Edited-ish. ~850 words.
“Missed me!” You yell at JJ as he throws an empty beer can just past you. Sticking out your tongue at him is the perfect bait before you wink at him. “That’s 0 for 6, right?”
“4.” He mutters, picking up another crushed can littering the ground by the fire. Kie will have him picking every single one up once the game is over. You both know it.
You grin at him. “Guess you need to work on your aim.”
Pope laughs, enjoying the banter while Sarah and John B are busy making out by the fire. Kiara is inside, pulling things together for s’mores.
Another beer can falls a few inches to your right, and you laugh before smirking at JJ. “Missed again!”
“I’m going to get you, one way or another.” JJ is growing irritated, and it makes you grin bigger. He scoops up another before hurling it at you. This one rockets past your face by less than an inch.
His widened gaze meets yours, both of you shocked at how close he got to hitting you in the face.
“Missed me.”
He rolls his eyes and gets up, but you know what is about to happen, so you quickly move to put the making out pair between you. Pope grins, watching with delight in his eyes. The two of you bickering always makes Pope laugh. You were quick-witted, and JJ could flirt with just about anyone. It is pure entertainment for anyone who gets a chance to witness it.
You are well aware of what he is tempting. Even as you try to playoff his advances discreetly, you grin, butterflies exploding in your belly. “What? Throwing beer cans at me isn’t enough?”
He makes another move to get around the fire. His ball cap comes off, and he flexes it between his palms. You shake your head at him, a warning shining in your eyes, afraid he would throw it and miss you, and it land in the fire. His favorite red cap burned to ash because he could not help himself.
“JJ,” you murmur gently. “Don’t you dare.”
He laughs before he flicks his wrist, and the hat falls just shy of the fire. You tilt your head at him in surprise. His confidence rewarded him in it not burning.
“Missed me, missed me.” You stick out your tongue. “Now you’ve gotta…” You fade out, cheeks burning. All eyes are on you, including Sarah and John B.
“Now I’ve got to what?” JJ asks, drawing closer.
“Nothing.” You shrug, side-stepping around Pope’s chair and frantically searching for something to distract him or save yourself with. “Forget it.”
“No, no, no.” JJ smirks, using his longer legs to close even more distance between you. “Now I gotta what?”
You flush hotter, gaze catching on Sarah’s face. She is smirking, enjoying herself, and clearly ignoring your silent pleas for help. In your desire to get her help, you miss JJ closing the distance. Then there is the hot press of his hands around your waist. You jump in surprise, a sharp gasp falling from your lips.
JJ laughs, enjoying having the upper hand while he looks at you. His blue eyes burn as they lock with yours. “Now I gotta what?”
You shiver, fingertips digging into his arms as he holds you. “… kiss me.” You whisper, voice slightly trembling. The butterflies in your stomach increase by 100 times.
And he does. JJ Maybank kisses you in a searing kiss. Sarah gasps, and John B shares a yelp of surprise with Pope before they wolf whistle and jostle each other in joy. But you cannot help yourself, and you kiss him back. Your hands move up his arms, his shoulders, and into his hair. Your fingers twist in the blond locks as the kiss deepens. Your toes curl in your shoes, and you shiver, pressing your body closer to his.
“Whoa!” Kiara’s voice echoes across the lawn.
His grip tightens a fraction, asking you to stay in his arms. Worry clouds his gaze as he waits to see if you will shame him or stay with him. The chance of his luck running out just as he gets to you scares him.
“What is going on?” Kiara whispers louder than she intended. You laugh, resting your head on JJ’s shoulder as you evaluate each pogue for any objection to this new connection. It would be against a rule, but at the same time, no one objected to Sarah and John B. And you liked JJ so very much.
“Finally,” John B grins, winking at you both. “JJ can stop complaining about getting nowhere with you.”
JJ shakes his head, hiding his burning cheeks by ghosting his lips across your temple. You look at him in surprise to which he shrugs at. The confidence wavering slightly before he leans in again. “He’s not wrong.”
“He never is.” You murmur, pecking his lips. "You can kiss me anytime you want; you know."
He laughs. "I plan to."

SEPHIROTH HEADCANONS
[these are my headcanons, meaning the way I view him in my head and may not follow popular fanon]
↘︎ Sephiroth is a big enjoyer of puzzles of any kind. Mahjong, sudoku, jigsaw puzzles, riddles, you name it. He doesn’t see the allure of video games but will jump at the opportunity to play a multiplayer that has him competing against someone else.
↘︎ He’s generally a calm and intorverted person in his day-to-day life, but when angered he becomes scary as hell. For lack of better words, he shows signs of the in-game callous monster he is.
↘︎ He does have a sense of humor, okay?? It’s just what most people would describe as dark and dry. His kind of humor is saying the most off-hand comments with 0 expression and making people lose their shit. He is also proficient in sarcasm but has to be annoyed beyond measure to use it.
↘︎ He can drive, however friends and people who have previously been driven around by him refuse to do it again. He drives likes he’s playing Mario Kart while maintaining a scarily calm composure. He manages to do this while still abiding by the traffic laws.
↘︎ Sephiroth maintains a healthy diet and prefers not to stray from his strict regimen. Having said that, he will never turn down: a) Angeal’s cooking, b) pasta, c)sweets.
↘︎ Due to his sheltered childhood, Sephiroth was never allowed to indulge himself in sweets and other junkfood like the other kids. So when he’s old enough to control his own diet, he includes moments of utter gluttony where he inhales candy like a madman.
↘︎ “Sephiroth why don’t you cut your hair?” With his JENOVA cells? If he cut it shoulder-length one morning, it’d be down to his waist again by the following afternoon. After many attempts at keeping it at a reasonable size during his youth, he gave up.
