I feel like we don’t talk about and romanticize human instincts enough.

We are social creatures, and primates at that, grooming and cleaning is a social behavior for us. That’s why it’s so nice to have someone play with your hair or rub your back. Physical contact, especially from someone you trust, is awesome.

We are diurnal, we can’t survive without sunlight. Laying in a patch of sunlight after a long day at work is probably one of my favorite things to do. We get jealous about cats and dogs napping on the floor, there is nothing stopping you!

Eating is not only another social activity, that we like to do together, but it’s also calming. Prehistoric humans could only afford to eat when they felt safe. Now we’ve been conditioned to associate food with security. We even pick specific foods to comfort us when we are feeling down.

Our sense of smell is stronger than we realize! Most people can recognize close friends and family members by smell. We make candles and scented items to enrich ourselves.

We like soft things! It’s probably linked to that grooming and cleaning instinct. Fluffy means it’s a friend :)

Our communication is an instinct, language comes naturally to us. We make up new words and phrases all the time, sometimes the words will only make sense to a small group of people. Inside jokes make us feel like we are creating something new!

Speaking of making something new, crafting and touching things are instinctual too. It’s another form of enrichment that we don’t realize we do. Soft bedsheets, kids arts and crafts, fidget toys, gloves to avoid things that are unpleasant to touch. Even just flexing our hands. Doodling, snapping, the need to touch everything in the store.

We are naturally curious. We ask questions and look for answers. We try new things just for the thrill of it, even when they’re dangerous. Bungee jumping, parachuting, going for walks in the woods, trying new foods, even meeting new people could be considered dangerous. Doesn’t matter how much you enjoys something, if you do exactly the same thing every day it will get boring, we need variety and new things to explore.

We constantly want to learn! We tell our friends about the stuff that we learn! We devote so much of our time to learning and practicing our skills so we can be better at stuff we learned. Knowledge has always been our species greatest strength, that can’t develop without a brain that is constantly seeking more knowledge. We learn languages, learn about local birds. We build model planes and play instruments, just to learn something new.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

So, somethings come up, and I will not be on tumblr for a while, to say the least.

All my stories will be put on hold, I’m sorry for any deadlines that I was supposed reach, any things that I was making for friends, and everything else as well.

1. my favourite video games

I could go on foreveerrrrr about The Witcher 3, World of Warcraft, Skyrim, and Baldurs Gate 3 (a newly found favourite). the games themselves and lore surrounding them. I love all of them so much it’s insane.

2. languages/linguistics

I looooove languages, learning them, studying them, learning about how and why we speak the way we do, accents, dialects, it’s so interesting to me.

3. art

I’m always willing to talk about any and all kinds of art. especially if it’s about making it.

4. my favourite tv shows/movies

Avatar The Last Airbender, Vikings, Parks and Recreation, anything by Quentin Tarantino, and so many more have been there for me in the worst times and as a result I can talk about them for hours.

5. random useless information

there is a wealth of information on a wide variety of topics inside my brain. most of it completely useless and surface level, unfortunately.

Favorite color: i like warm colours - red, orange, yellow. I also enjoy dark greens.

Last movie / Tv show: last movie i watched was The Cabin in the Woods (2011). that was wild. i don't even remember the last tv show i finished, i tend to struggle with committing to tv series. it might have been The Lost Symbol which is based on a Dan Brown book. i watched it with my dad lol. but I'm sure there was something since then...hmm.

Sweet/spicy/savory: savoury, for sure. i like sweet stuff but only in small amounts or i start to feel sick.

Relationship status: single. shrugs.

Last thing I googled: 'where to watch Tokyo Gore Police' LOL. i unfortunately can only find it with either no subtitles or pisspoor video resolution, although admittedly i haven't done too much digging yet. if anyone can help me with that... hi my replies/inbox/dms are always open :)

Current obsession: god i dont even know. i watched both Creep movies recently and uh. well those haven't left my brain yet. i mean I'm always thinking about Repo so i almost don't even count that anymore lol. and in a totally different direction, my irl friends and i have kind of been obsessed with Trolls since we saw the new movie, but that's dying out a little now haha.

