Dazai AU (!!CH 109 SPOILERS!!)

Ghost Dazai AU: Post current arc Dazai doesn't come back. Well, he does... Just not in the way he was supposed to.

Basically: Chuuya is the only person able to see him for plot convenience. Maybe Atsushi can like sense him as well for fun gags while were at it.

Dazai probably said, "Until death do us part," to Chuuya at some point, and bro took it to the next level. Even death wont do them part.

Odd happenings happen and idk emotions?

But I got the idea from seeing one too many memes. Dazai really just. Doesn't die. Also for the current arc I can't really see his own arc and story ending just like that. If feels really abrupt and sudden, like there's so much left to explain with him. Or at the very least, explore. We don't need to fully understand Dazai, but I always feel like we are missing fundamental parts of who he is. Or maybe I'm illiterate because this could also be the case.

A++ Character right there, love him and some days I cannot stand him.

Chuuya though, needs a break. Maybe. A vacation? I know he kinda dips for a good amount of chapters then shows back up, kicks ass, then leaves. But uh, I dunno, something about being a vampire with no autonomy sounds incredibly upsetting. Very traumatic. 10/10

Goiang to try and add onto this tomorrow when its not past my bedtime.

When everything goes wrong.....

you know that one day when everything just goes so wrong in your life. could even be the littlest of things till eventually, a small incident causes everything to come breaking down. everything you've kept inside comes pouring out like water from a broken container. flows out even when you try to stop it. well, that's what happened to you today.

it started small. your clothes weren't ironed, then your coffee machine broke, then you started feeling the soreness in your throat so you couldn't even enjoy the coffee you paid 7 dollars for but it was all fine till you got late to work, had to run up 5 floors because the elevator broke down and even got scolded by your boss and just when you thought nothing could get worse, you reached home only to find out your leftovers had been eaten and while storming up to your room, the incident happen. the one small incident that triggers the breakdown. the door handle accidentally scraped against your hand, scratching it and that was it.

You try to hold it together, but inside, you feel like a busted container about to overflow. All the emotions and frustrations you've been hiding inside start pouring out like an unstoppable torrent. You try to fight it, but it's just too overwhelming.

you broke down and cried. cried so so hard but still the heavy feeling in your chest just wouldn't feel light, until of course, he came. your loving boyfriend.

he scooped you up in his arms, holding you close to his chest while running his fingers through your hair and whispering sweet nothings and reassuring words in your ear. the sweet sound of his voice, ringing like hymns in your ears. feeling the glide of his fingertips over your arm, stroking it. his fleeting touches over your face, cupping your cheeks, pressing kisses on the top of your head, holding you protectively against him.

"It's okay, sweetheart. It's okay. Everything is fine now. I'm here, and I'll keep you safe. You know I love you, my sweetest girl."

28/05/2010 After Ranpo debriefed us, we started combing through CCTV footage for any idea of where Akutagawa-kun may have gone but no luck. It’s like the kid never existed. Technically I’m still assigned to the other case, so now that my camera is fixed I’ll probably be heading out with Dazai. Oh, speaking of him, Dazai finally texted me today, after all the silent treatment! He asked if I had some extra space in my dorm to sleep in. hey did you guys know that the one bit in the beast movie, during the dragon's head rush sequence, where dazai stabs himself in the thigh to try to convince chuuya to trust him on using corruption is like, right out of my favorite shakespeare play.

For context here, this is Shakespeare's Julius Caesar. That's the Brutus that is going to stab Caesar. He's been keeping his plans and meetings with other conspirators secret from his wife, Portia.

To prove to Brutus that she can be trusted with this secret, she stabs herself in the thigh while begging him to trust that she will not do him wrong.

Here's the transcribed (slightly paraphrased/edited) scene from the movie I'm talking about, at about 1:00:33 in the movie

C: So there is no way after all? D: Not really. After [Shibusawa] is down, I will suppress Arahabaki’s rage with my skill, then it should be okay. That’s why I came here. C: In other words, if you decide to cut corners… he and I will go down together, and you are the only one who gains from it, right? How can I believe you in this situation? D: That’s right. However, Chuuya… You have to believe me. [This is where Dazai stabs himself in the thigh.] To protect this world, I can’t lose either Chuuya, or the Port Mafia. C: Don’t you dare mess up, Dazai. D: Do it, Chuuya!

I am super normal about this. By the way. Its essentially the same principle as the scene between Brutus and Portia in Julius Caesar. Which is... really interesting, honestly, as Portia is often portrayed to be a very good and noble, selfless, character, which... Beastzai is many things, but I'm not sure that's how I'd describe him. It's kind of also interesting giving Chuuya the Brutus parallel, when if anything he's been given the Caesar treatment in the past. Its almost as if their put into roles opposite their general characters, or at least that offer a wider contrast. This crossover of my favorite media overall and my favorite Shakespeare play does things to me.