↘︎ Now he simply keeps it long because he thinks it looks cool. Vanity spares no one. He also has a habit of sitting on his hair accidentally.
↘︎ He’s notoriously knows as being cold and unwelcoming toward people. However he does a complete 180° when he’s with his friends, and people have even reported seeing him act extroverted.
↘︎ Unintentionally a cocky bastard.
↘︎ Sephiroth isn’t a very creative person, which is something he laments greatly. He isn’t apt at drawing, writing or anything that could allow him to express himself artistically
↘︎ Give our boy any mathematical equation though and he can solve it
↘︎ Sephiroth takes joy in fucking with troopers and other SOLDIERs. He loves saying weird and uncharacteristic things and watch the realization that he’s joking dawn on them
↘︎ Big into astronomy and loves reading books about it. And he has a disdain for astrology and thinks it’s nothing but drivel
↘︎ He abhors gossip and thinks it immature and unprofessional. But if you feed him certain tales he’ll become angrossed and not let you leave until you’ve thoroughly recounted every detail of it.
↘︎ Claustrophobic. It may have everything to do with being given mako showers and being kept in those tight tanks for hours. He developed a certian disdain for being enclosed in tight spaces. He also can’t stand to wear multiple layers of clothing and can only handle one layer at a time.
↘︎ Yes he likes cats.
↘︎ People who say he’s humorless don’t know he once laughed so hard, he had to be sedated because he was on the floor unable to breathe. Context? Genesis angered a chocobo and it chased him for an hour. Angeal has it on video.
↘︎ Sephiroth can cook. How? Do you really think a SOLDIER trained to survive in the wilderness wouldn’t know how to hunt, prepare and cook his own food?
↘︎ That being said, he can only cook very basic things.
↘︎ He yells at the TV, but only when it’s a nature documentary and the prey is making unwise decisions while running away from the predator.
↘︎ He makes overexaggerated faces while eating something he doesn’t like, but that’s as far as he’ll go complaining about food-wise
↘︎ Sephiroth’s favorite kind of gifts are the practical and functional ones like socks, blankets and sword oil.
↘︎ Impulsively buys toys and childish knick knacks. Proceeds to keep them in a secret drawer with a lock and key. Don’t judge him. He’s making up for lost time.

[-: Going back to Bendy liking your style, he’d fiddle around with your clothing or accessories. He likes the bling of your necklaces and rings, and often plays with them when you are sitting together. He tries not to break anything, but accidents happen when you have sharp claws. If you do rat-nest hair, rest assured Bendy is curious on how you get your hair to do that.
[-: I feel like Bendy would find you some victorian or romantic gothic outfits around the studio. He likes taking you to the costume department and letting you run around, picking up some of the black clothing used for character study. Another thing is that he collects small trinkets he think you would think is cool. Sometimes it’s a small rock, other times its a shiny gem he found in a pipe.
[-: Bendy and Sammy get into a lot of fights around you, for your attention. Sammy wants to learn more about your subculture and what you remember from the outside world while Bendy wants to draw or walk around the studio with you. Good luck time managing.
[-: Bendy is very interested in your makeup. Please let him draw on you! Speaking of drawing, he also likes to sketch you. His drawings are a bit blotchy and inky due to his skin, and often he'll mess up on a part by lingering too long and having ink form a puddle.

INSANELY LONG LORE DUMP UNDER READ ⚠️❌️
The over-all story of the silly guys:
It's about this 5 person band filled with weirdos in the very real Texas town named Round Top Senior (better version of round top). They live together in a small apartment and have a lot of playing gigs at the local all inclusive bar. Their main problem is money. Money for a new apartment. Their non human drummer is still growing, and is slowly outgrowing the current apartment. They are desperately looking for money to buy one that can actually house their huge drummer. One day this all changes when a 6th person gets sort of kidnapped by the banjo player and has to stay there for a while. No one really likes him and he has no idea how to act around neither queer people nor non humans. Chaos ensues when he finds himself slowly falling in love with the weirdo who got him in that situation in the first place...
THE 6 MAIN CHARACTERS:
Mama 🌞🪕: No one knows who or what he is, but he is sure there! His warm pink skin, his bright green hair and his huge chest make him very loved around the town; you'd recognise him anywhere! His species, age, gender, past and motives are all unknown, even to him. All he knows is that he likes stringed instruments (He plays the banjo, guitar, bass, electric guitar and harmonica) and that he loves befriending humans and learning more about them. There's something about him that really drives people to love him. His huge list of past lovers really shows this! Also oh god his backstory is LONG I am sparing you this time
He / him used on him mostly, he couldn't care less. He has a vagina and seems to be able to reproduce, no one has really tried. He has a very deep voice and a strong Cuban accent. 200 cm / 6'6 ft. Canonically doesn't have body hair except for mustache, 0 fingernails and never wears underwear. He also REFUSES to wear shirts / cover his titties. No Canon gender or sexuality but he will be with anyone who wants him. His favorite band is Buffalo Springfield. Old ass drawing but its still one of my favs!
Richard Kelly / Dickhead 🕶🎸: He thinks that he's the coolest guy ever but oh god he is STUPID! He tries so hard to be likeable that most people just end up hating him instead. From his neglectful parents and bullies in school, he's ended up being a very pretentious and dismissive person. He doesn't really "get" queer people, he thinks most people are beneath him and he doesn't even slightly respect non human people. Why is he even here? Good question! After getting mad at Mama for "stealing his girl" (His gf Jill broke up with him because he was yelling at her in front of Mama), he got so mad in his drunk state that he fainted mid-punch and woke up on Mama's couch the next day. The rest is history! He tries to pretend that he hates the band but oh god he's starting to love them so much. He also canonically loves goth girls.
