ok ngl i almost teared up when i saw this was from you and maybe that's because i am feeling super emotional and gushy as i answer all of these but WOW. EVAN. i cannot believe you're still here! it makes me so happy to know that we are bumping shoulders on occasion. you wrote two of the most wonderful calendiles fics i have ever had the pleasure of reading, and i just realized that i never told you this but that part in participation medals of the heart where jenny expresses anxiety about not being the same person and giles responds with "why are you so sure that you are not the same person?" is a scene that i will years later rotate in my mind and is a scene that, if i was making a chart of all of the life changing calendiles fanfiction scenes i have read, would absolutely have to be on there. like just the fact that he Sees Her and Loves Her independently of her being that specific iteration of jenny -- it genuinely recontextualized how i think about g/j and i think it has certainly influenced the way that i write them ever since reading, which is VERY MUCH something that you need to know!!!!

The worst part is…it’s not like he has to care. He knows he still has fans cause enough people have applauded him for his excuses for being a shit. He has plenty of people inflating his ego that he doesn’t have to try. He’s trying to bank off the fresh interest and marketability of pop-punk/punk-pop (note how the first single for this bullshit album dropped right after The Foundations of Decay, even though this album has been rumored to be finished since last October.) He knows fans of Panic!’s first two albums will poke their heads in to laugh (any attention, even bad attention=attention), he knows Panic!’s name draws eyes and dollars, he knows he’s still marketable enough to be slotted for the radio and awards and curated top 40 and lip synced by the masses. He doesn’t have to try.

I finally got my new phone and on one hand it’s so nice to be able to do stuff on it again like checking tumblr in mobile browser (instead of having to use the app OR just having to check with it on desktop only) but at the same time setting everything up again is just...such a time suck lol