Last book: last book i read was Sharp Teeth by Toby Barlow. its a verse novel about lycanthrope packs in urban LA. i recommend! :)

Looking forward to: all the live arts i have booked lol. seeing The Front Bottoms with a friend in March! seeing Sunset Boulevard in June with my dad. Sarah Brightman has the lead role for that so..... yeah I'm gonna be real normal about seeing her perform live (blatant lie). Beauty and the Beast is in june too... The Grinning Man in April... hopefully Rocky Horror Show again, etc etc.

Been watching Sorry Boys videos and I think if this is legitimately turning into an ARG/Cinematic universe Charlie is a villain. I’m too tired to do a full theory but here are the quick notes:

Generally was playing sort of antagonistic characters in the jail and court room videos.

Possibly(likely) is responsible for the zombie outbreak in the newest video, because of the biohazard slime he had

Character design work for yet ANOTHER warlock character- This one for a silly D&D game using the Eberron setting but with Superheroes. Kaine Vidor d’Cannith accidentally linked his brain up with the body of an early model warforged named AB13 who had broken down years ago. The pair worked out a deal that mechanically is a Ghost in the Machine Warlock and Kaine being able to control the broken down warforged body that AB13 themselves can’t control anymore. Together they’re the superhero Gh0st which No One Finds Funny.

i think the fact that cardan annotated one of his books for school is not talked about enough. hes such a bookworm and i love it so much

yes yes yes!!! this is kinda why i don't really vibe with the "Cardan is a himbo" take. like the man annotates his books and has been known to read voraciously to get what he wants. no part of that screams "head empty" to me.

of course, everyone is welcome to envision Cardan howsoever they please. and i think himbo!Cardan can certainly be a fun play on his character. it's all for the bantz, and i'm not mad at that.

but personally, i see Cardan as exceptionally intellectual. so intellectual, in fact, that it's really most of why he's so intimidating.

because here's the thing: he doesn't have much of a physical intimidation factor. he can't wield a sword or weapon of any kind. he hasn't learned to fight, not in the proper sense at least. the most he can do is like... flip a coin over his knuckles, steal the ring off your finger without you noticing, and demolish you in a fashion competition.

and i guess he can put you in a chokehold if you're rude to his queen lmfao.

he also could use magic to intimidate, if he wanted to. he could ensorcel mortals to get what he wanted, if he wanted to. but most of what we've seen of him using magic of any kind is to protect Jude, not scare/harm people.

i think the fact that Cardan has these magical capabilities, chooses not to use them, and still manages to get what he wants, is a very insidious kind of terrifying.

more often than not, words and knowledge are his weapons. he uses powers of observation and cleverness to his advantage. he notices things, and he's very clever about what he notices. he knows precisely how and when to press people's buttons, he has an acute social awareness, and that makes him potentially very dangerous (depending on which side of his graces you lie). especially in a world like Faerie where the great majority of people are socially inept.

just because he is in love in TWK and couldn't see that exiling Jude was not, in fact, a clever riddle and would, in fact, backfire miserably, doesn't mean he's not smart.

rather, this is what makes him so interesting! he's intelligent but not in the cold, insensitive sort of way we often see when a character is crowned with the "intelligent" trope. he clearly still has feelings and a wide breadth of emotion, and that may cause him to fuck up sometimes, but it doesn't cancel out his intelligence.

he's just not always particularly smart when it comes to Jude. but how can we fault him for that? we're all fools in love.

60+ Followers Gift!!

holy shit, this doesnt feel real. i started this blog as a way to post my silly little defaults, and throughout the past two months i have seen so much love and attention and it's like a dream. i've gotten to interact with some of my favorite people in this fandom and have learned to create and share my love for this game. from anyone who has stuck around, to anyone who knew me before, to anyone who's new here, i want to thank you for this milestone. it certainly means a lot to me, thank you guys so much!! as a gift i've converted three hairs for you all, and i'll be coming out with a collab and another small gift soon,,, but until then, thanks! creds to @kamiiri and @goamazons for the gorgeous hairs <3