He / him, cis male. 175 cm / 5'7 ft. Has a HUGE ass. Stubby beard paired with sad mustache. Cis straight man in the beginning of the show, cis BI man at the end! 25 years old, birthday is the 15th of August. His favorite band is Gorillaz. Haven't drawn him in ages whoopsies!
Julius Amadeus Usoro 🍎🥁: Big guy! This huge monstrosity is the head honcho of the band, their drummer and the one who owns the apartment! He has a huge fear of birds and insane abandonment issues. He tackles having 3 jobs at once, drummer for the band, ASL teacher for their deaf neighbour and he also teaches the drums! His other hobbies includes competitive eating, cooking, anything that has to do with apples, going on runs and walks, cooking even more, napping and cooking again. He is a mix between a sewerian and a Häll-horn, hence his purple skin! Most people just know him as "the demon" though. His brain is very small and he's not that bright, but he has a big heart and he is very loved by the band. He is illegal in many places and the band literally have to say that he's a guide dog to get out of some situations. The people of texas really don't like "demons". He legally adopted Marv in high school. Won't say his whole long ass backstory either but he was raised by a Russian lesbian couple who owned a big apple farm. He is also mute! He communicates through ASL or messy writing!
He / him, cis grayromantic bisexual male. 255 cm / 8'4 ft. 21 years old, birthday is the 10th of October. Huge titties on this guy. Gets winter fur but is pretty hairy all year round anyway! Paw-like hands. His favorite band is The Beatles.
His current design has him wearing headphones more times than not, but these old drawings still work to shoe his design :3
Marvin Juhani Usoro / Marv 🎺💣: The youngest in the band, but also the smartest by far! With 150 IQ and a concerning love for violence and explosives, this little pyromaniac is the main singer in this already weird band. He is completely blind, literally not having eyes at all under his opaque glasses, two of his limbs are amputated and his scarring is painful, so he uses his trusty crutch-cane wherever he goes. He's in and out of asylums and switches back and forth between psychologists, which is awful for him due to strong noscomephobia [fear of hospitals or care facilities]. He's diagnosed with bipolar disorder, autism and borderline personality disorder. His mother got killed by a faulty bomb he made, and his dad disowned him afterwards; making Julius and the band his only family. He was born in Borås, Sweden, to two Jewish finns, so he speaks english/finnish/swedish/jiddisch.
He / him, cis aroace sex+romance repulsed male. 177 cm / 5'9 ft. Big part of his nose gone due to explosion. 16 years old, birthday is the 3rd of March. His favorite band is either Insane Clown Posse or Children of bodom. Ignore that his foot is only missing on one drawing it's a pretty recent change !
[Dead name] Hernandez / Buddy 🎹🤙: They are the backbone and most street smart one in the band, without them the rest of them would be completely lost! They love messing with the others amd pulling small pranks. They're diagnosed with Adhd. As a side gig they like to play piano and sing during nights at the club without the band, usually with a bar specific backup crew. They are a recovering alcoholic and struggle with smoking. They used to be very ablelist and cruel to people, but they decided to leave that life and they're trying to become the bigger person. They write pretty much half of their songs [other half being by Julius], and being in this band is the best thing that ever happened to them. They've completely cut off the ties to their family who still lives back in Spain. They pride themself in their big amount of friends, always making sure to check in on them and hype them up. They don't use their dead name ever, except for legal instances, but it doesn't make them that uncomfortable so they can't be assed to legally change it.
Any pronouns, mostly they / them. AFAB genderfluid lesbian. They still view gender for them as fluid, but still primarily fem! They are 28 years old and their birthday is the 1st of April. 167 cm / 5'6. Their favorite band is Queen, but fav artist is Cass Elliot.
Dominic Smith / Dom 🎷🖼: The half raccoon half human who ran away from home and just happened to meet Julius! This sax playing maniac is so obsessed with Julius that he clings to him 24/7. He has autism, adhd, strong maladaptive daydreaming disorder and even stronger schizophrenia. He basically lives in his own little world and sees things as a jumbled mess of bland colours, and that's why he loves Julius and the band so much; they're a break from the same old same old! He grew up on a corn farm for most of his life, living with his mother and 2 older brothers. His dad was nowhere to be found, and Dom cant remember meeting him ever. He loves sporting his beautiful knockoff slipknot merch and jeans. He has a very hard time remembering things. His special interest is spongebob! [Although he calls him "monty spumbop" for whatever reason ?]
He/they/xe, amab but pretty much completely unlabeled. No one has ever explained the concept of gender to him in a way he understands, but if someone managed to do it he would most likely use xenogenders. He's silly like that. 19 years old, birthday is the 17th of January. His favorite band is slipknot.

Barbra Scarlette Wilson / Barb 💄🎀: A 32 year old 190 cm tall texan dragqueen millionaire! He has the biggest, pinkest house in town, and he is PROUD of that! He uses he/him and is a cis gay man. His drag name is Scarlette Darling. He is absolute besties with Buddy and even gave them a specific pink flip phone that only has his number, so it's easier to contact him! He has a crush on Julius that pretty much everyone except Julius himself has noticed.
Kino 🟦💢: 29 year old unlabeled Häll-horn whos Ukrainian and Russian, very traditional one too. He has embraced the "demon" culture and is completely against all humans. He absolutely hates Julius because he thinks that he's a disappointment and embarrassment to the whole species, with how human influenced he is. He is very aggressive and mean.
Kaleb 🟥❔️: 20 year old trans ftm pansexual Sewerian whos Ukrainian, not very traditional one. He doesn't care too much about traditions or hating humans, ye just wants to relax and live as he likes. The only reason he hangs around Kino is because they can relate over both being non human and "demons". He had to pretend to bate Julius just to make Kino happy, secretly he thinks Julius is extremely attractive so whoops that's not what Kino wants!
