NASHER AND SPIKE
Nasher and Spike
It has been a long time since I last posted a video from our nighttime garden cameras. We still have a healthy population of Foxes (aka Nashers ) and Hedgehogs (aka Spikes ) We think we have a couple of resident Hedgehogs who are still active most nights as well as a number of visiting Foxes.

The more time we spend outside and away from our screens means we can enjoy the uplifting moments nature rewards us with… Sarah and I spend time making sure the resident local hedgehogs in our garden have adequate food and water especially while the weather is so extreme. . We regularly get the see these little monsters in the garden as a result - creating our own luck! It really does lift our spirits at the end of the day to see them up close so frequently. . #Hedgehog #Nature #GardenWildlife #Prickles #Spike #Hedgehogs #GetOutside #FreshAir #NatureWatch https://www.instagram.com/p/CgQ8GyqszNf/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

So here I am. This is the beginning of something new. Something very big. Not just a massive task but one for a lifetime. I bought a house in late 2019. Deep in the woods. With 3000 Square meters of garden. Ok it’s not a garden to be honest it’s more like a jungle. 20 years nobody lived here. Nobody was looking for the garden. So the nature took back a little piece of its own. So this is it. This is my project. Making this place a home

Installed my first wildlife camera to see if I can film our birds and see who were getting at night. This is its test position facing the niger seed feeder that the finches love. How many pictures of my own face I take whole up the apple tree installing it? Wait 48 hours to find out! 💚 #wildlifephotography #garden #birdwatching #wildlifecam #gardenwildlife https://www.instagram.com/p/B_pf0Awj_WP/?igshid=d6t49r5fph9f

Milli = thousand, pede = legs Millipede = thousand legged. But in reality the maximum amountof legs they posses is around 750.Some even go lower than 100 legs. They are insects in the class diplopoda in the phylum arthropods. This guy is seen here feeding on lichen (a composite organism of algae and fungi) Notice the cool wavy movements of their tiny legs.😁 . . . . #millipedesofinstagram #millipede #insectsofinstagram🐛🐝🐞🐜 #insects #arthropods #diplopoda #insectsinthegarden #gardenwildlife #gardensafari . . . Springtail (Orchesella cincta) in my garden, June 2018. Like many species of Springtails, Orchesella cincta thrives in soil and leaf litter, where it presumably feeds on fungi and bacteria. They will also climb trees in search of food. . . . . . . . #nature #ontario #springtails #springtailsofinstagram #collembola #orchesella #norfolkcounty #norfolkwild #blognorfolk #simcoeontario #invert_macro #macrophotography #macrowildlife #backyardwildlife #gardeninsects #gardenwildlife #soilecology #macro (at Simcoe, Ontario) https://www.instagram.com/p/CBfafubgtW7/?igshid=19sikt0km4b12

Very much missing working with models but luckily found one willing to work for peanuts! We regularly get squirrel visitors to our garden. One even stole a bird feeder. They now get their own, much heavier feeder, to eat from. #photography #naturephotography #animalphotography #squirrel #squirrelsofinstagram #gardenwildlife #gardenlife #glasgow #gardenphotography (at Glasgow, United Kingdom) https://www.instagram.com/p/B-xG-vElQvm/?igshid=12v0f0eq1tdxg
