Growing Pains

Hey y’all, I’ve been experiencing some emotional growing pains the last year :,) and coming to terms with growing older. So recently I’ve been finding comfort in haikyuu again.

I’m nearing the age of time skip Hinata and have been reflecting my time as a teen and young adult. I just wanna say that Hinata Shoyo has brought me so much closure and reassurance as a young adult entering their early twenties. I’m so fortunate to have grown up with the series. I WAS 10 YEARS OLD WHEN THE FIRST STERILIZATION WAS RELEASED. Ah, what a time. I literally grew up with Hinata and Furudate-Sensei. I watched Hinata find a team, learn to serve and receive, confide and trust his teammates. Even though those training arcs were sometimes hard to read (looking at you, ball boy arc!), they brought me so much comfort. Hinata experienced so many trials and tribulations, depression and anxiety, and a whole lot of obstacles to get to where he’s at right now. Imagine the patience, determination, and discipline he had to learn. Taking a step back, learning and relearning, figuring out a strategy. Man, I love his journey so much. I loved every chapter and every character and every lesson whether it was direct or indirect. Just everything.

What started out as a young boy falling in love with a sport had turned to a young man pursuing his dreams and passions. What an incredible protagonist and story. I hope Hinata brings as much comfort to all those twenty-somethings navigating the world right now just like he has brought comfort to me.