Oscar Pérez 🍊🍺: A 37 year old cis male gay human from Mexico. He used to date Mama and planned on getting married to him while Mama was in Mexico, after getting left alone completely randomly by him, Oscar swore to find him and get revenge on him. Now he's found him again, but he still loves him too much to go through with it. So now he's just in an abusive relationship with him instead! Oscar gets a lot of pent up anger he usually takes out on Mama, since he thinks he deserves it. I can't draw yet, but I do have some stuff about my Deputy oc :0
-Her name is Em/Emma B. These are nicknames, however. The only one within Hope County that knows her actual full name is Whitehorse, just for the sheer fact that he is the head of the Sheriff Department and is thus her boss. Of all the nicknames provided by Hope County, she likes Rook the most.
-Raised in a small Colorado mountain town as a child. A bad fight with her parents as a teenager made her leave home. Was aimless for a couple of years before taking a job as a farm hand in a farm near Hope County. After seeing and hearing about the cult + John buying out the farm she worked for, she quickly joined the Sheriff's Department as an impulse to attempt to help with the cult
-Youngest member of the Hope County Sheriff's department by a sheer year or two. Took the role of 'department baby' right out of Pratt's hands. Can't imagine he took this too well but it's not like he's gonna tell anyone
-4 foot 11. Yes. She is tiny as hell. Makes the saying 'the smaller you are, the closer you are to hell' a scientific fact with her sheer existence however
-She has short, red hair that is too curly and fluffy to really style too much. Large, bright 'yellow' eyes (she claims they're amber. It's more of a light, warm brown tone. Think honey).
-The worst impulse control known to man. Roads? Roads do not exist. People will see her burst through the forests on a out of control ATV and watch as she crashes into 27 rocks and 58 trees while somehow miraculously surviving.
-Secretly loves the cult's music. She can, will, and has listened to it in any way she can if a radio is present in the vehicle she uses. If someone gets in the car with her, usually the moment she turns it on, they're blasted with 'OH LORD! THIS EARTH WAS MADE FOR US!!' before she will violently and quickly turn it off. There is but a moment of silence before she just "....That was a hack- Wow, Ok, this is so rude of the peggies to just hack into my radio like that, can you believe that-?? I know rude and the fact that they literally hacked my car radio to play that song is- wow! Wooow-"
-Of course, no one believes her. Do they speak of it? Course not.
I have a mini AU where instead of killing the Seeds, the deputy simply slaps a 'Junior Sheriff' sticker on their chests and drags them off to have them help beat Joseph and unfuck the messes they all made! Here's some fun bits on this with dear ol Em!
-John was the first one she dragged along. He hated it, but it wasn't like he was going to miss up on an opportunity to skip out on death. Tried to use the flimsily holographic sticker as a way to get what he wants. That was shot down fast.
-Faith was next. She was less aggressive than John about it, as with the traumas and manipulation of the cult, she was more than happy to help a cause that would take them down entirely. It just took a near death experience to turn her views around. She was the quickest to befriend for this reason for Em.
-Jacob was the epitome of 'Why is it in a cage? Because it growled at me...' arguably the hardest to get to be compliant. Thankfully a bit more relaxed due to the fact his little brother John was present, but it wasn't enough for a small while. During this time of "taming the beast", Em found that he takes wolf documentaries like a baby takes sensory videos. Will stare mindlessly at the phone for hours.
-Upon any of the resistance members questioning Em on her inclusion of the Seeds of all people in their fight, she simply says "We're with the IRS!". This tends to just confuse them enough to keep them quiet.

Revolutionary Girl Utena Tarot Card Ideas
I cannot commit to drawing all these but I have been working out how I'd lay out the Major Arcana at least. While I'm confident in some cards, there's some where I'm not sure which visual symbols I want to use or how to capture the meaning of the card right. Feel free to reply/message me about these if you have better ideas.
Deck is Rider-Waite and meanings are cobbled together from BiddyTarot, Labrynithos, TVTropes Useful Notes, Wikipedia and me. I list these meanings, then describe the cards, and then describe how the meanings interact with the cards and whether or not they still fit. Once I feel satisfied/done with the card assignments, I'll probably just write out new suggested meanings for all of them.
A thing about Rider-Waite decks is that Strength and Justice are reversed compared to other decks. I'm tempted not to number these so that those cards can change places.
Anyways, the cards:
0. The Fool - Tenjou Utena (Prince)
upright: beginnings, innocence, free spirit, spontaneity
reversed: recklessness, taking risks, naviety, inconsideration
She should be depicted in her school uniform at the beginning of the series, white rose in her breast pocket and bamboo sword and about to step (off?) onto the dueling arena and is looking above at the school's mirage. I am tempted for her to have short hair in this.
The show goes out of its way to call Utena the Fool. "Was that really such a good idea." This card is positioned as the protagonist that makes their way through all the challenges presented by the other 21 Major Arcana cards (21 duels). Both upright and reversed, this card describes Utena's personality as an innocent and naive young girl, reckless in the name of what she believes is right.
1. The Magician - Ohtori Akio (Dios/Apocalypse)
upright: manifestation, willpower, desire, creation
reversed: manipulation, trickery, untapped talents, illusions
This should be the verison of Akio that's a prince, in the white suit with red cloak. Projected above him is the illusory school that reflects the real one below, and maybe sitting on the projector (should not be obvious that this is the projector, as much as like, the orb that also represents the world/egg). He is doing the "as above, so below" symbol that the magician is doing but with his hands reversed, and above his head should be a snake eating its own tail in the shape of an infinity sign like a halo, representing the dueling cycle. I'm not sure if he should be the version of Dios or the version of Apocalypse. It's possible to do both here with Dios reflecting Apocalypse but it might get too crowded.
