How bout the SDCC exclusives? What was your favorite? Do you own any?
I don’t own any. And honestly, I never paid that much attention to what doll was a San Diego exclusive and what wasn’t.
I think my favorites are super-fan Ghoulia, and the Whisp/Valentine 2-pack.
18) How about Amazon exclusives?
The special Skelita is very pretty. The family got her for my collector sister as a gift. She’s a very lovely figure.
19) Favorite Frankie Stein doll?
... I can’t choose. I love so many.
Of the three I own, I think the one from the graveyard picnic 2-pack is my favorite.
20) Favorite Draculaura doll?
I’m gonna have to say the ‘Dance the Fright Away’ reboot doll is my favorite Lala, with a close second of her ‘Classrooms’ doll. ‘Snow Bite’ and ‘Sweet 1600′ and ‘Sweet Screams’ are also really great.
21) Favorite Clawdeen Wolf doll?
‘Frights Camera Action’ Clawdeen.
22) Favorite Cleo de Nile doll?
The one from that 2-pack with Ghoulia that almost made it to Comic-Con but didn’t? Where Cleo is dressed in all her royal burial trappings? Love it.
23) Favorite Lagoona Blue doll?
‘Ghoul’s Night Out’ Lagoona.
24) Favorite Ghoulia Yelps doll?
Either the one from the ‘Mad Science’ 2-pack with Cleo, or the one from the ‘Scaris: city of frights’ line.
25) Favorite Spectra Vondergeist doll?
‘Picture Day’ Spectra, who’s both pretty and super spooky! A good combo!
26) Favorite Abbey Bominable doll?
Either ‘Coffin Bean’ or ‘Music Festival.’
27) Favorite Venus McFlytrapp doll?
‘Gloom and Bloom’ Venus.
28) Favorite Rochelle Goyle doll?
‘Freak du Chic’ Rochelle is super cute!
29) Favorite Operetta doll?
Either ‘Picture Day’ or ‘Monster Scaritage.’
30) Favorite Toralei Stripe doll?
I’m not really drawn to any of the Toralei dolls, honestly. But I do own one - the one from the ‘Fierce Rockers’ 2-pack with Catty, whose face I like but whose outfit I dislike.
31) Favorite Jinafire Long doll?
‘New Scaremester’ Jin.
32) Favorite Skelita Calaveras doll?
‘Monster Scaritage’ Skelita.
33) Favorite Howleen Wolf doll?
Her original doll, from the 2-pack with Clawdeen.
34) Favorite Twyla Bogeyman doll?
Either original or ‘Coffin Bean.’
35) What do you do with your dolls? (Display them, take photos of them, etc)
I usually just arrange them on a shelf in my room. I’ve also enjoyed designing and sewing outfits for them in the past, but I haven’t done that in awhile.
36) Is Monster High the only doll line you collect? Why or why not?
I co-own a Barbie collection with my sister, but MH is the most recent collection I’ve bought for.
37) Do you still collect Monster High dolls? (i.e. scour the internet and/or secondhand stores?)
I mean, if I happen to see one I like that I can afford, I might get it. But it’s not something I tend to go out of my way to look for.
38) There’s a lot of new Monster doll/toy lines out now: thoughts if any?
... Are there a lot? I honestly don’t keep track of toy lines that closely these days.
39) And finally, what’s your favorite thing about Monster High? Can be past or present!
I came for the puns and I stayed for the quirky aesthetics and outlandish character designs. And I’m still having fun with those things, even if Mattel and most of the fandom have all moved on (as evidenced by my fanarts).