Upright this card represents how Akio controls the world through his own desires. Reversed, this card represents the manipulation and illusions he employs.
2. The High Priestess - Himemiya Anthy (Rose Bride)
upright: intuition, subconscious/unconscious, internality, magic
reversed: secrets, withdrawal and silence, repressed feelings
It shouldn't be obvious that Anthy's in her coffin, but there's a shadow over her that represents that. Her expression is neutral, doll-like and she is wearing the rose bride dress with the crown on her head. Chu-chu should be in this card, dressed as Akio, maybe eating/holding a pomegranate. She is in the rose garden that's flooding around her feet, with other roses and the moon reflected in that. Behind her is a red rose on the veil, and the shadows of A/B-ko are both going into the rose as they fight each other. In general, the colors and composition should reflect the Empress, so more purple in this one.
This card is a lot about secret power and manipulation. Reversed, it leans more into emotional repression and withdrawal.
3. The Empress - Kiryuu Nanami
upright: feminity, motherhood, nature, abundance, harmony
reversed: dependence, smothering, lack, nosiness
Posed like the High Priestess, Nanami has a smug demeanor to her. Wherever Chu-chu was, should be replaced with a colorful egg. She should also be wearing a crown, and in the background should be the mountains as seen in the episode where she turned into a cow.
Nanami represents the queen in the way she has social power over her classmates from her proximity to her brother, the Emperor. She is literally the only person I could think of in this show that has a scene that one could describe as maternal (trying to raise the egg). Reversed, this card signifies dependence and lack, both things that characterize Nanami. She is dependent on her brother for power, and she lacks a true emotional connection with literally everyone (she thinks she has one with her brother but that's proven false). Maybe also including the cat whever Anthy has one of the duelists.
4. The Emperor - Kiryuu Touga
upright: masculinity, fatherhood, authority, control
reversed: tyranny, rigidity, coldness, domination
This card should probably reflect the Devil more than the Magician, though Touga models himself after both in relationship to Utena. Touga should be wearing red and sitting on the chair as though he were dead, on the Student Council rooftop. He is carrying a sword in one hand and maybe he's holding a white envelope or telephone in the other one. On the table should be the recordings he made for the student council meetings. I feel like I should include the cabbage butterflies from the movie since they are a visual symbol associated with him. I don't know how to depict coldness other than the ways he destroys the relationship he has with Nanami and Saionji, so maybe the diary burning should be near him and he should be bleeding from the hand holding the sword.
Touga and Nanami reflect Akio and Anthy. All together, these four make a story about a kingdom where it looks like the power is in the hands of Touga and Nanami, but it's really Akio and Anthy that are influencing things as the Magician and High Priestess.
5. The Hierophant - The Shadow Play
upright: religion, conformity, traditions, morality
reversed: personal beliefs, rebellion, subversiveness, freedom
This one is complicated. I don't feel like there's a particular religion that's believed in (especially not Christianity). I was debating putting the teacher here for her role in enforcing the school's norms, but she's pretty ineffectual in the face of Utena. The thing that's a much larger controlling force in the school is the Narrative. The story that says that one boy is the prince and all girls are the rose bride (except for the witch) and so forth. I feel like the Shadow Players are the most aware of the narrative and the story they're acting out. This card shows the different masks the girls wear, roles they act out, and the play they're putting on is the one they invite Utena to. I haven't figured out which props should be in the foreground but probably a crown, a sword and a monster mask/witch hat?
Upright, this card represents the narrative and social constructs that the world is expected to adhere to. Reversed, this card represents rebelling against those things and staying true to yourself.
6. The Lovers - Utena & Anthy
upright: love, harmony, duality, union, synthesis
reversed: self-love, disharmony, imbalance, one-sidedness
This has to be Utena and Anthy having tea together, as equals, both of them with their hair long and down. Some canvases on easels in the background, referencing the scene in the movie where they perceive each other, and the implication that this is in the future or outside the school. There's tea on the table next to a plate of biscuits, but under the table, there should be two swords. I would love if I could make the swords only visible if the card is reversed, and it's not necessary for those to exist, because maybe the tea and biscuits are enough to call back the scene where they joke about poisoning each other. I want them to be holding hands across the table as well, and smiling, truly happy. Maybe car keys in the foreground, and a world stretching out around them in the back.
Upright, this is their relationship as equals. Reversed, this is their relationship as prince and bride and princess and witch, one-sided projections of the other, jealousy, and taking advantage of or minimizing the other.
7. The Chariot - Akio's Car
upright: control, willpower, success, direction/leadership
reversed: self-discipline, opposition, lack of direction
This one's kinda obvious, what else is a chariot but Akio's car? Akio sits on the hood of the car, shirtless, as it speeds past the word "stop" written on the road, which is turning towards the left, this car is not trying to escape the school. I'm tempted to draw the car so large that Akio's face isn't really visible.
The additional meaning afforded to this card by the show is coerced sexuality. The word "Stop" should be reversed so it's easier to read from the driver's point of view and when the card is reversed, and I'm debating whether writing it in English or Japanese.
8. Strength - Shinohara Wakaba
upright: courage, bravery, compassion, gentleness, self-control
reversed: inner strength, self-doubt, weakness, insecurity
Wakaba's a normal girl going through it and dealing with feeling inferior and the heartbreak from the guy she likes mocking her feelings for him. I'm really not sure what to include in this, maybe her in her dormitory with her kappa water dispenser and food she likes cooking, like one of the bento boxes she makes for Utena. The other symbol here is the carved wooden leaf and her love letters, but I'm not totally sure how I want to include these, maybe reversed or falling from something behind her. Also maybe actual onions for both her and the onion prince.
Upright, it's about the forms of strength besides just physical, besides the type that stands out and is special. Quiet and emotional strength and compassion. Reversed, it's insecurity about not being special or important.
9. The Hermit - Saionji Kyouichi
upright: wisdom, introspection, solitude, search for truth
reversed: isolation, loneliness, withdrawal, lost
I don't really have a lot of Saionji thoughts. But, he is like Utena in that he also has no family and no one to rely on, except Wakaba and he sure does end up fucking that up in the end. He doesn't really have any inner knowledge but when he gets expelled, he doesn't go home and lives in the woods for a few weeks, I guess he grows a little in this time? Maybe? Anyways, that's this card. Him camping out in the woods, and wearing an apron and cooking eggs, I guess. He's also the first duelist to point out/realize that maybe the upside-down school is just a mirage.
Upright, this card is about having time alone and trying to figure out what you're doing. Reversed, this card is about not having anyone to rely on, being isolated and withdrawn.
10. Wheel of Fortune - The Duels
upright: good luck, cycles, destiny, change in fortune
reversed: bad luck, resistance to change, breaking cycles
The cycle of duels is the only thing that makes sense to me here. All of the main duelists (Utena/Saionji/Miki/Juri/Nanami/Touga/Akio) pointed at a rose like the spokes of a wheel. Maybe also a light that points upwards, representing the power of Dios, or a light coming from Anthy to represent the hearts that these are coming from. Surrounding this is either the shape of the school or the shape of a coffin (the shape of the school is also the shape of a tomb), filled with roses of different colors.
I think something about this card is being complicit in the cycle you're stuck in. Upright means success within the system, and reversed is failure within the system, but there are reasons why succeeding in the system may perpetuate a terrible cycle and reasons why failing or rebelling against a system is a good thing.
11. Justice - Tenjou Utena (duelist)
upright: objectivity, fairness, truth, cause and effect, law
reversed: unfairness, unaccountability, dishonesty
There's actually a version of this card drawn by the mangaka artist, Saitou Chiho, here in 1997. The other card here is Utena as the High Priestess, but I really think that should be Anthy. There's some stuff here about how Utena rides a black horse in the opening sequence and how (of the four horsemen) that rider is Famine who also carries a scale.
I think this card should be Utena in the pose that she uses when the spirit of Dios possesses her and there should be rose petals fallilng to the ground behind her, purple and/or red maybe because that's Akio that she's defeating but that's also Anthy.
Upright, this card is being the chivalrous and honorable prince, to revolutionize the unjust world. Reversed, this card is the way a prince never quite let the princess protect herself, and that you cannot revolutionize the world with the methods used to enforce control.
The really fun thing about Utena being Justice and Wakaba being Strength is that Rider-Waite decks actually have the order for these two reversed, compared to other decks (Strength is the 11th card, Justice is the 8th card) and this really neatly fits in with the last episode of the series.
12. The Hanged Man - Mikage Souji/Professor Nemuro
upright: surrender, sacrifice/matyrdom for knowledge, release
reversed: stalling, resistance, indecision, needless sacrifice
Mikage should be upside down in his elevator, with a leaf framed on the wall next to him. He should be holding the candles, representing this belief that he sacrificed himself for Mamiya. The bottom of this card should be up in flames, and maybe a red outline around him like the other princes that died in the school in the past and were cremated. He has a black rose in his breast pocket and the black rose ring on his finger. He should be looking downwards, mirroring Utena's pose as the Fool. There should be a desk behind him, somewhat reminiscent of the table the Magician has, with the things that the other black rose duelists had on their school desks.
This card upright is about sacrifice for knowledge, sacrificing people for the sake of information or revenge. Reversed, this card is about nostalgia and fixation on the past, being unable to move forward. It's also about needless sacrifice, and the way everyone's memories of the Black Rose Duelists were totally lost after the arc.
13. Death - Tokiko Chida
upright: endings, change, transformation, metamorphosis
reversed: resistance to change, stagnation, decay, inner purging
Tokiko should be upright, wearing all black and looking like an old woman. On the wall behind her should be a framed butterfly representing metamorphosis. It should be sunset, mirroring the flames that consume Mikage. I want to somehow represent that she's left flowers on Mamiya's grave and is moving forward with her life, maybe a coffin behind her with the stalks of floweres on it.
Tokiko is only figure that is able to change between the memories and now, and one of the first to escape. While Utena and Mikage mirror each other, Mikage sees Utena as Tokiko and able to enact change.
14. Temperance - Arisugawa Juri
upright: balance, moderation, patience, synthesis
reversed: imbalance, excess, self-healing, extremes
Juri is casting off things, the broken locket falling into the water while the orange rose, torn from her breast pocket, falls onto the land. I was going to use Shiori as the Lovers so that I could cast Juri as the angel in both of these cards, but I think this also works out.
I think upright, it can work to be patience and reversed it can be repression or imbalance. Juri's patience in hoping that Shiori will understand her feelings without her saying them, which doesn't work out for her but sort of works for the card. And reversed, there's an imbalance and block that's keeping her from progressing.
15. The Devil - Ohtori Akio (Chairman)
upright: shadow, restriction, addiction, sexuality, material attachments
reversed: release, freedom, detachment, restoring control
This card should be framed to be inside the observatory that keeps everyone trapped, with Akio standing above Utena and Anthy, who don't look at each other. Utena's dressed like a princess wearing earrings, Anthy is dressed like the Rose Bride and the night sky is projected above them, Venus directly above Akio.
He literally draws a line from the planet Venus to Lucifer to his own name and role in this story. Not a lot to really say about this one, it mirrors the Lovers and the way Akio uses sexuality and family and attachments to control people.
16. The Tower - The Observatory
upright: sudden upheaval, broken pride, chaos, revelation, disaster
reversed: averting disaster, fear of change, fear of suffering
Feels self-explanatory. It's the tower, it's the birdcage, it's the garden, it's everything that's keeping Anthy trapped. The swords should be in the process of destroying it, with the silhouette of Utena getting hit by them.
This is the scene of destruction, Utena's broken dream of being a prince, understanding Anthy, and the reality of being a prince. This revolution is going to hurt. Reversed, it's about Akio's fear of the swords, of change, of destruction.
17. The Star - The Projector/Miracle
upright: hope, faith, purpose, renewal, spirituality, peace
reversed: faithlessness, discouragement, disconnection
commentary: The star is the projector of the castle reversed. I think it should be front and center, and projecting the upside-down school and a constellation above it. It's the hope that people have to gain power and attain their dreams at the same time keeping everyone stuck within the system and used to discourage true freedom.
18. The Moon - Kaoru Miki and Kozue
upright: illusion, intuition, fear, subconscious/unconscious, true colors
reversed: confusion, fear, misinterpretation, repression
commentary: I think this works best if I use both of the twins on this one. Miki represents illusion and the tame dog while Kozue represents true colors and the wild wolf. They should both be in the garden but Miki's resembles his memory while Kozue's side represents the current reality, while she looks up at the moon and between them is the pitcher of milk creating a river that divides-connects them.
Upright this card is about nostalgia and the illusions created by memory, thinking of Miki's perspective of the events. Reversed, this card is about hedonism and expression of true feelings, seeing Kozue's side of the same events.
19. The Sun - Tsuwabuki Mitsuru
upright: positivity, fun, warmth, success, celebration, reward
reversed: inner-child, negativity, overly optimistic
commentary: A baby. I want the film to be projected above him, with the idea of being a prince just out of reach above him and maybe holding the bar of chocolate or the potted plant that he dropped on Nanami's head upside-down.
I think this ends up mirroring the Fool a bit, with naivety and impulsiveness. And nothing Tsuwabuki tries to do succeeds because he's a child. Maybe leaning more towards that, being a child and powerless.
20. Judgement - The Swords of Hatred
upright: judgement, rebirth, reflection, reckoning, awakening, absolution
reversed: doubt, self loathing, ignoring the call
commentary: A circle off the swords pointed at a coffin filled with roses, mirroring the Wheel of Fortune. The roses in the center should either all be white or be rainbow overflowing from the coffin. This should be happening at the observatory.
21. The World - Himemiya Anthy (leaving)
upright: completion, fulfillment, accomplishment, travel
reversed: short-cuts, delays, no closure
commentary: Himemiya is wearing her outfit from the end of the anime. The road she walks on fades into the wilderness.

Maybe Din storms into their fresher room and finds Paz slowly and gently washing himself, lost in his head because he's still shaken how badly Din reacted to his scent.
Din is dissatisfied with Paz's progress, he wants Paz /scrubbed/ if need be /scalded/ clean-- not really scalded, he doesn't want his beloved hurt, but that's how extreme this need feels-- he orders Paz to scrub himself properly or he's not stepping inside.
Paz, quietly stung at the implication, yes Din really isn't reacting well to his scent, obeys.
Din eventually joins him in the fresher, frustrated with Paz's progress, grabbing the porous stone and woven husk from Paz's hands and finishing the job himself. He's maybe rougher than he needs to be, scrubbing over the scent glands at Paz's wrists, his armpits, his /neck/ and that's finally when Paz visibly flinches away, catching Din's hands to stop him.
"What's gotten into you?" Paz asks, expression hurt, the water from the fresher plastering his hair to his ashen face.
It almost feels like the old days before they would brawl, but Paz never looked so beaten and pathetic then. Din wants to devour him.
Their cleaning tools are set aside.
"Kiss me," he murmurs, glancing at the full, parted mouth of his alpha and back to those soft eyes.
The scent of that Other is at last gone but Din isn't sure, maybe he's only imagining the taste of them on the back of his tongue. Din growls and steps into Paz's space, close enough to share breath. His face tilts up.
Paz frowns. "Wh--"
It wasn't a request. Din seizes his mouth, kissing him long and deep, drawing him down and into himself, earning Paz's arms that encircle his waist so naturally, arching up against the broad span of all his bulk.
Paz moans into his mouth so sweet, so helplessly confused and no, there's no taste of anyone but the two of them here at last, thankfully, or Din would kill them.
But it's not enough.
They end up on the floor of their fresher. Paz with his back flush to the wall of stone, head tilted up and groaning for mercy as Din rides him with a shade of furious hunger usually witnessed only in heat. His inner muscles grip and massage his cock with strength that make Paz's vision white, and every time Din slams down to the hilt, it's like a punch through his groin to his gut and right for his heart.
Din fucks him like a man possessed, panting in echo to Paz's delirious bliss, pulls him in, face cradled to sigh into his mouth, "Do you love me?"
And Paz sobs, glutes clenching as he comes so hard his whole belly aches with it, arms so tight around Din it cinches his air-- of course he does, instinctive and thoughtless as breathing, of course he loves him--
The fresher beats wave after wave of cool water down their bodies, washing away the liberal evidence of Din's possessive claim, making Paz's hands slip when they grip Din's thighs as they begin to flex and rise.
"Good," Din says, "Then you'll be careful who gets their scent on you, /Paz/, I love you so much," and starts to ride him again.

Brazil wears bright yellow shirts and in 1970 they were solid gold. Author, Sam Kunti, describes “how the greatest team of all-time won the World Cup” and (then) for the third time - Pele included, making a Cup hat-trick echoing the achievements of his team (although Pele missed the ‘62 Final due to injury).

World Cup ‘78
BLOOD ON THE CROSSBAR by Rhys Richards
Argentina ‘78. Videla was President of Argentina, and his corrupt nation was playing in a World Cup Final, which they won, 3-1, beating the Netherlands, after extra time.
Controversially, Argentina had thrashed Peru 6-0 in Group B to qualify for the Final, going into the match knowing they had to score 4 more goals than Group A rivals, Brazil. However, there was no need to cry for Argentina, the hosts had won, covering themselves in tickertape if not glory.
Rhys Richard’s book also goes into extra time, explaining both the political field and football field as seemingly ruled over by a dictator. On the pitch, it was the long-haired, skilful Kempes for Argentina who - complete with film star looks - scored 6 to finish overall top scorer.

WE MADE THEM ANGRY by Tom Brogan
The jigsaw puzzle that is the British Isles was almost completed in Spain in 1982. England, Northern Ireland and Scotland all qualified, with “Ron’s 22″ dumped out despite not losing a single game - three wins, two draws. Unfortunately, this time, Greenwood’s squad, didn’t get it right.
Scotland, according to writer Tom Brogan, made the Brazilians angry. David Narey had the audacity to fire in a wonder goal from long range on the 18th minute in a Group 6 game, which stung the Brazilians to fire back four and win outright. In the end, Italy lifted the trophy for (then) the 3rd time.
The Scottish spirit, fostered in qualifying by the strong-man tactics of Jock Stein, is fantastically depicted in a super colour photo in the book showing top players Souness, Robertson and Archibald in an embracing formation of (shirt numbers) 4-11-8, taken just after Robertson had scored against Israel, in 1981.
Scotland were destined not to win and be, as “born winner” Ally MacLeod had previously described the Argentinian summit as being in ‘78, ‘Top Of The World’, but the squad did reach No.5 on ‘Top Of The Pops’ with their football record, ‘We Have A Dream’. By World Cup ‘86, Scotland had another hit charted, a ‘Big Trip To Mexico’.

“The boy Lineker” cannoned-in six goals for England (making him Top Scorer) plus “The Hand Of God” being just some highlights in the Mexico sunshine. As in ‘82, England, Northern Ireland and Scotland all qualified. This time, it was the Northern Irish who faced Brazil in their Group D and Pat Jennings wearing a blue jersey in goal, aged 41. Three were put past him, including one strike from some distance by Josimer. The match proved to be Jenning’s last international game.
Argentina defeated West Germany 3-2 in the final, leaving England manager, Bobby Robson, wondering what might have been had they got beyond the head, hands and feet of “superstar” Diego Maradona - scoring 2 to England's 1 in the Quarter-Final. Scotland finished rock bottom of Group E. Steven Scragg concludes, “Denmark still should have won it though!”

USA’94 by Matthew Evans
Nine venues in nine host cities with “shooting” in Dallas. July 9, 1994, eventual winners, Brazil, beat the Netherlands 3-2 in The Cotton Bowl in front of 63,500.
As Matthew Evans writes in Chapter 15: “The Dutch were enjoying their second consecutive World Cup following a barren period in the 1980s after runners-up places in the 1974 and 78 tournaments. They had progressed as winners of their group despite a defeat to neighbours Belgium in Orlando and swatted the Republic Of Ireland aside in the last 16″.

Kokichi: Judas does have this really cute habit where vae'll start twirling their hair unconciously! They do have alot of hair, so I'm not surprised, but I still find it absolutely adorable, gum'll sometimes even comb through it with deitys fingers! If I'm lucky, kit lets me play with sweet hair myself! There is enough to spare after all. I also kiss Judas ALOT, I mean, ew is my fiance, you can'y expect me to just, not kiss cute all the time, thats one of the reasons I proposed if I'm being honest
Sonic.EXE: Judas has, alot of weird habits, but they sometimes like ae likes to something click mrrps claws on stuff, nothing living seeing as dangan claws are sharp enough to peirce flesh without any effort, which I also find admirable about snow for obvious reason. I actually don't think I've ever kissed love before though, not that it means anything about our relationship, I just struggle with affection sometimes, plus I'm pretty sure that b thinks that the stitches on kittys mouth will be uncomfortable to kiss, but I'm more worried about umber tasting blood if they kiss me.
Knuckles: Judas has many habit's my favorite being how lo sometimes rock back and forth in his seat while thinking, kyuu does it whenever room's trying to draw, and often times or'll stare off into space while doing so. It did concern me for the first few times, but i soon realized that restlessness must be common for shapeshifters when they hold a form for so long, so letting out the energy in small ways is vital for keeping fem form. I do not beleive I've ever kissed flesh though, I have thought about it, but I was never sure of how ew'd react. voi has kissed me sometimes though, of the cheek, which I appreciate very much.
Bandu: Ugh, what is with you people and expecting me to pick just one thing I like about my Rosie? I just can't! Everything about kit is just perfect! Everything su does is perfect! The way lul walks, the way b sticks rings tongue out sometimes when focused, the way spinel eyes seem to light up when end gets a new idea. I just love everything about co so much! Cloud's my soulmate, I'm sure of it! I want to kiss kyuu every moment of my life! I would even give habit little kisses in saers sleep if I could! Unfortunately the last time I broke into hir room at night, I had to talk my way out of a restraining order. It's so unfair that I can't just kiss bell whenever I want.
Airy: Well, seeing as I basically watched heart grow up, I know about most of sangui little habits, even stuff like how nos'll hit sugar knuckles together when zomb has nothing to do with ambrosia hands. I think my favorite habit of nyans is how zie'll sometimes unconsioucely bite lolita finger or thumb, it's like sevs a little kid again, it's cute. We aren't a fan of PDA at all, so when it comes to kissing we kinda just, wait until we're alone together to kiss, and even then, the most we'll do is like, a peck on the lips or a peck on the cheek, it's never escalated to like, french kissing or full on making out though, not yet anyways.
